Severe Left Hemiplegia
Phillip C. is 5 months post and presents with severe left hemiplegia of the arm along with left leg
paresis. The most recent neuropsychology assessment revealed deficits including: impaired hemi
spatial neglect, impaired selective attention, flat affect, impaired affective auditory comprehension,
disturbance of emotional facial recognition, problems with working memory, and problems with
reduplicative paramnesia.
Hemi spatial neglect is a condition in which patients fail to respond to stimuli on the side of the body
opposite the brain injury (Myers Blake, 2008) Neglect may be caused by injury in either brain
hemisphere, however, it is more sever and persistent after a right hemisphere brain injury (Brookshire,
2015). Many deficits exist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first test I would give is the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Right Hemisphere Screen (ENH
RHS). The ENH RHS is a non standardized assessment used to determine if the patient requires
additional assessment. Eight domains of cognitive communicative abilities are assessed, however,
clinicians can shorten the assessment by administering selected items to identify which area the
patient is having difficulty with. When assessing Phillip, I would assess the following domains:
orientation to person, place, and time (e.g. name, location, day of week), selective attention (e.g.
counting backward from 30 by 3 s), memory (e.g. delayed recall of a word list), abstract verbal
reasoning and problem solving (auditory comprehension of complex sentences e.g. Is your father s
mother your aunt? ), and visuospatial skills (clock drawing). After administering the ENH RHS, I
should have a better understanding of the cognitive communicative impairments likely to be
experienced by Phillip (Brookshire,

What Are The Five Elements Of Strategy
Donald Hambrick and James Frederickson identify 5 elements that a successful strategy must have.
One of these elements is differentiator.
Explain the five elements and illustrate your discussion with examples of successful companies from
the world business.
Strategy is all about making important choices in a business. Donald Hambrick and James Fredrickson
created the five elements of strategy as way to reveal what the bits and pieces of strategy are and how
these elements fit together (Sourcesofinsight.com, 2017).
THE FIVE MAJOR ELEMENTS OF STRATEGY There are five main elements of strategy. They
involve
Arenas: Where will we be active? (Quilliam, 2016).
Vehicle: How will we get there? (Quilliam, 2016).
Differentiators: How will we win in the market place? (Quilliam, 2016).
Staging: What will be our speed and sequences of moves? (Quilliam, 2016).
Economic Logic: How will we obtain our returns? (Quilliam, 2016).

Strategists need to decide how the company will get there leading us to the third element called
Vehicle (Quilliam, 2016). Vehicles involves the process of participating in targeted arenas
(2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). For instance, a firm that wants to go international can do so in
different ways (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). In a recent drive to enter certain international
markets, Walmart has opened new stores and grown organically. Doing this showed that Wal Mart
developed all the stores internally as opposed to acquiring stores that are already based in the
countries it wanted to enter (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). Currently, Walmart has purchased
existing retailers and is in the process of transferring its unique way of doing business to the acquired
companies in Germany and England (2012books.lardbucket.org,

Family Law Research Paper
Family law is an area of law that is very interesting to me. Many people are unaware of exactly what
family law is and what it deals with. Most believe that family law is marriage, divorce, child
custody, and murders between members of a family. Their thoughts are indeed correct, but
family law is so much more than that. Below I will discuss my reasons for choosing family law,
plaintiff/defendant,and the tasks of the paralegal.
Family law is an important body of law that defines relationships, rights, and duties in the formation,
ongoing existence, and dissolution of marriage and other family units. If I were to choose an area of
law to work in,it would definitely be family law. I feel that this is a job that will continue to grow and

Client intake is the first step a paralegal will perform before the case even begins. As a paralegal you

is the paralegal s job to open a file for the client. Paralegals spend a lot of their day communicating
with clients. People skills are important for a family law paralegal have because they have to work
with clients who are anxious and emotionally distressed. There are many aspects of family law that
cause distress and dispute among family law clients such as child support, child custody, violation of

