sickness that rocked everybody, due to the sever effects it had. Mary Seacole, who recruited
herself back to Jamaica, after being absent for eight months, in order to help the people suffering
from the disease, yellow fever. In the text she vividly explained how things were like back in

The things that are written above are all possible on the Playstation 3, but with an onion ring
diagram we can sort those possibilities out in to a clear picture. This is done by describing the
products different parts and possibilities and also dividing the product in to: the core product, the
tangible product, augmented product and potential product.
Core product:The core product is of course the gaming experience and the entertainment.
Tangible product:The tangible product is the Playstation 3 itself, the hardware, The controller and
cables.
Augmented product:This is the ting you receive with a Playstation 3 but you can t actually touch.
In the case of the Playstation 3 it is of course the fun, the family time. And also the movie
entertainment experience.
Potential product:With the Playstation 3 it is quite difficult to come up things to add to the
possibilities you already have. But next to gaming, movies it would be possible to have a computer

8. How Burnout Affects Members Of The Human Service Profession
Burnout affects people both personally and professionally regardless of occupation. In recent years
the conception of burnout has been modified, and above all it has begun to be treated as a
phenomenon which affects members of many professions not only those of the human service
professions, due to burnoutis described as a crisis in one s relationship with work in general
(Chirkowska Smolak Kleka, 2011). Academicians routinely spend many tiring hours reading,
writing, lecturing, and solving countless problems that are sustained by their students and
institutions. This level of involvement can be emotionally draining and coupled with working
environments that are often highly stressful has the potential to lead to burnout (Maslach et. al,
2001). This emotional involvement is the primary reason of the increasing rate of burnout among
academic staff in an educational institution depending on the country s working conditions
(Akgemci et al., 2013). Feelings of emotional exhaustion are a key aspect of the burnout syndrome.

The second aspect of the burnout syndrome is depersonalization. Here the academicians may
develop negative cynical attitudes toward students. They can convey such attitudes in many ways,
including the use of derogatory labels. A third aspect of burnout is the loss of feeling of
accomplishment from the job. This is extremely important in education, since academics enter the
profession not for financial reward, but because they feel they can help students. When they
perceive themselves as no longer making a meaningful contribution through their work, they

to how the two deal with them. Pecola and Claudia both live in a society where innocence is not
well maintained among children. Their development is dependent on their own abilities to handle

13. Government Intervention Essay
1.
When issues arise, governments are the ones that intervene into the market to correct market
failures; these include issues such as climate change. In order to correct these issues government
use methods such as inequality, externalities and public goods. This restores efficiency as well
as increasing the economic well being of society. The environment is accessible by every
individual as it is non excludable. Thus, meaning that no one can be prohibited from using it and
one person s use diminishes another person s use of it. Since it is a common resource accessible
to everyone, it can easily be overused, this is when a government should intervene in order to
restore the balance. There are many ways in which governments can help aid the climate issue, one
being by controlling prices in the markets (directly) or by taxing and subsidising demand and
supply (indirectly). But, obviously climate change could not be aided through something as simple
as changing the price, so that means that the intervention would be seen as indirect because there is
no market for climate change. It will be difficult for the government to measure social costs
(externality) of climate change. These exist when the production or consumption of a good has a
positive or negative side effect on third parties that are not accounted for in the price of the good.

father. Whilst this relationship is a central theme of both poems, the poems also explore a range of
issues including cultural identity, guilt and social class. This essay will attempt to analyse both
poems individually and to also identify areas of conflict and similarity between the poems.
The first two words of Follower by Seamus Heaney are My father which immediately establishes
the poet s emotionally involved relationship with the subject of the poem. In contrast the poet of

use of precise technical language set the wing And fit the bright steel pointed sock and Mapping

father s work, which therefore introduces a nostalgic theme to the poem. In contrast whilst there is
still a strong sense of admiration present in Strongman, the focus of the narrator s attentions is
directed more on to the physical strength of his father rather than any skilful aspect to the work.
Tony Curtis uses hyperbole to highlight his father s physical strength Chest like a barrel with a

of the poem shifts a gear to become a haunting collection of personal reflections. Whilst
admiration of his father is the dominant emotion in the first half of Follower, it morphs (?) into
guilt in the second half. Guilt is a prevailing theme in Seamus Heaney s work. The poem Digging

of his work as a poet with the working class labours of his family. In Digging, Seamus Heaney

