Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. Research
• A strength of my research was looking at existing products before I made
my product because it helped give me more new and better ideas on what
type of project I wanted. Another strength is that it helped me decide
what layout I wanted.
• A weakness is that my ideas may have been too similar to ideas that
already exist. Another weakness is that the research was hard because I
didn’t know what I was looking for.
• A weakness of my research is that the product isn’t very detailed. Another
weakness is that it was really hard to find the right images I wanted to use
in my product.
• I could of done better by improving the detail and colours for my product
which will make it look better. It would have a positive effect on the
product because more people would be interested in it and want to play
which would make the game look better.
4. Planning
• A strength at planning for my product is that you can see what your going
to create before you even make it. The part of my planning which helped
with this was the layout pages because you can see what you are going to
make. Another strength is that we can pick our resources beforehand
which will save time. The part which helped me was the initial plan.
• Another strength of my planning was the mind-map I created because it
helped me by helping me figure out what kind of game I wanted to make.
A weakness of my planning is my mind-map and Moodboard are very
limited and to improve next time I would have to put more into the both
of them which could help by helping me make something better.
• I can do better next time by putting a lot more detail into my planning. It
would have a positive effect because it can help me make a better product
which will be much more detailed.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time well and I completed my product on time. If I had
more time I could improve my product and the planning by putting in a lot
more detail into them.
• A positive would be I did everything that I wanted to do and completed it
in the given time. I managed to keep on track and complete the product
before the given time
• With more time I could improve on my designs by improving the designs
and turning the game into a full on prison escape game.
6. Technical QualitiesIt is well detailed It’s not well detailed
This game has

how to escape the
prison
This game only has
one choice.
It has cut

7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my work looks
good and it is creative
because it’s an original.
The aspects of the
poster’s visuals I like are
that the colours suit the
image and it looks cool.
I would improve the detail
by putting more detail into
the colour and image.
A strength would be that it
looks cool and it has a few
colours on.
A weakness is that it isn’t
very detailed and isn’t very
colourful.
8. Audience Appeal
I appealed to the target
audience by making a
prison escape game which
involves a ninja and is
colourful.
I think the image appeals
to the target audience
because it is colourful and
looks cool.
The image is colourful and
the ninja is well created. The
title of the game and the
background together show
the audience what the game
is about.
I think the colours appeal to
the audience because they
suit the kind of game it is and
they make the game look
cool.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The colours were bright and bold, defiantly something
that will attract the audience. The graphics look
detailed too and move freely within animation
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Maybe the graphics can be a little less blurry, also
some music and sound effects could be added for
a more interesting effect.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the music and the sound effects used in the
game
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I would make it a bit longer
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The backing track and the sound effects match the
theme of the game really well. The characters were in
a lot of detail as well.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I would have the legs move backwards and
forwards when the characters moves.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that I should make the legs go back and
forward when moving and to make it longer.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? I don’t disagree with any of the
feedback.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would improve the product by making the game longer and making the legs more
forward when moving because the game is too short and the game characters should be
more realistic by having the legs move.