Identity And True Identity In The Movie Finding Forrester
Expository Essay
In everyone s there is your character and your identity. Some people choose to express their true
identity and true self, others hide their intentions and attitude to protect themselves. Their actions to
hide their personality could have been possibly decided by experiences or lifestyles. In the movie
Finding Forrester, the character Jamal Wallace is a 16 year old African American boy from the Bronx.
Where Jamal is from success in academics is not important and is not a necessity. In order to merge
into the norm Jamal purposing flunks his grades to not expose his talent of literacy. While playing
basketball Jamal is dared by his friends to break into an apartment that overlooks the courts. That
night he broke in he was caught by the owner of the apartment William Forrester, as he dashed out he
dropped his bag. The next day his bag was tossed at him as he crossed the street to the courts. Later
that day he noticed his writing was corrected and marked with errors. Since that point on Jamal and
William worked together to expand and exploit Jamal s gift. In the movie Finding Forrester, lifestyles
and experiences shape people s outside character, instead of exploiting their true selves. Different
characters find different mechanisms to hide their true selves to avoid reactions. In the movie Finding
Forrester the main character Jamal Wallace, a 16 year old African American kid from the Bronx is
challenged. During his time attending a public school in the Bronx,

How Does It Works And How It Is Used
Elastography: How it works and how it is used.
Abstract
A very useful and common practice often used in routine physical exams is palpation. This technique,
among its several uses, allows to estimate changes in the mechanical properties of tissue when the
presence of a diseases is suspected. A typical use of this technique is in the breast cancer examination:
the cancer is often revealed as a stiffening of glandular tissue, which would be normally soft. Even
though palpation remains an important tool for clinicians, its limited use only to accessible tissue, its
limited disease detectability and spatial discrimination, and the subjectiveness of its interpretation,
motivates the need to improve the mechanical properties detection of ... Show more content on

Artificial tissues and organs have been developed both to replicate the function of the original organ
and to reproduce its mechanical properties under physiologic conditions, in order to improve the
chance for the patient to return to normal activities.
Several mechanical tests have to be applied for measuring static and dynamic properties of materials
and most of them involve applying a force to the material and measuring its displacement. Through
these tests, measuring the stress applied and the resulting strain, it is possible to calculate material
properties such as the Young modulus, the physical parameter corresponding to the material stiffness.
The results of these experiments will depend on many mechanical properties of the material and it is
often very common, in order to simplify the mathematical relationships between stresses and strains
and improve the interpretation of the responses, to make several assumptions about the material
characteristics: The material is assumed to be infinite: this means that boundary conditions and effects
can be ignored; The material is assumed to be homogeneous: within the area where the test is
performed we can consider only a smaller set of parameters ignoring changes of mechanical properties
in space; The material is linearly viscoelastic: the relationship between the applied

Witchcraft In Early Modern Europe
The notion of witchcraft has been around long before the witch trials in Early Modern Europe.
Different cultures have different images and stereotypes on what a witch is and what magical abilities
he or she may possess. Many people however, did not look at these magical men and women as bad
until the Holy Roman Empire began to look negatively on those people who were different, and
opposed the norm set by the elites. Driven by fear, those living under the control of the Holy Roman
Empire would began to blame other people for diabolical actions, or malicious activities. Women and
some men, were tortured and tested in cruel ways in attempt of finding evidence or gaining a
confession that the accused was a witch. Laws about how which were persecuted ... Show more

Before the English Civil War began, the legal system included justices, judges, magistrates, and
lawyers. King James I, according to author Malcolm Gaskill in his works Witchcraft and Evidence in
Early Modern England, had a great influence in the court systems. Before the English Civil War, the
witch trials were broken up in two parts. The first being that a Justice of the Peace would examine the
accused, then the second was an actual trial would occur. In those trials according to Gaskill, English
trials followed common law principles: lay jurors had to be persuaded by lay witnesses. Many trials
during this time period demanded more solid proof before the accused could be convicted. Gaskill,
also writes that the court systems prior to the Hopkins witch trials, people began to question intangible
evidence coming from the accusers and the witnesses. This shows that before the English Civil War,
the courts where yes, being tried for witchcraft, but the courts were also demanding solid evidence
against the accused person. During the late sixteenth century and early years of the seventeenth
century, many trials were being questioned by

Communications, The Mechanistic Perspective
Communication the process of transmitting and receiving ideas, information, and messages. The rapid
transmission of information over long distances and ready access to information have become
conspicuous and important features of human society, especially in the past 150 years.
The encyclopedia definition of communication encompasses the ideas of exchanging a variety of
messages with others. This is important to remember when looking at communications within an
organization.
The whole process of communications within organizations is very complex and is certainly one of the
major factors in determining whether an organization will succeed or not. The following paper deals

The point is to utilize the best transmission method in order to minimize the decoding difficulty for the
receiver.
Non verbal cues are those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in
regulating the interaction between people. The text organizes the cues into seven categories and
includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye
behavior and vocalics.
One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was included in
chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate dressing for success. Some
examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at flea markets,
dressing down is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should dress to show
that he is successful, but not ostentatious.
In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether suit and tie or casual are the choice for
the client s organization. This non verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base for the
remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation while it is
ongoing.

Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment
There have been countless studies done on whether corporal punishment actually works, or if it, in
fact, is instead causing long term adverse effects. Corporal punishment today is seen less and less with
this new generations parents. Corporal punishment was mainly seen in parenting before the 2000s.
Cloud (2009) states that sociologist, Murray Straus, found that in a 1968 survey that had taken place,
94% of Americans agreed that corporal punishment was seen as an acceptable form of discipline. This
percentage was then drastically dropped when Americans were re surveyed, and 72% of those people
agreed that spanking was deemed reasonable (Cloud, 2009).

Patrick Lenta (2012) speaks on the injustice that children experience when they are spanked. Lenta
(2012) expresses how these children have rights, just as adults, to not be mistreated unjustly, and how
corporal punishment violates these basic rights. He then discusses how corporal punishment has been
found to have serious psychological harm to the child, such as fear, or mental issues. This, in turn,
could cause the child to have a harder time focusing on his or her schoolwork due to all the fear, and
psychological issues they are trying to deal with as well as trying to keep up their good grades. Since
the child might have a hard time focusing on school work, this could cause them to start to fail
academically, which is an unwanted behavior to most parents, causing them to get spanked, and this
vicious cycle repeats. It has been found, that a type of psychological effect that has been found in
those children who have experienced corporal punishment as a child has lead to have post traumatic
stress disorder, in the same way, abused children have had (Nyarko, 2017). Nyarko (2017) argues that
there has been a correlation between low self esteem and corporal punishment, and how there is a
correlation between self esteem and academic performance. In turn, this could cause the children who

Peace Conference Essay
During the peace conference simulation, my character was Tamir and I am on the Israeli side. My
character s beliefs are that I am willing to compromise on the West Bank, the Refugees being allowed
to return Israel as a compromise, and the city Jerusalem. Also, my other character s belief is that there
is no compromise on security in Israel. Those are the beliefs of my character as Tamir in the peace
conference simulation.
For my character I played in the peace conference simulation, I feel out of 5 I would give myself a 3.5
out of 5. I rated myself at this score because I could not persuade the leaders to accept my ideas for the
West Bank because they felt that giving 45% of the West Bank was a small number for our first
proposal. Another reason was that the leaders did not like my idea of letting 350,000 refugees back
into Israel out of 700,000 because they thought the number of refugees was to many. Also, with
Jerusalem, I offered 45% to be given to the Palestinians, but the leaders felt there really should not be

Fate And Free Will In Julius Caesar
The context of individuals affects their perspectives of continuing human affairs. Julius Caesar was
written by William Shakespeare in 1599 during the English Renaissance and The Prince was
composed in the 16th century by an Italian diplomat, Niccolo Machiavelli. Both composers represent
the ideas of fate and free will and ambition and the struggle for power through various literary and
dramatic techniques. Due to both composer s contexts, they are able to convey the ideas and
perspectives of ongoing human concerns to the responder.
The context of both composers helps to demonstrate how fate and free will is contrasted with political
struggles and the influence of power on individuals. Niccolo Machiavelli, in a time of intense political

In The Prince, the changing of roles that was taking place in Florence at the hands of the Medici
family were shown to be driven by a desire for increased power. Machiavelli metaphorically states
that the Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus, was feared and respected by all parties and he managed
to avoid being hated by the army. By stating that the Emperor was a fox and a lion , Machiavelli leads
the responder to consider that his ambition for power was achieved by using false teamwork: the lion
can t defend itself against snares and the fox can t defend itself from wolves. So you have to play the

Incentives are seen everywhere in daily life and they appear in a variety of ways. Whether a person is
making a choice between what to eat for lunch or when to go to bed, they are being influence by
incentives. For example, images of an appealing lunch meal in a TV commercial may make someone
choose Subway over Mcdonalds. However, the same thought process can motivate someone to prefer
a meal at McDonalds because of the company s constant promotion of their dollar menu (Mcdonalds,
2013). Either of these incentives can appeal to a person, depending on what they are motivated by, in
this case, either health or money.
The Bible is full of different forms of incentives. Some people can skim the Bible and note its major
incentive; the opportunity for eternal life. However a deeper knowledge of what God says shows
many more incentives. Other incentives are exemplified in the Bible: believers have faith which gives
them peace (Romans 5:1), faith leads to loving the Creator and experiencing His love (Psalms 85:10),
and the knowledge of right and wrong gives an opportunity for forgiveness (Acts 2:38). All of these
reasons for believing the Bible, along with many more, can motivate a person to choose that specific
approach to life.
In its essence, an incentive is a deliberate proposal calculated to make a person choose a certain
action. Thus, the reason why incentives are so popular in society is because everything and

