The Issue of Palestinian Refugees Right of Return
The Issue of Right of Return of the Palestinian Refugees
The problem is that Israelis and Palestinians are divided over the more than 4 million Palestinian
refugees who insist on returning to the homes that they lost during the 1948 and later during the 6 Day
War in 1967. Palestinians claim that these were their homes and they have a right to return to them
Israelis, on the other hand, generally, find the idea of such an exponential return of Palestinians to the
heart of Israel frightening since it may override the ratio of balance of Palestinians to Israelis as well
as importing possible terrorism (e.g. Quandt, 2005)
The refuge problem first initiated with the 1948 War Which Israelis dub the War of Independence and
Palestinians call the Nakba when some 700,000 Arab residents (85%) left their home, some
voluntarily, others forced, finding refuge in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Gaza Strip, which was
then administered by Egypt. Others were left homeless in Israel. (Brynen, 2007) whilst the Six Day
War caused a further flight of 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians from Israeli won territory.
The Oslo Accords in 1993, negotiated by the EU, Israel, and the US, recognized a Palestinian state
under the Fatah party (led by Yasser Arafat) and established that the Palestinian refugees would be
controlled by this rule. They also planned to solve the refugee problem (largely by monetary
compensation) by 1996. Unrest and terrorism, as well as internal conflict on the solution,

Value Chain Approach And Actor Network Theory
Why use the Value Chain Approach and Actor Network Theory (ANT)
Value chains traditionally are those farmers can easily access. To comprehend complexities involved
in value chain a qualitative approach termed value chain analysis approach was used. The approach is
descriptive and allows linkage analysis of the farmer with different actors that are part of the Ziziphus
mauritiana chain. Inter mediators or the middlemen buy Ziziphus mauritiana from rural peasants in
Muzarabani. The middlemen also sale Ziziphus mauritiana to each other. However, most of the
Ziziphus mauritiana end up in the hands of bigger traders from markets like Mbare Musika of Harare
in Zimbabwe. The value chain analysis approach used has an array of advantages. Different ... Show

The socio technical world is well explained (Langanki 2014). Especially, when local production of
spirits from Ziziphus mauritiana (kachasu) is explained. Actor Network Theory acts as an eye opener.
It gives a conceptual framework to the understanding of Ziziphus mauritiana value chain.
What about Power relation relations issue in Actor Network Theory?
Power relation are criticised to ANT approach. However in contrast ANT observed power being in
action. The linkages and Network power are recognised through ideas for undertaking perceptions
actions and opinions. Actors have voices and act as agencies. ANT emphasises use on interactive
power than the physical power. The concept of ANT is aligned to each network and provided a radical
approach to the discourse and other non human actors are treated as actors.
Actor Network Theory is used as a methodology for the study of the of the Ziziphus mauritiana value
chain. The value chain is viewed as an assemblage of networks. Being a theory and a methodological
approach ANT endeavours to develop analysis tools on focal actor, thats try to control other actors.
ANT can be used to shape the theoretical framework, hence enhancing the flexibility of the developed

Still Alice Humanism Analysis
Linus Pauling said, (that) Humanism is a philosophy of joyous service for the greater good of all
humanity, of application of new ideas of scientific progress for the benefit of all (1961). From this
speech, it displays the main them of humanism and it also inspires a several ways to many people. In
the novel Still Alice by Lisa Genova 2007, the concept of humanism influences on her perception.
This concept is a moral philosophy which mainly focuses on the value or of human being. It uses the
logical reasoning to improve the ability of human being and to understand the world. Humanism is
seemingly to looking forward to science. As a result, in Still Alice novel manifests a lot of elements of
humanism whether it be human rights, rational life and progressive philosophy of life which are three
main elements of humanism.
The idea of human rights is one of the significant elements of humanism. For example, John Howland
got promoted at work. So, he had to move to New York while Alice did not want to go to New York.
They tried to convert each other but it cannot change their own decisions. Thus, in the end of the novel
(P.325), John moved to New York and Alice still lived in Cambridge. From this, it reveals about
human rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the DMOZ s data in 2016, humanism claims that god is totally absent. The answer of
survival of human race is not related to god. Humanists believe in the ability of human being rather
than supernatural. To illustrate, when Alice became a patient of Alzheimer s disease, she did not go to
church for praying to god. She accepted the reality and struggled with her bad disease. So, Alice
seemed to against god can be parts of humanism. From this, it supports the element of humanism that
everything is rational not supernatural because in the end of the story there are no magic items which

Essay on Elitism in American Politics
Elitism is the belief or philosophy that a particular group of persons with exceptional abilities,
specialized training or experience, wealth, or other unique characteristics, are the people whose
interpretations on different matters are to be taken most seriously. More simply, some believe these
people are best fit to administer or whose understandings or actions are mostly likely to be beneficial
and profitable. Otherwise, the term elitism could be used to pronounce a condition in which power is
in fact focused in the hands of an elite, whether rightly or wrong.
Pluralism, in a rather general sense, is the acceptance and approval of diversity. The concept is used in
a wide variety of issues and sometimes in many different ways. In ... Show more content on

This group of elites can efficiently order the goals for all or nearly all significant government policy
making. They may also lead the actions of educational organizations and mass media in today s
society. Their power can easily be seen by their financial resources and also on their rankings among
the top of the big corporations, and believe it or not, it does not depend on whether or not they can
gain large amounts of support through labors to embody interests and the good of social groups in the
United States. The elitist theorists and a large portion of Americans believe, that this country cannot be
run by powerless masses of average voters to chose a leader well fit to lead our nations in the right
direction.
Many Americans believe that the United States government is untouchable by the everyday citizen,
and in many ways this is very true. Yet a democracy depends for its very livelihood on expressive
contacts between the people and the government. For example, campaigns and elections focus on
citizens and remind them that they have ultimate power, the vote. The campaigns of recent years are
increasingly extravagant and much longer than those of the past. Costing millions upon millions of
dollars, enticing the attention of the public anyway imaginable. With all of the expense and glamour,
the course of electing government officials offers peoples with important information concerning
matters and candidates credentials for office. Interest groups

Native American Indian and the Bald Eagle
University of Phoenix | The American Indian and the Bald Eagle | Com 220 | | Tamara Lowe |
5/10/2009 | | The American Indian and The Bald Eagle Native American Indians have been living in
America long before the white man ever came here. There were probably about 10 million Indians
living in North America at the time the white man arrived. The first Native Americans were believed
to have arrived during the last ice age. Somewhere around 20,000 30,000 years ago and they came
through a land bridge across the Bering Sound, from northeastern Siberia into Alaska. The name
Indian was given by Christopher Columbus who believed mistakenly that the mainland and islands of
America were part of the Indies in Asia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the birds wanted all land so they would have more food. Other birds wanted all water because
they liked it that way. They eventually could not decide so they appointed Eagle as their chief and he
was to decide for them. The Eagle decided on land and then asked who would go and search for the
land. The Dove volunteered and flew away. He came back after four days and said that he could not
find land anywhere. The Crawfish came along and Eagle asked him if he would go. The Crawfish
disappeared under the water and after four days came up to the surface with some dirt in his claws.
Crawfish made a ball of the dirt and handed it to Chief Eagle, who flew away with it for four days.
When Eagle returned he told the council that there was now land and that an island had been formed.
Gradually, the island grew bigger and bigger and the water became lower and lower. More islands
appeared and grew together forming the earth. (Manasco, 1985) Almost every Native American tribe
has significant stories about the eagle. One story from the Walla Walla tribe concerns the two identical
wing feathers found close to the breast on each wing. The two feathers are called THE TWINS . These
feathers are aerodynamic and able to be twisted by the bird to give a smooth level effortless flight,
when riding thermal currents. Indians in their superb wisdom, learned from their observation of the

