2. Process
This is the fishing magazine
that I am going to replicate
is this one with a colourful
fish and a flash at the top
with the price and a
barcode down the side.
There are lots of pictures
around the fish with text
on them to say what the
image is about. I chose this
magazine cover because
it’s very simple and not too
cramped full of images and
text.

3. Process
I have made a red rectangle
for the title of this fishing
magazine just like the
original one. This is so I can
put the title of the
magazine and the issue
date or number. I used the
shape tool to make the
rectangle and then used
the paint bucket tool to
colour it in red which I
found easy to do because
it’s very straight forward
and simple.

4. Process
I then used the eraser
tool to get rid of the
edges also by adjusting
the opacity by making
it harder and softer
with the percentages.
To get the wavy effect,
I used the smudge tool
so it looks more like a
painting.

5. Process
I then added some pebbles
that I got from Google
Images and used the lasso
tool to cut some out and
then blurred them out with
the blur tool where there
were hard edges an then
used the smudge tool to
give them a wavy effect.
Also, I used the blur tool to
smooth the fish’s hard
edges to make it fit in
more.

6. Process
To make the magazine
title, I used the
rectangle tool to make
a shape for the black
subtitle. I downloaded
fonts from dafont.com
to make it more
realistic. Then, in tiny
writing, I put the date
and the cost of the
magazine to replicate
the original.

7. Process
I then replicated the
flash at the top where
it tries to advertise the
magazine using buzz
words. I used the
rectangle tool and
filled it in yellow and
then, using the font I
downloaded on
dafont.com, I copied
the heading on the
original magazine.

8. Process
I downloaded the images
of men fishing from
Google Images to
replicate the original
magazine and added text
with the text tool and
downloaded the font
Coolvetica from
dafont.com and resized it
using the Transform tool
and coloured parts of the
text using the colour
picker wheel.

9. Process
I downloaded the font
from dafont.com
called Coolvetica and
used the text tool to
type in the
subheading. I then
used the colour picker
wheel to make part of
the text red to make it
stand out and a word
more exclusive.

10. Process
There is a barcode
added on the side
just like the original, I
added it because the
reader will not be
able to purchase it
without it. I
downloaded the
barcode image from
Google Images.

11. Process
This is what my
magazine cover looks
like side by side with
the original. I
personally like the fish
image as I love the
wavy effect of the
smudge tool and blur
tool to make it look

12. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
I will include images and an headline for my
magazine including some buzz words to
advertise my magazine.
