When it came to creating budgets for each sport team I was able to create the proper worksheet to

During an internship you would want to learn about the business that you are interning for. You
wouldn t want your experience to just be about answering phone and pushing papers. My time that I
have spent thus far interning in the Athletic Department has not been a waste of time. I have
learned that even though the Athletic Department is part of the school, it is still operated as a
normal business. Also, I have learned that is very important that every

Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver
Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with
societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a
hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative.
Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any
other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their
criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week
Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness
of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are
shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary.
Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical
news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies
with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss
America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90
plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong,
intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. However, the pageant maintains the focus
on physical appearance, which to many is

Taking a Look at Frederick Banting
In the year 1891, on the 14th of November Frederick Banting was brought onto this world in a
town 60 kilometres north of Toronto called Alliston. He was the last born of five other siblings
and lived in a middle class family. Frederick Banting was an average student and had a hard time
in completion of high school. He decided to study arts, however he failed. Banting always dreamt
of becoming a doctor and in September 1912, the University of Torontos Faculty of Medicine,
accepted him as a student (Nobelprize.org the official web site of Nobel Prize). Banting took a
strong liking to the disease known as Diabetes. His studies and research, led him to understand that
insulinhas control over the metabolism of sugar in the blood (Nobelprize.org the official web site
of Nobel Prize). On the night of October, 31, 1920, Banting got an idea from a medical journal.
He believes that if you could extract the secretion made by the pancreas, then you can further
understand and advance in the treatment of diabetes ((Library and Archives Canada). Banting
made the decision of moving to the University of Toronto to reveal and discuss his idea with J.J.R.
Macleod. Macleod provided an opportunity for Banting and Charles Best (his assistant), to start the
work on May, 17, 1921 (Library and Archives Canada). Good timing and luck were the main factors
which led the Torontonian researches to announce their discovery first. This is due to the fact that

One of the biggest giants in the video game world today is Sony and their revolutionary
Playstation. Right now their Playstation 3 is in circulation throughout the world, but prior to last
year there was the original Playstation, and Playstation 2. This was the first video game system
that used CD s as disks for their games, instead of the usual cartridges used by Nintendo, Sega,
Atari, and many other companies. It started off as a collaboration with Sony and Nintendo in 1988
trying to create an extension to Nintendo s console Super Nintendo called the Super Disk, since
most companies were about to start making systems that way, and it was also much cheaper to

News Media, Athletes, And Models
Banduras social learning theory speaks to what we learn from others via observation, imitation, or
modeling. His theory encompasses our thought process and influences. Some being news media,
athletes, and models.
News media calls to attention current events. The information comes from real people who have
had their lives changed be it for good or bad. Though what is being shared might not be prevalent
at the time, it does call to attention one s stance to the situation and possible future handlings of it.
News media covers topics like teenage suicide, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc. Because
such delicate topics are brought to light, it calls to attention one s surroundings and forces
reaction. The news media is a tool that relays stories but it is them who decide how to share
them. However, it is how they do so that impacts the story, which is why they must remain true to
facts to not deter from the message. When deterring occurs, lies spread and the topic isn t what it
began as but a twist to its original. By looking beyond what we know, and observing beyond our

Quebec Separatism In Canada
Quebec Separatism
The province of Quebec has been part of Canada since the very beginning. Quebec, originally a
colony of France, is the only province in Canada with a predominantly french speaking population.
Quebec is an important factor in Canada s diversity, as the culture in Quebec is vastly different than
the rest of Canada. A fact that Canadians are proud of. However, many in Quebecsee themselves as
too different, in a sense, from the rest of canada, and believe that Quebec should become its own
sovereign nation. The political party Bloc Quebecois has been trying to gain independence for
Quebec since 1991 (Goldsworthy 10), although unsuccessfully. Canada needs quebec in order to

Their main focus is on representing Quebec s political interests in Canada, with little interest in
the rest of the country. In the eyes of the separatists, Quebec is too different to remain a part of
Canada. While it is possible that Quebec would not do any better by themselves, there is no
evidence pointing to Quebec doing worse on their own, it is possible they would do better
(Jacobs 27). Quebec is referred to by some as a nation within a nation, and in many ways it is.
From the beginning Quebec has been set apart from the rest of Canada, and if Quebec were to
separate, it would not be as devastating as some claim it would be. There would still be existing
trade between Canada and Quebec, and Quebec would gain many economic advantages it currently
does not have (106). Quebec separating would also mean taking their share of the debt with them,
about Вј of the debt, leaving Canada with significantly less (global economics). Another benefit to
Quebec separating would be the government no longer having to be careful with what to say or do
about Quebec. Without Quebec, Canada would be a more cohesive, governable political entity

the same behavior whether they thought it was right or wrong. Kozlowski s unethical behavior

Celebrity Endorsement Marketing Campaigns
Celebrity endorsement is a billion dollar industries today (Kambitsis et al., 2002) with companies
signing deals with celebrities hoping that they can help them stand out from the clutter and give
them a unique and relevant position in the mind of the consumer. According to Solomon (2002), the
reasons for using celebrity endorsement involves its potential to create awareness, positive feelings
towards their advertising and brand. Research has shown that celebrity endorsement can have an
impact on the consumer s attention, recall, evaluations and purchase intentions (Atkin and Block,

Self image has been research in the context of celebrity endorsement, and established that it is an
important factor in marketing (Fortini Cambell, 1992). Some of the respondents told stories of
how they were influenced by celebrity endorsement when they were younger. One person
referenced Michael Jordan and his endorsement of the Nike shoes. This reflects self image when
considering what to buy and what influenced them. It also reflects a need to be different as well
as the same time identify with a group of people. Apparently this can go both ways. If one product
gets too popular among a certain group it can actually make others choose another product even
though they like it. Companies may also use celebrities to try to control or manipulate the
consumer into buying the endorsed product. This may have a negative impact, as consumers may
view the celebrities as being puppets for the company. Companies are using celebrities to influence
the consumers behavior in a certain direction, at the same time the consumer often may perceive
the celebrity to by lying when indorsing certain products. For example, many a celebrity has been
photographed while enjoying a cold Pepsi much to the dismay of the marketing department for
Coke that they are promoting. The celebrity is no longer perceived as genuine and may loss

