Do Nightmares Have More Negative Emotions Before And After...
Purpose The purpose of this article is to examine whether people who frequently suffer from
nightmares have more stress and stronger negative emotions before and after sleep than people who do
not frequently suffer from nightmares. The study investigates a sample dream of the people who
frequently suffer from nightmares to see if their experienced emotions are more negative than the
people who do not suffer from frequent nightmares. To collect the results in the study, four
questionnaires are used. Key Concepts, Tenets, and/or Findings The hypothesis of the study is that
participants who have at least one nightmare per week will have more negative emotions in their
dreams than the ones who have nightmares less than once a month; also, that the nightmare sufferers
will have more stress in the morning and evening than the non nightmare sufferers. An experimental
study was performed using participants from a larger Canadian dream study. They selected sixty
participants based on the criteria that they either had nightmares at least once a week, or they had
nightmares less than once a month. The participants ages ranged from 13 to 58. The participants were
split into two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To test the hypothesis, ANOVAs were administered on the levels of anxiety and fear in the participants
dreams, and to determine if the frequent nightmare sufferers differed in mood and stress before and
after sleep. The results of the ANOVA on fear and anxiety showed that the frequent nightmare
sufferers scored higher. An ANOVA also showed that the frequent nightmare sufferers experienced
higher stress levels than the participants who didn t have frequent nightmares, both in the morning and
before bedtime. The researchers from the study learned that frequent nightmare sufferers have much
more worry and stress the morning following a dream, and much more worry, fear, anxiety, and stress
the night before a

La Amistad
Give us, us free. Give us, us free. Give us, us free Cinque passionately repeated over and over during

slaves to Cuba. Killing much of the crew, including the Captain of the ship, unable to bring the ship
back to Sienna Leon they ended up along the American east coast and they captured by the United
States Navy. Due to language barriers, Americans imprisoned the slaves as runaway slaves. Capturing
the attention of abolitionist lawyer, Roger Baldwin, he was able to collect evidence and present a

One can argue that because director, Steven Spielberg is white, the film is not focused the blacks, the
slaves heroes fighting for their freedom, instead much of the films time is dedicated and centered on
white lawyers, abolitionist, and political figures Americans. The film doesn t failed to historically
portray and left out that the Amistad slaves in reality didn t have much interactions with whites and
they were definitely not present in the court room, Amistad slaves spent their time lock behind bars
and exploited by abolitionists (Jones, 1998). Furthermore, scenes that showed Joadson and Cinque
visiting John Quincy Adams s house is entirely fabricated, especially the scene were Cinque is in
Adams garden recognizes and holds an African violet, nonexistent in Sierra Leone, used by film
makers in order to draw the audience and relate to Cinque. On the other hand, the film distorts race,
during that time the American public still had strict racial codes, meaning that fictional character
Joadson would not be associated with white American abolitionists, presidents and Supreme Court
judges. Another factual error, is the rumors and talks of American politicians and society about the
upcoming Civil War, which in reality takes place about 20 years after the Amistad

Essay about Wrestling Match Loss
Wrestling Match Loss
As I crawled off of the mat in anguish, I couldn t believe that I let it happen again. My one chance to
settle the score and truly prove that I was better, was gone. My coaches and friends tried to tell me
how good I did and how lucky he got, but it only made the pain worse. They put into perspective
exactly how close I was to beating him, and it just made me think more. Think about how this was his
last year, and how I would never be able to avenge my defeat. It made me feel like everything that I
had worked for all season was lost in a split second, one that I couldn t take back.
The 2000 2001 wrestling season started off the same as any other with tormenting practices and the
effort to get in as good of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thought of regionals and state were starting to come up a little more this late in the year. I knew
that I would have to wrestle Roy again, one way or another.
Regionals came up before I knew it and I won my first and second matches easily with pins, but I
knew my third wouldn t be so easy. Sure enough, I checked the brackets and Roy had won his first
two as well. This only meant one thing, Roy and I had a third date. I spent the next couple of hours as
a nervous wreck awaiting the match. Then I heard the booming voice of the announcer call out our
names and I headed for the mat. The match had little excitement except for a few close calls, and at
the end of the third period it was tied 3 3. Overtime is a good place for a Hotchkiss wrestler to be
because we are in so much better shape than everyone else. Sure I was in better shape than Roy, but I
will have to admit he was a bit stronger, all right a lot stronger. He ended up grabbing my leg with no
technique and jerking it to his body. He got me off my feet and took me down. Roy had beat me for
the first time in three matches. I had out wrestled him until last 5 seconds when I let my guard down. I
was crushed by the defeat and I vowed to myself that if I wrestled him again at state that it wouldn t
happen twice. I won my match for third and fourth against a different rival that had beaten me earlier

Concussion Effects In Football
Football is a game of simple physics: One player has a ball, and the other players on the field are
trying to either protect the ball carrier, or tackle them. The majority of the time, this interaction
happens at high speed. Speeds so fast that the parties involved collide into each other with a G Force
equivalent to a bowling ball being dropped on a head from 8 feet high.
Bone crushing hits and flying tackles are all part of what makes the sports fun to watch. That being
said, football is a beautifully violent game, which is the reason why so many Americans
simultaneously appreciate and fear the sport. It s the reason people cheer when a cornerback like
Richard Sherman makes a tackle or a linebacker hits their opponent hard enough, they retire from the
sport. It s also the reason why one in three players will experience some form of brain trauma during
their career. On a professional level, the number of concussions diagnosed in the National Football
League (NFL) has increased by 58 percent during the regular. Kids, however, have also been reported
to experience brain injuries while on the field.
Football has a serious problem with head injuries, and after years of outright denial, organizations
across the country are finally acknowledging it through payouts, research grants, and initiatives like
the Head Health Challenge, which gives grants to companies working on advancements in football
related head health. One of those grants recipients was VICIS, a Seattle based company who s
designed a new, flexible helmet called Zero1.
What s inside the helmet?
VICIS helmets use a form of engineering that is unique from how helmets have been made in the past.
According to their website, the helmet is made with layers (like a parfait), and those layers work
together to lessen the impact of a hit, both as they occur and over a period of time. The helmet also
features a soft outer shell and an underlying layer of columns designed to weaken collisions from
multiple directions.
Columns: The columns refer to the VICIS reflex system. The helmet, for instance, is designed with a
series of plates that work to help reduce the trauma behind major collisions. As the helmet start to fold
and yield, it absorbs the blow

Stereotypes Of Leadership In The Film Strictly Ballroom
While watching Strictly Ballroom I was intrigued on how this movie would relate to our learnings
about leadership thus far. As I was watching the movie the stage was set as what the outcome would
become but the journey to get there was interesting to watch as the story unfolded. I found each
character a stereotype of a leader learned thus far, but the most interesting for me was that of Barry
Fife. Barry Fife, who is the president of the Australian Dancing Federation demonstrates a leader
frantically holding on to his status with, position power. He demonstrates this by use of title, reward,
coercive and information power. (Northhouse, 2016 p 11 12) An illustration of this is when Fife

