Stravinsky Influence On Society
Stravinsky is undoubtedly now one of the most influential pioneers due to his musical innovations in
new music at the beginning of the 20th Century. Stravinsky was born in 1882, into the privileged
society of pre revolutionary Russia. In his early years, he was raised strictly under the faith of the
Russian Orthodox Church, which is said to have led on to have a large impression on his
compositional styles. At the tender age of 9, Stravinsky s talent in keyboard improvisation had become
apparent at this stage being influence by composers like Glinka and Tchaikovsky. During his early 20
s, although studying law at university, he began private lessons in composition from Rimsky
Korsakov. It was during this time that Stravinsky began some of his well known works, such as
Fireworks and a symphony, in which the talented young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequent to this Stravinsky s career took another turn, into the ballet. During this time some of his
most famous ballet works produced The Firebird and Petrushka. These ballets began to demonstrate
the immense skill in Stravinsky s bold and audacious orchestral writing.
The Rite of Spring
In 1913, Stravinsky premiered his arguably most famous and influential work The Rite of Spring. This
ballet ended up to potentially be a very controversial work, pioneering new ideas in both the music
and the choreography. This was Stravinsky s third ballet for Diaghilev s company, the Ballet Russes,
who primarily performed Russian themes. The Rite of Spring acts as a turning point in Stravinsky s
career, spurring revolutionary techniques to be

The Issues Of The Refugee Crisis
Introduction
We dream of a united world but reality makes us question this concept throwing at us the stories of
unfortunate people deprived of their basic human rights. Increase in Refugee flows is now the major
concern of contemporary international relations. This essay will first briefly explain the refugee crisis.
Secondly, discusses the different approaches adopted by different countries to address the issue. Third,
the paper aims to discover the various ethical aspects and apply theories to evaluate and analyse the
issue and finally put forward possible solutions.
Background
Refugees are by lawful definition, individuals asserting to have a very much grounded trepidation of
abuse in their nation of source in light of their race, religion, national birthplace, political feeling, or
participation in a specific social gathering (Schuck, 2008). There were roughly 1.5 million displaced
people far and wide in 1951, when the United High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) was initially
settled developing to 8.2 million by 1980. In 1997, the UNHCR assessed that there were more than
thirteen million exiles universally, speaking to an expansion of 866 for each penny in 44 years
(Loescher 1992; Dupont 1996; Stalker n.d.a). In 2001 and 2002 coinciding with the US wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq, number of refugees intensified. 2005 to 2009 saw an increase in the number of
Sri Lankan refugees, with the country ushering in a state of emergency, and the Government declaring

The Causes Of Hate Crime
The murder of Matthew Shepard in October of 1998 sparked a movement against the seemingly new
gay hate crime. Before the crime there was all sorts of laws and bills that were being decided upon
that affected the LGBTQ community, but the murder of Matthew Shepard really brought LGBTQ
rights into the light. Hate crimes oriented towards LGBTQ persons are not new, and have not
decreased in frequency in the recent years despite the inclusion of anti hate crime laws that were
brought into place. Being educated on the topic and my role as a citizen in this country, I know that
there is still a lot of growing that needs to take place in order to let the United States be one hundred
percent accepting of the LGBTQ community and prevent more hate crimes from arising. There is a
systematic denial of rights in the United States currently that reflects the time period surrounding
Matthew Shepard s death. In order to successfully combat the denial of rights and the oppression the
group faces that leads to murders like Shepard s, it is important to take a look at what exactly is the
cause of this inherent hatred of difference and start from there. One of the best approaches I can think
of is to look at the issue from the standpoint of a justice oriented citizen. As a justice oriented citizen,
the response to this issue would be to look at the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ
discrimination can be considered a political issue, what with recent happenings like the

Irony In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
New York City, 10:30 pm. It is another packed night at the Comedy Cellar on Macdougal Street, siting
in the audience is a group who has just walked in from the bustle of the big city. Naturally, the stress
of daily life hangs like a tangible fog, and peoples spirits rise in hope to forget about their own
problems and laugh their worry away. A grumpy, fat, balding, middle aged man saunters on stage and
makes some witty remark about how life sucks. In many ways he is right, everyone laughs, people
relate to his struggles. Life is hard, and when flaws get exaggerated, it s hilarious. This is what
Shakespeare does in his comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by making extreme simplifications and
drawing on human imperfections, it becomes easy to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where is the line defining how much trust you should have in another persons word? In the case of
Beatrice and Benedict, their trust in the admonition of their peers led them to be manipulated and their
thoughts were tainted. However, their deception turned out to catalyst true love. As soon as their love
virus spread, the two witty, independent individuals completely dismissed the disdain that they so
grudgingly held for one another. This satiric event exposes the idea that quite possibly one should
spend a bit more time processing and questioning information handed to them. Beatrice and Benedict
fell into the influence of the conspirators and all previous ideas of one another dissipated. In my
personal opinion, I would have a bit more trouble than Beatrice when falling for a man who referred to
her as Lady Disdain and who compared her intellectual, tenacious wit to a horse (pg. 12). So either the
people of Shakespeare s time didn t hold grudges, or he is making fun of people who will give up all
prior knowledge in the interest of love. (It s the second part, if you were confused.) The desperate will
that all humans have for love is powerful, and Shakespeare is criticizing the ease that people have at
shutting their third eye (knowledge) when blinded by

