Marion Blumenthal Lazan
I think Marion Blumenthal Lazan Should get the Medal of Honor for these reasons. First of all Marion
survived the Holocaust at just a young age of thirteen. Second she stayed strong even through the
times that were tough. And final she lived on to tell our generation about her experience for what the
Holocaust was really like. Marion Blumenthal Lazan survived through the Holocaust war at the age of
only thirteen years old. She went through many hard things that nobody should ever go through
especially at that age. She experienced many terrible deaths and fought diseases like. Going through
that at such a young age is just a terrible thing to hear. This makes Marion courageous and
unstoppable. She stayed strong even through the times that were

A Distinct Concepts Of Liberty
Berlin argued that there were two very distinct concepts of liberty competing in the history of political
philosophy. Negative liberty describes the freedom not to be interfered with. It is the common and
common sense understanding of freedom. Liberal societies (small l) try to arrange government to give
individuals the largest sphere of liberty concerning important human values speech, worship, property
and so forth compatible with the maximum liberty of others.
Positive liberty is more complicated and not so common sensical. It is the freedom to do something. It
describes the capacity to exercise liberty, not just the absence of interference. What good is the
freedom to own property, for example, if you have no money? Liberty without capacity, in the positive
conception, is meaningless.
Negative liberty is the first political value among many in the political philosophies in the English
liberal tradition and in the liberal democracies they have shaped. In theocratic societies and in the
European political philosophies of the counter Enlightenment, negative liberty is trivial; their ultimate
political values vary by ideology from salvation to sharia to equality and liberty means having the
conditions and capacity for the right values to flourish. Positive liberty always entails a concept of the
good life; negative liberty assumes there are many good lives.
What gave Berlin s ideas such sway was not the brilliance and novelty of the distinction between

The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay
The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income
urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial
assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through
removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related
to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is
indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are
spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an
aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it
needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it
requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S.,
fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical
in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its
attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and
socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of
schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of

Servant Leadership And President Andrew Jackson As A...
Leadership refers to the act of leading a considerable number of people within an establishment or the
capacity to do this. Leadership has to do with coming up with a vision that is crystal clear and the
ability to spreads that idea out in a manner that makes individuals, given the information, knowledge,
and methods to understand, willing to follow. Subsequently, balancing and coordinating the
conflicting interests of all stakeholders and members. It is typical for any good leader to step up in the
event of a contingency, with the potential to imagine and act creatively in situations that prove to be
difficult. Different from management, leadership can never be taught, in as much as it may be learned
and bettered employing mentoring and coaching (Servant Leadership Based on Robert Greenleaf s
Writings, 2010).
An example of an individual that had outstanding leadership skills is President Andrew Jackson, who,
irrespective of previous letdowns, with persistent innovation and passion did all he could to clinch the
presidential seat and make America a better place. He being categorized among our forefathers, the
first Presidents of the United States, makes him an individual that was not motivated by money or the
like, but one that was driven by a deep feeling to serve Americans for the sake of establishment of
their country (Barbuto Wheeler, 2007). Andrew Jackson was a true servant leader because he operated
within the premise upon which servant leadership is founded upon i.e. There s no greater purpose than
service to others. He stands out from the current world presidents of today because he was never
driven by power, money, and prestige but through service to other people. This paper is going to give
invaluable insights concerning Andrew Jackson s leadership style through the lens of the servant
leader.
Overview
When Americans think about President Andrew Jackson all they can remember is the Strong
Presidency legacy that he left behind. He was very much committed to remaining a Man of the People,

The Gangs in los Angeles California
Executive Summary Security has always been of major concern in many institutions across the world.
This is perhaps because the success of many activities is highly dependent on the security that they
associate themselves with. This report focuses on the gangs in Los Angeles, California. This task in
this region has been mandated upon the Los Angeles Police Department, popularly referred to as the
LAPD. The major stakeholders are the competent and highly qualified staff members within the
department who have the necessary capacity to deal with the violent criminal gangs. The main
problem that is targeted is the eradication of the criminal gangs within the region. This is through the
elimination of illegal firearms, elimination of drive by shootings and enactment of anti graffiti laws
which promote the gang activities. The graffiti have been shown by recent research to portray the gang
territories.
Societal Problems Of great concern is the revelation that up to 37% of households possess firearms,
whether licensed or not. The California Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention (STEP) Act is
aimed at eliminating criminal gang conduct by focusing upon patterns of criminal gang activity and
the organized nature of street gangs. The Penal Code provides that:
1. Participation in a criminal street gang with knowledge that its members engage in criminal activity
is punishable as either a misdemeanor or felony.
2. Conviction for a crime or public offense which was committed