God And Classical Theism
The term theism, obtained from the Greek theos, or god , typically refers to belief in God, the notion
that all finite things are dependent on one supreme, self existent reality who is spoken of as having
personal essence or identity. God is widely regarded to have attributes that human beings are also
capable of emulating. In classical theism, God is described as having attributes such as goodness, love,
grace, compassion, and other personal attributes that are common to human beings as well. Attributes
which can be enhanced through our determination and responsibility (Mackie, 1983). Classical theism
can be identified by its fundamental articles of faith: First, it includes a god who is involved within the
human world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternatively, the theist s more typical assertion is that God does not have a creator. The assertion that
there exists an entity who is the author of all things, should also be regarded with the distinction other
than himself. Secondly, the theist is not making the assertion that God is the inventor of prime
numbers, interpropositional relations or concepts. Some concepts, notions or ideas exist as a direct
result of a need that is simply based on logic. Things which exist as a matter of logical need do not
typically exist in tangible form and that they exist cannot be the work of any creator; as they exist
simply because they are (Robinson, 1963). The opinion that God solely causes everything is known as
occasionalism. Occasionalism is a version of Cartesian metaphysics, that thrived in the last half of the
17th century, based on the belief that all communication between mind and body is arbitrated by God.
Occasionalism suggests that mind and body do not interact directly, however, the impression of direct
communication is sustained by God, who drives the body on the mind s urging and who places
suggestions in the mind when the body meets other material provocations (Swinburne,

today is science fiction. Many times I have seen a sci fi movie filed under comedy or drama. That is
one of the major things that has led to my love for science fiction, the simple fact that it can be so
much more than just science fiction. I would like to present a definition of what science fiction is in
this paper. My definition will not be exact, because so many people have a different idea of what
counts as sci fi and, not only that, but we may have found yet another venue for science fiction by the
time this paper is complete. In order to define what science fiction is and to support my definition, I
am going to give some examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could argue that this is just a fictional story or even fantasy, but it still retains an element of
science and, therefore, falls into the category of science fiction.
Time travel: is it really science fiction? Some people would not agree that it is true sci fi since there
are so many arguments as to why time travel cannot exist. Personally, I think time travel is science
fiction since it is based on our laws of physics and can be shown mathematically using Physics
(relativity, etc.). Since I believe time travel falls into this category, I would like to give a great example
of a time traveling story. H.G. Wells The Time Machine is a fantastic story about a scientist who is
ridiculed by his peers for his theories on time travel and even examples he shows them. He ends up
traveling through time in a machine that he built and has a fantastic adventure.
An interesting addition to this list of science fiction is Jurassic Park, the book and movie. The first
time that someone mentioned this was sci fi to me I was a little surprised, but after thinking about it
for a second I realized they were right. The dinosaurs were created using a scientific process and,
somewhat, neatly explained within the story. Every time I watched that movie I had never stopped to
think about what genre it was, which happens with many people I m sure and not just with that movie.
This is one of my favorite examples of science fiction because people normally just think

The Levels Of Field Managers And Their Relationships
The 4 Levels of Field Managers and their Relationships
Multi unit enterprises are large corporations that own or manage several stores around the country. For
example Target, Walmart, Home Depot, large hotel chains like Marriott and car dealerships. How do
this corporations manage such an extensive number of stores? How do they all look and act the same?
According to David A. Garvin and Lynne C. Levesque authors of the HBR article The Multiunit
Enterprise, these large corporations need a hierarchy of field managers that will effectively lead all
stores. To manage large enterprises there needs to be a certain order, this is where the different
management hierarchies come in. Every single step up the ladder has a larger responsibility and more
control over benchmarks and setting goals. However, you can never forget that it s a team effort. It s
about strengthening relationships to be able to work together and communicate effectively.
There are four levels of field managers; store manager, district managers, regional vice presidents and
divisional heads. Although this might vary from industry to industry this is believed to be true for the
majority of large corporations.
Store managers: are responsible for both the day to day operations and the execution of new
initiatives. Although they have several goals based on their performance such as financial targets,
customer service benchmarks and employee satisfaction goals but they have little say in setting those
goals. On the

