General Conception Of Prejudice And Prejudice
The presence of stereotypes and prejudices existed from a long time ago along with the human history
partially often deeply integrated with religion or social status. In 21st century, people are facing with
many different stereotypes and prejudices either directly or indirectly. Stereotype is a generalized
belief or assumption towards some specific groups or people by the defined attributes or
characteristics. Stereotyping can foster prejudice and shape people s point of views and behaviors of
ourselves and others. People measure the implicit and explicit prejudices such as linguistic bias or the
income inequality. Some theories with respect to researching this long lasting phenomenon have been
raised their awareness of the difference between the traditional prejudice and the contemporary
prejudice. To put it differently, the transition of empirical theories of prejudice has been evolved from
the blatant and overt form to the subtle and symbolic form. One of the biggest traits of the modern
prejudice is hard to catch or notice so that even the prejudice holders are not aware of what they are
performing. In this essay, I am going to address the general conception of prejudice using social
categorization theory and dive in more details about specific types of prejudice as the essay goes
further.
In general, people interact or communicate with each other in many ways. They use a mixture of
verbal and nonverbal methods to deliver their messages accurately and effectively.

The Nazi Doctors Trial In Nuremberg, Germany
The Nazi Doctors of World War 2 had to face the Doctors Trial in Nuremberg, Germany after the war.
The reason for the trial is because the Doctors in the Nazi Party had contributed or played a part in
genocide while following Hitler. Adolph Hitler was the German politician and leader of the Nazi Party
during the years from (1933 1945.) The doctors had performed unreasonable medical
experimentations on reluctant concentration camp prisoners. The final judgement on the trial
contributed into the creation of the Ten Commandments of Human Research. Some of those
commandments were that preparations and facilities must be able to keep the subject safe from all that

The principles listed in the commandments are followed by all doctors now. There might still be
strange men out there that are willing to go to the extreme for science just as these doctors did. Those
doctors committed crimes against humanity, and in doing so might have lost theirs as well.

Tensions Between Essential And Constructed Selves In...
Re dressing Feminist identities: Tensions Between Essential and constructed selves in Virginia Woolf s
Orlando
In this article, Burns, examines the personal identity and contextualized identity shown through
Virginia Woolf s, Orlando. Burns explains that it s not the person that changes, it s the interior self that
changes, it s the exterior self that changes. Woolf shows this by linking this theory, created by John
Locke, to the Oak Tree; the tree can be amputated of its branches or likewise to Orlando Castrated, but
it will still not change the inner self. Burns continues to explain that no change in identity has occurred
in Orlando during her body change. Although, she had a new body, Burns claims that her gender
cannot be affected until the clothes come on because the clothes are the shape the person.
Orlando Introduction by Maria Dibattista In the Gynomorphosis article, Dibattista writes that Orlando
s sex was changed which altered her future, but her identity remained the same. In addition, this
Gynomorphosis is meant under Woolf as a self actualizing event. Dibattista claims that Woolf is trying
to make us readers understand what is going on inside Orlando s mind rather than observe the events
that are happening to her. An agent that effects our mind is clothes. According to Dibattista, we are
molded by our clothing, therefore affecting how we think, feel, and speak. Clothes can mold our
exterior but is unreliable on the true person underneath it all, Woolf s

Remember The Titans Research Paper
While watching Remember the Titans, I learned a lot about team work and putting your differences
aside. Remember the Titans is based on a true story. It is the story of T.C. Williams High school in
Alexandria, Virginia. Tension runs high as the football team is integrated the summer before school. In
the beginning, the team has problems coming together because of their race. One coach, Herman
Boone, pushes them to overcome the racial stigmas and lead the team to a state championship. On this
journey they learn that life is more than just color and find similarities among each other. Remember

This week s readings investigate the rise of Islamic opposition and civic society groups in Egypt,
Turkey, and Algeria. In an overarching perspective, the readings contend that the failure of the post
colonial states in providing the public goods and services they were responsible for, as well as their
use of Islamist groups in order to crush the leftist opposition, provided political structures of
opportunity that the Islamic groups were able to exploit. In addition, the state hostility to civic society
Islamic opposition groups, gave rise to militant Islamic groups in some cases. The following
paragraphs will provide evidence from the texts to support the above assertions. Mobilizing Islam

This sector included private mosques, Islamic voluntary associations, as well is Islamic for profit
commercial enterprises (Wickham, 97). The financing of such associations came mainly through
religious charity, Zakat, and was able to provide, at the local level, public goods and services that the
state failed to provide, such as schooling, day care, and health clinics (Wickham, 99). The regime
tolerated this sector because it did not pose a threat to it, and due to its contribution to social stability
in poor neighborhoods (Wickham, 104). The regime s tolerance toward Islamic groups in the mid
1970s, gave rise to the new generations of Islamists, who would later form part of the leadership of
both militant and reformist sections of the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as other Islamic groups
(Wickham, 117). This indicates that the success of the MB in mobilizing public support was in great
part because they offered an alternative to the state s failure in providing the services it was supposed
to, and not necessarily due to the belief in the political agenda of the MB. The article by Tessler
contends that the support to Islamic groups in Algeria, was cultivated mainly due to the social welfare
functions such groups assumed (Tessler, 113). Islam constituted an alternative political