Lebana Essay
After its partial withdrawal from most Lebanese territory in 1978 following Operation Litani, Israel
maintained a military occupation of roughly 10% of Lebanon through a self declared nine mile deep
security zone in the southern part of the country (Ruebner, 2000: 1). The security zone was designed
to act as a buffer zone between Israel and Lebanon, in order to minimize cross border attacks (Ibid). In
defending the security zone with the IDF, the SLA bore a large share of the fighting against Hizballah
(Party of God) and to a lesser extent, Amal (Hope), two Lebanese Shi a organizations that fought to
oust Israel from the security zone (Ruebner, 2000: 2).

militia after Haddad s death in 1984 (Ibid).
Israel paid an average monthly salary of between $500 and $800 to SLA members and together with
maintenance and infrastructure expenditures, it is estimated that it spent a total of 35 million annually
on the SLA and its dependents (Ruebner, 2000: 2). Israel s control over the SLA was pervasive,
especially that it trained, equipped, advised, resupplied and paid the salaries of the troops (Directorate
of Intelligence, 1986). SLA units in the zone sustained most of the casualties and bore the brunt of the
fighting (Ibid). According to an SLA spokesperson, since its inception to March 2000, the SLA
suffered 621 military fatalities and 200 civilian fatalities, compared to the IDF roughly 250 fatalities
in the security zone , since its establishment in 1985 to April 2000 (Blanche, 1999: 78 sandbags).
Upon forming his government in July 1999, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak pledged to withdraw
the IDF from Lebanon within a year responding to a mounting frustration over continued Israeli
casualties in Lebanon (Ruebner, 2000: 3). On the 5th of March 2000, the Israeli cabinet unanimously
endorsed Barak s plan to withdraw by the 7th of July 2000 (Ibid). Seeking to minimize its casualties,

Stereotypes In Slaughterhouse Five
In the novel Slaughterhouse Five , Kurt Vonnegut illustrates the over sexualization and negative
qualities women are associated with. Vonnegut published his novel at the start of the second wave of
feminism where women s rights were finally beginning to get recognition (Napikoski, Feminism in
1969 ). However, the main character in Slaughterhouse Five, Billy Pilgrim, reinforces the idea that all
women match a certain unjust category. Vonnegut has received much praise for his novel
Slaughterhouse Five, however upon further analysis, his portrayal of female characters fit flawed
stereotypes.
Notably, perhaps the most baffling character Billy Pilgrim belittles is his wife Valencia Merble.

Testing Frequency Distributions ( 314 Words )
Testing Frequency Distributions (314 words)
Using the NCOVR_US_HOMICIDES data I investigated the distribution of female headed
households and family poverty to see if the data was normally distributed or not, this was the issue
that the research question and hypotheses focused on.
H1 Family poverty is skewed compared to a normal distribution
H2 Family poverty is not skewed compared to a normal distribution
The Chi squared test has certain requirements in terms of the minimum expected population for each
category. The data did not meet these criteria, meaning that the chi squared test in this circumstance
would be inappropriate. To avoid such issues, the nonparametric Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used
in preference as it has less rigorous data requirements..
The positive skewness values for FP89 (1.285) indicate that the sample is positively skewed compared
to a normal (Gaussian) distribution, with a long right tail. The kurtosis value is 2.013, compared to a
normal distribution which would have a Kurtosis value of 0.00. Thus, the test has indicated that the
distribution of both samples is substantially more peaked than would be the case for a normal sample
distribution, this means that the null hypothesis should be rejected and thus that family poverty is
skewed compared to a normal distribution.
This is likely to be the case because family poverty is likely to reach a tipping point beyond which it is
unsustainable, possibly due to high values of poverty being deemed

Caccacti In The Sonoran Desert
In the course of this work , we have demonstrated the strong survival skills of the cacti in the Sonoran
Desert. They take full advantage of the rainy seasons in the desert, and strengthen their ability of
absorbing and storing water; they change their appearance to adapt to the arid environment by, for
example, evolving the leaves into the spines; they adjust the photosynthesis by separating it into two
steps. All these changes that the desert plants have made allow them to acclimatize to the harsh
environmental conditions in the desert. At the same time, we have also presented many different uses
of the cacti, the contributions that they have made to both local wildlife and residents. However, these

Emotional Intelligence By Daniel Goleman
The members of this group collaborated through email after the reading groups were assigned through
email. A Google Doc was then created to publish brief ideas about the book once read. The members
then through email again divided up the sections of this book review to complete the rough draft of the
assignment. Once completed, members were able to comment and edit each section. The group
finalized the project through email.
Synopsis Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence, discusses the idea of intelligence being
more than a matter of cognitive ability. In part one and two of the book, Goleman discusses how the
brain processes emotions. In these chapters the author describes the cortex and the limbic system.
Rationality is job of the cortex while the limbic system processes your emotions. He suggests that the
emotional intelligence can be a learned skill. In the next chapter Daniel Goleman uses studies to show
that many high IQ scoring students have underperformed in their lives while many average people
have become huge successes. Goleman stated that if the IQ scoring has little to do with success and
that your 80% success is based on your emotional intelligence.
He describes self awareness or self observation. He says that you should know yourself and your
strengths instead of your IQ test and its results. He suggested that some people are more attuned to the
emotional mind s symbols instead of traditional knowledge tested by IQ tests. However, Goleman

Questions On Students With Students
4. Number rainbows
a. I will be working with student on their targeted number for this student. We made a number line
starting at zero and then counting up to their practice number. I then started by stating that we were
going to create a rainbow. I asked the student if they could find two number in the number line that
could equal their practice number. Usually, they states their practice number and zero and if you add
them together you get the practice number. Then I encouraged the student to look for another pair of
number that would equal the practice number. I will prompt thee student to keep looking for pair of
number until they have found all the pair then I ask them to draw a line connecting the two numbers in
the pair. After the student had created the rainbow I will have them color the rainbow. After they have
colored it I had the student write number sentences using the number pairs to equal the practice
number. After they have written the student has finished creating the number sentences I reviewed the
sentences with the student.
5. Snap it
a. In this lesson I work with the student on their practice number. The student started out with a stack
of unfix cubes that equals their practice number. I then prompted the student to place the unfix cubes
behind their back. I then modeled how they would snap the stack in half. Then I showed the student
then when I pulled out the stack in was broken in two. I had the student practiced just snapping the
stack a few times.

