Macro Level Prejudice
Introduction It has been thoroughly thought over what current topic or issue that people
experience in most environments today, at both a micro and macro level that would be able to
be examined and have come to the decision of looking at the most widely discussed subject,
prejudice. All people are affected by prejudice in one way or another and it can impact on people
s lives depending on what form it has taken. Also to be able to acknowledge that all people can
be prejudices and see this is the first step to overcoming it.. The question that has been decided
upon is that of What types of prejudice do we see commonly today and how do they affect an
individual at a micro and macro level? As this question produces a very broad variety,

The Difficulties of Hearing Loss in Education Essay
The people in the following list all have something in common: Whoopi Goldberg, Pete
Townshend (lead guitarist of The Who), Huey Lewis, Helen Keller, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and
Thomas Edison. If you were unable to guess, all of these people had a hearing loss. In terms of
formal definition, a hearing loss is, a spectrum of disorders causing a disruption or distortion of
auditory information reaching or being processed by the central nervous system. Hearing losses not
only effect adults or the elderly, they are also prevalent among children. As future teachers, we
should understand everything that accompanies a hearing loss considering we may have a few
children with this disability through our careers as educators. To have a better... Show more content

In particular, seventy percent of genetic, congenital, cases have no syndromes. Children are
often diagnosed around twenty months due to this factor. Also, a good amount of genetic
hearing losses, eighty percent to be exact are autosomal recessive. This means that the parents
do not have a hearing loss, but they are carriers. This gives physicians less information that
would alert them of an infantile hearing loss. During the elementary years, children with this
loss can encounter a variety of obstacles. One big obstacle can occur with the development of
reading skills. Since reading and reading comprehension is so important for life this can be a
huge setback if it is not met with intensive intervention. According to research, the median
reading level for high school graduates with hearing loss falls between fourth and fifth grade. If
a child with a loss is able to begin their school years already knowing the alphabet, they will have
a much higher chance of being a grade level reader. Knowing the alphabet early on in life is able
to increase the phonological awareness that the child has. Their phonological awareness can
predict their future reading abilities. Children who are deaf or hard of hearing are known to have
troubles when it comes to their social lives especially with their hearing peers. According to Anita,
Jones, and Luckner, Individuals who lack social skills are often rejected by others and are at risk
for developing mental health problems.

Evolution Of Baseball Research Paper
The Baseball World Filled with Money
Baseball has been part of American history for well over 150 years now. It is considered to be
America s pastime, meaning it is what people loved to do in their off time back in the late 1800s
and early 1900s. Baseball was invented by Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York in 1839.
Back then baseball was much different than today. Different rules, balls, and equipment than in
today s age. As baseball developed things changed such as the rules and equipment. Better
equipment was put into place to help enhance the performance of the ball players. Baseball has
become a sport of scouting. More and more scouts come to watch kids play in college and high
school in hopes to find that one player that would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was not going by the proper way to scout players. Other scouts were getting mad he was not
doing this. Billy believed in the statistics. As the 2002 Oakland Athletic team started off strong
with three straight wins in the beginning. As the season started going, the A s started a 20 game
winning streak. Billy was praised for finding these players that were all pulling in the same
direction. Not one player had an ego that would set back the team. Just like Billy, the players were
focused on one thing winning, winning the World Series. Billy lived by this quote, The problem,
wrote James, is that baseball statistics are not pure accomplishments of men against other men,
which is what we are in the habit of seeing them as. They are accomplishments of men in
combination with their circumstances (Lewis 71). Billy just did not focus on the stats rather he
also focused on what the player actually accomplished throughout their years of playing
baseball. This is what made him one of the best general managers in the league at the time. After
the A s did not make it past the first round of the playoffs all of the criticism waiting for the Billy
to fail for the first time started to pour in. Billy simply responded We ll be back. Billy was not
viewed as a real general manager in the beginning, but after he succeeded he gained

In understanding the difference of database system from conventional file processing system such
as spread sheet, the following attributes helps to know more about it.
Primary Key:
The unique key which we give to the table and creates relationship with the foreign keys in the
other tables is known as a primary key. It removes the risk of redundancy and duplication of data.
Foreign Key:
Foreign key is the primary key on the other table. It is used to link the table with one another. It
ensures that the record for such transaction is present in the former or master table. Let us see the
following diagram for better understanding
Figure.1.
In the above table, we can clearly see that Customer ID in the tblTimeSheet is connected to the
Customer ID in the tblcustomer. We can also see the One to many and many to one relationships in
the relationship database tables above.
Normalization:
Normalization is the process of organizing data in the relational database. The database is split into
tables and record the required information in the given field. The benefit of normalization is that it
reduces data redundancy and dependency of data. (Brett Considine, 2008)
Computer database:
With the increasing requirements of the business world, software developers came up with the
computerized database solution which has multiple built. Computer database reduces the
replication of the data by storing the data at a central location so that everyone can access it

The Movie American History X
Recently I watched the movie American History X. Its major subjects are gang violence and
racism, that has been passed on from generation to generation. It also asked questions like, what
were their racist ideas really based on, how did racism effect the community, can racism be
reshaped by actual experiences, and how or why racismto begin with? Racism has been the main
topic in the judicial system, police affairs, and racially divided communities for years but it s
neither disappearing nor growing to this today.
In this movie the main character was a man named Derek. After the death of his father, due to gang
violence, he became a racist to all others but white people. He blamed the lack of jobs and poor
wages on the blacks and immigrants. In an interview he had after the death of his father he
stated that, it s all the blacks fault for all the violence in their neighborhood. He also said that,
they brought all the diseases like AIDS and it s their problem and why did they have to bring it
to the white people. Before he vandalized a store, owned by a Chinese man, with his other racist
friends he told them why they were doing this. He told them that these immigrates come here an
instead of looking for the American dream they come and take advantage of it and by firing those
who worked there before and hiring Mexicans and blacks, that are willing to work at a low wage,
they make more money. So he and his friends need to show them that they indeed don t belong here