Essay on Sports Marketing
Sports Marketing
Marketing plans and strategies are an important part of almost any business today. One of the biggest
industries marketing plans have benefited and changed in a number of different ways is the sports
industry. The development of the sports marketing industry has led companies to invest millions of
dollars to have their product associated with specific teams, players, and sporting events attempting to
connect with consumer and create profit for both parties involved. The money involved in sports
marketing calls for these sponsorships and endorsement decisions to be made both strategically and
confidently. After researching the sports industry from a business perspective the importance of

The use of specific athletes in marketing campaigns really began to show promise when athletes like
Jordan began wearing their own brands of shoes. The idea to consumers or fans of the NBA that they
could wear the same shoes as Michael Jordan, and somehow play like him was an easy sell by Nike.
Today it is now common for marketable athletes in almost all sports to wear their own style of shoes,
spikes, or skates. An interesting point to make is that through Nike Michael Jordan eventually
launched his own clothing line called Jumpman23 that makes everything from socks and underwear to
winter coats. Even though Jordan has been retired since 1999 the Jumpman23 company has continued
to release a new shoe every single year that are simply called Jordan 24 , an increasing corresponding
number to the number of years the shoes have been produced. The new Jordan shoes still retails at
over $150 a pair even though Mike hasn t stepped on the court in 11 years! After retirement and
becoming the CEO of the Jumpman brand Michael Jordan has been able to court other famous athletes
from a variety of sports to wear his brand. A few examples of the athletes include Derek Jeter
(baseball), Dwayne Wade (basketball), Jason Taylor (football), and April Holmes (track and field).
The wide range of athletes in all different sports who now market a brand for arguably the greatest
athlete of all time truly shows the money, power, and influence an athlete can experience

Fdr s Economic Reform
From the early to mid 20th century, the U.S. underwent severe economic changes due to the internal
problems. A system of laissez faire does not protect the people in the most damaging recession, the
Great Depression. A shift from Hoover to FDR, leads to reform in the New Deal. Later in World War
II, the U.S. will isolate itself to focus on the internal economy. The changes in the economy reflected
back into the world and into domestic policy. Internally, reform and relief will bring back the nation
and the focus of internal economy would create global problems. The U.S. s economic policy shaped
the nation as a welfare state from FDR s New Deal and proved to be a world power from the causes

The National Recovery Administration would focus on labor reform as a 40 hour work week and
$3.50 minimum wage is established. The Works Progress Administration would provide temporary
jobs and the the Emergency Banking Relief Act would establish the new American banking system.
These are only a few of the alphabet agencies from the new deal. As the citizens became reliant on
federal aid, FDR set the government as a welfare government, helping the people out of their
economic crises. Along with the New Deal, Americans are also practicing FDR s policy of
isolationism. This again establishes U.S. s role of a world power. The U.S. s inability to convene in
world affairs leads to World War II. For example, the U.S. ignores the Spanish Civil War in which
fascist Francisco Franco wins with help from Nazi Germany. Then, the U.S. creates the Neutrality
Acts, which prevents Britain and France from receiving war materials and aid as they did in World
War I. These barriers result in the expansion of Nazi Germany and the fall of France. The U.S will
break their isolationist policy and join the Allies after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. From their
position of a world power, the U.S. would be placed on the Security Council in the U.N.. As a world
power, they will also provide monetary

Essay about The Full Effects of War
To some, war is a necessary evil. The United States has been involved in many wars since it s
founding in the late 1700 s and will in all probability continue to be involved in several more wars
throughout the continuation its future. The wars the United States have been involved in previously
and now currently a part of, results from a culmination of reasons (some necessary and others
unnecessary). Although war is not always a popular thing to become a part of, the full effects of the
war can t possibly be known and may never be known as long as the United States is a country.

