Main project Features:
The overall Project development objective is enhancement of electricity generation capacity to help reduce power
shortages in the country. The Tarbela 4th Extension Project proposes to add additional generation to the existing
3,478 MW hydropower installed at Tarbela. The proposed project would have an installed capacity of 1,410 MW.
This would be achieved by installing three (3) new turbines and generators onto the existing irrigation Tunnel 4 which
will be converted into power without affecting the existing irrigation release capabilities from Tarbela.

Karot Hydropower Station is the 4th station in five cascade hydropower stations planed around Jhelum River within

km2. Long term average runoff is 819m3/s. Long term average annual runoff is 25,830 million m3. The project is the
hydropower complex with generating electricity. Full Supply Level of the reservoir is 461m. Installed capacity of the
power station is 720 MW (4×180MW)

• For 340MW Gahrait Swir Lasht HPP, the weir site is proposed about 35 km downstream of Chitral Town. The
project layout is proposed on the right bank of Chitral Valley with weir site about 35 km downstream of Chitral
and powerhouse site about 8 km downstream of Drosh Town near Swir Lasht Village. The national grid at
Chakdara is in a distance of about 170 km from the powerhouse site.
• The proposed 52MW Istaru-Booni Hydropower Project (IB HPP) has its weir site located on Turkho River about
2 km downstream of Istaru Village. The powerhouse site is proposed on the right bank of Mastuj River near
Booni Town. Both weir and powerhouse sites are accessible from Booni Town by a jeepable road.

(Lower).”
• Lawi Hydropower Project is located about 40 km short of Chitral city in the northern most district of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. Chitral lies from 35°-15' to 36°- 55' North and 71°-12' to 73°-55' East. Lawi
Hydropower Project (69MW) is aimed to develop indigenous, non-polluting and renewable source of energy to
help meet KP’s power shortage and improve the quality and reliability of the power system, especially in

Main project Features:
(i) Corumana Dam Project having generation capacity of 14.5 MW is proposed to be raised to its full supply level.
The main purpose for constructing the dam was to supply water for downstream irrigated agriculture while a
secondary purpose was generation of hydroelectric energy (14.5 MW installed capacity).
The National Directorate of Water commissioned this feasibility study (Basic Design) in order to investigate the
economic viability of installing the gates and constructing the saddle dam and emergency spillway, thereby
allowing the full supply level to be raised to el 117 masl and for the firm water yield and firm energy yield to be
increased.
(ii) Ressano Garcia measuring weir has a crump type crest, a compound weir with crests at multiple levels ranging
from the lowest V notch set. A gauging tower is also provided to house the controls for the scouring gates,
gauging equipment and the pump station required for water supply to Ressano Garcia. Scour gates have been
provided to flush incoming sediment to minimise the possibility of silting of the outlets from the weir and intake. A
fish ladder is also provided. A measuring weir is also provided to measure the flow through the fish ladder.
(iii) Metuchira Dam: 3.5m high concrete dam with ogee shaped overflow Spillway. Basic purpose is to supply water
to Metuchira Village.
(iv) Gorongosa Dam: 5.24m high concrete dam with 55m wide ogee shaped overflow spillway. Basic purpose is to
provide Water supply to Gorongosa Village and power supply to Pump station.

Main project Features:
The Shogo - Sin Hydropower Project is planned on Lutkho River about 0.5 km downstream of Shogho village in the
area of Chitral region, central place Chitral located about 365 km from Peshawar. The purpose of the Project is to
produce Electric Power of 131 MW. The reservoir length will be 700 m and area will be 74300 m2
. The Shushghai-
Zhendoli Hydropower Project is planned on Turkho River in the area of Chitral region, central place Chitral located
about 365 km from Peshawar. The purpose of the Project is to produce Electric Power of 144 MW. The reservoir
length will be 636 m and area will be 5.7687 Hectares.

31 km upstream from the Domel Bridge. The Kohala hydropower project consists of dam 52m high, water
conveyance system and underground powerhouse with 17 km twin headrace tunnels.

Main project Features: (i) Corumana Dam Project having generation capacity of 14.5 MW is proposed to be raised to its full supply level. The main purpose for constructing the dam was to supply water for downstream irrigated agriculture while a secondary purpose was generation of hydroelectric energy (14.5 MW installed capacity). The National Directorate of Water commissioned this feasibility study (Basic Design) in order to investigate the economic viability of installing the gates and constructing the saddle dam and emergency spillway, thereby allowing the full supply level to be raised to el 117 masl and for the firm water yield and firm energy yield to be increased. (ii) Ressano Garcia measuring weir has a crump type crest, a compound weir with crests at multiple levels ranging from the lowest V notch set. A gauging tower is also provided to house the controls for the scouring gates, gauging equipment and the pump station required for water supply to Ressano Garcia. Scour gates have been provided to flush incoming sediment to minimise the possibility of silting of the outlets from the weir and intake. A fish ladder is also provided. A measuring weir is also provided to measure the flow through the fish ladder. (iii) Metuchira Dam: 3.5m high concrete dam with ogee shaped overflow Spillway. Basic purpose is to supply water to Metuchira Village. (iv) Gorongosa Dam: 5.24m high concrete dam with 55m wide ogee shaped overflow spillway. Basic purpose is to provide Water supply to Gorongosa Village and power supply to Pump station.
