Essay On Community Nursing
Community Health Nursing Reflection

Community Health Nursing Reflection
According to Phyllis Meadows (2009), Community health nurses are valued for their adaptability and
willingness to provide care in many settings, including community health clinics, churches, homeless
shelters, and schools, (p. 19). Community health nurses aim to improve health outcomes and improve
the infrastructure used to monitor and manage disease within the community. Healthy People 2020 has
established benchmarks and monitored progress over time to improve health outcomes. Each
community has unique needs and the role of the community health nurse is to work with and provide
comprehensive care to patients within the community. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These factors can create barriers for a community nurse in providing care for individuals and
addressing the needs of the community. Because of diverse populations it is important that community
nurses develop cultural competence and are educated and prepared to address these differences within
the community.
Nursing diagnosis and interventions appropriate to use within this community include: Nutritional
deficiency related to lack of access to grocery stores. Interventions may include nutritional
assessment, identification and referrals to help resources (e.g., WIC or assistance office), and
education regarding appropriate foods needed to meet nutritional needs. A diagnosis of risk for fluid
volume deficit related to farming during high temperatures includes interventions such as educating
and emphasizing the need for adequate fluid intake during times of increased activities and high
temperatures and how to recognize signs of dehydration. Nursing interventions for a diagnosis of risk
for injury related to work environment/occupation or environmental wastes may include educating on
proper body mechanics and ensuring equipment in use is working properly and individuals are trained
how to use such equipment. Another diagnosis of risk of poisoning related to chemicals associated
with place of employment, high possibility of drinking water contamination, and presence of lead
paint. Nursing interventions for this diagnosis can include labeling chemicals

The Negative Effects of Oil Spills Have on Nigeria, A letter
Dear President
My name is John Doe. I am writing this letter to inform you about the negative effects in Nigeria oil
spills have on its people and the environment around them. Oil spills pollute the water, killing animals
and plant life that inhabit the area around the spill. It is important that this problem is to be looked at
and solved. Nigeria s Niger Delta is one of the most oil polluted places on the planet with more than
6,800 recorded oil spills. Millions of barrels of oil were spilled into the Niger Delta.. Some people
inhabit the land around it. The water is there main resource to use. They use it for irrigation, drinking,
and bathing. They use the water for their everyday needs. The water is too polluted for them to drink
anymore and they can t use the water for irrigation because it is killing all of their crops. Multiple
people have suffered from illnesses from drinking the oil polluted water. Cleanups don t clean the land
very well even though they are supposed to clean deep into the ground. A percent of Nigerian
mangrove ecosystems have been destroyed out by oil. The known effects of oil on mangroves are
making the soil into acid, stop cellular respiration, and they do not let the roots get oxygen. The loss of
mangrove forests does not only decrease the life of plants and animals. They also affect humans. The
indigenous people living in the affected areas highly value these systems. The local people by the
mangrove forest use the wood as a major

How Did Castro Cause The Cuban Revolution
DRAFT Fidel Castro A Rebel With A Cause
The Cuban Revolution was a massive revolt led by Fidel Castro and powered by people with the
common goal to bring back the peace. The Cuban government was led by the dictator Fulgencio
Batista who took away basic freedoms that damaged society. Fidel Castro wanted to bring back the
peace with a radical mission to overtake a nearby army garrison. With a chaotic attack on Moncada
Barracks, Fidel Castro failed at his coup d etat but did not meet an unsuccessful end. Fidel Castro s
gruesome attempt at claiming control of the Moncada Barracks ultimately backfired on him and
created the spark for the Cuban Revolution.
For years the Cuban government had claimed ultimate control over society which outraged ... Show

Later he surrendered after being promised a fair trial where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. At
his trial he said You may condemn me. History will absolve me (PBS) and left these words ringing in
the ears of history. What is so remarkable about his trial is that he acted as his own attorney and his
speeches were so powerful that he influenced the Cuban Bill of Rights. While being denied access to
physical papers and documents, he used ideas from European and American revolutions as the basis of
his defense. Castro even recalled ideas from Rousseau, Thomas Paine s Rights of Man and the
American Declaration of Independence. Most importantly, he argued how he was fighting for the
people of Cuba, how Batista had created a reign of terror, and that the people should uprise in order to
achieve peace. Fidel Castro was sent to prison for 15 years until Batista would release him on the
terms of general amnesty 2 years later. After his release the people of Cuba would look to him for
leadership against the Cuban dictator Fulgencio

Make sure that the circuit breaker is filled with gas and that the first operation is already carried out.
Quite often the local operation of a circuit breaker is interlocked with the disconnector position on the
both sides of the breaker i.e. the related disconnectors have to in open position to enable the local
operation of the breaker. The thermostat for the dehydrate heater should be set approximately to 10
ï‚°C, if not otherwise stated in the manufacturer s manual. Close the spring charging motor supply

Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement
Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal
relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to have
devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different degrees of
motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained what is the
effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math scores (Brown
Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed methods quasi
experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and sixth through eighth
grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools were selected to participate
in the study. The student populations in each school were described as lower middle working class and
predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school,
two classes were randomly selected out of each grade level and randomly assigned to experimental
groups. The participant groups were administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic
Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14. The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its
correlation with school curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). One group received standard testing
instructions while the other group received an additional set of motivational instructions read from a
script.

Automobiles and the American Society
The Automobile and American Society
Before the invention of the automobile, travel was a very difficult thing. Horses and carriages were
needed to transport a person from one place to another. Consequently, many people lived their entire
lives without travelling much further than the outskirts of the village or town in which they were born.
Since there was little travel, locations which had attracted enough people grew into large metropolitan
cities where anything that a person needed could be obtained within a short distance from their front
doors. The large cities attracted even more people because these then became the locations where the
most profitable jobs could be found. Once employment was found, the person would move into the
city and raise their family who would then contribute to the growth of the city. This is how things were
until the automobile was invented. Few people who first encountered the machine could know that it
would forever change the geographic and sociological makeup of the United States of America, but
that is what it did. Trains had already been invented and people could travel from one side of the
country to the other, but they could only go to the destinations which had railroad lines. The
automobile gave the individual the ability to choose their own destination both physically and
metaphorically. By the end of the 1920s more than 26 million cars were produced, one for
approximately every five people of the United States (Faragher 2009,