The Causes Of Obesity And Obesity
Aaron Heiden Robert S. Pilsner WR 121 17 March 2013 The Causes of Obesity Many people
speculate that obesity is genetic, but is it? Is childhood obesity caused by a lack of exercise, an
unhealthy diet, or both? Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or overweight
people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent. There have always
been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this percentage of our population
has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to the topic of obesity, most of us will
readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of
why it is happening. Whereas some are convinced that this trait is genetic, others maintain that people
become obese simply due to diet and lack of exercise. In discussions of overweight children, one
controversial issue has been who is at risk. On the one hand, A. Cattaneo argues that ...excess
adiposity is a key risk factor for many chronic diseases. On the other hand, Reilly, J. J. contends that
there is a ...need for practical, objective, methods that both identify the fattest children and adolescents
adequately, and identify those who are at greatest risk of the co morbidities of obesity. Others even
maintain these traits are genetic and obese people are not more at risk than others. My own view is
obesity is not inherited genetically, and that maintaining a proper diet and exercising can

The Go Between By Ali Smith Summary
The Go Between is a short story, written by Ali Smith in 2009. This short story is based on the United
Nations adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Ali Smith finds inspiration in an
article about the right to freedom of movement, which also is the theme and case in this short story.
Many people try to travel from Africa to the south of Europe, due to poverty, war or hunger. This short
story deals with the fact that everyone has their human rights, and they have the freedom of
movement. They are free to travel anywhere they want.

These short sentences give the reader a view into most African people s life. Their life is often boring

Practices that cause failure in leadership and management:
Ignoring the environment
One of the best ways to ensure failure in an organization is to manage it without regard for its external
environment, ignoring those stakeholders who play such an important role in the organizations success
or failure. To ignore the potential power possessed by the various stakeholder groups is unwise and it
often results from either ignorance or stagnation on the part of the developing organization.
Incorrectly identifying solutions to problems
It has been a trait of managers to want to treat symptoms rather than finding the root cause of a
problem and then they wonder why the problem keeps coming back. Many times managers fail to
realize that some of the problems that occur are just minor glitches, while the rest of the lot have a real
effect on the bottom line. Successful managers are the ones who can pinpoint which problems will
have the biggest impact on the bottom line and then focus their efforts in managing solutions to those
problems.

An Unequal Distribution Of Wealth And Power Across The Nation
Living in America, I have always been aware of fact that there is an unequal distribution of wealth and
power across the nation. However, I was unaware that there is such a significant gap between the rich
and the poor. It was made clear in the video Wealth Inequality in America , that the top 1% has more
power and wealth than the middle and poor classes. The rich can get away with not paying their taxes
and sitting on their pile of free money. In the meantime, the poorest people are down to the loose
change in their pockets and are still paying their taxes. Corporations today have more privileges in
America, including a voice in the democracy. People like us are being excluded from important
decision making regarding our economic lives. Our understanding of what s going on with the wealth
distribution and the actuality of what s going on is two completely different things. So you may ask,
what s the reason behind this inequality? The answer is corporations and big businesses. Corporations
such as Bank of America, Nike, Google, Apple, and Microsoft are rising to power. Corporations have
also completely diminished the original intent of our Founding Fathers. According to Collin and
Yeskel s Economic Apartheid in America , it s sad to say that many Americans are unaware of these
things and it s starting to affect us as a country day by day. But while the truth of the economy may be
difficult to understand, Collins, Yeskel, and Perkins clarified and changed my views on the

The Mongol Empire And The Impact Of The Mongol Empire
Revised paper proposal and bibliography
The Mongol empire was one the greatest empires of all time expanding all over Central Asia.
Bordering Chinese states, the Khwarazmian empire, present day Afghanistan, Siberia, Iran, and many
more, at its height the mongol empire was over 20,000,000 square kilometers. This was all possible
due to extraordinary men in Central Asia, ruled by Genghis khan emperor of the Mongol empire.
These Asian nomads along with their fearless and intelligent leader, flourished against numerous odds
impacting all those whom they waged war against. A recipient of this impact in particular was Russia.
It was around 1219 when the Mongols first entered the Kievan Russia marking the beginning of the
interactions of the two. With the Mongols rise in establishing one of the largest contiguous empire in
history and having Russia only distances away the collision of the two were inevitable. As history
shows this collision did happen in the year 1236 which marked the beginning of great impact that the
Mongols would have on the Russian empire culturally, politically, and economically.
Prior to the rise of the Mongol empire and their invasion of Russia, was a time of violence. Mongolia
separated by tribes and provinces was a non unified empire with little impact to Central Asia. Being
separated, feuds between provinces of power and money were the reason why Mongolia remained
separated. The provinces after a long a grueling process eventually became united by a

The Power Of Language In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
The power of language dominates the minds of the characters in Animal Farm by George Orwell, as
they embark on a journey to rebellion. In the novel, Orwell assigns devious tactics to the animals that
they use to reflect on the power of language. Not only does the author use propaganda to reflect the
power of language, but he also adds a disposition of persuasiveness. Orwell incorporates power of
language by having characters, like Squealer, integrate many different forms of propaganda. Another
way that power of language is used in this novel is persuasion by the lead animals on the farm. The
author uses these tactics to reflect on the power of language, in order to show the importance of
words. To begin with, George Orwell consistently includes methods of propaganda, meaning
government communications to the public that are designed to influence opinion. This is seen a lot
throughout Animal Farm, with it s purpose being to emphasize the power of language. He does so by
having characters, like Squealer, use many slick tactics while performing speeches to the animals.
When declaring that the pigs were keeping the milk and apples to themselves, Squealer uses not one,
but two great forms of propaganda. Those two being distraction tactics and appeals to authority.
Squealer explained, Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself! Our sole
object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (and this has been proved by
Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig (35). In this

Pondicherry Women In Freedom Movement
Pondicherry was under the control of the French Since 1673. The French India was not an integrated
territory. They were separated in different regions. The people of this region were speaking different
language and practicing different social habits, initially that was accepted here. They condemned the
Imperialist policy of French India. The freedom movement started here very seriously after India s
Independence. The native Pondicherry women in too carried the task and participated in the freedom
struggle against the French rule in Pondicherry.
During the merger movement V. Subbiah, then the communist leader in Pondicherry, organized
labourers movement against the cotton textile mill management and the French administration. The
women who were working in the textile mill joined in that protest very boldly. Those who actively
participated in the movement were Bangarrammal, Avaniammal, Thaiyanayagiammal, Aukammal,

women had the capacity and ability to participate in the Merger Movement in Pondicherry.1 The role

Woody Guthrie s Song This Land Is Your Land
In 1940, Woody Guthrie wrote the song This Land is Your Land. He wrote it to explain that America is
everyone s, not just the people who can pay for it. He traveled across the U.S.A singing hundreds of
song that he wrote. He also made quotes that are still famous today. This song and these quotes are
similar to each other, but they also are different from each other. In these ways, This Land is Your
Land is similar to Woody s quotes. First of all, they are similar because they both say Woody will
never give up singing until his very last second on Earth. He states it in the quotes, where he says I
will fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my last drop of blood. In the song, he says
nobody living can ever stop me. Another similarity is they are saying that everyone is worth it,
everyone has a place. That is what Woody believed in. Finally, they are similar because they both
came from Woody, they both told what he felt in his heart. It is easy to tell when your hear the music