Augustine s Doubts About The Consciousness Of Human
Consciousness refers to the relationship and interactions between our mind and its surrounding
environments. Consciousness fades when the normal patterns of waking neural activity in the brain
are replaced by the patterns characteristic of sleep, or when the tissues of the brain are damaged
physically or by intoxicants. We do not have a set explanation has to how brain activity produces
consciousness. It is concluded that consciousness is an elemental component of the universe that
cannot be discussed or analyzed any further by the human race. Doubts about the consciousness of
animals occasionally surfaced even in classical antiquity. Augustine argued that nothing can be
perceived without reason, which is needed to judge and classify sensations,

What Is Criminal Justice Essay
I believe that criminal justice is all about dealing with sustaining the law involving police, lawyers,
courts, and corrections. Criminal Justice in my substantial belief is all about a system that s
brought up by law for bringing the people in society to justice. Criminal Justice is all about bringing
the criminal up and conducting what must be done to uphold justice to the people. Criminal Justice
is distinct from criminal law, which I believe defines the specific behaviors that are forbidden by
and punishable under law. Criminal Justice begins when a crimeis reported to the policeor when a
police officer discovers that a crime has been committed. Criminal Justice also has to do with the
control of criminal behavior. Criminal Justice objective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you think about police officer what do you know about them, are they law enforcement
or criminal justice? Well if you ask me, I believe, in my opinion that a police officer is a person
that focuses on protecting the people and bring forth criminals that break the law. Police officers
are in charge of enforcing laws within their city. If you go to a neighboring city, say like
Chicago, that city has its own police force. Police officers are often charged with the criminals
and detection of crime, protection and assistance of the public. Police officers are normally
sworn with an oath, and have the power to arrest people and detain them for a limited time,
along with other duties and powers. Some police officers may have special duties, for example,
such as law enforcement. The reason why they play apart in law enforcement is because police
officers are those who are empowered by the government to enforce the laws. Police officers play
a certain central role in the law enforcement system, like monitoring criminal activity. Police
officers when they first get their job they have one job that they have to do every day, which is to
serve and protect the citizens of

Rise And Fall Of Nokia Essay
The Rise and fall of Nokia
CASE SYNOPSIS:
Evolution Stages of Nokia Corporation:
1865 1970: Timber and Rubber Era
Initially Nokia was not an electronic manufacture company. In 1865 Nokia started as Timber
Company near the town of Nokia, Finland and then they started second paper mill when they grew
significantly in their business over the period of time. The name Nokia is derived from the river
called Nokianvirta which is in Finland.
Paper was not the essential business style of Nokia. So therefore over the next 40 years Nokia
expanded from large paper mill to working with the rubber, Electricity, Cables and Power

Corona Vs Heineken Comparison
Corona vs. Heineken Which is the more superior beer, Corona or Heineken? I believe Corona is
the better beer due to the fact that Corona has the better taste and I would personally drink corona
over Heineken. I once suffered a killer headache that hurt from the head down one night after a
long day of drinking Heineken out on the lake. Corona is the better beerthan Heineken, for
example, I once purchased a six pack of each brand to meet my hydration needs to prepare
myself for a long, yet fun lake day. After finishing both servings of beverages, I realized that
Corona is the more superior beer because Corona did not leave that bitter after taste and left me
refreshed, resulting in me wishing I had more. I prefer a cold, refreshing beer, so I understand
that any beer with good quality will satisfy a regular drinker more than the usual watery beer such
as Keystone, Coors, or Bud Light. I give praise to both brewing companies, however Corona edges
out Heineken in my book. Corona is the more superior beer due to... Show more content on

Many brewers follow similar recipes, but the ingredients of Corona and Heineken is the second
reason to compare these two beers. Corona and Heineken both have a great high quality taste but
the ingredients differ. Although the basic recipe for Heineken is closely guarded, the ingredients
are no secret. Heineken ingredients include barley malt (grain), hops (flavour maker), water, yeast,
and gluten with no additional additives. The amount of gluten usually depends on whether the beer
is a lighter or darker colored product, with the lighter beer containing less gluten than the darker
beer such as Heineken. The ingredients for Corona look similar to Heineken s. The ingredients
include barley malt, rice, hops, yeast, ascorbic acid, propylene glycol, and/or corn. The ingredients
give Corona the edge over Heineken due to the fact that Corona has the higher quality

The Driving Forces Behind Tom Robbins
The debate over whether or not possessing these qualities truly makes a wise being is a very
complicated and difficult one; however they are the driving forces behind Tom Robbins s
writing. Humor is one of the most obvious themes in Robbins s writing. His work has a sort of
clever and witty comedic aspect: And that s why when you ve exhibited the slightest tendency
toward self importance, I ve reminded you that you and me you and I: excuse me may be every
bit as important as the President or the pope or the biggest prime time icon in Hollywood, but
none of us is much more than a pimple on the ass end of creation, so let s not get carried away
with ourselves. Preventive medicine, boy. It s preventive medicine. But what about self
esteem? Heh! Self esteem is for sissies. Accept that you re a pimple and try to keep a lively
sense of humor about it. That way lies grace and maybe even glory. This quote not only uses
strange and comedic phrasing, pimple on the ass end of creation, but talks about the importance
of humor. There are many laugh out loud moments within this book. For example when Switters
is on XTC and is reciting poetry to a pumpkin and his grandmother walks in, Switters! MAestra
had entered the room behind him. What the hell are you saying to that poor fruit? Is this what
nine hours of modern poetry does to a man (Robbins 15)? The entire plot of the book is humorous
in a sense: A contradictory, 36 year old CIA agent is ordered by his grandmother to

Use of Force One night, a small town patrol officer stops a car driven by two teenagers. The
officer believes that one of them might be responsible for a string of recent burglaries. The teens
are questioned, and the officer becomes angry at their responses. Over the objections of the
teenagers, both teens are pulled out of the car and shoved around a little. They are both told that
they are under arrest and the officer begins to place handcuffs on them. Both fight back and both

Now that I have discussed the use of force and whether it is excessive or not I will begin to
answer the original question posed. Does the family of the teens have any legal recourse available
to them, and if so what is available to them? The answer to this is yes the families definitely have
legal recourse available to them for a number of reasons. The first mistake the officers made was
pulling over the teens because they thought they might have been involved in a recent string of
burglaries. That right there is a violation of the teens Fourth Amendment to have probable cause to
stop them in the first place. Police officers have to have probable cause or more than a hunch to
pull someone over. The scenario said nothing about the car was pulled over because maybe a
witness saw the car leaving the scene of the crime, or maybe the officer had a description of the
suspect and they matched it, he just thought they might be involved. Secondly, they did question
the teens and because of their responses the officer becomes angry and pulls the teens out of the
car. The officer had no right to pull the teens out of the car because of what they said.

