The Tech Retail Association Is A Professional Organization...
The Tech Retail Association is a professional organization at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.
Membership to the organization is exclusive to students either majoring or minoring in Retail
Management. While membership is open to both males and females, the group is largely comprised of
college aged (18 to 23 years of age) females. The Retail Management program s faculty is also
included in the membership. The group s purpose is stated as being to prepare individuals who will
make a contribution to the retail industry and to society as a whole through quality education,
research, and service ( TRA , n.d.). Meetings are held approximately once a month. Each meeting aims
to address different topics pertaining to the retail industry. Examples of meeting topics include
professionalism, industry innovation, entrepreneurship, interviewing tips, and community service.
Each year, the organization strives to bring in a speaker who is... and has experienced retail industry.
In searching for a speaker, the group looks for someone whom the students will find to be both
relatable and inspiring. The reason for this being that the majority of the members of this organization
are at a highly impressionable age. By hearing success stories from industry pioneers, they will
hopefully be encouraged to pursue their life s ambitions. The speaker whom the group has chosen for
their event is Sara Blakely whom is represented by Speakers.com.. Ms. Blakely is the creator and
founder of SPANX.

Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection...
Darwin collected and described thousands of animals and plants. In South America he observed the
adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the
temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South
America rather than the corresponding species of the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in the
grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits; these
rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America. Moreover,
the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with extant (i.e.
currently living) plants and animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora and
fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more closely
resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in different strata
were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of many species living
at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed catastrophism and was also held by
many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and subsequently Lyell held that geological
processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged periods of time (millions of years) these can
lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an age for the earth radically different from the
6,000 years of the biblical creationists.
Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were
inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who had
proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to acquired
characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including the
geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their fossil
precursors. They postulated that long term environmental changes including movement of land

Presidency And The Media Essay
Presidency: The Strategies of the Media Richard Elliot Neustadt, a profound political scientist and
advisor to many presidents, has often argued over the years that presidential power is probably best
understood as the power to persuade. Over the years, the presidency has evolved from what our
Founder s had to endure and has now turned into an obsession with news media. The President of the
United States is the most powerful being in our country with the ability to control what Americans can
and cannot know for better or worse. The presidency and news media have a more complicated
relationship than what others might say. There are times where the president is more than willing to
cooperate with the news, but there is also an equal amount of time where the presidency and the press
are at odds. In our country s lifetime of presidents, there have been numerous attempts and
successions to control the flow of information by using the media in a strategic manner such as being

The Watergate Scandal deals with Richard Nixon being accused of many instances where he abused
his power as President of the United States and his attempt to cover up his involvement in the break in
at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex. Nixon used dirty
tricks to ensure his chances of being reelected for a second term such as bugging the offices of
political opponents, the order of harassment of activist groups and political figures. During the
unraveling of the truth, the media proceeded to cover the Watergate break in and Nixon along with his
supporters accused the media of making wild accusations. Nixon strongly underestimated the
competitive nature of the news media and his outcry guaranteed widespread media coverage of his

Elizabeth s Presentation Of Mr. Wickham In Pride And...
left to deal with after she receives Mr. Darcy s letter that explains why he and Mr. Wickham were not
left on good terms. In this quote, Elizabeth realizes that her feelings towards Mr. Wickham has
prevented her from seeing what he was really like. This conflict exposes Mr. Wickham for not being
the kind man that everyone saw him as. It also reveals that Elizabeth s prejudice towards Mr. Darcy
kept her from seeing that there was another side to the story. Making Mr. Darcy sound like the one at
fault for all of Mr. Wickham s troubles. Elizabeth also realizes that she may not be the best judgement
of character that she once that herself as. She now knows that she misjudged Mr. Darcy and that he s

All of the characters have similar traits that are towards the theme pride or prejudice and many have
more aspects than others but either way their attributes cannot be ignored. Elizabeth and Jane Bennet
for example, show plenty of their similarities with their prideful actions, but it is Elizabeth who is
being portrayed as the more prejudice one. This shows how she thinks of Mr. Darcy in the beginning
of the novel. At the ball, Mr.Darcy was being unexplainably rude towards dancing with the woman
there, preferably Elizabeth herself. [...] of this she was perfectly unaware; to her he was only the man
who made himself agreeable nowhere; and who had not thought her handsome enough to dance with.
(Austen 18). As for Mr.Darcy he seems to have a preconception with every word that comes out of his
mouth. Even when he confesses his love to Elizabeth he tells her he did not want to confess his love
because he was to good for her. In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feeling will not be
repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire you and love you. (Austen 227). He

