The key concern is the outdated operating system they use for their point of sale (POS) terminals.

GMU Video Interviews
For this week, I feel I have not done much advancement as I would have liked. The good thing is that I
am done with my initials interviews. I got help from my sister and we went to the Washington DC
Mall to pick random Americans. It was not easy. We had more rejections than collaborations. Each
time was more frustrating, but we got enough for such section. On the following day we went to GMU
campus for the same goal and we had three more participations. I end up placing only 5 participants
on the rough cut, because only that took 47 seconds. I may add two more participants, but I want to fill
the rest of the project first and I may use two more to fill up in case there is extra space to reach the 10
required minutes. What it has been frustrating is re doing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I could not figure it out how to use iMovie to make the sound stereo. Luckily on tonight s class the
video technician helped me by confirming that we cannot do that in iMovie yet, but gave me an
interesting suggestion on separating the audio as one single line, this of course once the video is ready,
and then transmitted to another single file to copy one more time as separate line on the same video.
We tried once with him and it looks like it will work. Second Problem was the narrative sound. After
the introduction interviews, the narrative voice volume drops tremendously to a really low volume. I
need to record this audio also with a mike so I can have the same quality and volume range as the
video portions. Other than those minor issues, I am scheduling my scholarly interviews for next week
and also over the weekend I am meeting with my artist friend who would help me with the animations.
I really need to start working on images. On the other hand, I cannot really start the images if I have
not yet made my script the necessary length to fit the requirements for this

Anxiety Negative Effects
Anxiety is a negative aspect of experiencing stress. It is the worry that is experienced due to fear of
failure Honeybourne (2003)
My Opinion
Anxiety is triggered mostly in the mind and is psychological. It can cause shaking, perspiration and
increased heart beat. Severe cases would need therapy and medication to help control it as it is more to
do with mental health rather than physical health.
Type of Anxiety
There are two types of anxieties
Trait anxiety which is an aspect of personality and part of an individual s pattern of behavior.
Someone with a high level of trait anxiety is likely to become worried in a variety of situations; even
non threatening situations.
State anxiety is a temporary, ever changing mood state that is an emotional response to any situation
considered threatening. For example, at the start of a show jumping event, the rider may have higher
levels of of state anxiety that settle down one the event begins. State anxiety levels may increase again
when coming up to a particularly high jumps and then be at their highest level when coming towards
the final jump which, if they were to clear up quickly and cleanly, would result in a win. There are two
types of state anxiety: Cognitive state anxiety is the amount you worry Somatic state anxiety relates to
your perception of the physiological changes that happen in a particular situation.
Causes of anxiety
Having to much stress can cause anxiety this is known as a negative effect of stress. An athlete may
get anxious if they have a fear of failing, fear of bad feedback from coaches and managers, fear of the
match or competition taking place for example in a world cup final, fear or an injury happening and
the athlete being out for a long time without any control
Symptoms of anxiety
Cognitive state anxiety relates to negative thoughts, nervousness and worry experienced in certain
situations. People that have cognitive state anxiety are likely to have concentration problems, fear and
bad decision making. The level of anxiety increase when the performance level decrease. When the
performers concentration drops their performance levels also decrease this is due to the mistakes they
have made during the match or game. When

History of Football Essay
HISTORY OF FOOTBALL The history of football is interesting as well as exciting, from the first
forms of the game ever played, to the multi million dollar organizations of today. The game continues
to evolve and change with the times. Football is a sport that evolved from many different games.
Football is mainly known as a different form of rugby or soccer, but there is more to the origin of the
game than just those two sports. Football games were played around the world before the game was
actually called football. Football is believed to have descended from a Greek game called Harpaston
(Source C). The rules in Harpaston were not very strict. Running, kicking, or passing the ball across
the goal line could earn points. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first professional games took place between athletic clubs. The first player to play for money was
William W. Pudge Heffelinger. Heffelinger played at Yale University where he made the Walter Camp
All American team for three straight years. Heffelinger was paid five hundred dollars to play a game
for the Allegheny Athletic Association of Pittsburgh. Heffelinger is known as the first professional
football player (Source H). The first professional to sign a contract was Grant Dilbert who signed with
the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. Soon after this, many teams started paying money for the best players.
On September 17 1920 representatives met to form the American Professional Football Association
(APFA) (Source H). In 1922 the APFA was renamed the National Football League (NFL). During this
time, any town that could fund the money was forming a football team, even two Philadelphia
baseball teams established professional football teams. During this time, professional football was not
as popular as college football. Due to betting and recruiting scandals, Americans were not as interested
in the NFL as they were in the collegiate games. The league reached an all time low in 1932 when it
had a membership of eight teams. However, over time the formation of legendary teams like the
Decatur Staleys, later renamed the Chicago Bears, and the small town Green Bay Packers, and also
due to the emergence of heroic players, this new league would win