However, it is recognized that there is still a lot of ill health that is related to diseases of poverty
and ignorance. Of the six WHO regions in the world, the African Region bears the heaviest burden
of disease (WHO, 2000). Effective and efficient implementation of national and local policies can
reverse this trend. Indeed, the world press (2008) opined that a critical challenge for countries in
Africa is to move from policy to action in the health service delivery. This move from policy to
action should be grounded on each country addressing its priority health needs and mobilizing its
people to improve the state of health service delivery at personal and community levels.
According to a World Bank report, Sri Lanka has achieved a remarkable health service delivery as a
result of devolution (World Bank 2010). This has been attributed to successful implementation of a
credible budget constraint for the hospital; reform to strengthen the accountability of managers for
the performance of the hospital through the creation of a board of external directors or trustees, or a
hospital authority to supervise the manager; and increased managerial authority with freedom to
recruit, promote, set tasks and work hours, and decide on performance rewards and sanctions.
Further, Sub Saharan Africa countries, in translating existing policies into national plans of action,

Importance Of Domino In Vietnam
The United States understood that it was a major deal to do anything they could to stop the spread
of communism. Their involvement in Vietnam expressed how important it was for them to contain
communism.
In order to contain communism they used the process of the domino theory. The domino theory
held that a communist victory in one nation would quickly lead to a chain reaction of communist
takeovers in nearby states. In Southeast Asia, the United States government used the domino theory
to justify its support of a non communist in South Vietnam against the communist government of
North Vietnam. This theory brought more involvement of the United States because they began to

Unconformity And Conformity
Fundamentally, so long as individuals are conditioned to become content with their spot in
society, they will never rebel. Furthermore, since the government does such an effective job at
making it impossible for individuals even imagine any other possible quality of life, they see
whatever inequality they face simply as a necessary price of civilization (Orwell 212). Moreover,
as made evident by the proletarian and Epsilon classes in 1984 and Brave New Worlda large class of
the people do not want to be cultured and are not interested in the higher life. For these people
existence on the lower, animal levels is perfectly satisfactory. Given food, drink, the company of
their fellows, sexual enjoyment, and plenty of noisy distractions from without, they are happy,
(Varricchio) and are therefore accepting of their unescapable social destiny (Huxley 26). What s
more, because the masses are so conditioned to accept their positions in society, they are also
inclined to feel uncomfortable with and take preventative measures against disobeying the system.
Humanity typically fears the unknown, and as such, individuals have a tendency to report to the
government they trust upon noticing someone they don t trust act apart from the status quo. People
do this out of regard for what they perceive to be their own safety and as a result, enforce
conformity for the government. This is precedented in Brave New World when Helmholtz Watson

Aligarh s First Generation By David Lelyveld
Aligarh s First Generation By David Lelyveld Review The book Aligarh s First Generation by
David Lelyveld is a case study of the Muhammadan Anglo Oriental College , today known as the
Aligarh Muslim University , in its first twenty five years of inception, i.e., from 1875 1900. The
book explores the nature of Muslim cultural identity in India in the nineteenth century, and the
changes it may have undergone in the context of colonial rule. It was the period when the first
generation of Muslims educated in English graduated from the college. The author begins in the
preface by presenting the context of the book by describing the college. The Muhammadan Anglo

Its British patrons, who ended up exerting more influence on Aligarh than its founder had intended,
hoped that the new college would create a class of educated Muslims who would be more loyal to
the British and less inclined to agitation than their educated Hindu counterparts. By 1875, when
Aligarh was founded, many British officials were becoming disillusioned with the English
educated, Hindu babu class. Their shrewd adoption of British po litical techniques for the
mobilization of public opinion, their creation of a powerful and all too vocal native press, their
campaigns for more civil service places, made them thorns in the side of a government that had
hoped that education would turn them into docile and appropriately grateful subjects. Members of
the Muslim community, if they could only be persuaded to support the British wholeheartedly,
promised to be stauncher allies because this line of reasoning ran they needed the protection of the
British if they were not to be overwhelmed by the Hindus. It seemed unlikely that English education
would tempt them to agitate for representative government of the British type, because in almost
every electoral contest, Muslims stood to be outvoted. There is no need to impute sinister motives
of divide et impera to the British to comprehend why they sought the favor of leading Muslims and
made a show of supporting Aligarh during its insecure early days. The consequence was that
Aligarh, unlike most Indian managed colleges, could count on indulgent government inspectors,
regular and sustained govern ment grants, and still more tellingly, on the support of successive
British officials who journeyed to its dusty campus, in the spirit of a pilgrimage, to deliver solemn
orations there extolling Anglo Muslim solidarity. It is worth noting that Aligarh was one of the few
appropriate forums for such speeches. They could not conceivably have been delivered

These people believed that coca was a grand gift from the gods. The coca leaf is just as bad as

