The document provides an evaluation of Leah Brackpool's production process for creating a book cover and poster. It summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of her research, planning, time management, technical and aesthetic qualities, audience appeal, and feedback from peers. The document concludes with Leah agreeing with some peer feedback and disagreeing with other parts, and noting changes she would make, such as using a different color scheme, adding more information to the cover, changing some fonts, and improving the silhouette and poster background.

3. Research
• The strengths of my research include :
1. It shows me the already existing products and ensures that I don’t mistakenly copy
someone-elses work, making my project copyrighted.
2. It gives me ideas of what to do before-hand and allows me to create a colour palette
with products in the same genre.
My research helped with my product by finding similarities with products in
the same genre, such as colour palettes and aesthetic qualities.
• The weaknesses of my research include :
1. I could have included different genres of book covers and also added trailers for books
to help with the research.
Things that I would do to improve my research would be to make it more in-
depth and adding more styles and colour palettes into it. I also would added
trailers for books and different genres.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning include :
1. Added more colour schemes and fonts that match the romance genre perfectly.
2. Creating a visual aesthetic that I would and did include in my final project.
3. Creating a mockup poster and book-cover so I know which aesthetics suit my style and
the fonts I chose, perfectly.
My planning helped with my product because then I knew which aesthetic
suited my final product best and also so I knew where to place things on the
cover & poster. The planning also helped with a colour scheme that I finalized
and used in the project.
• Weaknesses of my planning include :
– Could’ve added more fonts and colours into the style sheets.
– Could’ve made a better mock up for the poster advertisement design.
I would improve by focusing more time on finding better fonts that match the
vibes I want the cover to give off perfectly.
5. Time Management
I think I managed my time pretty well. With this
I think I have created some good products
within the time, but always could be improved
some more to make it greater.
My product could be improved with additional
time so that I could have made the possibility of
a theatrical trailer for the book.
6. Technical Qualities
The similarities of these two products
include :
• Text and blurb location
• The use of known fonts
• The fonts used in both are easily
readable and noticeable from far
away, even with contrast of the
colours.
The differences of these two products
include :
• Mine has less information on the
front than the other.
• The front of the other one is
easily recognisable than the one
I made as it shows faces.
7. Technical Qualities
Similarities of these products include :
• The layout and depth of the text.
• The way the cover is posted on the
poster
• Easy reading fonts.
Differences of these products include :
• Amount of information show, mine
is less.
• Different genres.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
The differences of these two products
include :
• Different colour schemes.
• The one I compared mine to has
a lot more detail in the back as it
has publisher logos and social
medias.
• I used a silhouette rather than a
faced couple picture.
The similarities of these two products
include :
• The same couple pose on the
front cover.
• Same layout with the back, spine
and front.
• Have a blurb at the back rather
than reviews.
9. Aesthetic Qualities
Similarities of these products include :
• The placement of the cover
• Bold fonts
Differences of these products include :
• Different colour scheme
• Different genre
10. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by :
• Using a pinky purple colour scheme
• Using nature themes
• Having a couple in the front
• Using readable fonts.
The things that I didn’t add into the
cover is the red pinky tones, as I
thought that the more pink purple
tones would fit better with the
word meaning of infatuation.
11. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by :
• Using a pinky purple colour scheme
• Having the cover of my book on the
front, making it noticeable
• Having information about it, whilst
also having the picture of it.
The specific parts of the poster would
include of the information that is used, is
what makes the audience want to buy/read
the book.
Also the fact that the fonts are readable
and the cover is noticeable from afar, is
very good.
13. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Amy liked the colours that were used in the products, and
the fact that the fonts were eye-catching from afar.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– Amy thinks that adding a faced couple rather than a
faceless silhouette would add more character into the
book cover.
14. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Craig liked the book plot and also the colours were
used, also the silhouette idea in the front.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Craig doesn’t see the need for improvements,
thinks its good the way it is.
15. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Tyler liked the couple silhouette in the cover and the
fonts in the title and blurb.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Tyler thinks that the placement of the book cover on
the poster could be a bit better, but thinks its good
otherwise.
16. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
I agree that the colour scheme is nice but also agree that the
cover placement on the book poster could’ve been placed a bit
better. I also agree that the couple silhouette would’ve been an
actual couple but I had no one to model for me.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with the fonts in question, I think that the
fonts could’ve been a bit better and the blurb could’ve
been written better.
17. Peer Feedback Summary
The changes that I would make on my products is
that I would change the colour scheme to match
my audiences goals rather than what I felt was
best, and also adding more information on the
front cover. I also would use some different fonts
and also a better silhouette picture and use a real
life couple rather than a shadow.
I would also add contrast more to the poster,
rather than it look bland in the background.
