The Impact of Soil Erosion and Land Degradation in Ethiopia
Introduction
African soils are extremely poor by nature, they consist of low organic matter as well as all major
nutrients. Sub Saharan Africa does not produce enough food to support their countries even in years of
good harvest. Land degradation is exhibited as deforestation, decreasing biodiversity resources, soil
moisture stress as well as soil erosion.
The following report will be assessing the socio economic as well as the environmental impacts of soil
erosion and land degradation impacts in the Ethopian Highlands of Tigray. The severe land
degradation is a result of the soil erosion as well as the nutrient depletion. Throughout the past years
soil and water conservation techniques have been comprehensively introduced. The prolonged use of
these resources was not as anticipated.
The poor performance of agriculture in many low income countries is due to the deterioration of the
natural resource base. The major problem which limiting the development of the agricultural sector is
the land degradation which is caused by soil erosion as well as nutrient depletion. This is an
enormously serious problem especially in the tropical steep lands where rain fed agriculture comprises
the major livelihoods of the people. A number of these countries have numerous soil and water
conservation programs which have tried to mitigate the land degradation problem but have done so
unsuccessfully.
In Ethiopia agriculture comprises the biggest share of the national economy; it contributes

Compare And Contrast A Streetcar Named Desire Movie And Movie
Elia Kazan s film, A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) was adapted from the play originally written by
Tennessee Williams. This film won multiple Oscars and countless other awards that prove it to be an
extremely impressive work for its time. The setting of this film sets the stage, the themes and
symbolism add interest, and the characterization only enhances an already impressive work. These
elements and many more are what make up this incredible film.
This film is set in the 1940 s in the bustling city of New Orleans. A majority of the scenes take place
within the walls of the Kowalski s two room home. The size of the home is something that Blanche
comments on right away and it adds tension to many scenes throughout the film. The constant
quarrelling between the characters often make the house feel even smaller than it is. It offered little
privacy, with only a curtain to divide the rooms, and the characters often went back and forth between
the rooms quickly, sometimes several times in one scene. The setting is much like one that would be
used for a play. It was very two dimensional and only offered a straight on view. The upstairs home
that belonged to Steve and Eunice played an important role at two specific points in the movie.
Though it was directly above the Kowalski s, it often goes without mention. When it was
acknowledged, it was often used as a shelter. Stella and Blanche ran up the stairs after the fight in the
poker game scene, and though Stella returned downstairs

Miley And Greed
Many see greed as one of the world s purest forms of evil, it is even one of the seven deadly sins.
However, greed may have a place in our society that not many people have considered. For example,
being greed many helps companies grow into huge brands. Many companies that use greed to grow
donate to good charities ? Greed could also lead to something beautiful, and that is ambition. While
companies that are successful and have generous business practices are great, they usually don t make
as much money as the big name companies and most of the big name companies are in fact greedy.
For example, McDonald s, the ninth most valuable brand in the world, sold unhealthy pink meat
between the years 2004 to 2011 so they could save money and not have to spend money on real meat.
This unhealthy meat is 80% fat and 20% meat and contains harmful pathogens. McDonald s even
exploits children through the use of marketing ,from 1979 to today they continue exploit children for
financial gains by putting toys in their Happy Meals to keep them coming back for more. However,
while these business practices are dishonest they do work and it helped Mcdonald s grow from an

However, if nurtured greed can become something that many people admire, ambition. Miley Cyrus a
celebrity who was driven by greed and used shock value for fame and fortune has had a change of
heart in recent years. She went from a celebrity driven by greed to being named the fourth most
charitable celebrity in the United States in 2014. She has donated $500,000 to Aids in 2015 and in
2016 she is helping with a Toys for Tots charity drive. She turned her greed in ambition and with that
ambition she chose to help people in need and that is inspiring. Overall is greed good?Honestly I don t
believe greed is a good thing at all. However, I can seem some are tempted by it.Greed can bring you

Atlantic Hawksbill Turtle-Personal Narrative
Yummy! I was enjoying a lovely sponge dinner when my best friend JJ swam into my coral reef home.
He excitedly said Alex there are a ton of Jellyfish right by the huge water cliff! Now most turtles
would just say cool and keep on going with their day, but I love JELLYFISH! Sorry, let me introduce
myself. I am Alexandra, the Atlantic Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata.) But my friends call
me Alex. JJ says it will take a long time to reach the jellies, so we better get going. As we swim, let me
give you some information about me and JJ. We ll start with our moms. Female turtles lay about 140
eggs at a time. They lay eggs between July and October. To do this they swim up to a beach in Puerto

If we are in deep waters we stay near the surface. We live in warm tropical waters in the Atlantic,
Indian, and Pacific oceans. We mostly eat sponges, anemones, squid, shrimp, and of course, jellyfish!
Now here comes the best part...how we look! We have a narrow head and a sharp beak with a brown
face. Our carapace is amber colored and has spots of red black, yellow, and brown. Our plaston is
mostly amber colored. We have dark flippers. Wow! I ve talked so much about us that we ve made it
to the jellies already.
Mmmmmmmm! Those jellyfish look so good after a long swim. I m just about to eat one when a old
looking turtle swims up behind us and bellows STOP! We are so frightened that we turn as quick as
lightning. The old turtle says Those are not jellyfish. That is human waste. He then tells us how
dangerous humans are. They throw too much trash in here. They put all types of chemicals and oils in
here that pollute our water. They also kill us for our shells and meat. I have heard this speech a
hundred times. But then he says something I have never heard before. He tells us how humans can
help. They should reduce the amount of trash they use and recycle more, cut down on chemicals, turn

Essay On Tata Nano
The following project lays down the marketing strategy of a small size car, Tata Nano. It begins with
introducing the car, the beginning of it s manufacturing. And then it goes on to describe why Ratan
Tata s dream project couldn t realize the huge expectations that were laid upon it. It further mentions
market analysis of India s Automotive industry, segmentation of the huge market and the appropriate
target segment selected for the product. It then entails how the product is to be positions in the minds
of the target audience and how that goal can be achieved; finally ending with the conclusion of the
report.

further up the economic ladder, as well as similar image issues. And, due to lack of funds, they re
cautious, sensible buyers who d rather not be fobbed off with a poor man s car, or trade their family s

Safety issues in the beginning not addressed well. In the beginning the Nano has suffered a lot of
drawbacks other than its image which was lack of proper safety features and it not being a safe car for
the people, even though a lot has changed in the newly realised Nano at an additional cost it was too
late for the company to cover up its loss and by then the Indian customers have found a better