The Importance Of Income Inequality
Another perception to view income inequality with is the exchange and choice perspective. When
resources are exchanged, as the core process in social life with the desire to maximize benefits and
minimize costs, a basic belief that social relationships occur in a social marketplace in which people
give in order to get in the basis for the social exchange theory (Hutchison, 2015).
The study of attitudes toward economic inequality can be characterized as a study of whether the glass
is half full or half empty. Do the poor and the middle class opposes economic inequality and support
redistribution, as we would expect them to if they were acting in their economic self interest? Or do
the poor and the middle class act against their economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The widening gap between the rich and the poor is fueling a class based social disconnect that is
dividing this country. Economic inequality is driving everything from the actions of our political
representatives to education to the legal system to the workforce and even the dynamics of families.
Unfortunately, those that have money are in power and dictate the fate of those that don t. As Lane
Kenworthy and many others have concluded policy influences attitudes more than the other way
around (2011). Kenworthy went on to explain the general population tends to bolster strategies they
see to be compelling. Once substantial projects get set up, they fabricate a voting demographic and get
to be prominent among the American community. As social workers we must be dedicated to
advocating for policies and get effective programs enacted that can redistribute wealth and fix income
inequalities so that the poor and the middle class no longer have to

The Problem Of Coping Skills
(Hamar, Coberley, Pope, Rula, 2013). Some individuals will respond and be able to find ways that are
healthy avenues to deal with any life stressor simple by listening to a counselor who is able to talk
about coping skills.
All of the individuals who are listed to include nurses, doctors, nutritionist, and counselors are ideal
persons to consider when deciding the planning phase of this plan. The legal standpoints are also
something that has to be considered. One example is any information that is gathered from the
participants must be kept with the utmost confidentiality, and only shared with the individuals who are
determined to need to know the information. Another consideration is the financial aspect. A large
portion of the rural elderly live on a fixed income and may not be able to participate if the fees charge
are very large (Sanghani et al., 2010). All of these things need to be considered and this plan will need
to be planned in a way that will best the serve the individuals involved to best serve these individuals.
Communication
All of these individuals who are being considered to help with this plan should be good
communicators, so as to help determine what avenues that they are willing to offer and when the
particular service would be available. All members of this plan will need to be willing to considered
communication with the participants as well as the team members in order for this plan to be a
success. The members involved will need to be willing to

Counter Fire Task Force Mission Report
I have been here in this Battalion for just under eleven months now; the main mission that the
Battalion plays is to support the Counter Fire Task Force if North Korea were ever to attack. Within
the Battalion there are three Batteries, two firing Batteries with M270 Multi Launch Rocket Systems
(MLRS) assigned, a Headquarter and Headquarters Battery and a Forward Support Company (FSC).
As I said in the introduction, I am only over here for one year; this means that every Soldier within the
Battalion and the Brigade (echelon above Battalion) are only in position for one year. The Battalion
Commander and Sergeant Major are in position for two years due to the nature of importance of the
positions they hold within the Organization. Typically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently there is an incentive option to encourage Soldiers to extend for an additional year in Korea;
this is known as the Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP) Option, where you get an additional three
hundred dollars a month from the moment you sign the documents to extend until you leave the
country. Although this is a nice option to have, many Soldiers and leaders still choose not to stay any
longer than their one year obligation. As I see it the only way to get Soldiers and leaders to stay is to
make them stay. To develop a proper way ahead and remain flexible to change as needed throughout
the process, Kotter s eight step approach to change would allow for a good strategy rather than plan to
allow for the Army to accomplish this mission. The first step on Kotter s approach is to develop a
sense of urgency; just like most things in life, if you re not being pushed by someone of something to
accomplish a task than you will wait and it may not get done to standard or at all. Step one, I would
decide on a date that we would start implementing the normal accompanied tour and send out a
MILPER message across the entire force to all active duty personnel s email. I would stress that we
are transitioning back to the longer tour to enhance readiness and detour any aggressions from North
Korea. With Soldiers returning with their families, there would a large need of construction of support
facilities for these families; currently there are no schools on the instillation that I am assigned. We
could make this campaign a partnership with the local community and provide jobs and boost the local

Audience s Form The Video

The intended audience s form the video is intended for healthcare professionals, family members and
friends who care for dementia patients. Languagestyle used was appropriates for the target group. It
was simple, clear, without any medical terminology for the family members and friends who don t
understand diseases. The style of presentation , was good and effective as its engages its audience and
also attract their attention. The nature of the video makes it easy for the target group to understand
both the verbal and the non verbal communication skills used by Naomi Feli, the facial expression,
touch, body posture, talking, and the singing and how Gladys responded to all actions taken and goes
on the explain in details every action taken and its results.
The information in the video was of a quality , the language and style of the presentation was also
appropriate. According to Webb 2011, for one to establish good communication skills, one needs to
consider self awareness, pay attention for feedback and encourage response. This was demonstrated
clearly in the video. Music is the most influential intercession for the delivery of information to people
with dementia once the brain is damaged and they lose their verbal communication (Carson,
Vanderhorst and koenig, 2016).
For Naomi to use gospel music to get Gladys s attention goes to show that Naomi was aware of