Social Order (Foucault and Goffman)
Introduction Social order derives from an interpretation of a net of relations, symbols and social
codes. It creates a sense of how individuals all fit together in shared spaces (Silva, 2009, p. 308),
and thus relies on encoding of human behaviour in physical spaces as well as among various
individuals. In any society, people must acquire knowledge of how to relate to one another and
their environment. Order is then established by a normalisation and standardisation of this
knowledge. This essay will examine two views on social order, applied to social sciences, and
embodied in everyday life. It will compare and contrast a Canadian sociologist, Erving Goffman,
and a French philosopher, Michel Foucault. Through an analysis of these two... Show more content

In The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life (1959), Goffman proposes that social reality relies
on rituals and learned behaviour. He metaphorically calls these performances . The sociologist
uses a theatre imagery for ordinary social contexts, in which people adapt to situations in
presence of others, and in specific public places, and they perform different selves , according to
given circumstances. Thus, presentation of the individual self is a collective affair (Silva, 2009,
p. 318); when on stage , individuals adopt a certain identity, which they abandon off stage , in
privacy, at home or in a setting that does not demand a role . For example, a school teacher must
acquire a character of authority, able to stay in charge while being friendly. She must acquire a
specific body language and rhetorics, even if she experiences a personal crises. After she leaves
school, her manners can change, and she becomes less formal. On the other hand, Foucault
proposes that in charge of putting up signs and rules, in order to uniform society, and make it
adaptable to a given system, is the state. According to Silva, he believes, that discourses are
established through authority relations and changes in dominant ways of thinking (Silva, 2009, p.
323). Thus, individual is socially constructed by controlling agents rather than a free choice.

Racial Stereotypes of Blacks in the Media
Racial Stereotypes of Blacks in the Media The media and stereotypes are two separate entities.
However, many times these two matters commingle. The lines begin to blend and soon people
may not be able to distinguish between these two affairs. The stereotypes are so welded into
what is shown in the media. A stereotype is a generalization of a group of people. In and of
themselves, stereotypes are not damaging. Stereotypes become damaging when they distort the
view placed on a group of individuals. Unfortunately, the media warps their views on people to the
general public for their own gain based on the stereotypes they manifest. The Black race is one that
has been greatly affected by these stereotypes. Many believe that there are no biases... Show more

were viewing themselves as less intelligent than Whites. Approximately one third of the Blacks
surveyed believed their intelligence to be lower than Whites

Meyer Vs Darwin
Charles Darwin was one of the first scientists of the 19th century that theorized the concept of
evolution. Scientists at the time had realized that species had evolved from primitive forms, but
did not know exactly how this happened. Darwin s studies began while on a ship traveling
around the world with the English navy. After exploring the Galapagos islands of the Pacific,
Darwin realized that animals adapted to local conditions to change themselves to survive. He also
saw that this was not just the case for animals, but humans too. Once Darwin returned from his
journey with many new samples of species, he continued his research. He was disheartened once
his daughter died, and no longer could believe completely in God. He learned that nature was
driven by survival of the strongest species, and this must be true for humans as well. Darwin kept

Europe completely took over the area and broke it apart into several different colonies. Darwin s
theory was no longer just scientific; empiricists had taken over to make it political theory. I believe
that there is equal likelihood that both Darwin s theory of evolution and Meyer s theory of
intelligent design can be true. In fact, I believe that both are likely to be true in a combined
sense. Darwin s theory is backed up by evidence, but Meyer s has not existed for as long so there
is not as much concrete evidence. By studying bone structure, fossils, species over the world s
evolution, it is apparent that this is no coincidence: animals have evolved over time. There are so
many transitional fossils that link different species to one another, and they can show the
adaptations that have been developed because of conditions like climate and area. Evolution due
to local condition and adaptation must be true species are fighting to survive. This can be observed

There are different types of sororities. There are four basic types of Greek letter organizations:
social, professional, academic or honorary, and service. Of these, social Greek letter organizations
are most popular (Encarta). The first social sorority started in 1851 by women at Wesleyan College
in Macon, Georgia. The women founded the Adelphean Society, which later became a Greek letter
sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Other early Greek letter sororities for women included Pi Beta Phi,

Social sororities contribute to the social development of members through organized social events

There were many factors that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government, ranging
from Trotsky s leadership of the Red Army to the failings of the Bolsheviks rivals for power. This
essay shows that the main reason for the Bolsheviks continued survival through the period was not
Trotsky s great leadership of the Red Army, but the opposition s mistakes and failings. This will be
demonstrated by analysing the key factors leading to the survival of the Bolshevik Government:

Much of the strategy employed by Trotsky and his generals was designed to weaken the enemies
transport system so that they could not effectively organise and coordinate troop movements.
Therefore many battles took place near sections of train track and stations, which crippled many
enemy attacks and allowed the Bolsheviks to crush each attack and then move on, rather than
fighting on several fronts. This great strategy employed by Trotsky helped the Bolshevik
Government survive, and without Trotsky and his control of the Red Army, the Bolshevik
Government would most likely not have survived.
A further factor that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government was Lenin s great
leadership of the whole Bolshevik party. At first glance, it appears as though Lenin played only a
small role during the Civil War because he remained in Moscow throughout, however, when
looked at more closely it can be seen that Lenin was a key decision maker. Lenin forced through
the Treaty of Brest Litovsk when many opposed it; he did this because he had promised peace to
the public and he needed their support to have any chance of winning the Civil War, and therefore
helping the Bolshevik Government survive.
Lenin also instigated the policy of War Communism, in which industry was

Counselor Regulations
Counselors face many different obstacles on a day to day basis. There are so many rules and
regulations that apply to them. As counselors we must be aware of these rules and regulations.
This paper will take a closer look at what is required in the state of Michigan to be a counselor.
In Michigan it is required that the individual that wants to counsel someone have at least a master
degree in a related field. There are more requirements than just getting a degree. Once the
individual gets a master degree that reflects CACREP curriculum then they have to pass the
national counselor exam, do no less than 600 hours for an internship, at least 3000 hours in the
field (not less than two years time), and 100 hours of supervision with guidance ... Show more

The exams are the NCE which is given by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). The
other exam is the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Examination.