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini s rise
to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal Italian
state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to power were
the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio Rosso , the elite s
support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors contributed to Mussolini
and the fascist s rise to power.
The Biennio Rosso was a vital factor that contributed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the Catholic
Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When Giolitti was in
power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and support the liberal state,
however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he would end up alienating the
other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding of
trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory
for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were
made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry of the
Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini gain
power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a variety
of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy susceptible to
the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in the

Polonius Murder In William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet will not produce Polonius s body when asked because he wants to get under the King s skin
and irritate him. Later, this also confirms to Hamlet that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were still
working for the King, and to provoke Claudius, so he can confide in Horatio. Hamlet gains an
additional reaction of paranoia and indignance from Claudius through disobeying him.
Ophelia s madness helps Claudius to further convince Laertes to kill Hamlet, blaming Ophelia s
madness and suicide on Hamlet s cruel manipulations. In addition, to Polonius murder via Hamlet.
This helps Claudius because he is toying with Laertes emotions and motives to achieve his own goal
of removing Hamlet out of the picture by having someone else kill the prince.
Laertes originally confronts Claudius because he suspects the King was involved in both his father and
sister s death. When he does this, Claudius shifts the blame on Hamlet, which leads the two of them to
plot Hamlet s death in order to avenge Laertes deceased family members.
Claudius encourages Laertes to exact revenge on Hamlet because he is suspicious of Hamlet. He s
aware that Hamlet knows that he killed the former king and is paranoid that Hamlet will take away all

Consequently, Hamlet manages to switch swords from Laertes and ends up stabbing him (with the

Claudius because he is already wary of Claudius s ambitions power and

The Impossibility Of Religious Freedom
The act of defining religion has been a contentious issue in a wide variety of situations, particularly in
the United States. The US is a nation that prides itself on religious inclusivity and freedom. There are
consequences to this belief and tenant. Through the social, legal and moral structures of the United
States, defining religion has become imperative. In The Impossibility of Religious Freedom, Winifred
Sullivan outlines the legal implications of defining religion in the United States. In order for religious
freedom to be protected by the American state, religion must be clearly defined. As a result, religious
theory must be used to maintain some semblance of religious freedom in the United States. Likewise,

While there are specificities of the case that can help determine the individualized outcome of this
particular case, the foundations of the legal problems in the case can be expanded to greater problems
of religious definition in the United States. As shown through The Impossibility of Religious
Freedom, religious theory is vital to the continuation of religious freedom protections, for better or
worse, in the United States. The case that is highlighted by Sullivan revolves around the ability for
citizens to use religious items around burial sites that extend beyond the city of Boca Raton s
regulatory codes. When some of these religious items around the burial sites were not permitted by the
city, a group of citizens sued the city on the grounds that the city was preventing actions protected by
the religious freedom clauses of the US Constitution. This case, like many others involving religious
freedom decisions, required a real definition of religion. Religious theory was imperative to the
outcome of this case. Sullivan writes, If religion was whatever anyone said it was, the statute was
unworkable and [Judge Ryskamp] did not feel it was his place to simply dismiss an act of the Florida
legislature as nonsense. Religion therefore had to be measured and bounded by an expert test...
(Sullivan 105). These tests were determined by various religious scholars, including Sullivan, that
testified in this case. Religious theory,

Neoconservative And Discrimination Against Gays And...
People may not notice little things that others do or say. Something as small as calling someone gay
because they identify themselves as homosexual, could emotionally traumatize them. Examples of
these issues are LGBTQ+ working in a labour intensive employment, and is treated as weak or unfit
for the position, thus being looked down upon. For centuries, people follow the stereotype that people
of a different gender or sexual identity are looked down upon and considered outliers of the society.
Our group will go in depth and demonstrate examples of discrimination against LGBTQ+ in the
workforce, by first analyzing the root of this problem. A few questions that we will evaluating are: if
people dislike LGBTQ+ in the workforce because they are homosexuals, or because they are lacking
in skill, education, experience etc. Second question that ties with the root of the issue is to find out
why majority of people discriminate individuals that identify as LGBTQ+ homosexuals. Lastly, our
group will be explaining different point of views of this issue. We will be using a variety of
frameworks that we have learned in class such as viewing the social problem with a Neoliberal,
Neoconservative and transformative outlook to analyze the social problem. Topics that we can analyze
using these frameworks, include who is at fault or who is to blame within the social problem, how
each framework would try to resolve the social problem, and what are some things that each
framework can do

