Liberia Civil War Research Paper
Causes of Liberian Civil War
Have you ever been asked if you want long sleeves or short sleeves? If you were asked this, you
thought about shirts. In Liberia during the civil war, if the rebels caught you and asked this question,
they meant do you want your arms cut off at the shoulder or wrist. Liberia is located along the Atlantic
Coast of West Africa and its capital is Monrovia (Vinck, Pham, Kreutzer, 8). There are about 4 million
people and 17 major ethnic groups (9). Liberia s civil war between 1989 and 2003 left hundreds of
thousands dead and many more affected by the extreme violence that ravaged the country (3). There
are several fundamental causes for this devastating civil war and three of them are: the socio economic
policies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1970 s when educated indigenous Liberians protested the raise in rice prices, the Tolbert
government violently put down the protest by killing 40 students and wounding 400 (59). This set the
stage for a group called The People s Revolutionary Council led by Samuel Doe to lead a coup on
April 12, 1980 that took over the government killing President Tolbert and many others (61). Doe
became a dictator who put his ethnic Krahn tribe in charge of everything and took all the natural
resources for his own profit (62). Any ethnic groups not of the Krahn tribe were persecuted and many
were killed (63). Due to the atrocities suffered under Doe s dictatorship, different ethnic groups
formed rebel organizations to try to defeat Doe. Charles Taylor led an invasion into Liberia with the
backing of the Gola and Mano tribes (Global Security, 2). The Gio tribe under Prince Johnson formed
its own rebel force (2). This began a bloody three way war. Although the reason given for the civil war
was to provide different ethnic groups with the right to participate in the government, one of the
factors that drove the warlords was the desire to exploit Liberia s natural

The United States War On Terror
After the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the War on Terror was the strategy that the Bush
government developed with the aim to defeat the organization that had accomplished this, Al Qaeda.
The immediate response of the Bush Administration after the attack was the invasion of Afghanistan,
with the goal of eliminating and expel the targets that had made the country their sanctuary. This
group was presented as the main threat of the 21st century, and as the enemy at the global scale.
However, the idea of the War on Terror did not employ only in the Afghan context, the Islamic
terrorist threat was spread through nine principal theatres . A new phenomenon had appeared in the
international context, the Global Jihad , and the terrorist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was here that Galula implemented for the first time their knowledge of COIN.
Galula theory is based on the support of the population. This is divided between an active minority
supporting the insurgency, an active minority who would be willing to support the force or forces that
promote measures COIN, and finally, a large majority of the population passive . The aim of COIN
operations would therefore gain the support of the active minority that is potentially in their favour, so
that this in turn get mobilized the passive majority of the population against the insurgent group.
Besides military measures to reduce and eliminate the insurgent forces, for the author it is essential to
isolate the population of these groups, in order to avoid a possible mobilization of the same against the
interests of the COIN. This will require removing the alleged political organization that insurgent
groups have developed in that area, and replace it forces an interim basis to ensure the necessary
services in the area, and thus add up support within the local population.
The Global Jihad was materialized as the 21st century phenomenon, and its understanding by
academics has been controversial. Two main features can be identified, the insurgent character of its
strategy, and the transnational element of the organization. An insurgent movement is understood as

Two Theory Of Wellbeing
The first theory of well being is the mental state theory. This theory argues that one s mental state is
the sole source of their wellbeing, regardless of the actual content of their life. A subtype of the mental
state theory is welfare hedonism. This view posits that wellbeing comes from the amount of pleasure
one experiences in their life. By adding up the amount of pleasure one experiences and subtracting the
pain they experience, one is able to calculate their total wellbeing . There are different subtypes of
hedonism, from psychological to ethical hedonism. Additionally, quantitative hedonists argue that all
pleasures are equally valuable, where qualitative hedonists argue that some things create a state of
higher or better pleasure than others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory argues that wellbeing comes from the actualization of one s preferences in their life. These
theorists argue that it does not matter what one prefers or desires out of their life or the universe. All
that matters is that these preferences or desires are satisfied. For example, if someone desires to live in
a certain country, then moving there will satisfy their preference and therefore lead to individual well
being. Preference theorists are categorized into ideal preference theorists and actual preference
theorists. Ideal theorists differentiate one s current desires with their ideal ones, or the desires they
would have in a perfect universe Actual preference theorists believe that whether or not one s desires
are irrational, misinformed, or harmful is irrelevant. These theorists argue that no matter what,
actualization leads to

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Communication
Did you know that Canadians between 18 and 34 years old are spending on average 34 hours per week
on the Internet? This number is only increasing as the years go by. Around 74% of individuals 65 and
up are using the Internet regularly. This is a drastic change from 10 years ago, as it has increased by
54% (Thomson, 2017). How have we come so far, but to feel like we aren t going anywhere? Things
need to be done if we want to see any change for the future. There is a significant correlation between
technology and communication. By addressing the negative effects that technology has on face to face
communication, how technology has changed the way we communicate with others, and why we
expect more from technology rather than with another human being, we can better understand the
many factors that we must acknowledge in order for us to move forward.
Technology is a great distraction everywhere; whether it is at home, in the office, or when travelling.
Hundreds of thousands of people suffer injuries from accidents caused by distracted driving involving
technology. People become so distracted at work that they forget about more pressing matters
(Kazmeyer, n.d.). Technology has become an important part of the way we communicate. It has gone
so far as to take the place of face to face communication (Drago, 2015). By addressing the negative
effects that technology has on face to face communication, it is the first step in admitting that there is
something wrong with the world that

Second- Wave Feminism Essay
History 2112 Second Wave Feminism Towards the end of the twentieth century, feminist women in
America faced an underlying conflict to find their purpose and true meaning in life. Is this all? was
often a question whose answer was sought after by numerous women reaching deeper into their minds
and souls to find what was missing from their life. The ideal second wave feminist was defined as a
women who puts all of her time into cleaning her home, loving her husband, and caring for her
children, but such a belief caused these women to not only lose their identity within her family but
society as well. The emotions that feminist women were feeling at this time was the internal conflict
that caused for social steps to be taken in hopes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Magazine became a great relief to all feminists by giving them a sense of self determination and hope
for the women s movement. Feminist women rarely spoke to each other about their feelings of
subjection and loneliness. These emotions led them to feeling ashamed of themselves due to the
idealistic image of feminists that society felt was so appropriate. She was so ashamed to admit her
dissatisfaction that she never knew how many other women shared it. A huge social advancement and
rather large step towards understanding feminist women at this time was the formation of rap groups.
They are the heart and soul of the Women s Movement. Rap groups were organized and structured
meetings that allowed women to openly engage in one another s thoughts, feelings, and concerns
without the input of men or the rest of society. The rap groups have become mechanisms for social
change in and of themselves. These social groups let women know they were not alone and gave them
hope to believe in women s liberation. Rap groups helped to unify feminist women all over America
and brought them together in a structured interaction. Talking to other women, we came to realize our
oppression by understanding the nature of our upbringing and of our lives as, women. Discussion of
past feelings and experiences led to plans of new reforms and steps to achieving full social equality.