Analysis Of Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, And A Tale Of...
Oliver s Twisted Story In February of 1837, Charles Dickens s first installment of Oliver Twist was
published. These installments continued to be published monthly until April of 1839. London during
this time period was split almost directly down the middle, the upper class and the lower class, the
middle being almost nonexistent. In the nineteenth century, the English government was ran adjacent
with the church, although the harsh truth of lower class cruelty corrupts this image. The country,
despite its relationship with the church, did not run on the concept of Christianity but the warped
perceptions of the Bible and the desire for money. Charles Dickens s Oliver Twist unknowingly
sparked the social changes in nineteenth century London by exposing the harsh conditions of the
lower class through the life of an innocent child.
Charles Dickens, born February 7, 1812, wrote many classic novels including Oliver Twist, A
Christmas Carol, and A Tale of Two Cities. Dickens grew up in a lower class family, because of that
his father, John Dickens, was arrested and put in jail for debt when Charles was twelve years old.
Soon after this, Dickens had to stop school and go into work at Warren s Blacking Factory, a shoe
polish factory (Cody). By the time his father was released and Dickens was able to leave the factory,
he had already suffered through many harsh conditions that affected him for the rest of his life. The
feeling of abandonment and betrayal he felt from that soon became

Effects Of Teen Drug Abuse. Many Teenagers Across The Country
Effects Of Teen Drug Abuse Many teenagers across the country experiment with drugs. While most of
them only do it once or twice, other teenagers or young adults create lifelong addictions. There are
many reasons why people try drugs, leaving a deadly and devastating effect on anyone unlucky
enough to be the person using or be close to the person using. Drugs can cause teens to begin abusing,
create health problems, get people in serious trouble, or even lead to death. As teenagers grow older,

They can receive felonies, be removed from their families because he family does not know how to

Advantages Of Keeping Opossums Away
Opossum Prevention Tips: How to Keep Opossums Away
Possums are generally non aggressive creatures, but capable of creating unsanitary environments.
They may even turn violent when diseased! There exists several methods to keep them away and this
involves simply making the setting less attractive. You could also put traps to imprison possums to be
able to physically get rid of them.
Here is what you must know concerning keeping opossums away. Opossums, as a general rule, stay
among the unmistakable North America animals just as they remain the lone marsupial living on the
continent. While they were native solely to the southern part of America before, they now are an
everyday sight right through the Southern and Eastern states of America. ... Show more content on

Do not allow your cat or dog, however, to roam freely through the backyard for this purpose. They can
end up fighting with violent possums and other daring animals if you do so. Instead, collect hair or fur
after grooming your pet and place the collected hair inside small net bags. Then, hang these bags or
directly scatter the hair around sections where possums are frequently seen.
3. Spread anything with a potent smell
Mothballs, garlic and ammonia have scents that these animals tend to run away from. So, pour a bit of
ammonia inside a coffee tin with a cover and place a cloth inside. Then, bring an end of the cloth up
an opening cut in the cover. The cloth will function by way of a wick in dispersing the odor.
Place a container in each area where the possums meet. You may also scatter mothballs surrounding
areas where you noticed activities of possums. You could enclose the mothballs inside a netting bag as
an alternative to scattering them individually all over the place.
As for garlic, place a piece of mashed garlic inside any vicinity that you wish your neighborhood
animals to keep away from. Crushing garlic stays better than using whole ones since mashing
produces more

The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay

Reaction Paper #2
Professor M. Scott Mayberry
13 December 2016
The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God
Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind must
answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in the
universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the laws of the
universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created everything than how can
he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own choice to do so. Thomas V.
Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do everything that is logically possible?
Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of God, or are we attempting to make Him in
ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we
connect to, or merely our own impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We
connect to others, but we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a
specific manner, completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive.
As human beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it.
However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so what is
logically possible?
In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a

The evil within the novel of the Lord of the Flies can compare to many past and modern evils within
society. Although, the evils within the attack on Pearl Harbor are the most closely compared and
relevant to the characters and actions within the novel the Lord of the Flies. In the Lord of the Flies
one of the main characters, Jack and his partner Roger have an evil desire to become more powerful
than Ralph. One example of evil within the book is how Jack strives to gain power over the group of
young boys. He attempts to gain this power in an evil manner, by killing the significant children from
the group that opposes him. This evil that Jack displays is also resembled in the attack on Pearl

Cats Are Best Pets Essay
Garfield opened his eyes to the soft light filtering in through the window. He was king of his castle,

More cats are being adopted and loved by people every day. In this way, people have started to realize
that cats make great pets. Cats are amazing pets because they are self sufficient, independent, and
loving.
Cats are better pets than other domestic animals because they can take care of themselves. To begin,
some people believe that cats are needy, but Johnson s research states that cats are solitary creatures
who do not need their humans in order to survive (Johnson 45). A cat can exist without a human to

The Devaluation And Depreciations Of Australian Dollar...
This article is mainly focus on the devaluation and depreciations of Australian dollar against US
dollar, euro, pound and yen comparing in terms of floating exchange rate. The phenomena behind
fixed exchange rate and floating rate is; fixed exchange rate is a rate that is set or fixed by the
government or central bank to maintain its currency against gold or another major currency such US
dollar or the currency basket. In fixed exchange rate, the country s central bank or other concerns will
maintain exchange rate by buying and selling its own currency on foreign exchange. The article was
focusing on successful parties and defeated parties due to Australian dollar fluctuations.
The effect of depreciation and devaluation of currency is mixed on whole economy, as if exporters are
in good place but if they are relaying on imported machinery, fuel, fertilizers and other imported
inputs, so falling Australian dollar will raise the cost of these products. Same goes with people
travelling to their home land at Christmas time or travelling in holidays they find it feasible to convert
the currency rather than wait for Australian dollar to grow.
The reasons that depreciates Australian dollar are as follows, though in the article main focus was on
interest rates and inflation but the discussion will not be completed if under the carpet factors are not
discussed:
a. Inflation
Inflation means value for money is decreasing, the prices of goods are increasing so people prefer to

