Politics and history through an alternative path to self rule
Lagaan (2001), through the setting of Hindi cinema and the popular appeal of cricket, charts an
alternative history of India, from the colonised past of 1893 to an ideal post colonial future. Using
elements of pop culture, the director Ashutosh Gowarikar transforms the singularity of Champaneer s
struggle against triple lagaan, into a microcosm of an Indian nation s ideal path toward self rule.
Notably, this self rule is ideologically centred ex ante on Gandhi s vision of self sufficient village
units, as mentioned in Hind Swaraj . In doing so, Gowarikar is able to (a) tell the historical tale of
colonial rule and oppression in India, and (b) through dealing with Champaneer s internal struggles
toward becoming a self sufficient village unit, highlight current thorny issues of Indian politics.
Gowarikar uses the popularity of cricket in India as a catalyst for a nationalistic struggle. Although the
wager is based on the amelioration of economic conditions for Champaneer (namely triple lagaan
versus no lagaan), the bet transforms into a struggle for independence and self rule through the
medium of cricket. To the audience, cricket gives this marginalised, hitherto unknown village a
(notably non violent) medium with which they can resist colonial oppression. While the villagers fight
for the right to pay no tax for three years, the audience is invited to interpret

Baylor University Admission Essay
From starting kindergarten to approaching to my graduation date, college has always been in my
mind. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of attending a university that will help me achieve my
goals and become the person I am destined to be. As I gradually become older, I searched for schools
that will satisfy my expectations. I began to discover what I want from a university; a place that can
help me succeed socially and academically, and help me determine who I am. I came across Baylor
University and discovered that this university is where I belong. With this college, I know I can
receive many benefits and even contribute my ideas. By attending Baylor University, I have

It would be an honor to be of the few Nevadan students at the school for me. When researching Baylor
University, I discovered so many factors that influence my decision to attend there. One major factor
is the fact that Baylor University has smaller class ratios and the professors genuinely care about their
students which is a factor most universities lack. I want to expand my academic knowledge and obtain
excellent education opportunities. Another reason of mine is that there is school spirit and a sense of
tradition among the students. I grew up in a small town where our school culture and spirit is
incredibly popular. When I go off to college, I want to have the same experience again. My third and
the final reason is that I want to be part of a university that is rapidly growing and expanding. Baylor
University is slowly gaining national recognition. The University is also undergoing a more selective
acceptance rate which shows that the University is determined to accept students who are hard
workers and committed to Baylor. If I am accepted into Baylor University, it would be such an honor.
Although attending Baylor University would be extremely beneficial to me, there are so many
contributions that I can make to the

What Is The Relationship Between Interaction And Identity
This section contains only a summary of Chapter 7 on The Kinship, Interaction and Identity from the
book The Baba of Melaka: Culture Identity of a Chinese Peranakan community in Malaysia written by
Tan Chee Beng which was published in 1988. The author s main purpose for writing this chapter is to
identify in what ways is the Peranakan Chinese kinship system built based on the concept of social
interaction between Baba and the non Baba Chinese as well as other ethnic groups, especially amongst
the Malays and the experience of interaction with others (Chee Beng, 1988, p. 198).
Within this chapter, the author suggested that the nature of intra ethnic and interethnic interaction built
its self identification. Baba in Bukit Rambai closely interact among themselves as they encounter each
other on a daily basis to play a card game called ceki (p. 198). Within the category Baba , individuals
are related to each other not just because of friendship, as is true of interethnic interaction, but they are
also related through kinship ties. Kinship is a significant institution principle for intragroup interaction
and in forming alliances. Among the Baba, social exchanges between relatives make up the most
significant kind of social interaction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The surname (si) is inherited patrilineally and surname exogamy is observed (p. 199). Baba boys and

appropriate terms of address and the unwritten rule of exchanging things for mutual benefit on social
exchanges between different categories of relatives. It is acknowledged that the basic structure of
Baba kinship system is the Hokkien system, it has however obtained its own Baba identity due to
certain Baba linguistic features (for example, certain kinship terms and historical

Who Shot Roger Rabbit Suspense Analysis
It is often thought that surprise and suspense are two elements of film that are reserved to the genres of
action and horror. This, however, couldn t be farther from the truth. Suspense and surprise can be
incorporated into any and all types of film. Even in comedic movies, directors may want to build
tension or catch their audience by surprise. These onscreen techniques can be useful for many
purposes outside of the generic bump in the night scare tactics. Before one can truly begin to
appreciate the use of these two techniques, though, they must understand what they truly are. Surprise
is when the audience is taken unaware, usually when one is shocked. Suspense is defined as anxiety
brought on by partial uncertainty or even knowing, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One purpose of surprises are that they often reveal some major plot point in a dramatic way. For
example, the biggest surprise of the entire movie is used to reveal the crucial whodunit moment.
Within Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, many surprise tactics are used, however, it is this final climactic
reveal that has the largest effect on the audience and their movie experience. It is unveiled that Judge
Doom, the man intent on eradicating Toon Town, is actually a toon, and the toon that killed Eddie s
brother no less! Without this surprise impact, the event in question would not have had much of an
impact. The absence of this plot twist would detract from the movie s overall success, as it would
become much less interesting to watch. Audiences like to be surprised, because the unpredictability of
the plot keeps them invested. Surprises are the perfect cinematic techniques to snap the audience back
into the action. If a movie doesn t keep at least some degree of mystery, and the viewer can see every
event coming, they may leave feeling very unsatisfied and bored. It is for this reason that the film Who
Framed Roger Rabbit? is successful in the sense that the audience is never

The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell
In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical discussion.
In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter Bell, Remaking
the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of Peter Bell in order to
expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and subject matter. Despite
this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our perspective and distance us from the
first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing
the significance of Peter Bell and undermines Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton
Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent
parodies that were written about Peter Bell. Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he
also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody
ultimately serves as a distortion of Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through
Peter Bell s journey of self discovery. William Wordsworth dramatizes real life situations by using
aspects of the gothic genre in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine
William Wordsworth s thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to
which the gothic mode of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways

