Western Influence in China and Japan Essay
China and Japan are two unique civilizations that went through similar, yet vastly different changes
throughout their histories. Their growth and response to other nations differed in many ways in
government, lifestyle, and general well being. One of the main causes for such difference between
the countries is the way the West influenced each region, and the way Chinaand Japan responded to
this influence. China focused more on the idea of being a status oriented society, while Japan was
more goal oriented based. In China, anyone had the ability to better themselves and change their
status through civil examinations given by the government. Western impact however slowly
changed this old age system. Japan s caste system viewed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Life was not idle in China as everyone had something to do. Based on Confucian values, groups
and classes respected each other and their work knowing the value of each. Chiang s father
further demonstrated this by being an honest and generous man, respected by the people of the
village in particular and surrounding districts generally (Chiang 29). By giving honor and
reverence to others, Chiang s father in turn received such respect. His benevolence was noticed
by the community and thus treated him in a higher light. However, relation with other classes
was not always bright, especially in other nations. Chiang describes his encounters in America as
he says California was not so hospitable a land socially for the Chinese as to make on feel
congenial or at ease (Chiang 68). Regardless of being part of the elite class, he was not always
treated with the utmost status. Skin color and national origin created barriers between individuals
and societies in general. Chinese elite s relations with the other classes embodied more than the
typical notion of master and servant. Individuals were respected for their own work and valued
for what they brought to China. Fukuzawa in his autobiography details his relation with the lower
classes in an act of respect and equality. Because he was originally born into a low rank family, he
held those under him as

Donald Trump As A President
Donald Trump for President of the United States
I strongly support the Republican candidate Donald Trump as our president for the upcoming
election of 2016. He is a great politician and also a very smart man. He is what this country needs
to bring us out of the dark hole that we have been sitting in these past few years. He is the man
with the plan and will turn this country back around to where it needs to be! Trump is a strong
believer in the use of American Exceptionalism, or that this country is much different than all of the
other countries. This country is much different than all of the other countries and we need to start
acting like it! We keep giving in to all of the other countries and giving them what they want or

He has developed a large and also very successful business in real estate. He is going to run and
operate our country just like he does his business. He will put all of his dedication towards the
country of the United States. The reason he is such a great businessman is because he hires the
right person for the job and doesn t allow anybody that is slacking to have an important role in his
business or some refer to it as an empire . He is also a very strategic person and can put everything
together very easily and we need a strategy for our country and if there is one man with a strategy

The Loudest Duck By Laura A. Liswood
Throughout the book The Loudest Duck by Laura A. Liswood, we learn about what it means to
be truly diverse and how to obtain this diversity. The book gives many examples of how and why
it is important for companies to be diverse. Through this paper I will be outlining the main points
the other made and share some of the lessons I feel are important.
The first few chapters outline the main problems with diversity that business deal with. While the
rest of the book goes deeper in to the issues and ways to overcome or avoid the problems to create
a truly diverse institute. The author gives background into the Noah s Ark theory as well as the
grandma effect. She also talks about the dynamics of dominate and non dominate groups in the
work place as she relates them to the Elephant and Mouse theory.
The first theory the book looks at is the Noah s Ark theory. The author explains that organizations
often try to become diverse using the Noah s ark model which simply means they try to have one
or more employees that meets each of the minorities. That is, they hire men women and people of
color rather than just hiring the people who are most like them.
This raises more problems than it solves because people are being hired for who they are rather
than the skills that they possess. In this type of situation people who are more qualified for a job
may be pushed aside in order to hire someone who meets the company s diversity needs. Instead of
following this Noah s Ark model

Advantages to the Industrial Revolution in Early Modern...
Prior to industrialization, the population of Europe saw a dramatic growth from 110,000,000 to
190,000,000. What triggered this growth? Likely the end of feudalism. The end of feudal contracts
gave people a little more say in their day to day working activities, resulting in more time spent at
home, which ultimately resulted in childbearing. This would leave citizens scrambling both to
provide needs for the populationas a whole, and to improve the individuals overall quality of life.
This resulted in economists, like Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations (1776), examining the most
cost effective method of producing the goods and services citizens demanded (such as clothing and
food). It also left others, such as Thomas Malthus in his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was essential because the population boom that occurred from 1650 1800, where population
climbed from 110,000,000 to 119,000,000, created the need for materials food and clothing to
be produced faster to sustain growth. Machines such as the scribbling mill, and spinning jenny
did the work of a hundred hands, for every single human hand. Initially these machines were met
by workers with despair, as one machine in twelve hours could do the work of ten men by hand .
These machines also reduced labour by a third, which resulted in an increase in wage for
workers and it also worked to increase trade since nations were about to compete with one another
for cheaper resources . From an economic standpoint this shift in labour was beneficial to the
masses because instead of people exerting themselves to compete with other nations, machinery
could just take on the majority of the work, assisting in this movement. This benefitted business
owners because they did not need as many labourers, and they could also afford to lower taxes.
Smith declares the invisible hand as a necessity for society because capitalism drives people to
seek cheaper sources, and in return if you provide that you will ultimately gain wealth.
Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations that division of labour was the greatest improvement
resulting from the industrial revolution. Division of labour was beneficial to both the employee and
the employer. The

The Personal Medicine Coalition writes, Patients with melanoma, leukemia, or metastatic lung,

this allows their physicians to select tailored treatments that can greatly improve the chances of
survival (4). According to The Personal Medicine Coalition, they explain how the advances in

Honda s current supply chain management strategy reflects Honda s long term goal of

Honda Purchasing results in lower cost, higher quality and more reliable sources of supply.
How does purchasing rank in the corporate structure at Honda?
The Purchasing at Honda has the option of adding a second source of supply and ultimately for
disqualifying suppliers from additional business with Honda.
How is Honda organized globally? How does this help/hinder the purchasing function at Honda?
Honda concentrated on establishing and then expanding its assembly operations, while carefully
probing the capabilities of domestic suppliers. Honda has established new auto manufacturing
facilities in Mexico and increased exports to Central and South America. The centerpiece of these
efforts is a program called Best Process.
When Renault came to benchmark Honda, the differences were stark. Renault had more than thirty
preferred suppliers with guaranteed contracts. A preferred supplier, by definition, has no
competition and has guaranteed ongoing contracts with Renault. Honda s purchasing function is
important because it serves a strategic role. Honda discourages adding special unique features

Postpartum Depression In The Yellow Wallpaper
When thinking about adding a new addition into a household, there are many things to consider. A
main point would question the parents of the future child/children regarding their ability to have a
stable income and a big enough house to accommodate the growth in their family. Throughout the
pregnancy, the parents will face many eye opening situations, but do we ever consider what can
happen after a woman conceives the child/children.

effects of postpartum depression. While discovering these resources, each had a different way of
explaining the effects of postpartum depression throughout different women. While researching

