A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

How to Add Chatter in the odoo 17 ERP ModuleCeline George
In Odoo, the chatter is like a chat tool that helps you work together on records. You can leave notes and track things, making it easier to talk with your team and partners. Inside chatter, all communication history, activity, and changes will be displayed.
3. Research
• The research that I did helped as it gave me creativity and ideas for my
own magazine design. Looking at all ready existing products can give you
little tweaks and additions to make to your own work.
• Looking at other products can help as they may give you additional
information on how to lay out the magazine.
• Viewing other magazine designs could influence you into making a design
too similar to all ready existing magazines.
• I could of looked at more magazine designs but I wanted to have my own
design and not be influenced as much by others.
4. Planning
• Designing a mood board helped me think of what colours I wanted to use
and also the style I wanted to design the magazine like. The mood board is
also very easy to design and easy to observe, the colour scheme is easy to
show as well.
• Although the mind map is a good idea as you can elaborate on ideas, it
didn’t work for me as I already had a solid idea for what I wanted to do. If I
was to design another, I would use this technique again and try to improve
on it.
5. Time Management
• I feel that I managed my time well, I managed to finish all the work and
still put time and effort into it. I found that the power point work took
longer than the photoshop designs, if I had a little more time, I would use
it for perfecting these photoshop designs.
6. Target Audience Appeal
• For my product to appeal to my target audience, I had to make sure that
images and fonts used would be appealing to a certain demographic. The
way I did this is by choosing images that would relate to people that are
reading. Since Snoop is a strong sports fan, a lot of his following will like
the same thing, this is why I decided to place an NFL logo on the
magazine.
• I had to make sure that the colours used fit the magazine design and
didn’t go against the colour scheme. By doing this I couldn’t use any bright
colours that were far different from colours used in the sport American
football.
• The layout had to be designed in a certain way as it was advertising
football, and had to have similar designs or fonts. The way I did this was by
using a bold strong font which is used in the sport, and I used it for my
spread sheet.
7. Technical Qualities
Both covers have
placed their title
behind the main
image
Sub titles use bold strong
fonts to stand out

8. Aesthetic Qualities
This is my finalised spread sheet. I
feel that the simple colour scheme
of black and grey give it a
professional look, and the font
contributes to this as well. One
simple layer I added to my spread
sheet was a png image of smoke,
which I turned the opacity down on
to add the effect that it is far in the
background, this adds depth to the
whole image as well. I decided to
use a large bold font for the names
of celebrities with quotes
underneath them. I wanted them
to stand out and be noticeable
from a distance.
9. Audience Appeal
Sports fans will be
drawn in by the
NFL logo and will
want to read about
the sport and
what's new.
The title will draw
some people in as it
is the most
recognisable font
that is used for his
name.
Bold fonts for the
celebrities names
allows them to
stand out and
grab readers
attention.
This image will attract the
people that are more fans
of Snoop Dogg than fans of
the sport.
Bold font which
is underlined
tells you that
the question is
important and
worth reading.
10. Technical Qualities
Main image filling

contents page
Gradient similar to
spread sheet and
magazine cover,
following same colour
scheme
For the box with text in
it, I have used the same
colour scheme as the
background, and for the
text I have used a bold
white font which blends
with the box
This image of the dj
decks was edited
using photoshop, to
make it suit the
context page
I decided to use the
same colour scheme as
I did for my magazine
cover and my spread
sheet. I feel it suited
this page a lot as the
image used of Snoop, is
quite formal and high
end. This allows the
shiny gradient to match
the style of photo.
The image of Snoop is
quite comical which
could attract people as
it’s a way they haven’t
seen him before. This
could lead to people
wanting to read on.
12. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the images that were used in the spread
sheet. The image of Snoop in the background
which is partially see through adds layers to the
final image.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Some more text and advertisements could be
placed on the magazine cover.
13. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The layout of the magazine was good, the large
title which was hidden behind the main image
stood out which made the magazine look bold.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Some more images could be placed on the spread
sheet, either advertising or just entertainment.
14. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The way the text was laid out made it look
professional, for example, on the spread sheet,
the first paragraph uses a large letter for the first
word, but then the text goes back to its smaller
size.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– More colour could be added.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree with the feedback that compliments the
font and text. I feel the techniques used gave it a
professional look.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with that there should be more colour
added to them, the colour scheme I went with
was the colours I used.
16. Peer Feedback Summary
I would change some of the layout for my spread sheet and
magazine cover, moving around some of the text boxes and
images and add more to them, such as more entertaining
images to my spread sheet and more information about
prizes and releases to my magazine cover. I feel that I could
of used some more techniques for the text, such as making
the first letter of the first word larger than the rest of the
text.