Crane perpetuates this by stating Because your father... Raged at his breast, gulped and died (686).
Further, several other physical effects beg for US citizens to support the individuals. A few of these
conditions could possibly be; the loss of limbs, sight, hearing, etc. A writer for Aging and Mental
Health magazine states that in any traumatic war experience, malnutrition, immunological
deficiencies, and chronic infections lead to greatly increased mortality rates soon after the war and
over their lifetime (Davies 100). Further investigation would show an individual that these effects are
prominent throughout the world currently, even without war being the cause. Many underdeveloped
countries around the world currently have the aforementioned malnutrition and suffering. This
suffering will continue forever unless their countries develop to the point where these helpless people
can be taken care of. Hopefully the United States, supposedly being one of the most developed
countries in the world, can help returning wartime soldiers coming home from essential missions from
around the world with the physical aspects of the home life that they may no longer able to perform.
One way the United States can help out the soldiers returning with missing limbs, is by fitting them
with the limb or body parts that they have lost. According to Spc. Lorie Jewell from Soldiers
magazine; prosthetics are keeping soldiers in the

Children Should Not Receive Scheduled Vaccinations
Children are a vulnerable group within a population with respect to diseases, which then increases
their susceptibility to various illnesses, as adults generally have a stronger immune system as
compared to children. Steens, Beasley, Tsui, and Lee (1975) argued that children are more prone to be
a carrier of diseases than adults (as cited in Anderson and May, 1985). With that being said, the focus
remains on vaccinating children as the majority are in school for a great amount of time where they
are in proximity of one another, the continuous sharing of items, and are usually inconsistent with
hand hygiene. Under those circumstances, Anderson and May (1985) found that in children aged 5 15
infection rates would increase as a result of close contact within schools. Children who do not receive
scheduled vaccinations put themselves, as well as others at risk for vaccine preventable diseases, as
infants who are too young of age to receive vaccines, children, elderly, and community members who
have compromised immune systems most vulnerable to acquiring vaccine preventable diseases. Omer,
Salmon, Orenstein, DeHart, Halsey (2009) argued that outbreaks of diseases regularly begins with
individuals who refuse vaccinations, as it spreads within communities and other populations.
Combining these factors, there is a high possibility of outbreaks in schools of life threatening illnesses
such as measles, mumps, and polio that unfortunately has taken many lives retrospectively. For

Palm Oil Is The World s Most Common Oil
Palm oil is the world s most common oil that can be found in many household items ranging from bars
of soap to dietary foods. Most consumers are unaware that palm oil is present in most food substances
because it is not required to be labeled as such. It is simply branded as vegetable oil. The global
demand for this commodity has increased over the years creating expansions of plantations in
Indonesia leading to biodiversity loss, forest fires, peat degradation, hardship on families and a range
of social issues. Since the early 1980 s palm oil has more than tripled globally primarily in Indonesia.
Most of this expansion has occurred in Indonesia, where the total land area of oil palm plantations
increased by over 2100 per cent (more than 22 times greater) over the same period, growing to 4.6
million hectares . The primary source of supply and production of palm oil is through state owned, big
private corporations, and smallholder farmers. State owned plantations play a modest role in the
Indonesian palm oil industry as big private enterprises (such as the Wilmar Group and Sinar Mas)
produce approximately half of total Indonesian production. Smallholder farmers account for around 35
percent of cultivated land . Today there are nearly ten million hectares of land in Indonesia solely
dedicated to the plantation of this commodity. Individual smallholder farmers own between two and
ten hectares of land for their palm oil farmland. Plantations are located in rural areas

Technology Shaped the Rhapsody
Queen s 1975 classic Bohemian Rhapsody is extremely influenced by the recording technology used
to create its sound and enhance its musical presentation. Multi tracking phrases and over dubbing
instruments played a key role in the creation of the piece. The piece was revolutionary for the
progressive rock musical period as maximised the use of recording technology at the time. This can be
seen when compared to a contemporary classics of the time, Led Zeppelin s Stairway to Heaven and
Pink Floyd s Eclipse.
The Acapella Introduction of Bohemian Rhapsody (refer to bars 1 4 in figure 1) began when lead
singer, Freddie Mercury, created a chord progression consisting of Bb7, Cm7, F7.
Figure 1: Bars 1 4 of Acapella Introduction Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen reported in BBC News

had all his harmonies written out, and it was really just a question of doing it. Luckily for Queen, they
were able to stretch the recording industry to a place it had never been before. After creating chords,
Freddie then worked on lyrics and vocal harmonies, dividing the vocals into Solo, Soprano, Mezzo
Soprano, Alto and Bass. Mercury used multi tracking techniques and a Guide Track Piano to record
the various vocal parts. A Guide Track Piano is a Piano used to pre record a melodic guide for a

The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living Essay
Socrates was considered by many to be the wisest man in ancient Greece. While he was eventually
condemned for his wisdom, his spoken words are still listened to and followed today. When, during
his trial, Socrates stated that, the unexamined life is not worth living (Plato 45), people began to
question his theory. They began to wonder what Socrates meant with his statement, why he would feel
that a life would not be worth living. To them, life was above all else, and choosing to give up life
would be out of the picture. They did not understand how one would choose not to live life just
because he would be unable to examine it.
Socrates felt that if he was unable to examine life, he would not be really ... Show more content on