Felix Mendelssohn
The characterization of the musical production of Felix Mendelssohn requires the
acknowledgement of two key observations: the essentially classical structure of Mendelssohn s
compositions and the frequent romantic innovations Mendelssohn employed. Mendelssohn was a
conservative fixture in an era of radical upheaval the early nineteenth century. Intellectually in
Europe, this was an era of transition, as the romantics sought to upend the enlightenment
establishment across all areas of artistic, scientific and cultural production: whether the orderly
structures of classical music, the faith in reason and scientific progress that animated Enlightenment
tracts and polemics, the embrace of technological progress, or the vehement rejection of
superstitions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For all that doubt such a proclamation, consider the evidence: he wrote numerous compositions
including 5 operas and 11 symphonies during his boyhood (5 16 years old) for string orchestras,
concerti, sonatas and fugues. Mendelssohn started with piano lessons from his mother before
moving on to a series of tutors to nurture his musical interests. To trace the root of Mendelssohn s
inclinations for classical and baroque forms, specifically his deep appreciation for Bach, it is
perhaps instructive to focus on one key figure in Mendelssohn s childhood, his tutor Carl
Friedrich Zelzter and his aunt Sarah Levy. Mendelssohn absorbed Zeltzer s conservative tastes
and Levy s passion for Bach during the numerous composition and piano lessons Mendelssohn
had with these two figures. This musical enculturation perhaps explains in part Mendelssohn s
fondness for classical structures as well as his deep appreciation for an imitation of the forms
and styles of Johan Christian Bach. In 1821 Mendelssohn had the fortune to meet Goethe, the
great German poet responsible for the likes of Faust. The meeting of the musical prodigy and the
prolific poet was one of mutual admiration, and Goethe s poems proved a source of several of
Mendelssohn s musical creations. During a series of years starting in 1829 Mendelssohn visited
several localities in Great Britain and the Italic Peninsula, including Venice, Rome and Naples. His
visits and interactions with

Freestanding Malls
I know that someone has used Freestanding sites (pg 185), but I will use that along with Enclosed
shopping malls (pg. 191) for comparing and contrasting. The company that I work for tends to
scope out available spaces to grow the company. They aren t particularly picky in the choices
that they make if they believe that the store will make them money. They want to be able to be
diverse in their locations and experience the best of both worlds. We have locations that come in
all different shapes and sizes. The most frequent being freestanding sites and also ones that are
enclosed in malls. Not alot of places down here have attractions inside of malls and I m not
exactly sure how it looks up north. It s interesting though because the foot traffic that comes along
with the stores based in malls is amazing. You can attract customers who weren t even planning to
come to the store, but they come in to check it out and end up spending money. In a sense, the
customers are planned for but that on top of loyal customers is really great. Our freestanding stores
do well on their own too. Only difference is that they depend on their loyal customers. The random

Functionalist Perspective
Sociologists analyze and interpret social phenomena at different levels and from different
perspectives. Sociologists study everything from specific behaviors on the micro level to
generalized, big pictures on the macro level. Each palpable explanation and theoretical
generalization of society and social behavior that sociologists provide, contribute to the
understanding of complex behaviors we demonstrate everyday. Pioneering sociologists introduced a
broad conceptualization of the fundamentals of society. These views are now the basis of which
today s theoretical perspectives are formed. (Contributors at CliffsNotes, 2016) A theoretical

Functionalist Perspective According to the Functionalist Perspective, also known as functionalism,
each aspect of society is interdependent and the parts its people have in it all contribute to society s
functioning as a whole. Largely based on the works of Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott
Parsons, and Robert Merton, functionalism states that society is a system of interconnected parts
that rely on each other to maintain balance and social equilibrium. Functionalism emphasizes the
interconnectedness of society by focusing on the relationships and influences present in each part
of society. Terms as functional and dysfunctional are often used by sociologists focusing on
functionalism. Elements are said to be functional if they contribute to social stability and
dysfunctional if they break the pattern of stability. (Crossman, 2017) Functionalists are described to
defend the status quo, avoid social change, and believe people cooperate to effect social order.
Functionalism addresses society as a whole by standards of norms, customs, traditions, and
institutions. While once criticized for failure to account for social change and ignoring systematic
inequalities that naturally produce tension and conflict. The functionalist theory easily allows for
specific macro analyses of more contentious power imbalances while also permitting a

Summary Of The Skinny On Salt By Jeremy Likeness
Christopher. Hello, Perhaps the reason why salt is not discussed earlier in the chapter is that
humans require the nutrient of salt intake. Per author Jeremy Likeness in the article, the The skinny
on salt at bodybuiliding.com informs that body needs the nutrient of sodium and chloride that
cannot produce in the body. Furthermore, Likeness believes that it is not the sodiumamount that is
important rather the sodium in the diet is the ratio of sodium to potassium(Likeness). As sodium
potassium effects, fluid balance in the body. As a result, if there is too little sodium it will cause
the body to retain water. Unbeknownst to me, I did not realize how important it is to get the right

The Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Education
Gone are the days of children getting off of school to help their family farms during the summer.
Now, children as well as the teachers get out for some much needed relaxation. So why do we still
follow the same schedule? It seems every school year the discussion of year round education
captures the attention of the general public. Is it time for year round education(YRE) to be the new
norm? Ultimately, there are not that many pros for year round schooling to be the new thing and
the traditional 180 day schedule should be kept.
Many schools across the America have tried implementing year round education. However, some
school districts that tried YRE go back to the 180 day schedule (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and
Michael Rooney 1). When year round education is proposed most of the time opposition is met.
In 1992, parents of a possible pilot school were surveyed on their thoughts. 59% of the parents
responded. There was an overwhelming amount of rejection. Just 10% of those surveyed favored
YRE where 83% were against (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1).
So why is there such opposition for year round school? The concerns seem to arise with the idea of
taking away summer vacation. Most cite that both the students and the teachers need a break from
school. This also the time where many families have vacation. Summer is the time where family
spend time together without homework and project due dates looming over the students. This
looming inevitably happens during the

How Different Stages Contribute Towards A Successful Outcome
How different stages contribute towards a successful outcome
The procedures and techniques used in any criminal investigation help the investigators to do their
investigation properly. By correctly following the investigative stage, the investigators can improve
the quality of their case and investigation and the police will get a better chance to solve any
criminal case. In any criminal investigation, five stages are involved. The police and investigators
have the duty to follow all this stages, in order to get the best results.
Initial response to a reported crime
This stage one of criminal investigation is considered to be one of the most important stages of
criminal investigation. An unprofessional mistake made by a first responding officer can
extensively destroy the whole investigation. By following the correct procedures and rule the first
responding officer can eliminate the chance of making mistakes during the initial investigation.
The lack of knowledge can also disrupt a criminal investigation. The first responding officer is
likely to conduct a successful investigation if he knows how to deal with the problems at the crime
scene therefore, the first responding officer need to have good knowledge about the investigative
procedures.
While entering the crime scene, the first responding officer should look out for any evidence
which is present on the ground. There have some cases in which the first responding officer

Burham House Sociology
Monterey House Located on the grounds of Roanoke College s campus is the reportedly haunted
house known as Monterey. This house was built in 1853 by the Huff family, over time passed
through many different owners, and in 2002 was officially bought by Roanoke College.
Throughout the history of the house several of the occupants are known to have died within the
premises of the property, thus contributing to it s reputation of being haunted. In our investigation
of the Monterey house we spent two nights in the house gathering various types of data to aid us in
our attempt to discover what theoryof haunting is consistent with the experiences within the house.
The experiences within the house can be explained through several different theories... Show more

For example, the numerous dowsing hits found in the house can be attributed to the priming or
bias of the people conducting the dowsing sweeps. They might be unaware of the priming and
the bias caused by following or trying to repeat the results of another. In addition to the dowsing
hits, the psychological theory of explanation is also supported by the reports of hearing voices
that are not actually there. This can be attributed to a lack of sleep causing hallucinations, fueled
by a self fulfilling prophecy, like purposefully looking for a specific piece of evidence in your
data until you find it, and can even be attributed to hearing damage or impairment due to health
problems or old age. Another possible explanation for the hauntings can be seen with deja vu, or
the experiencing of intense familiarity with something in the present environment that leads you
to believe you have experienced it before. An exemplification of this theory can be seen when
Robin experienced feelings of familiarity while listening to a song during one of the vigils, but
could not place where she had heard it before. This feeling of familiarity is derived by the brain s
inability to recall the information related to the potential memory, and is sometimes referred to as
the tip of the tongue phenomena. Overall, the data collected from Monterey is mostly explained by

Abstract
This paper offers exploratory insights into the ways in which environmental factors influence the
internationalisation of a new low technology firm, two topics that are largely understudied in the
field of international entrepreneurship. By analysing data and literature, the influence of market
conditions, industry characteristics and global niche market opportunities are examined, using a ...