American Youth in the 1960s
America has in a short time been established as a nation that symbolizes acceptance and change. It has
progressed into a country of equality that finds its foundation in its personal freedoms and the
progressive movement of technology, politics, economics, social views, ethics and so forth since the
American Revolution. It has been changing rapidly since the influx of immigrants that came here
before the Revolution. The 1950s were a happy time. I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver were on
television. The Everly Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley were popular acts in
music. The youth movement of the 1960s was necessary in order for America to progress in social,
political, economic, and technological ways that could further America from the 1950s into a new era
of personal identity and freedom of expression. It was a time of fathers going to work, mothers staying
home and tending to the housework, and kids hanging out in the suburban neighborhoods. The 1950s
were the end of World War II which brought back many young serviceman to the states to start
families and get jobs. This inflow of young and eager men put a lot of money into industry and goods
not available during the war. This created a boom in the economy. Suburbs started to pop up
everywhere because all these young men and their families needed housing. Levitt Co. was the reason
for this. They built preplanned communities that contained cheap and affordable houses. Most looked

The technique was first introduced in the early 20th Century (Pearson 1901 and Hotelling 1933 cited
in Kolenikov and Angeles 2004; Krishnan 2008). It is a multivariate analysis method that is used to
transform a large number of related (correlated) variables into a smaller and parsimonious set of
orthogonal (unrelated) factors. These unrelated factors, or the principal components as they are
popularly called, are linear weighted combinations of the initial variables used in the data set. The
technique orders the components so that the first is a linear index of all the variables that accounts for
the largest amount of variation in all the variables, while the second, which is orthogonal to the first,
accounts for the maximum variation that is not accounted for in the first index. Each subsequent
component accounts for the maximum variation that is not accounted for by the preceding components
until all the variance in the original variables is accounted for. A formal definition of principal
components analysis is presented below.

Abstract
Teams are formed when individuals with a common taste, preference, liking, and attitude come and
work together for a common goal. Teams play a very important role in organizations as well as our
personal lives.
Teamwork is essential for competing in today s global arena, where individual perfection is not as
desirable as a high level of collective performance. In knowledge based enterprises, teams are the
norm rather than the exception. A critical feature of these teams is that they have a significant degree
of empowerment, or decision making authority. There are many different kinds of teams: ... Show

Differences of belief between different ethnic, cultural, and racial groups are undoubtedly the biggest
contributor to disputes within the history of the world. WWI started due to a disagreement between

Despite being one of the most accepting countries in the world, Canada is no exception. Since

mainly the French and English community residing in Canada. Although both groups belong to the

During the 1960s, the Quiet Revolution occurred in Canada, a struggle in regards to French Canadians
becoming integrated into Canadian society. It was also during this time that many notable separatist
movements emerged from the depths of Quebec, including the Parti Québécois and the Bloc
Québécois. The Bloc Québécois began as a leftist movement but quickly grew into a party by 1963;
similarly, the Parti Québécois was formed in 1968. They mainly gained support because French
Canadians believed their rights were being compromised by English Canadians. Krueger states in
Encyclopedia Britannica, French Canadian nationalists favoured some form of enhanced status for
Quebec: special status within confederation, a new form of association on the basis of equality with
English Canada, or complete independence as a sovereign country. On November 15, 1976, the Parti
Québécois finally came into power in Quebec. Despite coming very close to separating over the years
with a vote turnout of 49.4 to 50.6 in 1991, the Parti Québécois never managed to truly fulfill its
purpose of separating from Canada. This was in part due to new language rights introduced to Canada

perspective called The Cult of True Womanhood, which meant a woman should be devout, unstained,
obedient and well behaved. However, men could practically be the opposite of the women and yet be
depicted as inferior to men. In addition, another historical view presented is Male Gender Role
Identity in which a man could be prosperous by being tough, suppressing emotions, avoiding feminine
actions and passions. Furthermore, a psychological test that was performed was the Attitude Interest

men are tough and independent, whereas women are weak and dependent.

I have learnt the importance of good communication and how it is essential for building trust. (Spouse
et al 2008). I did feel a little vulnerable however but experience gave me the confidence to give the
correct level of information. I have learnt that I need to show sensitivity and give the correct amount
of information that was required to facilitate their reassurance. Evaluation Although the situation was
quite challenging, it provided me with some useful experiences for the future practice. I understand
that all institutions should have a policy for documenting the assessment of patients, including
pressure ulcers (Morison 2001). I have come to be familiar with the homes assessment policy using
the Sterling Pressure Sore Severity Scale and most importantly I have learned that by using a universal
assessment tool it supports a systemic and consistent approach to pressure ulcer evaluation. This
therefore supporting continuity of care. I have significantly developed my skill in wound care

a basis for deciding the effectiveness of the current treatment. Conclusion Skin tears and pressure

Our relationships with others depend on our mentality of thinking. Many people would like to receive
the promotion or save their marriage but, they were not able to properly interact with others. There are
six paradigms of human interaction (Covey, 1989). The fifth habit is to seek to understand, and then be
understood. That means that the listener should not just hear the other person, but try to empathize
with him. Most of the people can hear what others have to say; however they don t listen to others, the
message that other person is trying to relate goes by them (Covey, 1989). The sixth habit is to
synergize. The author is relating to work in the teams. He states that the all team members are worth
more that each of them separately put together. The group depends on each other. The differences
between the people make the group stronger because of their differences. Every individual has a
different prospective (Covey, 1989). The last of seven habits is to sharpen the saw. Most people tend
to forget themselves and tend to stay in one place. Many of the people tend to focus on the activities
that are not relevant to their goals or values. Every person should continue to grow using the four
elements of nature. That involves staying fit in physical condition. That can be achieved by proper
nutrition and daily exercises. Mental fit refers to reading and writing. Social element of nature refers

Women And The Role Of Women In The 1920 s
Women of The 1920s
During the first World War I women were left at home to try and figure out how they were going to
care for their families. Their husband, father, and brothers were sent off to war. Many companies
around the United States were left with production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a
time period, where women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they
had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home to cook, clean,
and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their lives coming and going from war.
These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is the era where women were emerging. Women were
changing by being more independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry,
and movies.
One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the women is their
sexuality. The women before those who became empowered in the 1920 s would never open up about
their sexuality. The women prior to the 1920 s had an image of modesty and were viewed to be
married to only one man. In 1920, the women began to express their sexual desires freely. Singers like
Bessie Smith could paint a picture and bring anything to life with just her voice. One example by
Bessie Smith I m Wild About That Thing . In this song, Bessie Smith sings of how she loves her man
and how happy he makes her. In her lyrics she says Do it easy honey don t get

Piano by D. H. Lawrence Essay
Piano by D. H. Lawrence
The poem Piano, by D. H. Lawrence describes his memories of childhood. Hearing a woman singing
takes him to the time when his mother played piano on Sunday evenings. In the present, this woman is
singing and playing the piano with great passion. However, the passionate music is not affecting him,
because he can only think about his childhood rather than the beauty of the music that exists in his

A woman is singing softly to the speaker in the dusk. The speaker is describing the place he is at in the