Examples Of Compromise Dbq
Compromise Essay To what extent was the United States from 1774 1865 an example of successful
compromise? Compromises are a very important part of American History. The Three Fifths
Compromise of 1787 is one of many. To whom it may concern, America was a huge example of
Compromise. To quote Kenneth C. Davis, We wouldn t be here as a country without that...
Washington D.C as a city wouldn t exist without compromise (Doc. J). The 3 ways America was
successful with Compromise from 1774 1865 were with Amendments, Slavery, and The Constitution.
To begin, Amendments are a form of successful compromise because it s a group decision. Everyone
needs to agree on the choice of correction. If the people who created the Amendments didn t agree, we
wouldn t have them today. This proves they were a success. George Washington urged congress in his
first inaugural address to propose amendments that offered a reference for the characteristic rights of
freemen and a regard for public harmony. (Doc. B) The harmony in this quote is saying that the public
should live in agreement with each other. Thomas Jefferson, the U.S minister to France at the time,
wrote James Madison that he was concerned about the omission, of a bill of rights ... providing clearly
for freedom of religion, freedom of the press, protection against standing armies, and restrictions
against monopolies(Doc. B). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Animal Cloning
When the subject of cloning is brought up, many people expect to see an exact replica of a person,
including the same age. However, there is much more to cloning than creating an identical person
from the original. A clone is defined to be a cell or organism that is genetically indistinguishable to the
original cell or organism from which it is acquired (Rogers, 2015). Cloning was introduced in 1903 by
Herbert J. Webber, who was an American plant scientist and used cloning in reference to plants that
had been assembled through asexual propagation by horticultural methods. Plants that are propagated
asexually, whether from twigs or cuttings of other parts or from bulbs or buds, are exact genetic
replicas of their parent plant (Rogers, 2015). In nature, cloning happens all the time. Thesis: There are
many different topics to cloning other than the subject that began the idea of cloning. Over the years,
the topics of human cloning and animal cloning have been discussed bringing debate on ethical issues
and whether there are any advantages or disadvantages.
Animal cloning is a process by which a complete organism is replicated from a single cell extracted
from the parent organism and in a manner in which they are genetically the same (Cloning, 2017).
Meaning, that the cloned animal is an exact copy of its parent; both contain the identical DNA
(Cloning, 2017). More specifically, in reproductive cloning, researchers remove a mature somatic cell,
such as a skin cell, from

An Experiment On The Reaction Of Acid And Decanting Has On...
Purpose:
It s important for reactions in aqueous solutions to reach equilibrium, meaning that both products and
reactants need to be present before continuing to the next reaction or next step. In this experiment,
copper was changed through eight different reactions. Throughout the process, qualitative
observations were recorded to see what effect each type of acid and decanting has on copper. All of
these steps were successfully completed by using different acidic solutions and zinc to take copper
through the cycle from copper solid to copper nitrate to copper hydroxide, to copper oxide, to copper
II sulfate, and back to copper solid.
Procedure:
CHE 131 Experiment 8, General Chemistry I Lab, 131 Quarter 2014 2015, DePaul University.
[Online] https://www.d2l.depaul.edu (March 10, 2015)
Zinc was added till the solution was clear during the reduction.
When washing the copper at the end, there was only one wash with water.
Data and Results:
The table below shows the qualitative date observed throughout the whole process of the copper cycle.
Table 1: Copper Cycle
Description Data Observed
Mass of Copper Wire 0.3165 g
Dissolution of Copper Copper starts to dissolve and bubbling occurs when nitric acid was added. The
solution became green and the beaker started to become orange/brown as gas was being released.
Solution then became light blue when washed with water.
Precipitation of Cupric Hydroxide The solution then became a dark blue color. The precipitate was

Abigail Adams Letter Analysis
Abigail Adams, in her letter, introduces advice and caution to her son, John Quincy Adams while he is
on a trip to France with his father. Adams purpose is to allow her son to know what she expects of him
on his trip in France. She adopts an authoritative tone in order to show her son that she knows what s
best for him, and to make sure he experiences some feelings of fear, so he will obey her wishes. In her
letter, Abigail Adams uses different types of rhetorical strategies to help get her thoughts across.
Abigail begins her letter by doing what any mother would do if her son was on a trip without her,
expresses hope that the trip was safe. Starting in paragraph two, she moves into building an
authoritative appeal by reminding her son she was the one who sent him on this trip, due to the fact he
is not capable of making wise decisions himself. Following this, she tried to make him aware of the
fact that he ¨submitted to [her] advice¨ and he should not ¨give [her] reason to lament it¨ (Paragraph
2). This allows Abigail to show her authority over her son, John Quincy Adams, and show him what
she expects of him. Later in the letter she brings to his attention the idea that he needs to acquire the
French language. He is in France, therefore he can learn the language, which could help him later in
his life by being more diverse. When bringing up the idea of him learning French, she is trying to
make him feel some guilt. If she sent him to France and he does not pick up the

Love in the Time of Cholera
Love Conquers All
There are many themes that can be identified throughout the book, Love in the Time of Cholera. Love,
as stated in the title, is one of the most important themes within the book. Love is channeled through
all of the characters such as; Fermina Daza and Dr. Urbino, Florentino and all of his many affairs with
different women, Dr. Urbino and his affair with Barbara Lynch, and most importantly the most
powerful love throughout the book is the love between Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza.
Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza s love started at a very young age, when they were just teenagers.