Research Question
Although a big part of German exports consist of low technology products, almost all research
about factors influencing internationalisation of new ventures, has been done focusing on
companies that operate in the high technology industry. The environment in which these firms
operate is very different from the environment in which low technology firms operate. High
technology firms face high R D costs, short product life cycles and mostly operate in niche markets
(Knight Cavusgill, 2004). These conditions are very different for low tech firms (Evers, 2010).
Here, R D costs and product life cycles play no significant role. Since studies about new venture
internationalisation are so heavily grounded in the high tech sector, little is known about the factors
that affect the internationalisation of firms in the low tech sector. This raises the possibility that
past findings do not generalize equally well to all economic sectors (Zahra George, 2002).
Furthermore, little research has been done about how environmental factors influence new venture
internationalisation, and more research is necessary to find out how these factors influence early
internationalisation (Fernhaber, 2007). Environmental factors are factors that a firm cannot control,
and that are part of the external environment they operate in (Zou and Stan, 1998). These factors
can have a significant push and pull effect on new ventures to internationalise

Comback of Steroids in Sport
By the end of the 21st century steroids will be permitted in every professional sport.
Professional sports can put as many limitations on what athletes can take but it will never be
enough. Many athletes will have enough money to overcome these limitations. They may still
get caught with the drugs but they have enough money to control the media so people won t see
what they did. There is only one way to level the playing field. The only way is to make steroids
legal in professional sports. In the article, Why it s Time to Legalize Steroids in Professional
Sports by Chris Smith, he says, Not only would the playing field suddenly be even for all
players, it would be at a higher level. I think that this is exactly true. Legalizing steroids would
make the sports more entertaining. Athletes in the sport will be able to play at a higher level.
Chris Smith also said, It also makes sense for professional sports to allow steroids from a
business standpoint. People will pay more money to watch the upper level athletes perform. If
steroids were legal it would make drug stores more money because more people would be
buying steroids. Not only will the legalization of steroids benefit the sport, it will benefit other
businesses as well. Athletes will have a choice of if they want to do steroids or not. There are
many side effects of using steroids. One of the side effects is that the body will stop producing
natural testosterone. The next side effect is that steroids cause

calculations and the algebraic manipulation of the price equation for the bond. In addition to solving
the problem, write a 100 to 200 word essay on the term structure of fixed income securities.
One method used to obtain an estimate of the term structure of interest rates is called
bootstrapping. Suppose you have a one year zero coupon bond with a rate of r1 and a two year
bond with an annual coupon payment of C. To bootstrap the two year rate, you can set up the
following equation for the price (P) of the coupon bond: /(1+r_1 )+(C_2+Par value)/(1+r_2 )^2
Because you can observe all of the variables except r2, the spot rate for two years, you can solve
for this interest rate. Suppose there is a zero coupon bond with one year to maturity that sells for
$949 and a two year bond with a 7.5 percent coupon paid annually that sells for $1,020. What is
the interest rate for two years? Suppose a bond with three years until maturity and an 8.5 percent
annual coupon sells for $1,029. What is the interest rate for three

When it comes to communicating with people in our daily lives, there are many people that think
there is just talking and listening to the other people in the communicating process. However, there
is actually five step in the communication process; which are as follows: 1.) sending the message
out to someone, 2.) sending the message through a medium, 3.) receiving the message ,
4.) understanding the message the person had sent, and 5.) giving your feedback to the individual
that had sent the message to you.

The
formal channel is the conventional method of communication in any police
department, which usually follows a chain of command. This kind of
communication channel is characterized by directives, written memorandums, and
formal orders. This type of communication gives a sense of security to a police
department, while at the same time provides a sense of order in the department.
There are some disadvantages to this type of communication, one is that it is very
time consuming and personnel consuming, Another disadvantage is that the formal
channel of communication has is that it effects the free flow of information between
the speaker and the receiver.
The formal channel can seem to be a hindrance to spontaneous thoughts and ideas.
There are also advantages to formal communication channels. The formal channel
provides the police organization with a type of consistency, because all officers
5 receive the same information. This is significant when there is information about a
crime, and t his information needs to get the officers that are out patrolling the area.
An informal channel of communication is basically departmental gossips. This
basically is an unofficial channel of communication within a police organization.
The information from these channels will not be seen on any black boards, emails,
or memos.

Abstract: Digital multipliers are along with the majority critical arithmetic functional units. The
general performance of the Digital multiplier systems depends on throughput of the multiplier. The
negative bias temperature instability effect occurs when a pMOS transistor is under negative bias
(Vgs = в€’Vdd), increasing the threshold voltage of a pMOS transistor and falling the multiplier
speed. In the same way, positive bias temperature instability occurs when an nMOS transistor is
under positive bias. Both effects degrade the speed of the transistor and in the long term, the
system may be fail due to timing violations. For that reason, it is required to design reliable high
performance multipliers. In this paper, we implement an aging aware multiplier design with a novel
adaptive hold logic (AHL) circuit. The multiplier is able to provide the higher throughput through
the variable latency and can adjust the adaptive hold logic

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Open Source Web Development

them as bankrupts in the society.
Many of them have assumed that there are no jobs at all in the IT industry and started losing their
faith on the private sector as a whole.
In fact, the reality is very different from that of our misconception. Even during the recession, the
industry was in need of some potential designers and developers. It was in search of skilled open

Absolutely no software cost:
Computer requires both the hardware and software for its smooth functioning. The computer
software costs more than the hardware, therefore, many users have been deprived of buying it.
Instead, they resort to use the illegal version of the software. This does not give them any legal right
to own, distribute or use the product in the open environment.
2. No virus attacks:
We often complain of many viruses on our computer, this causes the computer to be formatted at
least once a month. Besides this, we are constantly targeted by the spammers. This is primarily due
to, the 90% of the computer users highly depend on the commercial softwares for their daily
activities. Only the 10 % of the users depend on the open source applications. Therefore, all the
spammers and viruses aim at destroying the majority of computers.
Thus, there will always be a less scope for hackers for targeting the open source applications.
Let us take an example from Microsoft, every one of us uses the Windows as our preferred
operating system. We constantly receive warnings from spammers, viruses and other notifications
about the problems with our illegal versions of Windows. During such occasions, we can neither
contact the Microsoft since Windows has been manufactured by it, nor use the illegal and corrupted