Socrates shocked everyone when he said he would choose death over anything else. However, the
answer to why he would do that lies in his statement. Socrates knew that, had he choose to go into
exile, he would be expected to stop living the way that he was. He would no longer be able to teach
others, let alone question and examine his own life. For Socrates, this would be absurd. He believed
the entire point of living life was to examine. He felt obligated to live a life where he questioned not
only what was going on in his life but also the rights and wrongs that happened. He would rather give
up his life than not be able to question what was happening.
Philosophy is about questioning life and the world one lives in. Without questioning and wondering,
life and philosophy would be worthless. An unexamined life would lead to one that was without
question and curiosity, something which Socrates could not fathom. Without the curiosity that comes
with examining life, philosophy would fail to exist. According to Socrates, a great philosopher, life
would not be worth living without the addition of the philosophical thinking that helped to make our
lives more exciting and worthwhile. Socrates lived his life to question and to wonder. The addition of
philosophy made this possible. If examining ceased to exist, so would the life of those who

Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden
Osama bin Laden founded al Qaeda in 1988 with the goal to rid Muslims countries of western
influences and replace their governments with Islamic regimes. Born in an extraordinarily wealthy
family, Osama bin Laden used his family s money to found the terroristic organization. Abdullah
Yusus Azzam was an influential Palestinian Sunni Islamic scholar who mentored bin Laden and
persuaded him to come to Afghanistan. The main goals of al Qaeda are to: spread Islam through the
world with or without the consent of the occupants, destroy Israel and it s affiliates, terrorize the
United States of America, financially bleed the United States, and fight to defend the rights of
Muslims. The organization s numerous attacks against the United States, and all of humanity (except
the Muslims) have changed the world s perception of terrorism. There are numerous religious
affiliates of al Qaeda, some of which include, Sunni Islamism, Takfirism, and Qutbism. There are very
few supporters of al Qaeda s beliefs and actions. Osama bin Laden issued a fatwa, a ruling point of
Islamic law given by a recognized authority, which eventually amounted to a public declaration of war
against the United States and its allies. There is a tremendous amount of confusion about the
connections between the Taliban and al Qaeda. Although the two have ties, they are completely
separate and distinct groups who have different goals. Starting in the late 1980s, an international

Response To Marmot s The Status Syndrome
In The Status Syndrome, Marmot argues that socioeconomic conditions lead to a hierarchical health
gradient, where mortality progressively decreases as one s socioeconomic status improves. He
illustrates this using mortality rate data about workers in the British civil service from the Whitehall
studies. The studies show that mortality in all age groups is higher for clerical workers, who earn less
and have a lower social standing, as compared to other professionals. Moreover, administrators, who
earn more than both these groups, have the lowest mortality rates, which shows a gradient in health.
Additionally, none of these workers are in poverty, and have access to medical care, which further
highlights that the health gradient is a phenomenon

The Problem Of Food Waste
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food
being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental
and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the
United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills,
at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My
research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total
cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and
consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s
hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue
in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s
population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost,
but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the
production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to
process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown
away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

of web songs has helped to improve the music business. In contrast, the previous mode has been

Analysis Of The Movie Silver Linings Playbook
A life interchanging from high to low, happy to sad, to the brink of exploding with euphoria to the
lowest low, is the life of a human living with Bipolar disorder. This roller coaster of emotions is
inevitable and almost unlikely to cure in terms of later onset. Living with any personality disorder puts
strain and hardship on your loved ones and is more then anyone would want to deal with in their short
lifetime. These disorders are more common than we know and the way they are treated will determine
the individual s psychological outcome. The movie Silver Linings Playbook does a great job depicting
a character with Bipolar disorder and the struggles the main character Pat faces on a day to day basis
through his road to recovery. Silver Linings Playbook displays many types of psychological disorders
that include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar disorder, and a slight sexual disorder. Bradley
Cooper does an exceptional job playing the role of Pat Solitano, a bipolar patient who has just been
released from a psychiatric ward after almost killing another man for sleeping with his wife. He plans
to relive his past and thinks that nothing has changed since he has been gone, a common occurrence of
a subject with bipolar disorder. On his journey he is set up with the character Tiffany, played by
Jennifer Lawrence. She is a recently widowed woman that uses sex as a way of coping with her loss.
These two characters connect throughout the movie and develop a relationship

Pratt s Architectural Style
The different architectural styles and use of public space throughout Pratt Institute expresses both the
function of the university and its relation to Clinton Hill and to changes occurring in New York City.
Pratt s original campus consisted of three brick Romanesque Revival styled buildings that were built
adjacent to one another, the Main Building, the East Hall Building, and the Student Union, and Pratt
Institute Library, which along with the Rose Garden, were available for public usage. Characterized by
its extravagant masonry, massive appearance, rounded arch windows, and arcaded entrances, the Main