Descriptive Writing About A Rose Garden
As the sun slowly peaked out of the horizon in Riverside, California, the scorching sun and unbearable
heat come along with it. Covering this dry city, Riverside fell into a moist, humid atmosphere. Besides
this, the day was bright and early for a hike up to the 40 acres University of California, Riverside
Botanical Gardens. As I hiked there, all I can think about is the sweat escaping my body, running
down my skin. However, luckily, a thick Oak bench with a shade roof sat directly above from me to I
can hide myself from the tortuous beaming sunlight. Even though sweat continued to drip down, I
wiped off most of it due to over heating of my body. Once I was comfortable on the bench, I looked

located on the top of a man made hill just right of the giant 18 footed trees. This hill had a warm,
humid breeze combined from the Pacific Ocean and hot Riverside hot weather. provided a hub of
different types of singing birds, graceful butterflies, buzzing beetles, tall trees, and a variety of flowers
from all over the world. As I walked into the garden, there were several rows of different species of
roses with different colors. Surrounding the rows of animated flowers, the flowers were sectioned off
in four with bright orange, mellow yellow, pure white, odd purple, fierce red, and light pink. As well,
three benches placed purposefully on the perimeter of the rectangular garden. I

Orr And Zuk Summary
In this chapter, Orr and Zuk explains the importance of ornaments of males and the mechanism behind
sexual selection. The questions that they seek to answer involve the fact that why are the males
fighting during mating season, and the ones with the colorful ornaments. In both human and animal
relationship, there are many similarities, such as the fact that the male fights for the female such as
their masculinity or traits that females look for whether an animal or a human. Darwin in The Origin
explained that sexual selection involves competition, but for mating instead of fighting for survival, in
The Descent went on to explain the relevance of the traits like the peacock tails. Ornaments that males
have don t usually serve a purpose but usually becomes detrimental. Having a tail like peacocks or
coloration can slow down the peacock or makes the animal open to predation due to the large amounts

an organism cannot change its genetics from is activities, like the long neck on a giraffe. Sir Ronald A.

antlers. Fisher explains that by choosing a specific trait, that trait will then be passed down to her
offspring, the trait for the males and the preference for the trait for the female offspring. The
preference then becomes locked with the trait, putting an advantage over the least preferential

Examples Of Betrayal In King Lear
Arthur Miller, an American playwright, once said, Betrayal is the only truth that sticks . Essentially,
what Miller is saying is when a person betrays another he is showing what he truly feel. People can lie
about any and everything; they can lie about their identity, they can lie about their family, and they can
lie about their true intentions. When someone betrays another they are showing everyone else what
they care for the most, whether that be money, power, or love. Shakespeare conveys this concept of
betrayal in his play King Lear. In King Lear, Regan and Goneril tricked Lear into giving his and
power to them. After he did then ended up betraying him and abandoned him, which drove Lear
insane. Gloucester was also betrayed by his son, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gloucester goes to help Lear knowing that Cornwell was against it. He tells Edmund not to tell

Cornwell and shows him a letter of Gloucester support the French invasion that will happen soon.
When Gloucester comes home, Cornwell punishes him and tells Edmund told on him. The second
time he was with Albany. Edgar gave Albany the letter that was intended for Edmund from Goneril.
The letter mention Edmund and Goneril being together after she got rid of Albany. Albany then
arrested Edmund on charges of treason. The unmasking of Edmund helps the reader understand just
how tragic the play is. When people think about family, some things that come to mind is love and
loyalty. In the case of King Lear , the reader gets the total opposite. There is jealously, hate, and lies
between each family. Edmund got jealous of how Edgar was Gloucester was legitimate son and how
he wasn t good enough in the eyes of society. Therefore, Edmund went to extreme lengths to make
himself good enough . Because of Edmund actions, he brother was had to pretend to be a crazy beggar

Sex steroids such as progesterone control reproductive function as well as influencing body

Progesterone is known to stimulate strong negative feedback. Due to this reason, it is the main
ingredient in contraceptive pills, as it elicits strong negative feedback throughout the menstrual cycle
preventing LH surge, thus preventing ovulation. During the luteal phase females experience higher

Twin Pulse Facilitation Measured as Twitch Ratios at the! Frog Nerve/Gastrocnemius Preparation !
Richard S. Manalis and Jonathan L. Miller Department of Biology, Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana
Introduction!
Learning Memory are related to synaptic efficacy which the present study brings to the undergraduate
physiology laboratory. TWIN PULSE FACILITATION has been widely used to study one aspect of
short term synaptic plasticity at a wide variety of synapses using electrophysiological methods. Here
we show that measurements of muscle twitches from the easily prepared sciatic nerve/gastrocnemius
preparation of the frog can allow one to perform experiments involving TWIN PULSE