Communication, The Exchange Of Nonverbal And Interpersonal...
Think Piece #1
To me interpersonal communication describes the exchange of verbal and nonverbal messages
between two different people. Joseph DeVito states that interpersonal communication is inevitable,
irreversible, and unrepeatable due to these things effective communication is a necessary skill for us to
function in our day to day lives (p. 20). Therefore, I have created a theory for interpersonal
communication that goes as follows; To experience effective communication you must understand:
your culture, the other person s culture, and how to listen effectively. By knowing these three things
you can consistently avoid misunderstandings and promote understanding in your interpersonal and
intercultural relationships.
The first point in my theory is that you can better your skills as an interpersonal communicator by
better understanding your own culture. DeVito states that there are. several major cultural distinctions
that are crucial for more effective communication they are: individualism or collectivism, high or low
context, high or low power distance, masculinity or femininity, high or low ambiguity tolerance, long
or short term orientation, and indulgent or (p. 34). To be able to understand your or anyone else s
culture you must be able to understand the ways that these things affect communication. Once you
understand the ways that you are oriented in these seven categories due to enculturation you can
understand how you communicate and become a more effective

1/ For starting a small business with Roberto, I strongly believe our business organization will be

The Importance Of The Easter Vigil
At the Easter Vigil, a blazing fire is prepared... outside the church... on this most sacred night, in
which... [the Catholic Church celebrates the] Lord Jesus Christ[ s passing]... over from death to life.
The fire is then blessed by the priest. After igniting and blessing the Easter fire, one of the [attending]
ministers brings the paschal candle to the priest, who cuts a cross into the candle... Then he makes the
Greek letter Alpha above the cross, the letter Omega below, and the four numerals of the current year
between the arms of the cross. After marking the Christ candle with all the symbols just mentioned,
the priest may insert five grains of incense into the Easter candle in the form of a cross. These two
ritual actions (i.e. the blessing of the fire and the preparation of the Paschal candle) are essential
moments in the Easter Vigil liturgy. This paper will explore why these two ceremonial actions are
significant to the Catholic Church. To fully appreciate why these two actions are so meaningful, it is
necessary to examine four questions. First, what is the historical and symbolic background of these
two actions? Second, how are these two procedures initiatory? Third, what do they teach us about the
initiatory process? Fourth, what do these two ritualistic actions suggest for parish life?
The steps of starting and blessing the Easter fire have a rich historical background within the Catholic
Church. According to the rubrics of The Roman Missal, the fire should be

Dignity is the state or quality of being worthy of honour or respect. If you talk about someone s
condition and joke about it then you are not giving them dignity. Treat everyone as a unique person. If
you laugh or joke around about their condition to their face tor ridicule them this is not giving them
the dignity they deserve. Some people if they are being cared for may feel like they are losing dignity
as they cannot dress or clean themselves. Some nurses make fun of the patient. This can lead to them
losing confidence. If someone does lose confidence then you should still respect them and treat them
with dignity. Some people might get angry if they have someone else washing them as it could be seen

Erasmus And The Renaissance Humanism
Desiderius Erasmus, believed to be the illegitimate son of a Priest named Gerard, was born around
1466 in the Netherlands. He is also believed to have been born with a different name, and his birthday
is unknown because he was born out of wedlock. Despite this, his father made sure he had a good
education by sending him to a prestigious Latin school when he was 9 years old. However, when
Erasmus s parents died, he was sent to live with guardians who strongly believed that he should
become a Monk. During this time, Erasmus gained a personal relationship with God but was opposed
to the strict rules and teachings of the school. Poverty eventually forced Erasmus into a monastery in
1492, where he was ordained a Catholic priest. He then became the secretary for Henry de Bergen, the
bishop of Chambray, which allowed him to travel across Europe for the next ten years to study Latin
and literature. These studies led to his discovery of Renaissance humanism. In the early 1500s, not
long after his travels, Erasmus was invited to lecture in theology at the University of Cambridge and it
was during this time that Erasmus began to publish literature showing his some of his new ideas and
criticisms of society and the church. These ideas started to become well known after he published one
of his early works, Praise of Folly. His ideas stood out from others of the time and sparked debate all
over Europe. These ideas are strikingly similar to those made famous by Martin Luther, however, as