Critically engage with Hannah Arendts Humanistic approach to political action.
This essay will be split into two parts. The first will be concerned with critically engaging
poststructuralist and postmodernist rejections of humanism highlighted by Stuart Sim, with notions of
a humanism put forward by Timothy Brannan that place importance on the shared universal attributes
shared by every human. I will to this with the aim of placing Arendt s humanism with the latter. For
the second half of this essay I will develop a focused analysis on Arendt s conception of political
action critically engaging this with concerns raised by Dan Stone regarding Arendt s potential
ethnocentricity. I will do this with the aim of displaying an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Corporate Social Responsibility Audit On The Nasdaq Stock...
The publicly traded company I chose to perform a corporate social responsibility audit on is a
company that produces PCs, software, and other services Microsoft, also known as MSFT on the
NASDAQ stock exchange. Microsoft started small, with Bill Gates and Paul Allen as the founders.
While Microsoft started off in Albuquerque, the men later moved the company; Microsoft s
headquarters is now located in Redmond, Va., on a road named after the company, Microsoft Way.
Microsoft is defined as a multinational company, this means that Microsoft carries out business in
more than two countries, in fact, Microsoft has offices in over 200 countries. A typical user would

One of the four corporate social responsibilities that Microsoft has to keep in balance with the others
is maximizing profits for shareholders. Microsoft does this by constantly improving their products,
which in turn raises the price of that stock; a rise in stock price is beneficial to stockholders. Microsoft
improves their products often, they typically come out with a new version of Windows office every
couple years, as is the same with Microsoft Windows operating system. Another way Microsoft keeps
its shareholders happy is by continually paying out more and more money through dividends in
November of every year. While Microsoft treats their shareholders very well in terms of dividend
payments, their generosity doesn t end there. Microsoft has a program where they buy back shares
from their shareholders. Essentially, they are giving their shareholders cash for a piece of the company
that has an outstanding balance. Just how much money has Microsoft paid out to their shareholders for
these outstanding shares? A large $73 billion since 2010. This is a great way to keep the company s
shareholders happy, by ensuring the shareholders do not suffer a loss if the price of the stock
plummets. When Microsoft is decreasing the number of shares, their shareholders are gaining from
this once again; when Microsoft s income increases, so does the pockets of the shareholders, because
they will be getting even more profit. Personally, I think Microsoft is doing an

Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol
In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous
perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true
nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human
vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature.
While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police
chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs,
and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a
romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and
sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of
absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No
normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them.
Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been
disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational
mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the
narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation

High School Career
Throughout my high school career, I ve endured history class after history class; however, I am no

math. So, my brain prefers to think in terms of numerics and there I sat in AP World and US history
classes, learning what seemed to me as silly, trivial facts about history, until a particular subject
grasped my attention: the evolution of technology and the unfathomable thoughts of inventors. From

what is inevitable into preventable; stem cells have proven to be an option to prevent unnecessary,
sorrowful events. A step further, the way to benefit people in rare circumstances is through
personalised treatment and care that can only be made possible with 3D printing. Bertalan MeskĂł

Person Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy...
Carl Roger s believed that everyone is inherently good. Therefore, even the vilest of people would be
included. Some disputes have been made among behavior theorists that because the theory lacks
structure, it is not as effective in treating illness. However, it is one of the main theories utilized by
therapists today. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is another popular theory that is used. It emphasizes
the present and fixing cognitive distortions that clients may have. However, it too received some
arguments against it, such as; treating symptoms and not the underlying cause of an illness. The

He also believed that the need for defense mechanisms stems from childhood (Rogers, 1962).
Children are taught conditional positive regard. When parents need to correct a child s behavior, love
is usually withheld. They are taught to hide faults and weaknesses rather than accepting them.
However, through unconditional positive regard individuals may know that they are loved
unconditionally. By acceptance I mean a warm regard for him as a person of unconditional self worth
of value no matter what his condition, his behavior, or his feelings (Rogers, 1961). Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses maladaptive thinking and feelings in individuals. It was
originally developed to treat depression and anxiety but is now used for many different disorders. It is
a very effective type of therapy because it is time limited. The amount of sessions is usually between
four and fourteen. CBT focuses on schemas or core beliefs which are usually negative thoughts like I
m worthless or I m not loveable (Beck, 1970).
In order to treat cognitive distortions the negative thoughts need to be addressed. First, the individual
needs to recognize idiosyncratic cognitions . Next, they will need to distance themselves in order to be
objective. Lastly, they may correct cognitive distortions and deficiencies by identifying what type of
faulty thinking they may engage in The different types of faulty thinking are; arbitrary inference,

Romeo And Juliet Comparison
Analysis of Setting in Luhrman s Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William
Shakespeare about two young lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their families. It was one of
Shakespeare s most popular plays. Baz Luhrman made a film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet based on
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet s film adaptation was intended for teenagers and
old target audiences because teenagers are interested in seeing Leonardo Di Caprio act as Romeo and
because they fantasize in having that sort of relationship that Romeo and Juliet have. Adult audiences
would watch the film as a memory of the story in a film and additionally because they like
Shakespeare. To begin with, the newsreader scene uses setting ... Show more content on

Luhrman uses dramatic music to make us more focused and make a dramatic atmosphere. He wants us
to feel excited as we watch the movie. He chooses the right scenes to apply the music. At the films
opening, the camera glides very slowly toward a television screen. The camera almost appears to enter
the television screen and quickly moves through shots of Verona and the characters. On each character
it freezes for a moment and displays his or her name, before moving through more shots of Verona. As
well as shots of the characters and Verona the audience is also shown famous parts of the Prologue to
Romeo and Juliet such as From ancient grudge break to new mutiny. This makes the film relevant for
a young audience because it would hold the audiences attention and would show a variety of elements
to the film, such as the location, characters and cast and the basic story line. The use of camera work
retains the original plays ideas because the original play started with a prologue, which gave the
audience an outline of the story. Shakespeare s original prologue contained the words in fair Verona;

The Trial Scene And Anatomy Of A Murder
Criminal law provides procedural rules in governing the criminal justice system s operation. In films,
the trial scenes rarely give an accurate depiction of the court process. The writers and producers make
the crime movies more dramatic as a technique to draw in the audience. The trial scene tends to be the
climax in crime films, which gives it more depth and meaning. The 1959 movie Anatomy of a Murder
follows a murder trial of a defendant who murdered a man that allegedly raped his wife. The movie s
plot is primarily focused on the entire trial of this case. While the 1988 movie The Accused, discusses
a case involving a women who was gang raped at a local bar. It portrayed this as a very serious offense
that ended up destroying the life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was not the only film that had illustrated the criminal justice system. In the well known movie
The Accused, the judicial system is presented in an accurate manner. The film insinuated that since
Sarah Tobias, played by Jodie Foster, was dressed provocatively and she likes to have fun. It then
made the implication that she was looking for it, which is exactly what the opposing attorney argued.
In reality, these are the type of questions or implications that typically come up in rape cases. The plea
deals made in between the prosecutor and defense attorneys is something that happens a lot in the
criminal justice system (cite movie). Typically, in reality the prosecutor will first consult with the
victim before offering a plea deal. In the movie, that was something that was not by the prosecutor
Kathryn Murray, played by Kelly McGillis, which brought injustice to the victim. In this movie, the
audience first hand witnessed how this type of trauma can have a profound affect on the victim. There
are many negative effects that can result such as depression or anxiety (cite academic journal, p.389).
The movie showed how the victim was impacted in a mental and emotional type of way. This movie
shows that there are ways to bring forth the accused so that justice can prevail. The criteria for
describing crime films can have various definitions.