The Dangers of Shirking Responsibility in Arthur Miller s All My Sons
Arthur Miller s All My Sons is a well made play in every sense of that term. It not only is carefully
and logically constructed, but addresses its themes fully and effectively. The play communicates
different ideas on war, materialism, family, and honesty. However, the main focus, especially at the
play s climax, is the issue of personal responsibility. In particular, Miller demonstrates the dangers of
shirking responsibility and, then, ascribing blame to others.
Nearly every character in All My Sons, in one way or another, fails to take responsibility. The Keller
family, as a whole, is severely dysfunctional in that they keep secrets and ... Show more content on

The ramifications of his action is that not only did young men die in the war but his friend and
business partner, Steve, was sent to prison for the crime.
Meanwhile, Joe continues to live as a free, but possibly haunted, man. There is great irony in his
speech about his return home from jail:
The story was, I pulled a fast one getting myself exonerated. So I get out of my car, and I walk down
the street. But very slow. And with a smile. The beast!. I was the beast; the guy who sold cracked
cylinder heads to the Army Air Force; the guy who made twenty one P 40 s crash in Australia. (628)
His cool words of innocence seem to belie the fear of being found out and the continual struggle to
convince himself that he really is not guilty. He does, as the saying goes, protest too much. The truth,
when revealed at the end, really is more than he can live with. When others recognize what he has
known in his heart all along, Joe kills himself.
As mentioned above, All My Sons is not just about the failure to be responsible; it is about blaming
others for one s own wrongs, that includes giving responsibility to another for one s own life. This,
too, is a facet of almost every character s personality. While Joe, again, is the major character to give
blame, others do as well.
Steve s children, George and Ann, place much responsibility for their own actions on Chris. George

Pros And Cons Of Deductions
Last but not the least, although §179 immediate expensing and bonus depreciation appear to be
beneficial to Patriot, those favorable tax treatments can change in future years depending on the
Congress. Chances are high that §179 deduction will be limited to a smaller amount and bonus
depreciation will be excluded for future years. Therefore it is rather crucial for Patriot to change
existing accounting method to maximize deductions and to avoid any risks of potentially getting
examined by the IRS. To begin with, Patriot should develop a formal written accounting manual

The American Of The British Empire
In marked contrast to the monarchy and the dispute about the rights of succession and control over the
Spanish Empire, the American colonies sought independence from the British monarchy and
government. The Americans wanted a completely new government, without a King or any form of
monarchy. While the Spanish crisis was one of leadership, connection to other empires, a desire to
avoid partition. The American crisis in government came about through the actions of the King, and
the colonists questioning the authority of the British Parliament to rule over them.
The American colonies served an important role in the British Empire during the first half of the 1700
s. King George III ascended to the throne in 1760, and took control of the empire and its vast
territories. The British Constitution provided for the monarchial rule, and two representative bodies
the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. None of the British colonies had representation in
these houses, and this proved to be the issue with the American colonies. The colonies administration
technically fell under the Privy Council and Secretary of State. Parliament made policy regarding the
colonies, and defined the economic relationship between England and the colonies. Governors acted
locally in the King s name and enforced the laws. The colonies also had their own political institutions
in the form of local assemblies, legislatures, and county, city and town governments. Most of the

Tangerine Competitiveness Quotes
If winning isn t everything, then why do they keep score? Vince Lombardi I think this quote represents
competitiveness because when you re playing with your friends at the park usually you just play for

the game if you lose, you feel mad. Victor shows a lot of this he tries his best but when he wins he is
happy because he put in the work and he got the win, when he loses then he is frustrated because he

Essay on The Power of Words
The Power of Words Communication and language are not always synonymous. Gesticulations and
facial expression can convey certain messages that often make verbal expression unnecessary.
Although I appreciate the endless possibilities that are associated with speaking, our primary means of
communication, I have discovered that the human capacity for speech might not be as extremely
innate as the linguist Noam Chomsky claimed. A few years ago, I had the privilege of encountering a
thirty five year old woman named Joann at a summer camp for adults with multiple disabilities. Being
extremely autistic, Joann was unable to close her mouth, let alone form distinguishable words. Instead
of talking, her principal method of communication was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genie was never able to learn how to properly talk and was rendered verbally impotent by her silent
environment, but according to Dennett, shouldn t she have been able to learn? However, Joann did
seem to be able to understand what was being said to her, though she was not capable of responding
since she was able to comprehend and follow simple directions. Even some of the most autistic people
in the camp were able to recognize when someone was talking to them, which confirms the innateness
of oral comprehension, but not speaking. Understanding and talking are not interchangeable, so a
clarification is needed in order to distinguish the two. I sometimes have moments in which a verbal
freeze occurs, in which I have a thought that I can t manage to verbalize. Perhaps Joann lives in a
constant state where she is unable to express what she is thinking the thought processes are there, but
the language is not. If this is true, then the capacity for language is innate, but cannot be so simply
accessed in all people. Therefore, is it possible for Joann to think without using language? Are
language and thought somehow linked? For our Neanderthal and early human forbearers, verbal
communication probably consisted of a series of grunts and gestures and language as we know it
today subsequently ensued. Thus, did thought precede language? Our ancestors were able to create fire
without words, which displays some form of intellect, but I think that

