T-shirt Designs
If I was to do a game, I would do a
advergame based of Mario or Sonic. The
advergame would be similar to those
games and have characters made by
myself and other features. The animation
will have to last 3-5 minutes so there’s
plenty of work to do. I will probably
include a titles page, character selection
page, and different levels page.
It will be a Mario based game but will add
my own features to it such as a character
selection with a few characters and
unlockable characters. I won’t copy the
exact Mario levels or the character and will
all be made by myself.
With the advergame I have to include two
other side features such as an App logo
and maybe a magazine front cover and
double page something along those lines.
I could maybe add a boss level at the end
so it’s not just two ordinary levels.
The game would appeal to an audience
above the age of 7 and for both genders
because it’s a decent age range as well as
being able o entertain people over the age
of 7. The genre would be fantasy and
adventure.
Potential
Ideas If I was to do some T-shirt designs I would
maybe do it on video games. So I would
add characters or famous phrases from a
video game onto a T-shirt and use that as
my design.
I would choose a variety of different
colours that would go on the T-shirts and
look at which other stuff would fit with
that colour. I would have a set font and
size on the T-shirt as well as set colours
and pictures.
The video game aspects I would include on
my T-shirt designs would be the likes of
Pokémon, Mario, Sonic and some of the
old classic games.
I would have my own signature for either
signing the shirts or as a designer logo.
The audience age range would be for over
the age of 12 because younger people
under that age wouldn’t like the type of
merchandise I would produce.
Plus the genre for the shirts would be
sport.
If I was to do Photography as my main topic for my
FMP I would probably do scenery because I do like
good scenery in some places so I would do that. I
would do both shots in day and night time so there’s
a mixture of both times of day.
I would include certain landmarks as well as scenery
because it could be included as scenery. If I was to
do scenery I would probably go along the coast and
get some pictures there, during the day and at night.
I would go into York (my home town/city) and take
some pictures of some landmarks with some sky’s or
something else in the background.
I would also include my own logo in the bottom of
each picture, sort of like a signature so people know
the photos are mine.
The audience would be the same as the game idea
and the genre would be scenery, maybe mystery and
adventure. So it will include mountains and hilltops
for adventure.
Mind Map
Final Idea:
Game
The game idea is on Mario and sonic. I want the
game to be similar to the Mario and sonic
games with the levels going from left to right.
Audience to be 7 and over and for both genders. This would
be a reasonable age range because these type of entertaining
games are for the younger people to play and sometimes
older.
The psychographic would be Belonger because it involves
family and time to spend on the games.
The genres are entertainment, action and adventure.
These genres are right because Mario and sonic makes
people entertained by having different levels and
stages which is known as an adventure in the game.
My thoughts on this are to start off with a starter screen
with play, controls and settings with a little animation in
the background so it’s not dull and boring.
Then to have a character selection between 1-3
characters made by myself.
Then when the character is selected have a company
logo show before the game starts to show people ho it’s
made by. This could be shown before the game starts,
either way.
When the start of the first level starts the level will be 2D
and simple to create. I will go for a desert kind of level with
obstacles and for the 2nd level (with a boss) I will go for a
castle type of level with lava obstacles similar to Mario.
The other two features along side the game would be a App logo
and a poster. This will be included so there’s more to show about
the game and to talk about.
The game will have to last at least 2 minutes long. The starting part of the
animation will last at least 30-45 seconds then the rest will be onto the levels.
The colours that I would base my product around
would be darker colours with the slight addition of
brighter colours.
The characters I will create will be real people. I had
an idea of making my friend as a character in the
game and having another one of my friends as an
enemy. It’s a pixel game so ill make them as good as
possible but will miss certain features.
The software I would use to make my product(s) will be Photoshop. I chose this software because it’s very good at making games, producing good work and is the
best software out of the ones available to me. This is not just for my game, but also two other side products to go with the final project, a poster and a app logo. My
ideas can change when going through all the Power Points that’s why I have lots of ideas to think about and to think of what can be in my game. My target audience
is for gamers, gamers that enjoy their 2D adventure games and that are interested in classic games that aren’t too complex. That’s for the older gamers however for
the younger people who don’t play video games that often it’s something new to them. Making a pixel game can show them how games were made back in the past
compared to games nowadays. The social status will be the DE part of the ABC1C2DE because I want people to be able to afford the game and for people with not a
lot of money to enjoy what they have. The price of the game will range between about £0.49-£1. I think that’s a reasonable price for a game that all people can
afford.
Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• The image styles are similar because they’re all pixelated games and characters. Some of the colours are similar on some pictures and
some are completely different. There isn’t any fonts or a certain tone but the mood could be adventurous and full of action. Tone could
be happiness because of what the photos have in them, the photos have bright colours which shows happiness.. For example the lava in
one of the pictures shows suspense and tension.
• The games in my mood board have audiences such as children, teenagers, basically people of all ages above 7 or 8.
• The colour themes would depend on what type of level I’m going to make because I could make a level in the desert which would mean
that the colours would all relate to sand and cream-ish colours.
• From some of the photos in my mood board the denotations such as the characters and some of the levels can represent heroes and
positivity. Most of the photos include colours that are bright and that could represent happiness and emotion.
• There’s some iconography in my mood board.
• The denotation of my mood board is that all the images are all video game related.
• The connotations of for example Blue sky represents freedom, happiness as it’s a bright colour. Another connotation would be that the
forest represents mystery, anxiousness and adventure. There's mixture of both bright and dark colours.
• Iconography – The iconography in my images on my mood board are that they are all video games or are related to video games. For
example the characters known as Yoshi, Sonic and Mario are famous characters from very popular games.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board will influence my final product because I will include some of the parts of each picture into my game and will hopefully
end up being decent. I want it to be like Mario, a 2D designed level going from left to right an have some features from the pictures on
my mood board.
• The photos in the mood board will appeal to my target audience because it’s got some Mario and sonic features in it and shows some of
the levels that people play the game on.
• I will add colours, mood and the image style to my product and that’s how the mod board influences my final product.
Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The concept of my current idea is to make my own levels character(s) and additional features to the game such as enemies
and power-ups. It’s got to last at least 3 minutes long so the starting part of the animation would be at the menu sorting out
which character to choose and the rest of the time playing the game going through the levels. It’s an animation so there’s
no controlling anything it just watching what going on.
Type of
products you
would make
The type of product I’m going to make is a Mario-based type game where it mainly goes from left to right with the
additional part of going upwards and downwards to different parts of the level. I will also make a magazine front cover
and double page spread as well as an app logo for the game.
What you will
need to make
them
To make my product I will need certain software's such as Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. I will
need these software's so I can actually make my product and talk about it. I will use Photoshop to make my animation /
game and will add some of the features from the pictures on my mood board. I will use PowerPoint to talk about my
product as I’ doing now and the same for the word documents. I will use them to do my proposal on and talk about what it
is and why I’m doing that certain topic and talking about ASA codes.
Audience My target audience will be ages above 7 and for both genders. This is a reasonable age range and good for both genders
because adventurous games get younger people interested. Not just younger people ill be interested in the game, people
over the age of 16, 30 and so on play games meant to be played by younger people. This is why I’ve chosen both genders
for my target audience because everyone has at least had one of the Mario or sonic games in their lifetime. The
psychographic will be Belonger because of family and having time to play the game and the social status would be any. The
social status’ could link with the psychographic Belonger because everybody wants family in their life so any social status
can enjoy the game and play it without any problems. I think when I’m making the game the aspects that will appeal to my
audience will be the characters mainly and the levels that I will make. The price of my game will be ranged between £0.69 -
£0.99. This is a decent price for my game because it is affordable. This game will be available on the app store for that price
and will hopefully be available for everybody, even people with not a lot of money. This means that the social status will be
the DE part of the ABC1C2DE. I could aim my product to any social stated group, however I want to make the game
Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Magazine front cover and double page spreads. • I didn’t choose this idea because I felt more confident with
the game as there’s more to add to a game than a magazine
and I know more about making a game than a proper
magazine.
• I chose the game over the magazine because I think there’s
more to add and I can have more creative ideas from other
people for my game instead of a magazine. For a game you
can have whatever you want depending on your audience,
however with a magazine you have to have regulations and
certain features that won’t offend people.
Photography. • I didn’t choose photography because I thought that it would
be too easy to get some pictures of a particular topic and I
want a bit of a challenge. And I think making a game lasting 3
minutes long is challenging enough. I would of liked to do
Photography because I like photos especially hen it comes to
editing them, however I want a bit more of a challenge as I
think it’s a bit too easy.