This scenery is very pleasant and happy. A child is under his mother, he is touching her feet. This
shows how his childhood must have been, and the readers can see the reason why he wants to go back
to his childhood. In the next four lines of the poem, the speaker talks about how he feels as he
imagines his childhood. Even though he is in front of this woman who is singing and playing music, in
spite of himself, his present state, this insidious mastery of song betrays the speaker back till he weeps
to go back to his childhood. The guileful dominance of the song the woman is singing beguiles him to
think about his past experience. His heart weeps to belong to the old Sunday evenings at home. He
really misses the time when he was little, and he used to hear his mother playing piano every Sunday
evening. He wants to go back to his childhood and belong to that time again.
He describes the atmosphere at that time. It was winter outside and hymns in the cosy parlour, the
tinkling piano our guide. He is adding more description to the scenery he was imagining in the first
four lines of the poem. It s old Sundays, because this is when he was little, so he is emphasizing the
old times by using the word, old in front of Sundays to describe that he is not talking about present
Sundays. The time of the day is

The Help Movie Analysis
The Help, a film centered around the theme of discrimination based on the color of one s skin, is set in
Jackson, Mississippi during the early 1960s. The story took place before the Civil Rights Movement
and Act of 1964 after which all citizens of the United States were guaranteed the same provisions and
racial segregation was prohibited. We see innumerous instances of the white ladies viewing their black
domestic maids as inferior PEOPLE. This shows us how the skin color of an individual in Southern
society actually determined which class he or she was 3 / 3 born into and the socioeconomic
conditions he had to endure during his lifetime. Each and every colored character we come across in
the course of the plot fits into the system as a member of the working class while most white women
we know are the employers of these colored helps as part of high society. In essence, this movie is
about a white woman who told the story of black women. Skeeter interviewed different domestic
maids like Aibileen and Minny, who spent their lives looking after others white children while their
own were back at home. She documented their suffering and experiences and published them in a
book known as The Help within the movie. These two distinct sections of society, whites and colored
were actually separate classes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One day, it is heavily pouring and Minny who is of a rather rebellious nature decides to go ahead and
use the bathroom inside despite her mistress forbidding her to, even though she knows that she will
most definitely get fired for it. This suggests that the colored maids who were to serve the white
women from the upper classes for a nominal wage did so initially but soon, the superiority complex in
the discriminatory mindset of their employers got to them and they could tolerate it no

In like manner, this minority was underrepresented. The Anglos representing for Mexican Americans
were just representatives in name. The inequalities and unjust treatment were evident for these citizens
in Texas. The unfairness resulted in emerging of some Mexican American leaders who sought for
reforms. These few among the many have seen the poverty, and inequality conditions of their own
people. They understood that some measures must be done to improve the lives of Mexican
Americans. The early Mexican American leaders began to form organizations. Also, the civil rights

This demographic is significant to the electoral politics because in closed observation, Texans are

Archetypes Carl Jung
Carl Jung was a Swiss innovator progressing various theories of the unconscious mind. The Swiss
psychotherapist based his work on Sigmund Freud s perspectives and beliefs of the unconscious mind.
Carl Jung had deducted that a human s unconscious personality could not have started in the cognizant
personality. The thought that certain ideas and pieces of imagination within the unconscious were
shared to all individuals within a society was assumed by Jung. This mental imagery were claimed as
Archetypes by Jung (hence the term Jungian archetypes ) due to the images being ubiquitous and all
inclusive to humans. A famous example of a Jungian archetype is the structure of the father and
mother. Carl Jung later assumed through his work that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Swiss psychotherapist claimed that these symbolic dreams tie into a total human collective. I
believe this to a very small extent. In the terms of that our human ancestors have greatly melded and
mixed over time to where almost all of modern society has genetic ties, then absolutely. I say this
because genetics can influence the way humans think, physically endure the environment, survive, etc.
There may be a great similarity in the way humans are physically constructed due to genetics. This
aspect can also greatly affect brain structure. Assuming that a human s brain works similarly to his or

Anorexia In Sports
According to Smink, van Hoeken, Hoek, Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses with high
mortality rates; they are often long standing and make a significant negative impact to the individual s
quality of life (Bratland Sanda Sundgot Borgen 449). Eating disorders are categorized into three main
types: bulimia, anorexia, and eating disorders otherwise not specified (such as binge eating disorder).
Bulimia involves the act of binge eating that occurs when an individual consumes a lot of food in a
short period of time, binge, and in order to reverse the binge that the individual partook in, the
individual will purge, as in make themselves regurgitate. As per anorexia, according to Currie and

Learning Behavior Essays
Learning Behavior
Psychologists have preformed many studies and proposed many theories regarding learning. Learning
can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B.
Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about
learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson
studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between
outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Classical
conditioning is a process of learning associations between stimuli used by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian
physiologist. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An
operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences.
Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There
are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing
a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal
of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two
aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of
a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t
increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an
appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such
as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An
alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem
behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the
reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be
time out for a child because he or she is no longer

Net Neutrality and Market Regulation
With a unanimous 3 0 vote on January 14, 2014, the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the
District of Columbia circuit court gutted key pieces of the Federal Communication
Commission s (FCC) 2010 order to broadband service providers, or, net neutrality rules .
Simply put, net neutrality is the principle that broadband providers should treat all Internet content and
applications equally (Lyons). Based on telecommunications law, the FCC s 2010 order had created a
set of three primary rules for net neutrality to govern how broadband companies were to operate. The
first, called the Transparency Rule required companies to
publicly disclose accurate information regarding the network management practices, ... Show more

Both Wu and Lyons approach the net neutrality debate from a legal angle these angles are, of course,
different and lead to drastically different trajectories.
Whereas Wu approaches it with a concern for fairness to the consumer and the small market ,
Lyons examines the apparent lack of fairness towards the providers. It goes without saying that the
repercussions of this angle for Lyons distance his argument from many audience.
Furthermore, both use history Wu, in terms of cyclical trends throughout history and new
technologies, and Lyons through a comprehensive analysis of the past and current applications of
unreasonable discrimination as laid out through §202. Ultimately, Lyons opines, that
broadband providers should be permitted the same flexibility [as telephone companies] and
invoking the traditional language of common carriage while redefining the duties that language
carriers, is both unwise and an incorrect interpretation of the history of common carriage
(1071). Wu and Lyons, having approached the debate from different sides, arrive at starkly polar, but
yet both still legitimate, conclusions. While Wu may be a proponent of Title II as a 5,

The Battle Of Defending The Red Army Essay
The date is August 15, 1942. 19 year old Alexei Petrov has been on edge for the last two days as
German forces continue to siege the city of Stalingrad. Alexei and 100,000 other soldiers of the Red
Army are tasked with the arduous mission of defending the city at all costs. Joseph Stalin has ordered
a no retreat policy, and made it clear that it is paramount to win the siege of Stalingrad. It has been a
year and a few months since the Germans invaded the Soviet Union and it seems as though nothing
could exacerbate the German advance. Alexei Petrov was born May 28, 1923, to a family of 2 sisters
in St. Petersburg. His father was a shopkeeper and his mother was a secretary. His family was not
wealthy, nor insolvent. A year and a half earlier, Alexei was working in his father s shop and was his
apprentice. He was a tall, muscular young man who was very athletic. Also, he had pale skin, with
light blue eyes, and dark brown hair. Alexei was an erudite young man, with a promising future.
Alexei had morals and was an honest young adult. He had no ambition of joining the army as he did
not condone killing a human being. However, in the summer of 1941, he was drafted just as most men
his age were. He had been fighting on the front lines for almost a year and had witnessed more tragedy
than anyone should have to in his/her whole life. By August of 1942 Alexei was no longer a fledgling
as he had been fighting for a year. He began the fight on the Soviet German border located in