17. Why Does A Basketball Bounce Higher Than A Bowling Ball
Why does a basketball bounce higher than a bowling ball? Because it is made of different
materials. A basketball is inflated with air and made with a rubber covering that has a high
bounce factor. Bowling balls are made out of hard materials that don t bounce. Why is bounce
good for a basketball and not so good for a bowling ball? Using a baseball to play basketball or a
bowling ball to play tennis doesn t make sense. Different sports require the height from which the
ball is dropped the ball s level of ignition temperature the surface upon which the ball is bounced.
The higher the ball is above the ground, the more its potential energy. As the ball is dropped and
gravity forces it downward, the ball accelerates and gains speed. As the ball falls through the air, its
potential or stored energy is converted into kinetic energy. The longer the fall, the more kinetic
energy it gains and when it hits the ground, it bounces higher. As a ball bounces, it warms. An
inated ball, like a basketball, bounces higher and faster when the temperature is warmer. This is
because the distance between the air molecules in the ball increases, helping the ball maintain its
round shape when it hits the ground. On cooler days, the distance between the air molecules gets
smaller, causing the ball to be less inated. So, it attains more when it hits the ground. A lot of
scientific research goes into developing the right bounce for the right ball. Several other factors
affect the way a ball bounces.

Tension can be an everyday occurrence in the lives of those who are married. This tension can
occur through multiple means and can be detrimental to a relationship. For example, tension in

some relationships the tension is caused because of a partners personality being overbearing or
selfish. This paper will look at Mary from Steinbeck s The Winter of Our Discontent , and how her

In the scene where Ethan asks Mary for money to give to Danny, she tells Ethan that she is still not
interested in business, and then she willingly give Ethan a thousand dollars from her own money to
him to use (122). Mary in this scene is very submissive to the judgement of Ethan. However, we
must understand that this submissive attitude by Mary is because she doesn t care for her husband
or his moral health. We can understand this because Ethan first asks her if she doesn t care about
the business. This is important to not because Ethan is trying to suggest to Mary that the business
he has planned could be considered suspicious. However, Mary clearly explains that she doesn t
want to know, and that she is apathetic towards her husband s dealings. This is important because
this apathetic attitude towards business reveals marital tension in that she is indifferent towards
her husband s actions. Indifference in a marriage can lead to many problems in life. For example,
if a wife didn t care where her husband was going at night, and later found he was committing
adultery, this could lead to a big fight or a divorce. Furthermore, Mary s attitude of submissiveness
towards her money shows further her indifference towards her husband and his dealings. She
willingly grants a thousand dollars with no questions asked to him. A thousand dollars back then
was a lot of money, and she clearly doesn t care what her husband will do with the money.
Furthermore, we understand that this money was for Danny, so that he could use it to kill himself.
This is a serious breach in moral conduct, but Mary doesn t care at all. She is revealing that,
whether or not, Ethan commits a immoral act, she is more than willing to let him commit that act,
and understanding from the previous paragraph she even encourages his immoral

no mercy. As the other humanoid species among the five realms were much larger and stronger,
their size prohibited them from physical confrontation. Instead, the Nekrums created virus sized
intelligences. With these, they were able to infect and thereby pilot living vessels to do their
bidding. And as masters of genetic splicing, they had created many kinds of monsters to defend
themselves. Montague was aware that Gretchen knew that the origin of their people had begun on
a planet other than Naan, in a civilization that was much more evolved than the colony in which
they lived. No longer able to reproduce, the Nekrum race is dying. Long ago, on a distant planet,
they learned that the humans of Enot developed a technology that would cure their genetic defect.
So they invaded and stole the miracle machine. Soon after they learned that the machine alone
couldn t generate the cure. There was another piece to the secret, and that piece was inserted into
the blood of Gabriel Volpi who later escaped Enot and migrated to Naan. He d come with nineteen
other humans who escaped from the clutches of the Nekrums. And he had a son, ensuring the

