MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
וַיֵּרָא אֵלָיו יְהוָה בְּאֵלֹנֵי מַמְרֵא וְהוּא יֹשֵׁב פֶּתַח הָאֹהֶל כְּחֹם הַיּוֹם" )בראשית יח, א(
It was the Rebbe Rashab's 4th or 5th birthday (20 Cheshvan)
and he went to his grandfather, the Tzemach Tzedek, to receive
a Bracha for his new year. Entering the room of his grandfather
and seeing him, the Rebbe Rashab burst into tears. His
grandfather asked why he was crying and he replied: I learned
in Parshas Vayera how Hashem appeared to Avraham Aveinu
after having a Bris Milah. Why doesn't Hashem appear to me?
The Tzemach Tzedek answered him: When a Yid, a Tzadik,
decides to have a Bris at ninety nine years old, he deserves
that Hashem reveal Himself before him.
An important lesson lies in this story. We need to be
Mechanech our children such that, even at a young age, they
"
already yearn for Kedusha and Elokus, and furthermore,
desperately want Hashem to reveal Himself to them.
Today, with Moshiach about to come, this lesson is especially
pertinent. We need to be waiting and yearning even more for
Giluy Elokus, knowing, as we do, that Moshiach’s coming will
bring about the ultimate revelation of Hashem.
Each one of us now, including children, need to become
aware of how much we are missing and how much we really
want it. Like the Rebbe Rashab at 4-5 years, each of us can
and should yearn and cry out: Why hasn't Hashem revealed
Himself to me? I want the Geulah now!

In 5734 the vaad l’hafotzas sichos suggested to the Rebbe to print the
michtav k’lali for Vov Tishrei of that year which talks about the nevua of
Chana and about her son Shmuel hanovi (the haftarah of the first day of
Rosh Hashanah) together with the likut of that same week l’ilui nishamas
Rebbeitzin Chana.
The Rebbe responded with a long answer about the special zchus which we
find by Chana and her strong connection with Moshiach.
Below is the ma’aneh which the Rebbe wrote in his handwriting:
When the Rebbe began speaking
with increased urgency about the
imminent arrival of Moshiach, some
people from other frum communities
were disturbed by it.
In 5742, the future Gerrer Rebbe, Reb
Pinchas Menachem Alter, merited a
Yechidus with the Rebbe. The Rebbe
addressed the burning issue of Geula.
“This is the fervent wish and hope of Klal
Yisroel, to leave Golus and to come to
Eretz Yisroel with Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
Indeed, as of late, I stress that Moshiach
must come ‘now’."
Here the Rebbe made a rare reference to
himself:
"Some have criticized my approach. How
fortunate I am, that the criticism leveled
against me is that I talk too much about
Moshiach!"