Old Spice, Become a Man
Most of us have probably seen the Old Spice commercials with the confident and fast talking
Isaiah Mustafa, AKA The Old Spice Man. These commercials first began in early 2010 and have
since become a whole series of some of the most popular commercials on television and the internet.
But what is it about these ads that make them so appealing? To answer this question, this paper will
focus on the commercial that started it all: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. Although this ad
does surprisingly little to realistically describe the product it is advertising, its clever and difficult
to notice of all three first parts of appeal convinced many people to switch to Old Spice, and, at the
same time helped Old Spice reach a close connection with its target audience, this way embedding
itself into our popular culture.
Before getting into any analysis, I would like to give brief summary of how the ad goes forward.
Mustafa, in a bathroom wearing nothing but a towel, starts a speech which describes how anything
is possible when a man uses Old Spice body wash. In one continuous take, Mustafa moves from the
bathroom to a sailboat, to a sandy beach, and lastly, to horseback riding. The commercial ends with
Mustafa delivering the non sequitur punchline, I m on a horse, and the camera zooms out to show
the audience that Mustafa is in fact riding a horse. Also, Mustafa completes all this

the broadcast is so famous. The so called terror inducing (2) broadcast is famous because people

When one thinks about the Pope today, there is an image of an elderly man in robes who kisses
babies, makes broad statements about the policies or beliefs of the church, and travels around the
world meeting with the leaders of the world and the church. If one confers with Merriam Webster,
the word popeis defined as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, a definition that falls in line
with the thoughts of many, perhaps even most, people today. For those who are familiar with the
history of western civilization, the papacy is a newer development. The papacy and the Christian
church are tightly aligned with the Roman Empire, but the Empire underwent a variety of changes

use the knowledge of the musical elements to explore how Brumby has created each of the
characters in Festival Overture on Australian Themes and how all of the themes in the piece have

The intro of the piece Festival Overture on Australian Themes is uncertain in tonality, starting with
a flourish of notes for six bars, using woodwinds and strings, over bass tritones that go lower,
coming to a rest on B, the dominant of E.
The first subject; theme A, is a song called Jim Jones . It is written in E minor. The piece has a

This cheerful theme is played on violins. The Bullroarer is added here. The theme is then repeated,
after that there is a sudden change into using a full orchestra. Accents and sequences create an
unsettled mood and pushes the music forward. It then builds up in tension until the sound
overflows and comes to a stop at the chord of B. A short solo on bassoon re establishes the calm
and undisturbed character, needed for the return of the song Jim Jones. The piece Van Diemen s
Land is about Tasmania, formally named Van Diemen s Land, were all the convicts were sent to
pay for the crimes that they committed. The song talks about the hardships that the wild and
wicked youths will go through on Van Diemen s Land. The vigorous character of the theme
represents the power of the prison guards that hold the convicts there.

Censorship In Children s Literature
Censorship In Children s Literature Euphemism, a form of indirect censorship, is often used to
substitute certain phrases in order to soften their influence. The word dead becomes passed away ,
one who was once disabled is now physically impaired , and what used to be considered firing a
worker , is called employee termination . These euphemisms are used to protect their audience from
the reality, and although they sometimes serve to censor people from the truth, they ineffectively
protect children from explicit content in many forms of literature. Despite the fact that And Tango
Makes Three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, and Charlotte s Web by E.B. White are
excellent children novels that teach meaningful lessons,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the authors have tried to dampen the plot with the use of euphemisms, society feels
that stories, such as Richardson and Parnell s picture books, require further censorship. The authors
of And Tango Makes Three fail to show the hardships of being openly gay, and therefore mislead
young readers into thinking that it is as easy to be a homosexual in today s society as it is to be
a heterosexual. Children are given false hope as to what life will be like in the future if they are
to become homosexuals, and although it is certainly possible for a gay couple to live a simple
life like Roy and Silo, the reality is that there will be many more struggles for them to be openly
gay. Richardson and Parnell show Roy and Silo s struggles while they try to create a family as,
Day after day Silo and Roy sat on the rock, (Richardson and Parnell, 17), hoping they would
become like the other penguins in the zoo. However, this aspect of the story did not portray how
difficult it can be in reality for a gay couple to form a family. It is said that Roy and Silo are,
...just like the other penguin couples, (Richardson and Parnell, 12), which does not accurately
portray what life is like for homosexuals. The authors have created a perfect world for Roy and
Silo, where the only difference between them and the other penguins is that they are unable to
produce eggs themselves. Although this is a society that many dream of one that contains no
discrimination against homosexuality many areas in the world have not yet reached this level of
civility, which misleads children into thinking life as a homosexual will be as simple for them as
it was for Roy and Silo. In addition, E.B. White fails to show the harsh actions that farmers
typically take for animals that are considered to be useless. In reality,

Mood and Its Developement
Mood is the feeling the reader gets from reading a piece of literature. If it is properly made it can
be felt through the main character or the text. Many literary devices can aid the development of
mood in a passage. In Denn Die Todten Reiten Schnell, Stroker uses techniques of diction, types of
imagery, and elements of narrative stance to create a dominant impression of fear.
The author selects techniques of diction such as connotation, repetition, and onomatopoeia, to
establish the fear is the overall excerpt. He manipulates connotation to enhance the mood. As the
character is driven about the midnight landscape by the mysterious coachman, he notices the

Wild animals are technically never a sign of something good. They are wild, ferocious creatures
craving for flesh, meat and blood. One wolf is bad, but a ring of wolves can be great trouble. Now
wolves with long sinewy legs is not a good sight either. They help create the feeling of fear; the fear
of being devoured and never heard from again. It also helps the reader see the setting better and
making it more possible to apply themselves into that setting of fright.
The author picks personification to increase the impact of the mood of fear. As the travelers
pass the narrow roadway and are hemmed in with trees, they listen to the wind, which moaned
and whistled, like a person in great pain. Personifying the setting further develops the ominous
background the reader is experiencing. As the scenery is being brought to life the reader cannot
help, but to experience fright. The moaning and whistling of the wind acts like a psychological
distraction to the narrator. While nature is taking a form of it s own, he is being surrounded by
it and practically being captured and taunted by it. Point of view, tone, and persona are selected
by the author to reinforce the overarching impression of fear. Bram Stoker chooses first person
point of view to re apply the aura of fear to the excerpt. Psychologically the repetitive usage of the
pronoun I triggers the reader to refer to oneself as I therefore

because it might not only make them wistful, and thoughtful, but by proxy, less useful to them as
slaves. In order to keep slavery as a stable institution, it was important for many of the slave
owners in the text to make educating a slave something that could be punished. Well meaning
slave owners were heavily criticized for assisting a slave in his or her education and the fact that it
was illegal to teach a slave to read indicates the danger the white slave owning establishment sees as
inherent to education. In other words, by their fierce protection of the practices of education, the
slave owners were admitting that through education there is some kind of freedom, some way of
circumventing their absolute power.
Frederick Douglass became the most successful abolitionist who changed America s views of
slavery through his writings and actions. Frederick Douglass had many achievements throughout
his life. His Life as a slave had a great impact on his writings. His great oratory skills left the
largest impact on Civil War time period literature. Overall, he was the best black speaker and writer
ever. Illiteracy was an instrumental tool used to deprive slaves in an attempt to keep them ignorant

The Communist Manifesto By Bertell Ollman
After reading the Communist Manifesto, I was deeply thinking of how Marxism theory be applied
in contemporary society and how much benefit it brings to this developing modern world.
What will things be look like after the revolution could be a questions often put to Marxists. But the
answers are frequently unclear and vague. Since socialism emerges out of capitalism as a result of a
successful struggle against it by the working class, the specific measures introduced by the
revolutionary socialist government will depend on the particular economic especially, social and
political conditions at the time.
There is an article named Marx s Vision of Communism, which is written by Bertell Ollman, he
pointed that Marx constructed his version of communism out of the human and technological
possibilities already visible in his time, which given the priorities that would be adopted by a new
socialist society. Marx believes that the communist future from existing patterns and trends is an
integral part of his analysis of capitalism, and analysis which links social and economic problems
with the objective interests that affect each class to deal with them in distinctive ways; what
demonstrate the real possibilities inherent in a socialist transformation of the capitalist mode of
production. It might be in the sense that Marx (1967) claims that we do not anticipate the world
dogmatically, but rather wish to find the new world through the criticism of the old.

