In Peter Shaffer s play, Equus, one of the main characters is a psychiatrist named Martin Dysart
who specializes with adolescents. The play begins with a seventeen year old boy named Alan
Strang and a horse named Nugget. Alan is showing great affection towards the horse. Suddenly, a
man in his forties is shown holding a cigarette. This man is Martin Dysart, the first character to
speak in the play. He begins with a monologue describing Alan and the horse. Rather than focusing
on the young boy, Dysart is examining the horse and its purpose. Using his psychiatric brain, Dysart

Set aside the physical demands of conditioning, a fight lasts as short as a one punch knock out to
the full fifteen to twenty minute battle. Twenty minutes of being punched in the face, kicked in
the ribs legs and face, getting body slammed onto the wooden mat, and being choked until
submission or loss of consciousness would toughen a human far more than the toll a body takes
in any other sport. Another factor that is somewhat overlooked is the effect fans have on a sport
and its events. With a truly passionate group of fans, a sport can really excel. The quick growth
of the UFC fan base may cause the opposition to question the true loyalty and passion of the fans
of the UFC. Just watching an event live, however, you can really see the intrigue and energy in
the building. And if the sport pulls you in, you may feel the energy yourself. One reason for this
energy is the sheer excitement of a fight. Another reason, and possibly the reason for the
excitement, is the complexity of the sport of MMA. At first glance of an uninformed eye, the
UFC literally looks like an unorganized street fight in an octagon shaped cage. Upon spending a
small amount of time openly watching a single fight, one will begin to recognize the commonly

Whyte and the Street Life Project were setting up cameras at public places like plazas, urban
streets, and parks. They were doing this to capture how the spaces in cities were actually being
used by people and to observe patterns in the behavior of people out in public places. The
temperature, what people were doing, whether they were eating, talking or reading the paper, and
the time of the day were all mapped. It was observed that people look at other people. For
instance, some group of guys would watch the girls but they would never actually talk to them. The
film also talked about how people would sit near or under trees because it brought them comfort.

how water was also something that people enjoyed as it was implemented by the water
fountains. People enjoyed the sound of the water, the look of it, and the way it made them feel
cool and refreshed. People were also shown putting their feet in the water, playing and splashing.
Food was also another factor of the plazas that people enjoyed. People would sell food in carts at
the plaza, people found them attracting as it was a good place to stop by if they were to have
gotten hungry. People even socialized around these food places in the plaza. Another topic that
was talked about was the scale of the place. The scale was important because some places were
very spacious, however, there would be no people there. There would be small spaces that were
used up by people and they would get full and there were very spacious places that would also
get full. The size should have been big enough for people to use. The study has had an impact on