Zoroastrianism s Influence On The Formation Of Christianity
Zoroastrianism was a huge influence on the formation of Christianity. There are multiple links
between the two religions while Zoroastrianism pre dates Christianity by hundreds of years. The
evidence found through archaeological discovery and from the beliefs of present day Zoroastrianists
points to one conclusion: that although Christianity and Zoroastrianism are seen as two very different
religions, their cosmologies are so intertwined that is hard to tell which came first until looking at the
physical evidence. The core beliefs are similar and how each religion predicts what will happen at the
end of time are, as well. For some Christians, it hard to look at the evidence without it shaking their
beliefs, but by taking an outsider s perspective, one can begin see that religions are evolving
throughout the millennia. Three main topics arise when comparing the two religions: the creation
story, the story of the savior, and the revelation story. The relationships between these two religions
shows that religions may not only be divinely inspired, but also inspired from past religions. This
gives people the idea that faith evolves through the ages to better suit the current culture or state of
society.
Creation is seen in Christianity as a sacred story that explains not how, but why people exist in this
universe. Depending on the sect of Christianity, it is taken literally, or it is seen as a story that teaches
the lesson of their god s great love for mankind. Christians

The Effect Of Concentration Of Sucrose On The Dialysis
ariables
The independent variable was the concentration of sucrose in the dialysis tubing we used as a
simulated membrane.
The dependent variable was the percent increase in mass of the dialysis tubing. We can use this to
compare how osmosis increases or decreases as solute concentration increases. Hypothesis
We hypothesize that as the solute concentration increases, more water will diffuse into the dialysis
tubing (shown by a greater percent increase in mass).
We know that water will move through a membrane from more free water to less free water. The
higher the solute concentration is, the less free water there is. All of the sucrose solutions are being put
in pure water, but the ones with the most sucrose will need the most water to diffuse inside and bring
the free water levels to equilibrium, and the ones with less will need less water to diffuse.
Expectations
If the hypothesis is correct, the masses after we place the tubing samples in water will be higher than
the masses before. We will see the greatest % increase in mass in the highest concentration of sucrose
(1.0 M). The % increase will get lower as concentration decreases. All of the samples should have
some increase in mass because we are placing them in distilled water. Based on the known solutions,
the data should yield a mathematical model relating concentration and % increase, which we can use
to find the concentration of the unknown solution. Methods
We used the methods provided for us in the lab book.

Global Climate Change Is The Future Of The Entire Generation
Global climate change transcends the future of the entire generation. Yunjing Wang mentions that the
world is expecting warming that could be dangerous throughout the century (Wang et al., 2015). Not
only effecting species of animals but also determining the presence of human existence. New diseases
prevail on a daily basis specifically vector borne. These vector borne illnesses adapt to climate change
due to temperature fluctuations, constant precipitation, and population adjustments. Although diseases
such as Malaria and Zika are being researched on a daily basis, preventative measures for diseases
caused by climate change are being acted upon by many organizations. If a steady climate can arise in
the near future, virulence of many climate related diseases will eventually decline. The dynamics of
climate influence virulence due to unstable temperatures. The effects on the quality of life creates
vulnerability to those that surround these virulent environments. It is referenced that extreme
outbreaks occur after major disturbances to the population (McMichael, 2015). These climatic events
tend to trigger microbes, pathogens, and hosts to start infecting the nearest populous whether it be
animal or human. As McMichael mentions, microbes have the capacity that is stronger willed than any
biotechnological application and can reproduce a stable metabolism and maintain a relationship in the
most severe disturbance (2015). McMichael, also states that human driven climate

The Impact Of Mobile Advertisements In Generation X
the least popular and least effective, least popular and more effective, and most popular and most
effective. The video advertisements, banner advertisements, interstitial advertisements, and in app
purchases are the most popular and most effective way to gain money from this mobile application,
and they will be used.
Advertisements have become more popular within the past few years. The reason for this is because
this generation, Generation X, is much more virtual friendly and much more reliant on technology.
Bert Markgraf, the freelance writer and graduate of McGill University, speaks about this, saying:
Mobile advertising has been increasing rapidly, both in volume and value. Over the last three months
of 2012, average mobile ad rates increased by 50 percent and they retained most of the increase in
January 2013. Effective CPM rates ranged from $0.53 for an Android device in October 2012 to $1.12
for an iOS device in December 2012. In January 2013, eCPM rates for Android devices remained high
at $0.88 while those for iOS devices decreased from their peak to $1.08. iOS devices achieved
consistently higher rates than Android devices by about 30 percent.
With this information on hand, it is clear that making money using advertisements from mobile
applications is not as challenging as it was five years ago. Every year, technology is getting more and
more advanced, and there are more roads to making easy money through mobile applications. To
make an application, one needs an

Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up
One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen
monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector
weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based
on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy
by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the
performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one
will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and
directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of
the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the
worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester
will be integrated in the clothes of the worker.
As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including
walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide
viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices
including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors
and actuators. A significant impediment in the

Ethical Issues In Iron Man
In the 2008 movie Iron Man, Tony Stark makes a variety of significant ethical decisions as he goes
through his transformation from selfish, irresponsible billionaire and genius, to slightly less selfish and
slightly less irresponsible billionaire, genius and superhero. One of the earliest of these decisions that
we see is his general irresponsibility about how the weapons that he manufactures are used, and more
importantly, who has access to them. Although one could argue that this isn t a decision that he makes
and instead is just ignorance to the goings on of his company, I would argue that as the owner of a
large weapons manufacturing company, Tony Stark has a responsibility to be aware of what goes on in
his company, at least to some extent, and so he decides the extent to which he will take on this
responsibility. Later in the film, Tony Stark makes another significant ethical decision when he
decides to fly back to the middle east and destroy terrorist s stockpiles of Stark Industries weapons. In
addition to destroying these weapons, Stark also decides to kill a large group of terrorists. In superhero
movies, the writers and directors tend to make it very clear when we are supposed to feel that the hero
is doing the right thing and when he is doing the wrong thing. Consequently, this sequence is
portrayed very heroically with clearly defined good guys and bad guys and no negative consequences.
However, in the real world, this decision would have had a variety of

In July of 2007, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), a casual dining pizzeria started in California by co
owners Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, was faced with the decision to invest in a stock repurchase
program. Led by Chief Financial Officer Susan Collyns, the financial team of CPK was reviewing the
preliminary results for the second quarter to determine if the stock repurchase program would provide
a significant financial leverage for the company. The goal was to determine if the company can

Not only would this benefit the company, but would also benefit the stakeholders who just received
the additional 50% stock dividend that CPK issued.
Financial Leverage on WACC
When analyzing which debt financing option CPK should choose, the weight average cost of capital
(WACC) will provide an approximation on how much CPK must earn in order to satisfy the amount
financed. The values of WACC for the actual, 10%, 20%, and 30% options can be found in Appendix
A. It appears that the higher the financial leverage, the lower the WACC will be. Take for instance if
CPK chooses a 30% debt to capital situation, the ROE will be 11.1 % with a 9.2% WACC. In contrast,
at the actual value, the ROE is 9% with the WACC being 9.5% and could pose badly for CPK. As long
as CPK is comfortable with the high risk of a 30% debt to capital ratio, then it would be the most
beneficial in terms of adding economic value to the company, and for the shareholders, while
providing a high financial leverage.
Financial Leverage and Cost of Equity
The effect of financial leverage on the cost of equity is prevalent in the Modigliani Miller capital
structure theory. Since the financial leverage increases the cost of equity, it can be considered one of
the disadvantages of borrowing. As shown in Appendix A, the cost of equity, at each debt to capital
ratio, increases by 0.1% as the financial leverage increases by 10%. With a higher