Anesthetic Machine Research Paper
A.An anesthetic machine is to deliver an exact amount of oxygen and anesthetic inhalant to patients
undergoing general anesthesia.
B.Gas delivery system and Anesthetic circuit
a.The gas delivery system is the first part of an anesthetic machine where the oxygen travels from
the start (the gas cylinder) to the fresh gas outlet.
i.The compressed air supply is oxygen and is in gas cylinders. The anesthetic vaporizer is where it
vaporizes the anesthetic inhalant; there is a precision vaporizer or a non precision vaporizer. The
flowmeter is what delivers the exact amount of the oxygen, and the oxygen flush valve delivers a
very high pressure of 100 % oxygen. The common gas outlet is when the carrier and anesthetic
gases leave the machine and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Work place safety practices always involve knowing what kinds of kinds of hazards are in the
work place. Hazards include short and long term effects of waste anesthetic gas, the storage for
compressed gas cylinders, and precautions of exposure to injectable anesthetic agents. A couple
of hazards of waste inhalant anesthetic gas would be inhaling the gases from the vaporizer, a
spill of the anesthetic liquid or the gas escaping the anesthetic machine during the time they are
under anesthesia. For handling the compressed gases properly, the use and storage of the
cylinders are critical. The cylinders need to be chained to the wall, they are required to be in an
upright position, keep away from anything that is flammable, they need to be put away from
areas in the clinic that are busy, and empty and full cylinders should be kept apart. Accidental
exposure to the injectable agents is not a good thing and the precautions are important to know.

Small Business Essay
The small business marketplace is extremely dynamic and the changes are fast. Here are some
encouraging facts from the US Small Business Administration on small businesses. There are about
30 million small businesses in the United States and employ just over half of the country s private
workforce. They employ a staggering 40% of high tech workers such as computer professionals,
scientists and engineers. More than half of the small businesses are home based businesses and two
percent of them are franchises. One of the most important aspects is the fact that a majority of
innovations in the United States come from small businesses.
In 2008, there were 627,200 new businesses that started, 596,600 businesses that were closed and

No business would abruptly go down and there will definitely be symptoms. If the entrepreneur
has difficulty in paying his bill, market for the product is shrinking and the customer sales is
coming down drastically, these are common signs that the company is not performing well.
Another red flag is when there is an increase in customer complaints, which clearly goes to show
that the business is failing to meet the needs of the customer. The entrepreneur should also
ensure that the balance between inventory and sales levels are correct. If the inventory levels
tend to climb at a faster rate than what the sales warrant, the company is at a risk of piling up the
inventory. When the business has more work than it can handle is another warning of the
enterprise not doing well. A lack of liquidity can also be a cause of business failure. Liquidity is
the speed at which an asset can be converted into cash and if the company does not have enough
liquid cash at its disposal, it can lead to their downfall. A new business venture that provides
products or services at the cheapest price in a desperate quest for making sales is also a sign of
struggle.
In order for a new venture to be successful, the management plays a vital role. When a business
grows, it can never be a one man show, but it needs the management as a whole to take
responsibility. An entrepreneur can have a business model that has the

The Rev. Joseph M. Colombe followed Father Pierre. He served from 1922 1937. He was born in
1885 in Quebec, Canada and became a naturalized citizen. His ministry was marked by
involvement in underserved populations in the parish. The economic struggles that marked Father
Pierre s term expanded. In January 1927, People s Bank was placed in receivership by the state

The Giliasso was constructed by fastening together the twin steel hulls of two standard
transportation barges, leaving space in the middle for drilling. Towed to location, the lower
compartments of the hulls were flooded, sinking the barge to the bottom. The upper
compartments remained above the water and provided a platform to hold the drilling structures,
equipment, and power plant. The Giliasso demonstrated its drilling capabilities immediately in
Lake Pelto, reducing by 20 percent the time spent on a well not related to drilling or completing,
and afterward proved its ease of mobility in being towed to Lake BarrГ© By 1935, Texaco had
built and deployed a fleet of seven such barges along the Louisiana coast, each drilling 6 wells per
year. By 1938, the industry had drilled 3,300 wells in parishes adjacent to the Gulf, 700 of which
were surrounded by water. The most active areas were in the Lake BarrГ©, Terrebonne Bay, Pelto

I.What is the media outlet? Trauma is frequently depicted in various forms of popular media.
Media outlets such as movies, television series, books, music, the daily news and any other
form of media have at least expressed a traumatic event. One of the media outlets that tend to
display trauma often are movies. Movies are powerful enough to have a massive impact on
society for various reasons. With its impact, movies can provide people who are in unfavorable
situation a sense of hope, fulfil the fantasy and dreams of both children and adults and overall
allow society to escape for an hour or two from their reality. Some movies such as Deepwater

War. A General of the Union army named William Tecumseh Sherman helped lead a campaign that
started in Georgia go the sea in Savannah, and finish to help aid the main forces in the Carolinas.
During this march the soldiers lived off the land and the Southern people s food and burning

Other soldiers gave up sleeping, when it got to cold, to sit in front of roaring fires (Kennett,
1995). The wind in the area sometimes combined with the rains and the cold air, nearly
knocking over the tents of the soldiers and making them freeze into the night. During Sherman s
March to the Sea, he made a stop at Georgia s then capital, Milledgeville. Sherman arrived in
Milledgeville encountering virtually no resistance from Confederate troops; for they were off
defending Macon and Augusta and various key bridges across rivers and gorges. The Georgia
governor had fled the town and took anything of value from the Executive Mansion, shortly
before Sherman arrived. Sherman took note of the bare house and its slim pickings and slept
inside along with some equipment and other soldiers for the next few days. News of Sherman s
capture of Georgia s capital helped break apart the will of the Confederate soldiers. After
Sherman s short rest he continued his march to Savannah where he could replenish his supplies.
Sherman arrived on the outskirts of Savannah on December 11, 1864. The city was occupied by
Confederate troops, and they had the city locked down. To help seize the city Sherman would
have to capture Fort McAllister to be able to safely advance to Savannah. Sherman sends 4,000
infantry to seize the fort. After a very brief struggle the fort is seized and is in control by Sherman,
and this fort gives him

Pros And Cons Of Eugenics
Eugenics, developed by an eminent scientist, Francis Galton, is the science of improving the
qualities of the human species or a human population by controlling breeding to increase the
occurrence of desirable heritable characteristic traits and decrease the occurrence of undesirable
characteristic traits or genetical defects (Bergman, 2000.) Eugenic sterilizationrefers to the
involuntary sterilizationof certain categories of individuals without their need for consent by those
subjected to the procedure (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Individuals classified as mentally deficient,
feeble minded, epileptic, promiscuous, sexual deviants, or persons classified as habitual
criminals were mainly targeted (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Eugenicists argued degenerate traits
tainted society through the reproduction of the lowest class and sterilization was to keep the
handicapped from perpetuating themselves (Kaelber, 2014.) In addition, eugenicists also argued
that feeble minded individuals were believed to be financial burdens to society by overcrowding
prisons, hospitals and living off welfare (Kaelber, 2014.) Sterilization was seen as a way to
prevent the spending of tax dollars on the feeble minded (Kaelber, 2014.) These arguments allowed
Eugenicsto become an acceptable practice. Advocates believed that getting rid of the feeble minded
and mentally deficient would decrease the undesirable characteristic traits within the human gene
pool and ultimately improve the human population.