Implied Volatilities amp; Volatility Smiles
1. Why does the target cell in the Solver minimization reference the control variate estimate of the
American Put option instead of the value as implied by the tree?
It is because that control variate estimate is more accurate than the implied value by the tree. The
error of the binominal tree can be reduced by using it only to calculate the difference between the
price of the American and the equivalent European options with the same strike and the same time
to maturity.
2. Use Solver to find the implied volatilities for all put options with strike prices between $70 and
$100 that are divisible by 5 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Fix the time to maturity at 365 days. Now vary the strike price as before and also vary the
interest rate between 1.0%, 4.0% and 7.0%. Submit the table and the graph.
6. Describe briefly how the EEP depends on the parameters we varied in this exercise.
From the results we observe that early exercise premium increases at different maturity dates for
the same strike price and when varying strike price with the same maturity date the early exercise
premium increases non linearly in an upward trend. The shift in the trending from options 1, 2, 3
can be explained by the maturity, as maturity increases an American optionis more worthwhile
because more node exist where it is possible for us to exercise early. From the results early
exercise price as a function of strike price, maturity and interest rate, increases when we hold
maturity constant and vary the other two. The shift in trending can be explained by the increase in
interest rates for options 1, 2, 3 respectively. When interest rate is increased the present value of the
underlying drops and the likeliness of the option being in the money increases and therefore the
value of put option increases.

23. Lack of Female Characters in The Strange Case of Dr....
Even the most casual reader can note the fact that there are very few female characters present in
Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Those that are found within the work hardly constitute as substantial ones none of the women have
more than a few lines of dialogue and appear within the tale for longer than a chapter or two. A
bevy of critics have pointed out the fact that such an egregious omission is hardly coincidental in
fact, more than a few have cited the fact that this piece of literature functions as a protest regarding
the degree of women s liberation that the New Womanpossessed near the turn of the 20th century in
Victorian England (Reed 2). When considered through this feminist lens, it becomes easily
discernible to the prudent reader that Stevenson portrayed no femalecharacters in a positive light
and simply used them to reinforce negative aspects of femininity, which he believed were rapidly
changing for the worse.
Some critics have advanced the notion that one of the reasons there is such a paucity of women
and of strong, beneficent women in particular within this story is due to what they represented in
typical Victorian England society. Women were generally viewed as a social force or a source of
authority which reinforces this fiction of coherent male identity (Doane and Hodges 63). This
quotation suggests the fact that women were generally the keepers of morality and virtue within

Genophilosophy
ABSTRACT: Contemporary progress in life sciences, particularly in genetic engineering, is
changing our concept of human being and a whole series of other philosophical and common
notions. The conventional idea of subject will no longer be the final reference for philosophical
thinking, since even the subject qua biological or psychological structure will enjoy a high degree
of unpredictability. The results of gene technology require reinterpreting such concepts as
reproduction, individuality, history, freedom and subjectivity. This paper focuses on the question of
freedom, where freedom means the capacity to deliberate and choose between different alternatives

Gene technology requires dealing with, and reinterpreting terms such as reproduction, individuality,
history, freedom and subjectivity. Many people consider 1989 as the symbolic turning point, when
the epoch of history and society started to be replaced by the epoch of biotechnology, genetic
engineering or most recently evolution technology. We can say, that we are at the beginning of a
genetic epoch (genepoch) or as Manfred Eigen (Steps Towards Life, Oxford University Press,
1992) calls it the era of molecular biology . In this vision of history, having solved the disputed
questions of society in the practice and theory of democracy, mankind begins a new historical
period, the genetic period, where even the terminology of history will be a completely new kind.
Avant garde philosophers develop a new approach for investigating the genetic structure of all
traditional problems instead of further exploring the society, language, knowledge or physical
world. The protagonists of this new paradigm think, that after such kind of leading principals of
philosophical discussions as democracy , socialism , subject and causal sciences , there will be a
new leading idea, which by the analogy of neuronalism and cognitivism, should be called genetism.
It is not our goal here to review all the possible (medical, social, etc.) implications, which could be
involved in genetic research and in the development of

Disinformation is a news story which is deliberately designed by journalists. The news story is