development of a personal relationship with Christ it exists as a present reality and not a future
physical kingdom (Schultz, 2003). The development of this relationship with Christ is a lifelong
process that starts at birth and continues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Schultz, 2003). Parents bear
the primary responsibility for this education in Christ and must be supported by born again teachers
who are also able to teach children the gospel message (Schultz, 2003, p.31). A proper Biblical
Philosophy of Education enables students to be transformed into the image of Christ and be fully
equipped to serve Christ in everyday life (Schultz, 2003, p. 39). The ultimate goal of Kingdom
education is to develop a God centered worldview that empowers learners to think and act according
to God s ways (Schultz, 2003, p. 49). Practicing a Christian Philosophy of education requires that a
teacher s actions are in accord with their words because 95% of the time students will reject the
content and accept the conduct (Schultz, 2003, p. 53). Schultz (2003) provided Biblical

important to note that this principle provide the motivation for the invasion of Iraq by the US as it
extended the meaning of preemptive war to include armed action against `probable and not `imminent

invasion of Afghanistan by the US. Both invasions (Afghanistan and Iraq) were based on preemptive

For the Afghanistan invasion, Operation enduring freedom which initiated after the 9/11 attacks. The
aim of the war was to dismantle Al Qaeda and deny it a safe base for its operations by removing the

However, the activities of the US occupation of Iraq has proven that they may not be answerable to
the UN and this has been used by terrorist organization in justifying their attacks against the West and
its citizens, whose taxes enable their states to engage in war activities. Thus, preemptive war stands as
a double edged sword as it can become a means of nipping terrorist threat in the bud or escalating
terrorist activities in the world, using the rise of ISIS after the Iraqi war as an evidence. In highlighting
the inevitable consequences of preemptive action, former President Bill Clinton said `A preemptive

Divine Command Theory Essay
Discuss the shortcomings of divine command theory as a guide to moral norms.
Divine Command Theory theorizes that God it is the author of moral law and the right actions are
those willed by God and that God clearly defines right and wrong. This allows the concept that
sometimes situations are only right or good because God deems it so. In the simplest terms, God can
determine right and wrong since he is omnipotent. Since God is all powerful, he can establish moral
norms. Critics of Divine Command Theory believe that if a specific action is only right because God
wills it so then evil acts would also be right since God willed them into existence. For example, if God
wills murder or torture than these actions would be considered morally right.
Yet, both believers and unbelievers do not believe this state to be credible. Hitherto, if God wills an
action because it is morally right, then the divine theory must be ... Show more content on

Subjective relativism theorizes that an action is morally right if one approves it. Thus, with the person
s approval, the action immediately becomes morally right. However, this concept has major flaws.
Subjective relativism believes that people are infallible and incapable of having flaws. This implies
that individual in society cannot have a moral disagreement due to the fact the moral principles apply
to everyone in society. In context, this does not allow this theory to allow for tolerance in the moral
views of other individuals. Since the moral principles apply to everyone in society, there is no room
for a different point of view, no matter how small the difference in opinion. Also, since one of the
major concepts of the theory states that people of the society are infallible, there can be no open
discourse on a difference of opinion. Discuss the relationship of psychological egoism to ethical

Computer System Upgrading
Issue:
Due to the rapid technological advances in computer systems as well as operating systems in the
business world, we must upgrade our computer systems throughout our company in order to gain an
edge on our competitors. We need to replace the central processing units in every division of our
company with newer units that are in line with the most sophisticated computer systems also being
used by every one of our competitors.
Background:
The computers currently in question have been in use for approximately 12 months as of November
2011. The computers we currently use are of lower quality and were most likely purchased at a
bargain price. The result of this approach has been a computing system that is quite unreliable. Since
the beginning of the summer of 2012, employees have reported a number of technological setbacks
including:
Malfunctioning audio cards
Inadequate Memory
Failed ventilation.
Malfunctioning power supplies.
Audio card malfunction continues to be an on going problem with the current computer systems in our
company and in many situations our computers are rendered completely useless when the job requires
sound. Failed ventilation also continues to be a huge problem with many, if not all, of the computers
used throughout our company. When computer fans malfunction, it can cause the computer to
overheat and permanently damage it and all of the information in it, which raises a drastic level of
concern due to the fact that we store all of our