The Sixth Extinction Chapter Summary
American journalist Elizabeth Kolbert authored The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History in 2014.
This is a non fictional account of what Kolbert had named the sixth extinction : an extinction event
caused by humans similar to ones that destroyed earlier forms of life, like the dinosaurs and
megafauna.
Chapter One details the ancestry of frogs and examines the timeline of amphibians on Earth, as well as
the increase in frog extinction rate. Kolbert argues that the observed extinction rates which are
exceeding expected background extinction rates suggest that catastrophe is ahead for Earth. Humans
are key to the extinction of Panamanian frogs due to their spreading of the Chtrid fungus, which is not
native to Panama. Thus, Kolbert sees humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter Four looks at the dust created by the Cretaceous Paleogene extinction event, which resulted in
many species excluding the ammonites dying out. This illustrates that the advantageous nature of
some traits can be altered by a single moment.
Chapter Five examines glaciation and the extinction of graptolites and other clades. The decrease in
sea level as a result of dropping carbon dioxide levels caused a huge change in the chemistry of the
ocean. Human activity is a contributor in this, through the damming of major rivers, the use of
accessible freshwater run off, the removal of primary producers from oceans, deforestation, and fossil
fuels.
Chapter Six depicts the rising concentration of carbon dioxide in the air due to the burning of fossil
fuels and deforestation, which has resulted in the production of carbonic acid in oceans, the drop in pH
of those oceans, and the death of marine life, including the Castello Aragonese.
Chapter Seven details ocean acidification and the extinction of coral reefs, which is entirely possible

The scenario takes place between a knowledgeable Catholic man, and a practicing Protestant adult.
The Catholic man is Charles, who is a family friend of Steve, and has a very in depth knowledge of
both the Catholic and Protestant faith. The Protestant adult is Steve, who is curious into learning the
importance of the Catholic faith in Tradition and Scripture. Steve presents to Charles many legitimate
questions about his faith and legitimacy of the Catholic tradition.

This shows that in unity one another together are what help bring out the Word of God, which is

Steve: Nonetheless, the New Testament in the Bible is the direct tradition from the Apostles because
all they learned from Jesus is recorded in their Gospels and books. As well as their direct sight of the
Resurrection of Jesus, this is the center belief of the Catholic Faith that is also stated.
Charles: Even though, much of what you said is true because many men were inspired by God and
wrote down some of their thoughts that makes up Scripture. A good example is in John s Gospel, who
is one of the Twelve Apostles stated, But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one
of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be
written. (John 22:25). This shows that not all Jesus taught is contained in Sacred Scripture, as well as
acknowledging that all they wrote came from His inspiration and not His command for the apostles to
write it down. Therefore, showing that would have been impossible to write everything in the Bible.
Steve: I still think that this is not enough proof to show that not all of Scripture contains the Apostolic
Traditions?
Charles: Some of the Apostolic Tradition that are not included in Scriptures are prayers, such as the
Nicene Creed that was orally handed down by generation to generation, and the liturgy of the
Eucharist that was initially taught down by the action

Analysis of Randall Jarrell s The Death of the Ball...
Many of the great poems we read today were written in times of great distress. One of these writers
was Randall Jarrell. After being born on May 6, 1914, in Nashville Tennessee, Jarrell and his parents
moved to Los Angeles where his dad worked as a photographer. When Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell divorced,
Randall and his younger brother returned to Nashville to live with their mother. While in Nashville,
Randall attended Hume Frogg high school. Randall showed his love for the arts while in high school
by participating in dramatics and journalism. Jarrell continued his career in the arts when he wrote and
edited for Vanderbilt s humor magazine, The Vanderbilt Masquerader. After earning his graduate
degree at Vanderbilt, Jarrell accepted a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Jarrell says the words, hunched in the belly, the reader gets a very uncomfortable feeling. In line
number three the reader gets visual imagery as well as slight tactile imagery. The visual imagery
comes when Jarrell says, Six miles from earth. The reader gets a clear image of something being very
high above the ground. When the author says, loosed from the dream of life, the reader gets a slight
feeling of death or a vision of someone dying. The fourth line, I woke to the black flak and the
nightmare fighters, brings the reader visual, auditory and tactile imagery. The reader can picture
someone waking up to shrapnel, from an exploding bomb, flying by their head. One can hear the
gunfire of the, nightmare fighters, along with the exploding shells. The reader also gets a tactile image
when the author says, I woke up, because everyone knows what it is like to wake up from a sleep. In
the fifth and final line the reader gets a very graphic visual image. The reader can picture someone s
body being so destroyed that instead of removing the body from the turret the soldiers must wash it
out with a hose. Jarrell also used a great deal of figurative language in this poem. The entire poem is
an extended metaphor. This poem compares the struggles of war with the struggles of being born.
More specifically, it compares being killed the belly of a plane and being killed in the womb of a
mother. We see