The Red Black by Stendhal
Introduction I was taken aback as I read the lead story of The Red Black, the University of Georgia s
student run newspaper. It was a story about hate speech that had been posted on the Facebook pages of
two University groups. Why can t you dumb dirty n****s stop stinking up the place? Let UGA be
RIGHT for good WHITE Christian students. This had been posted onto The Black Affairs Council
Facebook page. Burn in hell f****s was posted on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
Resource Center s Facebook page. It brought back memories of my very first year at UGA as a student
back in 1997. I d been exposed to this hatred before even though it was much more subtle. It was my
first semester and second class of the day. Before class started, we were having polite conversation
about SAT scores and GPAs. I said mine and a guy behind me said, There s no way that black girl
scored higher than any of us on the SAT. She s only here because of affirmative action, taking the
place of people who actually deserve to be here. I knew then that my presence was tolerated but not
accepted. I was shell shocked then and now. Even coming from south Georgia, I d still never directly
experienced any intolerance or hatred. Yet here it was and is still at my higher education institution of
choice. Background The University of Georgia was incorporated on January 27, 1785. The university
was actually established in 1801 when a site was selected and graduated its first class in 1804. The

Man For All Seasons Corruption
The play in A Man for All Seasons, written by Robert Holt in the 1960s, retells the story of King
Henry the VIII, his separation from the Church, and how his chancellor Thomas More resisted all
attempts from the King to make him approve of the action. This story confirms that management of
political power corrupts the minds and hearts of groups and individuals, such as Cromwell and King
Henry VIII, but for some, such as Thomas More, it teaches them the importance of integrity and
remaining faithful to one s own truths. While political power itself is not evil, it is still an effective
tool to achieve ambitions and aspirations good or bad. This quality of power tends to easily break
down and dissolve the moral strengths and good will of any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(Chagrined) So you give it away, of course. (pg. 8)
Because of his constant cultivation of character and regular remembrance of principles, More was
strong enough to withstand the corruption of power. Even with his life threatened, he never allowed
himself to waver. More still clearly saw the principles of truth and integrity and realized the value of
it. He silently but resolutely resisted the King s attempts to break him, until his death
Power itself is not evil, and never has been. It s only a tool. But there are temptations of power;
temptations of absolute control, fame, and gain. People stumble underneath the pressure of these
enticements, because their character and moral strength are not established enough. People like this,
like Master Rich, are so eager to achieve that fame or absolute control, that they willingly relinquish
their better judgement and good character. Often this happens through other men of corruption and
carnal desires. But, even among hosts of weak and stumbling men, Thomas More remains steadfast to
his beliefs and principles, valuing integrity and wisdom far higher than fame and popularity. While the
responsibility of power easily corrupts many people, including kings and scholars, for others, and for
Thomas More, it awakens them to the dangers of lust for power and tutors them on the importance of

The several research on articles have been done to study the effects of ingestion of caffeinated energy
drink before, during or after exercise to determine its outcome on the performance of the athletes. All
the articles showed a positive association between caffeinated energy drink and strength. The
ingestion of caffeine 3 6mg per body weight proved to enhance the strength of players and improved
their performance. The athletes should not intake more than 6mg per body weight as it can lead to
various side effects and adversely affect the body and also consumption of caffeine less than 3mg per
kilogram showed no effect on the body. Although, the caffeinated energy drink proved to enhance the
strength but the mechanism of the strength improvement

Cases Concerning Fundamental Breach And Non Delivery
3. Cases concerning fundamental breach
3.1. Non delivery
The failure of the seller in delivering the goods is almost always considered to be a fundamental
breach. This could be exemplified by a decision of Hamburg arbitration award, whereby a seller from
Czech and buyer from Germany disputed over an advance payment for the goods and delivery. The
seller suspended delivery of the goods claiming advance payment, whereas, the buyer requested for
avoidance of the contract due to non delivery. The tribunal held that, advance payment should not be a
ground to suspend delivery, therefore, confirmed the request of the buyer to avoid the contract. Similar
view has been held by an arbitration tribunal in China whereby, failure of the seller to ... Show more

In addition, the type of goods to be delivered should also be taken into account when determining late
delivery as a fundamental breach. For instance, in the case between Italdecor s.a.s v. Yiu s Industries
(H.K.) Limited, the buyer claimed for avoidance of the contract and refund of the purchase price for
the knitwear ordered due to the late delivery. The appellate court of Millan held that, although fixed
after the contract was concluded, time was important as the goods were to be sold at the end of the
year s sales. Therefore, the seller has committed fundamental breach and confirmed the buyer request
of avoidance, restitution of the already effected payment along with interest.
On another case involving summer cloths it was held that, a late the delivery by one day would not
constitute a fundamental breach.
Although, there seems to be a general agreement as to mere late delivery not amounting to
fundamental breach; it still would be challenging to reach at a conclusion as to what accounts as mere
and substantial late delivery in terms of days.
3.3. Non conforming goods
Article 35 of the CISG deals with conformity of goods. It specifically obliges the seller to deliver the
goods as stated in the

The theory has explained human population evolution relatively well in Europe and other highly
developed countries. Many developing countries have moved into stage 3. The major exceptions are
poor countries, mainly in sub Saharan Africa (Nigeria, Benin, Mali, Niger amongst others) and some
Middle Eastern[ 9] countries, which are poor or affected by government policy or civil strife, notably
Pakistan[ 10], Palestinian Territories[ 11], Yemen[ 12] and Afghanistan[ 13].

Origins of Demographic Transition Theory
The idea of DTT was first advanced by Warren Thompson[ 15] in 1929. He divided the world into
three major groups:
· Countries with rapidly declining birth and death rates, with fertility declining more rapidly than
mortality, resulting in a declining growth rate (Northern[ 16] and Western Europe[ 17], North
America[ 18] and Australasia[ 19])
· Countries with declining birth and death rates in certain socio economic strata, with the rate of
decline of the death rate higher than the decline in the birth rate (Central and Southern Europe)
· Countries with high birth rates but declining death rates (rest of the world)
Frank W. Notestein[ 20] developed this theory in 1945 and suggested that there was a relationship
between population change and industrial development. He suggested that with time, countries go
through a linear evolution from traditional,

Depressio Van Gogh Mental Health Research Paper
Van Gogh and Mental Health
Vincent Van Gogh was possibly the most notable artist of the impressionist movement. However,
beyond the brilliant artwork was a man that suffered from debilitating illness. Van Gogh spent years
struggling with bouts of depression interrupted by mania and anxiety. His state of mind was well
documented in letters that he wrote to his brother Theo, an art dealer living in Paris. Using these
letters many modern psychologists have tried to accurately posthumously diagnose the illness of Van
Gogh. Accurate diagnosis of a living patient is already an endeavor and many patients don t receive an
official diagnosis. Posthumous diagnosis is even more difficult because they have limited information
about the patient. When it comes to mental illness though, the official diagnosis is not that important,
it exists mostly so the patient has a name for what they are feeling. What is more important is
identifying and recognizing the symptoms that affect the patient s life. Van Gogh experienced more
than his fair share of symptoms and often would write to his brother about how these symptoms
affected his work as an artist.
One of many symptoms that plagued Vincent Van Gogh was depression. ... Show more content on

artists, but his work really resonates with artists that struggle with their health. Despite all the