1 fmp initial plans

  • 2. Mind Map Game Photography T-shirt Designs If I was to do a game, I would do a advergame based of Mario or Sonic. The advergame would be similar to those games and have characters made by myself and other features. The animation will have to last 3-5 minutes so there’s plenty of work to do. I will probably include a titles page, character selection page, and different levels page. It will be a Mario based game but will add my own features to it such as a character selection with a few characters and unlockable characters. I won’t copy the exact Mario levels or the character and will all be made by myself. With the advergame I have to include two other side features such as an App logo and maybe a magazine front cover and double page something along those lines. I could maybe add a boss level at the end so it’s not just two ordinary levels. The game would appeal to an audience above the age of 7 and for both genders because it’s a decent age range as well as being able o entertain people over the age of 7. The genre would be fantasy and adventure. Potential Ideas If I was to do some T-shirt designs I would maybe do it on video games. So I would add characters or famous phrases from a video game onto a T-shirt and use that as my design. I would choose a variety of different colours that would go on the T-shirts and look at which other stuff would fit with that colour. I would have a set font and size on the T-shirt as well as set colours and pictures. The video game aspects I would include on my T-shirt designs would be the likes of Pokémon, Mario, Sonic and some of the old classic games. I would have my own signature for either signing the shirts or as a designer logo. The audience age range would be for over the age of 12 because younger people under that age wouldn’t like the type of merchandise I would produce. Plus the genre for the shirts would be sport. If I was to do Photography as my main topic for my FMP I would probably do scenery because I do like good scenery in some places so I would do that. I would do both shots in day and night time so there’s a mixture of both times of day. I would include certain landmarks as well as scenery because it could be included as scenery. If I was to do scenery I would probably go along the coast and get some pictures there, during the day and at night. I would go into York (my home town/city) and take some pictures of some landmarks with some sky’s or something else in the background. I would also include my own logo in the bottom of each picture, sort of like a signature so people know the photos are mine. The audience would be the same as the game idea and the genre would be scenery, maybe mystery and adventure. So it will include mountains and hilltops for adventure.
  • 3. Mind Map Final Idea: Game The game idea is on Mario and sonic. I want the game to be similar to the Mario and sonic games with the levels going from left to right. Audience to be 7 and over and for both genders. This would be a reasonable age range because these type of entertaining games are for the younger people to play and sometimes older. The psychographic would be Belonger because it involves family and time to spend on the games. The genres are entertainment, action and adventure. These genres are right because Mario and sonic makes people entertained by having different levels and stages which is known as an adventure in the game. My thoughts on this are to start off with a starter screen with play, controls and settings with a little animation in the background so it’s not dull and boring. Then to have a character selection between 1-3 characters made by myself. Then when the character is selected have a company logo show before the game starts to show people ho it’s made by. This could be shown before the game starts, either way. When the start of the first level starts the level will be 2D and simple to create. I will go for a desert kind of level with obstacles and for the 2nd level (with a boss) I will go for a castle type of level with lava obstacles similar to Mario. The other two features along side the game would be a App logo and a poster. This will be included so there’s more to show about the game and to talk about. The game will have to last at least 2 minutes long. The starting part of the animation will last at least 30-45 seconds then the rest will be onto the levels. The colours that I would base my product around would be darker colours with the slight addition of brighter colours. The characters I will create will be real people. I had an idea of making my friend as a character in the game and having another one of my friends as an enemy. It’s a pixel game so ill make them as good as possible but will miss certain features. The software I would use to make my product(s) will be Photoshop. I chose this software because it’s very good at making games, producing good work and is the best software out of the ones available to me. This is not just for my game, but also two other side products to go with the final project, a poster and a app logo. My ideas can change when going through all the Power Points that’s why I have lots of ideas to think about and to think of what can be in my game. My target audience is for gamers, gamers that enjoy their 2D adventure games and that are interested in classic games that aren’t too complex. That’s for the older gamers however for the younger people who don’t play video games that often it’s something new to them. Making a pixel game can show them how games were made back in the past compared to games nowadays. The social status will be the DE part of the ABC1C2DE because I want people to be able to afford the game and for people with not a lot of money to enjoy what they have. The price of the game will range between about £0.49-£1. I think that’s a reasonable price for a game that all people can afford.
  • 5. Mood Board Analysis Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood • The image styles are similar because they’re all pixelated games and characters. Some of the colours are similar on some pictures and some are completely different. There isn’t any fonts or a certain tone but the mood could be adventurous and full of action. Tone could be happiness because of what the photos have in them, the photos have bright colours which shows happiness.. For example the lava in one of the pictures shows suspense and tension. • The games in my mood board have audiences such as children, teenagers, basically people of all ages above 7 or 8. • The colour themes would depend on what type of level I’m going to make because I could make a level in the desert which would mean that the colours would all relate to sand and cream-ish colours. • From some of the photos in my mood board the denotations such as the characters and some of the levels can represent heroes and positivity. Most of the photos include colours that are bright and that could represent happiness and emotion. • There’s some iconography in my mood board. • The denotation of my mood board is that all the images are all video game related. • The connotations of for example Blue sky represents freedom, happiness as it’s a bright colour. Another connotation would be that the forest represents mystery, anxiousness and adventure. There's mixture of both bright and dark colours. • Iconography – The iconography in my images on my mood board are that they are all video games or are related to video games. For example the characters known as Yoshi, Sonic and Mario are famous characters from very popular games. How will your mood board influence your final product? • My mood board will influence my final product because I will include some of the parts of each picture into my game and will hopefully end up being decent. I want it to be like Mario, a 2D designed level going from left to right an have some features from the pictures on my mood board. • The photos in the mood board will appeal to my target audience because it’s got some Mario and sonic features in it and shows some of the levels that people play the game on. • I will add colours, mood and the image style to my product and that’s how the mod board influences my final product.