The Day I Left My Home Essay
Rain fell from the sky humidifying the soil. The day did not seem like ones lived before, days that
belong now to my past. People ran swiftly across the sidewalks trying to get to their offices, homes, or
just a place to stand for a few minutes and not be drenched by the falling downpour. Hailstones hit the
ground with severity; water flowed along the street, coming down the steep mountain, where a
sequence of modern and recently constructed ten story buildings stood silently. From my apartment
the splendid and astonishing view of a city with more than one million people dominated the front
section; at the back, the relaxing sight of nature and old trees created a welcoming and loosening up
sensation. All these were located in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lobby always looked elegant with decoration that gave a feeling of sobriety, precision, and a
classic touch of mat bone white walls, black and shinny marble, and colossal French windows,
windows that gleamed every single day, windows that sparkled with great luster.
On our way to the airport I carefully observed every building, every individual, every component of
the boulevards, those memories that belonged to me as a part of my everyday life, items that would
not be observed by my eyes in a long time, sights and sounds that I would take with me on this
journey. The environment inside the automobile was characterized by its quietness since everyone had
their minds engulfed by their own thoughts. The aroma of my mother s perfume and the unmistaken
sound of an AM news broadcast dominated the inside of the vehicle. Ten minutes later we stood in
front of the counters that clearly read, Los Angeles, Non Stop. Some minutes passed and more people
arrived to the terminal where a large mob tried to catch flights for different domestic and international
destinations for the holidays. Flights that departed at the same time as mine went to Paris, Frankfurt,
and Buenos Aires. I wondered if perhaps many of those people felt the same way I did. The terminal
sparkled with Christmas ornamentation and was embellished with lights of diverse colors such as
yellow, green, blue, and especially red. Along the corridors,

Essay On Wan Technologies
As the world progresses technology everyday, the reliance on the Internet and its uses become more
and more necessary. Many people connect to hundreds of applications and devices they use every
single day. Behind these applications are extremely complex networks that allow users to connect in
ways that expand every single day. To achieve this, companies must design their networks for secure
access and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end these companies must also
have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and any other remote resource to
access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This can be accomplished through a variety of
WAN technologies that are used in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted bandwidth they purchased.
Since these loops are shared between many users the cost is reduced. Frame Relay provides a better
alternative because it only requires a single point of access. From that point of access the Frame Relay
allows the sites to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also much simpler to configure
which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were simpler to establish because Customer
Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and linked to the ISPs Frame relay switch. This
allowed end user configuration management to be simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings,
Frame relay is also more reliable and provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay
provides greater flexibility versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As communication is
desired between locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is formed. In this process each end point
connection uses a Data Link Connection Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point.
Data sent through the relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated
through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is then sent to the
physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address field that includes the DLCI and
checksum to show where the packet needs to go. Another alternative to a

Comparing The Novel, Cain By Jose Saramago And Gilead By...
The novels, Cain by José Saramago and Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, both present different
perspectives of God and truth. Through Cain, a reader can gain a skeptical perception of God and
ultimately, question the importance of religion. On an alternative side, while Gilead does not directly
offer commentary to God and religion, it is the source of its characters strength, especially with
Robinson s character Ames. Either way, God and religion has a profound impact on Cain and Ames
lives that not only expresses their relationship with religion but how God as an entity influences their
life path. Saramago s Cain spends most of the novel bitter towards God for cursing him. From Cain
and the Narrator s point of view, one can conclude that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that Cain s initial interaction with God was indeed a negative one but it created an outlet for
Cain to question truth and to prove why religion s truth is incorrect.
With the story of Job, That doesn t seem very fair of the lord...a good and upright man, and very
religious too, he has committed no crime, and yet, for no reason, he is about to be punished with the
loss of all his money and possessions, Cain questions why Job will be punished as severely as he was
when Job followed the ideal pious path (Saramago, 122 123). In this instance, Cain is taking a
protective role as well as a critical one when it comes to God s convoluted motivations, The lord and
satan made a wager, but this man job isn t to know he is the object of that gambler s agreement
(Saramago, 122). Possibly, Cain is able to relate to the citizens God tampered with since Cain felt he
was not at fault for killing Abel, but rather, God was for not stopping him or giving him such a
miserable life that led him to kill his younger brother. This idea that a misfortune, Job losing
everything he worked for, is contradicted in Robinson s novel, Gilead since Ames mother saw bad
luck as a blessing, That was a day s work lost for her, not to mention the setting hens and the fryers.

The solids of revolution for this cone will look like the following images.
Thus, we return to the solid of revolutions formula
Volume = ∫_a^b▒〖π (radius)^2 dx 〗 a will equal 0 and b will equal 2.9.
The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly matches the predicted
volume that was calculated for the conical section of the External Tank.
Thus, the total volume of the solids of revolution will match as well.
776.16π+17.052π=793.212π
Since it matches, this further proves that the math is correct and effective.
Solids of Revolution for Orbiter
Sadly, similar to the others, I could not find sufficient data to create a detailed model of the Orbiter, so
all I can attempt is model another cylinder that has equal dimensions.
So, using the formula again:
Volume = ∫_a^b▒〖π (radius)^2 dx 〗 a will equal 0 and b will equal 32.85, since that is the length of
the space shuttle.
The radius will be 3.455 since the diameter is 6.91.
This forms the function y=3.455. The solids of revolutions would look like the following images.
This final value matches the predicted volume for the

Myth Of The Aztecs
A diminutive tribe called the Aztecs strolled around northwestern Mexico up until AD 1116. As
claimed by one legend, the Aztec god of the sun and war, Huitzilopochtli, ordered their people to
advance south until they found a new everlasting home. He said that their new home would be marked
with a discernible indication. The sign was an eagle on a cactus with a snake in his mouth. It took the
tribe more than a hundred years of searching. Finally, a priest found the sign in the Valley of Mexico.
However, other people already lived there. They didn t want to allocate their domain with the Aztecs.

Common people lived in simple houses, which were made from adobe, clay, and water. Adobe are

Aztec people thought that this heat was good for the family s health.
The Aztec people also made two different types of calendars. One was the agricultural calendar, and
the other was the calendar of the gods. The agricultural calendar was a lot like the calendar we use

Job Plan For A Career Plan
A career is defined by a sequence of positions, opportunities and windows that open and close says
Alain Gosselin, Professor and Associate Director of Executive Education and leaders at HEC
Montreal. This is why it may be useful to have a plan and update it if necessary. Often absorbed in
their everyday life, students have trouble taking time to breathe and plan their week, not to talk about
building a career plan. However, it is necessary to not wait until you are limited to think about it. Even
though it was not appreciated in the past, the issue of labor mobility has now become an asset for
executives. Today, someone who has acquired multiple experiences in several industries will be
valued for his skills. Similarly, someone who has lived in many countries will be the resource person
to support the implementation of a local agency. Contrary to what some may think, having a career
plan does not betray an inordinate ambition. In some cases, it is even the trigger to find a better
balance between family life and professional life. In this sense, a career plan has become necessary