Essay On Listen To Me America
Corporations make America the money hungry place that is critiqued worldwide. Without the major
corporations we see today, like Walmart, Target, and Mcdonald s, 27 million people would be
unemployed and they are very well aware of that (Zillman, Claire). If these giants embody what is
wrong in America, why should they have the right to contribute to the candidate they want to help
elect? The CEOs of these companies have personal interests they want to protect. These individuals
have earned money on the backs of the 27 million people, we should be protecting Main Street, not
Wall Street. The Federal Election Commission should reserve the right to limit and close the
checkbooks of the people that believe they can buy anything they wish. In the film Citizens of Koch,
republican nominee hopeful Roemer for the 2012 election, said, Listen to me America, you are
unimportant. They do not care about you because you do not bring a check. The agenda of the one
percent is to completely handicap the rest in order to further indulge their enormous pockets. Major
CEOs of Fortune 500 companies believe just because they make more than the rest of the planet they
can practice and manipulate any belief that pops into their brains. A loophole found to deceive the
Federal Election Commision, was to have pop up corporations that disappear as fast as they appear,
come election time. These corporations are called shell corporations. Shell corporations are called

Characteristics Of Phinenys In A Separate Peace
What characteristics do leaders embody? Leaders are considered to be strong and caring with no
attention of being paid to their downfalls. In A Separate Peace, Phineas is a leader with flaws, despite
his high standing amongst others. John Knowles characterizes Phineas as a naive and daring static
character in his novel A Separate Peace by employing dialogue, action, and Gene s descriptions and
feelings towards him.
John Knowles implies Phineas is naive through the implementation of dialogue. Phineas confesses to
Gene that [he] hope[s] [Gene is] having a pretty good time here... you can t come by yourself, and at
this teenage period in life the proper person is your best pal (48). The boys live in a masculine society,
which places an emphasis on strength. To expose one s feelings to someone else is considered social
suicide. Therefore, Gene takes advantage of Phineas naiveté by not responding to his declaration of
friendship. Phineas also asserts that when you really love something, then it loves you back, in
whatever way it has to love (111). Phineas philosophy centers around a world of youth of peace; he
always attempts to find the best in everyone. This naive attitude contrasts with the cruel nature of the
world, where wars and competitions are common occurrences. At Gene s trial for Phineas fall, Phineas
asks Gene if [he] was down at the bottom (170) in a concerned, friendly tone. Phineas fears of Gene s
betrayal; he cannot believe that his friend would have the urge to push him out the tree. In order to
protect his high opinion of Gene, he alters the past in his mind to avoid facing the truth. This
emphasizes his naiveté as the true events do not align with what Phineas made up in his mind. At the
hospital after Phineas s second fall, following the trial, Gene explains to Phineas that he would get
things so scrambled up nobody would know who to fight any more and that [he would] make a mess,
a terrible mess...out of the war (191). Phineas world does not hold any fights or enmity. His good
character is unrealistic in this world. Consequently, the war would drive him to madness.
John Knowles characterizes Phineas as daring through his actions. Phineas wears a pink shirt as an
emblem to

Rock guitarists are turned into icons, legends, and heros for music lovers. They influence many kids
and adults to pick up the guitar and spend countless hours trying to replicate their favorite player.
Guitar solos can help compliment the song and make the listener keep coming back for that 30 to 60
seconds of destruction. This is what makes guitar players so important and essential in a rock band
and many times they become the main figure. The best players have developed their own styles and
sounds that are unique to them. This is what makes playing so extraordinary, the artists sound different
from one another. This is crucial to keep in mind while learning because a lot of the time this diversity

Tom Morello can play lightning fast solo s but his preference is a much more simpler approach. He

outer space sounds that don t sound like like a guitar. He achieves this by using lots of guitar effects
and pedals. The most common of his effects are the octave up and the kill switch. On lots of his solos
he will turn on an octave pedal which means an octave up will be additionally added to whatever he is
playing in that moment. These solos will consist of two or more octaves giving him a unique sparkly
sound. Tom Morello will often use a kill switch in his playing meaning whenever the switch is
engaged it cuts the sound. He has created a very unique style with this switch, he is able to sustain a
note with his left hand while cutting it in and out with his right. This gives him a very rhythmic style
which adds to his own

Similarities Between The Puritans And William Penn
Both the Puritans and William Penn Viewed their colonies as holy experiments . How did they differ?
Penn viewed his colony as a colony in which everyone was treated equally, including blacks, women
and the Native Americans. This was unlike the Puritans who believed in slave labor and that women
should not be able to conduct their own business(aside from being literal, holding public office or
voting). The quakers in Pennsylvania believed that everyone had the same rights and liberties, Foner
writes, To Quakers, liberty was a universal entitlement, not the possession of any single people a
position that would eventually make them the first group of whites to repudiate slavery. (Foner 100)

Being Simply Contrary To Be Cool And Popular Thing
The Bureau of Justice Statistics, US Department of Health and Human Services stated that fifty two
percent of students have been cyber bullied. Being spiteful and malicious has become cool as seen in
characters in movies and television shows while being helpful and kind to others has become a huge
gesture and is sometimes looked down upon. So can kindness become cool? Contrary to popular belief
from the media, I think being rude isn t cool and being kind should be cool and the popular thing to
do. In a world with different opinions and views comes conflict. Some people bully those who don t
act and don t look like them. In the world this leads to harsh judgment and nasty comments. In high
school, this separation leads to cliques in schools and people feeling lonely. The cliques typically have
members who are popular. Popular is defined as being well liked and desired among others. I expect
the popular kids to be well liked because they are compassionate to others, however, that isn t usually
the case. Usually kids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cool thing to do, therefore, it can be ignored or taken out of context (Slavin).
One huge way young teenagers see that bullying is okay is by looking to media and the characters in
movies. There have been numerous movies made mocking the high school experience and the typical
mean girls are generally included within the plot. Although it is blatantly obvious the mean girls aren t
reputable characters, girls in high school may see them and want to be them due to the attention they

The Role Of Men In The Odyssey
There are no Gods, no kings, only men. Gods do not have power over men because men have free will
and can choose to defy the deity. Men have been known to manipulate the beliefs in God for their own
benefit. By the definition of a God, the God should have complete control over everything, but men
are able to make their own choices and even have to potential to make the Gods mad. Men having
freewill directly contradicts the idea that Gods have complete control over everything. Men even bend
and twist the words of said Gods into their own rhetoric in which they create the illusion of a God and
it s power. In creating their own God, men can intimidate the populous and pretend their deity is all

