The Ancient Greek Of Greek Civilization
The ancient Greeks were unique and had a one of a kind culture which would heavily influence the
Western world. Their literature would bring forth works that intertwined religious, philosophical,
mythological, and political all in one. From the Bronze Age to the Dark Age, the ancient Greeks
would be innovators for practices we have become accustomed to, such as philosophy, democracy,
literature and even theatricals. During this time, most that had been illuminated had been lost in the
Dark Ages, yet thanks to Homer, a Greek writer, some of Greeks lost age was recorded and survived
centuries to come. (Damrosch 186) Little is known about the beginning of Greek civilization;
however, Ancient Greece can be traced back to earlier cultures of ... Show more content on

This would leave many Greeks illiterate. (Betts) However, pottery persisted throughout different
regions as well as variation burial sites. Identifying and examining these different burial sites, shows
how the Greeks would replace Mycenean burial practices. Pottery, a lot like burial practices, would
shift and differ as well as time went forth. (Violatti) It wasn t until literature and the formation of a
new political institution that the Greek s Dark Ages would come to an end. (Violatti) Since literature
was lost, the Greeks relied on oral story telling. (Damrosch 186) Yet, we can thank Homer for his
literature contributions to shed light on the Greeks lost age. Not much is known about Homer, yet his
literary works and the profound influence it had on Ancient Greek is widely known. Soon after the
Greeks adapted and added to the alphabet borrowed from the Phoenicians, Homer s works would be
set in writing. (PBS) Homer s poems were not written down until much after he composed them, due
to lack of literacy. (Lloyd) Homer s work had a huge impact on Greek culture as well as their
education, and influenced cultures to come. (Lloyd) Homer s Iliad, as well as The Odyssey, would set
social standards as well as a common set of values. He brought forth the heroism and nobility, and
how disgrace and dishonor is the worst that can happen to a hero. He set the tone that good deeds of a
man in his life might become immortal. (PBS) Homer also included much of the information

The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He...
The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office.
The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that there is
more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was very short, he
made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would have helped America
in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he would have accomplished.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at
the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while
Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was the only known person who ... Show more

He was in the marines so he had a great deal of skill in handling guns. He wanted to live in Russia, but
he could not get his visa. When he lived in Dallas, Texas he openly expressed his views of
communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of Kennedy. For less
than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located near Daeley Plaza. The
theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository and hid the gun there. When
the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was found on the barrel on the gun
(Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a pistol. He then returned to the
Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer approached to question him. He was
arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later JFK 5 that he was linked to the
assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the accounts of shooting both President
Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There
are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t want Oswald selling him out if they were
accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008).
There are witnesses that can testify that they saw a man fire a weapon from the sixth floor of the
Depository. Eye witness Howard L. Brennan claimed that he saw a man in leaning out of a window on

John Locke (1632 1704), Adam Smith and Francois Marie Arouet (1694 1778) were major historical
Enlightenment thinkers. Francis Marie Arouet writing under the pen name Voltaire championed
individual freedom and attacked institutions sponsoring intolerant or oppressive politics.
Classic liberalism is a political ideology that advocates limited government constitutionalism, rule of
law, due process, individual liberties including freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and free
markets. The Age of Enlightenment was a cultural movement of intellectuals in Europe and the United
States, whose purpose was to reform society and advance knowledge. It promoted science and
intellectual interchange and opposed superstition, intolerance and abuses by church and state.
European states ended the Thirty Years War with the Peace of Westphalia (1648), which laid the
foundations for a system of independent, competing states. They also mutually recognized their rights
to organize their domestic and religious affairs and agreed that political and diplomatic affairs were to
be conducted by states acting in their own interests.
Nationalism can be traced to the nineteenth century, European peoples came to identify strongly with
communities they called nations. Members of a nation considered themselves a distinctive people that

Stereotypes In The Wasp Factory
The novels Lady Audely s secret , Rebecca , and The wasp Factory possess analogous elements of the
gothic. They present diverging concepts of femininity rebelling against imposed gender stereotypes,
and focalise on the usually marginalised abjected figures of society. (Kristeva, 1982:3) This essay
aims to argue how the gendered the monster are embodiments of social anxieties and ideologies and
how challenge these projections. Mutual notions within the texts such as: the use of gothic tropes,
uncanny gender subverting society s ideals, and monsters as metaphors will be explored. Feminist and
Gothic critics, predominantly Cohen and Butler, will be engaged in order to consider distinctive
vantage points.