2. In the sicha of Chof Cheshvan 5745 the Rebbe tells us that the chiyuv to be mefarsem Chassidus is placed on every
individual in our generation. The reason for this is because in our generation the sicha of “Kol HaYotzeh l’Milchemes
Beis Dovid” is directed to every Jew.
In this sicha the Rebbe Rashab foretells of two types of enemies that will exist before Bias HaMoshiach; one consisting of people
who will scoff at the existence of Hashem, and a second who will scoff at the emunah in Bias HaMoshiach. And the wonder is that
this second group will consist of frum Yidden, people who are learned in Torah and keep Mitzvos, but they won’t be able to stand
hearing that that Moshiach is coming. But this itself, the Rebbe tells us, is the sign that Moshiach is takah coming immediately,
being that this is the second enemy which will exist before Bias HaMoshiach! And with this enemy all of Am Yisroel have to fight
together.
Then the Rebbe asks a very strong question (from which we can learn a clear horo’oh about our matzav today after Gimmel
Tammuz etc.): How could it be that we have the ko’ach for this avodah? Those who the sicha was said to, Tmimim who lived in a
different time and in Lubavitch and in a time when “V’hoyu eneicheh ro’ois es moirecha,” it’s understood that they were shayich
to this, but us, who know deep down our matzav in Avodah etc., how do we have the koach for this?!
However, the Rebbe tells us, after all of the Chassidus that was spread throughout the world since Yud-Tes Kislev and the Rebbe
Rashab etc. the world has become a kli that not only can receive Chassidus but it itself can also give out light, “Neiros l’hoir”. It is
therefore understood that this avodah is shayich to everyone in our generation.
יעצט איז דער חיוב פון הפצת המעיינות חוצה חל על כל אחד
איז דער ענטפער איז: אין דער צייט ווען די שיחה איז
ואחד:
געזאגט געווארן, וואס דאס איז געווען בתחלת התייסדות
וואס עד"ז איז מובן בנוגע דער שיחה פון ־כל היוצא למלחמת
ישיבת תומכי תמימים )אין די ערשטע יאר( - איז דער ענין
בית דוד כו', אז כאטש בזמן אמירתה איז זי געווען מופנה צו
)מפני כמה סיבות( געווען שייך נאר צו די וואס זיינען בבחי׳
די וואס זי איז געזאגט געווארן וכו', איז אבער בזמן הזה איז זי
״נשמות כלליות״ לגבי ענין זה, וואס מ׳האט זיי געגעבן כוחות
שייך לכל אחד ואחד.
מיוחדים זיי זאלן אויפטאן באופן חזק ביותר, און דערפאר האבן
זיי געקענט אויפטאן באופן ארוך ורחב ועמוק וכו'.
ובאמת איז דער ענין מודגש אין דער שיחה גופא:
וואס די תלמידים צו וועמען דאס איז געזאגט געווארן זיינען
אין דער שיחה איז ער מבאר דעם ענין פון מלחמת בית דוד,
געווען אזעלכע וואס האבן געלערנט אין ליובאוויטש, און
ע"פ מאמר רז"ל "אם ראית דור אחד דור מחרף צפה רגליו של
געלערנט אין דער ישיבה במשך א זמן ארוך לפי ערך.
משיח", ומאי טעמא, אשד חרפו אויביך ה׳ אשר חרפו עקבות
משיחך״, וואס דאס זיינען צוויי דורות, דער ערשטער דור איז ־
אבער בשעת ס'זיינען געקומען די שנים שלאח״ז - זיינען די
אויביך ה׳־, און דער צווייטער דור איז "עקבות משיחך".
בירורים געווארן אזעלכע וואס זיינען שייך לכל אחד ואחד.
און ער איז דארט מפרש, אז דער צווייטער דור, דער דור
ווארום במשך השנים הללו האט מען זיך דאך מתעסק געווען
"אשר חרפו עקבות משיחך", איז בעקבתא דמשיחא ממש.
אין הפצת המעיינות חוצה לפי הוראת בעל יום ההולדת, ובפרט
לפי דבריו אז דער עיקר הענין פון הפצת המעיינות חוצה האט
און ס׳איז מובן מהמשך השיחה, אז כדי זיך איינקערן מיט ענין
זיך אנגעהויבן לאחרי גאולת י״ט כסלו תקנ״ט, און בכל שנה
פון ״חרפו עקבות משיחך" דארף מען האבן א גאנצן "דור", ד.ה.
ושנה איז געווען די העלאה בקודש אין דער הפצת המעיינות
אלע אידן שבדור זה.
חוצה - במילא איז דער ״חוצה״ געייארן באופן כזה אז ניט נאר
ובפרט אז נשיא דורנו האט געהייסן אפדרוקן די שיחה בזמננו
ער קען אויפנעמען די ״מעיינות־, נאד ער קען זיין בבחי׳ ״נרות
זה, זי זאל דערגיין לכל אחד ואחד - איז מובן אז די שיחה האט א
להאיר״.
שייכות לכל אחד ואחד צו וועמען זי דערגייט בהשגחה פרטית.
במילא איז מובן, פארוואס בזמן הזה איז דער ענין פון ־כל
ובפרט אז נשיא דורנו האט עס געהייסן אפדרוקן, און דערביי
היוצא למלחמת בית דוד״ שייך לכל אחד ואחד.
האט ער מודיע געווען און געגעבן די הוראה ונתינת כח - אז
יעדער זאך דארף זיין באופן פון ״טאפארו דא פלאחו", אז דער
גרזן דארף אנרירן דעם בול עץ, בפועל ממש.
און אין וואס באשטייט די ״מלחמת בית דוד״ איז ער קלאר

מסביר אין דער שיחה:
מען דארף מבטל זיין דעם ענין פון ״חרפו אויביך ה׳", און אויך
דעם ענין פון ״אשר חרפו עקבות משיחך״:
וואס די וואס ״חרפו עקבות משיחך״ זיינען די תלמידים פון
״אויבך ה'״, און זיי קענען ניט פארליידן אז מ׳רעדט און מ׳זאגט
אז אט אט קומט משיח, ווארום מ׳האלט שוין ביי עקבות
משיחך!
וכמבואר אין דער שיחה דארט, אז צווישן די וואס חרפו
עקבות משיחך זיינען פאראן ״גאר פיינע בני תורה און זיינען
שוואך באמונת הגאולה״.
ד. ה. זיי זיינען טאקע לומדי תורה ומקיים מצוות, אבער זיי
זיינען ר״ל ״חרפו עקבות משיחך״, זיי קענען ניט פארליידן אז
מ׳זאל ריידן אז מ׳הערט שוין די עקבות המשיח!
און קעגן דעם האט מען איבערגעבעבן, איז די מלחמת בית
דוד, וואס געהערט צו גאנצן דור!
מען דארף אבער פארשטיין: ווי איז דאס טאקע מעגלעך אז
בזמן הזה זאל יעדערער האבן דעם כח על זה?
בשלמא בשעת די שיחה איז געזאגט געווארן, האט מען מען
דאס געזאגט צו די תלמידים וואס האבן דאן געלערנט באופן
מסויים ובמקום מסויים, ובאופן פון ״והיו עיניך רואות את
מוריך״,
אבער שטייענדיק בזמן הזה, ווען ידע אינש בנפשו מעמדו
ומצבו - ווערט דאך די שאלה ווי אזוי קען מען מאנען פון אים
ער זאל אויפטאן דאס וואס חסידים האבן אויפגעטאן בזמן
ההוא׳ ווען ״והיו עיניך רואות את מוריך"?