The Continuing Immigration Debate Summary
Mark Rosenblum, US IMMIGRATION POLICY SINCE 9/11 Mark Rosenblum s U.S Immigration
Policy Since 9/11 does not provide an argument but rather he describes challenges, and identifies
questions central to the future of the U.S immigration debate. Overall, it seems that prior to 9/11 it
seemed migration negotiations were stalled every time. Whether this was done purposely or is merely
a coincidence is my concern.
Rosenblum states that migration negotiations going well until 2001, post 9/11 period, when migration
negotiations with Mexico collapsed (1). Rosenblum goes on to illustrate how policy changed after

refreshing to hear that immigrants do not let policy influence their destination of settlement. I would
imagine that policy would have an immense impact on dynamics such as this. In addition, it was not
surprising that economic and social factors more prominently shape immigrants settlements and
residency patterns (1). This perspective was refreshing and different compared to others. Research

Motorcycle Helmet History
It s not set in stone, but it is thought that the earliest motorcycle was built in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler.
A simple device, not intended for high speed, there was no thought for head protection. Indian
followed suit in 1902, followed closely by Harley Davidson in 1903, with motorcycles that went faster
than the predecessor. These two builders battled it out for fastest bikes in the interim of 1931 and
1953, and as their bikes got faster, so did the fatality rate from motorcycles crashes climb.
The history of the modern motorcycle helmet began in 1953 when Professor C.F. Lombard, known as
Red, of the University of Southern California (USC), applied for a patent for a motorcycle helmet that

The Highway Safety Act of 1966 was introduced by the federal government which stated that helmet
laws in all states were required to be eligible for federal funding for highway maintenance and
construction. In 1974 the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) set safety standards that every
motorcycle helmet was required to pass and all helmets must be inspected and have a DOT sticker to
prove that the helmet passed the inspection and met the minimum requirements. The USC Head
Protection Research Laboratories lobbied the federal government in 1997 to upgrade these standards.
Back to 1977, for reasons unknown, the federal government repealed the helmet law and within three
years half of the states followed suit and repealed their own helmet laws. Motorcycle injuries and
fatalities rose sharply, seems the people forgot that 80% of motorcycle accidents resulted in injury or
death. Statistics show that a motorcyclist is twenty one times per driven mile more likely to be killed
than persons driving cars.

Should Sports Be Allowed In The High School Curriculum
Should athletics be accepted in the High School Curriculum? Many people assume that athletics in
education are a blessing and not a necessary evil. Athletics keep truancy issues low and school spirits
high, but come at a cost of the disappointing the athlete and could quite possibly scar him or her for
the rest of their lives. In discussions of school sports, one controversial issue has always been if sports
are truly good for the student. On the one hand, those for athletics argue that basic social skills and
discipline are taught and enforced. On the other hand, however, an athlete must sacrifice learning and
study to participate in his or her sport. Other students who do not participate in any athletic event

Ranger Killed During Rescue Of Climbers On Mount Rainer
If you were stuck on the top of a mountain with a broken leg wouldn t you want to get rescued? I think
the climbers should get rescued because rescue attempts can draw attention to the hazards and safety
of climbing, and the rescuers can become heroes. That s why people who put themselves at risk do
have the right to get rescued.
One reason people should have the right to rescue services is, when people get rescued it can draw
attention to hazards and safety of climbing. In the article Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers on

The Similarities Of Frank Wright And Frank OGehry
More and more people create our hotels, schools, homes, theme parks, and several other structures.
Those people are called architects, they are people who design buildings and construct them in some
cases. People may also define them as scientists and artists. Frank Wright and Frank O Gehry are
similar, however, they have their own unique style and design when it comes to buildings. Frank
Wright (1867 1959), is an American architect born on June 8th in Richland Center, Wisconsin
(Biography.com n.d.). A modern design, he produced an organic and clear American style
(Architectural Digest n.d.). Wright founded his own firm and developed the Prairie School single story
homes with low, slanted roofs and extended rows on the windowpane, using the available materials
from local business and clean and not painted wood (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica 2017).
The Robie House (Figure 1) located in Chicago and Unity Temple placed in Oak Park (Biography.com
n.d.). Wright was known mainly in Europe but not in the United States. In 1913, Wright designed his
home on his maternal ancestors land in Spring Green, Wisconsin (Architectural Digest n.d.). This
home was named Taliesin, sadly it got burnt down twice and he still remodeled it again (The Editors
of Encyclopedia Britannica 2017). Wright wrote two books in 1932: An Autobiography and The
Disappearing City, both are known as architectural literature (Biography.com n.d.). In addition, to

American dream s inception. On the surface, it is a beautiful rags to riches tale, a harmless capitalist
ideal; see past the facade, however, and one will find a plethora of immorality and inequalities
spanning race, class, and gender. One of the most prominent events in American history that put the
American Dream under the citizens lens was the Vietnam War; the draft and the loss of countless
innocent lives forced the average American to reevaluate the morality of a dream deeply ingrained in
their culture. John Irving skillfully weaves the Vietnam War into A Prayer for Owen Meany to
highlight one of many flaws of the American Dream; through this and many other events, Irving
shows that the Dream beats down morality and kindness, encourages unhealthy self centeredness, and
does not take into account events people cannot avoid.
First, Irving makes it clear that there is no room for morality and kindness in the American Dream.
Instead, these qualities are treated as diversions on the road to self made. For instance, when
describing the living conditions of Hester and Owen, John tells the reader, I think that her late hours...
were in part responsible for Owen Meany s decline as a

A Report On Shopping Carts
Shopping carts have come a long way since bags, baskets, and early cart designs. The current design
maximizes storage with a big basket, a rack, and a child seat, but is missing technology to make
shopping easier. Smartphones are so commonly used in this day and age and SmartCart, our product,
utilizes current technology like smartphones. With the SmartCart app, customers are able to make
lists, compare prices, and prepare their shopping trip. When they arrive at the store, they can sync their
pre made trip from their phones to a screen on the shopping cart. This makes shopping quicker and
more efficient, for you can see any information you may need on items right on your cart. The
SmartCart perfectly combines current technology with our breakthrough technology that is not present
in grocery stores today. With any new product and technology, there are things that could go wrong.
However SmartCart creates an overall better shopping experience and has a big upside.
Present Technology
Shopping carts today include features and storage Goldman would be proud of. A standard cart
contains a single basket with a rack on the bottom, four wheels, and a seat for infants and small
children. Carts are easy to push and hold lots of items. There is even a way to push one cart inside of
another to save space while storing. The shopping cart mostly ensures maximum storage and easiest
movement, but there are still limitations present and room to improve. The current shopping