Analysis Of George Elliot s Middlemarch
Middlemarch Essay
Sarah Gorda
Olympic College
ENGL328 British Literature July 24, 2015 Middlemarch Essay Middlemarch, a Victorian novel
written by George Elliot, is a story of a conventional society in the eighteenth century. Named
Middlemarch, the town in England where the setting of the novel takes place, the novel embodies
many characters affected by the social world where they live. The novel focuses on many of the
characters and their relationships as part of a whole in a human social web. The concept of
relationships and marriage in Middlemarch is displayed through many couples. For the purposes of
this essay the focus will be on a few main characters, as their relationships are intertwined. This essay
will share these relationships and the theme of love, relationship, and social status as a summary of the
novel. One theme that is apparent is everyone seems to be marrying the wrong partner. They are
unaware of the mate that would be a perfect match for them and chose a person based on unrealistic
ideals. In a time that people commonly married for obligation rather than love, everyone is marry for
love and yet end up lacking love in marriage. If trust is a foundation for marriage than it can certainly
destroy it as we can see in Middlemarch. Casaubon believes that Dorothea will make a good wife

Systems Theory Approach To Quality Care
Systems Theory Approach to Quality Care and Improved Patient Outcomes
Systems are developed in organizations to create linear direction for staff and leadership to follow.
Without policies and procedures, the result would be chaos. In respect to health care institutions,
systems provide a safety net for nurses and patients. The purpose of this paper is to review systems
theory and how open systems can help organizations reach goals, meet standards of care and improve
patient outcomes.

(Seale et al., 2015). A patient may be reluctant to ask a physician to wash their hands due to fear of

and patients should be collaborators with physicians and their healthcare worker (Seale et al., 2015).
Alignment with Mission, Vision, and Values
Ohio State University s mission statement states they are driven to improve lives with innovation in
education, patient care and research (www.osumc.edu). Being innovators consists of education of staff

1. What are 1 2 issues/items that you agree with that he discusses in the video?
Of the issues, Dr. Hart discussed I agreed with the idea that crimes and poverty still exist outside of
addiction and the attractive alternatives to drugs can help deter the selection of that pathway.
Personally, I agree that crime and poverty aren t a consequence of drug use rather a precursor to the
act of. In some circumstances, the only way to get by in the eyes of an individual is to sell drugs and
in the process a habit is picked up. In other situations, crimes occur and throughout the process drugs

Hart about was decriminalizing all drugs. I think that by doing this we would have a bigger issue on
our hands than we do now. I fully understand where his thought process is but I feel a better way to
handle it would be to re evaluate our current laws. I don t think it would be helpful to say meth, crack,
heroin, and all that fall under that umbrella are free for use. The way I see it, people will start to take
advantage. There would be no regulations, no guidelines to follow. The way Dr. Hart is proposing, I
feel would backfire. What I would suggest is to start looking at laws and seeing where adjustments are
needed. A great example would be our transitioning marijuana use to recreational.

Before watching this TED talk, I had no clue that the one hit and you re hooked phrase came from
experiments conducted in the 1960 s. During these experiments, researchers had animals in cages with
only a lever which could be pulled to supply a dosage of a certain drug. The idea that only only one hit
can produce an addiction now is proven very biased. Like Dr. Hart says, these animals only had the
lever to pull and nothing else to occupy their time. With new research, it was shown that one hit does

Privacy In Law Enforcement Essay
In law enforcement, protecting lives, safeguarding property, and reducing crime is constantly
challenged by increasingly sophisticated criminal activities. Governments and law enforcement
agencies strive to stay ahead of offenders and ensure the safety of law enforcement professionals
relying more and more on rapidly changing technology. In car camera systems, for example, are now
valuable tools used to ensure and validate a high degree of officer professionalism (Schultz, 2016).
But as criminal activities and technology changes, so does society s views on justice. Issues related to
Constitutional protections and citizens privacy as well as how defendants and victims are treated have
been debated for a long time in the U.S. ( 21st Century , n.d.). Privacy, especially, is a sensitive but

supersizing of menu items of fast food restaurants, the larger soft drink sizes and the bigger portion

need to be involved in after school activities which keep them active. Physical education is a must

The Brain Sensory Input Of Different Modalities Essay
The brain processes sensory input of different modalities simultaneously in cortical areas. Sensory
information of different modalities is either processed independently before being integrated to
provide an overall picture of our surroundings, or cross modal interaction occurs before integration.
We compared visual evoked potentials (VEPs) evoked when attention is directed toward either visual
or auditory stimuli and found no difference in mean P100 when attention was directed toward visual
stimuli (2.41x10 5 ± 6.43x10 5 V, n=10) or auditory stimuli (1.68x10 5 ± 1.93x10 5 V, n=10). This
evidence suggests that processing of visual information is unaffected by the concurrent processing of
auditory information.
Introduction
The human brain receives input containing sensory information of different modalities from the
surrounding environment. This information is processed in different areas of the brain that do not
function in isolation and exhibit interactive plasticity (Roe et al., 1990). The processed information
evokes activity in different cortical areas responsible for processing senses and is integrated to give
coherent, detailed information (Molholm et al., 2002).
Increasing attention to visual stimuli results in a stronger response at the neuronal level (Reynolds
Chelazzi, 2004). The capability to retain working memory of a visual stimulus is enhanced when
attention is fully focused on the stimulus compared to when objects in the periphery of focus act as

The Issues of Cyber bullying
Alyssa Staub

Professor Matthews
October 23, 2017 Cyber bullying has been a topic for scholarly inquiry, political debate, and policy
reform since the commercialization of the Internet. Pre internet bullying involved socially
marginalized children and teenagers picking on their friends and other marginalized children at school.
Traditional discipline included detentions, phone calls to their parents, and some type of discipline
between the children involved. Today however, for bullies has dramatically changed and the risk
reward balance has been significantly tilted in favor of the bullies.

Cyber Bullying as a Criminological Issue
The world has adopted the Internet as one of the most popular mediums for exchanging information,

in principle, but provides instigators with a presumed veil of anonymity which modernizes the bullies

can be safe at home without fear of repercussion. This is extremely troubling considering there is very
little fear of reprisal in an online environment. There are no internet police actively monitoring

the victim(s) report it and pursue it legally. The situation

weaknesses of each of the theories used for these themes.
The first theme is labelling and deviant identity theory of criminalisation, one of the main contributors

Sykes and Matza state that there is five contributory factors to the rationalisation process these are
denial of responsibility, denial of injury, denial of the victim, condemnation of the condemners, and
appeal to the higher loyalties. Denial of responsibility is when a delinquent will blame another group
for his criminal act such as his parents did not give them a good upbringing or his school let him
down, they look at themselves as the victim. Denial of injury is when they rationalise there action
because nobody was hurt, for example vandalism or shoplifting from a large store chain who they
believe can afford the lose. Denial of the victim is when they state that the victim deserved it.
Condemnation of the condemners they blame the other group for there actions and try to deflect
responsibility and appeal to higher loyalties they are fighting for the ethical good. Chambliss and
Snider state that capitalism is the main contributor to delinquency as we strive to achieve personal
wealth and gain an individual who does not achieve this feel justified in delinquent behaviour.
Theory of political economy and criminalisation this looks at how capitalism can shape delinquent and
deviant behaviour. Chambliss argues :
The heart of the capitalist economic system is the protection of private property, which is, by
definition, the cornerstone upon which capitalist economies function. It is not surprising, then to find

