In a quest to explore Christianity, Marshall Petersen began visiting the Sunday school with the
encouragement of his wife. I am his Sunday school teacher and upon further communication, I
informed him of the high antioxidant qualities of the Muscadine grapes my family s produce
company sells, and I asked him if he might be interested in promoting either the grapes
themselves or the various products developed using their seeds. He was interested. The grapes
became a hot commodity and over six months, he paid for orders and delivery has been prompt,
and no issues about payments even though they can be 15 to 30 days late. During one of the
deliveries, Marshall made my son signed a contract that includes a guaranteed price schedule
consistent with what he had been paying. Marshall told him that it was just a formality to
guarantee a continuing business relationship. The signing of that contract established a formal
business agreement between the two companies. Our business transactions were running
perfectly, we were trying to meet the demand for our product, and until recently when a
company in Texas offered to pay me twice the going rate for my products. I informed Marshall as
I don t want to leave him out to dry. He was very angry and he told me that he expects me to
continue to supply him with all the product he needs, when he needs it, and at the prices he had
always paid, per the requirements contract between our businesses and in accordance with an

Essay on Violent Video Games Raise Aggression
Throughout history man kind has always searched for ways to entertain himself, each time
developing new activities and games. Video games have become a very popular way to spend
time and have fun from the 1970 s up to now. With new developments appeared different video
game genres from adventure to racing, but the violent video games appear to be the most popular
ones (Shin, 2003), for example: shooters, fighting and video games where you have to eliminate,
destroy, or kill your enemies. Video games have become very influential on children and adults
(Stafford, 1999). With violent video games humans are more prone to act aggressively, to have
aggressive thoughts and become numb towards violence (Harding, 2009). Apart from these they are

Now a day however VDU s have evolved and we created LCD s with higher quality and standard
giving the opportunity for violent video games to be more graphic and real (Stafford, 1999) like
for example when characters get shot a large spray of blood covers the walls and floor near the
character (Shin, 2003). The processor of the consoles has also been a key factor to the
development of more real looking violent video games. From Intel s 4004 microprocessor up to
Intel s core 2 duo E8500 processor we have seen how computers are able to do more tasks in less
time. This development has given a way for violent video games to be more free in the sense
that more actions can be made, the virtual worlds are bigger and there are more objectives to be
done or enemies to be eliminated. C.The impact of the issue Violence in video games has been
proved to raise the aggression on video gamers in the short and long term, whether it s in their
language, attitude or actions. Also video games not only cause this but they also decrease
prosocial behavior and empathy (Anderson, 2010). Violent video games have been one of the
main reasons why students decide to shoot everyone in an educational institution like the well
known Columbine Massacre in 1999. [They] liked to play Doom (a computer game) in the

Abstract
In this paper I will be describing the levels of environmental regulations in Thailand and
Singapore. The legislation regarding Thailand and Singapore s working hours and wages will also
be described and discussed. I will then be explaining if I believe these regulations regarding
environmental and labor laws are sufficient enough.
Describe the two countries environmental regulation levels.
The neighboring Southeast Asian countries of Singapore and Malaysia have very different
environmental regulations. Singapore is a small city state with ... Show more content on

Since Singapore is a developed state its priority is to maximize its immediate economic
opportunities while protecting business organizations from scrutiny by NGO s or the wider
community. Malaysia has experienced a greater growth of environmental concern than Singapore,
judging by the activity of environmental NGO s that seek to apply and regulate behavior.
Describe the two selected countries versions of wage and working hour legislation. In Singapore
as of December 2009, 85% of the workforce in the private sector was employed in establishments
that had some form of flexible wage system, up marginally by 84% in 2008. It is known best for
its thriving business economy. According to WEF Global Competitiveness Report, it is the most
competitive economy in Asia (Bernhardt, 2010). According to World Bank it s the easiest place in
Asia to invest and do business. It s common for businesses in Singapore to use employment
contracts with employees. A contract typically contains information about duties, salary, work
hours, benefits, and terminating and is documented in writing (Bernhardt, 2010). There is no
minimum wage for workers in Singapore. The only stipulation in the Employment Act is that
employees are paid in a timely fashion, at least once a month. The employee may not work more
than 8 hours daily or 44 hours a week. They must also get a break after

The Short Story Of Bravery In Unbroken
This summer I was at the Ottawa County fair doing the off road Derby. I wasn t sure about doing it
at first, but my mom and dad said I would be fine.I got to choose what number I was and I got to
choose what color it was too. In the end my mom and dad were right, it was fun and I got 3rd place
for my first time. By doing the derby for the first time I showed Bravery. Bravery has risks and to
other people they could be good risks and bad risks. The character s Louie from the book Unbroken

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animals
Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and
witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one
gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the
Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My
first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was a dogwho
despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the
signs of basic signs of defense or threats.I didn t walk her because she was on the category of red
. Red meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to
walk said red dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who s
name was Cody, he was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to
the fact he was roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet
determined that the leg had to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more
and was just getting in his way of a better quality of life. The day after Cody s surgery Cody
walked up the two flights of steps to get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured
leg amputated he was acting like the puppy he should be acting. Sadly, Cody passed was recently

Point of View in Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
In her short story The Yellow Wallpaper , Charlotte Perkins Gilman uses an interesting means in
which to allow the reader into the mind of the narrator: a woman who conforms under the pressures
of not only society but also her husband. The narrator experiences a mental break after struggling
with the urge to rebel against expectations placed on her to be an ordinary, healthy woman and not
what she really is: a woman suffering postpartum depression at a time when postpartum was not
considered a legitimate condition. Gilman manipulates her usage of the point of view having the
story told through a journal, having the perspective as first person, and having the breakdown of ...

When reading a story, readers can often find themselves relating to the characters and feeling
what they are experiencing. Gilman achieved this connection between reader and narrator
through her use of personal pronouns. The personal pronouns used throughout the story, such as I
, me and we , when opposed to having emotions explained through the distance of a third person
point of view, help the reader understand the struggle the narrator goes through. For instance, in
the sentence, I don t want to go out, and I don t want to have anybody come in, till John comes. I
want to astonish him (Gilman 655), this is the narrator s ultimate form of rebellion; she is locking
her husband out of the room that he has kept her confined to. Gilman puts the narrator s own
thoughts into the readers minds through her use of I , instead of having them watch the narrator
enter this state of rebellion through third person she , so the reader could feel the narrators the
desire to rebel. If in the case where the usage of personal pronouns does not put the reader in the
mental state of the narrator, the second advantage of using first person perspective is that it makes
it seem as if the narrator revealing her personal thoughts to us, which elicits sympathy from the
reader. This revealing of personal thought is seen specifically when the narrator writes, And I ll tell
you why privately В I ve seen her! (Gilman 655). The narrator is referring the shapes she is seeing
moving around in the wallpaper in her room. She has begun to, at this point, see a woman
stooping down and creeping behind the pattern (Gilman 652) but has not mentioned this to her
husband out of fear of causing him grief with her silly fancies (Gilman 652). The woman becomes
real in the narrator s head, and instead of telling her husband, she reveals of this