Symbolism In Secret Window, Secret Garden By Stephen King
In the gothic novella, Secret Window, Secret Garden, by Stephen King, the author uses mirrors as
symbols to distinguish between reality and the imaginary. Whenever King references mirrors, Mort
struggles with grasping actuality, thus Mort creates his own reality that deteriorates his mental state
and ultimately his life. For instance, Mort believes that shooter is in his house, yet ironically Mort was
not Shooter he was afraid of , but rather he was afraid of finding nothing , because internally, Mort
knows that Shooters existence is simply an illusion (391). As Mort goes around the house looking for
Shooter, he approaches the bathroom and looks into the mirror and realizes that the reflection of the

How Did Nixon s Use Of Logical Fallacies
Nixon used several logical fallacies in his 1952 Checkers Speech when addressing the issue of funding
and how it was received. He attempted to use distraction (Red Herring fallacy) when discussing
communism. This was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the fear of communist parties of that time
and provided distraction from the illegal funding he had received. Nixon further uses logical fallacies
in his speech, including the use of begging the question and appears in the manner of circular logic.
This is shown in statement Now, was that wrong? And let me say that it was wrong. I m saying,
incidentally, that it was wrong and not just illegal. Because it isn t a question of whether it was legal or
illegal, that isn t enough. The question is, was it morally wrong? This is an attempt to bring into

the issue of funding and chose to focus on crooks and the communists, his commitment to fight for

Safe Water with Adequate Sanitation
1 Introduction
Accessing safe water with adequate sanitation has been a crucial problem for billions of people around
the world (1). Most of them are in the developing countries and this problem seems to increase in the
following years (2). One of the renewable sources of freshwater which has sufficient sanitation is
rainfall. Globally precipitation generates supply of 40000 to 45000 km3 per year (3). However, there
is not a uniform rainfall for different areas of the world. Developed countries are mostly located in the
temperate or tepid latitudes, hence they have more precipitation. On the other hand, developing
countries have mostly arid and semi arid climates which they lack in the sufficient rainfall. Imbalance
between water needs and its resources has been a crucial issue for these countries. It has been
expected that by the year 2025, 34 countries most of them developing nations will experience water
scarcity (2) (3). This situation is more critical in the North Africa and in the Middle East (4).
In addition to the scarcity of fresh water which is a major concern, nowadays for both developed and
developing countries, the quality of water has been deteriorated due to the pollution, particularly in the
developing nations. The major causes of the contaminated water resources are the inadequate
wastewater treatment, non optimized landfill construction, leaking from sewage systems, and
unauthorized agricultural, municipal and industrial wastewater discharge into aquatic

The British s Involvement During The 1947-1948 War Of...
Chenika Bukes
Over 20,000 people were murdered during the 1947 1948 War of Independence. The British s
involvement in the conflict during the 1910 s 1940 s is responsible for those deaths through a narrative
of events in the upcoming years to the war. The British fuelled the Arab Israeli conflict by
antagonising the Palestinian Arabs, by sentencing the Jewish people to death and by beginning the
1947 1948 Mandatory Palestine war of independence. The Arab Israeli conflict roughly began with
minor disagreements and altercations since the late 19th century up until present day. Whenever the
British got involved in the conflict, something seemed to go wrong. The Arabs were antagonised by
the British when the McMahon agreement was not seen through. The White paper, commissioned by
the British, created a death sentence for the Jewish people Dr.Weizmann (1939, June), and when the
British withdrew from the conflict a series of events led to the 1947 1948 war of independence.
The McMahon Agreement was constituted on the 24th of October 1915 between the Meccans and the
British. Upon the rise of Arab nationalism, the Arabs (Meccans) pursued independence from the
Ottoman Empire. Amir Abdullah, son of Hussein Bin Ali the Sharif of Mecca, visited the British
general consul in Egypt in February of 1914. His incentive was to verify that the British will recognise
Arab independence if they support the British in war with purpose to abdicate the Ottoman Turks.
Then in 1917 the

Causes Of Gun Violence In America
What is the problem? Throughout the years, the United States has experienced many different societal
problems. All of the problems have the same dilemma being no one can agree on what the actual cause
of these problems are so they don t know where to begin on fixing them. Some of these problems
include equality between men and women, environmental protection, political freedoms and so many
more things. A very big issue right now is the amount of gun violence that takes place in our Country
every day. It may sound too obvious that the cause of violence is the lack of control on guns, but it is
actually much more extensive and the cause has many parts to it.
Gun violence has always been an issue in the United States. The public started to notice the problem
in 2007 when there was one of the most known school shootings at Virginia Tech. Caitlin Hammaren
was just a normal sophomore at Virginia Tech and on April 16, 2007 what seemed as just a normal day
of class her life had been taken away from her (Why gun control is important) After that, it again
became a hot topic in 2012, when there was another school shooting at Sandy Hook elementary
school. This shooting seemed to really hit a lot of people because many young children had been
killed and injured. These were just two of the most known school shootings. There were 64 school
shootings in 2015, according to a dedicated campaign group set up in the wake of the Sandy Hook