The Military Decision Making Process Essay
The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is an analytical and deliberate process that
commanders follow using seven steps that includes the receipt of the mission, mission analysis, course
of action development, course of action analysis, course of action comparison, course of action
approval and orders production. The MDMP gives leaders a thorough process to follow that provides
clarity and synchronization for operations even under time constrained environments. We need an
Army that is trained on making decisions, able to anticipate needs and able to be proactive in
accomplishing tasks even when unexpected duties arise. The MDMP sets the Army up for success in
getting to this point. Without the MDMP, leaders will struggle to make crucial decisions and they will
certainly struggle to make them under pressure during time sensitive missions.
Not just our own history but the history of other countries has shown that running military operations
without planning properly can result in inconceivable losses. At the National Defense Executive
Reserve Conference on November 14, 1957, Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as stating: I heard
long ago in the Army: plans are worthless, but planning is everything. The MDMP is a single,
established, and proven analytical process (US Department of the Army, 1997). The process is crucial
to our success not just because of the course of action (COA) developed out of it but more so because
of what we learn out of the process along the way.

Bring Me The Horizon Hero s Journey
Bring Me the Horizon flew onto the death metal scene in 2003, and at only fifteen years old, this wild
and outrageous group of boys had a small but strong following. Over the past thirteen years, the band,
and subsequently their music, has departed from a messy, hectic tornado and developed into a
clearheaded, meaningful movement. When the band leaked a track from their new album, That s The
Spirit, earlier last year, fans were shocked. With a lack of screaming vocals and breakdowns the part
of a metal song that urges the listener to jump into a moshpit Bring Me the Horizon had entered a new
territory: alternative rock. That s the Spirit is a phenomenal, eleven track rock album infused with
metal sounds which draws strong melodies and powerful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

me from myself, don t let me drown . If you like soft rock choruses and heavier verses in combination
with deeply meaningful and witty lyrics, then this album will be an instant favorite. Track eleven, Oh
No , is the final song on the album, and is a far departure from Bring Me the Horizon s classic death
metal and extreme hardcore sound. Featuring no screaming whatsoever and a catchy dance tune in the
background, this is the perfect calling card for Bring Me the Horizon s unapologetic leap into

Franklins Road To Humility Essay
Ben s Autobiography begins in humility and ends in humility. He is born into a modest family being
the youngest son of the youngest son for five generations back. He finishes part two with the modesty

He proceeds to his brothers place of business to show off all these things and before he leaves he buys

is the humility in that? His brother later said he was insulted so much in front of his workers that he
could never forgive or forget. Ben thought he was on top of the world when he came back to visit his
family. But before he knew it, his father declined to assist him and he was stuck in England with no
money and no job. That was one of the lessons he needed to learn in order to reach real humility in his
later years. One day you are dining with royalty and have everything you need, the next day you are
looking for a place to day, lonely, and living on bread and water.
Ben uses the words reality and appearance twice in the autobiography. The first time it is in regards to
him being efficient and hardworking. But he goes on to show how he is hardworking in the eyes of the
citizens. He says that, in order to secure my credit and character as a tradesman... I would dress plainly
and was never seen in places of idle Diversion, and I would never go out fishing or shooting (page
367). This proves the appearance of his hardworking efficiency. He doesn t say anything about what
he really wanted to do in regards to fishing and shooting etc. On page 384 we see the second mention
of reality and appearance. It was these few paragraphs that convinced me Benjamin Franklin

In 2005, Swedish researchers, Nevonen and Broberg, investigated the effectiveness of highly

They released a study examining thirty five EDNOS participants with a mean age of 20.5, matched
and randomized to twenty three sessions of sequenced CBT, followed by either individual or group