He even wrote his own book titled, Lover s Companion. He became a ghost writer of love letters. In
the book it says, He had so much love left over inside that he did not know what to do with it, and he

Scribes (Garcia Marquez 171). He eventually became swamped with letters where he wrote only about
Fermina Daza without his clients ever knowing his sole purpose to writing the letters and having so
much emotion behind it.
The older Florentino gets the more he starts to realize that he is wasting his life. In the book it says,
But that night he saw for the first time in a conscious way how Fermina Daza s life was passing and
how his was passing, while he did nothing more than wait (Garcia Marquez 199). This is the first time
in the novel that he realizes he is wasting his time. Florentino s life revolved around Fermina and due
to his love for her whenever he was nostalgic his memories goes to her, but whenever she is nostalgic
her memories do not go to him.
Once Dr. Urbino dies Fermina is heartbroken but eventually realizes that her most of her life was
defined by being his wife and after he is dead she starts to gain some independence. In her final years
she will learn to be her own person and become independent. In the book she portrays this when it

Child Support Research Paper
While growing up, children get a lot of support from their father and mother. Children learn things
from them. Every action that parents do, their children want to do the same. Parents are always careful
with their child until they get older and ready to do things by their own. But what about when the child
gets older? Are they going to take care of their parents and give the same support and love? Many
people will change when they mature. They always want to be on their own and forget about their
parents. As people are getting older, they should not forget about their parents. Parents support their
child until they mature and ready to do things by them self, but a lot of children forget to pay them

Every attitude you gave to your parents is a lesson for your child. For example, as a kid, I remember
how my mother uses to talk to my grandma, and now I know how I should act to my mother. I am also
raising a child right now, and every action and attitude that I am giving to my mom will one day come
to me from my child, because my child will learn from that. If I forget and never care about my mom,
my son will do the same thing to me in the future. That s why people should think about everything
before they actually do it. I am alive because of my son, I am alive because my son is alive and he is
smiling. That s how parents feel about their child. I don t want my son to forget about me, nor any
other parents too. According to Fred Hardinge, All children, regardless of their age, pick parents as
their number one role model. This shows how children get an example from their parents and learn
things from them. As a result, children should always take care of their parents, because every action

The Influence Of Enlightenment On American Life
The Enlightenment was a European based intellectual movement centered in France. However, the
Enlightenment did reach America and was influential to American life. The Enlightenment stressed
reason and rationality in understanding and remaking the world. Enlightenment thinkers believed that
the universe could be ordered, foretold, and condensed into laws. The Enlightenment also stressed that
change and improvement was possible for individuals and society alike. Enlightenment thinkers
considered themselves to be philosophers and lovers of wisdom. People who believed in
Enlightenment ideas would have not strongly believed in God or that God had any intervention in the
world. This led to Enlightenment philosophers, such as Isaac Newton, to see

The Use Of Forced Restraint And Mild Analgesia
Introduction As healthcare professionals, the goal is to relieve pain and suffering with little to no harm
done1,2. While children suffer similarly from pain as adults do, there are different factors to take into
account. Children might suffer from a heightened sense of fear and anxiety as compared to adults3 and
as such, the age old concept of forced restraint is no longer acceptable and may even compound the
child s fear in hospitals and needles throughout life1,4. While distraction techniques, play therapy and
mild analgesia might be sufficient in producing a cooperative and relaxed child4,5, for severe pain,
this is not an option and general anaesthesia or sedation is often used instead1,6,7. Furthermore, given

Moreover, IV infusion can be utilized in other roles. For instance, there are situations where a Y line
might be utilized to allow piggybacking or the addition of a second infusion set onto the same line10.
This helps to reduce the number of IV sites required in a patient and therefore, can reduce the risk of
infection as well as improving patient comfort. Whilst Y site administration is commonly used in
hospitals, there are limitations to it. For instance, once a drug has been administered intravenously, it
cannot be reversed11. Therefore, any adverse effect observed is difficult to treat. This issue is only
magnified when two or more drugs which are incompatible are administered together12 (Fig 1.0).
There are guides and references available when looking at drug incompatibility but they can be
limited13. As such, there are situations where the outcome of combining two drugs is unknown and
hence the responsibility falls the pharmacist to determine if the infusion is suitable for treatment or
not. This paper seeks to look at the drug ketamine; a sedative commonly used in pain management,
combined with two other commonly used drugs in hospitals, vancomycin; an antibiotic, and tramadol;
an analgesic. It will also seek to define incompatibility before looking at the importance of drug
compatibility and limitations of guides following the administration of Y site infusion in pain

Stock Market Crash
The stock market and its crash is argued by some historians in being a key impetus towards the great
depression. The reality of the stock market was that many lived far below the poverty line and much
of the investments which were carried out were bought on the margin . Additionally, there had been an
immense amount of unregulated speculation resulting in huge debt as the levels of stock prices
exceeded real economic growth, resulting in a continued lack of confidence and a fragile banking
system. This resulted in an enormous crash to the extent that the Bull Market was described as dead
and billions of dollars of profits were discarded. In association with the weaknesses within the
banking system, the fact that most of the rural banks were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graubard further continues to argue that Hoover s domestic policies were limited and gave little
satisfaction towards a society surrounded by mass unemployment, huge losses of income as well as
savings. In addition to this, the increase in unemployment resulted in the government being faced with
highly increased expenditure on welfares. In 1931, it raised income tax and cut unemployment pay by
10 per cent and introduced the means test. These measures reduced the amount of money people had
to spend and therefore in this regard the government can be argued to have played a significant role in
causing the Great Depression. As a result, Hoover is often criticised from both sides with regards for
doing too little too late, however he is also criticised for doing too much.
Overall, it is clear that various historians have argued on different factors being the prime reasons for
the cause of the great depression, therefore the main reason for the cause of the great depression can
vary when looking at historical interpretations of the period and the opinions surrounding the issue.
Examples of key historians which differ in their interpretations towards the causes of the great
depression include Anthony Badger, Paul Johnson and Milton Friedman

Electronic Cigarettes Essay
Abstract
Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of smoking
electronic cigarettes remains unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure fundamental
frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida students who are non smokers, ages 18
to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured on fundamental
frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated that a non smokers
use of an electronic cigarette will immediately produce a reduction in fundamental frequency, which
may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies similar to that of traditional cigarettes.
The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on
the fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic variable, gender, may also impact fundamental
frequency results, and will too be analyzed. The proposal provides an overview of the literature and
specific methodological strategies for implementing the research. Expected outcomes and future
research will be discussed.