Types Of Enthalpy Changes In Chemical And Chemical Changes
Enthalpy changes in chemical and physical processes M1 and D1
By sharing electrons, atoms within a molecule that are attracted to one another is called an
intramolecular force. Between the molecules intermolecular force, the physical properties for example
the melting points and boiling points, relate to the solubility and the strength of these force.
Protons are positive components and electrons are negative components. The attractive force that
exists between the two is known as an intermolecular force due to the atoms and molecules of the
substance. Intermolecular forces have four types:
Ionic forces This is like the dipole dipole interaction but it differs slightly as ions are used as well as
polar molecules. ions are held together by electrostatic forces in ionic solids. The charges in an ion are
attracted to each other because they are opposites. This force is the strongest intermolecular force. In a
crystal lattice structure, the ion forces hold the ions together.
https://www.nature.com/articles/srep35684 Dipole Forces When a molecule has two poles they are
called dipoles or polar covalent molecules. The molecule will have a partial positive charge on one
pole whilst the other pole will have a different charge that is partially negative. Therefore, the
molecules will rearrange themselves so the charges are attracted to the opposite charge so it works.

The Tiananmen Square Massacre Greatly Impacted The World
The Tiananmen Square Massacre greatly impacted the way the rest of the world viewed the Chinese
government. Imagine not having the freedom of speech that we do today, or living in a country that
kills the innocent. In 1989, college students exercised their right to freedom of speech while protesting
their communist leaders, and the leaders of Communist China put the demonstration down with
military force resulting in possibly thousands killed. But, throughout the last 25 years China has
grown and developed into a much different country than it was during the late 1980 s. Granted, the
country still has a long way to go before it resembles the democracy present in the United States
today, but it seems to be headed in the right direction. The Tiananmen Square is a large public area
and its name, Tiananmen, translates ironically to Gate of Heavenly Peace (CNN Library, 2015). It is
located in Beijing, the capital of China (as seen in the map to the right). The square was built during
the early Ming dynasty and covered around one hundred acres. During this time period it was the
largest open area in the world. The Tiananmen Square did not technically adopt its name until the PRC
took power in 1949. In 958, the square was enlarged into its present day size and it was also paved
over. Located inside the square is the Monument to the People s Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao
Zedong. China developed a communist government in 1921 and Mao Zedong took control in 1927.

Comparing the Ways in Which a Tabloid Newspaper and a Broadsheet
Newspaper Treat the Same News Story
The death of John Thaw was announced in national newspapers on the Friday 22nd of February 2002.
In my essay I am going to compare the story of John Thaws death from two newspapers. These
newspapers are the Mirror, which is a tabloid and the Times which is a broadsheet.
Tabloid newspapers include the Sun, Star, and Mirror. Broadsheet newspapers include the Gaurdian,
Times, and the Daily Telegraph.
The differences between a broadsheet and a tabloid are the size, a tabloid newspaper is half the size of
a broadsheet. You need a lower reading age to read a tabloid because there are shorter articles, ...

In the times newspapers the article about John Thaws death is at the bottom of the page. It s not very
noticible, it s not the lead story, the lead story is about politics. Also the article doesn t contain any
pictures. It consists of six, two inch columns. In the Mirror the article is the lead story. They dedicate
almost half the front page to John Thaw plus the whole of page seven, also there are seven photos of
John Thaw throughout his life.
The headline in the Times is small and doesn t stand out, it gives the main details and it s factual, the
headline is also present tense John Thaw dies , this is present tense so that readers think they are
getting the latest news. The headline in the Mirror is huge, black and bold, it s also short and stark,
and not a complete sentence. The headline is emotive Morse star John dead , this stirs the emotions of
the readers. The headline contains all one syllable words and it is also in the present tense.
In the opening paragraph of a newspaper article the journalist usually uses the four w s which are who,
what, where, and when. This is the key information of the article, readers usually make the decision
whether to read ahead if they want more detail, based on the photographs, headlines, and the first

The Technique Of Film Video Editing History Theory And...
In Ken Dancyger: The Technique of Film Video Editing History Theory and Practice we can clearly
see how editing has changed from the earliest films, when editing was nonexistent to a time when the
camera never moved when shooting a scene to a time where you can use montage concepts to make a
film more dynamic for the viewer. These were all different stages editing has gone through to get to
the point where can use editing as a story telling tool which is just as important as the any other part of
creating a film. Edwin. S. Porter was the man who took the idea of editing and made it a useful tool in

Intellectual montage This refers when the director introduces an idea in a emotional and charged scene

Introduction. With Russia Being One Of The Largest Countries

With Russia being one of the largest countries in the world, they tend to show some signs of a weak
economic system. Russia s oil price dependency has taken a big turn in evolving drastically over the
years. In terms of the Russian Federation, they have a GDP of 2.097 trillion USD and a GNI of 3.328
PPP dollars. The currency in which Russia utilizes on a day to day basis is called the Russian ruble.
One Russian ruble would be equivalent to 0.018 USD when converting currencies. With its former
name being the Soviet ruble, it was changed in 1992 to adhere to the Russian Federation as the ending

Problem Identification
The problem in which Russia s economic system possess involve many different areas of crisis.
Russia s economic growth has been decreasing due to oil pricing and Western financial sanctions.
Without investment, the economy cannot grow. Russia dealt with this problem in 2012 when Putin
rose to power as it seemingly stopped growing. In 2014, investment eventually started to decline
which resulted in the crash of the Russian economic system.
The Russian economy has been deep in ostensibly low growth rates. Poverty and unemployment are a
huge factor resulted from a declining economy. Unemployment is said to be low, while poverty is
considered to be decently high in the formerly known Soviet Union. With the 50% decline in the value
of the Russian ruble, it has adversely impacted the standard of living in Russia at a great amount.
According to this impact, it is said that Russia is in more danger of economic crisis than the global
economic recession that occurred in 2008 2009.