Researchers cite potential hypotheses for the decline such as 1) poorly trained therapists; 2)
inexperienced psychotherapists; and 3) the placebo effect, meaning that the newness of the technique
has worn off (Pretzer, 2015), but suggest that more research is needed to confirm the substantial
decline in clinical outcome measures. Areas of Disagreement in the Research Holistic Treatments: The
Causal Model Emotional Etiology Integrative medicine and holistic therapy for obesity and comorbid
anxiety are partners in treating the whole person, knowing that one part of a person cannot become ill,
or well, without all of the other parts being affected (Clinton, 2010). Therapists Emmett and Rabinor
(2007) of Rhode Island are advocates of the holistic treatment of eating pathology. They cite that
holistically healed individuals possess a relatively stable sense of inner well being, contentment, and
the feeling that they fit and belong to their surrounding community a robust reclamation of the
complete self, physically, emotionally, and spiritually (Emmett et al., 2007, p. 82). Thomas (2009)
supports this presupposition adding that recovery must encompass this profound personal
transformation not merely changes in behaviorally verifiable criteria such as weight gain, caloric
intake, and binge cycle frequency (From the Editor section, para.3).

of all employment. This share of world employment in travel and tourism is greater than any other
industries combined, across every region of world. This industry is relatively positive. The job in
travel and tourism is forecast to an average of 9% per year over the past years. So, according to world

Allusions In Brave New World
After the publishing of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, modern literature has changed forever. It
is considered a masterpiece and one of the pillars of the dystopian novel. However, both of those
affirmations can be called into question. The former based on a subjective opinion of a reader and the
latter through compromising its dystopian nature. Similarly to George Orwell s novels, the main
appeal of Brave New World is within the ideas it contains, not within its literary merits. Huxley s
talent is essentially composed of his ideas and the attitude he assumes towards the problems he
presents. He took full advantage of his endowment in Brave New World Revisited, a non fiction work
sequel to Brave New World. The sequel is devoid of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aldous Huxley himself seems to be more concerned with the scientific aspect of Brave New World
than with literary techniques and qualities. In a later edition of his novel, he expressed his opinion
that: One vast and obvious failure of foresight is immediately apparent, Brave New World contains no
reference to nuclear fission. Evidently, he pondered the topic of Brave New World over and over and
was not afraid to admit his faults. This utterly scientific approach is illustrated by his formulation of
the sequel, Brave New World Revisited. Clearly Huxley must have seen Brave New World as more
than just a literary fiction novel, if he was so persistant he felt the need to recapitulate all his ideas
after almost thirty years and furthermore, abandon the literary fiction. Having said that, it must be
acknowledged that if Brave New World would have been written as a non fiction work, a scientific
essay for example, it would have never been able to spread to the extent it did as a novel. That is a
motive possibly explaining Huxley s choice of genre. But does someone who does not care about
science deserve to enjoy the merits of scientific prognosis? Whether such person does or does not
deserve it is controvertible to judge, therefore whether the motive was justifying Huxley s decision or
not can be disputed. But Brave New World could only profit from being refined for less general
audience. One of the most interesting elements in Brave New World is the

follows any flow structure: production is planned without any solid criteria and there is no single flow
route for either materials or machinery. This unstructured work floor causes: joinery department job
shops are untidy and congested (joiners are working on several part finished items at once, single
pieces of equipment are shared by 10 or more joiners, joiners try to fit in with each other over the use

Despite of this chaos, it has been identified that the specific case of the manufacturing and assembling
staircases follows a repeatable process steps (although staircases are different): cutting timber,
sanding, machining and tenoning, which makes this process potentially standardised. Therefore, it can
be said that Lean principles can be applied to this process. However, in order to identify the
applicability of Lean principles to the rest of the processes, more information should be provided.

Present Themes In The First Day By Edward P. Jones
American actress and model, Kristen Stewart, once said, Judging a person does not define who they
are. It defines who you are. Kristen Stewart (A Z Quotes). People judge others every single day. Silent
eyes beat down on people and negative thoughts seeping into hearts. Everyone does it, but some just
are clueless about the impact. This judgment is present in Edward P. Jones The First Day, where a
little girl comes to realize that people are judging her and her mother for being who they are, and
determining what they are like based on their status. In Jones short story The First Day, the present
theme is that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how economically stable
they are. This focus is present through the imagery of the little girl and the characterization of the
mother.
One way Jones shows the theme that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and
how economically stable they are, is through the imagery of the little girl. It is an African American
girl s first day of school, and the mother is getting her all dolled up to make a good impression. I am
wearing a checkeredlike blue and green cotton dress, and scattered about these colors are bits of
yellow and white and brown. My mother has uncharacteristically spent nearly an hour on my hair that
morning, plaiting and replaiting so that now my scalp tingles (Jones 1). The mother really wants to
make a good impression on the new school that her daughter is going to, and not look poor or
different. When saying that the mother has uncharacteristically done her hair, the mother is going out
of her way to do something special. The mother has spent an hour on this girl s hair for her very first
day of school, which is not like herself. Thus showing, that the mother really cares about the first
impression that the daughter makes at her new school and community, and how they are viewed with
their status. The mother is changing the image of her daughter to try and better her off. Ultimately,
through imagery, the highlighted theme is that people are judged based on their statuses.
The mother in the story also proves that people are judging. Through the use of characterization by

Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket and A Pair of Tickets, the settings support the concept of a location
being connected to the stages of life. There is a correlation between the setting and the theme of each
of the short stories. Schools are a place where one receives and education; on the other hand, it is a
place where innocence blooms. Japan as a piece of the setting supports the concept even further.
Yasunari Kawabata s work, The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket takes place in a school playground
where there s a group of children out insect hunting. Elements of children and the playground
represents the youthfulness of an individual s life as it begins pure. Ideas of the youth are presented in
the lines, Behind the white board fence of the school playground... (Kawabata, Yusanari, 1924). The
color white as stated in the previous line is correlated with innocence, goodness, softness, and
perfection. By choosing to describe the color of the fence, something that is redundant in our daily
lives, he is implementing further the idea of the purity when a life begins as well as relationships.
Correspondingly, the children in the playground play an important along with said

China s World s Elite Currency
Chinese Ren Min Bi has become one of the world s elite currency. On Monday, November 31, 2015,
The International Monetary Fund has approved China s yuan into its elite reserve currency. As this
decision announced, it will impact China s economy. This new policy will help pave the way for
broader use of the renminbi in trade and finance, securing China s standing as a global economic
power, just like four other currencies the US dollar, the European euro, the English pound and the
Japanese yen.

Firstly, the dominance of the US dollar as an international currency to be more reduced. Chinese
government believes that the positive effect will be felt by the country s currency if the yuan becomes
number one in the world, one of which is able to weaken the hegemony of the US dollar as global
reserve currency. It also increases the importance of China in global financial markets. The impact
could be felt at least in the near future, in the third quarter of 2016. In Indonesia, on the last few years,
people can put their assets in bank by using US Dollar, but in the next few year, it cannot be denied if
people can put Ren Min Bi as their assets, because Ren Min Bi exchange rate is cheaper and friendly
than US Dollar.
Secondly, the demand for renminbi asssets could be increased. The inclusion of the yuan also

in the capital market. However, the inclusion of the Ren Min Bi as a global reserve currency that could

False News Bias Essay
Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments so
they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many people rely
on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of what they are being
told is a lie. False news is a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake news spreads rapidly,
changing people s views on the world constantly. However, putting an end to this media trend has
proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads at an alarmingly fast rate.
Usually, false stories start as a hoax on a small scale website, blog, or even social media post. A

Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the information that
aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not. According to a recent
analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake news is divisive . On the
other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not.
With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided
on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with
false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most
popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters
were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that
was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But
why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on
something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources
have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do
this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their
sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake News
and the Internet Shell Game ). Unfortunately, once fake news is produced and in the public, it can

Psych Network Research Paper
Back in 2011, there was a major online attack that involved the Sony PlayStation online gaming
service, PS Network and the compromise of 77 million users personal information. This was one of
the largest corporation attacks within the last 10 years involving so many accounts. The attack took
place between April 17th and 19th when an illegal and unauthorized person gained access to the
personal account server and stole the information. What made this attack so much more important than
just the amount was what was stolen during the attack. It did not just usernames and gamer tags, but
the actual account owner s name, address, email, birthday, password, login and security questions.
With this information, the attacker was able to gain access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first theory is that the hacker group Anonymous became aware of a vulnerability inside of the
PlayStation network and informed other hacking groups of this information. Then those said groups
decided to take advantage of use an SQL injection attack to gain this information. A SQL injection
attack involves the use of SQL statements written on the database layer of an application and is then
run by the system to perform whatever statement was written there. This attack happened to be a form
of SQL code that would take the information on the database and release it to the hacker. The other
theory of how this occurred lies inside of a PlayStation 3 firmware build called Rebug , which turns
the console into a developer kit used by game designers. With this feature active, it allows users to
access parts of the PS3 s infrastructure that would not be normally available to the everyday consumer.
What also came with this firmware update was the ability to access Sony s internal developer network.
Additionally from there, hackers gained access to the internal secure network and could perform all
kinds of hacks to trick the system. Sony may have not taken into consideration that their secure
network could become a vulnerability to their servers. The other presented issue that came with this
attack was that Sony never encrypted the data on their servers in the first place. Which means when

