A good documentary needs a good script in
order to feel more organised and precise on
what the individual wants to say. So I started
to construct out a script for my audio podcast
about autism. I first began with a couple of
rhetorical questions about why someone
would typically spot a particular form of
behaviour that someone they know is
showing. I then go on about the main parts of
autism, how it affects people differently and
what should you expect from them physically
and emotionally. Next, I explain how the
disorder Asperger's syndrome works in
relation to it being a form of autism and how
it effects the individual’s form of contact and
interaction is rendered and effected by this
condition. Finally, I explain my views on living
with the condition and adapting it’s pros and
cons and dealing with it’s consequences. The
sound effects and noises are highlighted in
bold to show what is happening since it is
audio and visual.
I used my laptop’s voice
recorder to record the vocals
one by one, as well as the
sound effects, then I saved it
onto my emails ready to be
used at college.
After the recordings, I
then uploaded the
sections one by one
onto the programme,
without any cropping
or editing, just placed
in chronological order
to make it just as
planned.
I then began to find the right music in
order to make the audio interesting
and not boring and dull. I went on
YouTube and found the instrumental
version of Hey Now by London
Grammar, which in my mind is the
perfect song for an autism
documentary. After that, I copied the
link into the same website that I used
for the experiment; 2conv.com. I then
waited for it to convert, then
downloaded it onto my files, ready to
be used into Premier Pro. When I
uploaded it onto the programme, I
rearranged it to make it fit with the
audio and make it suit better.
The final stage of the
production was to
export it into my files
and then send it off to
my tutor to be marked. I
first press the export
button, then press
media in order to carry
out the process. After
that, I changed the state
to MP3 and then
change the output
name to ‘Autism
Documentary’. Finally, I
exported it to my files,
ready to be marked.