In order to become a LPC one has certain conditions that must be met. These conditions are to earn
your counseling degree from a CACREP affiliated college and pass a criminal background check.
There are additional requirements such as collect the mandatory hours to complete the supervised
experience requirement. Then one has to apply to take the NCE as administrated by the NBCC.
Then one has to submit an application to the Michigan Board of Counseling to receive their LPC
title (Michigan LPC Counselor Certification/MI Counseling, Unknown).
In order to go from a LLPC to a LPC one must complete the 3,000 hour supervised counseling
experience. To become a LPC one must have a master s degree or higher in counseling from a
CACREP accredited college and a minimum of 48 semester hours and a 600 hour internship. This
may not seem like such a big difference but imagine the difference that the semester hours along
with the supervised hours make (Michigan LPC Counselor Certification/MI Counseling,

Financial stability is when your financial plan and system is resistant to economic shocks, it
means to be able to manage risks and your arrangement of payments accordingly to your living or

In my opinion, financial stability is being able to exceed that cost. A person should be able to live
within there means and still save money for later, that is financial stability to me. It means more
than just paying your bills and expenses because what if, one day your whole entire house burns
down as well as all of your beloved belongings? Are you going to be positive that you and your
family will be okay? It all comes down to being prepared for financial curve balls, because you
never know what could happen; life sure does know how to surprise us. I feel like if you re able to
get all of your needs taken care of, still be able to do something s that you want and plan for your
future ( put money away for savings) then you re living right. It may not always be the easiest
thing to do or conquer, but it s a goal most everyone is trying to reach. Having to worry about
how you and your family are going to survive is a stressful and scary feeling that I m sure no one
wants to feel.
A good question is how does a person acquire financial stability? In my opinion, one of the main
reasons so many people are financially unstable is because they can afford there lifestyle. If you
work at McDonald s a Mercedes Benz might be slightly out of your reach. I believe that a person
that could acquire financial stability if they were realistic with the lifestyle that they want to live
and the amount of money that they make. With that being the first step I

Genocide In Hotel Rwanda
Genocide exists as a fairly common topic of scrutiny and conversation in the world today. But
what constitutes the term genocide? Is it any mass killing of a group? Or can it only apply for
certain circumstances? These questions can be answered by analyzing recorded genocides
throughout history and also by utilizing one s own personal beliefs on what should be considered
genocide. In our class, we were required to read two chapters of Anderson and Anderson s
Warning Signs of Genocide and also discussed the movie Hotel Rwanda. Through these sources
of interpretations regarding genocide, one can develop their own opinion on what they believe to
be considered genocide. In this essay, I will analyze the specific example of Hotel Rwanda as well...

In fact, as the Andersons write, The term genocide was coined in 1944 by Raphael Lemkin, a
Jewish jurist, to describe Hitler s massacre of the Jewish and Roma people. I believe that is a very
fitting event to base the term genocide, as the Holocaust meets nearly all of the criteria that I
believe constitute the definition of genocide being used. In the holocaust, specific groups were
targeted, the means of carrying out such a horrendous act were put in place and /or acquired,
and a mass of people were persuaded to believe that the actions being taken were appropriate and
necessary. Although the Holocaust is somewhat unique in its meticulous planning and
execution, it did not need to be, as the Nazi party in Germany successfully convinced the
population that the Jewish people were to blame for any and all of the nation s issues. In
contrast to Anderson and Anderson, I do not believe that a national government needs to be the
party in charge of a genocide in order for the term to apply. Instead, I believe that the targeted
group must only be incapable of defending itself from such an atrocity. In the Rwandan example,
the national government was not technically responsible for the killings, and I do not believe
that Anderson and Anderson would dispute its classification as genocide. Therefore, in addition
to the need for a seed of hate to be planted in a group of people and lack of need for painstaking
planning, lack of necessity for government sponsorship, need for specific targeting of any number
of groups and need for resources to carry out such abominable acts also exist as criteria for the use
of the term

Rich And Poor Book Report
In The Politics of the Rich and Poor Phillips claims that the policies implemented during
President Regan s 1980 and 1984 terms enlarged the gap between the rich and the poor in which
the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Phillips states this book is about the redistribution of
power and wealth during the 1980 s: who got it, who lost it and through what policies (Phillips
1990). Phillips the uses the rest of the book the explain just that.
Phillips discusses the laissez faire policies put into place during the Regan terms to support his
claims. Laissez faire refers to political policies in which the government has little involvement. He

Essay on Your Inner Fish
Discoveries in Biology Your Inner Fish
Your Inner Fish The book Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin is an interesting novel that shows the
evolution of some of our major structures through time. We all know about evolution and the
monkeys but we never really looked in on evolution through our inner fish . The book was
appealing because it helps to understand how we have come to be with some of the parts of our
bodies we take for granted, like how we got our developed smell or our advanced color vision. Your
Inner Fish is a good way to jump into the evolution of our ancestors and become more
knowledgeable about where we came from. This book helped deepen my understanding of human

Our similarities are so eye catching that it is hard to get back into thinking about hominids.
Shubin describes in the texts some reason why we have evolved the way that we have. All
evolutions of the creatures have changed into what they need to be for their surroundings. What
I liked least about this book was it was hard to follow sometimes and the text got a little
overwhelming with vocabulary. The intense cells names or the hard to pronounce genes were
hard to follow because I had to stop every time. Once Shubin got on his flow about some cell
type it seemed like he just kept going and going and the more I read, the more confused I would
be. Some areas may be superfluous but the areas that are unnecessary flow with the book. Like the
introductions of the chapters, Shubin always starts with a story or and experience closely related to
the topic so it brings you in. The parts that could be taken out help with the understanding of the
reading because it isn t that easy to follow. What I liked best was the stories at the beginnings of the
chapters so it is strange that they are what could be taken out. The stories made the introduction
more interesting and almost made up for not fully understanding the bulk of the chapter. What it
means to be human? To me what it means to be human was walking, talking, breathing air, being
the superior mammal. Now that has changed into a much deeper thinking of what makes us human.