  • 2. The Issue of Palestinian Refugees Right of Return The Issue of Right of Return of the Palestinian Refugees The problem is that Israelis and Palestinians are divided over the more than 4 million Palestinian refugees who insist on returning to the homes that they lost during the 1948 and later during the 6 Day War in 1967. Palestinians claim that these were their homes and they have a right to return to them Israelis, on the other hand, generally, find the idea of such an exponential return of Palestinians to the heart of Israel frightening since it may override the ratio of balance of Palestinians to Israelis as well as importing possible terrorism (e.g. Quandt, 2005) The refuge problem first initiated with the 1948 War Which Israelis dub the War of Independence and Palestinians call the Nakba when some 700,000 Arab residents (85%) left their home, some voluntarily, others forced, finding refuge in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Gaza Strip, which was then administered by Egypt. Others were left homeless in Israel. (Brynen, 2007) whilst the Six Day War caused a further flight of 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians from Israeli won territory. The Oslo Accords in 1993, negotiated by the EU, Israel, and the US, recognized a Palestinian state under the Fatah party (led by Yasser Arafat) and established that the Palestinian refugees would be controlled by this rule. They also planned to solve the refugee problem (largely by monetary compensation) by 1996. Unrest and terrorism, as well as internal conflict on the solution, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To comprehend complexities involved in value chain a qualitative approach termed value chain analysis approach was used. The approach is descriptive and allows linkage analysis of the farmer with different actors that are part of the Ziziphus mauritiana chain. Inter mediators or the middlemen buy Ziziphus mauritiana from rural peasants in Muzarabani. The middlemen also sale Ziziphus mauritiana to each other. In the novel Still Alice by Lisa Genova 2007, the concept of humanism influences on her perception. This concept is a moral philosophy which mainly focuses on the value or of human being. Essay on Elitism in American Politics Elitism is the belief or philosophy that a particular group of persons with exceptional abilities, specialized training or experience, wealth, or other unique characteristics, are the people whose interpretations on different matters are to be taken most seriously. More simply, some believe these people are best fit to administer or whose understandings or actions are mostly likely to be beneficial and profitable. Otherwise, the term elitism could be used to pronounce a condition in which power is in fact focused in the hands of an elite, whether rightly or wrong. The elitist theorists and a large portion of Americans believe, that this country cannot be run by powerless masses of average voters to chose a leader well fit to lead our nations in the right direction. Many Americans believe that the United States government is untouchable by the everyday citizen, and in many ways this is very true. Yet a democracy depends for its very livelihood on expressive contacts between the people and the government. For example, campaigns and elections focus on citizens and remind them that they have ultimate power, the vote. The campaigns of recent years are increasingly extravagant and much longer than those of the past. Costing millions upon millions of dollars, enticing the attention of the public anyway imaginable. There were probably about 10 million Indians living in North America at the time the white man arrived. The first Native Americans were believed to have arrived during the last ice age. Somewhere around 20,000 30,000 years ago and they came through a land bridge across the Bering Sound, from northeastern Siberia into Alaska. The name Indian was given by Christopher Columbus who believed mistakenly that the mainland and islands of America were part of the Indies in Asia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the birds wanted all land so they would have more food. Other birds wanted all water because they liked it that way. They eventually could not decide so they appointed Eagle as their chief and he was to decide for them. The Eagle decided on land and then asked who would go and search for the land. The Dove volunteered and flew away. He came back after four days and said that he could not find land anywhere. The Crawfish came along and Eagle asked him if he would go. The Crawfish disappeared under the water and after four days came up to the surface with some dirt in his claws. Crawfish made a ball of the dirt and handed it to Chief Eagle, who flew away with it for four days. When Eagle returned he told the council that there was now land and that an island had been formed. Gradually, the island grew bigger and bigger and the water became lower and lower. More islands appeared and grew together forming the earth. (Manasco, 1985) Almost every Native American tribe has significant stories about the eagle. One story from the Walla Walla tribe concerns the two identical wing feathers found close to the breast on each wing. The two feathers are called THE TWINS . These feathers are aerodynamic and able to be twisted by the bird to give a smooth level effortless flight, when riding thermal currents. • 7. Lebana Essay After its partial withdrawal from most Lebanese territory in 1978 following Operation Litani, Israel maintained a military occupation of roughly 10% of Lebanon through a self declared nine mile deep security zone in the southern part of the country (Ruebner, 2000: 1). The security zone was designed to act as a buffer zone between Israel and Lebanon, in order to minimize cross border attacks (Ibid). In defending the security zone with the IDF, the SLA bore a large share of the fighting against Hizballah (Party of God) and to a lesser extent, Amal (Hope), two Lebanese Shi a organizations that fought to oust Israel from the security zone (Ruebner, 2000: 2). Haddad operated independently of the Beirut government despite efforts of various Christian parties to control him (Ibid). Israel paid an average monthly salary of between $500 and $800 to SLA members and together with maintenance and infrastructure expenditures, it is estimated that it spent a total of 35 million annually on the SLA and its dependents (Ruebner, 2000: 2). Israel s control over the SLA was pervasive, especially that it trained, equipped, advised, resupplied and paid the salaries of the troops (Directorate of Intelligence, 1986). SLA units in the zone sustained most of the casualties and bore the brunt of the fighting (Ibid). According to an SLA spokesperson, since its inception to March 2000, the SLA suffered 621 military fatalities and 200 civilian fatalities, compared to the IDF roughly 250 fatalities in the security zone , since its establishment in 1985 to April 2000 (Blanche, 1999: 78 sandbags). Upon forming his government in July 1999, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak pledged to withdraw the IDF from Lebanon within a year responding to a mounting frustration over continued Israeli casualties in Lebanon (Ruebner, 2000: 3). Vonnegut published his novel at the start of the second wave of feminism where women s rights were finally beginning to get recognition (Napikoski, Feminism in 1969 ). However, the main character in Slaughterhouse Five, Billy Pilgrim, reinforces the idea that all women match a certain unjust category. Vonnegut has received much praise for his novel Slaughterhouse Five, however upon further analysis, his portrayal of female characters fit flawed stereotypes. • 9. Testing Frequency Distributions ( 314 Words ) Testing Frequency Distributions (314 words) Using the NCOVR_US_HOMICIDES data I investigated the distribution of female headed households and family poverty to see if the data was normally distributed or not, this was the issue that the research question and hypotheses focused on. H1 Family poverty is skewed compared to a normal distribution H2 Family poverty is not skewed compared to a normal distribution The Chi squared test has certain requirements in terms of the minimum expected population for each category. The data did not meet these criteria, meaning that the chi squared test in this circumstance would be inappropriate. To avoid such issues, the nonparametric Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used in preference as it has less rigorous data requirements.. The positive skewness values for FP89 (1.285) indicate that the sample is positively skewed compared to a normal (Gaussian) distribution, with a long right tail. The kurtosis value is 2.013, compared to a normal distribution which would have a Kurtosis value of 0.00. Thus, the test has indicated that the distribution of both samples is substantially more peaked than would be the case for a normal sample distribution, this means that the null hypothesis should be rejected and thus that family poverty is skewed compared to a normal distribution. This is likely to be the case because family poverty is likely to reach a tipping point beyond which it is unsustainable, possibly due to high values of poverty being deemed ... They take full advantage of the rainy seasons in the desert, and strengthen their ability of absorbing and storing water; they change their appearance to adapt to the arid environment by, for example, evolving the leaves into the spines; they adjust the photosynthesis by separating it into two steps. All these changes that the desert plants have made allow them to acclimatize to the harsh environmental conditions in the desert. At the same time, we have also presented many different uses of the cacti, the contributions that they have made to both local wildlife and residents. A Google Doc was then created to publish brief ideas about the book once read. The members then through email again divided up the sections of this book review to complete the rough draft of the assignment. Once completed, members were able to comment and edit each section. The group finalized the project through email. Synopsis Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence, discusses the idea of intelligence being more than a matter of cognitive ability. In part one and two of the book, Goleman discusses how the brain processes emotions. In these chapters the author describes the cortex and the limbic system. Rationality is job of the cortex while the limbic system processes your emotions. He suggests that the emotional intelligence can be a learned skill. In the next chapter Daniel Goleman uses studies to show that many high IQ scoring students have underperformed in their lives while many average people have become huge successes. Goleman stated that if the IQ scoring has little to do with success and that your 80% success is based on your emotional intelligence. He describes self awareness or self observation. He says that you should know yourself and your strengths instead of your IQ test and its results. He suggested that some people are more attuned to the emotional mind s symbols instead of traditional knowledge tested by IQ tests. However, Goleman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We made a number line starting at zero and then counting up to their practice number. I then started by stating that we were going to create a rainbow. I asked the student if they could find two number in the number line that could equal their practice number. Usually, they states their practice number and zero and if you add them together you get the practice number. Then I encouraged the student to look for another pair of number that would equal the practice number. I will prompt thee student to keep looking for pair of number until they have found all the pair then I ask them to draw a line connecting the two numbers in the pair. After the student had created the rainbow I will have them color the rainbow. After they have colored it I had the student write number sentences using the number pairs to equal the practice number. After they have written the student has finished creating the number sentences I reviewed the sentences with the student. 