Analysis Of The Book Meridian By Alice Walker
Alice Walker once said, No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies you the right to
grow. Due to the extreme patriarchal society based in the sixties era, women s voices were often
disregarded and silenced. In the historical novel Meridian, by Alice Walker, the main female
protagonist, Meridian, struggles to comply with the harsh patriarchal systems set in place in her
community, in turn, she uses her silence as a form of resistance. She has various encounters with a
man named Truman, whom she is in love with, but fears she s not good enough because of the color of
her skin. She begins articulate her thoughts and acting without explanation. To replace her silenced
voice, Walker uses third person omniscient and characterization. Meridian is a woman with endless
thoughts and questions that she neglects to voice or ask. The root of Meridian s resistant manner stems
from the uncomfortable power struggle she has with men, like Truman, because of the expectations of
women in the sixties. Men were placed above women and women s opinions were deemed irrelevant.
The author s usage of third person omniscient reveals Meridian s subconscious thoughts during
moments where her voice is overpowered by a male character. For example, She was also tempted to
add white exchange students. But how polite she was! (Walker 108). In this scene Meridian runs into
Truman and begins a dialogue about his beliefs. Meridian is embarrassed by Truman s infatuation with

So this protocol was proposed so that we can save and reduce the gas that affects our ozone layer that
was protecting us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. This protocol was working when the scientist
confirmed that the ozone layer was slowly to recover around 2050. There are many advantages that we
get when Montreal Protocol was proposed by the government. Firstly, the Montreal Protocol can give
dual benefit to the society or human. This is because the Montreal Protocol has given help to reduce
global warming and at the same times protect the ozone layer. This was proven according to the
research that was done by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. That research also

Pact Of Silence
While the setting of the novel, Barcelona, was essentially the center of the deadly Spanish Civil War,
when the author Zafón was writing the story, Barcelona (along with the rest of Spain) was engaged in
what was known as the pact of silence (Bethune 65). This pact of silence was fragile in every nature,
with citizens and government members alike choosing to keep quiet and not to stir the national
demons. Following several years of civil war, Spain was placed under the dictatorial rule of Francisco
Franco, who remained dictator until his death in 1975 (Bethune 65). It was after Franco s death that
the pact of silence was put into practice as a kind of national safeguard, in some ways allowing the
citizens of Spain to be able to relax again without having to constantly be reminded of the war s
deadly consequences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My view on poetry is that you should tell a story or add to another tale while using action words to

moving.

Oswald sighed as he glanced outside, at the uncolored broken and thinned worlds that the view from
being on mickeyjunk Mountain gives.
The mountain itself was covered with forgotten Mickey Merchandise. Mickey clocks, telephones,
cards, and lunch boxes ten times their size, scattered on the mountain.
Beyond the mountain was destroyed by the green pool on thinner.
Leaving only the old projector screens the only way, for toon to even travel to the mountain.
When the black and white rabbit was about to turn something caught his eyes, a stream of blue paint
was hitting where small TV s were thinned, years at the bottom of the mountain.
The rabbit ears folded back as he huffed and turned away.
He knew the mouse was going to come to see him sooner or later, and being prepared meant only
checking up on the few of his, blue and white bunnie children that stayed at the bottom of the
mountain.
Stomping the older disney cartoon marched to his chair, and plopped down, and turned it to the

The Spiritual Discipline Of Practicing The Presence
Introduction
Practicing the presence is to develop a continual openness and awareness of Christ s presence living in

