2. Process
The first step I took in making the ska magazine was the logo above is the
original logo I took from the internet, the logo is the same as a famous British
Ska group.
I then edited it too make it my own, I started by just cutting out the words “the
Beat” the I got an image of the famous skatting man and using the shape tool
mad a 2 tone border around the whole thing.
3. Process
• The second step I took in
making the front cover to
my magazine was including
the main image of the cover
,I chose to do a famous Ska
band that go by the name of
the specials. I chose an
image from Google then
using the magic wand tool
cut around the members of
the band leaving just there
bodies. I then placed a
stroke effect around them
to make the image stand
out more.
4. Process
• I then added the
headline for the
image, I used the
bands logo plus
dafont to choose a
particular font I
believe fits the
magazine and
applies to the
target audience.
5. Process
• I then chose
several band icons
from the Ska genre
and made a selling
line at the bottom
of the page.
6. Process
• For the next step I
decided that the
cover was a bit too
dull and didn’t jump
out at you due to
the colour scheme
so using the stroke
tool I added a yellow
trim around the key
layers.
7. Process
• The next step I
decided that my cover
needed more colour
and to be more
modern. So using the
paint can tool I
changed the colours
of several of the
pieces of clothing the
band on the main
image were wearing, I
used a dark red with
the opacity at 32%.
8. Process
• I then chose to
add headlines
using dafont
too choose the
font style and
then added the
same stroke as
the other key
texts on the
page .
9. Process
• The next I took in
completing the cover
was adding the price
and barcode, I got an
image online of a
barcode with the price
£3:99 on it I believe
this is a good price for
my target audience.
• I had to erase one of my
band at the bottom of
the page allowing
enough room.
10. Process
• The next layer I
chose to add to
this page was the
issue number, I
used the circle
tool and the
stroke effect to
make a sticker.
The added the
same issue
number as the
barcode at the
bottom.
11. Process
• The final layer I
had too add
was the
website at the
top right of the
page, this is so
people know
where to go if
they want to
find out more.
12. Process
• After finishing my cover page I started making my
double page spread, I selected an a3 page then using
the ruler tool cut it into a double page article.
13. Process
• The first layer I added to my double page spread was the title of my
chosen article, I used the dafont webpage too find a font a believe
fits the article, and then got the logo for the band I’m covering and
added the stroke tool too fit my color scheme and make it more eye
popping.
14. Process
• The next step I took was choosing the image for the article,
I chose an image from Google used the lasso tool too cut it
out too fit the page. Using the paint bucket tool I added the
same effect as the cover page matching my color scheme.
15. Process
I then chose too add a box listing off each member of the band, using the
rectangle shape a text box and dafont for the title of the box. I again used the
same stroke effect only with white this time so it reads easier and is eye
catching.
16. Process
The next step I took was in my own time I wrote out the article first by taking down
notes from research, and putting it together in my words. I arranged it in columns so it
looks more professional.
17. Process
• I then chose a quote from the article to use as a pull quote on the
page, I made the layout of the text professional and used yellow
font with a black font so it stands out to the reader.
18. Process
• The final layer I chose too ad to my page was the
page number and the web address for more
information.
19. Process
• To start the contents page for my magazine I
followed the same lines as the cover using the
shape tool to make a 2 tone border at the top.
20. Process
• Then I used dafont to title the page and used the stroke
tool allowing the font to stand out more as well as
adding more colour to the page.
21. Process
• I then went online to choose an image of the famous
ska band Madness, then using the lasso tool I cut out
the image as well as adding a stroke.
22. Process
• The next layer I chose was an ad for a tour from
madness I made it using the shape tool images ofline a
text box and the stroke effect.
23. Process
• I then chose to ad the sub headings which I got from
the dafont page and i used the stroke tool too keep to
my colour scheme and be eye catching.