SO2, as a pollutant with high reactivity, attracts attention of many scientists due to its property to form
acid rains, as well as due to the fact that it is responsible for formation of sulfoxy radicals which can
cause serious damage to the environment [1,2]. The acid rain issue, whose pH value is under 5,6,
occurs in 40% of the territory in China [3]. European most endangered regions are the Netherlands,
Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic [4]. Apart from the primary pollutants such as SO2, NO2,
CO2, CO and soot particles, one can also find heavy metal particles in the air which result from
various industrial processes (Pb, Cd, As, Ni, Zn and other). A number of investigations indicate the
impact of pollutants on the health of people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seasons when people are exposed to hazardous effects of pollutants have a considerable effect on
health of people [16]. SO2 from the atmosphere impacts increase of blood pressure during the winter,
while there is no such effect during the summer [17]. However, the impact of pollutants on blood
pressure is not quite clear, which is confirmed by the results of investigation which are contradictory.
Pollutants do not have a big influence on the increase of death cases of people over 65. With growing
old the impact of pollutants increases [18]. The conncetion between pollutants and death of children
younger than 5 is not statisctically important. Investigations show that pollutants do have an impact on
the health of people of all age, not only on elderly people [19]. Weather conditions have a major role
in the interaction between pollutants, thus, there is certain difference in the obtained results of
investigations conducted at different locations [18]. Pollutants that appear in the air can act separately,
however interactions between them can frequently occur and then they have a more negative impact
on environment and the living world [20]. It is hard to specify the diseases which could be caused by
SO2, and which could be caused by fine sulphate particles which exist in our surrounding and are
created by nucleation of SO2. Sulphate particles with the diameter 2,5 and 10μm have a particularly
negative impact [21]. Gas and particles almost

Prejudice Essay
An African American man is walking in a busy white town. He already feels odd being the only black
person in a busy white crowd. People around him are giving him weird looks and odd face towards his

happens everyday in everyday life to ordinary people because of how they look or where they came

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Prototyping
Another reason is prototyping requires a significant amount of the users or customers time to use the
prototype and provide feedback about the system especially when the developer develops a prototype
that is too complex. The users may be stuck in debates over the details of the prototype due to its
complexity which may halt the development team progress and thus, delaying the final product. This
situation might incur more time and costs which affects their profitability. There are also certain users
that thought the prototype as the finished or final system. They think that a prototype which is
intended to be thrown away is actually a final system that merely needs to be finished or polished.
They are often unaware of the effort needed by the developers to conduct error checking and add
security features which a prototype may not have. This can lead them to expect the prototype to
accurately model the performance of the final system when this is not the intention of the developers.
Users can also become attached to features that were included in a prototype for consideration and
then removed from the specification for a final system. If the users think that all proposed features are

does not need prototyping because the users needs and wants are already known, the technologies and

It was an away game, at Valley Center, we had been doing good the entire night. I played on the

Mrs. Martha Hale is an apologetic, dutiful, and rational character who serves as a defense to justify

Martha is mixed with regret in an apologetic manner for the lack of social outreach. Her first quote I

Along with perfect homemaking skills Mrs. Hale had what we would describe as mild obsessive

cage offered readers a final defense from Martha Hale. After discovery of the rough handling of the

Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin)
2017 WL 01339062
Summary:
The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his
client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the
law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into
force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be
entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form
N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he
had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in
January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he
failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later
date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement.
In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to
the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA
as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also
alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary
Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without
integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence.
Legal issue:
The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty
when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of
integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity
was.
Critical analysis:
The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse of
honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and