without holding onto the wall, falling, and wobbling side to side. In order to move on to the next step

You two will keep doing that until you are able to do it on your own without the help of your

perfectly with your routine in the making. It may sound hard to pick the perfect song for a routine that
is not even made up yet, but for the first part all you have to do is find a song that you will be able to
skate and dance to. The most important rule you should remember while you are picking you song is
that the song has to be absolutely clean or else the judges will either deduct points from your score or
you will be disqualified it will most likely be the latter. Once you picked out a song give it to your
instructor to listen to and see if they approve of your choice of music. The second part is that your
instructor will either be able to make up a routine to go along with the music you had chosen or they
will tell you to choose a different song. Another option is that they can choose a song for you to skate
to. The reason why the last two options are there is because your instructor may not like the music you
had chosen since before they even listen to the music you chosen they are already figuring out what
will be put in your routine and how it will be put together. Next, you will begin practicing your routine

Corruption In The Film Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Corruption in the United States government takes the power away from the people and puts it into the
hands of elite groups and politicians. This corruption is prevalent in the film Mr. Smith goes to
Washington . The film has a strong message about corruption in the government, and places an
innocent and naïve character, Mr. Smith in the middle of the corruption. In Washington, Mr. Smith
discovers the corruption that has overtaken the capitol, but does not let it falter his integrity. Although
Mr. Smith is surrounded by corruption, he is able to fight the system and bring some integrity back to
Washington. The film portrays the government in a very negative light and shows how the senators
have no real influence on lawmaking. Mr. Smith s struggles as a senator gave the impression that the
government functions completely on bribery, blackmail, and lies. The film gives a very strong
message about the lack of democracy in American government and politics, along with the ignorance
of the American people. Mr. Smith portrays the average American citizen: he is naïve, has faith in the

In the world there are thousands of people who aren t able to work and are considered disabled, but
what about those who are able to work and just want things handed to them? These people are needy
and self centered. They believe that if they can t get a job on the first try that everyone else should
have to take care of them. SNAPS has a system to provide for these people, while helping them have
more opportunities to get a job in the end. This system is good for the community and has the ability
to help thousands of people get back on their feet, and into the workforce. There was an act created in
1996 called The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act. This act helps lay
out the time requirement that the people applying for SNAPS have to complete all their training hours
in order to be able and receive the food stamps. As long as the potential recipient completes their
hours needed and they meet all the other requirements that need to be met, they ... Show more content

SNAP benefits should not be an easy hand out, many of the SNAP recipients don t depend on these
benefits to live. From the year 2000 to 2014 the cost of giving these benefits out has risen from 20.7
billion to 83.1 billion. The U. S government has spent over $1 trillion on providing, cash, food,
housing and social services to the poor and low income individuals . These benefits cost the taxpayers
around $10.5 billion per year. Which is why many should be cut from receiving these benefits. In the
state of Maine they ve started a reform to make all the SNAP recipients ages 18 49 who do not have
children or anyone else to support must do community service, have a job or be in some kind of
training (military, or for a job), to receive their benefits. In the first months of the work policy the
SNAP recipients fell from 13,332 to 2,678. This rapid drop will save taxpayers 9.7 billion per

Great sun flares, killing much of the population of earth, brought great destruction. These flares,
combined with a cureless disease become known as the Flare in this futuristic science fiction novel,

Because of these flares, a group of scientists have formed together into WICKED (World in

Flare, even if it requires great sacrifice. They ultimately decided to pull children from this horrible
place the world had come to. These children had high intelligence and great physical ability. They
were ultimately be put to the test to discover who would be intelligent to find the cure to the Flare.
After they were taken from their home, they were forced to attend a special school that taught them
the skills they needed to survive the Maze. Once they were ready, all of their memories, except their
survival skills, were swiped. They then were sent in a metal elevator to the Glade a large space
surrounded by a great maze first in one, large group; after that, they were sent one at a time, once a
month. The Gladers were given basics, such as clothes, materials to make food, etc. However, they

Revenge of Medea
Medea was such a different woman and people in her society were afraid of her, including men. As a
result of this, before Jason, she never experienced being in love. When she finally experienced this
type of love she went to no end for Jason. To protect Jason and her love for him she killed the beast
guarding the Golden Fleece, she killed her brother, and she left her home, family and everything she
knew for him. Most women would not have gone that far for love, especially women during her time;
but Medea was not your average woman. All of the things she did for Jason. But start when Jason
betray her, all the bad feeling coming.

Being a stranger is hard and when your love one betray is harder. She also said to the woman of the
Corinth, You have this city, your father s home. I m alone; I have no city; now my husband insults me.
(Pg. 25, line. 5 8). She said her family gone and she does not have anyone to lean on. The only person
she has was her husband but now her husband going to leave her and marry another woman. She had
betrayed her father because of Jason. She did everything for Jason. So she does not have family to
return. This is very emotional because when we feel sad, we just need someone to talk to or someone
who with us to encourage us. But Medea was in another country with different culture and believes.
She said in the country where she from if a man grows tired of the company at home, he can go out,
and find a cure for tediousness. We wives are forced to look to one man only. (pg. 24, line. 30 32). For
her she rather die instead of seeing her husband leaving her and she wants only her husband to her and
no other woman between her and Jason.
This is what Medea said to the woman of Corinth If I can find a way to work revenge on Jason for his
wrongs to me, say nothing. (Pg. 25, line 11 13). She said that because he s the only person she has and
she has no one to help her and no justices to help her. And if Jason leaves her she has no one to return
to. It is very easy to agree