Selflessness And Selflessness In The Movie The Impossible
In the movie, The Impossible, Lucas Bennett shows selflessness and bravery as he does everything to
keep his mother, Maria, alive. While Lucas and Maria walk through the debris they hear a child
crying. Maria insists on helping anyone they can so she urges Lucas to help the child. Lucas reflects
that he is brave and selfless as he rescues the helpless child. He put his life in danger to find a
complete stranger. Lucas then faces another challenge as he pushes his mother up into the tree, before
pulling himself up. He puts his life in danger in order to insure his mother s safety. Another example
of Lucas s strong personalities is shown when Lucas makes it his priority to reunite families in the
hospital. Despite knowing the chances of reuniting a family, in such a large hospital, were slim, he
showed selflessness by trying anyway and putting other s needs in front of his own. This displayed his
selfless and brave qualities.
The film is based off of a tsunami that occurred in Thailand on the 26th of December. The Bennett
family ,of five, went to Thailand for a vacation, but were welcomed with an unexpected event that
changed their lives in an instant. A tsunami occurs at Khao Lak as the family is swimming in the hotel
pool. Each member is swept away in different directions. It shows the family trying to survive and
find each other. Maria and Lucas were separated from Henry (father), Thomas and Simon. Maria is
severely injured and Lucas is desperately trying to get help.

Superior Manufactoring
Superior Anufacturing
Question 1 Answer
Based off of the 2004 statement of profit and loss data, I do agree with Water s decision in keeping
product 103. The total sunk costs for the company could be more substantial in a shorter time than
having years of low profits from the sales of product 103. Overall the company would lose $4,933,000
by eliminating product 103. Recovering the indirect costs of dropping the product line would also be
unclear as well. An incremental analysis would be the best approach in determining whether keeping
product 103 is beneficial or not.

The cost system in place at Superior Manufacturing did not allow them to see enough of the indirect
costs associated with each product. The inability to determine actual costs incurred by each product
line inhibits Superior Manufacturing from reporting accurate information. A main example of this is
displayed with the indirect expenses associated with each product building. The reports that the
management used in the cost system referenced their standard costs, which were based on the previous
year prices. If any of the direct costs were actually lower than the standards listed it resulted in higher
revenues. A few suggestions that I would recommend to Waters regarding the cost accounting system
and reports would to also look at more of the actual sales and expenses in reports. The cost system that
is being utilized focuses mainly on past results.
In addition to the reporting suggestions, I would also suggest to Superior Manufacturing to look at the
amount of resources used indirectly. If the company can reduce the amount of wasted warehouse
space and continue to produce all three products, then they would be able to reduce more indirect
expenses and increase their profitability. Another area of concern would be that they are basing their
prices to coincide with Samra. There are also many other competitors making similar products as
Superior Manufacturing. The

Michelle Obama. Art education is important for future students. Art allows students to learn about
themselves, their culture, their community and the world around them. The creativity and imagination
of students will be pushed through the development of art. Art uses science, math, creativity, and
ideas. Art uses math because math involves shapes and angles and etc. and when people make an art
project with geometric shapes they use math to find what is this angle worth? Science needs art
because art helps people to understand what they are learning in science classes. Scientists always use

Essay on Discuss Some Of The Main Ideas
Sigmund Freud considered himself a scientist whose intention was to find a physiological and
materialist basis for his theories of the psyche. Freud revolutionised the way in which we think about
ourselves. From its beginnings as a theory of neurosis, Freud founded and developed psychoanalysis
into a general psychology, which became widely accepted as the predominant mode of discussing
personality, behaviour and interpersonal relationships.
Freud, who had been studying neuropathology, left Vienna in 1885 to continue his studies in Paris
under the guidance of Jean Martin Charcot. This proved to be the turning point in his career, for
Charcot s work with patients classified as hysterics introduced Freud to the possibility that ... Show

By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to
return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour
such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct
might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others.
Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment
or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop.
Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour.
These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud
the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them.
Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most
instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual
experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these
as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these
recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was
this that was at the root of later conflict.

Pawnee National Grassland Research Paper
Importance of preserving Pawnee National Grassland
WWF Panel
Good morning/afternoon WWF panel members,
The importance of preserving Pawnee National Grassland is essential, to not only us, but also for the
environment. Pawnee National Grasslands is one of the largest grasslands in the world, situated in
Colorado, USA. It covers over 700 km2 of area, which means that it has one of the largest roles in
shaping the environment in the surrounding area. Destroying Pawnee National Grasslands will have
dire consequences on the ecosystem, including causing a trophic cascade devastating the food chain,
increase the intensity and damage caused by flooding, and increase the amount of carbon dioxide in
the air which will cause global warming/climate change, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These pollutants can involve anything from pesticides to fine sediments to poisons. However,
Grasslands act as natural water filters, helping prevent these pollutants from flowing down into
waterways. How does this work? Purification is carried out by microbes such as bacteria or fungi in a
biological process. However, this process only works well over time. Grasslands increase the time
required for precipitation to reach rivers hence increasing the purity of the resulting water. However, if
Pawnee National Grassland is replaced with roads and cities, the new impervious surfaces will cause
the water to flow faster and are a source of even more pollutants. The cost of building a water
filtration plant is around $6 8 billion, and it takes more than $300 million each year to operate it. So
the choice is obvious to keep the free natural water filter rather than to build a costly unnecessary
replacement.
On the same note, not only will Pawnee National Grassland slow down the flow of water hence
increase the purity of the water, but the slower run off also allows the grassland to act as a flood stop
limiting the amount of water which can reach rivers like a sponge. If grasslands and native vegetation
are kept and allowed to regenerate there will also be no need for expensive solutions for

Comparison Of Edward Abbey And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Since the beginning of time, man and nature have coexisted with one another. Before civilizations
began and industrialization spread, all that was in the world was nature and man. Both Edward Abbey
and Ralph Waldo Emerson, viewed nature as something which made us complete as a person. Abbey
claims nature both bore us and sustains us . They believe we owe everything to nature. Nature has
provided us opportunities to grow and prosper as an individual, yet what Abbey and Emerson failed to