It also made production easier, faster, and cheaper since workers made an abundant of products within
a short amount of time. Mass production in factories was possible because of the invention of
machineries, leading to products being made without costing businesses as much money compared to
if the products were hand made. Because products were made in factories, this also caused retail
prices of the products to decrease while there was always accessibility for the supplies. The
establishment of large corporations replaced small businesses, which was good news for the wealthy
but bad news for individuals who owned their own small stores.
On the other hand, because of the establishment of factories by businessmen, the workers lives
became hard as they faced unfair working conditions in dirty and small working places. They worked
long hours with no break. The machines used in factories were also very dangerous and led to workers

child labor became common since it was cheaper to have children working. Instead of earning an

The First World War ( Wwi )
The First World War (WWI) was fought from 1914 to 1918 and the Second World War (or WWII) was
fought from 1939 to 1945. They were the largest military conflicts in human history. Both wars
involved military alliances between different groups of countries.
World War I was centered on Europe. The world warring nations were divided into two groups namely
The Central Powers and The Allied Powers . The central powers group consisted of Germany, Austria
Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria. The Allied powers group consisted of France, Britain, Russia, Italy,
Japan, and (from 1917) the U.S.
World War II, the opposing alliances are now referred to as The Axis and The Allies . The Axis group
consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan. The Allies group consisted of France, Britain, the U.S., the
Soviet Union, and China. World War II was especially heinous because of the genocide of Jewish
people perpetrated by the Nazis.
The causes of World War I were six. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on 28
June 1914, the heir to the throne of Austria Hungary was the trigger for the war. He was killed by
Serbian nationalists. Austria Hungary invaded Serbia. At same time Germany invaded Belgium,
Luxembourg and France. Russia attacked Germany. Several alliances formed over the past decades
were invoked, so within weeks the major powers were at war; as all had colonies, the conflict soon
spread around the world.

My Memories Of My Childhood
Looking back at my childhood, I suppose you could say it was pretty difficult. Even at my happiest, I
was living with a foster family, separated from the rest of my biological relatives. However, I couldn t
complain. I loved them like they were my family that I spent my whole life with. I was a five year old
boy living a happy life. I had grown attached to the family, feeling like I was truly a part of it. Then
one cold November day it all changed. A woman dressed in black came to my home I had grown to

waiting in a room full of toys for a few hours, she came back in and told me it was time to go. She put

Everything seemed to be, until I was fifteen. One September morning while sitting in my English

P.K. Dick’s The Minority Report and Steven Spielberg’s...
P.K. Dick s The Minority Report and Steven Spielberg s The Minority Report
Death can occur in four ways. A person can die from a physical illness, viruses and infections. A
person can die from an accident. A person can commit suicide. Finally a person can be murdered by
another person. What if murders could be prevented? In P.K. Dick s story The Minority Report, and in
Spielberg s film The Minority Report, the future can be altered by using incredible technology. The
success of Spielberg s adaptation of Dick s short story to film can be determined by the way each was
presented.
While giving a tour or precrime to Edward Witwer, the main character John Anderton finds the he is
supposed to kill a person he never met Leopold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Minority Report by Spielberg is about a one man conspiracy to keep pre crime up and running. In
the book by Dick, there is a larger conspiracy to destroy precrime. The final results are opposite as
well; in the book precrime was maintained and still operational. In the movie, precrime was shut down
and destroyed. The methods of precrime are also different. In the book, there are three precogs which
mutter an indecipherable language, which a machine interprets into images of a murder. Then a card
comes out of the machine with the name of the killer and name of the victim on it. Spielberg made a
more modern method out of this. In the movie, images are taken directly from the three precogs brain
and then interpreted by a person who tries to find out the location of the murder. Also there are two
wooden balls made, one with the name of the killer and the other with the name of the victim, on
them. The movie also goes deeper into the creation of precrime, how crack babies whom had an odd
gift/curse of dreaming of murder became used to prevent murder. It also shows why Anderton joined
precrime, to make sure no one else would suffer like he did when he lost his son. The precogs in the
book and movie are very different. First off their names in the book are Donna, Jerry and Mike. In the
movie their names are Agatha, Arthur and Dashiell. The movie also involves the precogs, or at least
one of them, more into the story.