The Pros And Cons Of The Gun Control Movement
In the words of Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp ВЁ A politician stands on the Second Amendment tells
you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part
of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care ofВЁ. Both
the pro gun and anti gun movements raise some persuasive and plausible points about their sides.
The anti gun movement has a history of an oppressive, racist and totalitarian way of trying to
control people s right to bear arms which in no way prevented gun violence. The gun control
movement as a whole doesn t care about protecting citizens but it instead wants to give the federal
government more control over its citizens.
The earliest forms of gun control in America had barred the sale of guns to Indians, African
Americans, Catholic, and indentured servants. Now the anti gun movement uses these early forms
of gun control to justify their actions against guns, but the early forms of gun control had targeted
groups and ethnic minorities of people who being oppressed because they didn t want those
groups to rise up against their racist and oppressive system. Spitzer, Robert J. Five Myths about
Gun Control. The Washington Post, WP Company, 21 Dec. 2012. Even after the colonial period in
America gun control such as the black codes were used to suppress African Americans right to bear
arms and it also left them defenseless to the terror that was being imposed on them by white
supremacist groups and corrupt local governments.
The common argument that the anti gun movement push is that high caliber weapons mainly so
called ВЁassault riflesВЁ cause mass destruction and that they kill thousands of people a year.
They also claim that there is no use for the weapons and they wish to impose a nationwide ban on
ВЁassault riflesВЁ. Now to the average American the term ВЁassault rifleВЁ may sound
intimidating but anti gun politicians use this term to scare Americans into thinking that a regular
semi automatic rifle is an fully automatic machine which it is not. The most common rifle that the

Emily Dickinson Punctuation

Dickinson s Riddle
Emily Dickinson died before her works were attempted to be analyzed and interpreted, suggesting
perhaps that the mysteries, abstractions, and double meanings were for her own enjoyment, and
all answers if there were any died with her ( Explanation ). Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s
poems is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital
letters, dots, and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily
Dickinson uses punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect
and meaning of her works, such as My Life had stoodп‚ѕa Loaded Gunп‚ѕ, After great pain, a
formal feeling comesп‚ѕ, and Wild Nightsп‚ѕWild Nights!
Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many
of her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and
sight, often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by
dashes (Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks.
Exclamation marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting
passion and excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and
helps to draw in her audience.
Dickinson s My Life had stoodп‚ѕ a Loaded Gunп‚ѕ contains en dashes from beginning to end,

Skin Colorism In America
Skin color in America is a precursor to how minorities are treated. This concept of what is
considered acceptable depicted by what is considered the white norm. Colorism affects all
minorities, but at different degrees. Women in minority communities are affected more harshly than
men when it comes to this construct. Colonization and slavery have created disadvantage were the
wellbeing of individual s lives are beyond their control.
White colorism is something to be acknowledged. Colorism is a part of racism and without
addressing the issue, individuals underestimate the impact of racism. Persons during that era who
displayed more European identities were treated better than those of pure African descent.

Section 98 makes the right of private defence available even against persons who, by reason of
infancy, insanity, intoxication or misconception, are legally incompetent to commit an offence.
And Section 106 allows a person to take the risk of harming innocent person in order to, in
exercise of the right of private defence of body, save himself from mortal injury. Section96, thus,
declares, in general terms, that nothing is an offence which is done in the exercise of private
defence. The subsequent ss 97 98 and 100 106 explain the contours of the right and define the
broad boundaries within which it can be exercised. All the rights enumerated in these sections
are subject to restriction or limitations that are stated in sec. 99. Nature of The Right It is the
first duty of man to help himself. The right of self defence must be fostered in the citizens of
every free country. The right is recognized in every system of law and its extent varies in the
inverse ratio to the capacity of the state to protect life and property of the subject (citizens). It is
the primary duty of the state to protect the life and property of individuals, but no state, no matter
how large its resources, can afford to depute a policeman to dog the steps of every rouge in the
country. Consequently this

Theme Of Death In Anna Karenina
Leo Tolstoy presents two extremely different deaths in Anna Karenina: one of a sickly brother
losing his battle with illness, and one of a woman brimming with intricate complexities committing
suicide because she does not feel like she has a purpose in her life. As Fyodor Dostoevsky asserts
in his work evaluating the novel, In Anna Kareninais expressed a view of human guilt and
criminality. People are portrayed in abnormal circumstances... caught in a whirl of deceit, people
commit crime and fatally perish (Dostoevsky). Dostoevsky speaks to Tolstoy s ability to observe
life and to portray that life to his audience, Tolstoy is able to put his characters in such vividly
abnormal circumstances, that he is able to stir feelings of human guilt in the reader. While both
deaths in the text vary extremely in terms of their contexts, Tolstoy juxtaposes the two deaths to
comment on the natural humanity of death, to determine what it is about death that unites humanity
and characterizes the human experience. Dostoevsky says that, based on Tolstoy s writing, It is
clear and intelligible... that the human soul will remain identical (Dostoevsky). He is able to use
Anna Karenina to show the identicality found in each human soul. In this time in Russia, Tolstoy
shows that this commonality is found in a return to religion and it regret. Yet, he is able to more
broadly assert, that in the final moments of someone s life on Earth, that person searches for
whatever peace they may find,

Essay On The Need Of A Lawyer
We are advanced innovative law firm Mauritius. So, if you were on the site and are reading this
article, you came to the conclusion that you need a lawyer. However, it is likely that you are
not quite sure what the lawyer can help you with. Perhaps you have heard that there is such a
profession a lawyer, and lawyers solve legal (and not only) problems, but maybe you do not know
what specifically you can get help from a lawyer. It can also happen that in your life you already

Prepare immediately for the fact that the lawyer is unlikely to be ready to meet with you right
now , although this option is not excluded. However, the lawyer has a planned schedule of his
work for a few days ahead, in which, of course, you can always find free windows in order to
meet with you. The meeting can take place both in the Bar Association and in a convenient
neutral place (cafe for example) by agreement with a lawyer. A visit by a lawyer to your place of
residence is excluded in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Ethics of the lawyer.
After agreeing with a lawyer about the meeting, try to prepare all the documents you have, to
more accurately assess your problem. I have to admit that people often do not apply for legal
advice until the situation becomes difficult to resolve. In practice, citizens are not inclined to seek
advice when making important decisions concluding various contracts, formalizing the property
right in marriage, and other difficult life moments. It would seem that it could be easier, call a
lawyer, arrange a meeting, and within an hour or a little more get a detailed assessment of the
problem by paying only a lawyer s advice. However, more often things are different. The person
makes the decision himself, and only then, when the thunder bursts out he seeks help from a