Food Safety In Health And Social Care Essay
Employers must ensure that food safety legislations are implemented and adhered to in the
workplace. Employers of food businesses or organisations must also appoint an employee or two
or more people to ensure that workers comply with Food Safety and Health and Safety
legislations. In most organisations and businesses, administration implements such policies. In care
settings such as hospitals or schools, the Health and Safety Officer creates and implements such
policies. Health and Safety Officers or managers play a significant role in ensuring work

Food hygiene is important because it prevents food poisoning and also prevents food

prevents sickness or death. It is important for the catering manager to promote food and safety

The Fascinating Age of Technology
The technology which is around almost everyone in the today s and future society, affects both
work and personal activities. Technology hold data that many would rather it didn t have. It
directs minds in great and horrible ways, and it allows people to learn information which they
would otherwise not be able to learn. Even though a person doesn t own a device or have a bank
card, there is information in a system somewhere on the earth.
The modern technology which is now beginning to be shaped and secured to allow children to
attain the information easier and teens in ways that allow them to construct their life plans in a
more knowledgeable way. It is conflicting with our immediate future. It gives another form of
communication and ability to share information that hasn t ever been available before, data that
is both good and bad. Different situations affect how happy we re with our lives. This age of
technology focuses on changing the situations to make us happier with our lives. The happier we
are with our lives, the more money companies such as Apple and Microsoft make more money
because we will spend more money on their products. We are basically the guinea pigs for
companies like the two mentioned. We are basically on this earth to either help create a better
technological development or to be the user s that provide Apple and Microsoft with the money to

Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn t
November 18, 2014
Ebeling 2
Intro:
How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track,
or court? College athletes are put to the test each and everyday, they risk their health to entertain
millions day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they
bring in for their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have
time to get a job because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should
also get paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities.
College athletes also should not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship
money. College athletes deserve to get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so
the NCAA and their sponsors can make money.
Lit Review:
Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should
get paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the
NCAA, how it is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they
generate revenue for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college
athletes should not get paid. They

Pride And Tris In Insurgent By Veronica Roth
People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you

of this book is in some way related to trust. Tris and Tobias, the main characters, are star crossed

to find out the secrets of the government. Some of their friends and family are traitors; they did
not know whom to trust. Tris s brother, Caleb, pretended that he was working with Tris. But to
Tris s surprise, Caleb was leaking their information to the Eruidite. In the end, Tris, Tobias, and

William Blake Argument
Did he who made the Lamb make thee? William Blake, The Tyger. This line in particular turns
William Blake s poem from simple to complex. This line shows that there is two very strong sides
to Blake s thinking. Why would God create such a terrifying creature, as the tiger, when it only
causes harm? In The Lamb, Blake describes Godas meek and mild. However, if God is meek and
mild, how could He possible create such a beast? As many read these two poems, they step back
and wonder, which side do they follow? Should we believe God to be all good, or is there a darker
side to this story? A common defense for the tiger would be, God works in mysterious ways, or, It s
all of God s plan. Nevertheless, that is not a direct answer. Why does He... Show more content on

One thing I like religion for is the morals. Many religions believe that you shouldn t put harmful
things into your body. They may also promote abstinence or not dating until a certain age. They
can also contradict their good morals with something such as being homosexual is bad. I do not
believe gay marriage is wrong, so I would not be able to fully commit to that religion if that was
one of the beliefs. What are the benefits to being a tiger? A tiger may tell you that they don t
have to deal with the religious fluff. By fluff I mean all the stuff a religion includes other than
simply having faith. An example being, going to church, or attending other church gatherings.
This is true, and it is something I quite enjoy while not being devoted to a church. Tigers often
have strong reasoning as to why they are a tiger. One common reason is they were once hurt. If
God exist, why would He allow for any hurt to happen? When they needed him most, where was

Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture
Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek
architectural. Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations
in architecture having both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be
appreciated today, they appear to have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at
first sight seem similar but in reality they each diverged and had their own identity and served
for different purposes. Ancient Greek and Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out
religious or spiritual happenings, and for the adoration of their gods who were believed to
protect and sustain their own community. Compared to the Romans, the purpose of building the
Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a sacred precinct as a home for their
gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an inner chamber called naos or
cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods, but they honored them as
well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in charge of ensuring the
needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a representation of their
philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their temples functioned
as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues, however they
had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important,

The Competitive Landscape Of The Quick Service Restaurant
The Competitive Landscape Companies in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry
compete mainly on efficient operations and effective marketing. Usually, large companies enjoy
advantages over small companies in terms of purchasing, finance, and marketing. But small
companies can still compete by improving their products and services. The US is the global
QSR market leader, taking 20% of global industry revenues (Hoovers). According to Porter, an
industry has to have sustainable profits for firms to foresee in order to make firms profitable and
successful (Porter, 3). However, according to our research the QSR industry is in danger of
reaching unsustainable profit margins if industry leaders fail to adapt their business practices to
this volatile market. The dining culture has changed over the years as people have become more
aware of healthy eating lifestyle. This trend is expected to continuously dictate future market
demand. Another factor to determine a company s success mentioned by Porter s is industry
positioning (Porter, 1985). The position in the industry is crucial for companies who have

some of them are emerging in the industry. They need to find the exquisite balance in terms of

At the same time, Sudono started a family and fathered both Anthony Salim and Andre Halim, two
sons that would eventually play a prominent role in the Salim Group. It is in the 1940 s that the
Salim Group was founded; however, sources do not specify the exact commercial nature that
Sudono pursued. After the Japanese occupation, Sudono actively supported the Indonesian
Independence movement who were fighting the Dutch army. Sudono was part of the Futsing Hwee
movement and helped hide revolutionary leader Hasan Din, the father in law of Sukarno, for over a
year. This would prove to be an important connection for Sudono as the Indonesian nationalists won
independence and enabled Sudono to resume trading commodities such as peanut oil, cloves, and
coffee. Through his connection with Hasan Din, Sudono was labeled as a trustworthy supplier of
the military . As a result, Sudono profited from helping the Indonesian army both during and after
their independence movement (Dieleman, 2007b). Following independence, Sukarno took over
Indonesia in 1957 and implemented a closed economic policy that rejected foreign capital and
focused on creating a greater role for government nationalism (Dieleman, 2006). Although Sukarno s
policies attempted to favor indigenous businessmen with his Benteng program, Sudono and

Tom Ripley Symbolism
Tom Ripley isn t entirely sure of who he is, taking on the identity of multiple characters to hide
behind a mask of insecurity. We meet him in the beginning of Patricia Highsmith s, The Talented
Mr. Ripley taking on someone else s job as well as pretending to be a well educated well mannered
Princeton graduate. Tom Ripleyhas gotten away with all his frauds, impersonations, and forgeries
until his past comes back to haunt him. His imagination runs wild as he imagines the horrible deeds
he has done manifesting into panic attacks and compulsions. Despite Tom Ripley being an