Activities like blasphemy, robbery, murder and mutilation still occur and there is nothing anyone can
do about it. Such as in the Odyssey when Odysseus blinds the Cyclops, the son of Poseidon. Poseidon
is powerless and can do nothing to help his son, even though his legends claim that he is omnipotent.
In today s world, there is massive shootings and bombings; every time it happens people are told to
pray. Pray for the ones who lost their love ones in such a dangerous attack, pray for the country so
they may be able to recuperate, but if praying really did work these kinds of activities would seize to
happen, this goes to show that Gods have no power over the events of men, and if they do, they don t
care to use it. Praying to a supposed deity is the worst thing a man could do, doing nothing is one
thing, but talking to an all powerful God and asking them for help is not only psychotic, but offensive
to the suffers. If a person really wants to help, sitting on their ass and talking to the air won t help
anyone, if they really want to help, they ll donate money, go to said country and help take care of the
injured, or even donate blood and organs, but speaking to someone who obviously isn t listening is a
lost cause. If Gods really wanted men to believe in them, they d somehow demonstrate their power,

Frequent subgraph mining (FSM) is a crucial task for explorative information analysis on graph
information. Over the years, several algorithms are planned to unravel this task. These algorithms
assume that the information structure of the mining task is tiny enough to suit within the main memory

March 22 School Bombing Essay
The U.S military aircraft bombed a school where in many students are currently in their classrooms.
The aircraft also bombed a crowded marketplace that attacks killed dozens of civilians in Syria this
March. The Investigators who visited the sites and interviewed locals and survivors found that the
strikes had caused huge numbers of civilian deaths. The documentation adds to a drumbeat of
criticism about a U.S. air campaign in Syria that has already been accused of inflicting massive
civilian casualties in support of ground operations against Islamic State by the U.S. backed Syrian
Democratic Forces. Suddenly the the civilians who had died in the bombings, is at least 84 civilians

particularly mystifying to Human Rights Watch investigators. The lines of people should have been

Racism, Class, And Gender Discrimination
Social injustices are unfortunately still prevalent in today s modern society. Racism has come a far
way due to many social movements, however it still remains ingrained and institutionalized in various
forms. Race is a cause of political and economic interest who stratified groups in order to gain more
power. The government created social regulations to prevent social inequalities due to race, class, and
gender to take place. Despite social regulations racism still is a part of out present day society. Article
34 by Christine Williams discussed discrimination in the forms of class, gender, and race to women in
particular. Stratification leads to racial and gender discrimination in companies towards employees
and customers. This is an analysis of discrimination in the workforce to colored woman as well as
businesses discrimination to colored consumers. Reading Racism in Toyland describes the experiences
and observations of a white woman while working at two different toy stores. She talked about how in
one of the toy stores the employees were diverse however the few whites working at the store were
cashiers. They were put as cashiers because they re the ones that interact with the customers the most
therefore seen as the face of the company . The hire end toy store Williams worked at lacked diversity
and the few colored employees that worked there were discriminated against. Williams noticed how
the customers tended to be disrespectful to the colored cashiers, the

Sonnet 71 By William Shakespeare
Sonnet 71 by William Shakespeare
Sonnet 71 theme is love; reputation, death and mood is mournful The speaker reflects on his life, and
he states his last wishes are to forget him. The speaker is worried that his reputation if that should
surface that it will cause pain and anguish to his wife. This sonnet has a role reversal, persuasion to
entirely forget the poet and not to dwell on the poets death or the painful past it may cause. The sonnet
71 is in four quadrants this is rhyme pattern as abab cdcd efef volta gg and iambic pentameter.
Shakespeare uses five in each line this concludes a pentameter. The significant of the Sonnet 71,
speaks of coping with sorrow and fear, humiliated, and concerns causing pain, because of the
difficulty and interruption, and the speaker wants lover to remember only good memories.
Line 1 No longer mourn for me when I am dead the speakers are still alive, he is reassuring his wife
that it is okay to let go. The poet cannot escape from death, and his wish is that his partner should not
live in pain. The speaker apparently wants his partner to move on with his life. This line also shows
that no one can escape from death. The second Line Then you shall hear the surly sullen bell this line
has a better understanding poem and interpretation on grief, it is time to let go and let the poet die in
peace. In a way, the poet is done with this world and wants to be free. The third line Give warning to

Why Is It Hard To Buy Their Shoes In Julius Caesar
(http://www.oed.com/view/Entry/35218?redirectedFrom=cobbler#eid). Cobblers worked very hard to
fix the townspeople s shoes so that they would be able to earn enough money to be able to buy their
own shoes. In Shakespeare s time, shoes could not just be given away to those less fortunate like we
may give shoes to Goodwill or The ARC today. Those who had more money may have been able to
own more than one pair of shoes, but many people in Shakespeare s time did not have money and had
to work for a living for themselves and their family. In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare,
we see just how desperate a cobbler was for money to support himself and a family he may have had:

Another option is to donate shoes to Nike who will take them reuse the material of the shoes and
recycle it into outdoor running tracks and indoor basketball courts. This recycling of shoes can relate
back to the cobbler in Julius Caesar because the cobbler is fixing shoes; shoes are not getting thrown
away and another word for reusing shoes is recycling. The cobbler is recycling these shoes and
making them new again for those who cannot go out and buy several pairs of shoes or shoes made out
of material other than leather. Most of the shoes made in this time period were made of leather. I know
that real leather in the 21st century is pretty expensive, so there had to be some change in how it is
made and conditioned that makes it more popular than it could have been then. But I also do not know
what other material shoes in Shakespeare s time period would have been made of that would have
lasted. It is kind of a relief to see that recycling was not just something new that the past few
generations are thinking of though. I am sure that commoners and the upper class people alive when
Shakespeare was alive had no idea how throwing away items that could still be used would be such a
waste and would hurt our environment. They probably did not even know what waste was though;
they probably used everything they had until it could not be

I worked with Sally Joe over the course of the semester and it was a wonderful time, at the beginning
she did not really want to open up to me but towards the end I could not get her to quit talking. She is
a remarkable young lady and I am so happy I got to work with her over the course of the semester.
Sally Joe is sixteen years old and lives in Coeburn, Virginia with her mother and father. She has 3
siblings, two older brothers and older sister. Sally is spending some time at Eastside High School in
Coeburn and she is spending the other half of the day at the Technical School in Wise, which is fifteen
minutes away from her high school. She is taking Marketing, English 9, Life Skills, and L.I.F.E. Some

She would be trained to stock shelves, working as a cashier, and being a helpful employee. She would
fit perfectly into a part time Food City because of her experience. She would be able to walk into this
job and not have too much of problems except for adjusting to the new system that would the only
major problem that Sally would possibly have. She would have to learn about stocking shelves at
Food City and their way of doing things at Food City.
Recommendations
The best advice I can give Sally is to continue to do well in school and continue to ease her way out of
her shyness. She struggles with her marketing class and I believe to major in business she would have
to work really hard to obtain this degree.
Another step Sally could take to brighten her future would be to talk more and engage in conversation
as well. She was extremely shy and nervous around me at first, but after working with her a little
while she finally started opening up. I believe in order to work with the public in general you have to
have a personality.
Sally needs to pay especially in detail when she begins to work at Dud s and Dough so she can take
that experience and put it towards her future

for using the free cash flow they have to research and see what areas they could make improvements
in. It seems that the most significant assets that Dollar Tree has is in their inventories. This is the
largest part of their assets. They also have some intangible assets that account for about 35% of their
total assets. The liabilities that Dollar Tree has are in the form of accounts payable. They do not have

money, Dollar General has a high debt/equity ratio (dollargeneral.com, 2013). This is due in part to the
expansion of their business into the supermarket industry. With going into this industry, it means
having to use debt to open up new stores and all the costs associated with opening a new business in a

