2. College Essay About Mistakes
Mistakes something that we all do. People are not perfect therefore we will all
make mistakes many times in our life. But there are two types of people in the
world s ones that will live up to their mistakes and accept that they did it so they
can move on. And there are those that will never live up to the mistakes they made
and they will never be able to move on. The only way to truly learn from a mistakeis
to acceptthat you made one. There have been many times in my life that I have
messed up and made mistakes. Some very terrible some not so bad. But none of
them never were as bad as this one but, what i learned from the mistakemade it all
worthwhile. I am a basketball player in the game of basketball many mistakes can be

I would still to continue to do these things constantly. But, a worse problem know i
would do them and get frustrated with the referees even though i know i made
them. Which was mad cause eventually i got ejected from the game a few times
because of me getting mad which costs us the game a few times. One time this
happened at a semi final game where if i hadn t got ejected we would ve won. This
was the biggest mistake of my life. But, it is hard in our culture not to get mad
because, you see people on tv get mad all the time for these things. So that is a
reason I still was getting mad I didn t think it was a big deal until it cost us the
biggest game of my life. I Sat in my room for days crying about how big of mistake
i just made. At that moment i told myself i would never get mad at another call in
a sports game agains. That next year we had made our way back into the semi final
game. Where i was dribbling the ball and i was getting bad calls on me the whole
game which was frustrating me. They blew the whistle and called me for a

Incentive Plans
Organizations provide incentive plans to employees as motivation to reach the
objectives and goals of the company. Incentives are given to personnel to
encourage them to do his or her best. Incentive plans in any business might include
bonuses or raises, stock option plans, or other forms of incentives. This is in
exchange for the employees who work harder, better, or faster in accordance with
the organizations goals and objectives (Businesstown.com, 2001). The majority of
incentives are performance based policies in which workers receive additional cash
or benefits centered on a worker s performance.

The CSR would receive a candy bar of his or her choice or PTO for taking the most
calls in a day. Each day the total calls are reported and the CSR with the most
receives the incentive. Some CSR s will have competitions with each other. This is
a way the employees motivate themselves. When all goals are met the team or
teams receive a lunch party in which the company provides the funds for the event;
this is a paid event for all employees. Some employees make his or her team goals a
priority because the team goal incentive is always higher than individual goals.
Conclusion
Incentive plans are beneficial to an organization because it provides high productive
results through teamwork; teamwork is an effective tool in an organization. For that
reason, it is important to build an effective team and motivate them. The supervisor
has the responsibility to motivate the employees; however, when incentives are given
it will motivate the employee to do his or her best and in return the company will
gain the maximum productivity of the employees (Businesstown.com, 2001). In the

incentives as simple as a candy bar or PTO work too.

5. The Crucible Scapegoat Analysis
You turn on CNN and begin catching up on the latest news on a recent shooting.
You hear them blaming certain ethnic groups for being behind this tragic shooting.
Although they do not know the person that did it, their first instinct is to place the
blame on them. Throughout history, there have been multiple ways that every
culture has used a type of a scapegoat. Scapegoat: a person who is blamed for the
wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency.
In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the use of a scapegoat was the blaming of women
in Salem, Massachusetts for being a witch or worshipping the Devil. In the book,
there were numerous girls accused, a few men, and multiple deaths. There were
thirty three deaths total, one man, Giles Corey. Nineteen were hanged, and thirteen
died while serving time in prison. All of these deaths were the causes of the
scapegoat. They were falsely accused of witchcraft when there was no proof that
they performed these acts. Scapegoats were used because the people of Salem
were terror stricken, in today s society, there are multiple forms of scapegoats:
rape, Middle Eastern people, and WWII that people use due to trepidation. In the
recent Twittersphere, there were article links about how a female accused a male
of raping her. He served time, then years later she came out and proclaimed that it
was a lie. By doing this, it makes her seem ignorant. This case ruined the man s life
and made him waster years of his
6. The American Dream Analysis
The American Dream is a cultural ideal in today s society that reflects our values as
a country. It is generally thought of as a merit based system where no man or
woman is above another. This system is flawless in theory, because it instills the idea
that hard work alone can help citizens achieve their goals. As our country has
evolved, the American Dreamthat once defined us as a country has died due to the
rising costs of higher education and diminishing career opportunities. One of the
main reasons why change is necessary is the rapidly increasing cost of higher
education. In a 2015 New York Times article, Paul F. Campos explains, If over the
past three decades car prices had gone up as fast as tuition, the average new car would