In 2012, there were 6,360 new diagnoses of HIV, contributing to a total of 128,805 cases reported by
the end of 2012. Following the identification of AIDS in the UK in the early 1980s, a steady increase
of the number of people were diagnosed with HIV. From 1987 to 1990 the total number of reported
HIV diagnoses almost doubled, from 8,888 to 15,570. HIV/AIDS was initially concentrated among
three high risk groups men who have sex with men (MSM), injecting drug users and people who had
receive blood products. Annual HIV diagnoses increased rapidly till 2004. Much of this rise is because
of infections transmitted via heterosexual sex. Since 2005, the sum of people who picked up HIV
through heterosexual contact has been reduced while new HIV diagnoses among MSM have been
continuously increasing. These two routes of transmission now have similar annual figures. According
to Public Health England (2013) HIV in the United Kingdom: 2013 report , injecting drug use has
played a smaller part in the HIV epidemic in the UK than it has in many other high income countries.
During 2012, a reported 120 people diagnosed with HIV acquired it through this transmission route. In
the initial phases of the UK epidemic few HIV diagnose were of women. Unlike in other parts of the
world, such as sub Saharan Africa, where more women are living with HIV than men, HIV diagnoses
in the UK have persistently been majority male.

Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Issues Essay
Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Issues
HCS 341
April 4, 2011
Abstract
Legal, Safety, and regulatory issues all have a large impact on the human resources process as they
relate to the statement Common sense and compassion in the workplace has been replaced by
litigation. In today s society litigations seem to be an increasing greatly, and administrators do their
best to create human resources processes that avoid any possible litigations on them and or their
organization.
I completely agree with the statement common sense and compassion in the workplace has been
replaced by litigation. There has been an extremely large increase in the number of employees who

Neoliberalism Research Paper
Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country export
$15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note that Saudi
Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal was struck
between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly protects the
royal family. With a past record of consistently mistreating citizens with unpopular views, there is
little guarantee that the arms sale will not be used to violate innocent civilians human rights in the
future. Intriguingly, the current liberal government has declared its unwillingness to suspend the
shipment. This paper explores realist and neo liberal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles with
possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen to
emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains enormously
from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key economies in the
Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is
Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a result of this there is
a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International Trade Canada (ITC). It is
worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a
gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that
they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative
government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to

Lower Body Adaptations For Power Lifting ( Squats )
Lower Body Adaptations to Power Lifting (Squats) Power is arguably the most important attribute for
an athlete. Specifically, it is most important for an athlete participating in a high intensity, anaerobic
sport. Anaerobic power is defined as the rate of energy release by cellular metabolic processes that
function without the involvement of oxygen. (Kenney 212) Having the ability to generate more power
means you will be able to like run faster, change direction quicker, and jump higher. Training for
power will have a much bigger impact on the athletes ability than just training for strength. Power
training will more than likely involve more complicated movements that must be done at a fast pace to
reach maximum results. Power is defined as the rate of performing work, thus the product of force and
velocity. (Kenney 211) Strength on the other hand, is just the maximum force the muscles are able to
produce. For example, if you have two athletes that squat the same weight, they both have the same
amount of strength, however if one of the athletes is able to perform that lift faster than the other, that
athlete has more power. With that being said, it is still important to also train for strength because
gains in power are only possible if you are making gains in strength through resistance training as
well. It is important to focus your training on the muscle groups and movements that are most alike
the type of sport you are playing. In most cases, the core and lower body

The Social Consequences of Communication Technologies Essay
The Social Consequences of Communication Technologies
How many hours have you spent on American Online Instant Messenger when you should have been
studying for prelims? Communications shapes our modern society as well as brings many burdens and
negative aspects along with it. It does not seem like it is even able to help most of the population of a
developing country because most of the people in that country do not have access to modern
communications technologies. Current telecommunications technology has enlarged our social lives
decreasing our productive time, increased the rate of spreading of negative ideals, and amplified our
dependence while diminishing our independence.

The modern technology for telecommunications has made the general public increasingly lazy and
dependent on such things as the Internet, the phone, and Instant messenger. The pre
telecommunications societies had so much more productive time when considering the amount of time
spent on useless modern communications. The more time people spend using the Internet ... the more
they lose contact with their social environment. (Stanford) Of course the telephone and Internet do
sometimes provide useful information; however, compared to the hours spent surfing the web and
socializing, the actual amount of productive time spent is relatively small. Telecommunications
technologies have also made the modern society very lazy. Societies without telecommunications have
constant interactions; their children play with each other, discover and learn together. In the modern,
developed countries, people no longer interact face to face as frequently, the children spend hours
conversing on the phone, chatting on the internet, or just sitting in front of the computer playing video
games. Bringing the world together through a network of wires seems less appealing when
considering what it takes from us.
Ideas are spread much quicker now then ever before because