Toms desires to become Dickie are evident after this scene as Tom stared at Dickie s closed

hampering his breathing. He wanted to kill Dickie (Highsmith 95). Toms desire to be accepted

Grocery industry is a highly competitive market with thin profit margins. Super markets are
dominant players in the grocery industry. They use grocery offerings to drive traffic to their
higher profit margin retail items. With its operations efficiency, Walmart, the largest grocery
retailer has been able to offer significant price drops. This also forces other grocery stores to drop
prices which keeps the profit margin thin. Even with all the advantages of operational efficiency
and economies of scale, Walmart s share in grocery sales was down at 51% in 2011.
Industry Analysis:
Trader Joe s occupies a niche position in the grocery market by providing natural, organic and

Special Education In The 1890s
In order to have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs and how the education system
accommodates for children with SEN, it is important to know how it has developed over the past
hundred or so years.
In 1886, the Egerton Commission was set up to view the educational provision of children who
were deaf, blind or dumb. By 1888, the Egerton Commission had begun including the education of
those from ‘exceptional circumstances’ who would appear to need
‘exceptional methods of educationâ€events which unfolded around this time had a
large impact on how special needs was viewed and still affects special education needs provision
now. Around this time the idea of segregated education was formed and this is the basis for the

In 1889 it was suggested that children who were considered to be feeble minded children were to
continue to be educated within the mainstream system but within education classes and children
considered to be educable imbeciles were to be educated in special institutions. These
recommendations led to the opening of of special schools in the 1890s.
In 1898, the government expressed a lack of defining criteria for these groups and therefore the
difficulty in defining labels and correct education for children with special education needs. This
led to the Departmental Committee on Defective and Epileptic Children to create the subgroup
‘the ability to earn a living’.Children who were considered as able to earn a living
were children previously labeled as feeble minded whereas children who were imbeciles or idiots
were considered as unable to earn a living.
By 1913, the Board of Education’s Chief Medical Officer decided to group children into
five categories: the mentally normal child, the dull or backward child, the feeble minded child, the
imbecile child, the idiot. This shows that educators were beginning to have a greater understanding
of different abilities. the Board of Educators was also beginning to understand that the lack

America and the Holocaust
America and the Holocaust With the liberation of the concentration camps at the end of WWII, the
issue at hand was what to do with the Jewish peoples with no place to go. In the month of March
1933, one of the first camps, Dachau, was opened. Dachau was a concentration camp, or a prison
camp maintained by the Third Reich, [the name for Germany when the government was controlled
by Adolf Hitler]. Aside these concentration camps was two other types of camps; labor camps, and
death camps. A main concentration camp was Theresienstadt. Theresienstadt was located in what is
now known as the Czech Republic. More than 150,000 were kept there for months until being sent

The doctors who examined the incoming prisoners and sorted them also worked in these
hospitals performing medical research on the ill. This medical research was mostly placing the
Jewish prisoners in ice water baths then monitoring them until they died. This research was
mostly used to prevent hypothermia if German Pilots ever ended up being stranded in the ocean.
Some of the experiments performed by doctors often had no research purpose at all, such as
experiments involving eye color changing using chemical droppers and the surgical sewing of
children together to create siamese twins. Auschwitz was the largest death camp with 20,000 Jews
being killed a day and 39 subcamps. The Nazi leadership aimed to deceive the German population,
the victims, and the outside world regarding their genocidal policy toward Jews. Positive stories
were fabricated as part of the planned deception. One book printed and distributed in 1941 reported
that in Poland, German authorities had put Jews to work, built clean hospitals, set up soup kitchens
for Jews, and provided them with newspapers and vocational training. By 1944 most of the
international community knew about the camps and were aware that the Germans and their axis
partners brutally mistreated prisoners although exact details about the living conditions were
unclear. The existence of the Nazi camps was known by most of the European governments long
before the beginning of World War II.

A Study On Preparing Titanium Metal Matrix Composites With...
I. INTRODUCTION Many engineering applications in the field of aerospace engineering,
automobiles, electronic equipment etc. require very light material with good mechanical
properties. Titanium based metal matrix composites with carbon nanotube reinforcement can be
a solution for such applications. It can satisfy the requirement of light weight with very good
strength. This study focuses on preparing titanium metal matrix composites with CNT
reinforcements for various compositions for its mechanical properties. Ti alloys have been
widely used as structural materials in aeronautical industries due to their attractive
comprehensive properties, such as low density, high strength, ductility, toughness and resistance
to fatigue. Observations on the MA behaviour of CNT Ti powder mixtures in this study showed
that addition of CNTs alters the grinding behaviour of Ti powders, which typically agglomerates
in ball milling, and that the MA process itself is also affected by the type of CNTs incorporated.
While all types of the CNTs, namely SWCNTs, DWCNTs, and MWCNTs, functioned as grinding
aid preventing agglomeration of Ti particles, only the MWCNTs seem to have uniformly
embedded into the Ti particles whereas SWCNTs and DWCNTs were supposedly not dispersed
fully within the matrix. These variations in MA behavior, dependent on the types of CNTs, are
ascribed to the morphological characteristics of each CNT type such as overall shape, number of
carbon walls, and diameter, and specific

Carter played this strategy to a tee. Carter knew that his best line of defense would come from

Carter used and how his intelligence allowed him to take advantage of the situation. He knew
that those individuals faced a tough race and when they lost, they would become his support
because people like to be used and not ignored. Another quotes that is related to the it s better to

main point from this quote is that people don t mind being used, but they do mind being taken for

3.1 Analyse why life expectancy has increase over the last century. Life expectancy in the human
race has risen dramatically in the past century reaching its highest level for both male and female

men and three years for women and two years respectively. By 2002 women who were age of 65
could expect to live to the age of 84 while men could expect to live to the age of 81. The primary
reason for the vast increase in life expectancy in developed countries in the 20th century is

There are only a handful of these player that have a four year college education. The National

Summary Of To Read Like A Writer
In literary education, from childhood to maturity, individuals are taught how to write not to
improve themselves as critical thinkers, but to fulfill the requirements given to them in a
prompt. Whether to analyze or argue, this form of writing has led to a cease of literary
improvement in students today, making many question the effectiveness of writing classes.
Mike Bunns, in his article To Read like a Writer , explores this topic and stresses the necessity
for young readers to critically examine the author s choices in order to improve their own pieces
of work. Bunns effectively argues to his audience of college students that improved
comprehension comes from focusing on the rhetorical choices authors decide to make in their
compositions by tying personal narratives with repetitive questioning throughout his article. In
To Read like a Writer Mike Bunns introduces how writing is a series of choices with an account
of his past as an employee at a theatre. As he was trying to concentrate on his reading, he had an
epiphany that literary works are all a series of choices (Bunns 72). He then transitions to his main
claim of how reading like a writer allows for the reader to determine whether or not to adopt the
same style as the piece that the text may have. He breaks this down into subsections that readers
need to observe before they tackle the writing, such as context, genre, and publication. Additionally,
he points out the necessity to makes notes while reading the

both sides. Even though one may have a crime backround, he or she could have understandable
reasons for the act committed. In the book The DemonKing by Cinda Williams Chima, the
differences between the clan people and the wizards clash. Han Cuffs Alister had a history as a