A. Concealed purpose The propagandist does not tell his/her readers that he/she is a persuader,
but, in reality he or she wants to persuade people to believe in his or her own interests or those of
an organisation, a specific group or country. This means that the propagandist does not care about

performance management system in place to stay competitive. Therefore, having a well developed
performance managementprocess in place allows the employer and employee to communicate goals,
share information, and establish career growth. Performance managementneeds to contribute to the
success of the organization while providing a positive impact on the employees. Therefore, the
mission, goals and performance management should coincide with one another. UnitedHealth

28. Glycolytic Pathway
Energy needed to function comes from the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to
adenosine diphosphate (ADP). To keep a continuous supply of ATP, ATP is resynthesized using one
of the three energy pathways. The three energy pathways are the phosphagen, anaerobic and aerobic
systems.
The phosphagen system known as the ATP CP pathway, uses creatine phosphate (CP) to
resynthesize ATP. CP re bonds ADP to produce ATP after it is broken down. The ATP CP pathway
is the quickest way to resynthesize ATP and is the predominant energy system used for short term
high intensity activities. Two exercises that utilize the ATP CP pathway are weightlifting and
sprinting.
The anaerobic system known as the glycolytic pathway, uses glucose to produce ATP. Glucose is
broken down into pyruvate through glycolysis to produce ATP. The amount of energy produced is
very little, but you get the energy quickly. The glycolytic pathway is the second fastest way to
resynthesize ATP and is the predominant energy system used for large bursts activities. Two
exercises that utilize the glycolytic pathway are powerlifting such as bench press and deadlift.

complex of the three energy systems. The oxidative pathway uses blood glucose, glycogen ... Show

organization, getting a high level organization chart to help determine the divisional structure of the
organization, their communication methods, the Service Level Agreements that they have in place,
and their geographical profile in order to know whether there are additional sites in other regions.

In experiment one, fifty men and fifty women that were undergrad psychology students served as
subjects. Ten subjects of each gender were randomly assigned to see one of five videos that varied
in violent content. The main dependent variable in the first experiment was the number of
aggressive thoughts listed by the subject immediately after watching the video. The second
dependent variable was the subject s violence rating of the video they viewed. Immediately after
viewing the video, each subject filled out a set of 5 point rating scales indicating the degree to
which the video had been enjoyable, amusing, realistic, and violent. They found that, aggressive
thoughts and violence ratings both increased with the level of violence in the video which

The differences derive from theology. Both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics
understand God to exist in three forms, known as the Trinity. God is the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. The Father refers to God s role as the creator of the world. The Son refers to Jesus. Finally,
the Holy Spirit, they believe, enters people s souls during their daily lives. Another similarity is that
holding reverence for the saints plays a central role in the spiritual lives of Roman Catholics and
Eastern Orthodox Catholics. The physical representation of the saints tends to take different forms,
however. Roman Catholics usually use statutes to represent their saints, as evident in St. Martin of
Tours Catholic Church; meanwhile, Orthodox Catholics more often use paintings to represent their
saints, as evident at St. Michael s Antiochian Orthodox Church. Another difference between the two
is that for Roman Catholics there is a procedure for choosing officially sanctioned saints. This
process does not exist in the Orthodox community. The central doctrinal divide between the two
Christian churches concerns the Pope and his supremacy. Roman Catholics believe the Pope is the
living embodiment of Jesus. He is then, in their opinion, the head of the entire Christian religion.

What is racism? Racism is a projection of our own fears onto another person. What is sexism? It
s our own vulnerability of our potency and masculinity projected as our need to subjugate from
another person... Gary Ross s breakdown of the age defying constructions of race and sexism
exemplify how fabricated standards can take a toll on the well being of individuals. American
novelist Toni Morrison is renowned for her publications illustrating how racial stigma can dent a
character physically, mentally and emotionally. Sweetness , an excerpt from God Help the
Child, one of Morrison s more recent works, follows the narrative of a guilt stricken mother who
allowed society s predetermined notions of race interfere with her parenting, as her daughter was
undeniably black while she and her husband have negro roots but are lighter skinned or high
yellow . As the story develops, it is obvious that the narrator, Lula Ann s mother feels some sort of
resentment for mistreating her child and holding her back from experiencing a blissful childhood
like other youngsters, but is too shameful to admit it. With time, tables turn and Lula Ann, Lula
Mae s daughter is able to regain her self esteem, moves away, builds a career, and is preparing to