Raphael Semmes
Confederate rear admiral Raphael Semmes left an everlasting endowment as captain of the CSS

he remained calm and collective and pushed through. Although his life was threatened many times
during his time serving in the military from either being shot at or being drowned to death after
sinking a ship, he always fought no matter what the circumstances were.
Raphael Semmes was born in Charles County, Maryland on September 27, 1809. At the age of

His ship was hit, causing it to sink. 39 members of the crew lost their lives, Semmes hardly escaped

sent him back to duty. After the war Semmes moved to Mobile Alabama where he practiced law and
wrote Service Afloat and Ashore During the Mexican War, a book about his war experiences. In 1855
he was promoted to the Commander of the U.S. Navy. When Alabama seceded from the Union,
Semmes was sent north by President Jefferson Davis on a secret mission to get military supplies for
the Confederacy from the munitions brokers there. (Encyclopedia of Alabama) After Semmes sunk his
ship he was upset that almost all his men died except him this is a challenge that Semmes pushed
through and got back on his feet and resumed his duty back in the navy after he went to court and they
proved it wasn t his fault.
In 1861 Semmes resigned his commission in the U.S. Navy to work for the Confederate government
in Montgomery. The confederate Navy sent him north to buy ships and military supplies and to find
skilled mechanics to bring back. Semmes was then given command of the ship Habana which was a

Compare Reduced Instruction Set Computer (CISC And Cisc
Compare and contrast reduced instruction set computer (RISC) with the complex Instruction set
computer(CISC) [20]
Definitions:
(CISC) The term CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer or Computing) refers to computers
designed with a full set of computer instructions that were intended to provide needed capabilities in
the most efficient way. Later, it was discovered that, by reducing the full set to only the most
frequently used instructions, the computer would get more work done in a shorter amount of time for
most applications. Since this was called reduced instruction set computing (RISC), there was now a
need to have something to call full set instruction computers thus, the term CISC.

Since each instruction type that a computer must perform requires additional transistors and circuitry,
a larger list or set of computer instructions tends to make the microprocessor more complicated and

Most RISC designs use uniform instruction length for almost all instructions, and employ strictly
separate load/store instructions.
Throughout the years various suggestions have been made regarding a precise definition of RISC, but
the general concept is that of a system that uses a really small, highly optimized set of instructions,
rather than a more versatile set of instructions often found in other types of architectures like C.I.S.C,
another common trait is that RISC systems use the load/store architecture, which is where memory is
normally accessed only through certain specific instructions, rather than accessed as part of other

Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely
Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those points, and
the conclusion of your paper. Introduction: As the saying goes, Power tends to corrupt, and absolute
power corrupts absolutely (Marton). A person may by guided by the noblest of ideals and have a cause
as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they have absolute power there cause will fall
apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he exemplifies this ideal as we
follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather his fall from grace towards complete degradation.
Over the progression of the novel Napoleon tries to actualize the dream of the other farm animals as
he works towards the dream of reaping what one sows . In the process, he is put into a leadership
position where he shows, the corrosive effect that power has his morals as the story progresses
displaying how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Main Points: The story begins
with Old Major, who is a respected on the farm, and who had given a speech that stirred the animals
emotions towards the idea of rebellion. He used his power of respect and trust to persuade the others
to pursue the vision in his dream by stating, Nearly the whole of the production of our labor is stolen
from us by human beings. There, comrades is the answer to our problems. It is summed up in a single
word Man (Orwell 5).This dream of reaping what one sows made the animals on the

Albanian language is a treasure of the country. It is the most ancient language in Europe and it belongs
to the group of Indo European language, but with its own branch, and with no similarities to other
languages in the whole world. Many people when they hear me speaking in Albanian, constantly think
it is either Slavic or French. While the Romanian language is also a language that belongs to the group

have no similarities between each other at all.
Regarding the religion, Albania is one of the countries where the people of different religions live in

Systems Theory, Ecological Theory And Sociological...
It goes without saying that police officers will respond to an unimaginable amount of domestic
violence investigations during their career. Sadly, these investigations have been found to account for
22% of in the line of duty deaths (National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 2016). Lesson
1 of this course has introduced me to various theories to explain the causes of domestic violence,
which in turn has expanded on my perception of these investigations. I have chosen to focus on the
following theories: systems theory, ecological theory and exchange theory.
All the above noted theories are sociological perspectives. Proponents of sociological theories of
family violence believe that family violence is a normal part of family life (Gelles Straus, 1979).
Specifically, systems theory proposes that domestic/family violence is normal rather than abnormal.
Systems theory suggests that the cycle of violence is a result of cause effect. Whether or not the
violence continues is directly related to the feedback from the violence. Positive feedback increases
the likelihood of future violence, whereas negative feedback reduces the likelihood of violence
(Straus, 1973).
Ecological theory is similar to systems theory, in that it focuses on interrelated networks that either
influence or discourage violent behavior. Donald Dutton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exchange theorists identify three points of the cause of violence; 1. Violence occurs when the rewards
outweigh costs, 2. A lack of social controls within the family decrease the potential costs, thereby
increasing violence, 3. Inequality within family and social structures reduce the costs and thereby
increase the rewards of using violence (Gelles, 1983). Proponents of this theory believe that to reduce
family violence the rewards must be decreased, and the costs must be