Diversity Training And Its Effectiveness
Diversity may be defined as recognizing and respecting the similarities, differences and unique
characteristics an individual employee contributes to the workplace. Diversity training and its
effectiveness in the workplace has been met with differing conclusions as to the positive or negative
impact this type of training may have on an organization. Today, change in the workplace is inevitable
and diversity training in the workplace has become common across the globe. Companies now realize
that the need for diversity training has increased tremendously and that if diversity is not valued in the
workplace, cost and productivity may be negatively impacted. In 2010, researchers found that
minorities made up half of the new employees hired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tools such as the internet and email are good ways to eliminate cultural barriers, improve
communication and understanding, and employee knowledge sharing. New approaches to how
business is conducted such as virtual employees also contribute to the diversification of the workplace.
Diversity training is not only necessary in the U.S., but now includes many countries around the
globe. There are generally 2 reasons diversity training in the workplace is necessary; changes in the
make up of the population and globalization. Increases in the immigrant population and minority
births have contributed to the increase in cultural diversity in the workplace. According to (Teixeira,
2013) In the 90 s, 58 percent of net workforce growth came from native born Americans who were not
children of immigrants (that is, second generation or later Americans). In the 2000 s, that figure
dropped to just half its previous level (29 percent). In this decade, projections indicate the figure will
erode only slightly to 28 percent, but that will be followed by another sharp drop to just 3 percent in
the 2020 s. In that decade, essentially all (97 percent) of workforce growth will come from immigrants
and their children (Immigrants and Minorities Are Powering America s Workforce Growth, para. 3).

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Auto Enforcement System
ABSTRACT
Auto Enforcement System (AES) is a tracking system that automatically detects traffic offenses using
sensors and imaging system that captures photo and video images of traffic violations. It was a system
that created by human. The main function of this system is to monitor the traffic in black spot areas
which accident always occurs. For example, AES camera can cover offense such as speeding that
beyond the speed limit. Speed limits are commonly set by the authority to set the maximum speed at
certain road.
There are few factors how they determine the speed limit on that road. Firstly, the roadway condition

designed so that legal action cannot be denied or disputed in court by the offender. It facilitates
prosecution by providing evidence that is acceptable to the court. The AES system can differentiate

In addition, AES will not causes traffic jams as it can recorded every speed of car in very short time. It

Bp s ( British Petroleum ) Oil Spill Crisis
We decided to look closer at BP s (British Petroleum) oil spill crisis in 2010. It is British multinational
oil and Gas Company, their headquarter is based on London, England. According to PFC Energy, it is
the fifth largest company in the world measured by revenues in 2012, and the sixth largest in oil and
gas industry if measured by production in 2012. BP s annual report states that as of December 2013,
BP operates in approximately 80 countries. On April 20, 2010 the explosion and sinking of Deepwater
Horizon oil rig happened, it was located in the Gulf of Mexico. The well was finally capped on July
15, 2010. By that time an estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil had leaked into the Gulf (ocean.si.edu).
This awful tragedy killed 11 people. Unfortunately, this is not the only example of environmental
harm. Companies in oil industry cause various environmental problems. According to
LyndenEnergy.com, exploration, development and production operations of oil and natural gas are
subject to all the risks and hazards typically associated with such operations, including hazards such as
fire, explosion, blowouts, cratering, sour gas releases and spills . Each of these hazards could result in
substantial damage to the environment. Oil business includes so many environmental risks that all its
phases are subject to multiple regulations by federal, state and local laws. As stated at

Information Systems And Data Security
Introduction
Information systems and data security to organization has in the recent years increased drastically. A
computer can be illustrated as a device that is mainly use to process data into information which is
useful to the user. The expert who deal with Information and technology related safety measures are
resourceful when it comes to the process of information system and data protection. This will ensure
that the data which belongs to companies remain confidential and inaccessible to unauthorized people.
Dangers
Computer system risks arrive in an extensive variety of structures. Presumably the most surely
understood dangers today are modifying ambushes, theft of authorized development, information
misrepresentation, thievery of apparatus or information, damage, and information intimidation. A
considerable number individuals have experienced programming assaults or the like. Contaminations,
worms, phishing assaults, and Trojan steeds are two or three typical instances of programming
assaults. The thievery of ensured development has moreover been an expansive issue for a few
associations in the IT field. Authorized advancement is the obligation regarding the most part
including some protection. Theft of writing computer programs is likely the most broadly perceived in
IT associations today. Wholesale extortion is the try to go about as someone else usually to get that

Bakken Pipeline Spill
Spill, baby, spill: As Sierra Club s Michael Brune puts it, It s not a question if a pipeline will
malfunction, but rather a question of when. And, though they spill less often than trains do, the
International Energy Agency found that pipelines spill much more in terms of volume three times as
much between 2004 and 2012. The Bakken Pipeline s route takes it through active farmland, forests,
and across the heartland s major rivers: The Big Sioux, the Missouri, and the Mississippi, some with
multiple crossings, though the US Fish and Wildlife Service claims that no critical habitat is
endangered. It also runs through sacred Native American lands (more on this below).
Enbridge Inc., a stakeholder in the Bakken pipeline, has a speckled track record on spills. In 2010, an
Enbridge pipeline spilled 1.2 million gallons of crude into the Kalamazoo River, one of the worst
inland spills in American history. Because the pipeline qualifies as a utility (despite being privately
owned and for profit), the Army Corps of Engineers was able to certify it without performing an
environmental impact statement, as all utilities projects qualify as minimal impact. These projects are
subject to environmental assessments every five years.