Predictive Policing
Information Systems for Decision Making
October 21, 2012
In 1994, the New York City Police Department adopted a law enforcement crime
fighting strategy known as COMPSTAT (COMPuter STATistics). COMPSTAT uses
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the locations of where crimes occur,
identify hotspots , and map problem areas. COMPSTAT has amassed a wealth of
historical crime data. Mathematicians have designed and developed algorithms that
run against the historical data to predict future crimes for police departments. This is
known as predictive policing. Predictive policing has led to a drop in burglaries,
automobile thefts, and other crimes in some cities.

Many would say, the greatest advantage of this system is that police presence is
continuously felt and criminals tend to think twice before acting, as response time
will be immediate. With the existence of this presence community relationships have
shown to grow stronger and the citizens feel safer and more compelled to share
information about criminal activity, which can help solidify information that is
inputted into the system.
Since many police agencies intend to implement predictive policing in their
departments they should know the advantages and disadvantages of it. The most
popular advantage is the reduction in cost to the agency, this is popular presently
because there are so many cuts happening due to the economy this helps out a lot.
The budgets of many police agencies are getting smaller and smaller year by year,
so by being able to pinpoint the exact location of crimes and to put your offices in
the hotspots can potentially be a big money saver for the force. Another advantage
is the software is very user friendly and easy to use, the amount of training for the
officers would not be as much as with other software s have proven to be and it is
also less expensive for larger agencies. However, like everything there are also some
disadvantages. The biggest one is the software is not compatible with other software s
that are currently used by most agencies, which will
9. Branagh s Soliloquy In Hamlet
A famous part of the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare is the soliloquy in which
Hamlet himself proclaims, To be or not to be that is the question. Here the reader
sees Hamlet for the truly unstable and confused man he is. Also, the reader is able
to compare Shakespeare s version of the soliloquy to the production of it by actor
Kenneth Branagh. Seeing both the video clip and the text, allows the reader to
experience a deeper overall meaning than just one medium by itself. In the Folger s
edition of Hamlet, the soliloquyis in Act 3 Scene 1 where Claudius is realizing the
true threat that Hamlet is towards him. Hamlet is slipping into a state of haze
where the more he knows about other people s actions, the more he will think and
be in his head. Hamlet is thinking about the actions of his uncle who killed his
father and the presence of the ghost, wondering if it would be better for him to die
instead of continuing to go mad. He says, To die, To... Show more content on

Kenneth Branagh proclaims his lines while staring directly into a mirror. The
crazed look in his eyes as he debates whether it is better to live or to die,
exemplifies how unsteady Hamlet is. Furthermore, he intensifies the scene by
pulling out a dagger and swirling it around his head. It is almost as if he is toying
with death, knowing that stabbing himself with the dagger could cause him to die.
The viewer is able to see that Hamlet is not completely there and that he is
overtaken by his madness. Alone, the scene is very influential and lets the readers
see how the text plays out. Pairing the text with this scene gives an image of the
emotions Hamlet could have been feeling. It puts more into the overall presentation
of the soliloquy by making it more real life as if one was seeing it as a play. Every
actor chooses a different way to portray this scene but Kenneth Branagh decided to
depict Hamlet going

A minute later all five of them [farmers] were in full flight down the cart track that

can be a bit disobedient. George Orwell s Animal Farm is a short story depicting
the Russian Revolution through Animals rebelling against their owner and trying to
govern themselves while trying to maintain everyone equal. Regardless of Old
Major s character s short appearance throughout Animal Farm, he is a significant
presence to the story thanks to George Orwell s usage of character qualities, tone,
and allusion. The character qualities that George Orwell gives Old Major affects the
plot in a major way. Word had gone round during the day that old Major, the prize

Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short. We are born, we are
given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who
are capable of it are forced to work to the last atom of our strength; and the very
instant that our usefulness has come to an end we are slaughtered with hideous
cruelty. (Pg. 2) Old Major s speech demonstrates a very preachy tone. The speech
given is very over dramatic. He is calling all of the animals to action. This tone
inspires people to actually do something, it gets them pumped up. Major s speech
had given to the more intelligent animals on the farm a completely new outlook on
life. They did not know when the Rebellion predicted by Major would take place...
but they saw clearly that it was their duty to prepare for it. The work of teaching and
organising the others fell naturally upon the pigs, who were generally recognised as
being the cleverest of the animals. (Pg. 6) Thanks to Old Major, the animals are
beginning to prepare for the revolution that is Animalism. The tone that is used here
is very optimistic because they are looking forward to the revolution so much that
they are teaching the rest of the animals about it. The

From the Broadbeach study, the investigation of offshore wave conditions erosion
rates and sandbar morphodynamics, show that Broadbeach experienced some
unusual experience during the study period. Given that the wave conditions on the
Gold Coast were considerably less energetic, results suggest that Broadbeach s
beach is significantly vulnerable and is more easily eroded than other beaches
reported. Time series of offshore wave conditions combined with the evolution of
the beach volume also suggests that the studied beach is more exposed to high
erosion rates in the presences of NE to E swell. This trend is in agreement with
visual observation all along the Gold Coast. However, the second and third storm
wave events are estimated to be of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the first and second extreme events mentioned in the study, the 150m wide
Coolangatta Beach experienced the most intense erosion because waves did not
reach the vegetated dune. The beach then recovered markedly, which can be
explained by the presence of the sand bypassing system and sheltering from he SE
high waves (Castelle et al., 2007).
The evolution of measured beach volumes over the study period strongly suggests
that the Gold Coast beaches are not able to withstand a powerful succession of
extreme vents. The first high wave event strongly weakened the beaches, which did
not recover before the second high wave event of a magnitude not unusual along the
Gold Coast. However, in these two cases, the storms resulted in surprisingly high
erosion rates. Data from a more in depth investigation of Broadbeach, using video
imagery, suggest that outer bar decay, resulting in a lack of protection of the sub
aerial beach, may explain this high erosion.
The present results show that high energy easterly swells have a considerable
destructive power on both northern and southern Gold Coast beaches. Even though
no tropical cyclone directly crossed the Gold Coast, which would have resulted in
much higher energy waves and a more severe storm surge, the erosion measured is
the most substantial of the past 30 years. The Gold Coast beaches investigated lost
between 34 and 52m3/m, which, in terms of beach nourishment, is an extremely large
amount of sand. This suggests hat

C. Supporting Argument: Obama states that Race to the Top was the best
improvement for public schools in a generation. He also said that this idea was
created by the Republicans and Democratic and if they continue this approach,
Race to the Top can replace No Child Left Behind law that former President Bush
created. 1. Evidence: Race to the Top is the most meaningful reform of our public
schools in a generation. For less than 1 percent of what we spend on education
each year, it has led over 40 states to raise their standards for teaching and learning.
And those standards were developed, by the way, not by Washington, but by the
Republican and Democratic governors throughout the country. And Race to the
Top should be the approach we follow this year as we replace No Child Left
Behind with a law that s more flexible and focused on what s best for our kids.

the Democratic governors but also by the Republicans. He is trying to convey the
republicans to agree his new approach to reform public schools and replace No
Child Left Behind that former President Bush made. He is trying to convince
President Bush former supporters to agree with his idea and gain their support. 3.
Connection: Obama uses errors of omission because by him stating that he wants to