Schizophrenia and Psychotherapy Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder differentiated by
degeneration of thought processes and of emotional reaction. It is characterized by auditory
hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized speech and thought process along with considerable
social or occupational dysfunction. Onset of symptoms is usually during early adulthood.
Diagnosis is based on DSM IV criteria for diagnosis of Schizophrenia (PubMed, 2010). It mainly
affects the cognition but behavior and emotion can also be involved. Schizophrenics can have
certain coexisting conditions such as major depression and anxiety disorders. These cognitive,
emotional and behavioral problems can lead to secondary problems like unemployment, academic
difficulties and social issues. Schizophrenics have higher tendency to suicide than general
population which makes their life expectancy 15 years less than the general population. The
average life expectancy of people with the disorder is 12 to 15 years less than those without, the
result of increased physical health problems and a higher suicide rate (about 5%). Following are the
classification of Schizophrenia according to DSM IV Manual Paranoid type: delusions,
hallucinations without affecting the thought behavior, and cognition. (DSM code 295.3/ICD code

Over Generalization and Highly Sameness in Anti Semitism
The literary criticism Mimicry written by Joseph Goebbels and the film Jud SГјss directed by Veit
Harlan share a same striking characteristic of the imagery in the anti Semitic ideology its stereotypy.
Both the criticism and the film attempt to convince the audience that the Jews are guilty and the
court will pronounce judgment on them through the anti Semitic ideology with its stereotypy,
which takes two forms. First, there is a tendency to over generalize a single trait of the Jews in
both Mimicry and Jud SГјss. Second, the criticism and the film reveal a stereotyped negative image
of the group as a whole, as if to know one is to know all, since they are all alike.
Mimicry and Jud SГјss instill the initial guilt and cunning of Jews in audience. Goebbels

techniques the imperative sentences to show that the Jews are devilish and they will receive a

Where does aluminum come from; how is it made, discuss the history of aluminum and how it
compares to other material. When did the use or application of aluminum become popular? Explain
the circumstances or preceding events associated with popularity. Aluminum is made from
extracting aluminum oxide from bauxite. Traces of aluminum have been found as far back as 5300
BC, in ancient Persia strongest clay cooking vessels. In the early 1800s Sir Humphrey Davy was the
first to establish its existence, and name it. Around ten years later a French scientist found red clay
that contained large amounts of aluminum, which was called Bauxite. Aluminum never occurs
naturally in nature; even today no one has ever found pure aluminum. In 1825 a small

43. Model Of Counterproductive Work Behavior
A Stressor Emotion Model of Counterproductive Work Behavior:
Spector and Fox (2002, 2005) developed a model of Counterproductive work Behavior. The central
importance, in this model, is given to emotions as a response to workplace stressors. At the heart of
this model is the connection from the environment to perceptions, to emotions, and then to CWB.
According to Spector and Fox, employees perceive and appraise conditions and events at work. The
perceived stressors induce negative emotions (i.e. anger, anxiety, and depression) and contribute to
Counterproductive work Behavior that can occur immediately and impulsively or at a later time.
Control and personality are two other factors having important role in stressor emotion model
because both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this type of CWB, the employee deliberately hampers the quality and quality of work by not
performing a task which he was capable of performing, and thus negatively affects organizational
efficiency (Hollinger and Clark 1982). So when employees do not perform a task which they can,
they are indulged in production deviance (Spector et. al.2006). This is another serious from of
counterproductive work behavior because an employee who is supposed to facilitate organizational
performance is intentionally creating hurdles in the way of its success.
Sabotage:
Sabotage is another dimension of counterproductive work behavior which is closely linked to the
concept of production deviance. In this act an employee damages the physical assets in the
organization by engaging in seditious activities (Chen and Spector 1992). Defaming your
organization by criticizing it publically and misuse of information and communication technology
against organizational interest also fall under the dimension of sabotage (Weatherbee2010).
Sabotage also produces negative impact on organizations by damaging its productivity good name.
Theoretically both these counterproductive work behaviors are intertwined despite the reality that
productive deviance is a passive and sabotage is an active approach (Spector et