Reasons To Die In A Zombie Apocalypse
In a zombie apocalypse, the first thing I would do is find a shelter that can suit my needs and protect
me from the weather/attacks/raids/zombies. If you live in a crowded area first hide then in the next
few days go to your hideout and if you live in a less crowded area go to your hideout as soon as
possible. If you survive the first day then your chances of survival has been greatly enhanced. When
the zombies first came the reason why most people died on the first day was because they were in the
open. If you find yourself in an open area then find a hiding place as soon as possible or leave very
quickly. This will give you time and time is going to be your friend in a zombie apocalypse. The next
thing you need to do is think about your situation.

Bullying is at an all time high, as a result of being bullied, many depressed adolescents, and teens have
committed suicide as a way to escape. Across all populations, genders, and race at some point in
everyone s life they have been the subject of bullying and or depression. It is obvious that everyone is
susceptible to the highs and lows of depression no matter their social status or age.
Conclusion
In this television show, Hannah realized she needed to seek professional help, at least once. She
decided to seek help from her guidance counselor, but he was not helpful to her, and very quickly
began victim blaming. As counselors, it is pertinent to help clients who are depressed and suicidal as
we must be aware of the signs. It is essential not to minimize our client s feelings and emotions. These
issues of bullying, depression, and suicide amongst our youth are too important to be ignored. As a
future counselor, I play a unique role in saving our youth, and advocating for those seeking
professional help.

With having only one of The Four Ps, (the place), Juice Guys had to come up with a marketing plan to

to sell fresh juices and fruit smoothies; however, they needed to know if the consumers wanted more
than just those products. Also, they needed to find a way to promote their new products and make their
prices economically feasible for the consumers in this new place; which was Boston. In order to
accomplish this, they needed consumers to let them know what they thought was the ultimate juice

Relationship Between Media And Social Networks
Whether you want to or not, it is essential to engage in relationship marketing now. It is important to
build relationships with people who are actively talking about your niche and looking for answers to
their problems. While many people are still searching for answers through the search engines, most
people are hanging out in forums and on social networks. If you can create relationships with the right
people, then your business has a much higher chance of being successful.
The problem is that most of us don t have a lot of time to market on both forums and social networks,
so it is important to find the most effective place to actively participate and build relationships. Which
one is right for you? There are a few things to consider.
You Have To Enjoy Using The Platform
Whether you choose to do marketing through forums or social networks, it is important that you enjoy
the atmosphere and the way you interact with others. If you don t, then you will not willingly devote
your time to interacting and building relationships on that platform, and the people you interact with
will feel as though they are being marketed to, which is not what relationship marketing is all about.
For instance, social networking requires you to not only interact with your stuff, but also interact with
other people s stuff a lot. If you don t really enjoy commenting on relevant posts, interacting with
relevant people, or promoting other people s relevant content, then you may find a

Of the nearly nine million people incarcerated worldwide, the United States houses over two million
inmates in its federal, state, and local facilities. While the goal of the judicial system is to enforce the
law and protect the people, it comes at a price to taxpaying citizens at approximately thirty nine billion
dollars annually. The purpose of this research is to clearly define the required expenditures of the
prison system, identify anomalies in court sentencing at the federal, state and local levels, and pinpoint
cost savings to reduce the financial burden to tax paying citizens.
The United States has the highest rate of imprisonment in the world and it has a direct effect on its
taxpaying citizens at nearly 39 billion dollars annually. There are six major categories of incarceration:
sexual assault, murder, robbery, assault, burglary, and drugs and of the nearly 2.3 million people in
American jails, about approximately half, were jailed for drug related charges. According to the
Department of Justice, that number has only dipped below fifty percent once in the last decade back in

Theme Of Isolation In The Asylum
In various works of literature, characters that are isolated serve to convey various meanings and
illustrate various arguments. Throughout the novel The Asylum, the author John Harwood places
characters in contexts of isolation to demonstrate a change in their thoughts, actions, and emotions.
The contextual isolation of Georgina Ferrars and Rosina Wentworth exemplify the ways that their
notions change and their feelings build with exposure to isolation. When both protagonists experience
forms of isolation, they contemplate and re evaluate their actions and decisions, which in turn lends
themselves to a change in their various perceptions and emotions.
Georgina Ferrars finds herself in isolated contexts throughout the novel, developing her thoughts and
emotions. Firstly, during the course of time she spends at the Tregannon House, Georgina builds a
strong relationship with Frederic Mordaunt, the doctor s secretary. When Mr. Mordaunt leaves the
asylum at once and returns one day, Georgina can t handle the hate she built for him over those
months. Once Mordaunt leaves the conversation, Georgina remained on the bench, shaking with
emotion and realising, as [her] anger subsided, how foolishly [she] had behaved (Harwood, 98). As
Georgina is exposed to this important moment of isolation, she registers that Frederic has inner
feelings for her, and brings back their relationship. After being left alone for a few moments, Georgina
contemplates her actions and immediately regrets