Soccer Descriptive Essay
As I put my black and gold jersey on, I thought of the outcome of tonight s game. Either the Penguins
come out as champions, or they are forced to game 7. I walked downstairs to put my shoes on, and I
saw my brother with his black and teal jersey on. We headed to the car. My mom was already annoyed
by how much my brother and I were fighting over who would win the intense game. Finally, after a
couple of minutes, we journeyed to the big game. After a long ride, we finally entered the streets of
Pittsburgh. We sensed the excitement and tense atmosphere of the city. Everybody crawled the streets
getting ready for the big game. When waited in line, it seemed like the whole city tried to rush in. The
line took about 45 minutes, but it seemed like hours. Finally, as we went through security, we were
dogs released from a cage. From the time we found our seats until the beginning of the game, more
and more people filled the massive arena. Many people filled the seats up like sardines. When
everybody arrived to my favorite place, we all waited for 8 o clock, the start of the game. By the time
8 o clock came around the crowd already filled with excitement. When it was time for the national
anthem, everybody quieted down in order to respect the flag that represents everything that allows us
to be in that moment. The whole arena stood in silence as the red, white, and blue banner flew over.
When the words, the home of the brave filled the air, everybody started to scream again.

styles were. Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching style and
classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a combination of
several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each student has particular needs for the
classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as a facilitator first and
foremost, followed by a formal authority figure, personal model, and delegator. According to Grasha,
a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of student teacher
interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they encourage
independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student independence is
the ultimate goal. I do not want to be the sole source of knowledge in the classroom. Every student has
something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual needs, I still possess qualities of a
more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s analysis of a formal authority figure;
formal authority figures are concerned with establishing learning goals, expectations, and rules of
conduct for students (143). Students need some consistency and expectations for how to operate in a
classroom environment. If this is not provided, there will be chaos. My teaching style includes

Merchandising is explained as the activities having to do with the right merchandise at the right price,
at the right quantities, at the right time, and in the right place with the right hands. The transfer of
goods between consumers and producers is defined as marketing. When these elements are focused on
major motion movie pictures, movie producer companies will be able to promote any kind of themed
product with a unique connection to the movie. The center of the marketing effort on movies relies on
the success of the movie. This essay will focus on the Star Wars franchise, the Harry Potter franchise
and the MCU(Marvel Studios) franchise and how each franchise profits from its products.

The MCU has had success ever since their first film Iron Man debuted in 2008. The popularity of
MCU has grown after the release of many films and will probably continue to grow for a while. Even
the Hasbro toy line has been a great success in the toy industry since 2009 with over 50 waves of toys
produced. The profit continues to grow after the company, Disney bought and claimed right to Marvel.
New toy lines have been developed to connect and promote their Disney Infinity video game. Even so,
the demand for Marvel clothing has also increased after the popularity of the Marvel films. Many
online stores such as Amazon and Collector Corps have made successful gains from selling and
shipping Marvel tees, shirts and other types of clothing. The popularity is increased even more by the
popular graphic clothing that seems to be in fashion for the young teens. Even comic books, the
inspiration for the films have increased in popularity. People watch the films and gets interested with
the content within the film. Although when the film ends, so does the content, and the viewer must
wait for the next film to debut. However, comic books provide the content that the movie was based
on. Some books even base its plot and characters from the film. People get interested in the comics
because of how successful the film was. Making an increase in profit of physical and online copies of

Self Esteem And Self Diversity
Community is a congregation of human beings where they share the same symbols and experiences as
well as language (Grady, 1994). Individuals, objects and spaces are all tied into one by the community.
Community does not depend on a certain location or area, it depends on the unity of the individuals
who live there (Grady, 1994). The community provides familiarity with daily interactions among
individuals and creates a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging in a community provides the
comfort and safety required to discover and utilize one s gifts (Grady, 1994). The foundation of self
esteem and self acceptance starts with a sense of belonging in the community (Grady, 1994). When an
individual has a sense of belonging within the community, they feel included. Inclusion is allowing all
individuals to participate in natural environments regarding their differences (Grady, 1994). Feeling
included in the community is important, especially to those who have a disability. The health
profession, occupational therapy, strives for inclusion in the community for people who have
disabilities and those who do not. The sense of belonging is important to an individual s self esteem,
specifically those who have a disability, and is used in the health field of occupational therapy.
The community creates a numerous amount of opportunities for an individual to be included in its
rituals and traditions. Therefore, inclusion into the community is very significant for an individual s

Shifting Women s Views By Harriet Martineau And Dorothy...
Shifting Women s Views Although we see many shifts taking place in Britain between the Romantic
and Victorian periods, such as the abolishment of slavery, the discoveries by astronomers and
biologists, as well as this being at the highest point of development as a world power (1017).
Throughout the Romantic and Victorian periods of British history, we also witness the emergence of
an inner consciousness of women, which denounced those accepted by society at the time. This is
illustrated through observing the parallels and contrasts within the writings of Harriet Martineau and
Dorothy Wordsworth. The inner reflections of these women writers not only rejects the Angel in the
House ideal placed upon women, which is found in The Paragon by , but also contradicts those
illustrated in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. One can also see that the new emerging
consciousness of women was a reflection of the social unrest during these time periods. During the
Romantic period, England was experiencing the ordeal of change from a primarily agricultural society,
where wealth and power had been concentrated in the landholding aristocracy, to a modern industrial
nation (5). Because of these shifts, times were exceedingly difficult for country people, many were
displaced from their small family farms, and women had fewer options to support themselves without
husbands. We also see these realities reflected in the prose of Dorothy Wordworth s journals. There are

Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement Essay
African American people have come a long way from the illiterate slaves, who were once picking
cotton in fields, to powerful political leaders. A prime example would be President Barack Obama, the

did this occur? Who lead African Americans to better living standards? Civil rights leaders, such as
Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and Rosa Parks, just to name a few. However, among these great

Masses of German troops shifted from the east to the west. It became evident that, with Germany on
the rise to power, American intervention was needed on behalf of the Allies. President Wilson clung to
neutrality, but the Bolshevik Revolution but a strain on the American people to intervene in order to

Allies waited for aid. America s mobilization for war demanded extreme sacrifice of the American