Kristoff s Essay Saudis In Bikinis
The essay titIed, Saudis in Bikinis , talks about women in Saudi Arabia. I agree with what Kristoff
about the Saudi women s practices being foolish. (Kristoff 176) The reason why I think they are
foolish is because it just seems to me that these rules are misogynistic and discriminatory. I believe
Women should be able to dress how they want and do what they please. There are a variety of reasons
why practices such as forbidding them to drive and making them dress a certain way should be
considered inappropriate. There are many things woman in Saudi Arabia cannot do. Among them are
swim, drive, and go anywhere without their Husband.( Eleven http://www.theweek.co.uk/)
One is that what the Saudis believe to be true is not true. Evidence of that can be seen in the United
States. In this country woman are allowed to drive. Statistics show that woman both cause less
accidents and the amount of damages also costs less (source: 2007 AAMI claims data) I also believe
that all women should be allowed to dress the way they want to dress. What shows that what Saudis

1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual

behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research
focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study

considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). According to the report of

Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong
Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community.
Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group.
Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code
switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and
their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group
in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As
Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language
choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously
demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary
students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung,
2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around
sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman,

The Leatherstocking Tales Character Analysis
Oceans ever turning, rivers ever rushing, wind ever blowing, and lakes ever placid. Nature stands with
all of it s raw, unforgiving beauty dunting over mankind, not afraid to show its untapped strength.
There is a sheltering quality to this deception, as can be best described through the novel series written
by James F. Cooper. The Leatherstocking Tales develop an ideal environment for the emergence of
one of the first American heros. Cooper created his character, Hawkeye, as a hero that was able to
personally embody the conflicts that early America was facing in the 1750 s, even though the series
was written nearly a decade later. The seclusion and peacefulness of nature create an environment able
to harbor inner conflicts, parallel to the inner conflicts experienced within James F. Cooper s
character, Hawkeye, as he struggles with the colliding cultures of the Native Americans and Western
civilization. Nature, in all its glory, is known for being able to disguise the truth. This is included in
literature all throughout history, whether it be the ever rolling ocean that conceals the fate of a
infamous whaler, or the mist coverd trees that seal in the chaos that harbors beneath them. Upon the
murder of a Native American, Hawkeye reflects aopn how lake was an unchristened sheet of water
that veiled the darkness that hid beneath. The whole scene was radiant with beauty, and yet it was the
sight of countless ruthless and barbaric acts ( Deerslayer , Chapter 7). This

A Martian Sends A Postcard Home By Craig Raine
Craig Raine s self conscious poem, A Martian Sends A Postcard Home, is rich in pensive and bright
metaphors expressed innocently through unconventional eyes. This informal, free verse of syllabic

our ridged perspectives on the world around us.
The poem is tangled and booby trapped in unusual symbolism, creating riddles for the reader. The first
step in unravelling the mysteries surrounding all the descriptions is understand the intended point of

The Process of Evolution
Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed
and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth, Google. Google. Google, n.d. Web.
11 Apr. 2015. Evolution is the reason there is change in the genetic makeup of a population, the reason
organisms are linked by common ancestors, and evolution is still happening today because of the
constant change in environment. This paper focuses on these subjects within evolution and will
explore all areas of the process of evolution that creates diversity and unity in life.
One key component of evolution is natural selection. Natural selection is a theory, first presented by
Charles Darwin, that is well known across the globe. It is the reason why there is change of genetic
makeup in evolution. Natural selection is caused by the variation between generations, as well as the
survival of different individuals with different combinations of traits. The theory poses that organisms
with characteristics that increase their probability of survival will be given the chance to produce more
offspring. This means that the organism is more fit . These offsprings are then given the benefiting
characteristic. With time more variation throughout the species will develop. For an example of why
evolution is dependent on natural selection Berkeley College talks about a population of beetles.

Physics of Boating Essay
The first thing you should know is the physics behind a boat, seeing how you can t have a boating
adventure without one. To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a
boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed
object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the
object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume
of the object submerged.
Buoyancy:
Fb= d*g*V

d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object

The bald eagle is not an uncommon sight when boating in Southeast Alaska. It is a massive bird that
flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight
of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under
the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing
has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because
the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point
experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing
experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the
wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from
below.