Hybrid Cars Essay
Hybrid Cars
In my basic presentation, I examined the practicality of HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles),
otherwise known as hybrids. The presentation gave some background about laws pertaining to
emissions but at the same time was designed more to educate the consumer as to what a hybrid
actually is. You do not plug it in!
Current Emission Standards are confusing. At this point in time, we are at a major transition as to
what will be the future of combustion vehicles. Present day standards do not call for the kind of
emission requirements that will account for the current rate of global warming. To fix this problem
we must either cut back on the number of vehicles on the road (not likely to happen) or use less
fuel. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The increased fuel efficiency of the hybrids actually makes city driving more economical than
highway driving. Overall fuel efficiency (MPG) can be doubled. All of these factors lead to
reduced emissions.
At this point, it would be appropriate to include a brief summary of the Emission Standards as
proposed by the EPA. The Federal mandates on emissions include Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 took
effect in 1997 and was the first call for a reduction in emissions since the 50s. Tier 2 will be
phased in beginning 2004. Currently, Tier 1 standards take into account the size of the car when
determining emission ratings. When Tier 2 takes effect, the size of the car will no longer matter
(i.e. an SUV will be held to the same standards as a subcompact car). The Tier 1 and Tier 2
guidelines only apply to passenger cars. Buses, trucks, and construction equipment will have
different mandates.
The National LEV (NLEV) standard goes hand in hand with the California Emissions Standards
(developed by the CARB: California Air Resources Board). NLEV is short for the National Low
Emission VehicleStandard. California came up with its own guidelines for emissions which are
more rigid than today?s Tier 1 standard. The Federal Government adopted this standard into its
NLEV program. It is a voluntary program that was proposed mostly by California and the Northeast
US. NLEV has been adopted to carry car designs from Tier 1 into Tier 2. The NLEV program

Decriminalization Of Marijuana Legalization
35 million Americans use marijuana on a monthly basis, while at least 78 million Americans use at
some point according to a survey by Yahoo News/Marist College (Kate); however, marijuana is an
illegal drug in most of The United States. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits
from legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by
affecting the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabisfrom
Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.
There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing
of a historic problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea of
marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana legalization
will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the observed usage rate
in America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an observed rate of
7% (Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime). This information is pertinent because
it nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of legalization; the
common user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality. Marijuana
criminalization aids in linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the illegal
activities. Violence, prostitution, and gambling are associated with marijuana due to the

Civilian Job Specifications And The Army
Civilian Job Specifications and the Army Leadership Attributes Civilian Organizations and the
Army as an Organization Phillip Pandy University of Texas at El Paso Abstract The Army is
one of the largest organizations in the world. The Army is global; the Army is technologically
advanced and maintains its own infrastructure. What allows the Army to be the modern day
force that it is today? The Army has values, and expects results from its soldiers. This culture has

the Army Leadership Attributes Job specifications simply put are knowledge, skills, abilities and
other characteristics (KSAOs) that a potential employee must have in order to fill his/her

an organization requires its employees; employees being its Soldiers, to uphold a certain level of
ethical behavior as well as project a professional image. This ethical behavior is combined with a
number of attributes that reflect an individual s performance and upward mobility. These Attributes
are grouped into six categories; Character, Presence, Intellect, Leading, Developing and Achieving.
The traits that are placed into these categories range from one s ability to have confidence all the
way down to how prompt one may be when obtaining results. The professional image eluded to

The Success Of Becoming A Millionaire
What is success exactly? There are so many different variations of how you can achieve success.
Success does not just come in a neat package all wrapped up with a bow on top, sometimes
success requires a struggle. Success can be something small or it can be something big. For
example you could consider getting an A on a test a successor becoming a millionaire a success,
there are different levels of success. One aspect of success that that has not been taken into
consideration, which is in order for you to be successful you must be happy, at least that is what
I believe. Going back to the example of becoming a millionaire, sure you may be happy about
having money at first but soon having all the money in the world will not make a difference to
you. You will go day after day wishing for something more and it probably will be something that
money cannot buy. However if you are happy with your job and how you earned the money that is
a different story, you have succeeded. According to Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary success
is defined as the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.
When I talked to Amy Strawn, who is the children s pastors wife at my church, she had a few
different definitions of what exactly success was. Her first comment was about success within
her faith. Success to me is living my life in a way that is pleasing to God. I want to impact the
most people I can for the Kingdom of Heaven. Success is sharing Jesus in a true and genuine way.

Understanding Of Mpm And Measuring Improvement Essay
RESEARCH PROPOSAL Study objective: Understanding of MPM and measuring improvement in
store sales . INTRODUCTION Retail enterprise is a kind of commercial enterprise with high level
of competition. The success of retail business depends on how fast can a retailer recognize
consumer behavior and buying pattern. Retail business must focus on the factor affecting consumer
buying pattern and elements that shifts customers buying decision. Store atmospheric attributes
(which include shade, lighting fixtures, income personnel, music and so on) shape the general
context within which shoppers make decisions of store selection and patronage. Many of the
previous research on retail environment suggests that such attributes affect the image of the store.
Retailers comprehend the significance of such attributes and systematically attempt to avail of an
atmosphere, inclusive of suitable colors, music and so on that will attract their target customers.
Further, purchase decision making has emerge as complicated task due to the inseparability of
product and services offered in retail outlets. Retail store floor planning is a complicated task. The
essential objective is to maximize sales with customer satisfaction and minimize overall prices.
Many factors affect the store floor planning, like the arrival pattern of clients, design of the

homeless for the rest of her life. In some ways I can relate to Dasani, I am very passionate about
my school work as well. I want to excel so I can be my very best in the future. However, our

however are a lot different from mine. In the Invisible Child Elliot tells us how Dasani s parents
do not have legit jobs, instead they have side hustles that only bring in a few dollars. Elliot states