Textual Analysis Weekend
From the beginning to the end of the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring
Beyoncé (2015), the audience is shown a multiple array of colours and authentic sounds, from
traditional bells, to Chris Martin s angelic voice. However, the video also portrays prolific visuals of
the Indian culture. On one hand, viewers suggest it over generalizes the representation of an Indian
culture as it screens the false realties of race and ethics. On the other hand, there are those who suggest
it shows the appreciation of the culture. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology
Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the
Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness
between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In
this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as
artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry.
Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the
social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to
an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian
festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially
plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a
real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real
Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the
video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status
between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness
is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two
groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking
familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance,
Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to
their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in

Women Access Information On Legal Abortions
Literature review
In an ultra Catholic country, how do Irish women access information on legal abortions in the wake of
the Miss X case in 1992?
Introduction
In this literature review I will aim to provide an insight into how women in 21st century Ireland get
access to information on safe, legal abortions in other EU member states. It is a review on previous
literature that assesses the situations and circumstances that led to information on travel and abortion
services becoming accessible to Irish women from 1995 in an amendment to the eighth amendment
section 40.3.3 as a result of X v. Attorney General (1992).
In this paper, I will aim to discuss the history of abortion services, and access to information from the
early 1980 s through to the current social movement in Ireland Repeal the 8th , and how this relates to
the overall literature review topic of The Spectatorship of Suffering . The first section of this review
contains of an outline of Ireland s constitutionally engrained protection of foetal rights and the way in
which this was upset with the Supreme Court s decision in the Miss X case (1992), because the Court
adopted the language of proper candidates for abortions. The second part aims to outline how
government efforts to reach a balance between pro life and pro choice beliefs and the uncertainty this
created in the legal status of abortion in Ireland. I will also hope to show how the judicial analysis of

The Issue Of The Green Movement
This has to be one of the most important issues of the current times because life as we know it will
never be the same if something isn t done. The problem is that we as humans are naturally selfish, so
we think that we aren t the problem. But the truth is we are, mostly to due with our greediness. We
over consume as a whole, we waste too much, we feel entitled and better than others, the list goes on
and on. The fact of the matter is that there is no need for us to be all of this. We should feel content
with what we are given and be sure that all are given the same. The green movement, isn t just a social
issue, it is a moral issue. One that we all need to partake in. This is relevant because the research
shows how much we have altered with our planet and it s not good (Enzler). The data includes things
like the shrinking of the polar caps, the rising of the sea levels, the dramatic warming of the Earth s
temperature, the increase of carbon in the atmosphere etc.. As journalist for the Washington Post
Chelsea Harvey explains, The most alarming statistic has to be the rising of the sea levels which are
expected to rise to 0.6 meters globally by the year 2100 (1). Harvey is saying how a rise this severe
could be catastrophic for all countries. A rise in sea levels this high will lead to major flooding in
coastal areas and cause massive water damage to cities. Coastal cities are some of the largest
population centers in the world, and the rising sea levels will cause

Persuasive Essay On Eugenics
A lot of people have not heard of Eugenics because of the dark past in the history of not only the
United States but also across Europe. What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s
they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people
were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in
which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is
because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often.
Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the
word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled
breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while
Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and
then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. The Supreme Court put a law
in place called, Buck V. Bell, which supported the obligatory sterilization of people that would be seen
as unfit in our society. This law was put in place in the year of 1927 and was reprimanded in 1942.
Although in some places it still goes on today illegally. The science of Eugenics was not based on
personality but rather on physical and mental traits.
They made assumptions rather

In this experiment we used two techniques for the reactions of enolate ions with carbonyl groups. One
technique used was Doebner reaction and the other technique used was Claisen Schmidt reaction.
Therefore the aim of this experiment is to synthesize trans p methoxycinnamic acid and to synthesize

Reader Response And Literary Criticism In The Film Slumdog...
In order to begin my presentation one much understand what literary criticism is. Literary criticism is
the description and/or evaluation of a text. The meaning of a text derives from thinking critically,
analysing different aspects of the text, essentially thinking in more than one perspective. In this
presentation I will be discussing the perspectives of reader response and sociological criticism, in the
film Slumdog Millionaire. Reader response criticism considers the role of the reader as essential to
interpret the meaning of the text. In Slumdog Millionaire, the reader s response is based on the themes
in the film. Such themes as economic injustice, corruption, romance and destiny. The experiences and

change the current position in India and how Australia can support said change. My personal relation
to the film has changed my perspective in my attitude towards certain aspects of Indian life. I am more
compassionate towards the situation in which most Indians in Mumbai live in as not all circumstances
are in their control, regarding to the social structure of Indian society. My response to the film through
reader response, forms a sense of vulnerability to my beliefs and morals. Disturbed by the themes in

There are few cases with why the Guam has ended in the shortage of the water. The first reason is
because the Guam is located near to the equator, which makes the humidity very high leading to the
evaporation of the water into the air. The climate of Guam is average 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the
highest temperature ever recorded was 96 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning that Guam is very hot island
enough to evaporate the water. The second reason is the wastes created by the humans. According to

Pros And Cons Of School Shootings
School shootings are terrifying and a big problem in today s society. Schools have added lockdown
drills, bullet proof glass and metal detectors. School should be a safe area for children to learn instead
of fearing for their life. Instead of buying metal detectors and hiring more officers, there is a much
easier solution in order to decrease and prevent school shootings. We have to be more alert about
securing weapons at home and being aware of suspicious behavior at school in order to keep children
and faculty safe. As a child left for school one morning, his parents thought that he had been acting
very odd and different. Even with their suspicion, they said goodbye and let their son go to school.
It wasn t till later when they had noticed an empty spot in their gun case where a pistol and shotgun
used to sit. They rushed to the school and while searching through the halls for their son, their ears
echoed with a gunshot from one of the classrooms. Following the gunshot, they rushed into the
classroom and immediately disarmed and physically detained their son until police arrived. The only
damages the son had caused, was a plate sized hole in the ceiling. If the parents had gotten to the
school even one minute later, their son could have been labeled as a murderer.
It is sickening to know that a child was able to sneak past his parents, teachers, and students with two
firearms on his body. His parents were lucky they arrived when they did because many of people
could have been hurt or even worse murdered. Obviously, the child that brought the two firearms to
school should be the one punished, but what about the parents. The parents that did not have a weapon
that could easily end someone s life, properly locked up or hidden away. If parents are going to
carelessly leave firearms unlocked with ammo nearby, what is stopping a child from doing wrong with
that firearm? Leaving firearms unlocked with any aged child around, hoping they don t touch it is a
dangerous and irresponsible act.
When school shootings occur, the individual that brings the weapon to school should be the one
punished. However, when the parents irresponsibly leave a firearm unlocked they should face a
punishment as well. 68% of school