  • 2. The Ancient Greek Of Greek Civilization The ancient Greeks were unique and had a one of a kind culture which would heavily influence the Western world. Their literature would bring forth works that intertwined religious, philosophical, mythological, and political all in one. From the Bronze Age to the Dark Age, the ancient Greeks would be innovators for practices we have become accustomed to, such as philosophy, democracy, literature and even theatricals. During this time, most that had been illuminated had been lost in the Dark Ages, yet thanks to Homer, a Greek writer, some of Greeks lost age was recorded and survived centuries to come. This would leave many Greeks illiterate. (Betts) However, pottery persisted throughout different regions as well as variation burial sites. Identifying and examining these different burial sites, shows how the Greeks would replace Mycenean burial practices. Pottery, a lot like burial practices, would shift and differ as well as time went forth. (Violatti) It wasn t until literature and the formation of a new political institution that the Greek s Dark Ages would come to an end. (Violatti) Since literature was lost, the Greeks relied on oral story telling. (Damrosch 186) Yet, we can thank Homer for his literature contributions to shed light on the Greeks lost age. Not much is known about Homer, yet his literary works and the profound influence it had on Ancient Greek is widely known. Soon after the Greeks adapted and added to the alphabet borrowed from the Phoenicians, Homer s works would be set in writing. (PBS) Homer s poems were not written down until much after he composed them, due to lack of literacy. (Lloyd) Homer s work had a huge impact on Greek culture as well as their education, and influenced cultures to come. (Lloyd) Homer s Iliad, as well as The Odyssey, would set social standards as well as a common set of values. He brought forth the heroism and nobility, and how disgrace and dishonor is the worst that can happen to a hero. He set the tone that good deeds of a man in his life might become immortal. • 3. The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He... The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office. The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that there is more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was very short, he made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would have helped America in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he would have accomplished. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was the only known person who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was in the marines so he had a great deal of skill in handling guns. He wanted to live in Russia, but he could not get his visa. When he lived in Dallas, Texas he openly expressed his views of communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of Kennedy. For less than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located near Daeley Plaza. The theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository and hid the gun there. When the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was found on the barrel on the gun (Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a pistol. He then returned to the Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer approached to question him. He was arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later JFK 5 that he was linked to the assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the accounts of shooting both President Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t want Oswald selling him out if they were accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008). There are witnesses that can testify that they saw a man fire a weapon from the sixth floor of the Depository. Eye witness Howard L. John Locke (1632 1704), Adam Smith and Francois Marie Arouet (1694 1778) were major historical Enlightenment thinkers. Classic liberalism is a political ideology that advocates limited government constitutionalism, rule of law, due process, individual liberties including freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and free markets. The Age of Enlightenment was a cultural movement of intellectuals in Europe and the United States, whose purpose was to reform society and advance knowledge. It promoted science and intellectual interchange and opposed superstition, intolerance and abuses by church and state. European states ended the Thirty Years War with the Peace of Westphalia (1648), which laid the foundations for a system of independent, competing states. • 6. The Military Decision Making Process Essay The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is an analytical and deliberate process that commanders follow using seven steps that includes the receipt of the mission, mission analysis, course of action development, course of action analysis, course of action comparison, course of action approval and orders production. The MDMP gives leaders a thorough process to follow that provides clarity and synchronization for operations even under time constrained environments. We need an Army that is trained on making decisions, able to anticipate needs and able to be proactive in accomplishing tasks even when unexpected duties arise. The MDMP sets the Army up for success in getting to this point. Without the MDMP, leaders will struggle to make crucial decisions and they will certainly struggle to make them under pressure during time sensitive missions. Not just our own history but the history of other countries has shown that running military operations without planning properly can result in inconceivable losses. At the National Defense Executive Reserve Conference on November 14, 1957, Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as stating: I heard long ago in the Army: plans are worthless, but planning is everything. The MDMP is a single, established, and proven analytical process (US Department of the Army, 1997). The process is crucial to our success not just because of the course of action (COA) developed out of it but more so because of what we learn out of the process along the way. ... It is considered a masterpiece and one of the pillars of the dystopian novel. However, both of those affirmations can be called into question. The former based on a subjective opinion of a