Raccoon control is the removal and prevention of the nuisance raccoon population in America.
Raccoon control is a task that only should be handled by an expert. Laws pertaining to this industry
differ state to state, some mandating extermination and others prohibiting it. In most cases, raccoon

Trinity Monistic
Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a common phrase in the Christian faith. Who are these people and what
do they represent? These three people are separate people, but represent one God. The concept of the
Trinity creates a lot of debate, because some skeptics think that the Trinity is either Monistic or Pagan.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate beings that represent one God, and this can be seen
in different passages in the Bible.
Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? The Trinity is not monistic because God does not
reveal himself in three different forms. The Trinity is three co existing eternal persons who exist as
one God. The Trinity is also not three separate Gods. The Father is the godhead of the Trinity ... Show

An example of this trend takes place in the book of Isaiah. Jesus states I AM several times in the
chapter. Jesus is making a strong statement that he is God. God is the Trinity, and Jesus is one of the

Father. Jesus is making it known that he is the Son of the Father, and therefore, equal to God. The only
way Jesus could be God is if he is the Son of the Father. This passage shows Jesus place in the Trinity.
The most concrete example of Jesus being one with God takes place in John 10:33. Jesus states I and
the Father are one where Jesus is very clearly defining himself as God. Jesus is God along with the
Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus proves he is a part of the Trinity by clearly stating that he is one with

The Breakdown Of The Titanic Disaster
Titanic Imagine going on what is supposed to be a magnificent vacation, but turns out to be a
horrendous disaster. The titanic was the biggest man made ship and was supposed to be an unsinkable

spring of 1911. There was peace and the world had an even tenor to its way. Nothing was revealed the

was the event that not only made the world rub it s eyes and awake but woke it with a start keeping it

Essay about Hollywood s Take on the Civil War
The film, Gone with the Wind became a cultural phenomenon after its release in 1939. The Civil War
based film follows the storyline of Scarlett O Hara. The lead heroine is dealt with the hardships of
love as well as the destruction of her town. Set in the South, the movie stresses the community s
devotion to the confederacy. After its box office success, many historians believed that the film had a
strong influence on America s perception of the Civil War. That influence being a backing attitude
towards the Lost Cause. The term Lost Cause refers to the white southerners admirable view towards
the defeated confederacy. In Gone with the Wind, this idea was expressed in several scenes. For

whites need to stay in power. With a focus on the Lost Cause, Birth of a Nation put a favorable stance
on the South s ideologies. One of those ideologies being white superiority. When Birth of a Nation
was released, the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People ( NAACP) panned the
film s disregard of civil rights. As a result, the organization staged a massive protest at an opening of

Eastwood Hero, And Unforgiven
A person s house is often reflective of who they are as a person. It gives insight into their personality,
values, fears, among others. Armando J. Prats, in his article Back From the Sunset: The Western, the
Eastwood Hero, and Unforgiven, analyzes the character of William Munny, and how much of him is
grounded in myth and how much in history. Unforgiven uses symbols to discreetly give its audience
insight into its characters and their motives. In particular, Unforgiven uses homes as symbols for Will
Munny, Ned Logan, and Little Bill s true character. Understanding how the houses reflect the
characters of Unforgiven supports and strengthens Prats argument that Will Munny is more than who
he seems at the surface.

The Straight Stanza And The Tone Of The Speaker Essay
The turning point happens in the fourth stanza and the tone of the speaker changes. In first three

Crime Social Policy
Crime Data and Social Policy
At the beginning of the second chapter, it is described how the statistics of a crime provide a summary
of the whole criminal activity. An accurate statistical picture of a crime benefits the creation of a social
policy. In a national level, the collection of crime statistics come from two major sources, Uniform
Crime Reporting (UCR) Program and National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). The Uniform
Crime Reporting (UCR) Program produces an annual overview of major crime in the United States. It
is also known as the UCR/NIBRS Program. On the other hand, the National Crime Victimization
Survey (NCVS) of the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS): U.S. Department of justice agency
responsible for the collection of criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This survey is based up on victim self reports rather the police reports. It is also designed to estimate
the occurrence of all crimes, whether it was reported or not. The NCVS system started functioning in
the year of 1972. The UCR/NIBRS and NCVS differ in that the UCR/NIBRS Programs make use of
data obtained by citizens reports of crime made to enforcement agencies, while the NCVS utilizes
survey data. A similarity between these two is that they both contain data their creators think is
appropriate.
Special Categories of Crime
The crime typology is a classification used to study and describe of criminal behavior such as legal
category, offender motivation, victim behavior, and characteristics of individual offenders. Special
categories of crime include: crimes against women, crime against the elderly, hate crime, corporate
and white collar crime, organized crime, gun crime, drug crime, high technology and computer crime,
terrorism (domestic international, cyber) and crime in international context: unlawful activities that
occur across national boundaries such as human trafficking and money