Comparing Two Poems
Compare and Contrast Poems can have many types of hidden messages. It all depends on how you
interpret them. In poems somethings are literal and others are just figurative. My two poems are The
Village Blacksmith by famous poet, Emily Dickinson, and Morning Song by another well known poet,
Sylvia Plath. The Village Blacksmith is about the dedication it takes to not only be a blacksmith, but to
also be a single parent. Morning Song is about a new mom that learns that being a parent isn t what it
is cracked up to be. The poems, Morning Song and The Village Blacksmith both have a lot in common
by both having enjambment, imagery, and stanza. These poems have allowed me understand the
different viewpoints on how parents feel about their kids, weather it is dolorous or adore. ... Show

For example, in The Village Blacksmith the poetic device enjambment is, And Children coming home
from school / Look in at the open door (20). The reason why I used this line from the poem is because
the sentence isn t finished, but it continues onto another line. It ends on the word school and continues
on the next line from the word look. The example of the poetic device in the poem, Morning Song is I
m no more your mother / Than the clouds that distil a mirror to reflect its own slow / Effacement at the
wind s hand (7 9). Enjambment happens in this line three times, so this makes it a strong example.
Both of these are great examples that can unmistakably show what the poetic device, enjambment

The Declaration Of Independence And Its Effect On The...
During the time leading up to July 4th, 1776, the colonies were ruled by King George III. Tyranny
took hold of the colonies until Thomas Jefferson created The Declaration of Independence. In this
document Jefferson stated numerous grievances against the king and depicted those hardships that the
colonies experienced under his rule. Historians have come to debate whether these accusations were
true or exaggerated. Many historical events demonstrate how these grievances had a negative effect on
the colonies. Many of the colonies felt that laws were passed to benefit King George III without
considering the needs of the colonies. One of the grievances noted, He has kept among us, in times of
peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. This grievance is supported by factual
events that occurred during the 1700 s. After the French War, King George III did not withdraw
soldiers from the colonies. On March 24th, 1765, Parliament passed the Quartering Act. This required
the colonies to pay or find shelter for the British Soldiers. Many of the colonies did not support this
law and refused to take part. This act was passed without the input and approval of the colonies. This
is demonstrated by New York s refusal to comply with the newly passed law due to feeling as though
they were forced. This negatively affected the colonist because soldiers were taking over their homes
and eating all the food. Due to noncooperation Parliament passed the New York Restraining

Another example is when Linda moves to Boston, she has mixed feelings of joining the church s
worship ceremony. She asks herself: should they preach from their text, Proclaim liberty to the
captive, and the opening of prison doors to them that are bound ? (Isaiah 61.1) or will they preach
from my text, Do unto others as ye would they should do unto you ? (Mathew 7.12) (1827). Linda
feels lost and not sure what to do. She asks God to forgive her and relief herself saying: the scripture
says Oppression makes even a wise man mad ; (Ecclesiasters) (1827). It looks like Linda was a good
believer but she was not sure how to act in such a contradicting world. On the other hand, Rowlandon
s narrative is even richer than Jacob s with religious tendency and Biblical quotes. Rowlandson s
narrative has Christian references at least once in almost every paragraph. Unlike Jacobs who s main
purpose for her narrative is not religious but to portray the miserable life of slaves, Rowlandson s
purpose of her narrative is basically about Christian believes. She wanted to show that redemption is
both release from captivity and assurance of salvation (Reagan). Her narrative is full of examples that

Analysis Of Stop All The Clocks
W. H. Auden s poem, Stop all the clocks, expresses the meaning of massive grief, a tragic loss, and a
tireless hopelessness best represented in the last lines, For nothing now can ever come to any good.
Personally the mood of the poem felt a bit depressing and a sadness that I know all too well. The title
and first line of the poem explains the author s heartbroken grief by including the audience to do
something which we all know is not possible, Stop all the clocks. This itself let us know that time
could not be stopped, yet when a loved one has pass it feels like at that particular time we don t want
to believe that the love of our life is gone. So we want the clocks to stop. The time could also signify

The funeral parade described in lines 7 and 8 serves to further represent both the importance of the
deceased and the grief caused by this person s death. The third verse, especially lines 9, 10, and 11,
again bring the closeness of the relationship between the author and the deceased. The author shows
great respect for this person by using overstatement, figure of speech to imply how important this
person meant to the author. In line 9, He was my North, my South, my East and West, indicates the
intimacy between the two individuals and incorporated with the next line, My working week and my
Sunday rest, indicates their relationship to be of a very devoted nature. This is also stated in line 12, I
thought that love would last forever: I was wrong. This can be interpreted to represent the speaker s
unawareness toward an inescapable death. The author s love for this man is very rare as he can
describe it, to the points of end of time. This love between them is so strong that anyone reading this
poem would believe their love will last forever, but as you read on you realize not until the death of
this person that he loved; was the realization made that this thing called love, like everything else,
must and will come to an end. The last verse mainly line 16 states the hopelessness of the

The new exhibit at the HCC Central Art Gallery discusses the possibilities of engineered wood after it

Wood has been an important construction material since humans first built shelters, tools, and

Introduction
Acetaminophen was first introduced in 1955 (Richman, 2004). It is an over the counter drug that
relieves pain and reduced fevers. Acetaminophen is considered an alternate to aspirin since it does not
irritate the stomach (Richman, 2004). It also has very low toxicity is it is used properly.
Acetaminophen is cheap and easily obtainable from any pharmacy.

Questions
1. a) If 20 mL of water were added for every 1g of crude product then crystallization would occur in
less quantity or not occur at all. As the solution is dissolved, heated, and later cooled, the impurities of
the solution remain in the solution. As more solvent is added, more of the product will remain in the
solution rather than crystallizing; hence, a much lower yield would be obtained.
b) If 5mL of water were added for every 1g of crude product then one of two things would happen; the
solid would not dissolve or the impurities would still be present within the product. The solvent is
used to dissolve all the impurities of the crude product and if less solvent is available, the impurities
would remain within the product.
c) If room temperature solvent was used rather than cold solvent then more of the product will remain
in the solution. As temperature increases, solubility also increases in most cases, which would keep
some of the product dissolved resulting in a lower yield.
2. a) An organic compound is any compound that contains carbon, generally, are large chains of