Western Illinois University Leadership Analysis
In my time here at Western Illinois University, my vision of what leadership consist of has
changed. Through my experiences as a leader I have grown and seen the roles of a leadership, be

the intuitive of leadershipbe displayed in three different forms. Leadership to me could be as
simple as a member of an organization having an idea for an event and for example them taking
the leadership role in developing a plan, delegating task and going over and beyond to making the
event successful. Then there is a member of the organization that takes on a leadership position on

Analysis Of The Novel Night
Adrian Tineo

25 Sept. 2015
Night
The novel Night is a vivid representation of a man s loss of faith from the beginning to the end of
the catastrophic era in which this book takes place. As a young boy Elie s inquisitive mind
directed him to the synagogue where he would study the Kabbalah s revelations and mysteries.
Here is where Moishe the beadle, a friend to Elie, would sit with him in the synagogue and they
would talk for hours about the intriguing secrets of Jewish mysticism. One important piece of
advice that Moishe told Elie was, There are a thousand and one gates allowing entry into the
orchard of the mystical truth. This simply meant he would need to pursue these answers on his
own. However, Elie believed Moishe would help him bind his questions and answers as well, into
one. These meetings were interrupted when Moishe was extracted from the Sighet where he
experienced malice.
He then returned to Sighet after being left for dead and managing to escape from the Gestapo.
Moishe witnessed atrocious behavior that affected him profoundly. When he returned, he was not
the same person, the vitality in his eyes had perished. He told everyone what he had seen, but no
one would pay attention to his words. Even after hearing Moishe s words of warning they labeled
him mad. Not convinced of the stories Moishe spoke of, their normal lives kept on. This indicates
that the Jews refused to acknowledge what fate had laid ahead.

Lewis God Almighty Chapter 1 Summary
Lewis begins chapter two with God Almighty, by questioning the meaning of God s omnipotence.
He asserts that God s omnipotence means that God does not have the power to do anything but God
does have power to do anything that is consistent with his nature. God has the power to do all that is
intrinsically possible, not to do the intrinsically impossible. We may attribute miracles to him, but
not nonsense. Lewis then suggests that not even Gods omnipotencecould create men with free wills
without at the same time creating a relatively independent and unavoidable nature. Lewis
establishes a universe where free souls can communicate with one another and have free will. That
man, possessing this free will, may take advantage of the laws of

Parent Monitoring
Do your parent s monitor or control what do you on your phone? If so, I disagree with this I think
children should have full access to their phones without their parents monitoring it. Parents should
not be allowed to control or monitor their kid s social media.
To begin, there is a fine line where parents can control and watch over their children on social
media. Watching over a kid and controlling them will make them want to do the stuff that you
aren t letting them do, for example, if you watch over your kid s phone they will find a way to be
able to bypass it or won t use their phone. The article says, There s considerable evidence that
intruding on kids privacy damages the parent child relationship, says Petronio. When parents
snoop, they show mistrust, she says. That overarching need for control really damages the
relationship. (Parents Shouldn t Spy on Their Kids). The reason that I chose this quote is that this