Love and Blood Methodically and carefully Clary was tearing Jace s room apart. She was still in her
tank top, though she d pulled on a pair of jeans; her hair was scraped behind her head in a messy bun,
and her nails were powdered with dust. She had searched under his bed, in all the drawers and

Reasons For The Nullification Crisis
The Nullification crisis was a very dangerous point in time in America. Anytime in history when there
was a revolt caused chaos throughout the nation. In 1832, the many tariffs hurt the state of South
Carolina. Because of the disruption throughout the state, a convention was called to solve the problem.
It took three major steps: It declared the tariffs of 1828 and 1832 null and void within South Carolina.
They also warned that they may succeed from the union because of the unfair tariffs. At this point, a
way to prevent war was necessary and at the top of everyone s list. Tension was building when finally,
Senator Clay of Kentucky came up with a compromise to appease everyone. The government would

Quantitative Research. Essay
Statement 1
Proverbs 25:2 says, It is the glory of God to conseal things, but the glory of kings is to search things
out. Qualitative research focuses on deeper issues and asked the questions of how, when and why
people do things. Quantitative research behaves in a quantified since and assigns numerical values to
responses and measure statics. With this said Proverbs, the bible verse, supports that research methods
can be Godly. I interpret that verse as meaning that it is important to know and confirm in your mind

Statement 2
Quantitative research methods are best because they use quantity data to obtain results from the
population of interest. This for example can be bases on what the majority feels. The method uses
measures in the view and opinion of others and who feels them the most or less. This method can be
chosen at random representing the population of interest. They collect their data by telephone
interviews, online questionnaires, and sometimes on the street. This is usually the final and best
method to go to when choosing a course of action. This is best to research something further and

Reproductive Rights And Human Rights
Reproductive Rights Are Human Rights In 1973, the US Supreme Court declared abortion a
nationwide fundamental right through a trial called Roe vs. Wade and protected this right underneath
the Fourteenth Amendment, more specifically, the right to privacy. A basic human right, especially one
outlined by the Supreme Court, must never run at risk or threat chiefly because not everyone agrees
with it. Under no circumstances should a pregnancy ever adjudge mandatory. Abortion is a
Constitutional right and as a nation we must fight to give the right and freedom of safe abortions to
women all around the nation, make birth control and sex education accessible to women, and raise
awareness about the topic itself. (LawCornell)
In the United States, per year, twenty million unsafe abortions and sixty eight thousand deaths from
them occur, (Odyssey) while the average death risk for a safe abortion is less than .01 percent. An
illegal and unsafe abortion should never result as the last resort, but it tends to because of a lack of
access to safe ones. Morals, usually drawn from religious beliefs, tend to play a part in one s opinion
towards abortion. More than three fourths of Americans consider themselves as Christians. This means
that more than three fourths of Americans believe that it is morally wrong to undergo an abortion and
a person should not hold the right to take someone else s life away. While a moral belief, based on
religion, is something all people are free to have,

about the opportunities young people have and the challenges young females face. Michelle Obama is
also giving the speech to persuade people not to vote for Trump because of how disrespectful and

Michelle used lots of emotions and persuasive language to connect with the audience in front of her.
Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an
emotional response. For an example Michelle says, Strong men who are truly role models don t need
to put down women to make themselves feel powerful (Obama, 2016). This is an example of pathos
because it is using emotion towards something that is being done to females. She is trying to get men
to stop doing what they are doing to women by using emotion to show how hurtful it actually is. The
emotion she is getting at is pride which men have a lot of. This affects the audience because it s going