17. The Importance Of Superstitions In History
Throughout history, many superstitions have grown ranging from not opening an
umbrella inside, to seeing a black cat crosses in front of you. Some of these
traditions we pass on today may seem crazy and we could wonder who came up with
these insane ideas. Although the superstitions may not be completely sound they all
have an explanation in history. One of the most well known superstitions would be
triskaidekaphobia, or a fear of the number 13. This might seem irrational, but it has a
basis in religious history and in many cultures throughout the ancient world. I believe
that this fear may have some basis in fact, however strange, and to prove this we will
look at this superstitions basis in ancient history, its basis in religious history, and how
it plays out in our culture today.
To start, we can look at how it has a basis in ancient history. One of the first items
of proof for these superstitions would be all the way back in Hammurabi s code.
Supposedly in ancient times the number thirteen was unlucky so in his code of laws
the number 13 was omitted. However, if you look at the original text the laws
themselves were not numerically ordered, so likely this was just an error in
translation or an error by the original writer. Another area where this superstition may
have started would be with the order of The Knights Templar. On Friday, October 13,
1307 King Phillip IV ordered the arrest and murder of The Knights Templar. After the
arrest the knights were tortured and

Sarah Carpentier 2016_PG41_07 Strategic Management

Executive summary В« What is strategy ? В» Porter
Operational effectiveness is not strategy
First of all, we have to distinguish two concepts: operational effectiveness from
strategy.
Operational effectiveness is of course necessary for a company, but it is not sufficient:
each company needs its own strategy.
A strategy is a plan for the company, which has to establish a differencewith its
competitors, and has to preserve it in order to create a greater value. Strategy
positioning is choosing different ways to achieve similar activities from the
competitors.
Operational effectiveness means performing similar activities better than the
competitors can do.

Choosing a strategy is choosing a different set of activities from its competitors, it is
trying to be different from them. Strategic positions can be based on 3 sources :
variety based positioning in which the company produce a subset of an industry s
products or services
needs based positioning in which the company satisfy all needs of a segment of
customers
access based positioning in which the company satisfy different segment of customers
according to their customer geography or customer scale.
Strategy positioning can be define as a difference on the supply side, that is to say a
difference in activities. By choosing a strategy, the company chooses a unique and
valuable position, with different activities from its competitors.
A sustainable strategic position requires trade offs
Nonetheless, defining a unique position can t be sufficient, because the competitors
can copy this position (they can reposition themselves or they can straddle).
19. Each company has to take into consideration an important point: the risk of trade off.
They occur when a company tries to perform incompatible activities. Due to trade off,
the companies have to make some

she read the book to the love of her life. She reminisced about her time in the RAF

where all you could see in the sky was planes being blown up over the Northfork
coastline . Margery was looking up at the sky imagining everything that was going
on. She suddenly heard a siren going off, and instantly knew what it meant, a plane
had gone down and there was men who needed help. Margery rushed to the front to
help out in anyway possible, she was there and that was when she saw him lying
there on a stretcher being rushed into surgery, he was screaming in agony because
the pain was too much for him to bear. Margery knew that the screaming was a
good thing because it meant that his burns were not that deep and he could be