So we can conclude that the relationship between the 3 month T Bill rate and implied 3 month forward
rate of interest are closer than the relationship between 3 month T bill rates and Dow Jones Index.
5.2(Third Model) Y=β0+β1X (β0 = the intercept of 3 Month T bill rate) (β1 = the slope of implied 1
year forward rate of interest) 3 Month T Bill Rates= 0.01328+1.14838*implied 1 year forward rate of
interest Similarly with the second model, using the formula above, we can say that when implied 3
month forward rate of interest increased by 1, 3 Month T bill rates will increase by 114.838%
.Compare with the second model, according to the SAS output, we can see that the R square between3
month T Bill rate and implied 1 year forward rate of interest is 0.8145 which is much less than the R
square between 3 month T bill rates. With implied 3 month forward rate of interest only 0.8145, we

Traditional Mexican cuisine is primarily a combination of indigenous Mesoamerican elements such as
corn, beans, avocados, tomatoes, and chili peppers. Santi s, a Mexican restaurant found on the corner
of Meeting and Morrison in downtown Charleston, features a great variety of traditional and non
traditional elements all fused together to craft an impressive four page menu. In this essay, I will be
discussing which parts of the dishes steak encebollado and mexican tacos are traditional and which
parts are modern in regard to the history and evolution of Mexican cuisine.

The dish itself is a perfect example of modern Mexican cuisine. As stated above, meat is not a
traditional element in mexican diets because of its difficulty to obtain. In addition, cilantro and onion
were only added to pre existing mexican dishes after the Spaniards had brought multiple herbs and
spices following the Spanish Conquest of America in the 16th century. Alongside the plate, there are
garnishes of shredded lettuce, crema, guacamole, and options of several chili sauces. Avocados have
long been a part of the Mexican diet and archaeologists have found evidence of avocado consumption
going back almost 10,000 years in central Mexico. Avocados were first cultivated in South Central
Mexico to Central America and as far south as Peru. Mesoamerican tribes like the Inca, the Olmec and
the Maya grew domesticated avocado trees and the vegetable has prevailed

Dystopia In 1984 By George Orwell
Many characteristics of the society that americans live in now demonstrate a utopia, therefore, they
also demonstrate a dystopia. A utopia is a perfect world in which there are no problems like war,
disease, poverty, oppression, discrimination, inequality, and more universal problems existing. A
dystopia is a world in which nothing is perfect. Problems are extreme things are dysfunctional and
problematic. A utopia does not turn into a dystopia until the people living in that society do not live
authentic lives. Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled
they cannot become conscious (Orwell 72). This quote shows that the people in the society of a
dystopia often do not even realize they are not living in an ideal society. A utopia turns into a dystopia
when the members of society are unaware that they have little control over themselves and their well
being. Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows
(Orwell 84). If people can say what they want and feel, then they are not living in a dystopia. My real
life utopia, Drop City, refused to have a leader. A utopia will stay a utopia until the people do not have
the freedoms that they believe that they have, at which point the utopia becomes a dystopia. In many
dystopian fictions, if not all dystopian fictions, there is a strong central government. This has to do
with the time periods in which the stories are written. 1984,

Quantitative And Qualitative
With qualitative and quantitative most psychological researchers use both types of methods. In
particular, qualitative methods are widely used as exploratory methods; then the results of qualitative
analysis are used to design quantitative research. What is the difference between quantitative and
qualitative research? In this essay I will go into more detail on these two forms of research looking at
the definition, strengths, limitations and key features of each research method.
Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The
gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner. The primary aim of a
qualitative research is to provide a complete, detailed description of the research topic. It is usually
more exploratory in nature.
Qualitative research is multi method in focus, involving an interpretive, ... Show more content on

This allows the researcher to find issues that are often missed (such as subtleties and complexities) by
the scientific, more positivistic enquiries. Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of
suggesting possible relationships, causes, effects and dynamic processes. Qualitative analysis allows
for ambiguities and also contradictions in the data, which is a reflection of social reality. Qualitative
research uses a descriptive, narrative style, this research might be of particular benefit to the
practitioner as she or he could turn to qualitative reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that
might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining new insight. Qualitative research see s people as
individuals, attempting to gather their subjective experience of an event. This can provide a unique
insider view of the research question through the qualitative approach, which is less structured than a
quantitative approach, unexpected results and insights, can

Myasthenia Gravis Case Analysis
Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune disease of the neuromuscular junction which usually causes
muscle weakness and other problems. Some of the people who have Myasthenia Gravis experience
respiratory failures. It s very crucial that these patients stay away from interventions that might worsen
the disease process. In 2014 a 62 year old woman with a history of metastatic thymic carcinoma and
myasthenia gravis came to the emergency room in Houston, Texas. For two days this lady had been
experiencing weakness, difficulty swallowing, and shortness of breath. They admitted her into the
intensive care unit because she had the symptoms of a myasthenia crisis. That evening they ran a test
and there was a substantial decrease in the patient s vital capacity. The patient wouldn t agree to be
intubated or ventilated. On the third day in the ICU the patient was granted a trial of non invasive
ventilation, but this did not improve her condition. So finally she agreed to be intubated ... Show more

She felt as if her symptoms of difficulty swallowing, weakness, and hoarseness were getting worse.
Her vision was also getting worse. She was given another plasma transfusion and the symptoms were
resolved. She was transferred from the ICU at day 7 and released 3 days later.
I actually understood this article a lot more than the others minus the parts where it would talk about
certain medications and certain amounts of the medication. I feel as if it s very sad that we can t cure
myasthenia gravis. I feel bad that people have to live with this and there s nothing they can do besides
taking medication daily for the rest of their life unless they want to have flare ups and symptoms. This
disease would affect everyday life especially if you were having a flare up. You would feel as if you
couldn t walk or as if you were too heavy to walk. Back whenever I lived in Manila I grew up very
closely to my neighbors Mr. Walker and Mrs. Julie.

Pitbull And Human Behavior Analysis
The words Pitbull or Mastiff or even Rottweiler can often cause the ordinary to pull up their lip, or to
gasp. Many times I use the word Pitbull and an immediate response is something along the lines of
aggressive dogs or dangerous animals , but I ve never believed that to be the case.
In October of 2014, my mom andI had begun to discuss adding a fur baby to out family. We had the
original intent of getting a Rottweiler, a sweet dog with a big bark. Of course, things don t always go
as we intend them too. A different breed was immediately pushed on us when we mentioned we
wanted someone protective, but still sweet.