I got help from my sister and we went to the Washington DC Mall to pick random Americans. It was not easy. We had more rejections than collaborations. Each time was more frustrating, but we got enough for such section. On the following day we went to GMU campus for the same goal and we had three more participations. I end up placing only 5 participants on the rough cut, because only that took 47 seconds. I may add two more participants, but I want to fill the rest of the project first and I may use two more to fill up in case there is extra space to reach the 10 required minutes. What it has been frustrating is re doing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I could not figure it out how to use iMovie to make the sound stereo. Luckily on tonight s class the video technician helped me by confirming that we cannot do that in iMovie yet, but gave me an interesting suggestion on separating the audio as one single line, this of course once the video is ready, and then transmitted to another single file to copy one more time as separate line on the same video. We tried once with him and it looks like it will work. Second Problem was the narrative sound. After the introduction interviews, the narrative voice volume drops tremendously to a really low volume. I need to record this audio also with a mike so I can have the same quality and volume range as the video portions. Other than those minor issues, I am scheduling my scholarly interviews for next week and also over the weekend I am meeting with my artist friend who would help me with the animations. I really need to start working on images. On the other hand, I cannot really start the images if I have not yet made my script the necessary length to fit the requirements for this ... • 4. Anxiety Negative Effects Anxiety is a negative aspect of experiencing stress. It is the worry that is experienced due to fear of failure Honeybourne (2003) My Opinion Anxiety is triggered mostly in the mind and is psychological. It can cause shaking, perspiration and increased heart beat. Severe cases would need therapy and medication to help control it as it is more to do with mental health rather than physical health. Type of Anxiety There are two types of anxieties Trait anxiety which is an aspect of personality and part of an individual s pattern of behavior. Someone with a high level of trait anxiety is likely to become worried in a variety of situations; even non threatening situations. State anxiety is a temporary, ever changing mood state that is an emotional response to any situation considered threatening. For example, at the start of a show jumping event, the rider may have higher levels of of state anxiety that settle down one the event begins. State anxiety levels may increase again when coming up to a particularly high jumps and then be at their highest level when coming towards the final jump which, if they were to clear up quickly and cleanly, would result in a win. There are two types of state anxiety: Cognitive state anxiety is the amount you worry Somatic state anxiety relates to your perception of the physiological changes that happen in a particular situation. Causes of anxiety Having to much stress can cause anxiety this is known as a negative effect of stress. An athlete may get anxious if they have a fear of failing, fear of bad feedback from coaches and managers, fear of the match or competition taking place for example in a world cup final, fear or an injury happening and the athlete being out for a long time without any control Symptoms of anxiety Cognitive state anxiety relates to negative thoughts, nervousness and worry experienced in certain situations. The game continues to evolve and change with the times. Football is a sport that evolved from many different games. Football is mainly known as a different form of rugby or soccer, but there is more to the origin of the game than just those two sports. Football games were played around the world before the game was actually called football. Football is believed to have descended from a Greek game called Harpaston (Source C). Heffelinger played at Yale University where he made the Walter Camp All American team for three straight years. Heffelinger was paid five hundred dollars to play a game for the Allegheny Athletic Association of Pittsburgh. Heffelinger is known as the first professional football player (Source H). The first professional to sign a contract was Grant Dilbert who signed with the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. Soon after this, many teams started paying money for the best players. On September 17 1920 representatives met to form the American Professional Football Association (APFA) (Source H). In 1922 the APFA was renamed the National Football League (NFL). During this time, any town that could fund the money was forming a football team, even two Philadelphia baseball teams established professional football teams. During this time, professional football was not as popular as college football. Due to betting and recruiting scandals, Americans were not as interested in the NFL as they were in the collegiate games. The league reached an all time low in 1932 when it had a membership of eight teams. • 6. Analysis Of Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, And A Tale Of... Oliver s Twisted Story In February of 1837, Charles Dickens s first installment of Oliver Twist was published. These installments continued to be published monthly until April of 1839. London during this time period was split almost directly down the middle, the upper class and the lower class, the middle being almost nonexistent. In the nineteenth century, the English government was ran adjacent with the church, although the harsh truth of lower class cruelty corrupts this image. The country, despite its relationship with the church, did not run on the concept of Christianity but the warped perceptions of the Bible and the desire for money. Charles Dickens s Oliver Twist unknowingly sparked the social changes in nineteenth century London by exposing the harsh conditions of the lower class through the life of an innocent child. Charles Dickens, born February 7, 1812, wrote many classic novels including Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, and A Tale of Two Cities. Dickens grew up in a lower class family, because of that his father, John Dickens, was arrested and put in jail for debt when Charles was twelve years old. Soon after this, Dickens had to stop school and go into work at Warren s Blacking Factory, a shoe polish factory (Cody). By the time his father was released and Dickens was able to leave the factory, he had already suffered through many harsh conditions that affected him for the rest of his life. • 9. The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay William Maillis PHL 111 Reaction Paper #2 Professor M. Scott Mayberry 13 December 2016 The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind must answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in the universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the laws of the universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created everything than how can he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own choice to do so. Thomas V. Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do everything that is logically possible? Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of God, or are we attempting to make Him in ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we connect to, or merely our own impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We connect to others, but we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a specific manner, completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive. As human beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it. However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so what is logically possible? In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a ... The phenomena behind fixed exchange rate and floating rate is; fixed exchange rate is a rate that is set or fixed by the government or central bank to maintain its currency against gold or another major currency such US dollar or the currency basket. In fixed exchange rate, the country s central bank or other concerns will maintain exchange rate by buying and selling its own currency on foreign exchange. In both human and animal relationship, there are many similarities, such as the fact that the male fights for the female such as their masculinity or traits that females look for whether an animal or a human. Darwin in The Origin explained that sexual selection involves competition, but for mating instead of fighting for survival, in The Descent went on to explain the relevance of the traits like the peacock tails. When someone betrays another they are showing everyone else what they care for the most, whether that be money, power, or love. Shakespeare conveys this concept of betrayal in his play King Lear. I believe Women should be able to dress how they want and do what they please. There are a variety of reasons why practices such as forbidding them to drive and making them dress a certain way should be considered inappropriate. There are many things woman in Saudi Arabia cannot do. Among them are swim, drive, and go anywhere without their Husband.