and Charles Albert the King of Piedmont Sardinia. However, their hopes and resulting revolutions
were crushed due to many concerning factors. A crushing factor of the failure of the revolutions was
the trouncing of the Piedmontese army at both the battles of Novara and Custoza. These defeats were
resounding as the Piedmontese army had no chance against the might of the super power that was the
Austrian army. The Piedmontese army met the forces of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radetsky s army was not just huge but well led, organised and well equipped. Under such
authoritative and commanding leadership the Piedmontese army was soon defeated. Radetsky s army
in addition also crushed the revolts in Venice and Tuscany (who had declared themselves as republics)
and who had previously resisted Austrian siege warfare until February 1849. However, it was not just
the power of Austria and it s army which contributed to the failures of the revolutions, but the
revolutionaries also contributed to their own downfall. Despite wanting change in Italy, there were
numerous divisions between the revolutionaries such as the liberals and nationalists having different
aims and incompetence in the face of Austria. Such divisions not only affected morale but had
physical impacts such as in the battle of Custoza where the Papal States and Naples withdrew their
troops in favour of their own interests. Furthermore, the divisions between the revolutionaries were
accentuated when the Roman Republic was declared in favour of the Pope being the leader of the
Papal States. The previous Pope, Pius IX had fled to Naples after not being able to declare war on a
fellow Catholic state and continued to work with a constitutional government until his flight from
Rome. The republic was led by Mazzini who took care of all political issues and provided inspiration
whilst Garibaldi was in charge of

The Conflict Between Military Life And Civilian Life
For many decades now, many brave men and women have joined the military in order to serve the
country and protect the rights that are entitled to the American populace. However, when they return
back to the states, some soldiers are not able to the cope between the drastic differences between
military life and civilian life; as a result, they can be homeless veterans living on the streets. The
average citizens consider these veterans as just bums and consider them through the mindset of out of
sight, out of mind . Meanwhile, municipalities are acting no better as they enact rules that discriminate
against the homeless, including laws prohibiting public loitering, panhandling, and squatting. It
appears that the public and the government clearly do not do much in terms of helping those that may
need assistance, especially former soldiers that fought to protect them. While there are several factors
that can affect servicemen into becoming homeless, the knowledge of the factors can be utilized
appropriately by the citizens and officials to properly treat these heroes and return them to housed,
civilized lives instead of just shunning them. Back in 2007, the National Law Center on Homelessness
and Poverty reported that roughly 3.5 million people are likely to be homeless in a given year and the
National Coalition for the Homeless in 2009 states that between one fifth and one fourth of all
homeless people are veterans. Besides the numbers gathered by the above organizations,

Mary And Olaudah Equiano
Many people go through unimaginable cruelty. In Mary Rowlandson A Narrative of Captivity , she
was taken by Indians that took her to captivity. In Olaudah Equiano The Interesting Narrative of the
Life of Olaudah Equiano , he explains how he was captured and his journey on the slave ship. Both
Mary and Equiano both experience loss, hardship, and cruelty. Throughout both stories Mary and
Equiano experienced terrible loss. Both of them lost family members. I must and lie down by my dead
babe (Rowlandson 38). The author explains how she went through the sad experience of watching her
child die. In addition, Mary s babe departed of lack of food and care, and she was about six years old
and five months. Just as Mary lost her babe, Equiano lost his sister. My sister and I were then
separated while we lay clasped in each other arms (Equiano 56). Equiano was a slave that got
separated from his only family and that was his sister. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paraphilia
Sex illustrates as, either of the two major forms of individuals that occur in many species and that are
distinguished respectively as female or male especially on the basis of their reproductive organs and
structures. (Merriam Webster). Sex plays an essential role in human behavior, for illustration, it can
lower blood pressure, relieves stress and it could help you sleep better, but there is a corruptive side to
this action. Paraphilia is defining as a psychosexual disorder in which sexual gratification is obtained
through practices or fantasies involving a bizarre, deviant, or highly unusual source of sexual arousal
such as an animal or an object. Merriam Webster) Such as, necrophilia, being attracted to corpses,

Keren is a necrophiliac, she used to work in a morgue. Instead of delivering the bodies to the cemetery
she decided to have fun with the corpse and later she was caught by police. Inside the casket, police
found a four and a half letter confessing what Karen has done with forty dead men. In the letter she
also states Why do I do it? Why? Why? Fear of love, relationships. No romance ever hurt like this ... It
s the pits. I m a morgue rat. This is my rat hole, perhaps my grave. (Morton) She was interviewed and
asked question to her, why did she do it, what did you do with the corpse, what are you attracted the
most and when did she started doing it. Karen did get fired from the morgue. She answered everything
she was asked with great detail. She was sentenced eleven days in jail, a two hundred dollars fine and
two years of probation with medical treatment. Karen states that she had a fear of love. She developed
necrophilia because of fear. Fear is a very strong emotion that can stop a person from doing what they

The Rights Of Women During The World Is Treated The Same,...
To start off, the very broad term of equality is the notion that every human being in the world is
treated the same, no matter their age, gender, class, or race. Comparing to other political systems,
democracy values equality more than any other as it involves the commitment in upholding equal
treatments between citizens. To measure the level of democracy in a territory in terms of associational
autonomy, one must observe the level of equality that is promoted in that country. Looking at any
state, minorities are primarily the ones discriminated against by their government and citizens. In
Tunisia, the minorities are women and as a result they were secluded in economic, political, and social
affairs. The period of time when women were mostly segregated in Tunisia was when the state was
under the possession of France. Women living in Tunisia during this period were mainly housewives
as they did not have much access to education and were required to wear veils in public. However,
once Tunisia received its independence in 1956 from France, the Personal Status Code was created by
the republic government which provided females several legal rights such as the right to divorce, the
right to receive an education, and the right to obtain an occupation. As the laws were implemented
over the years, women activists noticed that the legislation was too elusive and did not properly
outline the terms for equality. Due to this, women experienced discrimination in several areas such as

Thin Red Line Argumentative Essay
The most fundamental and prominent component of the soundtrack is undoubtedly the dialogue. The
dialogue aligns the screenplay and scenes while complementing the screenplay, score, cinematography
and story line. With out the dialogue this would have been a jumbled so so movie.
The end scene affirms this. Through out the movie you hear a narrative of intimate thoughts and
dialogue from key and characters. This narrative keeps the film in alignment and on track for the
ending. At the end you see a young red head man leaning contemplatively at the edge of ship leaving
the island watching other ships and land crafts approach the island attentively. Private First Class
recites Where is it that we were together? Who were you that l lived with? Walked with? The brother.
The friend. Darkness from light. Strife from love. Are they the workings of one mind? The features of
the same face? Oh, my soul, let me be in you now. Look out through my eyes. Look out at the things
you made. All things shining. This statement correlates and makes parallel in a real time, real life time
(movie character but relative to actual life and people) chronological order. The statement finishes and

So needless to say (in my opinion) Hans Zimmer does excellent work however for Thin Red Line I
feel he did ok work. The score was generic to a war themed movie, such as We Were Soldiers, Saving
Private Ryan and Red Tails. While Thin Red Line s score was definitely better then Red Tails it was no
where close to the awesome composition to the work I know Hans Zimmer to do. The music does not
over power or under estimate any scenes, it seems to do just enough. However the score does melt
well with the cinematography but it doesn t enlighten or provide a spectacular arrangement with it

Breastfeeding Should Be Allowed In Public
Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding helps
babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic
conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is easy
for an infant s stomach to digest. Also, breastfeeding helps the infant and the mother to bond and it can
help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy. However,
breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced to use the
public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in public, why
shouldn t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the bathroom?
Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right to breastfeed
her babies in public, and women s breast is created to nurture babies. People argue breastfeeding in
public is indecent exposure and unconformable to those who are watching a mother nursing a child.
Breastfeeding in public shouldn t bother other people because it is unrealistic to expect mothers to
feed their babies in places like bathrooms.