The most recent neuropsychology assessment revealed deficits including: impaired hemi spatial neglect, impaired selective attention, flat affect, impaired affective auditory comprehension, disturbance of emotional facial recognition, problems with working memory, and problems with reduplicative paramnesia. Hemi spatial neglect is a condition in which patients fail to respond to stimuli on the side of the body opposite the brain injury (Myers Blake, 2008) Neglect may be caused by injury in either brain hemisphere, however, it is more sever and persistent after a right hemisphere brain injury (Brookshire, 2015). When assessing Phillip, I would assess the following domains: orientation to person, place, and time (e.g. name, location, day of week), selective attention (e.g. counting backward from 30 by 3 s), memory (e.g. delayed recall of a word list), abstract verbal reasoning and problem solving (auditory comprehension of complex sentences e.g. Is your father s mother your aunt? ), and visuospatial skills (clock drawing). After administering the ENH RHS, I should have a better understanding of the cognitive communicative impairments likely to be experienced by Phillip (Brookshire, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain the five elements and illustrate your discussion with examples of successful companies from the world business. Strategy is all about making important choices in a business. Donald Hambrick and James Fredrickson created the five elements of strategy as way to reveal what the bits and pieces of strategy are and how these elements fit together (Sourcesofinsight.com, 2017). THE FIVE MAJOR ELEMENTS OF STRATEGY There are five main elements of strategy. They involve Arenas: Where will we be active? (Quilliam, 2016). Vehicle: How will we get there? (Quilliam, 2016). Differentiators: How will we win in the market place? (Quilliam, 2016). Staging: What will be our speed and sequences of moves? (Quilliam, 2016). Economic Logic: How will we obtain our returns? For instance, a firm that wants to go international can do so in different ways (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). In a recent drive to enter certain international markets, Walmart has opened new stores and grown organically. Doing this showed that Wal Mart developed all the stores internally as opposed to acquiring stores that are already based in the countries it wanted to enter (2012books.lardbucket.org, 2017). Most believe that family law is marriage, divorce, child custody, and murders between members of a family. Their thoughts are indeed correct, but family law is so much more than that. Below I will discuss my reasons for choosing family law, plaintiff/defendant,and the tasks of the paralegal. Family law is an important body of law that defines relationships, rights, and duties in the formation, ongoing existence, and dissolution of marriage and other family units. Some people choose to express their true identity and true self, others hide their intentions and attitude to protect themselves. The next day his bag was tossed at him as he crossed the street to the courts. Later that day he noticed his writing was corrected and marked with errors. This technique, among its several uses, allows to estimate changes in the mechanical properties of tissue when the presence of a diseases is suspected. A typical use of this technique is in the breast cancer examination: the cancer is often revealed as a stiffening of glandular tissue, which would be normally soft. Even though palpation remains an important tool for clinicians, its limited use only to accessible tissue, its limited disease detectability and spatial discrimination, and the subjectiveness of its interpretation, motivates the need to improve the mechanical properties detection of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Artificial tissues and organs have been developed both to replicate the function of the original organ and to reproduce its mechanical properties under physiologic conditions, in order to improve the chance for the patient to return to normal activities. Several mechanical tests have to be applied for measuring static and dynamic properties of materials and most of them involve applying a force to the material and measuring its displacement. Through these tests, measuring the stress applied and the resulting strain, it is possible to calculate material properties such as the Young modulus, the physical parameter corresponding to the material stiffness. The results of these experiments will depend on many mechanical properties of the material and it is often very common, in order to simplify the mathematical relationships between stresses and strains and improve the interpretation of the responses, to make several assumptions about the material characteristics: The material is assumed to be infinite: this means that boundary conditions and effects can be ignored; The material is assumed to be homogeneous: within the area where the test is performed we can consider only a smaller set of parameters ignoring changes of mechanical properties in space; The material is linearly viscoelastic: the relationship between the applied ... In those trials according to Gaskill, English trials followed common law principles: lay jurors had to be persuaded by lay witnesses. Lenta (2012) expresses how these children have rights, just as adults, to not be mistreated unjustly, and how corporal punishment violates these basic rights. He then discusses how corporal punishment has been found to have serious psychological harm to the child, such as fear, or mental issues. This, in turn, could cause the child to have a harder time focusing on his or her schoolwork due to all the fear, and psychological issues they are trying to deal with as well as trying to keep up their good grades. Since the child might have a hard time focusing on school work, this could cause them to start to fail academically, which is an unwanted behavior to most parents, causing them to get spanked, and this vicious cycle repeats. It has been found, that a type of psychological effect that has been found in those children who have experienced corporal punishment as a child has lead to have post traumatic stress disorder, in