( Eleven http://www.theweek.co.uk/) One is that what the Saudis believe to be true is not true. Evidence of that can be seen in the United States. In this country woman are allowed to drive. Statistics show that woman both cause less accidents and the amount of damages also costs less (source: 2007 AAMI claims data) I also believe that all women should be allowed to dress the way they want to dress. What shows that what Saudis do is discriminatory is that we do not see men having to walk around in specific clothes. Making woman walk around like that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could happen out of fear, insecurity or a lot of other emotions. One likely cause of it is that these woman are afraid of what might happen to them or what the men will do to them if they try to rebel. Evidence for this can be where it talks about woman only needing to read or write (Kristoff 176) Because of this woman only receive basic education. • 28. An Investigation of a Language Profile of a Mother-Tongue... 1. Introduction As 50% or more of the world s towns and cities are bilingual or multilingual communities (Pennington et al. 1992), quantities of research studies have been carried out on language behavior or choice of a certain ethnic group in a bilingual or multilingual community. This research focuses on the language behavior of a mother tongue Mandarin speaker who is having graduate study in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a typical metropolis immersed in multilingualism, since there are considerably diverse ethnic groups in this area (2011 Census Office, 2012). Though there has been a much wider tolerance of Mandarin speaking in different contexts in Hong Kong (Chen, 2012), Mandarin speakers experience language alternation in this triglossic community. Many studies have been conducted to examine the language behavior of a specific ethnic group. Gibbons (1987) and Pennington et al. (1992) carried out empirical studies on investigating code switching and code mixing of HongKongers in different communicative contexts in Hong Kong and their attitudes towards language alternation. Pannu (1994) focused her research on Indian ethnic group in Hong Kong, which explored their language repertoire and perception of their language use. As Pennington et al. (1992, p.3) described, the ultimate goal of those investigations is to model language choice of different groups in Hong Kong by presenting their language use. As previously demonstrated, mainland Chinese students have taken up the major proportion of non local tertiary students in Hong Kong, and it will probably be an evitable tendency in the following years (Yeung, 2012). Nonetheless, little study has been undertaken to shed light on language profile around sociolinguistic question of who speaks what language to whom, when, where and why (Fishman, 1972) on mother tongue ... • 29. The Leatherstocking Tales Character Analysis Oceans ever turning, rivers ever rushing, wind ever blowing, and lakes ever placid. Nature stands with all of it s raw, unforgiving beauty dunting over mankind, not afraid to show its untapped strength. There is a sheltering quality to this deception, as can be best described through the novel series written by James F. Cooper. The Leatherstocking Tales develop an ideal environment for the emergence of one of the first American heros. Cooper created his character, Hawkeye, as a hero that was able to personally embody the conflicts that early America was facing in the 1750 s, even though the series was written nearly a decade later. The seclusion and peacefulness of nature create an environment able to harbor inner conflicts, parallel to the inner conflicts experienced within James F. Cooper s character, Hawkeye, as he struggles with the colliding cultures of the Native Americans and Western civilization. Nature, in all its glory, is known for being able to disguise the truth. This is included in literature all throughout history, whether it be the ever rolling ocean that conceals the fate of a infamous whaler, or the mist coverd trees that seal in the chaos that harbors beneath them. Upon the murder of a Native American, Hawkeye reflects aopn how lake was an unchristened sheet of water that veiled the darkness that hid beneath. The whole scene was radiant with beauty, and yet it was the sight of countless ruthless and barbaric acts ( Deerslayer , Chapter 7). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This informal, free verse of syllabic meter poem beautifully showcases Raine s ability to give us, the reader, an opportunity to unshackle our ridged perspectives on the world around us. The poem is tangled and booby trapped in unusual symbolism, creating riddles for the reader. The first step in unravelling the mysteries surrounding all the descriptions is understand the intended point of view. The Process Of Evolution And Evolution Sachs 1 Ella Sachs Mrs.Jarvis AP Biology April 6th, 2015 The Process of Evolution Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth, Google. Google. Google, n.d. Web. 11 Apr. 2015. Evolution is the reason there is change in the genetic makeup of a population, the reason organisms are linked by common ancestors, and evolution is still happening today because of the constant change in environment. This paper focuses on these subjects within evolution and will explore all areas of the process of evolution that creates diversity and unity in life. One key component of evolution is natural selection. Natural selection is a theory, first presented by Charles Darwin, that is well known across the globe. It is the reason why there is change of genetic makeup in evolution. Natural selection is caused by the variation between generations, as well as the survival of different individuals with different combinations of traits. The theory poses that organisms with characteristics that increase their probability of survival will be given the chance to produce more offspring. This means that the organism is more fit . These offsprings are then given the benefiting characteristic. With time more variation throughout the species will develop. For an example of why evolution is dependent on natural selection Berkeley College talks about a population of beetles. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume of the object submerged. Buoyancy: Fb= d*g*V Where Fb= the magnitude of the buoyant force d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object All object displace fluid when in a liquid, ... It is a massive bird that flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from below. Marine Mammals Communication: Whales are amazing mammals on many levels. • 38. Reproductive Rights And Human Rights Reproductive Rights Are Human Rights In 1973, the US Supreme Court declared abortion a nationwide fundamental right through a trial called Roe vs. Wade and protected this right underneath the Fourteenth Amendment, more specifically, the right to privacy. A basic human right, especially one outlined by the Supreme Court, must never run at risk or threat chiefly because not everyone agrees with it. Under no circumstances should a pregnancy ever adjudge mandatory. Abortion is a Constitutional right and as a nation we must fight to give the right and freedom of safe abortions to women all around the nation, make birth control and sex education accessible to women, and raise awareness about the topic itself. (LawCornell) In the United States, per year, twenty million unsafe abortions and sixty eight thousand deaths from them occur, (Odyssey) while the average death risk for a safe abortion is less than .01 percent. An illegal and unsafe abortion should never result as the last resort, but it tends to because of a lack of access to safe ones. Morals, usually drawn from religious beliefs, tend to play a part in one s opinion towards abortion. More than three fourths of Americans consider themselves as Christians. This means that more than three fourths of Americans believe that it is morally wrong to undergo an abortion and a person should not hold the right to take someone else s life away. Michelle obama used different rhetorical appeals during her speech. Michelle used lots of emotions and persuasive language to connect with the audience in front of her. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. For an example Michelle says, Strong men who are truly role models don t need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful (Obama, 2016). This is an example of pathos because it is using emotion towards something that is being done to females. She is trying to get men to stop doing what they are doing to women by using emotion to show how hurtful it actually is. The emotion she is getting at is pride which men have a lot of.