The Portrayal Analysis Of Rosalind s As You Like It
After considering all the definitions available from The Oxford English Dictionary Online of
the word giddy chosen from the passage, As You Like It Act 3 Scene 3, lines 281 328, I had
concluded that Definition 3 A deemed to be the most relevant to the passage. The description of
attributes and actions and elated to thoughtlessness {OED online, 2017) seems rather fitting to
the character of Rosalind, and almost key, for Rosalind a petite but noble, wise woman, with a
profound knowledge of all the intricacies of the heart, and indeed how to manipulate these
emotions and stir within others foolishness. Danson Brown suggests All Rosalind s speeches
should be played giddily as she is stylistically varied he continues that Rosalind s adopts registers

, 3.2.335 38) in itself is quite
giddy light headed, frivolous, flighty (OED online, 2017) as there is a verbal irony it involves a
discrepancy between what is said and what is really meant, as in its crude form, sarcasm. The
themes of the entire play as well as this chosen passage also fit around the definition of giddy aptly

Socrates Unjust Man
Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is
constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an
unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in
Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An
unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is
disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other
people s because of their appetites. Platodivides the soulinto two sections reason, spirit/indignation
and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason
on the sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts
behaving unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected
to his desires. Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and
shows how they all start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained
while Socrates describes the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy.
Socrates explains how if a person were to proceed further into money making, the more they value
it, and the more they would be enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last,
Tyranny. Some people may consider them to be

Pasteurization innovated the medical and the world of microbiology. Doctors began to put their
medical equipment through intense heat in order to kill microscopic organisms and bacteria
that can cause patients to fall victim to diseases. Before this discovery, hospitals cleaned tools
through water. This left germs on the equipment making hospitals unsanitary. Louis introduced
the idea that microscopic organisms are the reason for illnesses (World of Microbiology and

microbiologist a greater role in the medical field and opened a door to new possible research.

computational Grids. With the help of their size and geographic dissemination they help to create
large computing centers. Several simulation studies are performed for evaluating the mechanisms
to allocate resources in a Grid. There are three mechanisms to allocate resources in a Grid. The
first method is the non cooperative sealed bid method where the tasks are auctioned off to the

task its work to others if it cannot perform the work itself. Last, the cooperative method in which
all the sites cooperatively perform all the tasks as efficiently as possible. The simulation model has

Descriptive Essay About A Marching Band
Reset! I became overly acquainted with that word my freshman year of high school marching
band. It seemed to be the only word our director, Mr. Miller, would say to us, demanding the band
to return to their original positions and march the same several phrases tirelessly. To us, reset
became synonymous with torture. Little did I know, that repugnant little word was meant to
prepare me for one spectacular night. A night that gave family a whole new meaning.
The night of October fourth, on a crisp, autumnal Saturday, the Washington High School marching
band and color guard prepares for their biggest competition of the season. It is late, well past ten.
The moon is high, and the inky sky is peppered with brilliant, luminous stars. The millions of tiny
spotlights cast their ominous glow upon the color guard. Each of us is dressed impeccably in a
cropped denim jacket, white tank top and black spandex pants. Our hair is gelled back in slick
buns, our facial features exaggerated with heavy makeup and our lips carefully accented with
ruby red lipstick as the centerpiece of our costumes. Julie, our beloved instructor, shouts at us to
rehearse our choreography once more, even though we know it like the back of our hands. The
chilly October wind sweeps wiry strands of scorching red hair in front of Julie s face, obscuring her
motherly features like a mask. Her ruddy, freckled face is stern, but her eyes are soft with
adoration as she looks upon her color guard.

Essay On Sociology Is The Father Of Sociology
Sociology
1.What is the science of sociology?
Sociology is defined as a systematic arrangement of knowledge that indicates operations in
consideration to the general laws. In a general approach, sociology is defined briefly as the study
of how human interact in their daily social life. The word sociology is developed from two main
other words socio and logos . The meaning of socio is society and the meaning of logos is science.
That means sociology is the science used to study human social life. In addition to this sociology is
not concerned with only the social interaction but also the daily social changes.
Different approaches have been developed for the study and examination of sociology but never
has there been an acceptable concept to this study. The reason is that sociology involves a study
of human lives and the behaviors and therefore, it is a very complicated topic to study. Sociology
is composed by various sociological theories which in many cases they contradict each other
leading to a lot of issues about this topic (Horowitz, 2017).

Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing
Section 2 Literature review
The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New
Zealand and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face
in doing so. It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers.
2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business
Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is
important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a
very comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is
growing and Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure
that high speed internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New
Zealand to have the best network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet
by businesses throughout the country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are

Efficient Market Hypothesis And The Effect Of High...
Efficient Market Hypothesis and the Effect of High Frequency Trading The efficient market
hypothesis (EMH) has consistently remained in the forefront of finance theory for decades. As
technology has advanced, the ability to assess the efficient market hypothesis has increased
exponentially and so have the opportunities to exploit it. Tactics such as high frequency trading
and insider trading threaten the dependability of the efficient market hypothesis. EMH is a
rudimentary theory that implies the value of an asset is directly correlated or about equal to the
intrinsic value of the asset. (Brigham Houston, 2012) The intrinsic value of a stock is the actual
value of a company or an asset based on an underlying perception of its true value including all
aspects of the business, in terms of both tangible and intangible factors (investopedia.com).
Investors use this logic to determine whether to buy or sell a stock depending on its perceived value
with respect to the intrinsic value. Whether the investor employs an active or passive investment
strategy, the EMH is a rational decision making process to ensure a confident investment. The
efficient market hypothesis is constantly being analyzed for its validity in the current market. There
are a multitude of external factors contributing to the reluctance of relying on the EMH.
Specifically, the rise of high frequency trading has significantly called into question the legitimacy
of the efficient market. High