The Books Of Matthew And 1 Corinthians
Hermeneutical Matthew and 1 Corinthians The books of Matthew and 1 Corinthians are mainly
focused around love and what that is supposed to look like through Christ. Starting with Matthew, it
begins by walking us through the birth of Jesus and all of the events that took place during and after. It
also talks about his baptism and specifically that John the baptist was who performed it. After
everything about Jesus early life is introduced, it jumps straight into his preaching. Chapter four of
Matthew is where it really begins to talk about Jesus work. Not only does it introduce us to his
preaching styles, but it also quickly introduces Satin who seems to follow Jesus around for a while
attempting to cause problems. Matthew chapter four tells you right off the bat what is about to take
place. The first verse says, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the
devil. (NIV Matthew 4:1). At this point, Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, and the first
temptation form the devil was food. He says, ...If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become
bread. (NIV Matthew 4:3). Jesus of course rejects his temptation and the many more that followed.
After these events took place, Jesus leaves to begin his preaching. In doing so, he also chooses his
disciples while walking along the Sea of Galilee. Jesus took his disciples with him through Galilee and
began his preaching there. He healed the sick and suffering, and also performed

She was a writer, a politician and the winner of the Nobel Prize of literature in 1991. Spring, the city
where she was born, was a complex and rigid small mining town where only black Africans worked in
the gold mines, with nothing on their side, and a lot of disadvantages.
Besides, black people didn t have access to all public facilities and services. So, Nadine grew up
watching the inequality o her society between white and black.
Her father Isodore Gordimer was a watchmaker who immigrated from Zagare and her mother Hannah
Gordimer was from London.
Since she was very young, she was influenced by her parents to be interested in economic and racial
injustice in her native country.
She started to a Catholic convent school; however, her mother did not allow her to be out of the house
because she was sick. She was housebound during a big part of her childhood.
As she was alone most of the time, Nadine started writing when she was very young. Her first story

Persuasive Essay On Self Driving
The future of the world is here they are working on making a self driving 18 wheeler. they are trying
to make it to where they re trying to make it safer for people on the road driving near them.
Technology is getting really close to making this a reality. They are planning to have this invention
done and fully tested in every way possible by 2020 2025. They say by then they should definitely
have it fully finished and working perfectly. One of the biggest questions everyone has is safety. How
can a 40 ton self driving 18 wheeler be safe? In 2012, over 330,000 large trucks were involved in
crashes that killed about 4,000 people in the United States. Close to 90% of those were caused by
driver error. Truck drivers are human. We can be tired, stressed, and angry. As of now, the Freightliner
trucks can t handle bad weather. If bad weather rolls in, the Freightliner truck will tell the driver to
take over the driving of the truck. The Freightliner Inspiration still needs to log millions of test miles
before you start seeing them along your long haul routes. While self driving trucks are still a decade
away from mass production, they are closer to reality than you think. At first glance you might think
your job is in jeopardy, but in fact, a self driving or semi autonomous truck is designed to make your
life easier. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. market researchers predict that we might see the first semi
autonomous trucks on the market as soon as 2025. So what does not