(An analysis of the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King s It using Aristotle s Poetics)
When the word poetics is used, poetry and roses are often what come to mind.
However, poetics can be any form of entertainment. Aristotle is talking about drama
and plays specifically, and in today s world, he would be talking about movies.
Several movies are released in theaters every week. There is a variety of genres,
including drama, thriller, horror, comedy, and romance. Aristotle creates the basis for
all critiques and judgments of drama in his essay Poetics. Aristotle creates this idea of
a good drama that still can be applied to modern film today. After Aristotle s death, his
philosophy continued to be taught at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These kids are indeed the protagonists of the storyline. They are extremely relatable
characters in both their fears and tribulations. In the beginning of the film, Georgie is
afraid of the dark, and must conquer his fear to retrieve some wax from the cellar.
Nothing was there when Georgie went into the cellar, but he thought there was
something there because his fear made his brain imagine that something was
hiding in the dark. The movie does not start off with jump scares and creepiness
like a majority of horror movies. Rebecca Lewis praises the movie when she writes,
Director Muschietti uses horror tropes such as the young boy afraid of the dark
empty cellar and the pouring autumnal rain to put you on the edge of your seat
before you ve even met Pennywise the Dancing Clown, (Lewis). By starting the film
off this way, Muschietti creates an environment that almost every person to watch the
film could relate to. Most people used to be afraid of the dark when they were young.
Georgie s fear of the dark enticed the audience, bringing them into the experience and
reminding them of their own fear of the dark. This is an extremely clever device used
by King and Muschietti to captivate the audience. Aristotle comments in Poetics that
the audience can relate to the protagonist through fear. Joe Sachs comments that, Fear
can obviously be an insidious thing that undermines life and poisons it with anxiety,
(Sachs).
23. Student Reflection
The past four years of high school have been full of change, development, and
discovery. I have grown into a more conscientious, outgoing, and considerate young
women who is now ready to face the next chapter in her life college. My high
school experiences challenging classes that have taught me to precisely express my
thoughts, extracurricular activities where I am able to expand and express my ideas,
and a social action trip in Chicago have helped shape my intellectual and personal
outlook, creating a strong foundation for my career as a student at La Salle University.
In my Freshman Honors English class, the teacher assigned the daunting task of
writing a one page, double spaced paper on how to live a purposeful life. This
assignment seemed impossible at first, but upon further reflection it became quite
clear. To quote from my paper, Living a purposeful life includes finding something
you can love and excel in, and sharing that skill with the world. Writing this paper
showed me the value of being concise, and the importance of having a passion in
life and using it to help others. Four years later, this concept has become the
guiding principle of my life, and it has encouraged me to bring light to other
people s lives by earning a degree in speech pathology. Through this class I
discovered that I have a great appreciation for classes in which my preconceived
notions are challenged. The Honors Triple at La Salle University attracted me from

Gay adoption by legal couples has become a rising controversy in the past decade,
affecting the lives of many children and families. Most states allow gays and
lesbians to individually adopt but do not allow them adoption as a legally

the sex, gender identity, or sexual... orientation of natural, or prospective adoptive or
foster parents should not be the sole or primary variable considered in custody or

Utah has also successfully approached the idea of banning by allowing only married
couples to adopt (Hopkins). As a result, countless children are left among foster and
adoption agencies.
With thousands of children anticipating adoption, allowing same sex couples to
adopt would decrease these waiting numbers by providing stable homes and families.
Excluding gays and lesbians from the prospective resource parent pool will in turn
eliminate thousands of children from being provided a permanent home (Sioco). The
Children Bureau s Trends in Foster Care and Adoption report completed in 2008
showed that there were 130,000 children waiting to be adopted. These results were
defined as those children with a goal of adoption and those whose parental rights
were terminated (Sioco).
In addition to children feeling the repercussions of banned gay adoption, the couples
who desire children are also negatively affected. There are countless homosexual
couples that would like to complete their family by adopting one or more children of
their own (see Fig. 2 below). Unfortunately, this is being completed through
loopholes rather than the legal process in order to develop their family, such as one
parent adopting the child rather than the couple. Federal law does not yet recognize
gay marriage, leaving rights to be determined at the state level, often resulting in them
varying greatly.

theatre is different everywhere in the world and the groups we ve gone over the most

elements that define what the theatre is truly about. In this paper I will be writing

Any theatre that you study or watch has a set of elements that when combined
create the style you are watching. An important element that I feel is definitely
universal is music. Music has been around for as long as history can date back.
Music can appeal to all ethnicities around the world. Music can be either a tap on a
wall, a noise made by the actor, or a tune made by some sort of instrument. They all
come together to give the audience a sense of relief. Music gives the production some
sort of suspense. A production without music can become tiresome and the audience
can become less enthused about the production. When the production has music, the
audience becomes more intrigued and they are more entertained than without it.
Music has a way of communicating with the audience without words, whether it s
through the pitch or from the tone. Music is complex, it flows and balances with the
plot and theme of theatre. I believe that music is a must have element for a universal
theatre because it is used every around the world, and I feel people need

is a field that can reshape the future state of healthcare. As a healthcare administrator
there are so many different aspects of healthcare that an individual can be involved