5. Snap it a. • 13. The Causes Of Obesity And Obesity Aaron Heiden Robert S. Pilsner WR 121 17 March 2013 The Causes of Obesity Many people speculate that obesity is genetic, but is it? Is childhood obesity caused by a lack of exercise, an unhealthy diet, or both? Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or overweight people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent. There have always been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this percentage of our population has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to the topic of obesity, most of us will readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of why it is happening. Whereas some are convinced that this trait is genetic, others maintain that people become obese simply due to diet and lack of exercise. In discussions of overweight children, one controversial issue has been who is at risk. On the one hand, A. Cattaneo argues that ...excess adiposity is a key risk factor for many chronic diseases. On the other hand, Reilly, J. J. contends that there is a ...need for practical, objective, methods that both identify the fattest children and adolescents adequately, and identify those who are at greatest risk of the co morbidities of obesity. Others even maintain these traits are genetic and obese people are not more at risk than others. This short story is based on the United Nations adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Ali Smith finds inspiration in an article about the right to freedom of movement, which also is the theme and case in this short story. Many people try to travel from Africa to the south of Europe, due to poverty, war or hunger. This short story deals with the fact that everyone has their human rights, and they have the freedom of movement. They are free to travel anywhere they want. To ignore the potential power possessed by the various stakeholder groups is unwise and it often results from either ignorance or stagnation on the part of the developing organization. Incorrectly identifying solutions to problems It has been a trait of managers to want to treat symptoms rather than finding the root cause of a problem and then they wonder why the problem keeps coming back. Many times managers fail to realize that some of the problems that occur are just minor glitches, while the rest of the lot have a real effect on the bottom line. • 16. An Unequal Distribution Of Wealth And Power Across The Nation Living in America, I have always been aware of fact that there is an unequal distribution of wealth and power across the nation. However, I was unaware that there is such a significant gap between the rich and the poor. It was made clear in the video Wealth Inequality in America , that the top 1% has more power and wealth than the middle and poor classes. The rich can get away with not paying their taxes and sitting on their pile of free money. In the meantime, the poorest people are down to the loose change in their pockets and are still paying their taxes. Corporations today have more privileges in America, including a voice in the democracy. People like us are being excluded from important decision making regarding our economic lives. Our understanding of what s going on with the wealth distribution and the actuality of what s going on is two completely different things. So you may ask, what s the reason behind this inequality? The answer is corporations and big businesses. Corporations such as Bank of America, Nike, Google, Apple, and Microsoft are rising to power. Corporations have also completely diminished the original intent of our Founding Fathers. According to Collin and Yeskel s Economic Apartheid in America , it s sad to say that many Americans are unaware of these things and it s starting to affect us as a country day by day. • 18. The Mongol Empire And The Impact Of The Mongol Empire Revised paper proposal and bibliography The Mongol empire was one the greatest empires of all time expanding all over Central Asia. Bordering Chinese states, the Khwarazmian empire, present day Afghanistan, Siberia, Iran, and many more, at its height the mongol empire was over 20,000,000 square kilometers. This was all possible due to extraordinary men in Central Asia, ruled by Genghis khan emperor of the Mongol empire. These Asian nomads along with their fearless and intelligent leader, flourished against numerous odds impacting all those whom they waged war against. A recipient of this impact in particular was Russia. It was around 1219 when the Mongols first entered the Kievan Russia marking the beginning of the interactions of the two. With the Mongols rise in establishing one of the largest contiguous empire in history and having Russia only distances away the collision of the two were inevitable. As history shows this collision did happen in the year 1236 which marked the beginning of great impact that the Mongols would have on the Russian empire culturally, politically, and economically. Prior to the rise of the Mongol empire and their invasion of Russia, was a time of violence. Mongolia separated by tribes and provinces was a non unified empire with little impact to Central Asia. Being separated, feuds between provinces of power and money were the reason why Mongolia remained separated. The provinces after a long a grueling process eventually became united by a ... • 20. The Power Of Language In Animal Farm, By George Orwell The power of language dominates the minds of the characters in Animal Farm by George Orwell, as they embark on a journey to rebellion. In the novel, Orwell assigns devious tactics to the animals that they use to reflect on the power of language. Not only does the author use propaganda to reflect the power of language, but he also adds a disposition of persuasiveness. Orwell incorporates power of language by having characters, like Squealer, integrate many different forms of propaganda. Another way that power of language is used in this novel is persuasion by the lead animals on the farm. The author uses these tactics to reflect on the power of language, in order to show the importance of words. To begin with, George Orwell consistently includes methods of propaganda, meaning government communications to the public that are designed to influence opinion. This is seen a lot throughout Animal Farm, with it s purpose being to emphasize the power of language. He does so by having characters, like Squealer, use many slick tactics while performing speeches to the animals. When declaring that the pigs were keeping the milk and apples to themselves, Squealer uses not one, but two great forms of propaganda. Those two being distraction tactics and appeals to authority. Squealer explained, Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself! Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (and this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig (35). In this speech, Squealer brings up science, or appeals to authority to prove his point, when really, there is no actual evidence that the pigs absolutely need milk and apples. Appeals to authority is the act of claiming that something must be true because it is believed by someone who is said to be an authority on the subject. Orwell incorporates this tactic by having Squealer mention that the facts he uses are from an authority on the subject. What the animals don t suspect is that Squealer never proves that the information is factual. He also turns the table and informs the animals that the pigs aren t getting milk and apples because they want to or like them, it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the people can hear what others have to say; however they don t listen to others, the message that other person is trying to relate goes by them (Covey, 1989). • 35. Women And The Role Of Women In The 1920 s Women of The 1920s During the first World War I women were left at home to try and figure out how they were going to care for their families. Their husband, father, and brothers were sent off to war. Many companies around the United States were left with production needs and little to no employees to do the job. In a time period, where women are expected to be confident and independent, they had to also realize they had little to no power in society. They had societal rules that they must stay at home to cook, clean, and care for the children. With the men who were prominent in their lives coming and going from war. These factors caused the birth of a new era. This is the era where women were emerging. Women were changing by being more independent sexually and expressing their emotions through music, poetry, and movies. One important theme of the women of the 1920 s that connects various aspects of the women is their sexuality. The women before those who became empowered in the 1920 s would never open up about their sexuality. The story took place before the Civil Rights Movement and Act of 1964 after which all citizens of the United States were guaranteed the same provisions and racial segregation was prohibited. We see innumerous instances of the white ladies viewing their black domestic maids as inferior PEOPLE. This shows us how the skin color of an individual in Southern society actually determined which class he or she was 3 / 3 born into and the socioeconomic conditions he had to endure during his lifetime. Each and every colored character we come across in the course of the plot fits into the system as a member of the working class while most white women we know are the employers of these colored helps as part of high society. Learning can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B. Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences. Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be time out for a child because he or she is no longer ...