  • 3. Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection... Darwin collected and described thousands of animals and plants. In South America he observed the adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South America rather than the corresponding species of the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in the grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits; these rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America. Moreover, the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with extant (i.e. currently living) plants and animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora and fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more closely resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in different strata were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of many species living at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed catastrophism and was also held by many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and subsequently Lyell held that geological processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged periods of time (millions of years) these can lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an age for the earth radically different from the 6,000 years of the biblical creationists. Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who had proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to acquired characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including the geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their fossil precursors. They postulated that long term environmental changes including movement of land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Presidency And The Media Essay Presidency: The Strategies of the Media Richard Elliot Neustadt, a profound political scientist and advisor to many presidents, has often argued over the years that presidential power is probably best understood as the power to persuade. Over the years, the presidency has evolved from what our Founder s had to endure and has now turned into an obsession with news media. The President of the United States is the most powerful being in our country with the ability to control what Americans can and cannot know for better or worse. The presidency and news media have a more complicated relationship than what others might say. There are times where the president is more than willing to cooperate with the news, but there is also an equal amount of time where the presidency and the press are at odds. In our country s lifetime of presidents, there have been numerous attempts and successions to control the flow of information by using the media in a strategic manner such as being able to ... In this quote, Elizabeth realizes that her feelings towards Mr. Wickham has prevented her from seeing what he was really like. This conflict exposes Mr. Wickham for not being the kind man that everyone saw him as. It also reveals that Elizabeth s prejudice towards Mr. Darcy kept her from seeing that there was another side to the story. Making Mr. Darcy sound like the one at fault for all of Mr. Wickham s troubles. Elizabeth also realizes that she may not be the best judgement of character that she once that herself as. All of the characters have similar traits that are towards the theme pride or prejudice and many have more aspects than others but either way their attributes cannot be ignored. Elizabeth and Jane Bennet for example, show plenty of their similarities with their prideful actions, but it is Elizabeth who is being portrayed as the more prejudice one. This shows how she thinks of Mr. Darcy in the beginning of the novel. At the ball, Mr.Darcy was being unexplainably rude towards dancing with the woman there, preferably Elizabeth herself. [...] of this she was perfectly unaware; to her he was only the man who made himself agreeable nowhere; and who had not thought her handsome enough to dance with. (Austen 18). As for Mr.Darcy he seems to have a preconception with every word that comes out of his mouth. Even when he confesses his love to Elizabeth he tells her he did not want to confess his love because he was to good for her. In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feeling will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire you and love you. (Austen 227). The study of attitudes toward economic inequality can be characterized as a study of whether the glass is half full or half empty. The widening gap between the rich and the poor is fueling a class based social disconnect that is dividing this country. As Lane Kenworthy and many others have concluded policy influences attitudes more than the other way around (2011). All of the individuals who are listed to include nurses, doctors, nutritionist, and counselors are ideal persons to consider when deciding the planning phase of this plan. The legal standpoints are also something that has to be considered. One example is any information that is gathered from the participants must be kept with the utmost confidentiality, and only shared with the individuals who are determined to need to know the information. Another consideration is the financial aspect. Within the Battalion there are three Batteries, two firing Batteries with M270 Multi Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) assigned, a Headquarter and Headquarters Battery and a Forward Support Company (FSC). As I said in the introduction, I am only over here for one year; this means that every Soldier within the Battalion and the Brigade (echelon above Battalion) are only in position for one year. Currently there is an incentive option to encourage Soldiers to extend for an additional year in Korea; this is known as the Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP) Option, where you get an additional three hundred dollars a month from the moment you sign the documents to extend until you leave the country. Although this is a nice option to have, many Soldiers and leaders still choose not to stay any longer than their one year obligation. As I see it the only way to get Soldiers and leaders to stay is to make them stay. To develop a proper way ahead and remain flexible to change as needed throughout the process, Kotter s eight step approach to change would allow for a good strategy rather than plan to allow for the Army to accomplish this mission. The first step on Kotter s approach is to develop a sense of urgency; just like most things in life, if you re not being pushed by someone of something to accomplish a task than you will wait and it may not get done to standard or at all. Step one, I would decide on a date that we would start implementing the normal accompanied tour and send out a MILPER message across the entire force to all active duty personnel s email. I would stress that we are transitioning back to the longer tour to enhance readiness and detour any aggressions from North Korea. With Soldiers returning with their families, there would a large need of construction of support facilities for these families; currently there are no schools on the instillation that I am assigned. The information in the video was of a quality , the language and style of the presentation was also