31. Muhammad s Influence On Islam
In the year wchih followed the Revelation, Muhammad began his public preaching.
The first converts include his wife Khadija, cousin Ali, other people closely related
to him, and eventually more people from his own clan of Hashim. At first there was
no sign of opposition against Muhammad s teaching, but as it become more
widespread in Mecca, people start seeing it as a threat to the city s stability.
Muhammads message about a single, all powerful deity negates the legitimacy of the
haram and its idols, puting the holy and neutral status of the site at risk. This
theological clash continued to put pressure on Muhammad and his followers.
However, they receive protection because of the solidity of the clan system. It had
been Abu Talib, Muhammad s uncle, who united the Hashim in support of
Muhammad and protected him for his Meccan opposition.
In 619, both Khadija and Abu Thalib, two of Muhammad s most important protecters
passed away and his opposition became even more bold and determined to pressure
Muhammad. It is important to remember that the previous early success of the spread
of Islam in Mecca could only be achieved because of Muhammad s allegience and
close relationship with these two important Meccan figures. In other words,
Muhammad s kinship paved the way for his teachings to be disemminated within the
Meccan society. As Meccans become more hostile towards Muhammad, he began to
look outside his native city for support. At this crucial point, Muhammad was

When talking to my Company Officer, Captain Polston, about the scenario where a
division officer is asked to sign line items that have not been completed, she stated
that it is a real problem that I will face in the fleet. According to Captain, in some
units in the fleet, there is a culture where marking off task or line items is the norm.
Especially when facilitated by the E 4 to E 6 level community, where items signed
off without verifying that the subordinate retained the knowledge or completed the
job. The reasoning behind speed signing line items is that somebody did it for me,
so I m going to do it for someone else. A bro before joe atmosphere has developed
in these units, where it is expected that items will be signed with minimal effort in
job maintenance or knowledge retention. Captain stated that enlisted in these select
units enlisted do not necessarily mean to harm anyone and are not all laxidasical,
but rather have assimilated into a culture where this type of conduct is accepted.
Therefore, Captain urged that we as divisional officers develop a motto of trust, but

even Chief when an inspection is coming around. However, we need to remember
that we are ultimately responsible for the maintenance of our division and the
knowledge/ readiness of our crew. Therefore, we must occasionally inspect the
division ourselves to ensure that all standards are met and completed

Did you know that the cancer government, the federal communications commission
s says that hundreds of millions of Americans uses cell phones, and cell phones
can cause you to have brain tumors? Did you also know that both adults and
children spend most of their time on phone? When using your phone, it might give
you a neck problem because in respect to cancer, concern focuses on whether cell
phones might increase the risk of brain tumors in the head and neck area. But let
me tell you something, as many of us use our phones daily, do we ever stop and
think it might affect our body? No because we are so into social media and playing
games that we don t have time to think that it s going to affect us. People say that
phones are safe and other say they aren t. I say that they can be safe at some time it
can also depend what you do, and how long you use it for. Therefore, many of us
get distracted easily and it s pretty hard to get back on track. In 1973, the first
portable cell phone was discovered, due to the cause that cell phones may not be
safe at some time cell phones are also very important because in case of an
emergency you will have a device with you. A second argument is that, do children
those that are under age of 10 necessarily have to own a device? How is it even right
for children to use electronicsat their age? Whenever am outside and when I pass by
kids using electronics, their little fingers tapping on that pricey miniature screen
instead of holding the hands of their parents or whoever else is accompanying
them. But now, many kids ignore us and focus on their electronics, and this is not
fair. About an hour or two is fine for them. But what I had realize when am in
parties is that their parents give their little kids electronics so the adults can have
fun and drink. This is the argument that I trip about because you shouldn t give a kid
an electronic instead you should take your kids to the park or something, keep them
distracted from an electronic that can ruin their vision. Another thing that I realize is
that half of you parents don t check what your kids are doing and watching. Well this
phone issue basically goes for everyone. But since kids are vulnerable and easily

Record all of your data in the graph.
4. Data: The rocks usually had a mass between six and seventeen, and a volume of
three through seven. Two of the stopper s volumes was one digit less than the mass.
The wooden objects had a low mass and volume, which allowed them to float. The
density cubes were always high in both mass and volume.
*Data table will be turned in on paper*
V= L x W x H D=m/v
5. Analysis: During the experiment, our triple beam balance would not rest on the
zero on its own. We would find the mass for some objects, and to check it, we
would measure it again and get a different mass. This most likely caused some of
the masses measured to be incorrect. Another problem we faced was the wooden
ball. Since it floated in the water, we had to push it under the water with the tip of a
pencil. This might have impacted the volume.
6. Conclusion: The wooden cube has the smallest mass out of the objects used.
Unsurprisingly, the wooden ball had the next to smallest. The object with the highest
mass was the brass. The object with the smallest volume was the wooden cube as
well.