Quarter View
View of the Quarter Over the Christmas holidays I visited one of my favorite childhood restaurants in
the Metairie area. Quarter View, located on Clearview Parkway, has been one of my favorite places to
eat rich, New Orleans style cuisine ever since I was a young child. Friday night of every week my
family and I would enjoy dinner after a week of school and work. The consistently delicious food
makes it difficult to choose to eat out anywhere else. Over the Christmas holiday was the first time I
returned to eat here in numerous years; and it was a pleasant surprise with the warm atmosphere,
helpful staff, and delectable New Orleans cuisine. The atmosphere of the entire restaurant popped the
second I walked into the building with a warm welcome by a beautiful young hostess, and the classic
blues and jazz sounds of the French Quarter fill the building with the rhythmic quality of Jackson
Square. When I was escorted to the table, it was impossible to avoid noticing the glamorous mural of
the streets throughout the French Quarter with wrought iron fences, balconies, and buggies pulled by
graceful horses with flowing manes. Once seated inside the bustling restaurant everything seemed to
become calm because the tables had adequate space between them to enjoy a meal ... Show more

It is a classic New Orleans cuisine with a focus on fresh gulf seafood and also serves a variety of
steaks and other barbecue dishes. I ordered the Cajun Crawfish Pasta, which is a rich seafood pasta
with a signature Cajun cream sauce and topped with freshly boiled crawfish tails served in a portion
large enough to serve three people. The dish is my favorite item on the menu to order at the restaurant
because their superb Cajun cream sauce with an Italian base but a tangy Cajun kick. Thankfully, the
dish was served at an ideal temperature so I could devour it the second the waiter placed it on the

Culture
Any consideration of Spanish culture must stress the tremendous importance of religion in the history
of the country and in the life of the individual. An index of the influence of Roman Catholicism is
provided by the fervent mystical element in the art and literature of Spain, the impressive list of its
saints, and the large number of religious congregations and orders. The Catholic marriage is the basis
of the family, which in turn is the foundation of Spanish society. Economy
Spain has traditionally been an agricultural country and is still one of the largest producers of farm
commodities in Western Europe, but since the mid 1950s industrial growth has been rapid. A series of
development plans, initiated in
1964, helped the economy to expand, but in the later 1970s an economic slowdown was brought on by
rising oil costs and increased imports. Subsequently, the government emphasized the development of
the steel, shipbuilding, textile, and mining industries. Spain derives much income from tourism. The
annual budget in the early 1990s included revenues of about $97.7 billion and expenditures of about
$128 billion. On January 1, 1986, Spain became a full member of the
European Community (now the European Union, or EU).
Agriculture
Agriculture is a mainstay of the Spanish economy, employing, with forestry and fishing, about 10
percent of the labor force.

The Influences for Langston Hughes Successful Writing Career
American literature and American culture have always been connected throughout our history.
Langston Hughes was able to recognize that, Man had the inability to bridge cultures (Bloom 16). In
one of his writings, Luani of the Jungles, Langston writes about the interactions in a relationship
between a white man and a black woman, that is not ruined by outside disapproval, but the man s own
obsession and oversimplification of their racial differences (16). Hughes s ability to speak openly
about his ideas earned him the title of the Poet of Laureate of Harlem (Bailey 748). Langston Hughes
was able to communicate through his works by trying to create bridges between cultures, which he
knew was very possible. The works of Langston Hughes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also While working as a busboy at the Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., he gave three of his
poems to Vachel Lindsay, a famous critic, and through his praise of his works was able to get Hughes
an even larger audience (Hill 26). Vachel publicized that he had discovered a new black poet, and
Hughes earlier work began to be published in magazines and organized into his first book of poetry
(Biography). In Hughes earl years as a writer, the fact that he could not make enough money to
support himself created a feeling of depression deep inside of him. This depression and all the
criticism that he faced, because of his race, gave him the inspiration and motivation to continue to
write and become successful.
Langston Hughes did not become the successful writer and poet he is by himself, he had many
inspirations that kept him motivated and gave him ideas for his writing. The first of his inspirations
was Carl Sandburg who wrote poetry, biographies, fiction, and newspaper articles (Biography).
Though Sandburg was not African American his success was still inspirational to Hughes. Sandburg
wrote about the struggles of real people, like Hughes writing about the struggles of African Americans
(Biography). Sandburg was also faced with many critics who criticized the way he wrote, yet
Sandburg did not change his style of writing because of these critics he just ignored them, and

The God s Script Short Story
The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream of
Tzinacán, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short story
to describe Tzinacán s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his destiny
while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. Tzinacán is a magician of the pyramid
of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. In this short story, Borges is
trying to say the dreams reveal knowledge of things that can come to reality. Tzinacán, the central
character, is a magician. A magician has powers and can do many tricks with those powers. The
magician of Qaholom goes through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings.
However, Tzinacán s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is represented
as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck down the idol of
the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the torments in silence (169).
When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that his gods are here with him
instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not abandoning him; even though
he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of the things that are happening to
him are like the things that happen to his gods. Tzinacán senses that the things he thinks about
represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing his god s script. He knows of the
script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The
fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a
thousand times and needed only to fathom it (170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are
leaving access to the script to him to have as part his destiny. From the tone of the story, the
knowledge he has of his gods

The Debt Ratio, Projects The Relationship Between The...
The Debt Ratio, projects the relationship between the total assets and total debts of the company. This
ratio is used to measure the financial risk of the company. In order to measure the financial risk, we
need to look at the amount of debt that the company has incurred due to the financing of operations.
This is done by comparing the total debt to the total assets of the company, from there we derive a
debt percentage. The total debt amount includes, current and non current liabilities. Whilst, the total
assets amount includes, current and non current assets. The overall ratio is expressed as a percentage.
This percentage indicates how much of debt is incurred by the company, when financing its
operations. If the overall percentage is high, it implies that the company is at a financial risk as there is
a relatively high proportion of debt.As potential investors would not want to in a company which has a
high percentage of debts.Whilst a low overall percentage, the company is at a low financial risk and
are handling their debts well. The
The Debt Ratio has increased from 49.81% in 2013 to 65.02% in 2014, with and overall increase of
15.21%. This percentage [ 49.81% ], is an indication of the amount of debt that Aspen Pharmacare has
incurred in order to purchase or finance its operations according to the equity it has accumulated. The
increase in debt, means that the liabilities of Aspen Pharmacare have increased since the past year.

Plagiarism Essay Examples
Taking someone s words and using them without a proper citation is a problem. Without being taught
the correct way, this problem is not going to correct itself and will continue to become a bigger
problem. There are major consequences for plagiarising, but these can be avoided with a simple
citation. Tying together the definition of plagiarism, reasons for using documentation, and an
explanation of MLA 8 and APA citations will all be brought together. Learning what kind of citation,
and what needs a citation is a very important concept in becoming a successful writer. Citing a source
correctly will save you time and problems.

These students were taught a life lesson, something that they will never do again. Being taught, the
correct way, at a young age will solve many of the problems that we have today. Becoming aware of
the consequences that this could lead to would be worth the extra time citing a document, or writing
your own paper. Taking someone s words or writing could lead to loss of job/school, fines, and so
much more. To avoid these problems, a simple citation will help anyone become aware that you did
give credit to the author. Jim Carnett published an article in the Los Angeles Times stating that he had
tried to submit a column to an editor but they sent it back because it contained plagiarised material.
Carnett said, I lifted a portion of one of my columns and inserted it in the Daily Pilot piece without
attribution. He hadn t cited his own work and now what he did was plagiarism. To Carnett, this was a
total accident, but this shows that you should cite any information that you use. Although there are
arguments that there is no such thing as plagiarism, If a novelist uses a non fiction book for research,
how is that stealing? Non fiction promises facts, there is no copyright in facts, ergo no stealing...
(Independent.co.uk) it is always best to give credit to the source that you received the information
from; thus not having a chance of plagiarism.

