The document describes the processes used to design a retro gaming magazine focused on Princess Peach. Key details include:
- Using color pickers and paint buckets to choose green and pink color schemes that are aesthetically pleasing.
- Selecting retro fonts from dafont.com like Montreal and Super Mario World to fit the retro theme.
- Adding elements like circles, images of Peach, and banners to attract the target female audience and match the magazine's style.
- Organizing columns and pages using rulers and adjusting shadows and formatting to make the magazine visually appealing and easy to read.
2. Process
I used the colour picker
tool to get the darkish
green for my background
and to fill in my
background, I used the
paint bucket tool for the
background. I like the
colour scheme because it
is aesthetically pleasing
and the two colours go
well together.
3. Process
I used the text tool to get
the title of the magazine. I
got the font from
dafont.com called
Montreal found under the
category Retro. I chose this
font because it brings retro
and classic vibes to the
magazine and fits the
theme of the magazine
really well and helps it
describe what it is that is
being talked about with the
font.
4. Process
I used the Ellipse tool to make
the two circles with the pinkish
colour to match the theme of
my magazine. I like the circles
because they fit well with the
magazine and the colours go
well against the background
and make the magazine very
aesthetically pleasing and eye
catching to the public. This also
fits my target audience profile
well as my magazine is more
aimed at females more than
males.
5. Process
I got the image from Google Images off
Princess Peach for my front cover
because she is going to be talked about a
lot in the magazine and it draws the
attention of the female audience. I
personally really like how Peach fits in
with the front cover because her colour
scheme goes very well with the
background and the colour scheme of
the product.
6. Process
This shows when the magazine issue is available and
how much it costs so the audience will be able to
know the price. I like the fonts for this part of the
magazine because it fits the theme of my magazine
well and it is very professional.
7. Process
I downloaded the font called Super Mario
World from dafont.com for the anchorage
so it sells the magazine more and gives a
little insight as to what will be inside the
product. I like the font because it fits the
magazine theme well and it is very retro
which some of the audience will like and be
familiar with.
8. Process
I decided to add a giveaway to my
magazine to attract more people to my
product as it will be including
everyone who enters. I like the text
font as it is very pixelated and fits the
retro gaming theme very well of the
magazine.
9. Process
I have included a barcode on the front cover so it
will let the readers be able to purchase the
magazine cover when it gets scanned. I like having
the barcode there because it is an essential part of
the magazine and it’s very important.
10. Process
I have included a flash banner at
the top of the magazine where I
have included buzz words to
advertise the content inside the
magazine. I like the placing of the
banner because it’s at the top and
it will catch the buyers attention
and excite them.
11. Process
I added a drop shadow to the big
circle by duplicating the circle
layer and going on Layer Styles
and then on the drop down menu,
I chose Drop Shadow. I adjusted
the Distance, Spread and Size until
it was to my liking. I did this
because I wanted my magazine to
stand out and be eye catching to
the audience.
12. Process
I have added a sub heading to say
what my magazine will be about
and I used the colour picker tool
to mirror the character’s colour
scheme. I used pink colours to
resemble the female audience
and I also used a curved font from
dafont.com to reflect the circular
theme.
13. Process
I have added a sub heading to say
what my magazine will be about
and I used the colour picker tool
to mirror the character’s colour
scheme. I used pink colours to
resemble the female audience
and I also used a curved font from
dafont.com to reflect the circular
theme.
14. Process
I used the ruler in the View tab
to organize the lines for the
columns and position of the
pictures and the lines near the
end of the double page spread is
so the content doesn’t come off
the edge of the page. I used the
paint bucket tool to fill in the
background and the colour
picker tool to decide the colour
of the background. I think this
looks great because it is a
different colour to what I have
used before and is very bold.
15. Process
I downloaded a font from
dafont.com called Chocolate Dream
and then used the text tool to write
the text I wanted to type. I liked this
font because I liked the curls and
how feminine it looks with the
colours and the magazine theme. I
also really liked the colour I picked
for the text because it stands out
really well with the background and
the two colours go really well
together.
16. Process
I grabbed an image of Princess Peach from
Google Images as she is the centre of the
magazine topic and this article is about her as
well. I like how this turned out because her own
colour scheme goes well with the background
and it makes her stand out amongst everything
else.
17. Process
I then used the text tool to copy and paste
my article which I drafted in Word so I don’t
misspell anything. The first P is a capital
because many original magazines have the
first letter in a capital letter. I like how my
columns are set out and how a paragraph fits
in perfectly without altering the size of text
or text box. Also, I like the capital letter of
the P as it makes the magazine look more
professional and imformative to read.
18. First of all, I used the rectangle tool to make my box
for all the text, images and shapes used. I then used
the ellipse tool to make 3 yellow circles, which I used
the paint bucket tool for, to put my images in the
circles. I then got 3 video game box arts from Google
Images and then opening them as a separate file in
Photoshop and then using the select tool to select the
full image and copying and pasting to place the images
into the Photoshop document. Then, I used the text
tool to write a little paragraph about the game so
people are familiar with them and can go out and buy
them. At the top, I put a sub heading of what is being
described below using the text tool. Lastly, in the
middle, in the font Sophia I put a quote that Peach
says in bold. I like this page because the layout is really
good and the fonts fit the theme of the magazine
really well. I also like how the images turned out
against the circles and how well it fits into the page.
Process
19. Process
I used the text tool to make the page number so
the target audience will know what page number
this is. Also, from Google Images, I got the Mario
star to make it stand out more against the
background. I like the placement of the page
number because it’s in the corner like many
magazines and has a very bold font so it’s easy to
notice straight away also the Mario star makes it
more fitting to the theme of the magazine topic.