The Career As An Educator
A career as an educator is a highly rewarding and equally challenging position, a teacher is not
only responsible for the academic success of their pupils but the social development as well, this
is especially true as a second language teacher. It is through my own experience as a student and a
prospective teacher that I ve developed my own beliefs and philosophy about teaching. I believe
that there are certain things that can t be compromised or short sold for example, classroom
environment and the needs of the learner. There does however, need to be a certain level of
flexibility both with the teacher and the techniques and methodologies employed. There are many
attributes that make an effective teacher, some include; creativity, compassion, and leadership.
These qualities coupled with knowledge of the material and languagelearning experience can fortify
learning for the students.
Through the course of this semester many approaches and techniques have been discussed,
elaboration on their benefits and uses and how to utilize them best in a language learning setting
have been highlighted. Through the presentation of all the information it seems that no single
approach or technique can satisfy the needs of every learner, and that the most pertinent message to
teachers is to know what the needs of your students are individually, and cater lessons for those
needs using a variety of techniques. That being said I will discuss some approaches and techniques
that I found the most

Also, a good amount of genetic hearing losses, eighty percent to be exact are autosomal recessive. This means that the parents do not have a hearing loss, but they are carriers. This gives physicians less information that would alert them of an infantile hearing loss. During the elementary years, children with this loss can encounter a variety of obstacles. One big obstacle can occur with the development of reading skills. Since reading and reading comprehension is so important for life this can be a huge setback if it is not met with intensive intervention. According to research, the median reading level for high school graduates with hearing loss falls between fourth and fifth grade. If a child with a loss is able to begin their school years already knowing the alphabet, they will have a much higher chance of being a grade level reader. Knowing the alphabet early on in life is able to increase the phonological awareness that the child has. Their phonological awareness can predict their future reading abilities. Children who are deaf or hard of hearing are known to have troubles when it comes to their social lives especially with their hearing peers. According to Anita, Jones, and Luckner, Individuals who lack social skills are often rejected by others and are at risk for developing mental health problems. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is considered to be America s pastime, meaning it is what people loved to do in their off time back in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Baseball was invented by Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York in 1839. Back then baseball was much different than today. Different rules, balls, and equipment than in today s age. Just like Billy, the players were focused on one thing winning, winning the World Series. Billy lived by this quote, The problem, wrote James, is that baseball statistics are not pure accomplishments of men against other men, which is what we are in the habit of seeing them as. They are accomplishments of men in combination with their circumstances (Lewis 71). It also asked questions like, what were their racist ideas really based on, how did racism effect the community, can racism be reshaped by actual experiences, and how or why racismto begin with? Racism has been the main topic in the judicial system, police affairs, and racially divided communities for years but it s neither disappearing nor growing to this today. In this movie the main character was a man named Derek. After the death of his father, due to gang violence, he became a racist to all others but white people. He blamed the lack of jobs and poor wages on the blacks and immigrants. In an interview he had after the death of his father he stated that, it s all the blacks fault for all the violence in their neighborhood. Corona is the better beerthan Heineken, for example, I once purchased a six pack of each brand to meet my hydration needs to prepare myself for a long, yet fun lake day. Does the family of the teens have any legal recourse available to them, and if so what is available to them? The first mistake the officers made was pulling over the teens because they thought they might have been involved in a recent string of burglaries. That right there is a violation of the teens Fourth Amendment to have probable cause to stop them in the first place. Indeed, the world press (2008) opined that a critical challenge for countries in Africa is to move from policy to action in the health service delivery. • 18. Unconformity And Conformity Fundamentally, so long as individuals are conditioned to become content with their spot in society, they will never rebel. Furthermore, since the government does such an effective job at making it impossible for individuals even imagine any other possible quality of life, they see whatever inequality they face simply as a necessary price of civilization (Orwell 212). Moreover, as made evident by the proletarian and Epsilon classes in 1984 and Brave New Worlda large class of the people do not want to be cultured and are not interested in the higher life. For these people existence on the lower, animal levels is perfectly satisfactory. Given food, drink, the company of their fellows, sexual enjoyment, and plenty of noisy distractions from without, they are happy, (Varricchio) and are therefore accepting of their unescapable social destiny (Huxley 26). What s more, because the masses are so conditioned to accept their positions in society, they are also inclined to feel uncomfortable with and take preventative measures against disobeying the system. Humanity typically fears the unknown, and as such, individuals have a tendency to report to the government they trust upon noticing someone they don t trust act apart from the status quo. Its British patrons, who ended up exerting more influence on Aligarh than its founder had intended, hoped that the new college would create a class of educated Muslims who would be more loyal to the British and less inclined to agitation than their educated Hindu counterparts. By 1875, when Aligarh was founded, many British officials were becoming disillusioned with the English educated, Hindu babu class. Their shrewd adoption of British po litical techniques for the mobilization of public opinion, their creation of a powerful and all too vocal native press, their campaigns for more civil service places, made them thorns in the side of a government that had hoped that education would turn them into docile and appropriately grateful subjects. Members of the Muslim community, if they could only be persuaded to support the British wholeheartedly, promised to be stauncher allies because this line of reasoning ran they needed the protection of the British if they were not to be overwhelmed by the Hindus. It seemed unlikely that English education would tempt them to agitate for representative government of the British type, because in almost every electoral contest, Muslims stood to be outvoted. There is no need to impute sinister motives of divide et impera to the British to comprehend why they sought the favor of leading Muslims and made a show of supporting Aligarh during its insecure early days. The consequence was that Aligarh, unlike most Indian managed colleges, could count on indulgent government inspectors, regular and sustained govern ment grants, and still more tellingly, on the support of successive British officials who journeyed to its dusty campus, in the spirit of a pilgrimage, to deliver solemn orations there extolling Anglo Muslim solidarity. The Pros And Cons Of The Gun Control Movement In the words of Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp ВЁ A politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care ofВЁ. Both the pro gun and anti gun movements raise some persuasive and plausible points about their sides. The anti gun movement has a history of an oppressive, racist and totalitarian way of trying to control people s right to bear arms which in no way prevented gun violence. The gun control movement as a whole doesn t care about protecting citizens but it instead wants to give the federal government more control over its citizens. The earliest forms of gun control in America had barred the sale of guns to Indians, African Americans, Catholic, and indentured servants. Now the anti gun movement uses these early forms of gun control to justify their actions against guns, but the early forms of gun control had targeted groups and ethnic minorities of people who being oppressed because they didn t want those groups to rise up against their racist and oppressive system. Spitzer, Robert J. Five Myths about Gun Control. The Washington Post, WP Company, 21 Dec. 2012. Even after the colonial period in America gun control such as the black codes were used to suppress African Americans right to bear arms and it also left them defenseless to the terror that was being imposed on them by white supremacist groups and corrupt local governments. Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots, and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Exclamation marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and excitement throughout. Theme Of Death In Anna Karenina Leo Tolstoy presents two extremely different deaths in Anna Karenina: one of a sickly brother losing his battle with illness, and one of a woman brimming with intricate complexities committing suicide because she does not feel like she has a purpose in her life. As Fyodor Dostoevsky asserts in his work evaluating the novel, In Anna Kareninais expressed a view of human guilt and criminality. People are portrayed in abnormal circumstances... caught in a whirl of deceit, people commit crime and fatally perish (Dostoevsky). Dostoevsky speaks to Tolstoy s ability to observe life and to portray that life to his audience, Tolstoy is able to put his characters in such vividly abnormal circumstances, that he is able to stir feelings of human guilt in the reader. While both deaths in the text vary extremely in terms of their contexts, Tolstoy juxtaposes the two deaths to comment on the natural humanity of death, to determine what it is about death that unites humanity and characterizes the human experience. Dostoevsky says that, based on Tolstoy s writing, It is clear and intelligible... that the human soul will remain identical (Dostoevsky). He is able to use Anna Karenina to show the identicality found in each human soul. In this time in Russia, Tolstoy shows that this commonality is found in a return to religion and it regret. Yet, he is able to more broadly assert, that in the final moments of someone s life on Earth, that person searches for whatever peace they may find, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps you have heard that there is such a profession a lawyer, and lawyers solve legal (and not only) problems, but maybe you do not know what specifically you can get help from a lawyer. The meeting can take place both in the Bar Association and in a convenient neutral place (cafe for example) by agreement with a lawyer. A visit by a lawyer to your place of residence is excluded in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Ethics of the lawyer. After agreeing with a lawyer about the meeting, try to prepare all the documents you have, to more accurately assess your problem. I have to admit that people often do not apply for legal advice until the situation becomes difficult to resolve. In practice, citizens are not inclined to seek advice when making important decisions concluding various contracts, formalizing the property right in marriage, and other difficult life moments. It would seem that it could be easier, call a lawyer, arrange a meeting, and within an hour or a little more get a detailed assessment of the problem by paying only a lawyer s advice. However, more often things are different. The person makes the decision himself, and only then, when the thunder bursts out he seeks help from a lawyer, in this case the ... The presentation gave some background about laws pertaining to emissions but at the same time was designed more to educate the consumer as to what a hybrid actually is. You do not plug it in! Current Emission Standards are confusing. At this point in time, we are at a major transition as to what will be the future of combustion vehicles. The increased fuel efficiency of the hybrids actually makes city driving more economical than highway driving. Overall fuel efficiency (MPG) can be doubled. All of these factors lead to reduced emissions. At this point, it would be appropriate to include a brief summary of the Emission Standards as proposed by the EPA. The Federal mandates on emissions include Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 took effect in 1997 and was the first call for a reduction in emissions since the 50s. Tier 2 will be phased in beginning 2004. Currently, Tier 1 standards take into account the size of the car when determining emission ratings. When Tier 2 takes effect, the size of the car will no longer matter (i.e. an SUV will be held to the same standards as a subcompact car). The Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines only apply to passenger cars. Buses, trucks, and construction equipment will have different mandates. The National LEV (NLEV) standard goes hand in hand with the California Emissions Standards (developed by the CARB: California Air Resources Board). NLEV is short for the National Low Emission VehicleStandard. California came up with its own guidelines for emissions which are more rigid than today?s Tier 1 standard. The Federal Government adopted this standard into its NLEV program. It is a voluntary program that was proposed mostly by California and the Northeast US. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits from legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by affecting the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabisfrom Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing of a historic problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea of marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana legalization will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the observed usage rate in America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an observed rate of 7% (Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime). This information is pertinent because it nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of legalization; the common user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality. Marijuana criminalization aids in linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the illegal activities. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other people s because of their appetites. Platodivides the soulinto two sections reason, spirit/indignation and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason on the sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts behaving unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected to his desires. Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and shows how they all start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained while Socrates describes the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy. Efficient Market Hypothesis and the Effect of High Frequency Trading The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) has consistently remained in the forefront of finance theory for decades. As technology has advanced, the ability to assess the efficient market hypothesis has increased exponentially and so have the opportunities to exploit it. Tactics such as high frequency trading and insider trading threaten the dependability of the efficient market hypothesis. EMH is a rudimentary theory that implies the value of an asset is directly correlated or about equal to the intrinsic value of the asset. (Brigham Houston, 2012) The intrinsic value of a stock is the actual value of a company or an asset based on an underlying perception of its true value including all aspects of the business, in terms of both tangible and intangible factors (investopedia.com). Investors use this logic to determine whether to buy or sell a stock depending on its perceived value with respect to the intrinsic value. Whether the investor employs an active or passive investment strategy, the EMH is a rational decision making process to ensure a confident investment. The efficient market hypothesis is constantly being analyzed for its validity in the current market. There are a multitude of external factors contributing to the reluctance of relying on the EMH. Specifically, the rise of high frequency trading has significantly called into question the legitimacy of the efficient market. High ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