The Scarlet Letter By Roger Chillingworth
Roger Chillingworth: Retribution to Death
According to an old Klingon proverb, Revenge is a dish best served cold, which Roger Chillingworth,
the evil antagonist in The Scarlet Letter knows how to serve well. As readers, we rarely slow down
and really scrutinize the works of novels. Consequently, we do not truly realize and acknowledge the
development and transition of the characters feelings, thoughts, and states of mind. Through Roger
Chillingworth, Nathaniel Hawthorne demonstrates that trying to enact retribution on another will
typically end in one s own demise.
The one definite reason for Roger Chillingworth s desire for retribution on his perceived enemy results
from Dimmesdale s act of adultery with his wife while he had not been present. Chillingworth sends
Hester Prynne, his wife, to the New World two years before while he had been busy in England.
Hester becomes impregnated by the town s minister, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. Chillingworth
becomes infuriated; he alters his identity, giving himself a new name and profession. Chillingworth
still has to determine who has committed the act with his wife. He acts stern with anyone that speaks
with him and expresses rage at everyone for letting the act happen. Chillingworth suspects something
about the minister at first glance but has no proof if Dimmesdale is actually the one who enacts the
crime with his wife. Chillingworth asks to stay with Dimmesdale for medical reasons, utilizing his
fake profession as a

Isabel Briggs Myers s Typology Personality Test
After finishing Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers typology personality test, I found out that my
personality type is Introverted Intuition with Extraverted Feeling (INFJ). INFJ, also known as the
Protector, are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. After reading about my
personality type, I found that I agree with most of the following results. I have taken a few personality
tests in the past and all of them have resulted in similar answers. Thus, when I read through my results
I was not surprised by most of the answers. On the other hand, while I was reading through the results,
I was surprised by INFJ being a rare personality type and only one percent of the population have it.

results are useful to me because the personality test gives me options on a certain career fields I could
potentially consider for my personality type. The information will help me in figuring out my future
career because I am one of those people who has not figured out what I want to do for the rest of my
life. I think the results will help guide me into the right direction for a career. Finally, after exploring
the personality page links, I learned that I appear to seem like an extrovert but I am an introvert. The
following means that I am so well at connecting with people that it seems like I am an extrovert. Also,
I learned that I am strongly humanitarian in outlook. I am not surprised by this because I have been
told by others that I am an individual who always tries to help make things better for not just a
community but for others. Overall, I found the personality test to be very informative and I am
definitely going to pay close attention to certain areas about my personality type to see if my

The Effects Of Soil Ph Soil Moisture, Organic Horizon...
In this experiment we tested the effects of soil pH, soil moisture, organic horizon thickness, and slope
of the hill, on the species dominance of specific trees along a hill in Charlottesville, Virginia, a city
within the Appalachian mountain range. There were 5 transects, distinguished by pink tape, that
started at the North end of the Hill and progressed down, then up the south side of the hill. Our data
was then reflected upon F.E. Clements organismic approach, And Ramensky and Gleason s
individualistic approach. The patterns between each variable and the survivability of the trees there,
allow us to understand the species variation and each species dominance at the site. We hypothesized
that the variations in community ecology would influence other variables, and the tree species
surviving in that space. However, we found that the p values for each variable we tested against each
other, moisture vs. pH, moisture vs. organic horizon, and pH vs. organic horizon, were not significant
values, rejecting our null hypothesis. These findings at Ohill show the influence each variable has on
the tree relative frequency and basal area. Understanding the various environmental conditions that
affect our forests is doubtfully one of the most important factors in the survivorship of our forests
ecosystems as they cover 30% of the land area on earth (Sandrine et al. 2006). The variables tested,
although only sampled in a small sample size, reflect key issues in forests around the