  • 6. Informal Proposal Current Idea Concept The concept of my current idea is to make my own levels character(s) and additional features to the game such as enemies and power-ups. It’s got to last at least 3 minutes long so the starting part of the animation would be at the menu sorting out which character to choose and the rest of the time playing the game going through the levels. It’s an animation so there’s no controlling anything it just watching what going on. Type of products you would make The type of product I’m going to make is a Mario-based type game where it mainly goes from left to right with the additional part of going upwards and downwards to different parts of the level. I will also make a magazine front cover and double page spread as well as an app logo for the game. What you will need to make them To make my product I will need certain software's such as Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. I will need these software's so I can actually make my product and talk about it. I will use Photoshop to make my animation / game and will add some of the features from the pictures on my mood board. I will use PowerPoint to talk about my product as I’ doing now and the same for the word documents. I will use them to do my proposal on and talk about what it is and why I’m doing that certain topic and talking about ASA codes. Audience My target audience will be ages above 7 and for both genders. This is a reasonable age range and good for both genders because adventurous games get younger people interested. Not just younger people ill be interested in the game, people over the age of 16, 30 and so on play games meant to be played by younger people. This is why I’ve chosen both genders for my target audience because everyone has at least had one of the Mario or sonic games in their lifetime. The psychographic will be Belonger because of family and having time to play the game and the social status would be any. The social status’ could link with the psychographic Belonger because everybody wants family in their life so any social status can enjoy the game and play it without any problems. I think when I’m making the game the aspects that will appeal to my audience will be the characters mainly and the levels that I will make. The price of my game will be ranged between £0.69 - £0.99. This is a decent price for my game because it is affordable. This game will be available on the app store for that price and will hopefully be available for everybody, even people with not a lot of money. This means that the social status will be the DE part of the ABC1C2DE. I could aim my product to any social stated group, however I want to make the game
  • 7. Choices Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this project Magazine front cover and double page spreads. • I didn’t choose this idea because I felt more confident with the game as there’s more to add to a game than a magazine and I know more about making a game than a proper magazine. • I chose the game over the magazine because I think there’s more to add and I can have more creative ideas from other people for my game instead of a magazine. For a game you can have whatever you want depending on your audience, however with a magazine you have to have regulations and certain features that won’t offend people. Photography. • I didn’t choose photography because I thought that it would be too easy to get some pictures of a particular topic and I want a bit of a challenge. And I think making a game lasting 3 minutes long is challenging enough. I would of liked to do Photography because I like photos especially hen it comes to editing them, however I want a bit more of a challenge as I think it’s a bit too easy.

Editor's Notes

  1. Bubbl.us or hand drawn-scanned using college printers exploring 3 potential ideas. Add audience and genre to all of these ideas. Existing Products, are there any similar products that you could take elements from?
  2. Bubbl.us or hand drawn-scanned using college printers exploring your final idea. Why would this idea appeal to this particular audience? Talk about your colours and characters. Clear character development within your mind maps.
  3. Collection of images related to your product/inspirational/visually interesting At least 15 needed
  4. Link in your audience to the mood board analysis. Look at the different games you have included in your mood board and look at their audiences, will these appeal to a similar audience as yours to apply to the second question and for the first question address the audience talking about how this would appeal to them. Talk about the difference between pixel gaming and 2D gaming. Talk about the running colour themes. Link colours to tone/mood. Second Question – Add more detail for example talk about audience within this question, colours, font, mood and the style of them, discuss the advantages to these pieces
  5. For your idea, write a brief, informal proposal. Ensure you proof read and check spelling etc For the audience section consider age/gender/psychographic/geodemographic/social grade etc Talk about how in the audience section it would apply to all social statuses. Link belonger into social status. Talk about specific aspects of your game that will appeal to the audience.
  6. Discuss the other two ideas from your initial mind map and reasons for why you didn’t choose them Try and add a few more advantages and disadvantages to this production type.
