2. Using the lasso tool I took out the part of the image I
needed by going around the section I wanted to take
off. I had to go around carefully to make sure I had
the whole image
I pasted the picture onto a black background. To
create the outline effect I went on layer edit and
selected stroke, changed the colour to white and
made the outline thicker
I used the text tool and wrote out the masthead and
made the colour of it grey. I then altered the size and
centred the text to the page
I added more text and put them onto of the
masthead, making sure they fitted into the length
of the masthead.
3. I placed the main headline on the body of the
model. The main part which says 'Rose' was
coloured red and has white outline reflecting
that of a rose
I placed the sell lines next to the head of the
model. I changed the colour of the most
important part to blue. I also made sure
the text were in line with each other.
A sticker was added which I got from the internet
and coloured in a light blue. After colouring that
in I realised that shade of blue was better for
magazine so I adjusted the colour of the sell
lines to that shade of blue.
I filled in the sticker with "In the studio" and
then added the Blink - 182 logo which I
found on the internet. I also made the sell
line text smaller and adjusted it so that the
text were equal in where they were laid out.
Next I added a box at the bottom of the page and
coloured it in a maroon red shade. I also copied a
barcode from the internet and put on the bottom
right hand corner of the page
In the maroon box I added a plus feature
with the names of artists. The word "Plus"
I coloured in a bright yellow and the artists
names I left in the colour white.
4. The sticker that I found, I put a yellow outline
around it to brighten it and also included an
inner shadow to give it more depth and make it
look 3D. I did this through the blending options
and clicked on inner shadow which I decided
black was the best colour for it.
I developed the effects the headline, by
adding more shadow in the text to create
more depth. Also with the sub headline I put
a stroke around the words to make it look
more 3D so it didn't look as plain as the
main headline.
This was the final look of my front cover
To make the front cover more edgy and suit
the genre I added a torn page effect which I
was inspired by Kerrang magazine. I took
this from the internet as the layers were
already there so I couldn't do it on
photoshop.