  • 2. Liberia Civil War Research Paper Causes of Liberian Civil War Have you ever been asked if you want long sleeves or short sleeves? If you were asked this, you thought about shirts. In Liberia during the civil war, if the rebels caught you and asked this question, they meant do you want your arms cut off at the shoulder or wrist. Liberia is located along the Atlantic Coast of West Africa and its capital is Monrovia (Vinck, Pham, Kreutzer, 8). There are about 4 million people and 17 major ethnic groups (9). Liberia s civil war between 1989 and 2003 left hundreds of thousands dead and many more affected by the extreme violence that ravaged the country (3). There are several fundamental causes for this devastating civil war and three of them are: the socio economic policies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1970 s when educated indigenous Liberians protested the raise in rice prices, the Tolbert government violently put down the protest by killing 40 students and wounding 400 (59). This set the stage for a group called The People s Revolutionary Council led by Samuel Doe to lead a coup on April 12, 1980 that took over the government killing President Tolbert and many others (61). Doe became a dictator who put his ethnic Krahn tribe in charge of everything and took all the natural resources for his own profit (62). Any ethnic groups not of the Krahn tribe were persecuted and many were killed (63). Due to the atrocities suffered under Doe s dictatorship, different ethnic groups formed rebel organizations to try to defeat Doe. Charles Taylor led an invasion into Liberia with the backing of the Gola and Mano tribes (Global Security, 2). The Gio tribe under Prince Johnson formed its own rebel force (2). This began a bloody three way war. Although the reason given for the civil war was to provide different ethnic groups with the right to participate in the government, one of the factors that drove the warlords was the desire to exploit Liberia s natural ... The United States War On Terror After the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the War on Terror was the strategy that the Bush government developed with the aim to defeat the organization that had accomplished this, Al Qaeda. The immediate response of the Bush Administration after the attack was the invasion of Afghanistan, with the goal of eliminating and expel the targets that had made the country their sanctuary. This group was presented as the main threat of the 21st century, and as the enemy at the global scale. However, the idea of the War on Terror did not employ only in the Afghan context, the Islamic terrorist threat was spread through nine principal theatres . It was here that Galula implemented for the first time their knowledge of COIN. Galula theory is based on the support of the population. This is divided between an active minority supporting the insurgency, an active minority who would be willing to support the force or forces that promote measures COIN, and finally, a large majority of the population passive . The aim of COIN operations would therefore gain the support of the active minority that is potentially in their favour, so that this in turn get mobilized the passive majority of the population against the insurgent group. Besides military measures to reduce and eliminate the insurgent forces, for the author it is essential to isolate the population of these groups, in order to avoid a possible mobilization of the same against the interests of the COIN. This will require removing the alleged political organization that insurgent groups have developed in that area, and replace it forces an interim basis to ensure the necessary services in the area, and thus add up support within the local population. The Global Jihad was materialized as the 21st century phenomenon, and its understanding by academics has been controversial. Two main features can be identified, the insurgent character of its strategy, and the transnational element of the organization. An insurgent movement is understood as ... This theory argues that one s mental state is the sole source of their wellbeing, regardless of the actual content of their life. A subtype of the mental state theory is welfare hedonism. This view posits that wellbeing comes from the amount of pleasure one experiences in their life. By adding up the amount of pleasure one experiences and subtracting the pain they experience, one is able to calculate their total wellbeing . There are different subtypes of hedonism, from psychological to ethical hedonism. Additionally, quantitative hedonists argue that all pleasures are equally valuable, where qualitative hedonists argue that some things create a state of higher or better pleasure than others. ... These theorists argue that it does not matter what one prefers or desires out of their life or the universe. All that matters is that these preferences or desires are satisfied. For example, if someone desires to live in a certain country, then moving there will satisfy their preference and therefore lead to individual well being. Preference theorists are categorized into ideal preference theorists and actual preference theorists. Ideal theorists differentiate one s current desires with their ideal ones, or the desires they would have in a perfect universe Actual preference theorists believe that whether or not one s desires are irrational, misinformed, or harmful is irrelevant. • 5. The Negative Effects Of Technology On Communication Did you know that Canadians between 18 and 34 years old are spending on average 34 hours per week on the Internet? This number is only increasing as the years go by. Around 74% of individuals 65 and up are using the Internet regularly. This is a drastic change from 10 years ago, as it has increased by 54% (Thomson, 2017). How have we come so far, but to feel like we aren t going anywhere? Things need to be done if we want to see any change for the future. There is a significant correlation between technology and communication. By addressing the negative effects that technology has on face to face communication, how technology has changed the way we communicate with others, and why we expect more from technology rather than with another human being, we can better understand the many factors that we must acknowledge in order for us to move forward. Technology is a great distraction everywhere; whether it is at home, in the office, or when travelling. Hundreds of thousands of people suffer injuries from accidents caused by distracted driving involving technology. People become so distracted at work that they forget about more pressing matters (Kazmeyer, n.d.). Technology has become an important part of the way we communicate. It has gone so far as to take the place of face to face communication (Drago, 2015). By addressing the negative effects that technology has on face to face communication, it is the first step in admitting that there is something wrong with the world that ... • 6. Second- Wave Feminism Essay History 2112 Second Wave Feminism Towards the end of the twentieth century, feminist women in America faced an underlying conflict to find their purpose and true meaning in life. Is this all? was often a question whose answer was sought after by numerous women reaching deeper into their minds and souls to find what was missing from their life. The ideal second wave feminist was defined as a women who puts all of her time into cleaning her home, loving her husband, and caring for her children, but such a belief caused these women to not only lose their identity within her family but society as well. Magazine became a great relief to all feminists by giving them a sense of self determination and hope for the women s movement. Feminist women rarely spoke to each other about their feelings of subjection and loneliness. These emotions led them to feeling ashamed of themselves due to the idealistic image of feminists that society felt was so appropriate. She was so ashamed to admit her dissatisfaction that she never knew how many other women shared it. A huge social advancement and rather large step towards understanding feminist women at this time was the formation of rap groups. They are the heart and soul of the Women s Movement. Rap groups were organized and structured meetings that allowed women to openly engage in one another s thoughts, feelings, and concerns without the input of men or the rest of society. The rap groups have become mechanisms for social change in and of themselves. These social groups let women know they were not alone and gave them hope to believe in women s liberation. Rap groups helped to unify feminist women all over America and brought them together in a structured interaction. Talking to other women, we came to realize our oppression by understanding the nature of our upbringing and of our lives as, women. Discussion of past feelings and experiences led to plans of new reforms and steps to achieving full social equality. The social advancements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People ran swiftly across the sidewalks trying to get to their offices, homes, or just a place to stand for a few minutes and not be drenched by the falling downpour. Hailstones hit the ground with severity; water flowed along the street, coming down the steep mountain, where a sequence of modern and recently constructed ten story buildings stood silently. The environment inside the automobile was characterized by its quietness since everyone had their minds engulfed by their own thoughts. The aroma of my mother s perfume and the unmistaken sound of an AM news broadcast dominated the inside of the vehicle. Ten minutes later we stood in front of the counters that clearly read, Los Angeles, Non Stop. Some minutes passed and more people arrived to the terminal where a large mob tried to catch flights for different domestic and international destinations for the holidays. Flights that departed at the same time as mine went to Paris, Frankfurt, and Buenos Aires. I wondered if perhaps many of those people felt the same way I did. • 8. Essay On Wan Technologies As the world progresses technology everyday, the reliance on the Internet and its uses become more and more necessary. Many people connect to hundreds of applications and devices they use every single day. Behind these applications are extremely complex networks that allow users to connect in ways that expand every single day. To achieve this, companies must design their networks for secure access and reliability to allow seamless access for users. On the back end these companies must also have a secure network in place for their offices, remote workers, and any other remote resource to access confidential materials and other sensitive matter. This can be accomplished through a variety of WAN technologies that are used in the world today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With frame relay the user only has to pay for the local loop and the allotted bandwidth they purchased. Since these loops are shared between many users the cost is reduced. Frame Relay provides a better alternative because it only requires a single point of access. From that point of access the Frame Relay allows the sites to connect together. On top of the overall cost, it is also much simpler to configure which results in less overhead yet again. The connections were simpler to establish because Customer Service Equipment or CPE would be configured and linked to the ISPs Frame relay switch. This allowed end user configuration management to be simple and straightforward. Besides cost savings, Frame relay is also more reliable and provides more bandwidth than private/leased lines. Frame relay provides greater flexibility versus leased lines by using Virtual Circuits or VCs. As communication is desired between locations, a connection to a Virtual Circuit is formed. In this process each end point connection uses a Data Link Connection Identifier or DLCI which acts as an address for the end point. Data sent through the relay is taken from the network layer of the OSI model and is then encapsulated through the data portion of the frame relay frame. Once this is done, the frame is then sent to the physical layer for delivery. Within the packet there will be an address field that includes the DLCI and checksum to show where the packet needs to go. Another alternative to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Comparing The Novel, Cain By Jose Saramago And Gilead By... The novels, Cain by José Saramago and Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, both present different perspectives of God and truth. Through Cain, a reader can gain a skeptical perception of God and ultimately, question the importance of religion. On an alternative side, while Gilead does not directly offer commentary to God and religion, it is the source of its characters strength, especially with Robinson s character Ames. Either way, God and religion has a profound impact on Cain and Ames lives that not only expresses their relationship with religion but how God as an entity influences their life path. Saramago s Cain spends most of the novel bitter towards God for cursing him. From Cain and the Narrator s point of view, one can conclude that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is clear that Cain s initial interaction with God was indeed a negative one but it created an outlet for Cain to question truth and to prove why religion s truth is incorrect. With the story of Job, That doesn t seem very fair of the lord...a good and upright man, and very religious too, he has committed no crime, and yet, for no reason, he is about to be punished with the loss of all his money and possessions, Cain questions why Job will be punished as severely as he was when Job followed the ideal pious path (Saramago, 122 123). In this instance, Cain is taking a protective role as well as a critical one when it comes to God s convoluted motivations, The lord and satan made a wager, but this man job isn t to know he is the object of that gambler s agreement (Saramago, 122). Possibly, Cain is able to relate to the citizens God tampered with since Cain felt he was not at fault for killing Abel, but rather, God was for not stopping him or giving him such a miserable life that led him to kill his younger brother. This idea that a misfortune, Job losing everything he worked for, is contradicted in Robinson s novel, Gilead since Ames mother saw bad luck as a blessing, That was a day s work lost for her, not to mention the setting hens and the fryers. The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly matches the predicted volume that was calculated for the conical section of the External Tank. Thus, the total volume of the solids of revolution will match as well. 776.16π+17.052π=793.212π Since it matches, this further proves that the math is correct and effective. Solids of Revolution for Orbiter Sadly, similar to the others, I could not find sufficient data to create a detailed model of the Orbiter, so all I can attempt is model another cylinder that has equal dimensions. So, using the formula again: Volume = ∫_a^b▒〖π (radius)^2 dx 〗 a will equal 0 and b will equal 32.85, since that is the length of the space shuttle. The radius will be 3.455 since the diameter is 6.91. This forms the function y=3.455. The solids of revolutions would look like the following images. This final value matches the predicted volume for the