Micah Bayar had been punished by his father because of using the amulet when he was not
properly trained or of the wizardry age. While Raisa, the princess, had been in the mountains
waiting for Micah with her mother, she saw the fire coming. This fire caused fear among the
Queen s Guard, and Captain Byrne, the royal captain of the soldiers. It also spread fear amongst
the rest of the royal individuals. Since that had set everybody off, people started questioning the
decisions of the Queen, specifically outsiders, and clan people. Another example, when Han had
escaped from the Southies, the day after, six Southies were found dead on the ground, and it didn

he had left the gang. To encourage demonstratation, Han had been walking in the night to

The Punk Rock Movement
1. INTRODUCTION
This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s
relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a
singer, musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978)
and of the Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s
experience in PiL, which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols
relatively short life.
Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between
art and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of
the cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock
movement and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon
represents an interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to
artists.
The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches
identified by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the
consumer based approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community
approach and the cultural approach. Using their model and a great variety of academic
frameworks has allowed to deliver a comprehensive analysis of John Lydon s brand. The discussion
section reveals the

high, just to fall back down. When it would reach the top of the climb, I would feel as if I was

many times I was frightened. I would corkscrew through uncertain times. Only it wasn t just on a

Not knowing what to do, who to talk to, or what to say. I didn t know the next step I should take.
Any one step in the wrong direction could make me fall right off the track. Many times, I would
try to take small steps, to avoid falling off the track. Although, sometimes a roller coaster would
come from behind and hit me. I didn t figure out who to trust early enough and I would be on my
own against the one who wanted my to fall. Then my mindwould go back to the flower. I can picture

tolerance policy. Management will discipline and fire anyone found guilty of sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is any or combination of the following: an objectionable, coercive or lewd
comment of a sexual nature to a person or persons, that is known or unwelcomed; actions or
communications with a sexual connotation that create an intimidating, demeaning, or offensive
work environment; an unwanted sexual request or advance, inappropriate touching, or sexual
assault; an implied or expressed reprisal or threat of reprisal, or denial of opportunity for refusing
to comply with a sexual request; any implied or expressed reward for complying with a sexually
oriented advance or request; displaying pornographic, offensive or derogatory pictures or text;
and a reprisal or threat of reprisal against an individual for any action they take following this

Charles Darwin Early Life
It is not the strongest of species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive
to change. Charles Darwin was was a renowned scientist who changed the way we understood
evolution forever. He is very interesting because of all the things he saw and did. Charles went on a
long adventure and theorized many things, which made him write numerous books about the
theories. Charles Darwinwas the second youngest of six children born on February 12, 1809, in
Shrewsbury, England. His mother, Susannah Darwin, died when he was at the age of eight. At the
age of nine, he entered Shrewsbury school and was not a very good student. Charles went to study
medicine at Edinburgh University in Scotland, but soon realized that he couldn t even watch an
operation being performed. He then Christ s College in Cambridge, England, to become a minister.

He had plenty of accomplishes throughout his life. He voyaged around the globe to survey it.
Charles Darwin solved the mystery of the formation of the coral reefs and atolls. His work laid the
foundation of evolutionary biology. He also did groundbreaking work in regards to evolution of
plants. Charles wrote twenty five books about evolution, the voyage, geology, zoology,
taxonomy, botany, palaeontology, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, literature and theology.
I was very impressed by Charles Darwin because of all the accomplishments he did and how he
changed science forever. He wrote twenty five books, which is pretty impressive because some
people can t even write one. He also accomplished being on a boat for almost five years trying to
find and discover things for science and did more than just that. I find it inspiring that he never
gave up trying to find the right path for the future. Charles darwin is such a renowned scientist, that

Poverty Deviant And Poverty
When discussing deviance and what most people classify as deviant, many won t admit that
they find people who are poor, and people who are ethically different as deviant. But when
observing people s actions, it is obvious that they do. We are all guilty of purposely avoiding
walking near a homeless person, or avoiding eye contact with them at a stop light. These action
and behaviors prove that we see these people as deviant. I agree with Goode, that povertycan take
individuals and make them deviant or make them more deviant than they already were. Shame
is what the poverty stricken individuals feel, (Goode 85), which makes these individuals more
likely to partake in illegal activities. They will partake in these activities as a sort of income, for
example the using and selling drugs, or they will partake in these activities because they know
they are already stigmatized, and there is no point in trying to prove otherwise. Which further
proves that being poor may be deviant on its own but it also causes deviance. If middle and
upper class Americans were more open and accepting to the poor, then I think they would be
less likely to commit deviant acts. Poverty is a self fulfilling prophecy because it is harder for
these individuals to better themselves when they are already labeled as deviant. Another
problem with American society is how hard it is for poor individuals to find success because the
rich are richer and the poor are poorer, (Goode 88). The top 1% in America hold most of the
money, leaving very little for those who are considered poor. This then becomes a never ending
cycle because middle and upper class kids attend very good schools and receive educations that
will allow them to find success in life, and those kids who are in working and lower classes, go
to over crowded schools with very little resources. This makes it very difficult for these kids to
take their educations further and go to college. I personally struggled with the transition from
high school to college due to the education I received. I went to a Denver Public School which
has a reputation of being trashy or ghetto . Luckily, as a whole Colorado has a good education
system, but I know I wasn t challenged enough in high

The Role of General Principles in E.U. Law as Opaque and Uncertain
Since the founding European Community Treaties of the 1950 s there has been a noticeable
evolution in regards to the lack of provisions concerning the protection of human rights in the
conduct of the Community affairs. Primarily this evolution was the work of The Court of Justice,
who stated that the general principles of EC law include protection for fundamental rights which
are part of the common constitutional traditions of Member States. [1] Article 249 of the EC treaty
lays out the sources from which the Community may govern, with greatest emphasis being placed
on regulations and directives. However, there are softer forms ... Show more content on

This is achieved twofold; firstly the Court looks at exactly how the general principles are drawn
from their original sources, and secondly the way the ECJ decides whether or not a fundamental
right has been breached. The method implemented by the ECJ in insuring this cohesion is relatively
simple, and is clearly outlined in the case of Nold[11], which states that:
In safeguarding these rights, the Court is bound to draw inspiration from constitutional traditions
common to the Member States, and it cannot therefore uphold measures which are incompatible
with fundamental rights recognised and protected by the Constitutions of those States.
Similarly, international treaties for the protection of human rights on which the Member States have
collaborated or of which they are signatories, can supply guidelines which should be followed
within the framework of Community law.
This decision was then later recognised on 5 April 1977 by the joint declaration of the European
Parliament, the Council and the Commission. The abovementioned international treaties for the
protection of human rights from which the ECJ attempts to legitimate its development of unwritten
general principles include the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the European