Small Group Communication In Prison Break
Wither if someone is a child, student or an adult they have been put into small groups at one point in
their lives. For most students, like myself, it is for group projects or classroom activities. DeVito
defines a small group as, a collection of individuals who are connected to one another by some
common purpose, are interdependent, have some degree of organization among them, and see
themselves as a group (pg. 211). Being a part of a small group involves a great amount of
communication to make it successful.
All throughout television and movie productions viewers are able to see small group communication
happen on screen. One way successful group communication was present on television was through
the show Prison Break. Prison Break ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the feedforward stage of communication, In Informal social groups, the feedforward may
consist simply of introduction of a topic of conversation or talking about what the group s members
should do (pg. 213). Since Michael is in prison, this would be considered an informal setting. After he
found people he could trust, Michael introduced the breakout plan to his fellow inmates. The crew
consisted of six men, which included himself and his brother. The six men were all on the same PI
(prison industries) crew together. When ever they had to work on a job, that s when they would talk
about their plan. Many of the members were skeptical at first, because the plan seemed crazy.
However, Michael convinced them to join anyway. Once the team was on board, Michael explained
what each member of the team needed to do.
After the second stage was completed, the group moved on to the Business stage of communication.
DeVito explains the third stage as, actual work on the tasks the problem solving (pg. 213). Michael
would tell the inmates what tasks needed to be accomplished in order for the plan to be successful. He
had to delegate tasks, so the mission could actually work. Once he told his fellow inmates what
needed to be done, they negotiated on what they wanted. If the inmates were going complete jobs for
Michael, Michael needed to do some work for them first. For example, Michael knew one inmate
(John Abruzzi) had access to a small plane that

Abstract
The state of Michigan s Earned Income Tax Credit is a good anti poverty mechanism for low and
moderate income working families. The Michigan credit was an effective technique for achieving a
reduction of the poverty rate in 2011. The Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit targets a certain
income level of working families. In 2011 the state Earned Income Tax Credit reached over 700,000
households. Governor Rick Snyder does not support its state credit geared toward low income families
irrespective of the amount of families that were elevated out of poverty. The tax credit advocates for
children and child education, can stimulate the economy by way of the multiplier effect, and lead
families to self sufficiency. Michigan EITC 3
The Effects of the Michigan Earned Income on
The Economy and working Families The Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit (MEITC) is a
refundable credit that targets low income working families. There are many other states with the
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) some with a refundable credit some with a non refundable credit.
The state credit follows the same criteria as the federal EITC. The MEITC is a credit against the states
income tax that attempts to create tax equity among the wealthy and poor citizens of