, Like the Main Building, the Student Union and East Hall buildings were both designed after the
Romanesque Revival style in order to show the wealth of Charles Pratt and to help differentiate the
campus from the surrounding Clinton Hill neighborhood. Because Pratt Institute s privately owned,
steam powered electrical generating plant is in the East Hall building, the building has a large brick
smokestack, or chimney, for the release of steam. In contrast to Romanesque Revival style of the
Main, East Hall, and Student Union buildings, the Pratt Institute Library was designed after the
Renaissance Revival style in order to portray its function as a public library accessible to both students

Professor Wade Keith
Pacific Healthcare:
I. Major Facts
Mr. Howell, the director of radiology for Pacific Healthcare has passed away. He was in charge of the
supplier section of X ray film. Mr. Howell would not authorize the use of any X ray film other than
Kodak. Barney Rubble is the corporate director of supply management for Pacific. He is in charge of

That is a huge saving for Pacific Healthcare. Pacific Healthcare can save money as well as keeping the
same high quality as Kodak.
IV. Choice and Rationale
After reviewing all of the possible choices I chose to go with choice A. I chose A, because it saves
Pacific Healthcare a lot of money as discussed in choice C. By choosing DuPont the company would
save $450 a day compared to Kodak. That is $3,150 per week of savings and $12,600 a month by
switching to DuPont. Also in choosing Agfa which is the same quality as Kodak, Pacific Healthcare
would save $330. Keep in mind that Agfa and DuPont have the same quality as Kodak. Why choose
Agfa over DuPont if they have the same quality of X ray film? That is why I chose DuPont. It is a
smart solution, because it saves Pacific Healthcare money while also keeping the same quality as
Kodak. Moving on two the other choices Mr. Rubble has. In the beginning I mentioned that there were
four competitors that offered X ray films at a much lower rate than Kodak. The competitors were
Agfa, DuPont, Fugi, and 3M. I have discussed Agfa and DuPont. The reason for not adding Fugi and
3M to my possible solutions is because Pacific Health care wanted to keep the same high quality in X
ray film. Even though Fugi and 3M met minimum requirement they were thought of as having lower
quality. Pacific Healthcare was looking for obtaining the highest quality with the best service at

others and started to inspire others. She has reached that stage in life where she wanted to be more
independent. At this age she started to write in her own and really just started to write papers. The first
paper was assumed to be plagiarized. I have to say that this young lady fulfilled some big shoes shoes
that I don t know if I could have filled. The middle childhood stages last for a few years from about
six to eleven. At a young age Helen was determined to go to college without a shadow of a doubt. To
preparation are for Radcliffe College she entered the Cambridge School for Young Ladies. She did
very good in the school, and a few years later Helen entered Radcliffe College and received a
Bachelor of Arts edge and the first deaf blind person to do so. While she was a student at Radcliffe she
was interested in writing and wrote her own biography there which was The Story of My Life which
was the first story she ever wrote. Even though Helen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree she
saw herself as a writer first. Helen wrote a series of books for a person who was deaf and blind. Keller

A Case For A Stock
2. According to The difference, (n.d.), a bond is defined as a loan from the investor to the bond issuer,
to help raise capital for a company or government. A share is defined as a unit of ownership interest in
a corporation or financial asset that provide for an equal supply in any profits, in the form of dividends
( Shares, n.d.).
Ownership and rights
As stated in the beginning, a bond is considered as a loan from the investor. Therefore if a person
bought a bond such as corporate bonds from a bond issuer, he or she does not have any ownership in
the company with no direct control over the business. It will be just limited to lending and borrowing.
In the case for a stock, when companies wish to expend but unable to do solely through the income
they earn and turn to the financial markets for additional financing by splitting the company up into
stocks, and then sell a portion of on the open market. A person who buys stock is therefore buying an
actual share of the company, which makes him or her part owner (Kenny, 2016). Due to this, the
person who owns the stock (with the exception to preferred stocks) is entitled to vote on annual
general meeting.
Period of ownership
As bond has a loan period. The issuer issues a bond that contains the interest rate that will be paid and
the time at which the loaned funds (bond principal) must be returned also known as maturity date (
Bond, n.d.) As for stocks, the owner can own for an unlimited period until he or she

he was a gang member. The Police arrived and were on scene much sooner than the EMTs were. They

they noticed the patient was still alive. The piece of his mind that controlled his breathing remained,
amazingly, in place. They rushed him to the ER. They then knew this was a case of a dying man. The

have been out of Moreno s comfort zone. She had to rely on her partners so she probably felt helpless

thought of what she witnessed. Moreno seemed uncomfortable since it was the first human brain she s

quotation shows she is mortified of seeing John Doe s brain. Then Moreno remarks, I had the strangest
feeling while watching him (605). Moreno s feelings were getting the best of her at this moment.
Moreno was starting to get emotionally involved with the case, and feeling sympathy for John Doe s

Why Is World War 1 Necessary
Was World War 1 a Necessary World Conflict?
What happened in World War 1 (WWI)? Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to Austria Hungary s throne,
and his wife, Sophie, were assassinated by Serbian nationalist. Austria Hungary then declared war on
Serbia, Germany declared war on Russia, Germany declared war on France, and the United Kingdom
declared war on Germany, after Germany invades Belgium, then Austria Hungary declares war on
Russia and Serbia declares war on Germany. From there the first battle began. The war mainly took
place in Europe and in the seas. This war caused many casualties. World War One was one of the
deadliest conflicts in the history of the human race, in which over 16 million people died. The total
number of both civilian and military casualties is estimated at around 37 million people. The war
killed almost 7 million civilians and 10 million military personnel (Historyonthenet). World War 1 was
a necessary conflict because of alliances, military tactics, and new inventions.