Great Marking Essay
How you mark your business sets the tone for all that you do a while later: How you publicize,
how you handle your clients... indeed, even the presence of your business and its items. That is
on the grounds that your image is the identity and character of your association and everything
mirrors that personality... your logo, you re publicizing, your storefront. Think Mac PCs: at
whatever time you stroll into an Apple store, the office, its workers, the window shows...
everything says we re cool, we re inventive, we re on the front line. Go to any Wafer Barrel eatery
and everything says we re friendly, we re nation, and we serve corn meal. This permits the client
to associate on an individual level. The purpose of marking is to offer clients an unmistakable
decision. In the event that you detest nation home cooking you avoid Wafer Barrel. On the off
chance that you adore browned catfish you know you re in the ideal spot. Great marking doesn t

Essay On Jury Nullification
Racially Based Jury Nullification
Jury Nullification
Criminal trials depend on the jury s decision on whether a defendant is guilty or not of the crimes
they are charged with. After examining the evidence and testimony during the trail, the jury will
decide if the defendant broke the law. A judgewill give specific instructions to follow, and the laws
that govern the proceedings of the case.
The jury may disagree with the law and instructions the judge have given them over the course of
the trial. Jury nullification occurs when all of the evidence shows the defendant committed a crime,
and the jury finds them not guilty based on some racial inequality. The jury chose to ignore the
evidence and the law and return a not guilty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She continues her argument by stating, disadvantaged black women are being targeted for
prosecution not for abusing an unborn child, but because they are targeted for being poor black
women. A policy that attempts to protect fetuses by denying the humanity of their mothers will
inevitably fail. A commitment to guaranteeing these fundamental rights of poor women of color,
rather than punishing them, is the real solution to the problem of unhealthy babies (Roberts, 1991,
p.1482).
Randall Kennedy s analysis
Kennedy argues that the analysis Roberts stated unconstitutional racial discrimination that are often
made by opponents of prosecutions have not been persuasively substantiated (Kennedy, 1997,
p.363). Kennedy further questions the hypothetical issue of the deprivation of black babies of
equal protection of the law is trapped by a reflexive animosity to law enforcement and an
inattentiveness to its essential function as a protector of the weak (Kennedy, 1997, p.363).
Roberts s response fails to satisfy the individuals that cocaine affects the most. Fetal endangerment
requires further study and Roberts fails to identify the amalgam of racial and class biases

Essay The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear
The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear is comprised of many distinct themes. His contrasts of light and
dark, good and evil, and his brilliant illustration of parallels between the foolishness of the play s
characters and society allowed him to craft a masterpiece. Just as well, Shakespeare s dynamic use
of linguistic techniques such as pun and irony aid this illustration of the perfect microcosm, not
only of 16th century Britain, but of all times and places. By far the theme that best allowed the
furthering of this superb contrast between Victorian England and Lear s own defined world is
Shakespeare s discussion of fools and their foolishness. This discussion allows Shakespeare to not

It also illustrates the bastard s mistaken belief that by fooling his father, he might be able to
eliminate his competition for Gloucester s title, Edgar, and possibly rid himself of his father in
the same token. This is a prime example of literal foolishness in King Lear, and Edmund is an
excellent example of a literal fool, both in his beliefs and his actions...both of which are foolishly
evil.
Another prime example of literal foolishness can be found in the foil characters of Regan and
Goneril, the daughters of the King. These two women, much like Edmund, find foolishness in
evil thoughts and evil deeds. As they plot to usurp Lear s power, their foolishness is illustrated
in their single minded decisions. Goneril states to Lear, Sir, I love you more than word can
wield the matter... in her insidious attempts to gain her father s land (I, i, 11). This is obviously
a lie, as the audience can very well see. And it clearly illustrates her foolishness. Not to be
outdone, however, Regan endeavors to use the same method in the theft of power from her father
s hands. She attests that Goneril has named her very deed of love but that...ironically once again,
she comes too short. (I, i, 11) perhaps in this respect, Shakespeare was attempting to draw a
parallel between Lear s daughter s, Edmund, and society. He appears to be attempting Another type
of fool in King Lear is the ignorant fool. Whereas characters such as Goneril, Regan,

right of return relative to the delivered item, if there is a general right of return relative to the

Pros And Cons Of Wal-Mart s Abuse Of Power
As the largest retailer in United State s history, Wal Mart attracts both praise and criticism.
According to the company website, Wal Mart sells more than $400 billion worth of goods a
year and employees more than 2.2 million people. Wal Mart is famous for its low prices, which
have attracted criticism for being predatory and therefore pushing out competing businesses.
Because Wal Mart is extremely large, it has become a price setter for both sellers and competition.
Furthermore, to maintain Wal Mart s prices, workers are paid low wages and, as some would
argue, are exploited. Yet not everything about Wal Mart is negative. Wal Mart also offers the less
affluent a place to shop within their means, thereby providing them with necessities.... Show more

However, this is unlikely to happen. Wal Mart gains $474.88 billion in yearly sales, and 2.2
million employees, netting out to $213,255 sales per employee. With a 5.93% operating margin,
it nets out to be $12,646.02 profit margin per employee. Increasing wages by only $3 an hour
would consume almost half the profit. While, increasing wages would lower turnover costs, it
seems unlikely that Wal Mart will disrupt its methods for higher worker salaries. Unless Wal
Mart is willing to take a dip in its profit, then progress will realistically not be made in this area.
To protect workers, the government will have to step in, and with Wal Mart providing so much
money to lobbyists and both political parties; this is also unlikely to happen. For progress to occur,
the government would need to separate itself from corporations and refuse contributions and
lobbyists. This will not happen, as the government not only benefits from corporations
contributions but also the taxes. If Wal Mart was more harshly monitored and regulated, then it
would likely not have the same income, and their taxes would be less. This would also hurt
America as a whole. Wal Mart and its relationship to the government makes progress and change
difficult, as the situation is complex and interconnected. For Wal Mart to improve its negative
aspects, there would have to be an overhaul in the

An Eye Movement Tracking System
In this paper, we proposed an eye movement tracking system. Based on Electro Oculography
(E.O.G) technology we detected the signal with different directions in eye movements and then
analyzed to understand what they represented about (e.g. horizontal direction or vertical direction).
This enables people to control applications using bio electric signals recorded from the body. In an
Electrooculogram (EOG) based, signals during various eye(cornea) movements are employed to
generate control signals. Electrooculography is a technique for measuring the resting potential of
the retina. The resulting signal is called the electrooculogram. Moreover, it is simpler to complete
the feature extraction and analysis of EOG signals. So, it will achieve more success to design of
wheelchair guidance by EOG.