PROFESSION OF ARMS
The purpose of this paper is to express a set of views on the ethical obligations of members of the
American profession of arms in order to stimulate thoughtful discussion and broader debate about the
proper limits of acceptable and effective professional conduct. These views are focused for most part
on the obligations of commissioned officers, but they apply in many ways to the public and private

Professionals generally begin their professional lives by completing a higher education program in
their chosen fields (law, medicine, engineering, and so on). Professional military education (PME)
provides the Army s corollary to civilian education programs and complements the training of military
officers who have a corresponding civilian profession. PME provides progressive levels of military
education that prepare military officers for leadership. It includes various basic level courses for new

officers. Similar levels of PME are in place for warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, and

to certify its personnel as professionals, I contend that we have, and have had, systems in place to

Gabriela Cowperthwaite Blackfish Controversy
Exaggeration and Manipulation Undermine Blackfish s Credibility Gabriela Cowperthwaite s activist
documentary, Blackfish, spurred a significant public dialogue following its 2013 premier. The film
centers on the role of Tilikum, an orca whale at SeaWorld, in the deaths of three SeaWorld trainers,
including, most recently, Dawn Brancheau. Cowperthwaite follows a suit brought against Sea World
by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), weaving together testimony of
scientists, former trainers, and family members of the deceased, among others, to make a compelling
case against SeaWorld s practice of holding and performing alongside orcas. Nevertheless, after its
release, the film drew criticism from some of its participants as well as Sea World itself.
Cowperthwaite claims not to have tried to vilify SeaWorld. However, this claim seems dubious given
the film s fairly evident anti SeaWorld bias. On its website, SeaWorld asserts that several key points
made in Blackfish are untrue. One of the film s primary claims is that orcas in the wild live
significantly longer than those in captivity, which bolsters the film s thesis that captivity harms orcas.

simply to get people thinking, she would have given viewers a positive perspective as well, so as to

Phaedra s Passions
The overall main causes of the majority of problems the characters in Racine s Phaedra have are due
to their own passions. This is despite their roles within a society based upon the idea reason rather
than passion. An example of this is the fact that Phaedra loves Hippolytus, despite being her stepson, a
passion which she very much feels guilty about it, as it is completely against the established norms of
their society. She becomes crazed with this passion, attempting to stay within reason by convincing
herself that she must die without telling anyone, feeling that her guilt and shame for it would become
worse if others knew. However, her passion eventually defeats her reasoning and logic.
An example of the direct relationship between passion and reason in the character of Phaedra is shown
after Phaedra tells Hippolytus of her feelings. Directly afterward Phaedra displays regret in her choice
to state her feelings out loud, because she knows that she committed this action solely out of passion,
with no reasoning behind it. Her lack of reason is at such an extreme that she will not even allow ...

Distillation is the main separation method in chemical process industries. This process involves low
thermodynamic efficiency and high energy demand due to the heat that is added in the bottom reboiler
and thrown away in the top condenser. For this reason, to improve energy efficient distillation
systems, heat integration concept was first proposed by Brugma [1], Wright [2], Petlyuk et al.[3] and
Freshwater [4,5] almost 70 years ago. Nakaiwa et al. [6] has recently discussed these systems in an
excellent review. In another review, Amiya [7] introduced many other heat integration schemes which
have been developed so far in depth.
Heat pump systems can be used to upgrade heat from a lower quality energy source in the condenser
to a higher quality energy source in the reboiler. Heat pump assisted distillation column was first
introduced in the mid 1970s [8]. Previously, a number of studies on heat pump assisted distillation
have been reported in the literature. Omideyi et al. [9] developed a quick selection method for vapor
compression (VC) heat pump assisted distillation columns. Fonyo and Mizsey [10] simplified the
method and included vapor recompression as well as absorption heat pump scheme. Kiss et al. [11]
developed selection scheme of energy efficient technologies for binary distillation. Van de bor et al.
[12] presented a quick performance map and made selection simpler and more suitable.

Comparison Between Blood And Belonging
Michael Memis
October 23, 2016
English P8
If there was a book that had every unwritten rule in society, even the obvious ones, the book would be
as big as the Bible! While some unwritten rules are obvious or not helpful, many of the rules that aren
t followed by people all the time will help that person belong in society. In the book Blood and
Belonging, the author states To belong is to understand the tacit codes of the people you live with. It
basically is saying that a person has to follow the unwritten rules of society if they want to be treated
like they belong. The unwritten rules are still helpful today and though many places have different
ones, many of them are universal.
One occasion where unwritten rules are helpful are when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They should wear the proper attire, usually a button down shirt with nice pants and black socks and
shoes. Some places may have different requirements but that is the general accepted attire. The clothes
also should be clean and ironed out. The worker should give a firm handshake when greeted by the
boss. The employee shouldn t date their boss because if it doesn t turn out well, the boss can make life
hell for their ex. They should try not to spend too much time on personal e mails or having personal
phone calls with family and friends. The employee shouldn t insult or make fun of the boss in a place
where the boss or a person in communication with the boss can hear. If on the worker is on the

An employee should not reply all to a company e mail where he is only communicating back to the

Impacts of Tourism in Vancouver Essay
Tourism is an endeavour sought by an individual or a party of individuals, which leads to a movement
from one place to another with the idealism of a specific task, to visit a place or several places with the
primary purpose of achieving entertainment and increasing knowledge of countries, cultures, and their
history. The expression largest industry in the world is universally used with mention to tourism,
ensuring its recognition as the largest generator of wealth (over 11.7% of the global gross domestic
product) and employment (7% of the world s jobs); this shows that tourism is indeed an important
industry that depends on culture and legacy.(Budeanu, 2002) Vancouver is feasibly one of the most
prevalent tourist destinations in Canada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Vancouver the impacts of tourism is shown through cultural issues related to economic growth and
through the analysis of social issues. It is how the city of Vancouver copes with their mistakes and
strives for improvement that the world is able to understand the true importance that tourism can have
on any destinations. Gilbert Keith Chesterton a British journalist, novelist and poet once said, The
traveler sees what he sees, the tourist see what he has come to see , by saying this it is enforced that
tourists come to Vancouver in order to take in the sights of nature that are around every corner and to
delve into the many attractions that Vancouver has established with the sole purpose of attracting
vacationers. With the appeal of vacationers there is an escalation in occupation spots and which will
lead to a lower unemployment rate (Figure 1), although this is a positive aspect of increasing tourist
population the negative effects are bountiful.
The use of natural resources to attract tourists, if successful, leads to the obligation of an infrastructure
upon nature . Over time, it is the manmade structures that maintain the desirability of the tourist resort,
not the natural features that prompted the original.(Ryan, 1991) Thus by focusing too much on
attracting tourists

The Standards Of Society In The House Of The Spirits By...
It is often said that we are shaped by our environments; we all interact with our surroundings in some
form or another, and we are further influenced by and interact with the society we live in. In fiction,
characters interact the same way within their fictional societies and social positions, as characters
reflect how actual people relate to their world. In the novel The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende,
there exist many societal norms and standards that influence the characters and their actions in
different ways. This essay focuses on these standards and how they relate to the character of Férula
Trueba, and her position in the society she lives in. Allende s novel The House of the Spirits takes
place in the religious and patriarchal society of 20th Century Chile, where the character Férula
embraces religious austerity and internalizes her role as caretaker, resulting in embitterment and
repression of her feelings.
The setting of the novel begins in the early 20th century, in the Capital, where both the del Valle
family and the Trueba family reside. The Capital is inferred to be in the country of Chile. Many of the
standards of the society are first shown through the del Valle family and the central character, Esteban
Trueba. It is clear that this society emphasizes reputation and morality, and that it is deeply religious;
Severo del Valle is atheist, but both him and his family attend Catholic Mass because he could not
allow himself the luxury of missing the