40. Leadership Theories And Theories Of Leadership Essay
For decade s individuals, companies, and organizations have spent an unprecedented
amount of money on researching, molding, modeling and working to define what a
leader is and what characteristics make successful leaders. With all the research,
there is not a quick answer or even full agreement as to what makes an individual an
effective leader. The definition of a leader is someone who can influence others and
who has managerial authority. (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015. P.370)
Research on management and leadership in organizations over the past century shows
there are still no clear definitions or answers about what counts as effective and
successful leadership; the field remains varied and argued. Actual studies of
leadership began in the twentieth century. The early studies of leadership theories
focused on the person and their behaviors, currently known as leadership trait theories
and behavioral theories.
Trait theories of Leadership Trait theories of leadership defined as theories that
isolate characteristics (traits) that differentiate leaders from nonleaders. (Robbins, et
al., 2015. P.338) Research on leadership began with a search for inherited
characteristics that differentiated leaders from nonleaders and explained individuals
effectiveness as leaders. Early research dating back to the twentieth century was the
beginning of the trait paradigm of leadership research. Researchers have not been able
to definitively state that traits alone define
41. Operation Beyond The Horizon
In recent studies and readings of wars, I would agree with the definition of
Insurgency for JP 3 24 and FM 3 24.2. I want to focus on the definition part that
says to overthrow, force, weaken, or change a government. This is crucial in
defining why I support the term insurgency and what it means. In 2013, I was part
of Operation Beyond the Horizon (BTH). This is a civil military mission, which
included humanitarian and civic support. In addition, it provides medical, dental,
and engineering assistance by Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves. This is
when I first knew about the country of El Salvador and the tragedy it had suffered.
This concrete experience has given me the opportunity and real world experience to
first hand see what insurgency can do to a Country. Even twenty years later, going in
to rebuild schools, provide medical outposts, and repair infrastructures, it is evident
that insurgency and its effects are still seen today. What follows is the brief history
of insurgency in the Country of El Salvador.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The FMLN was a coalition force made up of five guerilla groups that maintained
alliances with the Salvadoran political opposition. The FMLN believed that
sabotaging the economy and various tactics would wear down the army and erode
confidence and ability to protect the interests of the country and overthrow the
government. From 1979 to 1980 the El Salvadoran Army acted on these actions
which brought on violence, fighting and death to tens of thousands of people in
means to stop insurgents. This attempt to stop insurgency only strengthened the
FMLN cause and found more people fighting for the
42. Foster Care And Adoption Is More Common Than Not
Children roam around in schools, at work, on the playground, in the malls, and
anywhere else a child would like to be. Young children are often accompanied by an
adult, of which one would assume to be their parents or primary caregivers. In 2007
forty eight million americans had considered adoption. Foster carehas a goal, it is to
help children in need be safe for the time being and try to reunited these children with
their biological parents. Believe it or not foster care and adoptionis more common
than not. Many myths go around making children dread the system when in all
reality the system is a support system there to help those children in need. Once the
child is in a placement with a foster family, their ultimate goal is to provide the child
in a safe, loving, nurturing environment until then can be reunified with their parents.
These children get use to their foster family, some even grow rather fond of them
and are attached, is it right to take away the only family they have ever really truly
known? This can cause emotional arousal and distress on the child and the foster
family.
There are many people in the world who for some reason do have have the ability
to have children. This does not mean they should not be a parent or that they cannot
be a parent. Many of these families consider being foster parents or even adopting
children so they can experience parenthood. Not everyone is meant to be a foster
parents, although it is relatively easy to become a foster