Wheelchairs are important mobile aids for elders and disabled patients. Electrooculography is a
technique for measuring the resting potential of the retina. The resulting signal is called the

different places around eye; (right, left, up, and down) have led to different level of distance and
rotation of wheelchair. Those four signals are correspond to different levels of right and left steer,

The Marathon Is A Character Driven Journey Of Self Discovery
THE MARATHON is a character driven journey of self discovery. The goal is clear and the
stakes are personal. The script offers complex characters with strong inner struggles and conflicts.
The protagonist, Leaf, is easy too root for and care about. The tone is dramatic. The script is driven
by solid themes about survival, healing, forgiveness, and second chances.
There s a lot to really like about this script and while it merits consideration, the script would still
benefit from further development.
First, the opening sets the tone and anticipation as it transitions back in time. The structure utilizes
several flashbacks and most of them work to help move the story forward vs. stopping the story.

There are far too many characters to track (mainly the teens). Because there are so many, none of
them are fully developed. Consider narrowing the cast.
Continue to develop the core teens. There are several subplots introduced, but none of them are
fully formed.
For example, a romance, triangle subplot is introduced between Leaf, Miranda, and Andrew, yet it
never feels entirely developed or resolved. Thus, explore more of the character of Miranda and her
budding relationship with Leaf. There s a lot more room for tension in this subplot. Create a
stronger relationship arc between Miranda and Leaf. This would be something that pulls them apart.
Elevate Andrew s jealousy to add more solid conflict. Push this story to the edge, even perhaps
add the all is lost moment when they send Leaf back to Juvenile Hall (for fighting with Andrew),
and then show how he s able to find his way back into the program.
The Jason subplot currently doesn t have a strong emotionally impact on the audience. The idea is
smart to show that it s challenging to survive outside the program and that some will fail, but the
audience needs to know Jason better and they need to emotionally identify with him and root for
him. As structured now, the audience doesn t feel as if they truly get to know Jason and his
struggles. Create a stronger bond between Leaf and Jason. Focus more on the relationship between
the teens, as well as Leaf s relationship

Dealing with Homelessness in Australia Essay examples
Homelessness is all our responsibility. Waking every morning in a warm bed in a secure house
for some Australians is only a dream. Every day more and more people are becoming or are at
risk of becoming homeless as the global economy crumbles away and monetary resources become
harder to find. What is homelessness: the Australian GovernmentDepartment of Health (2005)
defines homelessness as a person who is without a conventional home. Homeless Australians have
become disconnected from family and friend and has few, if any resource and very little prospect of
achieving financial independence without Government assistant. This assessment will talk about

the 1960 s bought about the biggest change with both homelessness and social awareness. Women
of the 1960 s and 70 s now were demanding equality education, freedom of abuse and the right to

children escaping domestic violence and the family home due to the empowerment of feminism

Alison Bechdel Fun Home Analysis
Alison Bechdel uses her graphic memoir, Fun home, to explore her relationship with her father.
She uses the book as a tool to reflect on her life and the affect her father had on her. She
discovers how her fathers closeted sexuality affected her childhood and her transition into
adulthood. His death left a powerful mark and left her searching for answers. She clearly states
this when she says, it s true that he didn t kill himself until I was nearly twenty. But his absence
resonated retroactively, echoing back through all the time I knew him. (23). This feeling drove her
to look back on their relationship and find what binds her so strongly to a man she never
understood. She discovered how her fathers closetedsexualityaffected her childhood, her sexuality,
and her relationship with literature.
Bechdel opens the book with a scene of her playing with her father. She uses this memory of them
playing airplane (3) to describe the normal part of their relationship. This is contrasted by the
frequent outbursts she describes throughout her childhood. In chapter 1 she uses the film It s a
Wonderful Life as an analogy. She draws a parallel between George s rare outburst on his children to
the frequent outburst her father displayed as she grew up (11). This scene gives clear insight on
how the relationship with her father fluctuates between calm and strenuous. the inconsistences in
their relationship leads her question what connects her to her father. This dilemma is best

The Is The Party Of God
Abstract
When translated, Hezbollah means The Party of God. However, as we examine the history,
demographics, agenda, methodology and target choices and affiliation assignments and
contributions of Hezbollah, we discover that this organization was established with perhaps one
goal in mind and that is to strike fear into the hearts of those that oppose an Islamic state in Lebanon
. Therefore, as the self proclaimed Party of God, based on the history of their activities and actions,
they appear to be something entirely different.
History
Since the establishment of Hezbollah in 1982 as part of the Iranian government s Revolutionary
Guard, according to Spindlove et al (2010, pp. 249 252), the goal of this organization has since
been the creation of an independent Islamic state exclusive of the nation of Lebanon. Moreover,
according to a compilation of information by Berman (2015), it is widely believed that the
Hezbollah ideology spawned during the Iranian Revolution. During this revolution, the rhetoric
called upon Muslims to over through governments that oppressed them and their beliefs. Within
Lebanon, according to perceptions of the Hezbollah leaders, the United States (U.S.) was ultimately
to blame for the oppression of Lebanese Muslims and their beliefs while, simultaneously, viewing
Israel as an extension of the U.S. and its policies within the region. Led by religious clerics, in
addition to their desire for independence, the Hezbollah organization adopted an

