1. Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you feel you have learnt
in the progression from it to the full
product?
2. As you can see, from making my original preliminary task ‘YC News’ Magazine and
my final product ‘313’ Magazine I developed my skills and abilities of using
Photoshop very much. It also is a good example of how my research and planning
helped in creating a more successful and professional looking magazine.
Some examples of improvements I have made on my final magazine are:
• I have included a wider variety of fonts and font sizes which make the magazine
more diverse in interesting to look at.
• I have used a specific colour scheme and matched all the colours used in the
picture, fonts and background more effectively.
• I improved my camera skills to provide the image with more effective lighting
and shading.
• I developed my editing skills to: add a background, edit the image to look more
professional, add a more suitable and interesting mast head and more cover
stories.
• Add successful aspects such as a Facebook logo, barcodes and a website address.
• Used a target audience to help decide on layout and colour scheme.
I used my research successfully to find out what my target audience would like to see
on a magazine and which aspects they found the most important when deciding
which magazine to purchase. I also found out what my target audience is interested
in with regards to music, for example which festivals or concert venues they
visit, where they buy their music and who their favourite artists are.
I also used research of existing products to help give me an idea of what a
professional, published magazine looks like and used these ideas on my own project
to make it look as realistically professional as possible.
I also used a style sheet to decide which fonts, colours, images etc. are the most
aesthetically pleasing and appealing to my target audience.