  • 2. Do Nightmares Have More Negative Emotions Before And After... Purpose The purpose of this article is to examine whether people who frequently suffer from nightmares have more stress and stronger negative emotions before and after sleep than people who do not frequently suffer from nightmares. The study investigates a sample dream of the people who frequently suffer from nightmares to see if their experienced emotions are more negative than the people who do not suffer from frequent nightmares. To collect the results in the study, four questionnaires are used. Key Concepts, Tenets, and/or Findings The hypothesis of the study is that participants who have at least one nightmare per week will have more negative emotions in their dreams than the ones who have nightmares less than once a month; also, that the nightmare sufferers will have more stress in the morning and evening than the non nightmare sufferers. An experimental study was performed using participants from a larger Canadian dream study. They selected sixty participants based on the criteria that they either had nightmares at least once a week, or they had nightmares less than once a month. The participants ages ranged from 13 to 58. The participants were split into two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cinque, leader of the slaves that in 1839 over took La Amistad ship transporting Sienna Leon slaves to Cuba. Killing much of the crew, including the Captain of the ship, unable to bring the ship back to Sienna Leon they ended up along the American east coast and they captured by the United States Navy. Due to language barriers, Americans imprisoned the slaves as runaway slaves. Capturing the attention of abolitionist lawyer, Roger Baldwin, he was able to collect evidence and present a strong case which took them all the way to the U.S Supreme Court. He enlisted the help of John Quincy Adams eloquent closing argument ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can argue that because director, Steven Spielberg is white, the film is not focused the blacks, the slaves heroes fighting for their freedom, instead much of the films time is dedicated and centered on white lawyers, abolitionist, and political figures Americans. The film doesn t failed to historically portray and left out that the Amistad slaves in reality didn t have much interactions with whites and they were definitely not present in the court room, Amistad slaves spent their time lock behind bars and exploited by abolitionists (Jones, 1998). Furthermore, scenes that showed Joadson and Cinque visiting John Quincy Adams s house is entirely fabricated, especially the scene were Cinque is in Adams garden recognizes and holds an African violet, nonexistent in Sierra Leone, used by film makers in order to draw the audience and relate to Cinque. On the other hand, the film distorts race, during that time the American public still had strict racial codes, meaning that fictional character Joadson would not be associated with white American abolitionists, presidents and Supreme Court judges. Another factual error, is the rumors and talks of American politicians and society about the upcoming Civil War, which in reality takes place about 20 years after the Amistad ... • 4. Essay about Wrestling Match Loss Wrestling Match Loss As I crawled off of the mat in anguish, I couldn t believe that I let it happen again. My one chance to settle the score and truly prove that I was better, was gone. My coaches and friends tried to tell me how good I did and how lucky he got, but it only made the pain worse. They put into perspective exactly how close I was to beating him, and it just made me think more. Think about how this was his last year, and how I would never be able to avenge my defeat. It made me feel like everything that I had worked for all season was lost in a split second, one that I couldn t take back. The 2000 2001 wrestling season started off the same as any other with tormenting practices and the effort to get in as good of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thought of regionals and state were starting to come up a little more this late in the year. I knew that I would have to wrestle Roy again, one way or another. Regionals came up before I knew it and I won my first and second matches easily with pins, but I knew my third wouldn t be so easy. Sure enough, I checked the brackets and Roy had won his first two as well. This only meant one thing, Roy and I had a third date. I spent the next couple of hours as a nervous wreck awaiting the match. Then I heard the booming voice of the announcer call out our names and I headed for the mat. The match had little excitement except for a few close calls, and at the end of the third period it was tied 3 3. Overtime is a good place for a Hotchkiss wrestler to be because we are in so much better shape than everyone else. Sure I was in better shape than Roy, but I will have to admit he was a bit stronger, all right a lot stronger. He ended up grabbing my leg with no technique and jerking it to his body. He got me off my feet and took me down. Roy had beat me for the first time in three matches. I had out wrestled him until last 5 seconds when I let my guard down. I was crushed by the defeat and I vowed to myself that if I wrestled him again at state that it wouldn t happen twice. I won my match for third and fourth against a different rival that had beaten me earlier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Concussion Effects In Football Football is a game of simple physics: One player has a ball, and the other players on the field are trying to either protect the ball carrier, or tackle them. The majority of the time, this interaction happens at high speed. Speeds so fast that the parties involved collide into each other with a G Force equivalent to a bowling ball being dropped on a head from 8 feet high. Bone crushing hits and flying tackles are all part of what makes the sports fun to watch. That being said, football is a beautifully violent game, which is the reason why so many Americans simultaneously appreciate and fear the sport. It s the reason people cheer when a cornerback like Richard Sherman makes a tackle or a linebacker hits their opponent hard enough, they retire from the sport. It s also the reason why one in three players will experience some form of brain trauma during their career. On a professional level, the number of concussions diagnosed in the National Football League (NFL) has increased by 58 percent during the regular. Kids, however, have also been reported to experience brain injuries while on the field. Football has a serious problem with head injuries, and after years of outright denial, organizations across the country are finally acknowledging it through payouts, research grants, and initiatives like the Head Health Challenge, which gives grants to companies working on advancements in football related head health. One of those grants recipients was VICIS, a Seattle based company who s designed a new, flexible helmet called Zero1. What s inside the helmet? VICIS helmets use a form of engineering that is unique from how helmets have been made in the past. According to their website, the helmet is made with layers (like a parfait), and those layers work together to lessen the impact of a hit, both as they occur and over a period of time. The helmet also features a soft outer shell and an underlying layer of columns designed to weaken collisions from multiple directions. Columns: The columns refer to the VICIS reflex system. The helmet, for instance, is designed with a series of plates that work to help reduce the trauma behind major collisions. As the helmet start to fold and yield, it absorbs the blow ... • 6. Stereotypes Of Leadership In The Film Strictly Ballroom While watching Strictly Ballroom I was intrigued on how this movie would relate to our learnings about leadership thus far. As I was watching the movie the stage was set as what the outcome would become but the journey to get there was interesting to watch as the story unfolded. I found each character a stereotype of a leader learned thus far, but the most interesting for me was that of Barry Fife. Barry Fife, who is the president of the Australian Dancing Federation demonstrates a leader frantically holding on to his status with, position power. He demonstrates this by use of title, reward, coercive and information power. (Northhouse, 2016 p 11 12) An illustration of this is when Fife disqualifies of Scott and his partner when he shows ... • 8. Zoroastrianism s Influence On The Formation Of Christianity Zoroastrianism was a huge influence on the formation of Christianity. There are multiple links between the two religions while Zoroastrianism pre dates Christianity by hundreds of years. The evidence found through archaeological discovery and from the beliefs of present day Zoroastrianists points to one conclusion: that although Christianity and Zoroastrianism are seen as two very different religions, their cosmologies are so intertwined that is hard to tell which came first until looking at the physical evidence. The core beliefs are similar and how each religion predicts what will happen at the end of time are, as well. For some Christians, it hard to look at the evidence without it shaking their beliefs, but by taking an outsider s perspective, one can begin see that religions are evolving throughout the millennia. Three main topics arise when comparing the two religions: the creation story, the story of the savior, and the revelation story. The relationships between these two religions shows that religions may not only be divinely inspired, but also inspired from past religions. This gives people the idea that faith evolves through the ages to better suit the current culture or state of society. • 9. The Effect Of Concentration Of Sucrose On The Dialysis ariables The independent variable was the concentration of sucrose in the dialysis tubing we used as a simulated membrane. The dependent variable was the percent increase in mass of the dialysis tubing. We can use this to compare how osmosis increases or decreases as solute concentration increases. Hypothesis We hypothesize that as the solute concentration increases, more water will diffuse into the dialysis tubing (shown by a greater percent increase in mass). We know that water will move through a membrane from more free water to less free water. The higher the solute concentration is, the less free water there is. All of the sucrose solutions are being put in pure water, but the ones with the most sucrose will need the most water to diffuse inside and bring the free water levels to equilibrium, and the ones with less will need less water to diffuse. Expectations If the hypothesis is correct, the masses after we place the tubing samples in water will be higher than the masses before. We will see the greatest % increase in mass in the highest concentration of sucrose (1.0 M). The % increase will get lower as concentration decreases. All of the samples should have some increase in mass because we are placing them in distilled water. Based on the known solutions, the data should yield a mathematical model relating concentration and % increase, which we can use to find the concentration of the unknown solution. Methods We used the methods provided for us in the lab book. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Global Climate Change Is The Future Of The Entire Generation Global climate change transcends the future of the entire generation. Yunjing Wang mentions that the world is expecting warming that could be dangerous throughout the century (Wang et al., 2015). Not only effecting species of animals but also determining the presence of human existence. New diseases prevail on a daily basis specifically vector borne. These vector borne illnesses adapt to climate change due to temperature fluctuations, constant precipitation, and population adjustments. Although diseases such as Malaria and Zika are being researched on a daily basis, preventative measures for diseases caused by climate change are being acted upon by many organizations. If a steady climate can arise in the near future, virulence of many climate related diseases will eventually decline. The dynamics of climate influence virulence due to unstable temperatures. The effects on the quality of life creates vulnerability to those that surround these virulent environments. It is referenced that extreme outbreaks occur after major disturbances to the population (McMichael, 2015). These climatic events tend to trigger microbes, pathogens, and hosts to start infecting the nearest populous whether it be animal or human. As McMichael mentions, microbes have the capacity that is stronger willed than any biotechnological application and can reproduce a stable metabolism and maintain a relationship in the most severe disturbance (2015). The video advertisements, banner advertisements, interstitial advertisements, and in app purchases are the most popular and most effective way to gain money from this mobile application, and they will be used. Advertisements have become more popular within the past few years. The reason for this is because this generation, Generation X, is much more virtual friendly and much more reliant on technology. Bert Markgraf, the freelance writer and graduate of McGill University, speaks about this, saying: Mobile advertising has been increasing rapidly, both in volume and value. Over the last three months of 2012, average mobile ad rates increased by 50 percent and they retained most of the increase in January 2013. Effective CPM rates ranged from $0.53 for an Android device in October 2012 to $1.12 for an iOS device in December 2012. In January 2013, eCPM rates for Android devices remained high at $0.88 while those for iOS devices decreased from their peak to $1.08. iOS devices achieved consistently higher rates than Android devices by about 30 percent. With this information on hand, it is clear that making money using advertisements from mobile applications is not as challenging as it was five years ago. Every year, technology is getting more and more advanced, and there are more roads to making easy money through mobile applications. To make an application, one needs an ... Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvesting systems can be designed. The first one will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester will be integrated in the clothes of the worker. As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors and actuators. • 13. Ethical Issues In Iron Man In the 2008 movie Iron Man, Tony Stark makes a variety of significant ethical decisions as he goes through his transformation from selfish, irresponsible billionaire and genius, to slightly less selfish and slightly less irresponsible billionaire, genius and superhero. One of the earliest of these decisions that we see is his general irresponsibility about how the weapons that he manufactures are used, and more importantly, who has access to them. Although one could argue that this isn t a decision that he makes and instead is just ignorance to the goings on of his company, I would argue that as the owner of a large weapons manufacturing company, Tony Stark has a responsibility to be aware of what goes on in his company, at least to some extent, and so he decides the extent to which he will take on this responsibility. Later in the film, Tony Stark makes another significant ethical decision when he decides to fly back to the middle east and destroy terrorist s stockpiles of Stark Industries weapons. In addition to destroying these weapons, Stark also decides to kill a large group of terrorists. In superhero movies, the writers and directors tend to make it very clear when we are supposed to feel that the hero is doing the right thing and when he is doing the wrong thing. Consequently, this sequence is portrayed very heroically with clearly defined good guys and bad guys and no negative consequences. Led by Chief Financial Officer Susan Collyns, the financial team of CPK was reviewing the preliminary results for the second quarter to determine if the stock repurchase program would provide a significant financial leverage for the company. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only would this benefit the company, but would also benefit the stakeholders who just received the additional 50% stock dividend that CPK issued. Financial Leverage on WACC When analyzing which debt financing option CPK should choose, the weight average cost of capital (WACC) will provide an approximation on how much CPK must earn in order to satisfy the amount financed. The values of WACC for the actual, 10%, 20%, and 30% options can be found in Appendix A. It appears that the higher the financial leverage, the lower the WACC will be. Take for instance if CPK chooses a 30% debt to capital situation, the ROE will be 11.1 % with a 9.2% WACC. In contrast, at the actual value, the ROE is 9% with the WACC being 9.5% and could pose badly for CPK. As long as CPK is comfortable with the high risk of a 30% debt to capital ratio, then it would be the most beneficial in terms of adding economic value to the company, and for the shareholders, while providing a high financial leverage. Financial Leverage and Cost of Equity The effect of financial leverage on the cost of equity is prevalent in the Modigliani Miller capital structure theory. Since the financial leverage increases the cost of equity, it can be considered one of the disadvantages of borrowing. As shown in Appendix A, the cost of equity, at each debt to capital ratio, increases by 0.1% as the financial leverage increases by 10%. With a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Characteristics Of Phinenys In A Separate Peace What characteristics do leaders embody? Leaders are considered to be strong and caring with no attention of being paid to their downfalls. In A Separate Peace, Phineas is a leader with flaws, despite his high standing amongst others. John Knowles characterizes Phineas as a naive and daring static character in his novel A Separate Peace by employing dialogue, action, and Gene s descriptions and feelings towards him. John Knowles implies Phineas is naive through the implementation of dialogue. Phineas confesses to Gene that [he] hope[s] [Gene is] having a pretty good time here... you can t come by yourself, and at this teenage period in life the proper person is your best pal (48). The boys live in a masculine society, which places an emphasis on strength. To expose one s feelings to someone else is considered social suicide. Therefore, Gene takes advantage of Phineas naiveté by not responding to his declaration of friendship. Phineas also asserts that when you really love something, then it loves you back, in whatever way it has to love (111). Phineas philosophy centers around a world of youth of peace; he always attempts to find the best in everyone. This naive attitude contrasts with the cruel nature of the world, where wars and competitions are common occurrences. At Gene s trial for Phineas fall, Phineas asks Gene if [he] was down at the bottom (170) in a concerned, friendly tone. Phineas fears of Gene s betrayal; he cannot believe that his friend would have the urge to push him out the tree. In order to protect his high opinion of Gene, he alters the past in his mind to avoid facing the truth. This emphasizes his naiveté as the true events do not align with what Phineas made up in his mind. At the hospital after Phineas s second fall, following the trial, Gene explains to Phineas that he would get things so scrambled up nobody would know who to fight any more and that [he would] make a mess, a terrible mess...out of the war (191). They do not have very much long term debt. Their long term debt accounts for less than 10% of the total liabilities. Dollar General Dollar