Sustainable Solution for Shoring Method of Cross-Creek Bridge in Ankeng MRT S...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
In the Ankeng Light Rail MRT system (ALRMS) project, the U7 box girder passes crossing the Erbads creek and needs a temporary supporting system for the construction work. In this study, three temporary shoring system options were proposed to be the construction method. The D-B Contractor, New Asia construction and Development Corporation, evaluated and selected the optimal choice, The Steel truss frame with supporting beams, to serve as the temporary supporting system. Compare the deflection of Δmax and Δactual, which are 1.609 cm and 1.59 cm, respectively. This result presented that the shoring system composed of the H912*302*18*37 supporting beams and steel truss frame had achieved outstanding performance and work to construct the U7 box girder. This paper presents how the three options are evaluated and the detailed construction processes along with the survey verification for the method.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Go not to the temple to put flowers upon the feet of God,
First fill your own house with the fragrance of love...
Go not to the temple to light candles before the altar of God,
First remove the darkness of sin from your heart...
Go not to the temple to bow down your head in prayer,
First learn to bow in humility before your fellowmen...
Go not to the temple to pray on bended knees,

Go not to the temple to ask for forgiveness for your sins,

It is indeed heartening to note that the construction of Electric Loco Assembly and Ancillary Unit of CLW
DankunihasbeencompletedinarecordtimebytheKolkataPIUofRVNL.
This Project was transferred by Railway Board to RVNL in May 2012 for execution on a fast track basis.
Subsequent to the awarding of the contract, physical workcommenced in December 2012 and the project
has been completed in January 2015. This endeavor has been widely appreciated by senior officials
including Member Electrical and GM/CLW during their inspections. In the past two years, RVNL has also
been able to complete the construction of Diesel Loco Component Factory, Dankuni and DMU Factory at
Haldia. These factories were also completed in record time and have already been handed over to
Railways for use. Further, RVNL has been mandated to execute the expansion of DLW/ Varanasi for which
th
Shri Narendra Modi Hon'ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on 25 December 2014 and work
wasalsocommencedonthesameday.
The Electric Loco Assembly and Ancillary Unit of CLW Dankuni includes certain special features such as
700 meter long shed, 6 Nos. of EOT cranes,1 traverser, 2 electric sub-stations, staff quarters, store ward
with pre-engineered building, administrative building, solar panel on top of sub- station, drainage
system, water supply along with overhead tank, water treatment plant and track connectivity from
Dankuniyard.
I take this opportunity to compliment Kolkata PIU for successfully completing this project in record time
and for bringing out a Coffee Table Book to record this achievement. This is a great achievement and I

TrackProjectImplementationbyRVNL
Background:
CLW started in 1950s with production of Steam Engines and gradually transformed to Electric Loco production unit from 1970s with
conventional 25 KG tap changer type Electric Locomotives with DC Motors. With advancement of technology it has started manufacturing
ofstateoftheartIGBTbased3phaselocomotives.
However, as CLW has transformed from steam engine manufacturing to 3 phase locos, there has always been constraint in modernizing
infrastructuretoadoptmodernmanufacturingpracticesandincreasetheproductioncapacity.
Implementation details:
ELAAUC (Electric Loco Assembly and Ancillary Unit of CLW) at Dankuni has been implemented on a very fast track to augment the
production capacity of electric locos in Indian Railways at Chittaranjan. Railway Board (Ministry of Railways) advised RVNL vide letter dt.

• Quality Management- Detailed quality assurance programmes & quality control plans were made for all the projects. General
Manager, during his inspection recorded in the inspection note about the quality and asked the officials of other Railways to visit for
thequalitycontrolmeasuresadopted.
Quality assurance:
For fast track implementation of the projects, it was necessary that the aspects related to quality should not at all be compromised. If
Quality assurance and control is not done properly, the work cannot be done on fast track and the project would go into a vicious cycle and
likelytobedelayed.
A Quality Assurance programme was prepared along with a quality control plan. The objective of quality assurance programme
was to ensure the construction activities are carried out in a systematic manner and quality of construction work is in conformity with the
approvedspecifications,drawings,etc.Itwasbasedonthefollowingqualitysystemprocedure:
• Document Control • Material Control • Non-conformance Control
• Procurement Control • Training of Personnel • Production Control
• Setout control
Control of processes and special processes were exercised through a series of instruction documents designated as Method Statements
(MS)andQualityControlPlans(QCP).