Do Mergers Add Value to Business

times where there is cut throat competition for even the biggies, organizations who have been playing
since many decades and the rulers of economy it became a concern for them for how to survive? Here
in cropped up the Idea of MERGERS. Well, whether a Merger adds value to business cannot be
answered in a yes or a No. This depends on what kind of a Merger that is. The following essay will

It could be A) Unfocused approach or demotivated employees B) Not enough funds C) Cultural
differences D) Disregard of the main business Point A implies that a lot times a Merger is happening
for the sake of it as in just because it s a trend and it would bring the organization in the news. It may
happen not for a real Business cause but for having media attention. Here the Banking institution or
the Lawyer normally tries to be diplomatic and never corrects or advice their possible clients in order
for their own interests being served. Point B implies that a lot of time when the organizations keep
their finances as secrets or they hold it onto the last minute to open up about their finances it is
sometimes too late by then. Point C says clearly that two different geographical locations or different
cultures could pose problems within the managements and operation style. Point D reflects that a lot
of times when there are more than required post merger meetings, concentrating on excessive cost
cutting, or social gatherings more than what is required, it happens that the employee starts to loose
onto interest. It could even be when the revenues are much less than what s expected that the
motivation of the employee sways away. (http://books.google.co.uk) (Senese,James A.) 2007 (

Justification by Reflective Equilibrium
Justification by Reflective Equilibrium
Famously, John Rawls is regarded as using reflective equilibrium (RE) to justify his principles of
justice. But the point of justification by RE in Rawls s more recent work is not easily established since
he regards his own work as still contractarian. In order to clarify matters, I distinguish between wide
and narrow RE, as well as show that wide RE consists of several kinds of narrow RE: RE as a plea for
(re)consideration, RE as a constructive procedure of choice, and safe ground RE. The connection of
these REs is shown in order to reach justification. The point of introducing RE for justification is seen
in opening the range of possible revisions to allow for consensus. However, (the lack of) ... Show

These narrow REa are of different kinds in that respect Daniels s account is insufficient:
We are in the (permanent) procedure of establishing a RE between the intuitions we have concerning a
certain case and proposed rules or principles. RE here describes a constructive procedure of choice,
where both principles/rules and descriptions for our intuitions are to be chosen in a mutually
constructive way. (12) Let s call this RE as constructive procedure of choice.
It is uncertain whether or not in Rawls s view there already exists a RE between these principles/rules
and the background cluster of principles or whether we are to create that RE in due process. In any
case, the RE involved in this process is of an already familiar kind: it is the plea for (re)consideration
of some rather firmly held or some newly proposed principles.
Finally, there is a RE between parts of the background cluster and some other intuitions. In this sense
we already have proven background principles, that is principles we have proved to fit our intuitions
about some cases (though perhaps not others). As a result there is a RE between those background
principles and some relevant intuitions. Here, clearly, is another kind of RE involved; let us call this
third kind of RE the safe ground RE.
These different kinds of narrow equilibria are prone to different problems. (13) Here, one of