  • 2. Western Influence in China and Japan Essay China and Japan are two unique civilizations that went through similar, yet vastly different changes throughout their histories. Their growth and response to other nations differed in many ways in government, lifestyle, and general well being. One of the main causes for such difference between the countries is the way the West influenced each region, and the way Chinaand Japan responded to this influence. China focused more on the idea of being a status oriented society, while Japan was more goal oriented based. In China, anyone had the ability to better themselves and change their status through civil examinations given by the government. Western impact however slowly changed this old age system. Japan s caste system viewed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life was not idle in China as everyone had something to do. Based on Confucian values, groups and classes respected each other and their work knowing the value of each. Chiang s father further demonstrated this by being an honest and generous man, respected by the people of the village in particular and surrounding districts generally (Chiang 29). By giving honor and reverence to others, Chiang s father in turn received such respect. His benevolence was noticed by the community and thus treated him in a higher light. However, relation with other classes was not always bright, especially in other nations. Chiang describes his encounters in America as he says California was not so hospitable a land socially for the Chinese as to make on feel congenial or at ease (Chiang 68). Regardless of being part of the elite class, he was not always treated with the utmost status. Skin color and national origin created barriers between individuals and societies in general. Chinese elite s relations with the other classes embodied more than the typical notion of master and servant. Individuals were respected for their own work and valued for what they brought to China. Fukuzawa in his autobiography details his relation with the lower classes in an act of respect and equality. Because he was originally born into a low rank family, he held those under him as ... He is a great politician and also a very smart man. He is what this country needs to bring us out of the dark hole that we have been sitting in these past few years. He is the man with the plan and will turn this country back around to where it needs to be! • 4. The Loudest Duck By Laura A. Liswood Throughout the book The Loudest Duck by Laura A. Liswood, we learn about what it means to be truly diverse and how to obtain this diversity. The book gives many examples of how and why it is important for companies to be diverse. Through this paper I will be outlining the main points the other made and share some of the lessons I feel are important. The first few chapters outline the main problems with diversity that business deal with. While the rest of the book goes deeper in to the issues and ways to overcome or avoid the problems to create a truly diverse institute. The author gives background into the Noah s Ark theory as well as the grandma effect. She also talks about the dynamics of dominate and non dominate groups in the work place as she relates them to the Elephant and Mouse theory. The first theory the book looks at is the Noah s Ark theory. The author explains that organizations often try to become diverse using the Noah s ark model which simply means they try to have one or more employees that meets each of the minorities. That is, they hire men women and people of color rather than just hiring the people who are most like them. This raises more problems than it solves because people are being hired for who they are rather than the skills that they possess. In this type of situation people who are more qualified for a job may be pushed aside in order to hire someone who meets the company s diversity needs. Instead of following this Noah s Ark model ... • 5. Advantages to the Industrial Revolution in Early Modern... Prior to industrialization, the population of Europe saw a dramatic growth from 110,000,000 to 190,000,000. What triggered this growth? Likely the end of feudalism. The end of feudal contracts gave people a little more say in their day to day working activities, resulting in more time spent at home, which ultimately resulted in childbearing. This would leave citizens scrambling both to provide needs for the populationas a whole, and to improve the individuals overall quality of life. This resulted in economists, like Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations (1776), examining the most cost effective method of producing the goods and services citizens demanded (such as clothing and food). It also left others, such as Thomas Malthus in his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was essential because the population boom that occurred from 1650 1800, where population climbed from 110,000,000 to 119,000,000, created the need for materials food and clothing to be produced faster to sustain growth. Machines such as the scribbling mill, and spinning jenny did the work of a hundred hands, for every single human hand. Initially these machines were met by workers with despair, as one machine in twelve hours could do the work of ten men by hand . These machines also reduced labour by a third, which resulted in an increase in wage for workers and it also worked to increase trade since nations were about to compete with one another for cheaper resources . From an economic standpoint this shift in labour was beneficial to the masses because instead of people exerting themselves to compete with other nations, machinery could just take on the majority of the work, assisting in this movement. This benefitted business owners because they did not need as many labourers, and they could also afford to lower taxes. Smith declares the invisible hand as a necessity for society because capitalism drives people to seek cheaper sources, and in return if you provide that you will ultimately gain wealth. Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations that division of labour was the greatest improvement resulting from the industrial revolution. Division of labour was beneficial to both the employee and the employer. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A main point would question the parents of the future child/children regarding their ability to have a stable income and a big enough house to accommodate the growth in their family. • 10. Felix Mendelssohn The characterization of the musical production of Felix Mendelssohn requires the acknowledgement of two key observations: the essentially classical structure of Mendelssohn s compositions and the frequent romantic innovations Mendelssohn employed. Mendelssohn was a conservative fixture in an era of radical upheaval the early nineteenth century. Intellectually in Europe, this was an era of transition, as the romantics sought to upend the enlightenment establishment across all areas of artistic, scientific and cultural production: whether the orderly structures of classical music, the faith in reason and scientific progress that animated Enlightenment tracts and polemics, the embrace of technological progress, or the vehement rejection of superstitions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For all that doubt such a proclamation, consider the evidence: he wrote numerous compositions including 5 operas and 11 symphonies during his boyhood (5 16 years old) for string orchestras, concerti, sonatas and fugues. Mendelssohn started with piano lessons from his mother before moving on to a series of tutors to nurture his musical interests. To trace the root of Mendelssohn s inclinations for classical and baroque forms, specifically his deep appreciation for Bach, it is perhaps instructive to focus on one key figure in Mendelssohn s childhood, his tutor Carl Friedrich Zelzter and his aunt Sarah Levy. Mendelssohn absorbed Zeltzer s conservative tastes and Levy s passion for Bach during the numerous composition and piano lessons Mendelssohn had with these two figures. This musical enculturation perhaps explains in part Mendelssohn s fondness for classical structures as well as his deep appreciation for an imitation of the forms and styles of Johan Christian Bach. In 1821 Mendelssohn had the fortune to meet Goethe, the great German poet responsible for the likes of Faust. The meeting of the musical prodigy and the prolific poet was one of mutual admiration, and Goethe s poems proved a source of several of Mendelssohn s musical creations. During a series of years starting in 1829 Mendelssohn visited several localities in Great Britain and the Italic Peninsula, including Venice, Rome and Naples. His visits and interactions with ... The company that I work for tends to scope out available spaces to grow the company. They aren t particularly picky in the choices that they make if they believe that the store will make them money. They want to be able to be diverse in their locations and experience the best of both worlds. We have locations that come in all different shapes and sizes. The most frequent being freestanding sites and also ones that are enclosed in malls. Not alot of places down here have attractions inside of malls and I m not exactly sure how it looks up north. It s interesting though because the foot traffic that comes along with the stores based in malls is amazing. You can attract customers who weren t even planning to come to the store, but they come in to check it out and end up spending money. Cresswell is wrong by this fact in the actual fact that if a young teen is suffering from anorexia, then the parents should be worried about their child and get that child help. No child or adult should have to suffer from such disease. Cresswell also states These can be early life pressures, stress, and ultimately dieting, he says. For some people, dieting can be really dangerous behavior. The reduction in certain nutrients can alter gene expression (Cresswell 1 2). Each palpable explanation and theoretical generalization of society and social behavior that sociologists provide, contribute to the understanding of complex behaviors we demonstrate everyday. Pioneering sociologists introduced a broad conceptualization of the fundamentals of society. These views are now the basis of which today s theoretical perspectives are formed. Functionalist Perspective According to the Functionalist Perspective, also known as functionalism, each aspect of society is interdependent and the parts its people have in it all contribute to society s functioning as a whole. Largely based on the works of Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott Parsons, and Robert Merton, functionalism states that society is a system of interconnected parts that rely on each other to maintain balance and social equilibrium. Functionalism emphasizes the interconnectedness of society by focusing on the relationships and influences present in each part of society. Terms as functional and dysfunctional are often used by sociologists focusing on functionalism. Elements are said to be functional if they contribute to social stability and dysfunctional if they break the pattern of stability. (Crossman, 2017) Functionalists are described to defend the status quo, avoid social change, and believe people cooperate to effect social order. Functionalism addresses society as a whole by standards of norms, customs, traditions, and institutions. Now, children as well as the teachers get out for some much needed relaxation. So why do we still follow the same schedule? It seems every school year the discussion of year round education captures the attention of the general public. Is it time for year round education(YRE) to be the new norm? Ultimately, there are not that many pros for year round schooling to be the new thing and the traditional 180 day schedule should be kept. Many schools across the America have tried implementing year round education. However, some school districts that tried YRE go back to the 180 day schedule (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1). When year round education is proposed most of the time opposition is met. In 1992, parents of a possible pilot school were surveyed on their thoughts. 59% of the parents responded. There was an overwhelming amount of rejection. Just 10% of those surveyed favored YRE where 83% were against (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1). So why is there such opposition for year round school? The concerns seem to arise with the idea of taking away summer vacation. Most cite that both the students and the teachers need a break from school. This also the time where many families have vacation. Summer is the time where family spend time together without homework and project due dates looming over the students. The experiences within the house can be explained through several different theories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the numerous dowsing hits found in the house can be attributed to the priming or bias of the people conducting the dowsing sweeps. They might be unaware of the priming and the bias caused by following or trying to repeat the results of another. In addition to the dowsing hits, the psychological theory of explanation is also supported by the reports of hearing voices that are not actually there. This can be attributed to a lack of sleep causing hallucinations, fueled by a self fulfilling prophecy, like purposefully looking for a specific piece of evidence in your data until you find it, and can even be attributed to hearing damage or impairment due to health problems or old age. Another possible explanation for the hauntings can be seen with deja vu, or the experiencing of intense familiarity with something in the present environment that leads you to believe you have experienced it before. An exemplification of this theory can be seen when Robin experienced feelings of familiarity while listening to a song during one of the vigils, but could not place where she had heard it before. This feeling of familiarity is derived by the brain s inability to recall the information related to the potential memory, and is sometimes referred to as the tip of the tongue phenomena. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 518). Research Question Although a big part of German exports consist of low technology products, almost all research about factors influencing internationalisation of new ventures, has been done focusing on companies that operate in the high technology industry. The environment in which these firms operate is very different from the environment in which low technology firms operate. High technology firms face high R D costs, short product life cycles and mostly operate in niche markets (Knight Cavusgill, 2004). These conditions are very different for low tech firms (Evers, 2010). Here, R D costs and product life cycles play no significant role. Since studies about new venture internationalisation are so heavily grounded in the high tech sector, little is known about the factors that affect the internationalisation of firms in the low tech sector. This raises the possibility that past findings do not generalize equally well to all economic sectors (Zahra George, 2002). Furthermore, little research has been done about how environmental factors influence new venture internationalisation, and more research is necessary to find out how these factors influence early internationalisation (Fernhaber, 2007). Environmental factors are factors that a firm cannot control, and that are part of the external environment they operate in (Zou and Stan, 1998). These factors can have a significant push and pull effect on new ventures to internationalise