44. Strongest Personal Attribute
I think my strongest personal attribute is that I am hard working. I have always considered
myself to be a hard worker. I always do what I am told to do, especially when I am working.
Whenever my boss asks me to do something, I make sure to do it right away. I never talk back to
my boss or complain about the tasks that are assigned to me. I may not always want to do the
tasks my boss tells me to do, but I do them regardless. When my boss tells me to help my co
workers complete their tasks, I help them even though it is not my job. I am currently a waitress
at a bed and breakfast on the island called Sunset Resort. Whenever my boss asks me to help wash
dishes in the kitchen I get right to work, even though washing dishes is the dishwasher s

45. Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal Bonded...
Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through
patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1)
material removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal
bond and electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and
grinding performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded
grinding wheel, (4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and
carbide. We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and
conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface
science and materials engineering. Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present
different material removal phases, rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical
interaction between abrasivegrains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the
field of micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro
scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other
machining processes, detailed understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other
machining processes cutting mechanism easily. Application of micro EDM to dress the metal
bonded diamondwheels will show how electrical discharge energy is controlled to

46. Comparing Haiti And Haiti
Living on an island with two third world countries; the Dominican Republic and Haiti, I ve seen
firsthand the major differences between both of them. The Dominican Republic has evolved from
a Spanish colony, while Haiti was originally French. Throughout the years, Haiti has become
known for suffering from poverty, misery, and distress. Pauperism has become a huge issue for
the Haitians and prosperity of the country as a whole due to a lack of health, education, and social
services. Back in 2014 and 2015, the school I used to attend in the Dominican Republicorganized
trips to orphanages in Haiti. 80 percent of the 32 000 orphans across the 760 orphanages have
parents who want them, but they are not able to support their children. The organized trips were
crucial in forming me as a caring and loving person. Before, I wouldn t have been able to
imagine how heart breaking watching these starving, cheerless children would be. I always
visualized kids as playful, blissful, and joyful creatures. However, looking at the Haitian orphans
I realized how cruel reality can be to people. It was the first time I ve faced such conditions, and I
strongly rejected the fact who there are people in the world that may deserve even a little part of it.

47. Twin Personality Traits
Personality is a combination of people s genetics, forces in their environments, and the life choices
they make. A person s personality is their characteristic thoughts, emotional responses, and
behaviors. While personality traits are patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior that is relatively
consistent over time and across situations. When you get to know some you start to predict how
they are going to react to certain situations. These predications are dispositions (Gazzaniga,
Heatherton, Halpern). There is evidence that personality comes from biological factors, such as
genes, brain structure, and neurochemistry) but environmental factors determine if they prevail.
James Loehlin did a study on twin personalities. He determined that identical twins personalities
are more similar than fraternal twins because they share similar genes. Loehlin also found that
parenting style has little to do with the personality of twins. He discovered this by observing twins
who grew up in separate families (Gazzaniga, Heatherton, Halpern). Temperaments are biologically
based tendencies to feel or act in certain ways. There are three basic characteristics can be
considered temperaments,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

48. Mental Health And Its Effects
Into today s society mental health has become something that is becoming more known to
individuals. Mental health is something that is as serious as a physical illness but it is still feared
and misunderstood by many people including those who are diagnosed with mental illness. There
are many forms of mental illness that include; anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia,
eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and phobias and panic disorders. Many
individuals with mental health seek help from doctors and are usually prescribed different
medications. Dealing with a mental health issue is hard enough as it is because many people
misunderstand them and they carry a stigma with the mental illness that needs to be overcome by
the individual. For those newly diagnosed medications are given to help improve the psychosis,
hallucinations and major depressive disorder with great success, but for many the medication that
is given has a side effect that makes the patient gain large amounts of weight throughout
treatment. Not only are you dealing with stress from being diagnosed with a mental illness and
learning to cope but now you are also given the stress of caring extra weight around and having
people judge you because of your weight gain not knowing what exactly is going on with you and
your body both mentally and physically. This paper is going to focus on research done involving