The Meaning Of Human Reflection In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
The question of, what is human understanding, can be complex to answer. Human understanding
can be seen in two different ways. The understanding of the majority, meaning that of a group,
which follows a certain ideology. It may also be seen as, the understanding of an individual, who
ultimately decides which ideology to follow or even which to create. Since, Emily Dickinson s
poetry is the subject, it is more appropriate to view human understanding as that of an individual.
This is because, Dickinson, herself, was quite an isolated individual, keeping to herself that poetry
which is being analysed in this treatment. It seems as though Dickinson held an acute understanding
of the meaning of individuality, a very human understanding of what it means to be one in a
million. Because I Could Not Stop For Deathtakes the insight of a soul which has passed from life
to the afterlife and the process of interacting with death. In a similar fashion, I Heard A Fly Buzz
When I Died speaks of the reflection of an individual during their last moments and how
something so simple, like the buzz of a fly, can give peace. The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky
calls attention and in a way celebrates the capacity of the human brain. Emily Dickinson s
Because I Could Not Stop For Death, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died, and The Brain Is Wider
Than The Sky present human understanding as both unlimited and limited, boundless and small,
which defines Dickinson s view of the individual self to be profound, reflective and limitless. In
Because I Could Not Stop For Death, Emily Dickinson presents her profound view of life after
death and compares it to the human understanding of death. There is a distinction between what is
considered death and Dickinson s view of death. Death is often seen as something unwanted,
unwelcomed, but for Dickinson, death comes as a friend, he kindly stopped for me. (408, lines 2)
Dickinson views death as understanding and kind, for she would have not stopped for death, in the
way that death stopped for her. There is a definite new view of the meaning of death in Dickinson s
poem, which takes the idea of accepting death to a profound extent. Through this human
understanding is expanded and the readers are caused to

In this essay I am going to be discussing and assessing how the Barbie Doll which is a toy for

Piaget has created the theory of learning through play. He says children engage themselves In
imaginative play which means that if they see a story or characters they are most likely to
imitate them and what they do. When children imitate others they develop a vocabulary which
allows them to name the world around them. This relates to dolls because if a child is given a
doll which moves and does things around a doll house like cleaning, a child will imitate that
around the house and act like a house wife like the doll. This shows that dolls are created in that
way to leave a image in the child s head on what a girl does when she grows up, likewise how the
dolls have changed, whilst children grow older they have certain changes in them

Essay On The Cuban Missile Crisis
13 Days: How did President Kennedy bring the Cuban missile crisis to a peaceful conclusion?
What was the cuban missile crisis? Was it a war or was it a standoff between the United States
and Soviet Union? The Cuban Missile Crisis was basically a missile scare. It was an engagement
between the United States and the Soviet Union regarding Soviet ballistic missiles that were nuclear
armed and deployed in Cuba. The Soviet Union carried the missiles from overseas by ships. This
lasted 13 days and consisted of fear, fighting, and most of all, difficult decisions for both the U.S.
and the Soviet Union.
It was in October of 1962 that a U.S. spy plane discovered that the Soviet Union had nuclear

because Cuba was just 90 miles from our shores and Cuba was a close ally of the Soviet Union.
President Kennedy was shocked and started right away to secretly meet with his advisors to

Those who suffer from this also have many other issues as well. The disorder is associated with
significant psychosocial impairment, depression, substance misuse, and domestic violence; suicide
is an all too common outcome (Black, 114). Those who suffer from ASPD are commonly
considered societies rule breakers. Children who lie, steal, and bully others, as well as adults who
abuse their partners or children, sometimes ending up with criminal charges. The personality traits
of those with ASPD can vary from one person to another, but the brain chemistry of ASPD is
similar throughout all the patients. When the PCL R is used as a screening tool, it was possible to
find that psychopaths have reduced gray matter in their frontal lobes, increased striatal volume,
abnormal asymmetry in the hippocampus, a larger corpus callosum, a lack of structural integrity in
the uncinate fasciculus, abnormal activity in the anterior cingulate cortex, and deformations within
the amygdala (Pemment, 2). Gray matter in the frontal lobe of the brain controls your decision

them less able to evaluate possible rewards and consequences. Introspection is also dependent on

Michaels dream has a sense of uncertainty looming about it. In Michael s dream he is in a
blackbirds nest with his baby sister. His little sister is in the form of a bird cross human. There
are two doctors at the bottom of the tree they are in. The doctors are equipped with a table of
knifes and scissors. The two men are beckoning Michael to come down with the baby. Bring her
down! he yelled we ll make her good as new . The knives and scissors symbolise Michaels
worries of what might happen to the baby if he takes her down or if he puts his trust into the
doctors. The line we ll make her as good as new and go on baby fly are taunting Michaels
protective instinct for his sister. They are almost testing him seeing how far they can take him.
When Michael sees the great bare patches on her skin it implies that she is weak that she is not
strong enough to fly. She teetered on the brink indicates Michaels worries of close she is to
falling or how close she is to dying. Almond describes that baby being covered in feathers and
being warm and soft. These are some characteristics of skellig. At this point almond is connecting
the baby to skellig. He is suggesting that michael is also worried about skellig dying, he is also
teetering on the

Ice Bucket Challenge By Felix Salmon
Is the so called Ice Bucket Challenge a benefit to society or a detriment. Felix Salmon author of
The Ice Bucket Challenge Isn t Going Away, published in 2014 in the Slate, argues that the ice
bucket challenge cause is of no use to the scientific community as it is taking away charitable
donations that could be spent on a better cause. Salmon attempts to create a connection with the
reader through his use of pathos; however, by doing so he weakens the effectiveness of ethos and
logos.
In the article, Salmon begins by giving the reader an approximation of how much the Amyotrophic
Lateral Sclerosis(ALS) Ice Bucket Challenge has made in the span of a month, providing us with
statistical numbers and graphs. He then questions how this money is being spent and for what
exact purpose. Salmon later contributes his personal thoughts on the subject. He continues by
noting many key details about how the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is causing more harm than
good, going as far as arguing against funding ALS and research for it. Salmon claims that the best
solution is to fund other charities that would have a greater impact in comparison to that of ALS.
In his piece, Salmon uses pathos as a means of creating an impactful ... Show more content on