  • 2. Essay On Community Nursing Community Health Nursing Reflection NUR/405 August 7, 2012 Community Health Nursing Reflection According to Phyllis Meadows (2009), Community health nurses are valued for their adaptability and willingness to provide care in many settings, including community health clinics, churches, homeless shelters, and schools, (p. 19). Community health nurses aim to improve health outcomes and improve the infrastructure used to monitor and manage disease within the community. Healthy People 2020 has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time to improve health outcomes. Because of diverse populations it is important that community nurses develop cultural competence and are educated and prepared to address these differences within the community. Interventions may include nutritional assessment, identification and referrals to help resources (e.g., WIC or assistance office), and education regarding appropriate foods needed to meet nutritional needs. A diagnosis of risk for fluid volume deficit related to farming during high temperatures includes interventions such as educating and emphasizing the need for adequate fluid intake during times of increased activities and high temperatures and how to recognize signs of dehydration. Nursing interventions for a diagnosis of risk for injury related to work environment/occupation or environmental wastes may include educating on proper body mechanics and ensuring equipment in use is working properly and individuals are trained how to use such equipment. Another diagnosis of risk of poisoning related to chemicals associated with place of employment, high possibility of drinking water contamination, and presence of lead paint. • 3. The Negative Effects of Oil Spills Have on Nigeria, A letter Dear President My name is John Doe. I am writing this letter to inform you about the negative effects in Nigeria oil spills have on its people and the environment around them. Oil spills pollute the water, killing animals and plant life that inhabit the area around the spill. It is important that this problem is to be looked at and solved. Nigeria s Niger Delta is one of the most oil polluted places on the planet with more than 6,800 recorded oil spills. Millions of barrels of oil were spilled into the Niger Delta.. Some people inhabit the land around it. The water is there main resource to use. They use it for irrigation, drinking, and bathing. They use the water for their everyday needs. The water is too polluted for them to drink anymore and they can t use the water for irrigation because it is killing all of their crops. Multiple people have suffered from illnesses from drinking the oil polluted water. Cleanups don t clean the land very well even though they are supposed to clean deep into the ground. A percent of Nigerian mangrove ecosystems have been destroyed out by oil. The known effects of oil on mangroves are making the soil into acid, stop cellular respiration, and they do not let the roots get oxygen. The loss of mangrove forests does not only decrease the life of plants and animals. They also affect humans. The indigenous people living in the affected areas highly value these systems. How Did Castro Cause The Cuban Revolution DRAFT Fidel Castro A Rebel With A Cause The Cuban Revolution was a massive revolt led by Fidel Castro and powered by people with the common goal to bring back the peace. The Cuban government was led by the dictator Fulgencio Batista who took away basic freedoms that damaged society. Fidel Castro wanted to bring back the peace with a radical mission to overtake a nearby army garrison. With a chaotic attack on Moncada Barracks, Fidel Castro failed at his coup d etat but did not meet an unsuccessful end. While being denied access to physical papers and documents, he used ideas from European and American revolutions as the basis of his defense. Castro even recalled ideas from Rousseau, Thomas Paine s Rights of Man and the American Declaration of Independence. Most importantly, he argued how he was fighting for the people of Cuba, how Batista had created a reign of terror, and that the people should uprise in order to achieve peace. • 7. Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to have devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different degrees of motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained what is the effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math scores (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed methods quasi experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and sixth through eighth grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools were selected to participate in the study. The student populations in each school were described as lower middle working class and predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school, two classes were randomly selected out of each grade level and randomly assigned to experimental groups. The participant groups were administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14. The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its correlation with school curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). • 8. Automobiles and the American Society The Automobile and American Society Before the invention of the automobile, travel was a very difficult thing. Horses and carriages were needed to transport a person from one place to another. Consequently, many people lived their entire lives without travelling much further than the outskirts of the village or town in which they were born. Since there was little travel, locations which had attracted enough people grew into large metropolitan cities where anything that a person needed could be obtained within a short distance from their front doors. The large cities attracted even more people because these then became the locations where the most profitable jobs could be found. Once employment was found, the person would move into the city and raise their family who would then contribute to the growth of the city. This is how things were until the automobile was invented. Few people who first encountered the machine could know that it would forever change the geographic and sociological makeup of the United States of America, but that is what it did. Trains had already been invented and people could travel from one side of the country to the other, but they could only go to the destinations which had railroad lines. The automobile gave the individual the ability to choose their own destination both physically and metaphorically. By the end of the 1920s more than 26 million cars were produced, one for approximately every five people of the United States (Faragher 2009, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let UGA be RIGHT for good WHITE Christian students. This had been posted onto The Black Affairs Council Facebook page. Man For All Seasons Corruption The play in A Man for All Seasons, written by Robert Holt in the 1960s, retells the story of King Henry the VIII, his separation from the Church, and how his chancellor Thomas More resisted all attempts from the King to make him approve of the action. This story confirms that management of political power corrupts the minds and hearts of groups and individuals, such as Cromwell and King Henry VIII, but for some, such as Thomas More, it teaches them the importance of integrity and remaining faithful to one s own truths. He silently but resolutely resisted the King s attempts to break him, until his death Power itself is not evil, and never has been. It s only a tool. But there are temptations of power; temptations of absolute control, fame, and gain. People stumble underneath the pressure of these enticements, because their character and moral strength are not established enough. People like this, like Master Rich, are so eager to achieve that fame or absolute control, that they willingly relinquish their better judgement and good character. Often this happens through other men of corruption and carnal desires. But, even among hosts of weak and stumbling men, Thomas More remains steadfast to his beliefs and principles, valuing integrity and wisdom far higher than fame and popularity. While the responsibility of power easily corrupts many people, including kings and scholars, for others, and for Thomas More, it awakens them to the dangers of lust for power and tutors them on the importance of ... • 12. Cases Concerning Fundamental Breach And Non Delivery 3. Cases concerning fundamental breach 3.1. Non delivery The failure of the seller in delivering the goods is almost always considered to be a fundamental breach. This could be exemplified by a decision of Hamburg arbitration award, whereby a seller from Czech and buyer from Germany disputed over an advance payment for the goods and delivery. The seller suspended delivery of the goods claiming advance payment, whereas, the buyer requested for avoidance of the contract due to non delivery. The tribunal held that, advance payment should not be a ground to suspend delivery, therefore, confirmed the request of the buyer to avoid the contract. Similar view has been held by an arbitration tribunal in China whereby, failure of the seller to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the type of goods to be delivered should also be taken into account when determining late delivery as a fundamental breach. For instance, in the case between Italdecor s.a.s v. Yiu s Industries (H.K.) Limited, the buyer claimed for avoidance of the contract and refund of the purchase price for the knitwear ordered due to the late delivery. The appellate court of Millan held that, although fixed after the contract was concluded, time was important as the goods were to be sold at the end of the year s sales. Therefore, the seller has committed fundamental breach and confirmed the buyer request of avoidance, restitution of the already effected payment along with interest. On another case involving summer cloths it was held that, a late the delivery by one day would not constitute a fundamental breach. Although, there seems to be a general agreement as to mere late delivery not amounting to fundamental breach; it still would be challenging to reach at a conclusion as to what accounts as mere and substantial late delivery in terms of days. 3.3. • 15. Depressio Van Gogh Mental Health Research Paper Van Gogh and Mental Health Vincent Van Gogh was possibly the most notable artist of the impressionist movement. However, beyond the brilliant artwork was a man that suffered from debilitating illness. Van Gogh spent years struggling with bouts of depression interrupted by mania and anxiety. His state of mind was well documented in letters that he wrote to his brother Theo, an art dealer living in Paris. Using these letters many modern psychologists have tried to accurately posthumously diagnose the illness of Van Gogh. Accurate diagnosis of a living patient is already an endeavor and many patients don t receive an official diagnosis. Posthumous diagnosis is even more difficult because they have limited information about the patient. When it comes to mental illness though, the official diagnosis is not that important, it exists mostly so the patient has a name for what they are feeling. What is more important is identifying and recognizing the symptoms that affect the patient s life. Those people are called architects, they are people who design buildings and construct them in some cases. People may also define them as scientists and artists. Frank Wright and Frank O Gehry are similar, however, they have their own unique style and design when it comes to buildings. Frank Wright (1867 1959), is an American architect born on June 8th in Richland Center, Wisconsin (Biography.com n.d.). A modern design, he produced an organic