49. Bias Against The Rom Genocide Analysis
A timeline of bias against the Roma and introduction of the genocide. In 1899 in Bavaria, an
organization was formed that was the pinnacle of targeting the Gypsies ( Gypsies 82). A little
over 20 years later, in 1922, in Baden, Germany began systematically identifying and classifying
the Roma ( Romanies 2240). This is comparable to the first and second stage of Genocide,
classification and symbolization. The Roma were called Gypsies and, as shown in ( Romanies

stopped them from roaming or camping in bands ( Romanies 2240). In Bavaria none were allowed

A common story told in history is one society having a technological advantage over another
society, and imposing their will either through conquest or assimilation. In Mike Resnick s novel
Kirinyaga, the topic of European colonial assimilation is explored through a tale of a group of
Kikuyu settlers on a new planet named Kirinyaga. The people of Kirinyaga experience the
assimilation in three ways through direct control, cultural examples, and technological temptation.
The people of Kirinyaga are only allowed to live on the planet, thanks to the charter established by
Earth governments. This allows the Earth government to exercise a certain level of control over the
inhabitants. Although they do not directly have the ability to shape the ... Show more content on

An experience is a personal involvement or observation of an occurrence by a person. Every day,
various people experience different events of their lives and learn from these many undertakings.
People, however, cannot experience everything, but rather only experience what they undergo.
Nevertheless, for others to distinguish different accomplishments that they cannot be a part of,
many learn from the experiences of others. In the book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, written by
Khaled Hosseini, characters are exposed to life changing events that affect themselves and the ones
around them. In the text, the characters help readers in becoming familiar with the experiences that
they are not accustomed to, as it demonstrates the vast affection people... Show more content on

Firstly, the novel displays the effects poverty has on the characters well being. For example, in
the book, Aziza s ribs [begin] to push through the skin [...] and her complexion [turns] the color of
weak tea. [...] [Furthermore,] Zalmai [lies] around the house, eyes dulled and half closed, or in his
father s lap limp as a rag (Hosseini 272). This exhibits the change in the characters health as poverty
distresses them. As there is an insufficient amount of needs to support the family, the novel shows
that the children begin to become weak and skinny and lose the vitality they had beforehand. After
scarcity, readers view the harsh circumstances poverty brings upon the family with the absence of
necessities. Readers are able to understand the experience of poverty as they grasp on how the
children s well being has altered. In addition, the stress of living in scarcity collapses personal
relationships. For instance, after the fire, Rasheed [is] home almost every day. He [is] fired
from the kebab house [...] because he and a customer [get] in a scuffle [...] [After he is home],
he [finds] fault with Laila, the way she [dresses], the way she [combs] her hair, her yellowing
teeth (Hosseini 271). Ultimately, Rasheed presents the opportunity to receive money for the
family, but fails to work in a mannerly way. Once Rasheed is home, he believes Laila is
unkempt. This shows an unfair conviction because they cannot afford to maintain a pleasant
appearance, and it is his fault they cannot pay for things because he is the only one that can
obtain a job, as women cannot work. This shows an effect on personal connections as readers are
able to observe an experience of a personal relationship weakening because of poverty and
Rasheed s unfair thoughts due to lack of money. Overall, the book displays the experience of being
affected by poverty through the change of the characters health and the breakdown of

Act Utilitarianism was created by Jeremy Benthem, the basic ideology being (no situation is
perfect..) to generate the greatest good for the greatest number. The Hedonistic Calculus is used
by utilitarian s to calculate how much happiness it will generate by making a certain decision. If
Spiderman is an act utilitarian he will save the kids because their lives far out way Mary Janes
and more happiness will be generated. If Spiderman is a rule utilitarian he must calculate the
quality rather than the quantity. By saving Mary Jane, Spiderman will generate the greatest quality
for himself. Rule utilitarianism clearly presents many disadvantages, it also clearly portrays a
sense of selfishness by an individual making decisions using rule utilitarianism. Therefore it should
be considered wrong due to an individual making decisions that will make him happier and