His logos appeal is lost when he begins to cite unscholarly journals that would otherwise not have
relevant information about the topic, rather than informational articles that could persuade the
reader. For instance, Salmon quotes BuzzFeed which is more of an entertainment news source
which causes the loss of credibility. In addition, the author forgets to describe key concepts like the
Ice Bucket Challenge, which leads the article to seem confusing for those who have not heard of
the viral trend. Words like de rigueur are left unexplained and for the reader to decipher. Such
details make the article untrustworthy for the reader, making the reader question its

Thomas Hobbes Controversial Beliefs
Thomas Hobbes had one of the most controversial beliefs of any of the philosophers. Some see
him as a cynicist. His policies on human behavior and social customs lead many people to believe
that he is a grumpy man inexperienced with the world. This is not true. It is thought that the
troublesome experiences of his life influenced his work, the English Civil War being one of them.
Thomas Hobbeswas a renowned philosopher whose grim predictions on human nature have affected
politics even today.
Hobbes grew up to be a very intelligent man, studied at oxford, and then began to tutor young
nobles. His first student, William Cavendish, died in 1628, leading him to find a new student. Once
his new student had been found,These events caused Hobbes s

Cognitive Therapy and the Elderly
Problem Statement: Magnitude of Problem: Aging is an occurrence we are all familiar with, a
trait characteristic of all mankind. According to the U.S. Census Bureau s, the elderly
population will more than double between now and the year 2050. By 2050, as many as 1 in 5
Americans will be elderly; and as the United States elderly population increases, so does the
need for diverse health care (National Institute of Health, 2003). Moreover, it is estimated that 18
to 25 percent of elder adult are in need of mental health care for depression. Research Proposal 2

The researchers stated that many later born cohorts were more receptive to therapy than
younger born cohorts and younger born cohorts tend to view therapy as the stereotypical in that
it is never ending. Research Proposal 5 The researchers also explored cognitive changes that are
associated with aging. They cited that people slow down with age and are relatively slower at
processing; thus have reduced cognitive performance (Satre et al, 2006, p. 490). Satre et al,
(2006) also claimed that cognitive changes come with aging. They claimed that the elder
individual s cognitive performance decreases with age. Because the elder is slower at processing
they have a decline in coping with changes in life. They claimed that learning and memory are
also affected with decline in functioning. The older adults often had problems with word recall,
had a slower process time and needed simpler phrasing (Satre et al, 2006, p. 490 491). The
researchers were in agreement that cognitive behavioral therapy had a lot to offer the older
individual. They explained that CBT was adaptable to a variety of issues faced by the geriatric
patient. However, they all agreed that further investigation is needed to increase the effectiveness
with older adults (Satre et al, 2006, p. 491). Review

5.7 JIT and distribution Just in time delivery needs good collaboration with vendors of distribution

routes, loads and schedules well ahead. By working toward longer terms, higher volume
procurements with vendors, prices can be cut due to larger transport volume over a long period of
time. Just in time delivery will cut down the operating costs if the business is substantial for the
distribution partner. Just in time delivery needs more frequent deliveries from vendors however it
does not voluntarily imply higher transportation costs. i)Simple examples to reduce transportation

Nietzsche s Birds Of Prey And The Lambs
Throughout history, the concept of morality and its values have been argued by notable
philosophers observing the society they lived within. With the concept of morality comes the idea
of moral behavior that we have adopted in today s age, such as: generosity, kindness, truthfulness,
integrity, loyalty, commitment, open mindedness, and dependability. The controversial issue that
come from these so called morals, is that these values have had an flip, opening the gate to two
types of moralitysystems that have had us wondering if our morality system has helped or ruined
us. Friedrich Nietzsche, a german philosopher, commonly associated with advocating Nihilism and
the phrase, God is dead, God will remain dead, we have killed him, (Nietzsche,... Show more

The Birds of Prey are natural predators, seeking out the wekaest prey to latch on to in order to
gain the energy for life, and the nobles, according to Nietzsche, are doing the exact same. He
portrays this idea with the statement, to demand of strength that it not express itself as strength
that is not be a desire to overwhelm, a desire to cast down, a desire to become a lord, a thirst for
enemies and resistance and triumphs, is just as nonsensical as to demand of weakness that it
express itself as strength, (Nietzsche, 13) meaning that all the actions that the Birds of Prey have
commited are being undertaken because it would be unjust for them to deny who they truly are.
He is portraying that if a group is powerful, they will strive to stay on top and therefore, all their
actions will be justified with the idea that it is in our very nature to act in our own self interest, and
those who oppose are only furthering themselves from the actual truth of morality. Because of this,
the lambs and the little lambs who consider themselves to be patient, humble, and righteous, are in
the wrong according to Nietzsche when they claim that, good is everyone who does not do
violence.., who

Economics and Change Dimensions of Professional Practice 08/02/2015 Economics and Change
Introduction Health care in America is at the center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid
changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds
created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink
of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually
America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most
expensive, but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among
developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014).... Show more content on

This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government
healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to
provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the
government only for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now
pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the
Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is
problematic because this committee is deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of
products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a
government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self interest. Healthcare
Committee Committees are very important in improving and discussing ways to improve
healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled,
but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong
with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself costs 2,600
dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon can be used
up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Six procedures could be done with one balloon that
costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will

The History of American Christians
Throughout the year Christians have strived to do the will of God. From to converting people into
Christians to making a society pleasing to God. Christians in America have been present since the
colonial times. In the late 19th century, they were still thriving in the United States. In the early
20th century they were still involved in the broader American culture, committed to shaping public
policy and welcome in political life. But as time continued, evangelicals started to create their own
subculture, no longer involving themselves in politics and the rest of the American culture. By mid
to late 20th century, evangelicals saw that the nation was becoming further way from God and it
was affecting them. They sought to partly reinsert themselves in the American culture and politics
and found they were not as welcome as before. Even though they are not welcome, Christians must
try to do the will of God by turn peoples eyes back to Him in everyday life and politics. In the late
19th century to the early 20th century, evangelical Christians were involved in the American
culture. Evangelical Protestants shaped public policy by trying to reform the nation, according to
their convictions. That is the case with prohibition. Protestants thought that alcohol destroyed self
discipline and self control, not just drunkenness. Evangelicals sought to rid the nation of the
wickedness of alcohol. William Riley, a baptist pastor in Minneapolis, preached about the
immorality of liquor.