The general performance of the Digital multiplier systems depends on throughput of the multiplier. The negative bias temperature instability effect occurs when a pMOS transistor is under negative bias (Vgs = в€’Vdd), increasing the threshold voltage of a pMOS transistor and falling the multiplier speed. In the same way, positive bias temperature instability occurs when an nMOS transistor is under positive bias. Both effects degrade the speed of the transistor and in the long term, the system may be fail due to timing violations. For that reason, it is required to design reliable high performance multipliers. In this paper, we implement an aging aware multiplier design with a novel adaptive hold logic (AHL) circuit. Gregory And Papacy Essay When one thinks about the Pope today, there is an image of an elderly man in robes who kisses babies, makes broad statements about the policies or beliefs of the church, and travels around the world meeting with the leaders of the world and the church. If one confers with Merriam Webster, the word popeis defined as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, a definition that falls in line with the thoughts of many, perhaps even most, people today. For those who are familiar with the history of western civilization, the papacy is a newer development. The papacy and the Christian church are tightly aligned with the Roman Empire, but the Empire underwent a variety of changes and no longer exists, and yet, the Roman Catholic Church and its head are still intact. During his time as monk, Pope Pelagius II appointed him ambassador to the court at Constantinople. Pelagius later required the help of Gregory and his monks, during a time of rampant flooding and disease, for various projects throughout Rome, including sanitation, burial and feeding of the poor. , When Pelagius died, the clergy and people unanimously elected Gregory to the empty see. While unwanted, Gregory continued the city reformation projects that he began under Pelagius with an admirable zeal. This analysis of Festival Overture on Australian Themes written by Colin Brumby in 1981; will use the knowledge of the musical elements to explore how Brumby has created each of the characters in Festival Overture on Australian Themes and how all of the themes in the piece have been linked together to create the work. The intro of the piece Festival Overture on Australian Themes is uncertain in tonality, starting with a flourish of notes for six bars, using woodwinds and strings, over bass tritones that go lower, coming to a rest on B, the dominant of E. A short solo on bassoon re establishes the calm and undisturbed character, needed for the return of the song Jim Jones. The piece Van Diemen s Land is about Tasmania, formally named Van Diemen s Land, were all the convicts were sent to pay for the crimes that they committed. • 37. Censorship In Children s Literature Censorship In Children s Literature Euphemism, a form of indirect censorship, is often used to substitute certain phrases in order to soften their influence. The word dead becomes passed away , one who was once disabled is now physically impaired , and what used to be considered firing a worker , is called employee termination . These euphemisms are used to protect their audience from the reality, and although they sometimes serve to censor people from the truth, they ineffectively protect children from explicit content in many forms of literature. Despite the fact that And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, and Charlotte s Web by E.B. White are excellent children novels that teach meaningful lessons,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though the authors have tried to dampen the plot with the use of euphemisms, society feels that stories, such as Richardson and Parnell s picture books, require further censorship. The authors of And Tango Makes Three fail to show the hardships of being openly gay, and therefore mislead young readers into thinking that it is as easy to be a homosexual in today s society as it is to be a heterosexual. Children are given false hope as to what life will be like in the future if they are to become homosexuals, and although it is certainly possible for a gay couple to live a simple life like Roy and Silo, the reality is that there will be many more struggles for them to be openly gay. Richardson and Parnell show Roy and Silo s struggles while they try to create a family as, Day after day Silo and Roy sat on the rock, (Richardson and Parnell, 17), hoping they would become like the other penguins in the zoo. However, this aspect of the story did not portray how difficult it can be in reality for a gay couple to form a family. It is said that Roy and Silo are, ...just like the other penguin couples, (Richardson and Parnell, 12), which does not accurately portray what life is like for homosexuals. The authors have created a perfect world for Roy and Silo, where the only difference between them and the other penguins is that they are unable to produce eggs themselves. Although this is a society that many dream of one that contains no discrimination against homosexuality many areas in the world have not yet reached this level of civility, which misleads children into thinking life as a homosexual will be as simple for them as it was for Roy and Silo. In addition, E.B. White fails to show the harsh actions that farmers typically take for animals that are considered to be useless. In reality, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Mood and Its Developement Mood is the feeling the reader gets from reading a piece of literature. If it is properly made it can be felt through the main character or the text. Many literary devices can aid the development of mood in a passage. In Denn Die Todten Reiten Schnell, Stroker uses techniques of diction, types of imagery, and elements of narrative stance to create a dominant impression of fear. The author selects techniques of diction such as connotation, repetition, and onomatopoeia, to establish the fear is the overall excerpt. He manipulates connotation to enhance the mood. One wolf is bad, but a ring of wolves can be great trouble. Now wolves with long sinewy legs is not a good sight either. They help create the feeling of fear; the fear of being devoured and never heard from again. It also helps the reader see the setting better and making it more possible to apply themselves into that setting of fright. The author picks personification to increase the impact of the mood of fear. As the travelers pass the narrow roadway and are hemmed in with trees, they listen to the wind, which moaned and whistled, like a person in great pain. Personifying the setting further develops the ominous background the reader is experiencing. As the scenery is being brought to life the reader cannot help, but to experience fright. The moaning and whistling of the wind acts like a psychological distraction to the narrator. While nature is taking a form of it s own, he is being surrounded by it and practically being captured and taunted by it. Point of view, tone, and persona are selected by the author to reinforce the overarching impression of fear. Bram Stoker chooses first person point of view to re apply the aura of fear to the excerpt. Although Frederick Douglass understands that the only path to freedom, both for himself and fellow slaves, is through learning to read, write, and have an educational base to build on, he is at the same time disgusted with education because it causes him to understand the full extent of the horrors of slavery. It is by far in the best interest of the slave owner to keep the slaves ignorant of concepts of freedom or education because it might not only make them wistful, and thoughtful, but by proxy, less useful to them as slaves. In order to keep slavery as a stable institution, it was important for many of the slave owners in the text to make educating a slave something that could be punished. Well meaning slave owners were heavily criticized for assisting a slave in his or her education and the fact that it was illegal to teach a slave to read indicates the danger the white slave owning establishment sees as inherent to education. In other words, by their fierce protection of the practices of education, the slave owners were admitting that through education there is some kind of freedom, some way of circumventing their absolute power. Frederick Douglass became the most successful abolitionist who changed America s views of slavery through his writings and actions. Frederick Douglass had many achievements throughout his life. The Communist Manifesto By Bertell Ollman After reading the Communist Manifesto, I was deeply thinking of how Marxism theory be applied in contemporary society and how much benefit it brings to this developing modern world. What will things be look like after the revolution could be a questions often put to Marxists. But the answers are frequently unclear and vague. Since socialism emerges out of capitalism as a result of a successful struggle against it by the working class, the specific measures introduced by the revolutionary socialist government will depend on the particular economic especially, social and political conditions at the time. There is an article named Marx s Vision of Communism, which is written by Bertell Ollman, he pointed that Marx constructed his version of communism out of the human and technological possibilities already visible in his time, which given the priorities that would be adopted by a new socialist society. Marx believes that the communist future from existing patterns and trends is an integral part of his analysis of capitalism, and analysis which links social and economic problems with the objective interests that affect each class to deal with them in distinctive ways; what demonstrate the real possibilities inherent in a socialist transformation of the capitalist mode of production. Eugenic sterilizationrefers to the involuntary sterilizationof certain categories of individuals without their need for consent by those subjected to the procedure (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Individuals classified as mentally deficient, feeble minded, epileptic, promiscuous, sexual deviants, or persons classified as habitual criminals were mainly targeted (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Eugenicists argued degenerate traits tainted society through the reproduction of the lowest class and sterilization was to keep the handicapped from perpetuating themselves (Kaelber, 2014.) In addition, eugenicists also argued that feeble minded individuals were believed to be financial burdens to society by overcrowding prisons, hospitals and living off welfare (Kaelber, 2014.) Sterilization was seen as a way to prevent the spending of tax dollars on the feeble minded (Kaelber, 2014.) These arguments allowed Eugenicsto become an acceptable practice. Advocates believed that getting rid of the feeble minded and mentally deficient would decrease the undesirable characteristic traits within the human gene pool and ultimately improve the human population. ...