The war was beneficial to some countries like America. When the war began, the U.S. economy was
in recession. But a 44 month economic boom ensued from 1914 to 1918, first as Europeans began
purchasing U.S. goods for the war and later as the United States itself joined the battle (Lozada). WWI
helped spark inspiration for change, in agriculture. The First World War also signifies an important
turning point in the history of American food consumption because it represents a shift in eating
habits, culinary practices, and domestic food preparation, including the infiltration of fresh home
grown fruit and vegetables and preserved or canned foods into the US diet, and the introduction of
supermarkets (Tanfer Emin). During the time of WWI, many technologies were created. Sanitary
napkins, watches, lamps, and more all came from WWI. This world conflict was necessary in order for

After World War I the Russians feared Germany coming against them and taking them over, so they
created a sphere of influence in the countries bordering them and Germany. The Soviets built the

Winston Churchill stated From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has

powers, so Truman doctrine and the Marshal plan were created. The Truman doctrine would lead to

The Nazi Regime
The rise of the Nazi regime in Germany in the early part of the 20th century was an impressive, and
nearly unforeseen incident that had long lasting implications on the rest of the Western world. While
the Nazi party was extreme in their ideologies, the circumstances in which they came to power were
dire; Germany had been crippled by a massive depression and was being forced to pay reparations
through the Young Plan which required Germany to pay the Allied forces a series of annual payments
extending until 1988 (Bullock, 160). The German people were left without any leadership in a time of
disparity, but naturally, a strong leader filled this vacuum. Even though the actions of the Nazi party

Therefore, consumers might visit a retailer to enjoy a mood changing experience, something that will
make them feel good (Hefer Cant, 2013). Visual merchandising is about creating that WOW
experience for consumers as soon as they enter the building. Each display, sign, and store decoration
serves a purpose. And that purpose is to inspire each customer to buy. When creating visual
merchandising ideas, you must think about store spacing. Visual and product merchandising along
with the store layout plays a major role in day to day operations and sales. Retailers design plan o

Perceptual Processing Essay
The Special Role of Faces in Perceptual Processing Attention is often diverted by irrelevant distractors
despite the need to concentrate on a task, and this is prevalent in daily life (e.g. ads pop ups while
working on the computer, signboards while driving). The perceptual load theory suggests that
attention is an automatic process with limited capacity all stimuli will be processed within its capacity
limits (Lavie, 1995). In accordance with the theory, interference from irrelevant distractors is
dependent on the amount of perceptual load. Task irrelevant stimuli would be unattended in high load
conditions since information processing is at its full capacity, preventing further processing, whereas
in low load conditions, spare capacity spills over to process the irrelevant distractors (Lavie Cox,
1997). Several studies have supported the perceptual load theory and the capability of irrelevant
distractors to be processed automatically. In a visual search task, performance in which there was an

Next, the non striated muscles are the exact opposite of striated muscles. These muscles are also
known as smooth muscles and they function automatically without conscious will. They are

you can find a non striated muscle would be in the digestive or respiratory system. Lastly, the cardiac
muscle is found in only one part of the body. The cardiac muscle contains the heart and is involuntary

Characteristics Of Effective Leadership Styles
Characteristics of Effective Leadership Styles
Presented to

William Allen
June 21, 2015
What are the effective leadership styles? More importantly what are the characteristics of these styles.
This paper will discuss in detail three topics and how they relate to effective leadership styles. We will
start by evaluating business situations to determine whether the leadership style is participative,
autocratic, leadership grid based or entrepreneurial. Next we will compare and contrast the leadership
styles in various situations based upon the leadership differences by gender. Lastly, we will decide the
best leadership style for specific situations. Different business situations require specific leadership
styles. These leadership styles include participative, autocratic, leadership grid based and
entrepreneurial. The Participative leadership style is characterized by a leader who turns to the team
for input, ideas, and observations instead of making all decisions on their own. The leader recognizes
that the team has skills and ideas that could benefit the decision making process. Participative
leadership requires the whole team to be involved. Benefits of this style of leadership includes having
subordinates feeling empowered and important. Its also able to give different strategies and decisions