General has a lot of revenue. In 2013, they reported $16,200,000. The main assets for this company are their inventory. In 2013, their inventory assets were recorded at $2,397,200. No one can argue the fact that they are not making money. Even though they are making money, Dollar General has a high debt/equity ratio (dollargeneral.com, 2013). This is due in part to the expansion of their business into the supermarket industry. With going into this industry, it means having to use debt to open up new stores and all the costs associated with opening a new business in a different industry. While the debt is high, they still have a lot of revenue each year. I do not see having a lot of debt for Dollar General ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Comparing Two Poems Compare and Contrast Poems can have many types of hidden messages. It all depends on how you interpret them. In poems somethings are literal and others are just figurative. My two poems are The Village Blacksmith by famous poet, Emily Dickinson, and Morning Song by another well known poet, Sylvia Plath. The Village Blacksmith is about the dedication it takes to not only be a blacksmith, but to also be a single parent. Morning Song is about a new mom that learns that being a parent isn t what it is cracked up to be. The poems, Morning Song and The Village Blacksmith both have a lot in common by both having enjambment, imagery, and stanza. These poems have allowed me understand the different viewpoints on how parents feel about their kids, weather it is dolorous or adore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in The Village Blacksmith the poetic device enjambment is, And Children coming home from school / Look in at the open door (20). The reason why I used this line from the poem is because the sentence isn t finished, but it continues onto another line. It ends on the word school and continues on the next line from the word look. The example of the poetic device in the poem, Morning Song is I m no more your mother / Than the clouds that distil a mirror to reflect its own slow / Effacement at the wind s hand (7 9). Enjambment happens in this line three times, so this makes it a strong example. Both of these are great examples that can unmistakably show what the poetic device, enjambment ... • 31. The Declaration Of Independence And Its Effect On The... During the time leading up to July 4th, 1776, the colonies were ruled by King George III. Tyranny took hold of the colonies until Thomas Jefferson created The Declaration of Independence. In this document Jefferson stated numerous grievances against the king and depicted those hardships that the colonies experienced under his rule. Historians have come to debate whether these accusations were true or exaggerated. Many historical events demonstrate how these grievances had a negative effect on the colonies. Many of the colonies felt that laws were passed to benefit King George III without considering the needs of the colonies. One of the grievances noted, He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. This grievance is supported by factual events that occurred during the 1700 s. After the French War, King George III did not withdraw soldiers from the colonies. On March 24th, 1765, Parliament passed the Quartering Act. This required the colonies to pay or find shelter for the British Soldiers. Many of the colonies did not support this law and refused to take part. This act was passed without the input and approval of the colonies. This is demonstrated by New York s refusal to comply with the newly passed law due to feeling as though they were forced. This negatively affected the colonist because soldiers were taking over their homes and eating all the food. Due to noncooperation Parliament passed the New York Restraining ... Another example is when Linda moves to Boston, she has mixed feelings of joining the church s worship ceremony. She asks herself: should they preach from their text, Proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of prison doors to them that are bound ? (Isaiah 61.1) or will they preach from my text, Do unto others as ye would they should do unto you ? (Mathew 7.12) (1827). Linda feels lost and not sure what to do. She asks God to forgive her and relief herself saying: the scripture says Oppression makes even a wise man mad ; (Ecclesiasters) (1827). It looks like Linda was a good believer but she was not sure how to act in such a contradicting world. On the other hand, Rowlandon s narrative is even richer than Jacob s with religious tendency and Biblical quotes. Rowlandson s narrative has Christian references at least once in almost every paragraph. Unlike Jacobs who s main purpose for her narrative is not religious but to portray the miserable life of slaves, Rowlandson s purpose of her narrative is basically about Christian believes. She wanted to show that redemption is both release from captivity and assurance of salvation (Reagan). Her narrative is full of examples that show her strong believe in God during very tough situations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis Of Stop All The Clocks W. H. Auden s poem, Stop all the clocks, expresses the meaning of massive grief, a tragic loss, and a tireless hopelessness best represented in the last lines, For nothing now can ever come to any good. Personally the mood of the poem felt a bit depressing and a sadness that I know all too well. The title and first line of the poem explains the author s heartbroken grief by including the audience to do something which we all know is not possible, Stop all the clocks. This itself let us know that time could not be stopped, yet when a loved one has pass it feels like at that particular time we don t want to believe that the love of our life is gone. So we want the clocks to stop. The time could also signify to the death and shortness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The funeral parade described in lines 7 and 8 serves to further represent both the importance of the deceased and the grief caused by this person s death. The third verse, especially lines 9, 10, and 11, again bring the closeness of the relationship between the author and the deceased. The author shows great respect for this person by using overstatement, figure of speech to imply how important this person meant to the author. In line 9, He was my North, my South, my East and West, indicates the intimacy between the two individuals and incorporated with the next line, My working week and my Sunday rest, indicates their relationship to be of a very devoted nature. This is also stated in line 12, I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong. This can be interpreted to represent the speaker s unawareness toward an inescapable death. The author s love for this man is very rare as he can describe it, to the points of end of time. This love between them is so strong that anyone reading this poem would believe their love will last forever, but as you read on you realize not until the death of this person that he loved; was the realization made that this thing called love, like everything else, must and will come to an end. The last verse mainly line 16 states the hopelessness of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. With The Bear Analysis The new exhibit at the HCC Central Art Gallery discusses the possibilities of engineered wood after it no longer serves its original purpose. Wood has been an important construction material since humans first built shelters, tools, and furniture. Yet no structure can last forever, and once a building has fallen, or a table is no longer suitable, the materials are tossed aside, discarded. There they lay to deteriorate, unless broken down and used as raw material for another purpose. With The Grain is an exhibition about that repurposing. Eight artists, Raina Chamberlain, Dan Havel, Alex Larsen, Jesse Lott, Edward Lane McCartney, Page Piland, Patrick Renner and Dean Ruck, use reclaimed wood to recontextualize our interaction with the product. The materials are given a new life in the public space. A number of significant pieces fill the room. Synthesis of Acetaminophen Essay Synthesis of Acetaminophen Lab Report Bijal Patel, 20467049 Partner: Poojan Parikh T.A. s: Long Pu CHEM 123L, Section: 006, Rm: ESC 149 Tuesday February 4, 2013, 2:30pm 5:20pm Experiment Done: Tuesday January 22, 2013 Introduction Acetaminophen was first introduced in 1955 (Richman, 2004). It is an over the counter drug that relieves pain and reduced fevers. Acetaminophen is considered an alternate to aspirin since it does not irritate the stomach (Richman, 2004). It also has very low toxicity is it is used properly. Acetaminophen is cheap and easily obtainable from any pharmacy. There were very few, if any, errors made during this lab. Questions 1. a) If 20 mL of water were added for every 1g of crude product then crystallization would occur in less quantity or not occur at all. As the solution is dissolved, heated, and later cooled, the impurities of the solution remain in the solution. As more solvent is added, more of the product will remain in the solution rather than crystallizing; hence, a much lower yield would be obtained. b) If 5mL of water were added for every 1g of crude product then one of two things would happen; the solid would not dissolve or the impurities would still be present within the product. The solvent is used to dissolve all the impurities of the crude product and if less solvent is available, the impurities would remain within the product. c) If room temperature solvent was used rather than cold solvent then more of the product will remain in the solution. As temperature increases, solubility also increases in most cases, which would keep some of the product dissolved resulting in a lower yield. 2. a) An organic compound is any compound that contains carbon, generally, are large chains of carbon that are covalently bonded.