appropriate. According to Webb 2011, for one to establish good communication skills, one needs to consider self awareness, pay attention for feedback and encourage response. This was demonstrated clearly in the video. Music is the most influential intercession for the delivery of information to people with dementia once the brain is damaged and they lose their verbal communication (Carson, Vanderhorst and koenig, 2016). For instance, Mort believes that shooter is in his house, yet ironically Mort was not Shooter he was afraid of , but rather he was afraid of finding nothing , because internally, Mort knows that Shooters existence is simply an illusion (391). He attempted to use distraction (Red Herring fallacy) when discussing communism. This was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the fear of communist parties of that time and provided distraction from the illegal funding he had received. Nixon further uses logical fallacies in his speech, including the use of begging the question and appears in the manner of circular logic. This is shown in statement Now, was that wrong? • 14. Safe Water with Adequate Sanitation 1 Introduction Accessing safe water with adequate sanitation has been a crucial problem for billions of people around the world (1). Most of them are in the developing countries and this problem seems to increase in the following years (2). One of the renewable sources of freshwater which has sufficient sanitation is rainfall. Globally precipitation generates supply of 40000 to 45000 km3 per year (3). However, there is not a uniform rainfall for different areas of the world. Developed countries are mostly located in the temperate or tepid latitudes, hence they have more precipitation. On the other hand, developing countries have mostly arid and semi arid climates which they lack in the sufficient rainfall. Imbalance between water needs and its resources has been a crucial issue for these countries. It has been expected that by the year 2025, 34 countries most of them developing nations will experience water scarcity (2) (3). This situation is more critical in the North Africa and in the Middle East (4). In addition to the scarcity of fresh water which is a major concern, nowadays for both developed and developing countries, the quality of water has been deteriorated due to the pollution, particularly in the developing nations. The major causes of the contaminated water resources are the inadequate wastewater treatment, non optimized landfill construction, leaking from sewage systems, and unauthorized agricultural, municipal and industrial wastewater discharge into aquatic ... The British s involvement in the conflict during the 1910 s 1940 s is responsible for those deaths through a narrative of events in the upcoming years to the war. The British fuelled the Arab Israeli conflict by antagonising the Palestinian Arabs, by sentencing the Jewish people to death and by beginning the 1947 1948 Mandatory Palestine war of independence. The Arab Israeli conflict roughly began with minor disagreements and altercations since the late 19th century up until present day. Whenever the British got involved in the conflict, something seemed to go wrong. The Arabs were antagonised by the British when the McMahon agreement was not seen through. The White paper, commissioned by the British, created a death sentence for the Jewish people Dr.Weizmann (1939, June), and when the British withdrew from the conflict a series of events led to the 1947 1948 war of independence. The McMahon Agreement was constituted on the 24th of October 1915 between the Meccans and the British. Upon the rise of Arab nationalism, the Arabs (Meccans) pursued independence from the Ottoman Empire. Amir Abdullah, son of Hussein Bin Ali the Sharif of Mecca, visited the British general consul in Egypt in February of 1914. His incentive was to verify that the British will recognise Arab independence if they support the British in war with purpose to abdicate the Ottoman Turks. Then in 1917 the ... All of the problems have the same dilemma being no one can agree on what the actual cause of these problems are so they don t know where to begin on fixing them. Some of these problems include equality between men and women, environmental protection, political freedoms and so many more things. A very big issue right now is the amount of gun violence that takes place in our Country every day. It may sound too obvious that the cause of violence is the lack of control on guns, but it is actually much more extensive and the cause has many parts to it. Gun violence has always been an issue in the United States. The public started to notice the problem in 2007 when there was one of the most known school shootings at Virginia Tech. Caitlin Hammaren was just a normal sophomore at Virginia Tech and on April 16, 2007 what seemed as just a normal day of class her life had been taken away from her (Why gun control is important) After that, it again became a hot topic in 2012, when there was another school shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school. This shooting seemed to really hit a lot of people because many young children had been killed and injured. These were just two of the most known school shootings. Power Tends To Corrupt And Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely Outline the parts of the introduction to your paper, the main points, the evidence for those points, and the conclusion of your paper. A person may by guided by the noblest of ideals and have a cause as pure as gold or as radiant as the sun, but the moment they have absolute power there cause will fall apart and all will have been for not. In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he exemplifies this ideal as we follow Napoleon and his rise to power, or rather his fall from grace towards complete degradation. It goes without saying that police officers will respond to an unimaginable amount of domestic violence investigations during their career. Sadly, these investigations have been found to account for 22% of in the line of duty deaths (National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 2016). Lesson 1 of this course has introduced me to various theories to explain the causes of domestic violence, which in turn has expanded on my perception of these investigations. I have chosen to focus on the following theories: systems theory, ecological theory and exchange theory. All the above noted theories are sociological perspectives. Proponents of sociological theories of family violence believe that family violence is a normal part of family life (Gelles Straus, 1979). Specifically, systems theory proposes that domestic/family violence is normal rather than abnormal. Systems theory suggests that the cycle of violence is a result of cause effect. Whether or not the violence continues is directly related to the feedback from the violence. Positive feedback increases the likelihood of future violence, whereas negative feedback reduces the likelihood of violence (Straus, 1973). Prats, in his article Back From the Sunset: The Western, the Eastwood Hero, and Unforgiven, analyzes the character of William Munny, and how much of him is grounded in myth and how much in history.