Survival At The Cost Of Mortality In Literature
The theme of survival at the cost of morality is evident in an abundant amount of literature seen today.
This type of literature is studied everywhere from school classrooms to reading on an individual s free
time. Morality relates to what behavior is considered right or wrong based on an individual s ethics.
Sometimes a person may do things that they did not originally intend to do, but they feel as if they
have to behave this way to get what they want, or even survive. The characters discussed in this
English course that have displayed the quality of survival at the cost of mortality is Pi, Claudius, and
Hamlet. The most obvious example of a character that had to go against his morals to survive is Pi
from Yann Martel s Life of Pi. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet is one of the most prominent characters discussed in the duration of the class because he is a
very diverse character. The first time Hamlet appears in the play Hamlet is when is hurt by his mother
s remarriage to Claudius: ...Why she, even she / O God, a beast that wants discourse of reason/ Would
have mourned longer! married with my/ uncle,/ My father s brother... (I, ii, 153 157). In this quotation,
Hamlet compares Gertrude to an animal, saying that an animal would mourn longer for its mate. By
saying this, it further proves the emotional damage that this marriage brought upon him. However,
anyone would be upset if their mother ended up marrying their deceased husband s brother, especially
when the brother is the one that killed her husband. Although this is not known by the reader or
Hamlet yet because it is reveal shortly after. When Hamlet speaks to the ghost of his father and
discovered that his father was not bitten by a snake and was actually murdered by Claudius, he has a
plan: As I perchance hereafter shall think meet/ To put an antic disposition on (I, v, 191 192). Saying
that he will put an antic disposition on really means that he will begin to act crazy to cover up his
feelings and plans of seeking revenge on King Claudius. Hamlet does this so the other citizens of

Santa Claus Stereotypes
Dreams of a White Christmas Without a doubt, Santa Claus is one of America s, if not the world s,
most iconic figures. A symbol of the secular West s religion of consumerism, Santa Claus and his
twelve reindeer have hijacked the holiday dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ, and replaced it with
the gospel of spending. As both a cultural icon and the patron saint of capitalism, the depiction of
Santa Claus in recent years has been seriously debated. While today he is near universally depicted as
a portly old man, in a red and white suit and with a long, white beard, some argue that Santa s image
should reflect the changing demographics of the American public. Last year, a national debate ensued
after author Aisha Harris wrote for Slate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . Making Santa Claus an animal rather than an old white male could spare millions of nonwhite kids
the insecurity and shame that I remember from childhood. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not,
Santa is one of the first iconic figures foisted upon you: He exists as an incredibly powerful image in
the imaginations of children across the country (and beyond, of course). That this genial, jolly man
can only be seen as white and consequently, that a Santa of any other hue is merely a joke or a chance
to trudge out racist stereotypes helps perpetuate the whole white as default notion endemic to
American culture (and, of course, not just American culture).
Despite the surface frivolity of this argument, it highlights some deeper issues endemic in race politics
in contemporary America. While the white as default notion may not strike many white Americans as
particularly problematic, if they even notice it, it does make sense that children would like to see
cultural images that reflect themselves, and not in ways that are merely comical or ironic. However,
when Megyn Kelly at Fox news read Harris s argument, she took an entirely different stance on the
preferable imagery of Santa Claus. In her segment, Kelly addresses the children and adult members of