  • 3. A Distinct Concepts Of Liberty Berlin argued that there were two very distinct concepts of liberty competing in the history of political philosophy. Negative liberty describes the freedom not to be interfered with. It is the common and common sense understanding of freedom. Liberal societies (small l) try to arrange government to give individuals the largest sphere of liberty concerning important human values speech, worship, property and so forth compatible with the maximum liberty of others. Positive liberty is more complicated and not so common sensical. It is the freedom to do something. It describes the capacity to exercise liberty, not just the absence of interference. What good is the freedom to own property, for example, if you have no money? Liberty without capacity, in the positive conception, is meaningless. Negative liberty is the first political value among many in the political philosophies in the English liberal tradition and in the liberal democracies they have shaped. In theocratic societies and in the European political philosophies of the counter Enlightenment, negative liberty is trivial; their ultimate political values vary by ideology from salvation to sharia to equality and liberty means having the conditions and capacity for the right values to flourish. Positive liberty always entails a concept of the good life; negative liberty assumes there are many good lives. What gave Berlin s ideas such sway was not the brilliance and novelty of the distinction between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S., fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Gangs in los Angeles California Executive Summary Security has always been of major concern in many institutions across the world. This is perhaps because the success of many activities is highly dependent on the security that they associate themselves with. This report focuses on the gangs in Los Angeles, California. This task in this region has been mandated upon the Los Angeles Police Department, popularly referred to as the LAPD. The major stakeholders are the competent and highly qualified staff members within the department who have the necessary capacity to deal with the violent criminal gangs. The main problem that is targeted is the eradication of the criminal gangs within the region. This is through the elimination of illegal firearms, elimination of drive by shootings and enactment of anti graffiti laws which promote the gang activities. The graffiti have been shown by recent research to portray the gang territories. Societal Problems Of great concern is the revelation that up to 37% of households possess firearms, whether licensed or not. The California Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention (STEP) Act is aimed at eliminating criminal gang conduct by focusing upon patterns of criminal gang activity and the organized nature of street gangs. The Penal Code provides that: 1. Participation in a criminal street gang with knowledge that its members engage in criminal activity is punishable as either a misdemeanor or felony. 2. Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the Catholic Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he would end up alienating the other. During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of socialism. The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini gain power due to his anti communist beliefs. As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a variety of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy susceptible to the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power. Later, this also confirms to Hamlet that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were still working for the King, and to provoke Claudius, so he can confide in Horatio. The US is a nation that prides itself on religious inclusivity and freedom. There are consequences to this belief and tenant. Through the social, legal and moral structures of the United States, defining religion has become imperative. In The Impossibility of Religious Freedom, Winifred Sullivan outlines the legal implications of defining religion in the United States. In order for religious freedom to be protected by the American state, religion must be clearly defined. While there are specificities of the case that can help determine the individualized outcome of this particular case, the foundations of the legal problems in the case can be expanded to greater problems of religious definition in the United States. As shown through The Impossibility of Religious Freedom, religious theory is vital to the continuation of religious freedom protections, for better or worse, in the United States. The case that is highlighted by Sullivan revolves around the ability for citizens to use religious items around burial sites that extend beyond the city of Boca Raton s regulatory codes. When some of these religious items around the burial sites were not permitted by the city, a group of citizens sued the city on the grounds that the city was preventing actions protected by the religious freedom clauses of the US Constitution. This case, like many others involving religious freedom decisions, required a real definition of religion. Religious theory was imperative to the outcome of this case. Sullivan writes, If religion was whatever anyone said it was, the statute was unworkable and [Judge Ryskamp] did not feel it was his place to simply dismiss an act of the Florida legislature as nonsense. Religion therefore had to be measured and bounded by an expert test... (Sullivan 105). These tests were determined by various religious scholars, including Sullivan, that testified in this case. • 15. Neoconservative And Discrimination Against Gays And... People may not notice little things that others do or say. Something as small as calling someone gay because they identify themselves as homosexual, could emotionally traumatize them. Examples of these issues are LGBTQ+ working in a labour intensive employment, and is treated as weak or unfit for the position, thus being looked down upon. For centuries, people follow the stereotype that people of a different gender or sexual identity are looked down upon and considered outliers of the society. Our group will go in depth and demonstrate examples of discrimination against LGBTQ+ in the workforce, by first analyzing the root of this problem. A few questions that we will evaluating are: if people dislike LGBTQ+ in the workforce because they are homosexuals, or because they are lacking in skill, education, experience etc. Second question that ties with the root of the issue is to find out why majority of people discriminate individuals that identify as LGBTQ+ homosexuals. Lastly, our group will be explaining different point of views of this issue. We will be using a variety of frameworks that we have learned in class such as viewing the social problem with a Neoliberal, Neoconservative and transformative outlook to analyze the social problem. Topics that we can analyze using these frameworks, include who is at fault or who is to blame within the social problem, how each framework would try to resolve the social problem, and what are some things that each framework can do ... • 