reader and the latter through compromising its dystopian nature. Similarly to George Orwell s novels, the main appeal of Brave New World is within the ideas it contains, not within its literary merits. Huxley s talent is essentially composed of his ideas and the attitude he assumes towards the problems he presents. Aldous Huxley himself seems to be more concerned with the scientific aspect of Brave New World than with literary techniques and qualities. In a later edition of his novel, he expressed his opinion that: One vast and obvious failure of foresight is immediately apparent, Brave New World contains no reference to nuclear fission. Evidently, he pondered the topic of Brave New World over and over and was not afraid to admit his faults. This utterly scientific approach is illustrated by his formulation of the sequel, Brave New World Revisited. Clearly Huxley must have seen Brave New World as more than just a literary fiction novel, if he was so persistant he felt the need to recapitulate all his ideas after almost thirty years and furthermore, abandon the literary fiction. Having said that, it must be acknowledged that if Brave New World would have been written as a non fiction work, a scientific essay for example, it would have never been able to spread to the extent it did as a novel. That is a motive possibly explaining Huxley s choice of genre. But does someone who does not care about science deserve to enjoy the merits of scientific prognosis? Whether such person does or does not deserve it is controvertible to judge, therefore whether the motive was justifying Huxley s decision or not can be disputed. • 20. Present Themes In The First Day By Edward P. Jones American actress and model, Kristen Stewart, once said, Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are. Kristen Stewart (A Z Quotes). People judge others every single day. Silent eyes beat down on people and negative thoughts seeping into hearts. Everyone does it, but some just are clueless about the impact. This judgment is present in Edward P. Jones The First Day, where a little girl comes to realize that people are judging her and her mother for being who they are, and determining what they are like based on their status. In Jones short story The First Day, the present theme is that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how economically stable they are. This focus is present through the imagery of the little girl and the characterization of the mother. One way Jones shows the theme that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how economically stable they are, is through the imagery of the little girl. It is an African American girl s first day of school, and the mother is getting her all dolled up to make a good impression. I am wearing a checkeredlike blue and green cotton dress, and scattered about these colors are bits of yellow and white and brown. My mother has uncharacteristically spent nearly an hour on my hair that morning, plaiting and replaiting so that now my scalp tingles (Jones 1). The mother really wants to make a good impression on the new school that her daughter is going to, and not look poor or different. When saying that the mother has uncharacteristically done her hair, the mother is going out of her way to do something special. The mother has spent an hour on this girl s hair for her very first day of school, which is not like herself. Thus showing, that the mother really cares about the first impression that the daughter makes at her new school and community, and how they are viewed with their status. The mother is changing the image of her daughter to try and better her off. Ultimately, through imagery, the highlighted theme is that people are judged based on their statuses. The mother in the story also proves that people are judging. Through the use of characterization by Edward P Jones The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Prototyping Another reason is prototyping requires a significant amount of the users or customers time to use the prototype and provide feedback about the system especially when the developer develops a prototype that is too complex. The users may be stuck in debates over the details of the prototype due to its complexity which may halt the development team progress and thus, delaying the final product. This situation might incur more time and costs which affects their profitability. There are also certain users that thought the prototype as the finished or final system. They think that a prototype which is intended to be thrown away is actually a final system that merely needs to be finished or polished. They are often unaware of the effort needed by the developers to conduct error checking and add security features which a prototype may not have. This can lead them to expect the prototype to accurately model the performance of the final system when this is not the intention of the developers. People would ask me all the time what position I played, I had no idea what they were talking about and they were always surprised when I told them that I had never played football, and that I had never planned to. But the older, bigger, and stronger I got and the more encouragement I got, finally I decided to play my sophomore year of highschool. There was one game I will always remember that really kick started my love and passion for the game. It was an away game, at Valley Center, we had been doing good the entire night. I played on the offensive line, left tackle, and was excited to be in the action. We were up the whole game and the fourth quarter was approaching fast, and that was a good thing. • 32. John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case... Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin) 2017 WL 01339062 Summary: The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement. In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence. Legal issue: The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity was. Critical analysis: The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse of honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book, there are three precogs which mutter an indecipherable language, which a machine interprets into images of a murder. Then a card comes out of the machine with the name of the killer and name of the victim on it. Spielberg made a more modern method out of this.