  • 2. General Conception Of Prejudice And Prejudice The presence of stereotypes and prejudices existed from a long time ago along with the human history partially often deeply integrated with religion or social status. In 21st century, people are facing with many different stereotypes and prejudices either directly or indirectly. Stereotype is a generalized belief or assumption towards some specific groups or people by the defined attributes or characteristics. Stereotyping can foster prejudice and shape people s point of views and behaviors of ourselves and others. People measure the implicit and explicit prejudices such as linguistic bias or the income inequality. Some theories with respect to researching this long lasting phenomenon have been raised their awareness of the difference between the traditional prejudice and the contemporary prejudice. To put it differently, the transition of empirical theories of prejudice has been evolved from the blatant and overt form to the subtle and symbolic form. One of the biggest traits of the modern prejudice is hard to catch or notice so that even the prejudice holders are not aware of what they are performing. In this essay, I am going to address the general conception of prejudice using social categorization theory and dive in more details about specific types of prejudice as the essay goes further. • 3. The Nazi Doctors Trial In Nuremberg, Germany The Nazi Doctors of World War 2 had to face the Doctors Trial in Nuremberg, Germany after the war. The reason for the trial is because the Doctors in the Nazi Party had contributed or played a part in genocide while following Hitler. Adolph Hitler was the German politician and leader of the Nazi Party during the years from (1933 1945.) The doctors had performed unreasonable medical experimentations on reluctant concentration camp prisoners. The final judgement on the trial contributed into the creation of the Ten Commandments of Human Research. Some of those commandments were that preparations and facilities must be able to keep the subject safe from all that could possibly happen. Human subjects must be able to immediately stop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The principles listed in the commandments are followed by all doctors now. There might still be strange men out there that are willing to go to the extreme for science just as these doctors did. Re dressing Feminist identities: Tensions Between Essential and constructed selves in Virginia Woolf s Orlando In this article, Burns, examines the personal identity and contextualized identity shown through Virginia Woolf s, Orlando. Burns explains that it s not the person that changes, it s the interior self that changes, it s the exterior self that changes. Woolf shows this by linking this theory, created by John Locke, to the Oak Tree; the tree can be amputated of its branches or likewise to Orlando Castrated, but it will still not change the inner self. Burns continues to explain that no change in identity has occurred in Orlando during her body change. Although, she had a new body, Burns claims that her gender cannot be affected until the clothes come on because the clothes are the shape the person. Orlando Introduction by Maria Dibattista In the Gynomorphosis article, Dibattista writes that Orlando s sex was changed which altered her future, but her identity remained the same. In addition, this Gynomorphosis is meant under Woolf as a self actualizing event. Dibattista claims that Woolf is trying to make us readers understand what is going on inside Orlando s mind rather than observe the events that are happening to her. An agent that effects our mind is clothes. According to Dibattista, we are molded by our clothing, therefore affecting how we think, feel, and speak. In an overarching perspective, the readings contend that the failure of the post colonial states in providing the public goods and services they were responsible for, as well as their use of Islamist groups in order to crush the leftist opposition, provided political structures of opportunity that the Islamic groups were able to exploit. The regime tolerated this sector because it did not pose a threat to it, and due to its contribution to social stability in poor neighborhoods (Wickham, 104). An interesting point to make is that through Nike Michael Jordan eventually launched his own clothing line called Jumpman23 that makes everything from socks and underwear to winter coats. Even though Jordan has been retired since 1999 the Jumpman23 company has continued to release a new shoe every single year that are simply called Jordan 24 , an increasing corresponding number to the number of years the shoes have been produced. Steens, Beasley, Tsui, and Lee (1975) argued that children are more prone to be a carrier of diseases than adults (as cited in Anderson and May, 1985). With that being said, the focus remains on vaccinating children as the majority are in school for a great amount of time where they are in proximity of one another, the continuous sharing of items, and are usually inconsistent with hand hygiene. For Socrates, this would be absurd. He believed the entire point of living life was to examine. • 28. A Case For A Stock 2. According to The difference, (n.d.), a bond is defined as a loan from the investor to the bond issuer, to help raise capital for a company or government. A share is defined as a unit of ownership interest in a corporation or financial asset that provide for an equal supply in any profits, in the form of dividends ( Shares, n.d.). Ownership and rights As stated in the beginning, a bond is considered as a loan from the investor. Therefore if a person bought a bond such as corporate bonds from a bond issuer, he or she does not have any ownership in the company with no direct control over the business. It will be just limited to lending and borrowing. Due to this, the person who owns the stock (with the exception to preferred stocks) is entitled to vote on annual general meeting. Period of ownership As bond has a loan period. The issuer issues a bond that contains the interest rate that will be paid and the time at which the loaned funds (bond principal) must be returned also known as maturity date ( Bond, n.d.) As for stocks, the owner can own for an unlimited period until he or she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This new experience can have an effect on her and make her realize what can lie ahead. This quotation shows she is mortified of seeing John Doe s brain. Then Moreno remarks, I had the strangest feeling while watching him (605). Moreno s feelings were getting the best of her at this moment. Moreno was starting to get emotionally involved with the case, and feeling sympathy for John Doe s family. Perceptual Processing Essay The Special Role of Faces in Perceptual Processing Attention is often diverted by irrelevant distractors despite the need to concentrate on a task, and this is prevalent in daily life (e.g. ads pop ups while working on the computer, signboards while driving). In accordance with the theory, interference from irrelevant distractors is dependent on the amount of perceptual load. Task irrelevant stimuli would be unattended in high load conditions since information processing is at its full capacity, preventing further processing, whereas in low load conditions, spare capacity spills over to process the irrelevant distractors (Lavie Cox, 1997). A symbol of the secular West s religion of consumerism, Santa Claus and his twelve reindeer have hijacked the holiday dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ, and replaced it with the gospel of spending. As both a cultural icon and the patron saint of capitalism, the depiction of Santa Claus in recent years has been seriously debated. That this genial, jolly man can only be seen as white and consequently, that a Santa of any other hue is merely a joke or a chance to trudge out racist stereotypes helps perpetuate the whole white as default notion endemic to American culture (and, of course, not just American culture). Despite the surface frivolity of this argument, it highlights some deeper issues endemic in race politics in contemporary America. While the white as default notion may not strike many white Americans as particularly problematic, if they even notice it, it does make sense that children would like to see cultural images that reflect themselves, and not in ways that are merely comical or ironic.