How To Kill Jews
The SS and the police officers from Reserved Battalions 101 were not strictly trained and
exclusively elected soldiers who specialized in killing Jews. Despite that this kind of job did
need exclusive soldiers that did not fear of killing, Himmler, the person who was in charge of
the Final Solution, just needed enough soldiers to make the mass murders happen. The police
officers from the battalions were middle aged, mostly working class (164). Just like everyone else
of that time and the modern time, they had jobs like every other men. Majority of the men were
known as white collar, or the working class. Their jobs were ordinary: dock workers, truck drivers,

Biography Of Charles Married Sarah Sally s Father Of...
Charles married Sarah Sally Gwynne in April 1749. Sally s father, Marmaduke Gwynne, was a
friend of the Wesleys (Lloyd 89 90). John was not pleased about the engagement because he felt
that the bond he shared with Charles would be damaged as a result of the marriage. He was also
angered by the fact that Charles proposed to Sally without consulting him, breaking a promise
the two of them had made to discuss all marriage plans with each other before proceeding.
Despite his disfavor of the marriage, John did not hate Sally personally (Lloyd 93 94). Before
the marriage, Charles made her promise that the marriage would not keep him from traveling
and preaching the same amount that he did before the wedding (Tyson 167). Despite this
agreement, his itinerant ministry decreased greatly by his own choice (Lloyd 89). He wanted
Sally to accompany him on his travels, but her duties to the family and her pregnancies made
traveling difficult for her (Tyson 167). The couple had eight children, except only three survived
childhood: Charles, Sally, and Samuel (Tyson 168). Charles growing family caused him to not
acquiesce to as many of John s demands as he had before his wedding. This caused some strain
in the brothers relationship. The relationship was further damaged by the Grace Murray affair .
John was not a big supporter of marriage, and Charles agreed that John should not get married
because he was not suited for it (Lloyd 98). John meet Grace Murray but had to leave her. While

Reducing Public Services
Yet another set of cuts is now foreseen to our beleaguered local service, just days after
announcements were made regarding consultations on reducing children s services, school buses
and, well, just about anything you can think of which serves the public basically.
This time the council is proposing reviewing the timetables of a number of bus services in and
around Witney, but also other rural areas of the County. I can t comment on services in other
neighbourhoods, but our 18 and 19 routes are for many people a lifeline. For the elderly,
unemployed, disabled and youths buses are the one and only form of transport available to them to
get them into the main business centres of Witney and Oxford.
The council is proposing reducing these services from hourly to two hourly. If you have opened the
consultation papers online you would have noticed that this would save the council at most under
ВЈ200,000 a sum which is insignificant in the annual transport budget of just over ВЈ53 million,
but one with severe repercussions for many.
The view of the Green Party is simple. We can t justify the existence of public services just on the
basis of a crude income and expenditure analysis. In the instance of transport a proper cost benefit
analysis should take into account matters such as benefit to the environment, sustainability and
overall services distribution. In this context reducing buses in rural areas would clearly make no
sense whatsoever.

Liberal News Media Analysis
News sources are networks where many people are informed about important news event. Being
liberal bias about news networks is to be open to new opinions about an event and sometimes
can be given false information or misinterpretation about it. Having a conservative view about
the news is still having to hold to certain beliefs and values and being cautious about what
changes are happening. Many people get news from the six powers house news networks that
are either liberal or conservative. CBS, ABC, and NBC were the only news networks, since
1948, where people were able to get the recent news happening and are now considered the
mainstream news channels which also have a liberal view about the news. CNN, MSNBC, and

These cable news started in the 1980s because the mainstream news did not get all the
information out and were not telling the whole truth. Later in 1996, FOX News started and

truth seekers. FOX News decided to become a news network because since all the other six news
networks were not telling the whole truth, Fox decided to get the information and tell the truth
without lying and getting everything out. Before cable news, the mainstream news networks were
the only channels where many people get the news. All three news networks talk about the same
event happening currently, but not all will have the same details and have different information
and sometimes that information is not truth or correct because these news sources want to be the
first ones to get the news on air for people to view and at times leave out the main focus of the

Sports Controversy
I think participating in sports deffently has a positive effect on children and teens. One of the very
many reasons, is that kids will learn a lot from being on a competitive team. They will learn about
rules, sportsmenship, obidence, and teamwork. Most kids love sports, and when they are younger
they will do anything to join with there friends. They get to seek out what sportthey love most, and
participate in it until there senior year in high school or college. Seeing the downside to sports I
guess you can say is easy. Like not having enough time for homework, school, friends and family.
Parents can argue on that fact for hours, but I guess it all really depends on the child. If a kids
friends are doing the same sport, taking the same