  • 3. The High Antioxidant Qualities Of The Muscadine Grapes My... In a quest to explore Christianity, Marshall Petersen began visiting the Sunday school with the encouragement of his wife. I am his Sunday school teacher and upon further communication, I informed him of the high antioxidant qualities of the Muscadine grapes my family s produce company sells, and I asked him if he might be interested in promoting either the grapes themselves or the various products developed using their seeds. He was interested. The grapes became a hot commodity and over six months, he paid for orders and delivery has been prompt, and no issues about payments even though they can be 15 to 30 days late. During one of the deliveries, Marshall made my son signed a contract that includes a guaranteed price schedule consistent with what he had been paying. Marshall told him that it was just a formality to guarantee a continuing business relationship. The signing of that contract established a formal business agreement between the two companies. Our business transactions were running perfectly, we were trying to meet the demand for our product, and until recently when a company in Texas offered to pay me twice the going rate for my products. I informed Marshall as I don t want to leave him out to dry. He was very angry and he told me that he expects me to continue to supply him with all the product he needs, when he needs it, and at the prices he had always paid, per the requirements contract between our businesses and in accordance with an implied duty of ... • 4. Essay on Violent Video Games Raise Aggression Throughout history man kind has always searched for ways to entertain himself, each time developing new activities and games. Video games have become a very popular way to spend time and have fun from the 1970 s up to now. With new developments appeared different video game genres from adventure to racing, but the violent video games appear to be the most popular ones (Shin, 2003), for example: shooters, fighting and video games where you have to eliminate, destroy, or kill your enemies. Video games have become very influential on children and adults (Stafford, 1999). With violent video games humans are more prone to act aggressively, to have aggressive thoughts and become numb towards violence (Harding, 2009). Apart from these they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now a day however VDU s have evolved and we created LCD s with higher quality and standard giving the opportunity for violent video games to be more graphic and real (Stafford, 1999) like for example when characters get shot a large spray of blood covers the walls and floor near the character (Shin, 2003). The processor of the consoles has also been a key factor to the development of more real looking violent video games. From Intel s 4004 microprocessor up to Intel s core 2 duo E8500 processor we have seen how computers are able to do more tasks in less time. This development has given a way for violent video games to be more free in the sense that more actions can be made, the virtual worlds are bigger and there are more objectives to be done or enemies to be eliminated. C.The impact of the issue Violence in video games has been proved to raise the aggression on video gamers in the short and long term, whether it s in their language, attitude or actions. Also video games not only cause this but they also decrease prosocial behavior and empathy (Anderson, 2010). Violent video games have been one of the main reasons why students decide to shoot everyone in an educational institution like the well known Columbine Massacre in 1999. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animals Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was a dogwho despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the signs of basic signs of defense or threats.I didn t walk her because she was on the category of red . Red meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to walk said red dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who s name was Cody, he was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to the fact he was roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet determined that the leg had to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more and was just getting in his way of a better quality of life. The day after Cody s surgery Cody walked up the two flights of steps to get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured leg amputated he was acting like the puppy he should be acting. Point of View in Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper In her short story The Yellow Wallpaper , Charlotte Perkins Gilman uses an interesting means in which to allow the reader into the mind of the narrator: a woman who conforms under the pressures of not only society but also her husband. The narrator experiences a mental break after struggling with the urge to rebel against expectations placed on her to be an ordinary, healthy woman and not what she really is: a woman suffering postpartum depression at a time when postpartum was not considered a legitimate condition. Gilman manipulates her usage of the point of view having the story told through a journal, having the perspective as first person, and having the breakdown of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When reading a story, readers can often find themselves relating to the characters and feeling what they are experiencing. Gilman achieved this connection between reader and narrator through her use of personal pronouns. The personal pronouns used throughout the story, such as I , me and we , when opposed to having emotions explained through the distance of a third person point of view, help the reader understand the struggle the narrator goes through. For instance, in the sentence, I don t want to go out, and I don t want to have anybody come in, till John comes. I want to astonish him (Gilman 655), this is the narrator s ultimate form of rebellion; she is locking her husband out of the room that he has kept her confined to. Gilman puts the narrator s own thoughts into the readers minds through her use of I , instead of having them watch the narrator enter this state of rebellion through third person she , so the reader could feel the narrators the desire to rebel. If in the case where the usage of personal pronouns does not put the reader in the mental state of the narrator, the second advantage of using first person perspective is that it makes it seem as if the narrator revealing her personal thoughts to us, which elicits sympathy from the reader. This revealing of personal thought is seen specifically when the narrator writes, And I ll tell you why privately В I ve seen her! (Gilman 655). The narrator is referring the shapes she is seeing moving around in the wallpaper in her room. She has begun to, at this point, see a woman stooping down and creeping behind the pattern (Gilman 652) but has not mentioned this to her husband out of fear of causing him grief with her silly fancies (Gilman 652). College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes also should not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College athletes deserve to get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so the NCAA and their sponsors can make money. Lit Review: Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how it is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate revenue for the NCAA just on certain players presence. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them (Roth 322). This line in the book Insurgent by Veronica Roth, grasped the main idea in one piece of the book. Each and every part of this book is in some way related to trust. Tris and Tobias, the main characters, are star crossed lovers who fight against the government for the better. Throughout the book, Tris and Tobias try to find out the secrets of the government. Some of their friends and family are traitors; they did not know whom to trust. This line shows that there is two very strong sides to Blake s thinking. Why would God create such a terrifying creature, as the tiger, when it only causes harm? In The Lamb, Blake describes Godas meek and mild. However, if God is meek and mild, how could He possible create such a beast? As many read these two poems, they step back and wonder, which side do they follow? Should we believe God to be all good, or is there a darker side to this story? • 18. Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek architectural. Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations in architecture having both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be appreciated today, they appear to have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at first sight seem similar but in reality they each diverged and had their own identity and served for different purposes. Ancient Greek and Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out religious or spiritual happenings, and for the adoration of their gods who were believed to protect and sustain their own community. Compared to the Romans, the purpose of building the Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a sacred precinct as a home for their gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an inner chamber called naos or cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods, but they honored them as well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in charge of ensuring the needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a representation of their philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their temples functioned as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues, however they had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. A Study On Preparing Titanium Metal Matrix Composites With... I. INTRODUCTION Many engineering applications in the field of aerospace engineering, automobiles, electronic equipment etc. require very light material with good mechanical properties. Titanium based metal matrix composites with carbon nanotube reinforcement can be a solution for such applications. It can satisfy the requirement of light weight with very good strength. This study focuses on preparing titanium metal matrix composites with CNT reinforcements for various compositions for its mechanical properties. Ti alloys have been widely used as structural materials in aeronautical industries due to their attractive comprehensive properties, such as low density, high strength, ductility, toughness and resistance to fatigue. Observations on the MA behaviour of CNT Ti powder mixtures in this study showed that addition of CNTs alters the grinding behaviour of Ti powders, which typically agglomerates in ball milling, and that the MA process itself is also affected by the type of CNTs incorporated. While all types of the CNTs, namely SWCNTs, DWCNTs, and MWCNTs, functioned as grinding aid preventing agglomeration of Ti particles, only the MWCNTs seem to have uniformly embedded into the Ti particles whereas SWCNTs and DWCNTs were supposedly not dispersed fully within the matrix. These variations in MA behavior, dependent on the types of CNTs, are ascribed to the morphological characteristics of each CNT type such as overall shape, number of carbon walls, and diameter, and specific ... Summary Of To Read Like A Writer In literary education, from childhood to maturity, individuals are taught how to write not to improve themselves as critical thinkers, but to fulfill the requirements given to them in a prompt. Whether to analyze or argue, this form of writing has led to a cease of literary improvement in students today, making many question the effectiveness of writing classes. Mike Bunns, in his article To Read like a Writer , explores this topic and stresses the necessity for young readers to critically examine the author s choices in order to improve their own pieces of work. Bunns effectively argues to his audience of college students that improved comprehension comes from focusing on the rhetorical choices authors decide to make in their compositions by tying personal narratives with repetitive questioning throughout his article. In To Read like a Writer Mike Bunns introduces how writing is a series of choices with an account of his past as an employee at a theatre. As he was trying to concentrate on his reading, he had an epiphany that literary works are all a series of choices (Bunns 72). He then transitions to his main claim of how reading like a writer allows for the reader to determine whether or not to adopt the same style as the piece that the text may have. He breaks this down into subsections that readers need to observe before they tackle the writing, such as context, genre, and publication. Additionally, he points out the necessity to makes notes while reading the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Differences Between Good And Evil In The Demon King As Eric Burdon stated, inside each of us, there is a seed of both good and evil. Eric was trying to explain how individuals constantly debate which side will win, and how individuals struggle with both sides. Even though one may have a crime backround, he or she could have understandable reasons for the act committed. In the book The DemonKing by Cinda Williams Chima, the differences between the clan people and the wizards clash. Han Cuffs Alister had a history as a thief, and was part of a gangcalled the Raggers. The Cuffs in his name is meant for the permenantly attached silver bracelets he wears on his wrists. Han lives among the clan, and is an indigent individual. Micah Bayar had been punished by his father because of using the amulet when he was not properly trained or of the wizardry age. While Raisa, the princess, had been in the mountains waiting for Micah with her mother, she saw the fire coming. This fire caused fear among the Queen s Guard, and Captain Byrne, the royal captain of the soldiers. It also spread fear amongst the rest of the royal individuals. Since that had set everybody off, people started questioning the decisions of the Queen, specifically outsiders, and clan people. Another example, when Han had escaped from the Southies, the day after, six Southies were found dead on the ground, and it didn t look like the work of a knife. People threw accusations at the Raggers, Han included, even though he had left the gang. To encourage demonstratation, Han had been walking in the night to Southbridge Temple. Coated figures approached him. Rumors of these creatures had said they were monsters, demons. They pressed Han into revealing Shiv s hideout, and that he would be rewarded. Han was unharmed by these demons, as his cuffs protected him, with their magical wonders, but the monsters had recognized him because of the cuffs. Now demons were after Shiv, and Shiv was trying to have Han protect him, but Han didn t want to go deeper into the sea of trouble and destruction. • 34. The Punk Rock Movement 1. INTRODUCTION This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a singer, musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978) and of the Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s experience in PiL, which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols relatively short life. Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between art and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of the cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock movement and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon represents an interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to artists. The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches identified by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the consumer based approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community approach and the cultural approach. Using their model and a great variety of academic frameworks has allowed to deliver a comprehensive analysis of John Lydon s brand. The discussion section reveals the ... The one flower, just one of millions, changed everything. It wasn t just a flower. No, it was far more. Everything changed. The people, the places, the activities. Everything in my life changed. My life was taken on a rollercoaster. It was flipped. It was turned upside turn. It climbed high, just to fall back down. When it would reach the top of the climb, I would feel as if I was free falling and never going to stop. My stomach would leap from my chest, just as it did the many times I was frightened. I would corkscrew through uncertain times. Only it wasn t just on a ride. I couldn t tell myself it was just for fun or that it was going to be over soon, because I didn t know that. My stomach would lurch and I would sometimes just stay still, completely petrified. Not knowing what to do, who to talk to, or what to say. I didn t know the next step I should take. Any one step in the wrong direction could make me fall right off the track. Many times, I would try to take small steps, to avoid falling off the track. Although, sometimes a roller coaster would come from behind and hit me. I didn t figure out who to trust early enough and I would be on my own against the one who wanted my to fall. • 43. Poverty Deviant And Poverty When discussing deviance and what most people classify as deviant, many won t admit that they find people who are poor, and people who are ethically different as deviant. But when observing people s actions, it is obvious that they do. We are all guilty of purposely avoiding walking near a homeless person, or avoiding eye contact with them at a stop light. These action and behaviors prove that we see these people as deviant. I agree with Goode, that povertycan take individuals and make them deviant or make them more deviant than they already were. Shame is what the poverty stricken individuals feel, (Goode 85), which makes these individuals more likely to partake in illegal activities. They will partake in these activities as a sort of income, for example the using and selling drugs, or they will partake in these activities because they know they are already stigmatized, and there is no point in trying to prove otherwise. Which further proves that being poor may be deviant on its own but it also causes deviance. If middle and upper class Americans were more open and accepting to the poor, then I think they would be less likely to commit deviant acts. Poverty is a self fulfilling prophecy because it is harder for these individuals to better themselves when they are already labeled as deviant. Another problem with American society is how hard it is for poor individuals to find success because the rich are richer and the poor are poorer, (Goode 88). The top 1% in America hold most of the money, leaving very little for those who are considered poor. This then becomes a never ending cycle because middle and upper class kids attend very good schools and receive educations that will allow them to find success in life, and those kids who are in working and lower classes, go to over crowded schools with very little resources. This makes it very difficult for these kids to take their educations further and go to college. I personally struggled with the transition from high school to college due to the education I received. I went to a Denver Public School which has a reputation of being trashy or ghetto . Luckily, as a whole Colorado has a good education system, but I know I wasn t challenged enough in high ... Law as Opaque and Uncertain Since the founding European Community Treaties of the 1950 s there has been a noticeable evolution in regards to the lack of provisions concerning the protection of human rights in the conduct of the Community affairs. Primarily this evolution was the work of The Court of Justice, who stated that the general principles of EC law include protection for fundamental rights which are part of the common constitutional traditions of Member States. This is achieved twofold; firstly the Court looks at exactly how the general principles are drawn from their original sources, and secondly the way the ECJ decides whether or not a fundamental right has been breached. Similarly, international treaties for the protection of human rights on which the Member States have collaborated or of which they are signatories, can supply guidelines which should be followed within the framework of Community law. This decision was then later recognised on 5 April 1977 by the joint declaration of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission. This enables people to control applications using bio electric signals recorded from the body. She uses the book as a tool to reflect on her life and the affect her father had on her. She discovers how her fathers closeted sexuality affected her childhood and her transition into adulthood. His death left a powerful mark and left her searching for answers. She clearly states this when she says, it s true that he didn t kill himself until I was nearly twenty. But his absence resonated retroactively, echoing back through all the time I knew him. (23). This feeling drove her to look back on their relationship and find what binds her so strongly to a man she never understood. She discovered how her fathers closetedsexualityaffected her childhood, her sexuality, and her relationship with literature. Bechdel opens the book with a scene of her playing with her father. She uses this memory of them playing airplane (3) to describe the normal part of their relationship. This is contrasted by the frequent outbursts she describes throughout her childhood. In chapter 1 she uses the film It s a Wonderful Life as an analogy. She draws a parallel between George s rare outburst on his children to the frequent outburst her father displayed as she grew up (11). This scene gives clear insight on how the relationship with her father fluctuates between calm and strenuous. the inconsistences in their relationship leads her question what connects her to her father. This dilemma is best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, as we examine the history, demographics, agenda, methodology and target choices and affiliation assignments and contributions of Hezbollah, we discover that this organization was established with perhaps one goal in mind and that is to strike fear into the hearts of those that oppose an Islamic state in Lebanon . Therefore, as the self proclaimed Party of God, based on the history of their activities and actions, they appear to be something entirely different. History Since the establishment of Hezbollah in 1982 as part of the Iranian government s Revolutionary Guard, according to Spindlove et al (2010, pp. 249 252), the goal of this organization has since been the creation of an independent Islamic state exclusive of the nation of Lebanon. Moreover, according to a compilation of information by Berman (2015), it is widely believed that the Hezbollah ideology spawned during the Iranian Revolution. During this revolution, the rhetoric called upon Muslims to over through governments that oppressed them and their beliefs. Within Lebanon, according to perceptions of the Hezbollah leaders, the United States (U.S.) was ultimately to blame for the oppression of Lebanese Muslims and their beliefs while, simultaneously, viewing Israel as an extension of the U.S. and its policies within the region. Led by religious clerics, in addition to their desire for independence, the Hezbollah organization adopted an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
