seen as a weak
infrastructure’

as an appendix;
they exist but are
unnecessary’

miss them if they

Staff don’t buy into
company values
• Perhaps values have come
solely from the leadership and
the team can’t buy into them.
• Coming up with company
values should be a team effort
so everyone can believe in
them.
Not enough businesses
live by their values
• Company values are
utterly useless until we
live by them and enforce
them.
• They need to be visual so
people are regularly
reminded of them and use
them to frame their
decisions.
So how can company
values be useful?

• Staff will be able
to follow a
specific
framework that
informs their
every day
decisions.
Smarter recruitment…
• Candidates will be able to ‘opt-in’
to the company if they agree with
the company values.
• Those looking to join the
company can self-filter the
candidate pool for you
Better hiring…
• Assess candidates against
the values to see if they fit.
• Hiring based on values is just
as important as skills.
More motivation…
• Values give individuals a common
goal to work towards.
• If staff know and believe in what they
are working towards, they are more
likely to strive for it.