He said that their new home would be marked with a discernible indication. The sign was an eagle on a cactus with a snake in his mouth. It took the tribe more than a hundred years of searching. Finally, a priest found the sign in the Valley of Mexico. However, other people already lived there. They didn t want to allocate their domain with the Aztecs. Hopefully, the South Carolina Board of Nursing will, aggressively, pursue both full practice and increased prescriptive authority of Schedule II drugs, for APNPs, in the near future. National Certifying Board Options for South Carolina There are two main certifying options, the AACN and the ANCC, for the state of SC (South Carolina Board of Nursing, 2016). The ANCC is professionally oriented, extensively covering research, policy and ethics (American Nurses Credentialing Center, 2017). The ANCC has 200 questions but only 175 are scored while AACC has 175 with only 150 scored (American Nurses Credentialing Center, 2017) (American Association of Critical Care Nurses, 2016). One event that followed the bombing of Pearl Harbor that majorly affected the outcome of the war was the creation of Japanese internment camps. Japanese internment camps were similar to German camps for the Jewish, but were not nearly as harsh. Americans were wrong in making the decision to create Japanese internment camps during World War II. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor. • 16. Job Plan For A Career Plan A career is defined by a sequence of positions, opportunities and windows that open and close says Alain Gosselin, Professor and Associate Director of Executive Education and leaders at HEC Montreal. This is why it may be useful to have a plan and update it if necessary. Often absorbed in their everyday life, students have trouble taking time to breathe and plan their week, not to talk about building a career plan. However, it is necessary to not wait until you are limited to think about it. Even though it was not appreciated in the past, the issue of labor mobility has now become an asset for executives. Today, someone who has acquired multiple experiences in several industries will be valued for his skills. Similarly, someone who has lived in many countries will be the resource person to support the implementation of a local agency. Contrary to what some may think, having a career plan does not betray an inordinate ambition. In some cases, it is even the trigger to find a better balance between family life and professional life. In this sense, a career plan has become necessary refocus on strategic choices. For a long time, I have been passionate about new technologies. Sensory information of different modalities is either processed independently before being integrated to provide an overall picture of our surroundings, or cross modal interaction occurs before integration. We compared visual evoked potentials (VEPs) evoked when attention is directed toward either visual or auditory stimuli and found no difference in mean P100 when attention was directed toward visual stimuli (2.41x10 5 ± 6.43x10 5 V, n=10) or auditory stimuli (1.68x10 5 ± 1.93x10 5 V, n=10). This evidence suggests that processing of visual information is unaffected by the concurrent processing of auditory information. Introduction The human brain receives input containing sensory information of different modalities from the surrounding environment. This information is processed in different areas of the brain that do not function in isolation and exhibit interactive plasticity (Roe et al., 1990). The processed information evokes activity in different cortical areas responsible for processing senses and is integrated to give coherent, detailed information (Molholm et al., 2002). • 37. Essay on Discuss Some Of The Main Ideas Sigmund Freud considered himself a scientist whose intention was to find a physiological and materialist basis for his theories of the psyche. Freud revolutionised the way in which we think about ourselves. From its beginnings as a theory of neurosis, Freud founded and developed psychoanalysis into a general psychology, which became widely accepted as the predominant mode of discussing personality, behaviour and interpersonal relationships. Freud, who had been studying neuropathology, left Vienna in 1885 to continue his studies in Paris under the guidance of Jean Martin Charcot. This proved to be the turning point in his career, for Charcot s work with patients classified as hysterics introduced Freud to the possibility that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others. Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop. Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour. These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them. Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was this that was at the root of later conflict. Most human beings can recall very little of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pawnee National Grasslands is one of the largest grasslands in the world, situated in Colorado, USA. It covers over 700 km2 of area, which means that it has one of the largest roles in shaping the environment in the surrounding area. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These pollutants can involve anything from pesticides to fine sediments to poisons. However, Grasslands act as natural water filters, helping prevent these pollutants from flowing down into waterways. How does this work? Purification is carried out by microbes such as bacteria or fungi in a biological process. However, this process only works well over time. Grasslands increase the time required for precipitation to reach rivers hence increasing the purity of the resulting water. However, if Pawnee National Grassland is replaced with roads and cities, the new impervious surfaces will cause the water to flow faster and are a source of even more pollutants. The cost of building a water filtration plant is around $6 8 billion, and it takes more than $300 million each year to operate it. So the choice is obvious to keep the free natural water filter rather than to build a costly unnecessary replacement. On the same note, not only will Pawnee National Grassland slow down the flow of water hence increase the purity of the water, but the slower run off also allows the grassland to act as a flood stop limiting the amount of water which can reach rivers like a sponge. If grasslands and native vegetation are kept and allowed to regenerate there will also be no need for expensive solutions for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, we do not truly realize and acknowledge the development and transition of the characters feelings, thoughts, and states of mind. Through Roger Chillingworth, Nathaniel Hawthorne demonstrates that trying to enact retribution on another will typically end in one s own demise. In this experiment we tested the effects of soil pH, soil moisture, organic horizon thickness, and slope of the hill, on the species dominance of specific trees along a hill in Charlottesville, Virginia, a city within the Appalachian mountain range. There were 5 transects, distinguished by pink tape, that started at the North end of the Hill and progressed down, then up the south side of the hill. Our data was then reflected upon F.E. Clements organismic approach, And Ramensky and Gleason s individualistic approach. The patterns between each variable and the survivability of the trees there, allow us to understand the species variation and each species dominance at the site. We hypothesized that the variations in community ecology would influence other variables, and the tree species surviving in that space. However, we found that the p values for each variable we tested against each other, moisture vs. pH, moisture vs. organic horizon, and pH vs. organic horizon, were not significant values, rejecting our null hypothesis. These findings at Ohill show the influence each variable has on the tree relative frequency and basal area.