and clear American style (Architectural Digest n.d.). • 24. The American Dream In John Irving s A Prayer For Owen Meany Bernie Sanders, politician and former presidential candidate, is cited as saying, For many, the American dream has become a nightmare. Concise yet compelling, this quote represents not only todays opposition to the idea of an American dream; it captures a reality that has existed since the American dream s inception. On the surface, it is a beautiful rags to riches tale, a harmless capitalist ideal; see past the facade, however, and one will find a plethora of immorality and inequalities spanning race, class, and gender. One of the most prominent events in American history that put the American Dream under the citizens lens was the Vietnam War; the draft and the loss of countless innocent lives forced the average American to reevaluate the morality of a dream deeply ingrained in their culture. John Irving skillfully weaves the Vietnam War into A Prayer for Owen Meany to highlight one of many flaws of the American Dream; through this and many other events, Irving shows that the Dream beats down morality and kindness, encourages unhealthy self centeredness, and does not take into account events people cannot avoid. First, Irving makes it clear that there is no room for morality and kindness in the American Dream. Instead, these qualities are treated as diversions on the road to self made. For instance, when describing the living conditions of Hester and Owen, John tells the reader, I think that her late hours... were in part responsible for Owen Meany s decline as a ... The current design maximizes storage with a big basket, a rack, and a child seat, but is missing technology to make shopping easier. Smartphones are so commonly used in this day and age and SmartCart, our product, utilizes current technology like smartphones. With the SmartCart app, customers are able to make lists, compare prices, and prepare their shopping trip. When they arrive at the store, they can sync their pre made trip from their phones to a screen on the shopping cart. This makes shopping quicker and more efficient, for you can see any information you may need on items right on your cart. The SmartCart perfectly combines current technology with our breakthrough technology that is not present in grocery stores today. With any new product and technology, there are things that could go wrong. However SmartCart creates an overall better shopping experience and has a big upside. Present Technology Shopping carts today include features and storage Goldman would be proud of. A standard cart contains a single basket with a rack on the bottom, four wheels, and a seat for infants and small children. Carts are easy to push and hold lots of items. There is even a way to push one cart inside of another to save space while storing. Types Of Enthalpy Changes In Chemical And Chemical Changes Enthalpy changes in chemical and physical processes M1 and D1 By sharing electrons, atoms within a molecule that are attracted to one another is called an intramolecular force. Between the molecules intermolecular force, the physical properties for example the melting points and boiling points, relate to the solubility and the strength of these force. Protons are positive components and electrons are negative components. The attractive force that exists between the two is known as an intermolecular force due to the atoms and molecules of the substance. Intermolecular forces have four types: Ionic forces This is like the dipole dipole interaction but it differs slightly as ions are used as well as polar molecules. ions are held together by electrostatic forces in ionic solids. The charges in an ion are attracted to each other because they are opposites. This force is the strongest intermolecular force. In a crystal lattice structure, the ion forces hold the ions together. https://www.nature.com/articles/srep35684 Dipole Forces When a molecule has two poles they are called dipoles or polar covalent molecules. The molecule will have a partial positive charge on one pole whilst the other pole will have a different charge that is partially negative. Imagine not having the freedom of speech that we do today, or living in a country that kills the innocent. In 1989, college students exercised their right to freedom of speech while protesting their communist leaders, and the leaders of Communist China put the demonstration down with military force resulting in possibly thousands killed. But, throughout the last 25 years China has grown and developed into a much different country than it was during the late 1980 s. Granted, the country still has a long way to go before it resembles the democracy present in the United States today, but it seems to be headed in the right direction. The Tiananmen Square is a large public area and its name, Tiananmen, translates ironically to Gate of Heavenly Peace (CNN Library, 2015). It is located in Beijing, the capital of China (as seen in the map to the right). The square was built during the early Ming dynasty and covered around one hundred acres. During this time period it was the largest open area in the world. The Tiananmen Square did not technically adopt its name until the PRC took power in 1949. In 958, the square was enlarged into its present day size and it was also paved over. Located inside the square is the Monument to the People s Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. While some unwritten rules are obvious or not helpful, many of the rules that aren t followed by people all the time will help that person belong in society. In the book Blood and Belonging, the author states To belong is to understand the tacit codes of the people you live with. It basically is saying that a person has to follow the unwritten rules of society if they want to be treated like they belong. • 45. Impacts of Tourism in Vancouver Essay Tourism is an endeavour sought by an individual or a party of individuals, which leads to a movement from one place to another with the idealism of a specific task, to visit a place or several places with the primary purpose of achieving entertainment and increasing knowledge of countries, cultures, and their history. The expression largest industry in the world is universally used with mention to tourism, ensuring its recognition as the largest generator of wealth (over 11.7% of the global gross domestic product) and employment (7% of the world s jobs); this shows that tourism is indeed an important industry that depends on culture and legacy.(Budeanu, 2002) Vancouver is feasibly one of the most prevalent tourist destinations in Canada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Vancouver the impacts of tourism is shown through cultural issues related to economic growth and through the analysis of social issues. It is how the city of Vancouver copes with their mistakes and strives for improvement that the world is able to understand the true importance that tourism can have on any destinations. Gilbert Keith Chesterton a British journalist, novelist and poet once said, The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist see what he has come to see , by saying this it is enforced that tourists come to Vancouver in order to take in the sights of nature that are around every corner and to delve into the many attractions that Vancouver has established with the sole purpose of attracting vacationers. With the appeal of vacationers there is an escalation in occupation spots and which will lead to a lower unemployment rate (Figure 1), although this is a positive aspect of increasing tourist population the negative effects are bountiful. The use of natural resources to attract tourists, if successful, leads to the obligation of an infrastructure upon nature . Over time, it is the manmade structures that maintain the desirability of the tourist resort, not the natural features that prompted the original.(Ryan, 1991) Thus by focusing too much on attracting tourists ... • 46. The Standards Of Society In The House Of The Spirits By... It is often said that we are shaped by our environments; we all interact with our surroundings in some form or another, and we are further influenced by and interact with the society we live in. In fiction, characters interact the same way within their fictional societies and social positions, as characters reflect how actual people relate to their world. In the novel The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, there exist many societal norms and standards that influence the characters and their actions in different ways. This essay focuses on these standards and how they relate to the character of Férula Trueba, and her position in the society she lives in. Allende s novel The House of the Spirits takes place in the religious and patriarchal society of 20th Century Chile, where the character Férula embraces religious austerity and internalizes her role as caretaker, resulting in embitterment and repression of her feelings. The setting of the novel begins in the early 20th century, in the Capital, where both the del Valle family and the Trueba family reside. The Capital is inferred to be in the country of Chile. Many of the standards of the society are first shown through the del Valle family and the central character, Esteban Trueba. It is clear that this society emphasizes reputation and morality, and that it is deeply religious; Severo del Valle is atheist, but both him and his family attend Catholic Mass because he could not allow himself the luxury of missing the ... • 48. Justification by Reflective Equilibrium Justification by Reflective Equilibrium Famously, John Rawls is regarded as using reflective equilibrium (RE) to justify his principles of justice. But the point of justification by RE in Rawls s more recent work is not easily established since he regards his own work as still contractarian. In order to clarify matters, I distinguish between wide and narrow RE, as well as show that wide RE consists of several kinds of narrow RE: RE as a plea for (re)consideration, RE as a constructive procedure of choice, and safe ground RE. The connection of these REs is shown in order to reach justification. The point of introducing RE for justification is seen in opening the range of possible revisions to allow for consensus. However, (the lack of) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These narrow REa are of different kinds in that respect Daniels s account is insufficient: We are in the (permanent) procedure of establishing a RE between the intuitions we have concerning a certain case and proposed rules or principles. RE here describes a constructive procedure of choice, where both principles/rules and descriptions for our intuitions are to be chosen in a mutually constructive way. (12) Let s call this RE as constructive procedure of choice. It is uncertain whether or not in Rawls s view there already exists a RE between these principles/rules and the background cluster of principles or whether we are to create that RE in due process. In any case, the RE involved in this process is of an already familiar kind: it is the plea for (re)consideration of some rather firmly held or some newly proposed principles. Finally, there is a RE between parts of the background cluster and some other intuitions. In this sense we already have proven background principles, that is principles we have proved to fit our intuitions about some cases (though perhaps not others). As a result there is a RE between those background principles and some relevant intuitions. Here, clearly, is another kind of RE involved; let us call this third kind of RE the safe ground RE. These different kinds of narrow equilibria are prone to different problems. (13) Here, one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