the same way, abused children have had (Nyarko, 2017). Whether a person is making a choice between what to eat for lunch or when to go to bed, they are being influence by incentives. For example, images of an appealing lunch meal in a TV commercial may make someone choose Subway over Mcdonalds. However, the same thought process can motivate someone to prefer a meal at McDonalds because of the company s constant promotion of their dollar menu (Mcdonalds, 2013). Either of these incentives can appeal to a person, depending on what they are motivated by, in this case, either health or money. The Bible is full of different forms of incentives. Some people can skim the Bible and note its major incentive; the opportunity for eternal life. However a deeper knowledge of what God says shows many more incentives. Other incentives are exemplified in the Bible: believers have faith which gives them peace (Romans 5:1), faith leads to loving the Creator and experiencing His love (Psalms 85:10), and the knowledge of right and wrong gives an opportunity for forgiveness (Acts 2:38). All of these reasons for believing the Bible, along with many more, can motivate a person to choose that specific approach to life. In its essence, an incentive is a deliberate proposal calculated to make a person choose a certain action. Thus, the reason why incentives are so popular in society is because everything and ... • 20. God And Classical Theism The term theism, obtained from the Greek theos, or god , typically refers to belief in God, the notion that all finite things are dependent on one supreme, self existent reality who is spoken of as having personal essence or identity. God is widely regarded to have attributes that human beings are also capable of emulating. In classical theism, God is described as having attributes such as goodness, love, grace, compassion, and other personal attributes that are common to human beings as well. Attributes which can be enhanced through our determination and responsibility (Mackie, 1983). Alternatively, the theist s more typical assertion is that God does not have a creator. The assertion that there exists an entity who is the author of all things, should also be regarded with the distinction other than himself. Some concepts, notions or ideas exist as a direct result of a need that is simply based on logic. Things which exist as a matter of logical need do not typically exist in tangible form and that they exist cannot be the work of any creator; as they exist simply because they are (Robinson, 1963). The opinion that God solely causes everything is known as occasionalism. Occasionalism is a version of Cartesian metaphysics, that thrived in the last half of the 17th century, based on the belief that all communication between mind and body is arbitrated by God. Occasionalism suggests that mind and body do not interact directly, however, the impression of direct communication is sustained by God, who drives the body on the mind s urging and who places suggestions in the mind when the body meets other material provocations (Swinburne, ... I would like to present a definition of what science fiction is in this paper. My definition will not be exact, because so many people have a different idea of what counts as sci fi and, not only that, but we may have found yet another venue for science fiction by the time this paper is complete. Time travel: is it really science fiction? Some people would not agree that it is true sci fi since there are so many arguments as to why time travel cannot exist. Personally, I think time travel is science fiction since it is based on our laws of physics and can be shown mathematically using Physics (relativity, etc.). Since I believe time travel falls into this category, I would like to give a great example of a time traveling story. H.G. Wells The Time Machine is a fantastic story about a scientist who is ridiculed by his peers for his theories on time travel and even examples he shows them. He ends up traveling through time in a machine that he built and has a fantastic adventure. An interesting addition to this list of science fiction is Jurassic Park, the book and movie. The first time that someone mentioned this was sci fi to me I was a little surprised, but after thinking about it for a second I realized they were right. The dinosaurs were created using a scientific process and, somewhat, neatly explained within the story. Every time I watched that movie I had never stopped to think about what genre it was, which happens with many people I m sure and not just with that movie. The British Constitution provided for the monarchial rule, and two representative bodies the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. None of the British colonies had representation in these houses, and this proved to be the issue with the American colonies. The colonies administration technically fell under the Privy Council and Secretary of State. Gesticulations and facial expression can convey certain messages that often make verbal expression unnecessary. Although I appreciate the endless possibilities that are associated with speaking, our primary means of communication, I have discovered that the human capacity for speech might not be as extremely innate as the linguist Noam Chomsky claimed. Even some of the most autistic people in the camp were able to recognize when someone was talking to them, which confirms the innateness of oral comprehension, but not speaking. Understanding and talking are not interchangeable, so a clarification is needed in order to distinguish the two. I sometimes have moments in which a verbal freeze occurs, in which I have a thought that I can t manage to verbalize. Perhaps Joann lives in a constant state where she is unable to express what she is thinking the thought processes are there, but the language is not. If this is true, then the capacity for language is innate, but cannot be so simply accessed in all people. Therefore, is it possible for Joann to think without using language? Are language and thought somehow linked? The root of Meridian s resistant manner stems from the uncomfortable power struggle she has with men, like Truman, because of the expectations of women in the sixties.