16. Communication, The Exchange Of Nonverbal And Interpersonal... Think Piece #1 To me interpersonal communication describes the exchange of verbal and nonverbal messages between two different people. Joseph DeVito states that interpersonal communication is inevitable, irreversible, and unrepeatable due to these things effective communication is a necessary skill for us to function in our day to day lives (p. 20). Therefore, I have created a theory for interpersonal communication that goes as follows; To experience effective communication you must understand: your culture, the other person s culture, and how to listen effectively. By knowing these three things you can consistently avoid misunderstandings and promote understanding in your interpersonal and intercultural relationships. The first point in my theory is that you can better your skills as an interpersonal communicator by better understanding your own culture. DeVito states that there are. several major cultural distinctions that are crucial for more effective communication they are: individualism or collectivism, high or low context, high or low power distance, masculinity or femininity, high or low ambiguity tolerance, long or short term orientation, and indulgent or (p. 34). To be able to understand your or anyone else s culture you must be able to understand the ways that these things affect communication. Once you understand the ways that you are oriented in these seven categories due to enculturation you can understand how you communicate and become a more effective ... These two ritual actions (i.e. the blessing of the fire and the preparation of the Paschal candle) are essential moments in the Easter Vigil liturgy. This paper will explore why these two ceremonial actions are significant to the Catholic Church. To fully appreciate why these two actions are so meaningful, it is necessary to examine four questions. First, what is the historical and symbolic background of these two actions? Second, how are these two procedures initiatory? Third, what do they teach us about the initiatory process? Fourth, what do these two ritualistic actions suggest for parish life? The steps of starting and blessing the Easter fire have a rich historical background within the Catholic Church. According to the rubrics of The Roman Missal, the fire should be ... • 21. Erasmus And The Renaissance Humanism Desiderius Erasmus, believed to be the illegitimate son of a Priest named Gerard, was born around 1466 in the Netherlands. He is also believed to have been born with a different name, and his birthday is unknown because he was born out of wedlock. Despite this, his father made sure he had a good education by sending him to a prestigious Latin school when he was 9 years old. However, when Erasmus s parents died, he was sent to live with guardians who strongly believed that he should become a Monk. During this time, Erasmus gained a personal relationship with God but was opposed to the strict rules and teachings of the school. Poverty eventually forced Erasmus into a monastery in 1492, where he was ordained a Catholic priest. He then became the secretary for Henry de Bergen, the bishop of Chambray, which allowed him to travel across Europe for the next ten years to study Latin and literature. These studies led to his discovery of Renaissance humanism. In the early 1500s, not long after his travels, Erasmus was invited to lecture in theology at the University of Cambridge and it was during this time that Erasmus began to publish literature showing his some of his new ideas and criticisms of society and the church. These ideas started to become well known after he published one of his early works, Praise of Folly. His ideas stood out from others of the time and sparked debate all over Europe. • 22. Christian Philosophy Of Education, Evangelism, And... According to Schultz (2003) a Kingdom focused education must be built on the following four points: Jesus Christ, A Biblical Philosophy of Education, Evangelism, and Discipleship. The most appropriate place for Kingdom education to start is in the family where children are taught that only salvation in Christ can perfect a person (Schultz, 2003, p.19). Because Kingdom education is rooted in development of a personal relationship with Christ it exists as a present reality and not a future physical kingdom (Schultz, 2003). The development of this relationship with Christ is a lifelong process that starts at birth and continues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Schultz, 2003). Parents bear the primary responsibility for this education in Christ and must be supported by born again teachers who are also able to teach children the gospel message (Schultz, 2003, p.31). A proper Biblical Philosophy of Education enables students to be transformed into the image of Christ and be fully equipped to serve Christ in everyday life (Schultz, 2003, p. 39). The ultimate goal of Kingdom education is to develop a God centered worldview that empowers learners to think and act according to God s ways (Schultz, 2003, p. 49). Practicing a Christian Philosophy of education requires that a teacher s actions are in accord with their words because 95% of the time students will reject the content and accept the conduct (Schultz, 2003, p. 53). Divine Command Theory theorizes that God it is the author of moral law and the right actions are those willed by God and that God clearly defines right and wrong. This allows the concept that sometimes situations are only right or good because God deems it so. In the simplest terms, God can determine right and wrong since he is omnipotent. Since God is all powerful, he can establish moral norms. Critics of Divine Command Theory believe that if a specific action is only right because God wills it so then evil acts would also be right since God willed them into existence. For example, if God wills murder or torture than these actions would be considered morally right. Yet, both believers and unbelievers do not believe this state to be credible. Specifically, it is most important for an athlete participating in a high intensity, anaerobic sport. Anaerobic power is defined as the rate of energy release by cellular metabolic processes that function without the involvement of oxygen. (Kenney 212) Having the ability to generate more power means you will be able to like run faster, change direction quicker, and jump higher. Training for power will have a much bigger impact on the athletes ability than just training for strength. Power training will more than likely involve more complicated movements that must be done at a fast pace to reach maximum results. Power is defined as the rate of performing work, thus the product of force and velocity. (Kenney 211) Strength on the other hand, is just the maximum force the muscles are able to produce. For example, if you have two athletes that squat the same weight, they both have the same amount of strength, however if one of the athletes is able to perform that lift faster than the other, that athlete has more power. With that being said, it is still important to also train for strength because gains in power are only possible if you are making gains in strength through resistance training as well.