  • 3. Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative. Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary. Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90 plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong, intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. However, the pageant maintains the focus on physical appearance, which to many is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the night of October, 31, 1920, Banting got an idea from a medical journal. He believes that if you could extract the secretion made by the pancreas, then you can further understand and advance in the treatment of diabetes ((Library and Archives Canada). Banting made the decision of moving to the University of Toronto to reveal and discuss his idea with J.J.R. Macleod. Macleod provided an opportunity for Banting and Charles Best (his assistant), to start the work on May, 17, 1921 (Library and Archives Canada). • 7. News Media, Athletes, And Models Banduras social learning theory speaks to what we learn from others via observation, imitation, or modeling. His theory encompasses our thought process and influences. Some being news media, athletes, and models. News media calls to attention current events. The information comes from real people who have had their lives changed be it for good or bad. Though what is being shared might not be prevalent at the time, it does call to attention one s stance to the situation and possible future handlings of it. News media covers topics like teenage suicide, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc. Because such delicate topics are brought to light, it calls to attention one s surroundings and forces reaction. The news media is a tool that relays stories but it is them who decide how to share them. However, it is how they do so that impacts the story, which is why they must remain true to facts to not deter from the message. When deterring occurs, lies spread and the topic isn t what it began as but a twist to its original. By looking beyond what we know, and observing beyond our lens, we learn. ... Quebec is an important factor in Canada s diversity, as the culture in Quebec is vastly different than the rest of Canada. A fact that Canadians are proud of. However, many in Quebecsee themselves as too different, in a sense, from the rest of canada, and believe that Quebec should become its own sovereign nation. The political party Bloc Quebecois has been trying to gain independence for Quebec since 1991 (Goldsworthy 10), although unsuccessfully. Their main focus is on representing Quebec s political interests in Canada, with little interest in the rest of the country. In the eyes of the separatists, Quebec is too different to remain a part of Canada. While it is possible that Quebec would not do any better by themselves, there is no evidence pointing to Quebec doing worse on their own, it is possible they would do better (Jacobs 27). Quebec is referred to by some as a nation within a nation, and in many ways it is. From the beginning Quebec has been set apart from the rest of Canada, and if Quebec were to separate, it would not be as devastating as some claim it would be. There would still be existing trade between Canada and Quebec, and Quebec would gain many economic advantages it currently does not have (106). Quebec separating would also mean taking their share of the debt with them, about Вј of the debt, leaving Canada with significantly less (global economics). Another benefit to Quebec separating would be the government no longer having to be careful with what to say or do about Quebec. Without Quebec, Canada would be a more cohesive, governable political entity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mrs. Cleary also chattered away non stop and was cooking everything she could in the house, all the while shouting Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord for saving you! Kozlowski had a reputation for being aggressive in his field and during his tenure at Tyco was named one of the Top 25 Managers of the Year and became one of the highest paid CEOs (Kaplan, 2009, p. 14). A fundamental component of [Social Learning Theory] SLT is the notion of vicarious or observational learning; individuals learn which behaviors are acceptable and/or unacceptable by observing and imitating others (O Fallon amp; Butterfield, 2012, p. 118). In the case of Tyco International, investigations stemming from the indictment of Kozlowski uncovered similar unethical behavior among many of the board members. This reflects self image when considering what to buy and what influenced them. It also reflects a need to be different as well as the same time identify with a group of people. Apparently this can go both ways. If one product gets too popular among a certain group it can actually make others choose another product even though they like it. Companies may also use celebrities to try to control or manipulate the consumer into buying the endorsed product. This may have a negative impact, as consumers may view the celebrities as being puppets for the company. Companies are using celebrities to influence the consumers behavior in a certain direction, at the same time the consumer often may perceive the celebrity to by lying when indorsing certain products. • 13. Social Order (Foucault and Goffman) Introduction Social order derives from an interpretation of a net of relations, symbols and social codes. It creates a sense of how individuals all fit together in shared spaces (Silva, 2009, p. 308), and thus relies on encoding of human behaviour in physical spaces as well as among various individuals. In any society, people must acquire knowledge of how to relate to one another and their environment. Order is then established by a normalisation and standardisation of this knowledge. This essay will examine two views on social order, applied to social sciences, and embodied in everyday life. It will compare and contrast a Canadian sociologist, Erving Goffman, and a French philosopher, Michel Foucault. Through an analysis of these two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life (1959), Goffman proposes that social reality relies on rituals and learned behaviour. He metaphorically calls these performances . The sociologist uses a theatre imagery for ordinary social contexts, in which people adapt to situations in presence of others, and in specific public places, and they perform different selves , according to given circumstances. Thus, presentation of the individual self is a collective affair (Silva, 2009, p. 318); when on stage , individuals adopt a certain identity, which they abandon off stage , in privacy, at home or in a setting that does not demand a role . For example, a school teacher must acquire a character of authority, able to stay in charge while being friendly. She must acquire a specific body language and rhetorics, even if she experiences a personal crises. After she leaves school, her manners can change, and she becomes less formal. On the other hand, Foucault proposes that in charge of putting up signs and rules, in order to uniform society, and make it adaptable to a given system, is the state. According to Silva, he believes, that discourses are established through authority relations and changes in dominant ways of thinking (Silva, 2009, p. 323). The lines begin to blend and soon people may not be able to distinguish between these two affairs. The stereotypes are so welded into what is shown in the media. A stereotype is a generalization of a group of people. In and of themselves, stereotypes are not damaging. Stereotypes become damaging when they distort the view placed on a group of individuals. Scientists at the time had realized that species had evolved from primitive forms, but did not know exactly how this happened. Darwin s studies began while on a ship traveling around the world with the English navy. After exploring the Galapagos islands of the Pacific, Darwin realized that animals adapted to local conditions to change themselves to survive. He also saw that this was not just the case for animals, but humans too. Once Darwin returned from his journey with many new samples of species, he continued his research. He was disheartened once his daughter died, and no longer could believe completely in God. This great strategy employed by Trotsky helped the Bolshevik Government survive, and without Trotsky and his control of the Red Army, the Bolshevik Government would most likely not have survived. A further factor that contributed to the survival of the Bolshevik Government was Lenin s great leadership of the whole Bolshevik party. In fact, as the Andersons write, The term genocide was coined in 1944 by Raphael Lemkin, a Jewish jurist, to describe Hitler s massacre of the Jewish and Roma people. I believe that is a very fitting event to base the term genocide, as the Holocaust meets nearly all of the criteria that I believe constitute the definition of genocide being used. In the holocaust, specific groups were targeted, the means of carrying out such a horrendous act were put in place and /or acquired, and a mass of people were persuaded to believe that the actions being taken were appropriate and necessary. Although the Holocaust is somewhat unique in its meticulous planning and execution, it did not need to be, as the Nazi party in Germany successfully convinced the population that the Jewish people were to blame for any and all of the nation s issues. In contrast to Anderson and Anderson, I do not believe that a national government needs to be the party in charge of a genocide in order for the term to apply. Instead, I believe that the targeted group must only be incapable of defending itself from such an atrocity. In the Rwandan example, the national government