  • 2. Politics And History Through An Alternative Path For Self... Akhil Subramanian Salc 20200 29 May 2008 361411 Politics and history through an alternative path to self rule Lagaan (2001), through the setting of Hindi cinema and the popular appeal of cricket, charts an alternative history of India, from the colonised past of 1893 to an ideal post colonial future. Using elements of pop culture, the director Ashutosh Gowarikar transforms the singularity of Champaneer s struggle against triple lagaan, into a microcosm of an Indian nation s ideal path toward self rule. Notably, this self rule is ideologically centred ex ante on Gandhi s vision of self sufficient village units, as mentioned in Hind Swaraj . In doing so, Gowarikar is able to (a) tell the historical tale of colonial rule and oppression in India, and (b) through dealing with Champaneer s internal struggles toward becoming a self sufficient village unit, highlight current thorny issues of Indian politics. Gowarikar uses the popularity of cricket in India as a catalyst for a nationalistic struggle. Although the wager is based on the amelioration of economic conditions for Champaneer (namely triple lagaan versus no lagaan), the bet transforms into a struggle for independence and self rule through the medium of cricket. To the audience, cricket gives this marginalised, hitherto unknown village a (notably non violent) medium with which they can resist colonial oppression. While the villagers fight for the right to pay no tax for three years, the audience is invited to interpret ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Baylor University Admission Essay From starting kindergarten to approaching to my graduation date, college has always been in my mind. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of attending a university that will help me achieve my goals and become the person I am destined to be. As I gradually become older, I searched for schools that will satisfy my expectations. I began to discover what I want from a university; a place that can help me succeed socially and academically, and help me determine who I am. I came across Baylor University and discovered that this university is where I belong. With this college, I know I can receive many benefits and even contribute my ideas. By attending Baylor University, I have everything I desire in a university and make my contributions to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would be an honor to be of the few Nevadan students at the school for me. When researching Baylor University, I discovered so many factors that influence my decision to attend there. One major factor is the fact that Baylor University has smaller class ratios and the professors genuinely care about their students which is a factor most universities lack. I want to expand my academic knowledge and obtain excellent education opportunities. Another reason of mine is that there is school spirit and a sense of tradition among the students. I grew up in a small town where our school culture and spirit is incredibly popular. When I go off to college, I want to have the same experience again. My third and the final reason is that I want to be part of a university that is rapidly growing and expanding. Baylor University is slowly gaining national recognition. The University is also undergoing a more selective acceptance rate which shows that the University is determined to accept students who are hard workers and committed to Baylor. If I am accepted into Baylor University, it would be such an honor. Although attending Baylor University would be extremely beneficial to me, there are so many contributions that I can make to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Is The Relationship Between Interaction And Identity This section contains only a summary of Chapter 7 on The Kinship, Interaction and Identity from the book The Baba of Melaka: Culture Identity of a Chinese Peranakan community in Malaysia written by Tan Chee Beng which was published in 1988. The author s main purpose for writing this chapter is to identify in what ways is the Peranakan Chinese kinship system built based on the concept of social interaction between Baba and the non Baba Chinese as well as other ethnic groups, especially amongst the Malays and the experience of interaction with others (Chee Beng, 1988, p. 198). Within this chapter, the author suggested that the nature of intra ethnic and interethnic interaction built its self identification. Baba in Bukit Rambai closely interact among themselves as they encounter each other on a daily basis to play a card game called ceki (p. 198). Within the category Baba , individuals are related to each other not just because of friendship, as is true of interethnic interaction, but they are also related through kinship ties. Kinship is a significant institution principle for intragroup interaction and in forming alliances. Among the Baba, social exchanges between relatives make up the most significant kind of social interaction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Who Shot Roger Rabbit Suspense Analysis It is often thought that surprise and suspense are two elements of film that are reserved to the genres of action and horror. This, however, couldn t be farther from the truth. Suspense and surprise can be incorporated into any and all types of film. Even in comedic movies, directors may want to build tension or catch their audience by surprise. These onscreen techniques can be useful for many purposes outside of the generic bump in the night scare tactics. Before one can truly begin to appreciate the use of these two techniques, though, they must understand what they truly are. Surprise is when the audience is taken unaware, usually when one is shocked. Suspense is defined as anxiety brought on by partial uncertainty or even knowing, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One purpose of surprises are that they often reveal some major plot point in a dramatic way. For example, the biggest surprise of the entire movie is used to reveal the crucial whodunit moment. Within Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, many surprise tactics are used, however, it is this final climactic reveal that has the largest effect on the audience and their movie experience. It is unveiled that Judge Doom, the man intent on eradicating Toon Town, is actually a toon, and the toon that killed Eddie s brother no less! Without this surprise impact, the event in question would not have had much of an impact. The absence of this plot twist would detract from the movie s overall success, as it would become much less interesting to watch. Audiences like to be surprised, because the unpredictability of the plot keeps them invested. Surprises are the perfect cinematic techniques to snap the audience back into the action. If a movie doesn t keep at least some degree of mystery, and the viewer can see every event coming, they may leave feeling very unsatisfied and bored. It is for this reason that the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is successful in the sense that the audience is never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical discussion. In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter Bell, Remaking the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of Peter Bell in order to expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and subject matter. Despite this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our perspective and distance us from the first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing the significance of Peter Bell and undermines Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent parodies that were written about Peter Bell. Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody ultimately serves as a distortion of Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through Peter Bell s journey of self discovery. William Wordsworth dramatizes real life situations by using aspects of the gothic genre in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine William Wordsworth s thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to which the gothic mode of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways ... • 8. Examples Of Compromise Dbq Compromise Essay To what extent was the United States from 1774 1865 an example of successful compromise? Compromises are a very important part of American History. The Three Fifths Compromise of 1787 is one of many. To whom it may concern, America was a huge example of Compromise. To quote Kenneth C. Davis, We wouldn t be here as a country without that... Washington D.C as a city wouldn t exist without compromise (Doc. J). The 3 ways America was successful with Compromise from 1774 1865 were with Amendments, Slavery, and The Constitution. To begin, Amendments are a form of successful compromise because it s a group decision. Everyone needs to agree on the choice of correction. If the people who created the Amendments didn t agree, we wouldn t have them today. This proves they were a success. George Washington urged congress in his first inaugural address to propose amendments that offered a reference for the characteristic rights of freemen and a regard for public harmony. (Doc. B) The harmony in this quote is saying that the public should live in agreement with each other. