The document outlines a proposal for a car-based video game called "Terran". The intended audience is males aged 12-18, as cars generally appeal more to men and boys of that age enjoy simple flash games. Each level would start off easy but get progressively harder, appealing to those who don't want difficulty from the start. Screenshots would be taken at each stage of development to document progress. The concept is to create an opening title screen, main menu with play/customize/quit options, and showcase forest, city, underground tunnel and mountain levels to demonstrate different environments. Sound effects would be simple car noises. Progress throughout the year in video game and Photoshop skills from previous projects will help in creating assets and

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Working Title: Terran
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
The audience that I am aiming for to start with would most likely go for a male audience
because this seems like the audience that will be playing my game as it is a car game that
is a bit of fun but is also about cars and for this reason due to the demographic of cars
mainly aimed at men it is clear that this is the audience type I will be aiming at as well as
the main gaming demographic is also male so the gender that I will be aiming for at the
most is in fact male gender but this does not mean it won’t available or won’t appeal to
femalesbecause it would if they are interested by the concept of my game. For the age I am
aiming for about 12 to 18 or above but mainly between 12 to 18 as it would be like a
simplistic flash game that they could play and enjoy when in school on a break or at home
and nothing to do it would appeal to this audience because at this age life is more free and
they want stuff to do or pass time and I think that this game could give them that. The
social status for the audience of this game I feel to be irrelevant as all classes would have
access to this game it appeals to lower as much as higher I do suppose that the most likely
people playing it would be middle as that is the broad and most common area in audience
for the game but even so it will seclude the others from the game either. My game would
include different levels ones that are harder than others but the starting levels would be
easy to complete and this will give the player a good amount of time to get into the game
and this appealsto the phycographic for people who don’t want a difficult game at first. It
has cars in it which appealsto the phycographic of people who are into cars and races, the
levels will also contain puzzleson how to get to the next in your car and I feel that this will
appeal to people that want more than just a car game.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
My progress throughout the year has been good I feel I have been on time with all my work
and not fallen behind this is good for me because it directly impacts my work with its
punctuality because it takes time to produce work to a good standard and to be able to do
that to the deadline will help with the advergame because I will have completed one to the
best of my ability. On my first unit I looked at an irn bru project and in this we made an
advergame for the irn bru product and I feel this helped prepare me for this unit, in the unit I
made a game based off the 80s game the goonies and I think that designing the
backgrounds to the game and creating different assets for the game has really helped me
understand the different tools of photoshop and what I can use in design, for example I can
blend in colours from the background when adding them in to make nice scheme in how it
all looks this will directly impact my work as it is exactly what I intend to use in this unit,
when designing the assets I now know what scales to use in order to get them to fit nicely
into the end product of the advergame at a good size that fits this will help in this unit as I
know how to do it straight away. Organisation for animation, in the other unit I realised to
the end that it would be important to have the different layers in groups based on what is
been animated and when and then colour them based on what they have to do with the
deferent parts of the of the animation, this will impact this project as I will be organised
from the get go using all the skills I have to the best of my ability to make this game and
complete it on time. Animating the work, I know that on the previous unit I animated using a
certain tool and as I went on I picked up new tricks with the frame animation, I feel like I can
now use these techniques such as moving the different parts by a certain space and
changing the time on different parts in order to correlate with the game all this will be very
useful as well asputting some parts of the animation on look, this will defiantly impact this
project as it will contain all of the skills that acquired in the irn bru unit and it will do so to a
good standard.

Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The starting base of my project is an opening screen to represent the game that is being
played, from research I know games such as balloons tower defence and games such as
uncharted all have one thing in common even though they are all different types of game in
different ways what they all share is when they open it has a company name at the start or
the games title at the beginning this is to advertise their company but more importantly it is
to add in professionalism to the game and that is why I will not include a company logo but
a title opening screen with a logo for the game at the start it will be animated in how it
comes in. after this my game will include a menu option which will give the game additional
content such as a play option and also a customization option I will mainly focus on getting
the levels completed in the time I have however if I have more time then I will add in the
customization option, it will also have a quit option on the menu there may be more later
but at this time these are what I feel to be the most important to include in the game. Next I
will make a small scale look into level one of the game this will be set in a forest, the next
level will be a small scale look at level 6 which will be set in a urban city environment and
then a look at level 11 which will be a look at a underground tunnel and then finally it will
look at level 16 which will be set in mount Everest, the point of this is to show all
environments that would be within the game, each section of the game levelswould show
the lives and the different features and unlocks that will be uncovered along the way as well
as boosts that are picked up in game and how the currency works with this game. The
game would close with a reversed outro to the intro and it would show the completion
sound. The sound affects throughout the game would be simplistic such as car noises and
so forth wheels turning and reversing.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate by taking screenshots of each bit or progress that I make and at each
stage the purpose of this is to contain proof that it is my work and no one else’s and to give
me back up points on how designed it and help explain how I did each part with visual
assistance, there would be lots of screenshots I would explain the different process that I
used such as tools in photoshop and explain how I used them. When I evaluate I will
compare my work to their people and see the difference in quality and effort or
professionalism, and then add in additional information on what I did to complete my work.
I would compare how my work looks and what it included compared to how I explained it
my plan with it and if it looked up to standard.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