was not technically responsible for the killings, and I do not believe that Anderson and Anderson would dispute its classification as genocide. Therefore, in addition to the need for a seed of hate to be planted in a group of people and lack of need for painstaking planning, lack of necessity for government sponsorship, need for specific targeting of any number of groups and need for resources to carry out such abominable acts also exist as criteria for the use of the term ... • 29. The Meaning Of Human Reflection In Emily Dickinson s Poetry The question of, what is human understanding, can be complex to answer. Human understanding can be seen in two different ways. The understanding of the majority, meaning that of a group, which follows a certain ideology. It may also be seen as, the understanding of an individual, who ultimately decides which ideology to follow or even which to create. Since, Emily Dickinson s poetry is the subject, it is more appropriate to view human understanding as that of an individual. This is because, Dickinson, herself, was quite an isolated individual, keeping to herself that poetry which is being analysed in this treatment. It seems as though Dickinson held an acute understanding of the meaning of individuality, a very human understanding of what it means to be one in a million. Because I Could Not Stop For Deathtakes the insight of a soul which has passed from life to the afterlife and the process of interacting with death. In a similar fashion, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died speaks of the reflection of an individual during their last moments and how something so simple, like the buzz of a fly, can give peace. The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky calls attention and in a way celebrates the capacity of the human brain. Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop For Death, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died, and The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky present human understanding as both unlimited and limited, boundless and small, which defines Dickinson s view of the individual self to be profound, reflective and limitless. In Because I Could Not Stop For Death, Emily Dickinson presents her profound view of life after death and compares it to the human understanding of death. There is a distinction between what is considered death and Dickinson s view of death. Death is often seen as something unwanted, unwelcomed, but for Dickinson, death comes as a friend, he kindly stopped for me. (408, lines 2) Dickinson views death as understanding and kind, for she would have not stopped for death, in the way that death stopped for her. Was it a war or was it a standoff between the United States and Soviet Union? The Cuban Missile Crisis was basically a missile scare. It was an engagement between the United States and the Soviet Union regarding Soviet ballistic missiles that were nuclear armed and deployed in Cuba. The Soviet Union carried the missiles from overseas by ships. This lasted 13 days and consisted of fear, fighting, and most of all, difficult decisions for both the U.S. and the Soviet Union. He then questions how this money is being spent and for what exact purpose. Salmon later contributes his personal thoughts on the subject. He continues by noting many key details about how the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is causing more harm than good, going as far as arguing against funding ALS and research for it. It is a progressive and rapid changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, amp; Schoen, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon can be used up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Christians in America have been present since the colonial times. In the late 19th century, they were still thriving in the United States. In the early 20th century they were still involved in the broader American culture, committed to shaping public policy and welcome in political life. But as time continued, evangelicals started to create their own subculture, no longer involving themselves in politics and the rest of the American culture. By mid to late 20th century, evangelicals saw that the nation was becoming further way from God and it was affecting them. They sought to partly reinsert themselves in the American culture and politics and found they were not as welcome as before. Even though they are not welcome, Christians must try to do the will of God by turn peoples eyes back to Him in everyday life and politics. In the late 19th century to the early 20th century, evangelical Christians were involved in the American culture. Evangelical Protestants shaped public policy by trying to reform the nation, according to their convictions. That is the case with prohibition. This time the council is proposing reviewing the timetables of a number of bus services in and around Witney, but also other rural areas of the County. I can t comment on services in other neighbourhoods, but our 18 and 19 routes are for many people a lifeline. For the elderly, unemployed, disabled and youths buses are the one and only form of transport available to them to get them into the main business centres of Witney and Oxford. The council is proposing reducing these services from hourly to two hourly. If you have opened the consultation papers online you would have noticed that this would save the council at most under ВЈ200,000 a sum which is insignificant in the annual transport budget of just over ВЈ53 million, but one with severe repercussions for many. The view of the Green Party is simple. We can t justify the existence of public services just on the basis of a crude income and expenditure analysis. In the instance of transport a proper cost benefit analysis should take into account matters such as benefit to the environment, sustainability and overall services distribution. In this context reducing buses in rural areas would clearly make no sense whatsoever. Countless previous examples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. How To Lie In Honor The 99 year old, Reverend Billy Graham will become the fourth private citizen to be honored with lying in the Capitol Rotunda, as reported from Mrs. Emily Cochrane (2018). This gesture is reserved for the country s most eminent citizens, and authorized by a congressional resolution or approved by congressional leadership once given the immediate family s consent (Cochrane, 2018). For two days, Mr. Graham will lie in honor, until he is later laid to rest on March 2nd in Charlotte, North Carolina (Cochrane, 2018). Mrs. Cochrane also stated that more than 30 people have been honored in the Capitol Rotunda since 1852, (2018). Mr. Graham becoming one of which, is a great honor overall. His coffin will consist of pine plywood, with a wooden cross crafted on top, which was also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 58. Liberal News Media Analysis News sources are networks where many people are informed about important news event. Being liberal bias about news networks is to be open to new opinions about an event and sometimes can be given false information or misinterpretation about it. Having a conservative view about the news is still having to hold to certain beliefs and values and being cautious about what changes are happening. Many people get news from the six powers house news networks that are either liberal or conservative. CBS, ABC, and NBC were the only news networks, since 1948, where people were able to get the recent news happening and are now considered the mainstream news channels which also have a liberal view about the news. CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC are the news networks that run in cable tv and are considered ultra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These cable news started in the 1980s because the mainstream news did not get all the information out and were not telling the whole truth. Later in 1996, FOX News started and became really popular because of being both liberal and conservative and were considered the truth seekers. FOX News decided to become a news network because since all the other six news networks were not telling the whole truth, Fox decided to get the information and tell the truth without lying and getting everything out. Before cable news, the mainstream news networks were the only channels where many people get the news. All three news networks talk about the same event happening currently, but not all will have the same details and have different information and sometimes that information is not truth or correct because these news sources want to be the first ones to get the news on air for people to view and at times leave out the main focus of the occurrence. ABC, CBS, and NBC are liberal bias and at times misinterpreted the news and give false information. According to an online timeline of the television in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. Sports Controversy I think participating in sports deffently has a positive effect on children and teens. One of the very many reasons, is that kids will learn a lot from being on a competitive team. They will learn about rules, sportsmenship, obidence, and teamwork. Most kids love sports, and when they are younger they will do anything to join with there friends. They get to seek out what sportthey love most, and participate in it until there senior year in high school or college. Seeing the downside to sports I guess you can say is easy. Like not having enough time for homework, school, friends and family. Parents can argue on that fact for hours, but I guess it all really depends on the child. If a kids friends are doing the same sport, taking the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