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Animal Cloning When the subject of cloning is brought up, many people expect to see an exact replica of a person, including the same age. However, there is much more to cloning than creating an identical person from the original. A clone is defined to be a cell or organism that is genetically indistinguishable to the original cell or organism from which it is acquired (Rogers, 2015). Cloning was introduced in 1903 by Herbert J. Webber, who was an American plant scientist and used cloning in reference to plants that had been assembled through asexual propagation by horticultural methods. Plants that are propagated asexually, whether from twigs or cuttings of other parts or from bulbs or buds, are exact genetic replicas of their parent plant (Rogers, 2015). In nature, cloning happens all the time. Thesis: There are many different topics to cloning other than the subject that began the idea of cloning. Over the years, the topics of human cloning and animal cloning have been discussed bringing debate on ethical issues and whether there are any advantages or disadvantages. Animal cloning is a process by which a complete organism is replicated from a single cell extracted from the parent organism and in a manner in which they are genetically the same (Cloning, 2017). Meaning, that the cloned animal is an exact copy of its parent; both contain the identical DNA (Cloning, 2017). More specifically, in reproductive cloning, researchers remove a mature somatic cell, such as a skin cell, from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Purpose: It s important for reactions in aqueous solutions to reach equilibrium, meaning that both products and reactants need to be present before continuing to the next reaction or next step. In this experiment, copper was changed through eight different reactions. Throughout the process, qualitative observations were recorded to see what effect each type of acid and decanting has on copper. All of these steps were successfully completed by using different acidic solutions and zinc to take copper through the cycle from copper solid to copper nitrate to copper hydroxide, to copper oxide, to copper II sulfate, and back to copper solid. Procedure: CHE 131 Experiment 8, General Chemistry I Lab, 131 Quarter 2014 2015, DePaul University. [Online] https://www.d2l.depaul.edu (March 10, 2015) Zinc was added till the solution was clear during the reduction. When washing the copper at the end, there was only one wash with water. Data and Results: The table below shows the qualitative date observed throughout the whole process of the copper cycle. Table 1: Copper Cycle Description Data Observed Mass of Copper Wire 0.3165 g Dissolution of Copper Copper starts to dissolve and bubbling occurs when nitric acid was added. • 11. Abigail Adams Letter Analysis Abigail Adams, in her letter, introduces advice and caution to her son, John Quincy Adams while he is on a trip to France with his father. Adams purpose is to allow her son to know what she expects of him on his trip in France. She adopts an authoritative tone in order to show her son that she knows what s best for him, and to make sure he experiences some feelings of fear, so he will obey her wishes. In her letter, Abigail Adams uses different types of rhetorical strategies to help get her thoughts across. Abigail begins her letter by doing what any mother would do if her son was on a trip without her, expresses hope that the trip was safe. Starting in paragraph two, she moves into building an authoritative appeal by reminding her son she was the one who sent him on this trip, due to the fact he is not capable of making wise decisions himself. Following this, she tried to make him aware of the fact that he ¨submitted to [her] advice¨ and he should not ¨give [her] reason to lament it¨ (Paragraph 2). This allows Abigail to show her authority over her son, John Quincy Adams, and show him what she expects of him. Later in the letter she brings to his attention the idea that he needs to acquire the French language. He is in France, therefore he can learn the language, which could help him later in his life by being more diverse. When bringing up the idea of him learning French, she is trying to make him feel some guilt. If she sent him to France and he does not pick up the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every action that parents do, their children want to do the same. Parents are always careful with their child until they get older and ready to do things by their own. But what about when the child gets older? Are they going to take care of their parents and give the same support and love? Many people will change when they mature. They always want to be on their own and forget about their parents. As people are getting older, they should not forget about their parents. However, the Enlightenment did reach America and was influential to American life. The Enlightenment stressed reason and rationality in understanding and remaking the world. Enlightenment thinkers believed that the universe could be ordered, foretold, and condensed into laws. The Enlightenment also stressed that change and improvement was possible for individuals and society alike. Enlightenment thinkers considered themselves to be philosophers and lovers of wisdom. • 15. The Use Of Forced Restraint And Mild Analgesia Introduction As healthcare professionals, the goal is to relieve pain and suffering with little to no harm done1,2. While children suffer similarly from pain as adults do, there are different factors to take into account. Children might suffer from a heightened sense of fear and anxiety as compared to adults3 and as such, the age old concept of forced restraint is no longer acceptable and may even compound the child s fear in hospitals and needles throughout life1,4. While distraction techniques, play therapy and mild analgesia might be sufficient in producing a cooperative and relaxed child4,5, for severe pain, this is not an option and general anaesthesia or sedation is often used instead1,6,7. Furthermore, given how the gold standard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, IV infusion can be utilized in other roles. For instance, there are situations where a Y line might be utilized to allow piggybacking or the addition of a second infusion set onto the same line10. This helps to reduce the number of IV sites required in a patient and therefore, can reduce the risk of infection as well as improving patient comfort. Whilst Y site administration is commonly used in hospitals, there are limitations to it. For instance, once a drug has been administered intravenously, it cannot be reversed11. Therefore, any adverse effect observed is difficult to treat. This issue is only magnified when two or more drugs which are incompatible are administered together12 (Fig 1.0). There are guides and references available when looking at drug incompatibility but they can be limited13. As such, there are situations where the outcome of combining two drugs is unknown and hence the responsibility falls the pharmacist to determine if the infusion is suitable for treatment or not. This paper seeks to look at the drug ketamine; a sedative commonly used in pain management, combined with two other commonly used drugs in hospitals, vancomycin; an antibiotic, and tramadol; an analgesic. The reality of the stock market was that many lived far below the poverty line and much of the investments which were carried out were bought on the margin . Additionally, there had been an immense amount of unregulated speculation resulting in huge debt as the levels of stock prices exceeded real economic growth, resulting in a continued lack of confidence and a fragile banking system. This resulted in an enormous crash to the extent that the Bull Market was described as dead and billions of dollars of profits were discarded. In 1931, it raised income tax and cut unemployment pay by 10 per cent and introduced the means test. These measures reduced the amount of money people had to spend and therefore in this regard the government can be argued to have played a significant role in causing the Great Depression. As a result, Hoover is often criticised from both sides with regards for doing too little too late, however he is also criticised for doing too much. • 17. Electronic Cigarettes Essay Abstract Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of smoking electronic cigarettes remains unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure fundamental frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida students who are non smokers, ages 18 to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured on fundamental frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated that a non smokers use of an electronic cigarette will immediately produce a reduction in fundamental frequency, which may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies similar to that of traditional cigarettes. The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on the fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic variable, gender, may also impact fundamental frequency results, and will too be analyzed. The proposal provides an overview of the literature and specific methodological strategies for implementing the research. Expected outcomes and future research will be discussed. To be able to start you will need a pair of professional ice skates, ice skating nylons, a ice skating dress or clothes suited to practice in like loose sweatpants and a long sleeves. First, you need to learn the basics of ice skating. You need to be able to balance on the ice without holding onto the wall, falling, and wobbling side to side. In order to move on to the next step you have to skate smoothly with ease so you will look professional to the judges. The most important rule you should remember while you are picking you song is that the song has to be absolutely clean or else the judges will either deduct points from your score or you will be disqualified it will most likely be the latter. Once you picked out a song give it to your instructor to listen to and see if they approve of your choice of music. The second part is that your instructor will either be able to make up a routine to go along with the music you had chosen or they will tell you to choose a different song. Another option is that they can choose a song for you to skate to. The reason why the last two options are there is because your instructor may not like the music you had chosen since before they even listen to the music you chosen they are already figuring out what will be put in your routine and how it will be put together. • 26. Dystopia In 1984 By George Orwell Many characteristics of the society that americans live in now demonstrate a utopia, therefore, they also demonstrate a dystopia. A utopia is a perfect world in which there are no problems like war, disease, poverty, oppression, discrimination, inequality, and more universal problems existing. A dystopia is a world in which nothing is perfect. Problems are extreme things are dysfunctional and problematic. A utopia does not turn into a dystopia until the people living in that society do not live authentic lives. Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious (Orwell 72). This quote shows that the people in the society of a dystopia often do not even realize they are not living in an ideal society. A utopia turns into a dystopia when the members of society are unaware that they have little control over themselves and their well being. Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows (Orwell 84). If people can say what they want and feel, then they are not living in a dystopia. My real life utopia, Drop City, refused to have a leader. A utopia will stay a utopia until the people do not have the freedoms that they believe that they have, at which point the utopia becomes a dystopia. In many dystopian fictions, if not all dystopian fictions, there is a strong central government. This has to do with the time periods in which the stories are written. 1984, ... Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner.
