The document describes the process of creating a magazine cover in Photoshop. The key steps included:
1) Inserting an image of a fish and using the clone tool to fill gaps. Text was added and styled in front of the fish.
2) A circle was made with "sale" and price using a gradient fill. A character from Mortal Kombat was added for humor.
3) A line and headlines were added at the bottom to separate sections and add style. A barcode was placed at the top.
4) The image was exported as a PNG file for common use and export from Photoshop. Elements to include in the final product were identified, such as simple design,
2. Process
• First I created a A4 Page in photoshop And inserted art of a
fish into the page. I used photoshop because it has lots of
advanced tools I’m used to using and can be used to create
a cover of a magazine
• I then used the clone tool to fill in the gaps, I wanted to fill
the gap to remove the glaring white line, and how it’s a lot
harder to see the difference, especially with the text
infront
• I then added text infront and styled and moved them
around the fish, I changed the font to be bold and white
against a dark background and I changed the size so the
titles stand out from everything else
• I made sure to only use 1 photo to make sure it didn’t feel
like there was too much overwhelming the reader
3. Process
• Using the shape tool I then created a circle and put
“sale” and the price ontop, I then used the gradient fill
to make it not all one shade of red.
• The price wasn’t working and was invisible so I tried to
fix it by creating it 3d and that worked
• For fun I added the toasty guy from mortal Kombat
under the price to add some comedic fun
4. Process
• I then added a line at the bottom and added headlines
over it for more space to write and to separate out
the front cover and add a little style
• I also added a barcode which is needed if its going to
be sold in stores I added it at the top to make it
different, and I felt the space needed to be taken up
by something
5. Process
• I then exported the image as a PNG file. I
exported it to PNG because its one of the
most common formats and its one of the
first options that come up when looking to
export a file from photoshop
6. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– Simplistic design, not too many photoshopped images
– Bold fonts
– Barcode
– Price
– Headlines
– Issue Number
– Strip at the bottom of the page
– Something a little comedic