Captives And Voyagers Analysis
In Captives and Voyagers, Alexander X. Byrd argues that the three movements of black migrants,
whether free or enslaved, to Sierra Leone and Jamaica comprised of a cultural and social
transformation unique to black migrant society, catalyzed not only by the prime transatlantic journeys
of each group, but also by their preceding multi leveled passages leading up to their voyage and
settlement. Byrd further exemplifies the notion that the African diaspora in black migration to Sierra
Leone and Jamaica inescapably intertwined with the British empire. The violent, arduous, and
dehumanizing passage of captives from the hinterland to the Biafran littoral alienated the slaves from
their former culture and home. Prevalent in the interior, deracination deprived the enslaved of their
own identities which led, more often than not, to the formation of kinship between captives; ties of
which were rooted in the common struggle of enslavement. Byrd alludes to these ties by stating that
captives were in a state of marginality, their old senses of place, self, and identification enfeebled and
new ones yet to be fully determined (Byrd 26). Such need for a unique identification of a marginalized
group of people led to many identifying as Igbo. Byrd goes on to claim that life on the ship further
fueled the process of becoming Igbo. In his own words, the slave ship was a forcing house of social
change (Byrd 56). The deprivation, violence, morbidity, and high mortality rates experienced in

The Beauty of the Verse in Goethe s Faust
Translation Variance Goethe s Faust, written in loose poetic verse, is a classic work delving into the
concepts of loss and redemption and human nature. Goethe s elegant diction and obvious mastery of
the manipulation of language bring to light the story of a man struggling with his humanity. His
unassuming approach makes the tale seem inspiring rather than didactic. Translators across the globe
fail to understand the true intentions of Goethe s work they desperately cling to the rhyme scheme of
the play and ignore the beauty of language. These writers strip away the glory of art in their rigid
translations, making a watered down, sterilized version of the tale in order to remain true to the form
of the original verse, something Goethe obviously did not intend to focus on; his rhyme schemes vary
through the book, following no discernable pattern except for the occasional repetition of an abccbd or
ababc form. He allows the diction to tell his story while intermittently taking advantage of a rhyme
scheme to enhance the story. Translators do not seem to grasp this, clinging to stringent, archaic ideas
that a translation must be patterned similar to the original work, but need not retain the style, voice, or
intentions of the original author. In the original telling of the tragedy, Doctor Faust is a well educated
man versed in many subjects, but he cannot accept his limited knowledge of creation as a human
being. He suffers until he sells his soul to an agent of the

