2. Process
• Firstly I made the red border to
make the cover stand out more
brightly, I added a darker red to
the inside and a lighter red to the
outside to make the boarder look
more 3D.
• I then started to design the car
and wanted it to look as realistic
as possible adding light shading
and highlights.
• I then added the dark city
background to advertise that the
game is city racing and will be
action packed and as if your racing
through the city in real life.
• The hardest part was the title as
there was so little pixels to add
detail, the title is definitely the
main thing I would like to improve.
3. Process
• Firstly I designed and built
the car I wanted to actually
use the one that would be
on the road facing forwards.
To make it more realistic I
added small highlights and
shading with lighter and
darker blue and a lighter
blue than the original car
colour.
• Secondly I made the front
view of the car I was going
to use this for the cover for
the game but decided
against it in the end.
4. Process
• For my actual game I wanted it to be as
realistic as I could possibly make it, I
started with the track, grass, and skype
these where all fairly basic and simple. I
used them as a base to what I was
making, this helped to position other
parts within the game and build on top of
the base layer.
• I then starter to build the back ground
starting with the bush and trees in the
distance, then started to add the city
which I wanted to look as 3D as possible
as it’s a very important to the game as its
based on making it to the city to win.
• I then started to add the dash board of
the car onto the bottom of the screen
and again wanted it to be as realistic and
3D as possible. I did this by adding
shadows and light reflecting off of shiny
objects.
5. Process
• I then started to make
the game actually move I
did this my making
frames that change
every 0.1 seconds and
moving the car a pixel at
a time, I then started to
move city and the track
like in a real retro style
racing game adding a
little more track every
time I moved it.