  • 2. The Impact of Soil Erosion and Land Degradation in Ethiopia Introduction African soils are extremely poor by nature, they consist of low organic matter as well as all major nutrients. Sub Saharan Africa does not produce enough food to support their countries even in years of good harvest. Land degradation is exhibited as deforestation, decreasing biodiversity resources, soil moisture stress as well as soil erosion. The following report will be assessing the socio economic as well as the environmental impacts of soil erosion and land degradation impacts in the Ethopian Highlands of Tigray. The severe land degradation is a result of the soil erosion as well as the nutrient depletion. Throughout the past years soil and water conservation techniques have been comprehensively introduced. The prolonged use of these resources was not as anticipated. The poor performance of agriculture in many low income countries is due to the deterioration of the natural resource base. The major problem which limiting the development of the agricultural sector is the land degradation which is caused by soil erosion as well as nutrient depletion. This is an enormously serious problem especially in the tropical steep lands where rain fed agriculture comprises the major livelihoods of the people. A number of these countries have numerous soil and water conservation programs which have tried to mitigate the land degradation problem but have done so unsuccessfully. In Ethiopia agriculture comprises the biggest share of the national economy; it contributes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Compare And Contrast A Streetcar Named Desire Movie And Movie Elia Kazan s film, A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) was adapted from the play originally written by Tennessee Williams. This film won multiple Oscars and countless other awards that prove it to be an extremely impressive work for its time. The setting of this film sets the stage, the themes and symbolism add interest, and the characterization only enhances an already impressive work. These elements and many more are what make up this incredible film. This film is set in the 1940 s in the bustling city of New Orleans. A majority of the scenes take place within the walls of the Kowalski s two room home. The size of the home is something that Blanche comments on right away and it adds tension to many scenes throughout the film. The constant quarrelling between the characters often make the house feel even smaller than it is. It offered little privacy, with only a curtain to divide the rooms, and the characters often went back and forth between the rooms quickly, sometimes several times in one scene. The setting is much like one that would be used for a play. It was very two dimensional and only offered a straight on view. The upstairs home that belonged to Steve and Eunice played an important role at two specific points in the movie. Though it was directly above the Kowalski s, it often goes without mention. When it was acknowledged, it was often used as a shelter. Stella and Blanche ran up the stairs after the fight in the poker game scene, and though Stella returned downstairs ... However, greed may have a place in our society that not many people have considered. For example, being greed many helps companies grow into huge brands. Many companies that use greed to grow donate to good charities ? Greed could also lead to something beautiful, and that is ambition. While companies that are successful and have generous business practices are great, they usually don t make as much money as the big name companies and most of the big name companies are in fact greedy. For example, McDonald s, the ninth most valuable brand in the world, sold unhealthy pink meat between the years 2004 to 2011 so they could save money and not have to spend money on real meat. This unhealthy meat is 80% fat and 20% meat and contains harmful pathogens. McDonald s even exploits children through the use of marketing ,from 1979 to today they continue exploit children for financial gains by putting toys in their Happy Meals to keep them coming back for more. Microsoft does this by constantly improving their products, which in turn raises the price of that stock; a rise in stock price is beneficial to stockholders. Microsoft improves their products often, they typically come out with a new version of Windows office every couple years, as is the same with Microsoft Windows operating system. Another way Microsoft keeps its shareholders happy is by continually paying out more and more money through dividends in November of every year. While Microsoft treats their shareholders very well in terms of dividend payments, their generosity doesn t end there. Microsoft has a program where they buy back shares from their shareholders. Essentially, they are giving their shareholders cash for a piece of the company that has an outstanding balance. Just how much money has Microsoft paid out to their shareholders for these outstanding shares? A large $73 billion since 2010. This is a great way to keep the company s shareholders happy, by ensuring the shareholders do not suffer a loss if the price of the stock plummets. • 11. Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature. While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs, and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them. Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. However, through unconditional positive regard individuals may know that they are loved unconditionally. By acceptance I mean a warm regard for him as a person of unconditional self worth of value no matter what his condition, his behavior, or his feelings (Rogers, 1961). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses maladaptive thinking and feelings in individuals. It was originally developed to treat depression and anxiety but is now used for many different disorders. It is a very effective type of therapy because it is time limited. The amount of sessions is usually between four and fourteen. CBT focuses on schemas or core beliefs which are usually negative thoughts like I m worthless or I m not loveable (Beck, 1970). The 1959 movie Anatomy of a Murder follows a murder trial of a defendant who murdered a man that allegedly raped his wife. The movie s plot is primarily focused on the entire trial of this case. While the 1988 movie The Accused, discusses a case involving a women who was gang raped at a local bar. It portrayed this as a very serious offense that ended up destroying the life ... In the well known movie The Accused, the judicial system is presented in an accurate manner. The film insinuated that since Sarah Tobias, played by Jodie Foster, was dressed provocatively and she likes to have fun. It then made the implication that she was looking for it, which is exactly what the opposing attorney argued. In reality, these are the type of questions or implications that typically come up in rape cases. The plea deals made in between the prosecutor and defense attorneys is something that happens a lot in the criminal justice system (cite movie). Typically, in reality the prosecutor will first consult with the victim before offering a plea deal. In the movie, that was something that was not by the prosecutor Kathryn Murray, played by Kelly McGillis, which brought injustice to the victim. In this movie, the audience first hand witnessed how this type of trauma can have a profound affect on the victim. There are many negative effects that can result such as depression or anxiety (cite academic journal, p.389). The movie showed how the victim was impacted in a mental and emotional type of way. • 20. Soccer Descriptive Essay As I put my black and gold jersey on, I thought of the outcome of tonight s game. Either the Penguins come out as champions, or they are forced to game 7. I walked downstairs to put my shoes on, and I saw my brother with his black and teal jersey on. We headed to the car. My mom was already annoyed by how much my brother and I were fighting over who would win the intense game. Finally, after a couple of minutes, we journeyed to the big game. After a long ride, we finally entered the streets of Pittsburgh. We sensed the excitement and tense atmosphere of the city. Everybody crawled the streets getting ready for the big game. When waited in line, it seemed like the whole city tried to rush in. The line took about 45 minutes, but it seemed like hours. Finally, as we went through security, we were dogs released from a cage. From the time we found our seats until the beginning of the game, more and more people filled the massive arena. Many people filled the seats up like sardines. When everybody arrived to my favorite place, we all waited for 8 o clock, the start of the game. By the time 8 o clock came around the crowd already filled with excitement. When it was time for the national anthem, everybody quieted down in order to respect the flag that represents everything that allows us to be in that moment. The whole arena stood in silence as the red, white, and blue banner flew over. When the words, the home of the brave filled the air, everybody started to scream again. ... Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching style and classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a combination of several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each student has particular needs for the classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as a facilitator first and foremost, followed by a formal authority figure, personal model, and delegator. According to Grasha, a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of student teacher interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they encourage independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student independence is the ultimate goal. I do not want to be the sole source of knowledge in the classroom. Every student has something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual needs, I still possess qualities of a more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s analysis of a formal authority figure; formal authority figures are concerned with establishing learning goals, expectations, and rules of conduct for students (143). Students need some consistency and expectations for how to operate in a classroom environment. If this is not provided, there will be chaos. My teaching style includes ... Throughout the Romantic and Victorian periods of British history, we also witness the emergence of an inner consciousness of women, which denounced those accepted by society at the time. This is illustrated through observing the parallels and contrasts within the writings of Harriet Martineau and Dorothy Wordsworth. The inner reflections of these women writers not only rejects the Angel in the House ideal placed upon women, which is found in The Paragon by , but also contradicts those illustrated in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. One can also see that the new emerging consciousness of women was a reflection of the social unrest during these time periods. During the Romantic period, England was experiencing the ordeal of change from a primarily agricultural society, where wealth and power had been concentrated in the landholding aristocracy, to a modern industrial nation (5). Because of these shifts, times were exceedingly difficult for country people, many were displaced from their small family farms, and women had fewer options to support themselves without husbands. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring BeyoncĂ© uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry. Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance, Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in ... What does it mean to have a perfect world? Back in the 1920s they had an idea to create a world that only included a certain idea of whom the best type of people were. This may sound like an interesting idea but the price of our own human decency was taken in which human life did not mean the same for everyone. Most people are unaware of what Eugenics is because it is not a proud point in the United States, so it does not get taught or talked about very often. Eugenics started in the late 1800 s. A man named, Sir Francis Galton was the first person to use the word eugenics. The word eugenics means, the science of improving a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics. (Eugenics) For a while Eugenics was just an idea of how to perfect the human population. The ideas were put into books and then analyzed scientifically, but in a way that was biased and unreliable. The Supreme Court put a law in place called, Buck V. Bell, which supported the obligatory sterilization of people that would be seen as unfit in our society. • 41. Pros And Cons Of School Shootings School shootings are terrifying and a big problem in today s society. Schools have added lockdown drills, bullet proof glass and metal detectors. School should be a safe area for children to learn instead of fearing for their life. Instead of buying metal detectors and hiring more officers, there is a much easier solution in order to decrease and prevent school shootings. We have to be more alert about securing weapons at home and being aware of suspicious behavior at school in order to keep children and faculty safe. As a child left for school one morning, his parents thought that he had been acting very odd and different. Even with their suspicion, they said goodbye and let their son go to school. It wasn t till later when they had noticed an empty spot in their gun case where a pistol and shotgun used to sit. They rushed to the school and while searching through the halls for their son, their ears echoed with a gunshot from one of the classrooms. Following the gunshot, they rushed into the classroom and immediately disarmed and physically detained their son until police arrived. The only damages the son had caused, was a plate sized hole in the ceiling. If the parents had gotten to the school even one minute later, their son could have been labeled as a murderer. It is sickening to know that a child was able to sneak past his parents, teachers, and students with two firearms on his body. His parents were lucky they arrived when they did because many of people could have been hurt or even worse murdered. Obviously, the child that brought the two firearms to school should be the one punished, but what about the parents. The parents that did not have a weapon that could easily end someone s life, properly locked up or hidden away. If parents are going to carelessly leave firearms unlocked with ammo nearby, what is stopping a child from doing wrong with that firearm? Leaving firearms unlocked with any aged child around, hoping they don t touch it is a dangerous and irresponsible act. When school shootings occur, the individual that brings the weapon to school should be the one punished. However, when the parents irresponsibly leave a firearm unlocked they should face a punishment as well. 68% of school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Reasons for the failure of 1848- 1849 revolutions in... The revolutionaries in Italy had longstanding grievances, some were nationalists and some were liberals. Despite all having different ideas and aims they all resoundingly agreed that Italy needed change. The hopes of the various revolutionary groups had been raised by the election of Pope Pius and Charles Albert the King of Piedmont Sardinia. However, their hopes and resulting revolutions were crushed due to many concerning factors. A crushing factor of the failure of the revolutions was the trouncing of the Piedmontese army at both the battles of Novara and Custoza. These defeats were resounding as the Piedmontese army had no chance against the might of the super power that was the Austrian army. The Piedmontese army met the forces of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Radetsky s army was not just huge but well led, organised and well equipped. Under such authoritative and commanding leadership the Piedmontese army was soon defeated. Radetsky s army in addition also crushed the revolts in Venice and Tuscany (who had declared themselves as republics) and who had previously resisted Austrian siege warfare until February 1849. However, it was not just the power of Austria and it s army which contributed to the failures of the revolutions, but the revolutionaries also contributed to their own downfall. Despite wanting change in Italy, there were numerous divisions between the revolutionaries such as the liberals and nationalists having different aims and incompetence in the face of Austria. Such divisions not only affected morale but had physical impacts such as in the battle of Custoza where the Papal States and Naples withdrew their troops in favour of their own interests. Furthermore, the divisions between the revolutionaries were accentuated when the Roman Republic was declared in favour of the Pope being the leader of the Papal States. The previous Pope, Pius IX had fled to Naples after not being able to declare war on a fellow Catholic state and continued to work with a constitutional government until his flight from Rome. • 43. The Conflict Between Military Life And Civilian Life For many decades now, many brave men and women have joined the military in order to serve the country and protect the rights that are entitled to the American populace. However, when they return back to the states, some soldiers are not able to the cope between the drastic differences between military life and civilian life; as a result, they can be homeless veterans living on the streets. The average citizens consider these veterans as just bums and consider them through the mindset of out of sight, out of mind . Meanwhile, municipalities are acting no better as they enact rules that discriminate against the homeless, including laws prohibiting public loitering, panhandling, and squatting. It appears that the public and the government clearly do not do much in terms of helping those that may need assistance, especially former soldiers that fought to protect them. While there are several factors that can affect servicemen into becoming homeless, the knowledge of the factors can be utilized appropriately by the citizens and officials to properly treat these heroes and return them to housed, civilized lives instead of just shunning them. Back in 2007, the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty reported that roughly 3.5 million people are likely to be homeless in a given year and the National Coalition for the Homeless in 2009 states that between one fifth and one fourth of all homeless people are veterans. • 48. The Rights Of Women During The World Is Treated The Same,... To start off, the very broad term of equality is the notion that every human being in the world is treated the same, no matter their age, gender, class, or race. Comparing to other political systems, democracy values equality more than any other as it involves the commitment in upholding equal treatments between citizens. To measure the level of democracy in a territory in terms of associational autonomy, one must observe the level of equality that is promoted in that country. Looking at any state, minorities are primarily the ones discriminated against by their government and citizens. In Tunisia, the minorities are women and as a result they were secluded in economic, political, and social affairs. The period of time when women were mostly segregated in Tunisia was when the state was under the possession of France. Women living in Tunisia during this period were mainly housewives as they did not have much access to education and were required to wear veils in public. However, once Tunisia received its independence in 1956 from France, the Personal Status Code was created by the republic government which provided females several legal rights such as the right to divorce, the right to receive an education, and the right to obtain an occupation. As the laws were implemented over the years, women activists noticed that the legislation was too elusive and did not properly outline the terms for equality. Due to this, women experienced discrimination in several areas such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dialogue aligns the screenplay and scenes while complementing the screenplay, score, cinematography and story line. With out the dialogue this would have been a jumbled so so movie. • 50. Breastfeeding Should Be Allowed In Public Breastfeeding is natural and breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. Breastfeeding helps babies to fight infections, prevent allergies and diarrhea, and protects against several chronic conditions, breast milk contains antibodies that help infants fight off viruses and bacteria, and is easy for an infant s stomach to digest. Also, breastfeeding helps the infant and the mother to bond and it can help the mothers to lose extra calories fast, which they gained during pregnancy. However, breastfeeding in public tends to be controversial, and breastfeeding mothers are forced to use the public bathroom to feed their babies. If anyone of us can have our lunch or dinner in public, why shouldn t a breastfed baby has the same rights? And who wants to have lunch in the bathroom? Women should breastfeed anywhere except in the bathroom. women have a legal right to breastfeed her babies in public, and women s breast is created to nurture babies. • 51. Captives And Voyagers Analysis In Captives and Voyagers, Alexander X. Byrd argues that the three movements of black migrants, whether free or enslaved, to Sierra Leone and Jamaica comprised of a cultural and social transformation unique to black migrant society, catalyzed not only by the prime transatlantic journeys of each group, but also by their preceding multi leveled passages leading up to their voyage and settlement. Byrd further exemplifies the notion that the African diaspora in black migration to Sierra Leone and Jamaica inescapably intertwined with the British empire. The violent, arduous, and dehumanizing passage of captives from the hinterland to the Biafran littoral alienated the slaves from their former culture and home. Prevalent in the interior, deracination deprived the enslaved of their own identities which led, more often than not, to the formation of kinship between captives; ties of which were rooted in the common struggle of enslavement. Byrd alludes to these ties by stating that captives were in a state of marginality, their old senses of place, self, and identification enfeebled and new ones yet to be fully determined (Byrd 26). Such need for a unique identification of a marginalized group of people led to many identifying as Igbo. Byrd goes on to claim that life on the ship further fueled the process of becoming Igbo. In his own words, the slave ship was a forcing house of social change (Byrd 56). The deprivation, violence, morbidity, and high mortality rates experienced in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Beauty of the Verse in Goethe s Faust Translation Variance Goethe s Faust, written in loose poetic verse, is a classic work delving into the concepts of loss and redemption and human nature. Goethe s elegant diction and obvious mastery of the manipulation of language bring to light the story of a man struggling with his humanity. His unassuming approach makes the tale seem inspiring rather than didactic. Translators across the globe fail to understand the true intentions of Goethe s work they desperately cling to the rhyme scheme of the play and ignore the beauty of language. These writers strip away the glory of art in their rigid translations, making a watered down, sterilized version of the tale in order to remain true to the form of the original verse, something Goethe obviously did not intend to focus on; his rhyme schemes vary through the book, following no discernable pattern except for the occasional repetition of an abccbd or ababc form. He allows the diction to tell his story while intermittently taking advantage of a rhyme scheme to enhance the story. Translators do not seem to grasp this, clinging to stringent, archaic ideas that a translation must be patterned similar to the original work, but need not retain the style, voice, or intentions of the original author. In the original telling of the tragedy, Doctor Faust is a well educated man versed in many subjects, but he cannot accept his limited knowledge of creation as a human being. He suffers until he sells his soul to an agent of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