Sports Marketing and Mobile Technology Essay
Sports marketing has made its way directly to the fans. In the past, only the extremely devoted fans
would check on their teams online but now, the norm has changed. Now the devoted fans learn new
information before anyone else, and even get rewarded for it. In the article The Passion of the Fan , by
Stewart Feil, fans are being rewarded for posting about their favorite teams on social media. The
reason this is possible is because mobile apps have greatly contributed to the way fans follow their
teams. In Sports marketing and technology with the New England Patriots , by Michael Krigsman, it
reveals that fans have the capabilities of sending their favorite teams their input about the team. The
most amazing part is their voice is being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

websites, fan sites, online sports news sources, sports related Twitter feeds and other Internet and
social media outlets are now second only to TV as a primary and trusted source of information for
sports fans. People are now relying on social media to find their information, and they are even
spreading the news when they find out. Teams have started to capitalize on this acquired information.
Feil goes into detail to show how the Detroit Pistons have managed it, A gamified app called
SocialToaster that lets registered fans earn points for each item they repost to their social media feeds;
those with the most points receive game tickets, team merchandise and other incentives. Teams are
capitalizing on this opportunity to spread the word about themselves using prizes as incentives for
devoted fans. By using this method, they hope to expand to new, untapped, resources of fans and bring
their current fan base even closer. It is truly a genius idea, the

The HPV vaccine and its effect on cancer screening and prevention
Introduction
Human Papillomavirus(HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States,
according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) around 20 million people are infected
with HPV and additional 6.2 million people are newly infected every year. According to National
Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2003 2004 among sexually active women (57% of 14 to
19 years and 97% of 20 to 59 years) HPV was highest prevalent in youngest age group (40% of 14 19

HPV vaccine HPV vaccine was introduced in the U.S. in June 2006. It is a quadrivalent vaccine
containing high risk HPV type 16 and 18 and low risk types 6 and 11.CDC recommended use of the
vaccine in females of ages through 11 to 12 and catch up immunization in ages 13 through 26 years.
This vaccine comprises of three doses given within 6 months. This vaccine prevents infections with
HPV type 16 and 18 which are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers. Castle and colleagues did a
study to determine the appropriate age for HPV vaccination. They stated that in the United States
cervical cancer screening program has achieved 75% reduction in incidence of the cervical cancer and
HPV vaccine will only reduce additional cancer cases and other HPV related sequelae such as
carcinoma intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 2 and CIN 3. These are the precancerous lesions. The
vaccine will be effective only for those who are never exposed to HPV infection. It will have no use
for those who are already infected or exposed.. According to the study the median age for CIN 2/3
lesion was between the ages 25 to 30. If the time since acquiring infection and development of CIN
2/3 is on average 5 to 10 years, HPV vaccine will prevent CIN 2/3 only if given to women before age
of 26 years with best results if given before 18 years of age (Castle, et

The On The Block Chain
The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to independently
verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six times per hour, the
groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that in turn publishes it to
the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin amounts have been spent
which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency which eliminates the need for
a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to prevent fraud. Preventing
double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block chain complete, consistent,

As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due to
the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further solidified
by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the average time
the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer hardware gets faster
by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the protocol will simply
adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus creating an objective
regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current system is consciously
lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in general. This acts as an
additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the trading and production of
Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to consistent innovations in the
methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any modifications of the block
infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to outperform the combined power of
the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to the original version of this block chain,
something that is physically impossible in the current

He always asked What would I do if I were in this situation, He teaches actors how to act in a true to

adapt other traits from other people to their character. Stanislavski also teaches What is my character s
motivation, a question to ask for all of your actions on stage to give your character a purpose for
reacting the way he/she does. He is known for teaching emotional memory which begs actor to
experience the emotions that their character feels, whether it be pain, sadness, happiness, or whatever
emotion you re trying to portray. However if the actor is incapable of replicating these emotions with
ease, they are asked to reach into their past and pull from the emotions that they ve experienced and
use them onstage. He wants the emotions they portray onstage to be aucharacter entirely, you use the

The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (...
The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as long as
human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has. Naturally, with
such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time and time again by new
artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and meaning to timeless concepts, but
to find new ways to approach them. While not every single creator and craftsman can make such a
great impact on art or the world, their efforts have given birth to some truly magnificent and unique
works. In an effort to create a more meaningful understanding, as well a deeper appreciation, of the
nuances, techniques, and design choices employed in these attempts, a comparison will be made
between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude
(Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will
be closely analyzed, compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual
elements, and their use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist
intended when creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with
Vuillard s oil painting Interior With a Screen. This piece depicts a female nude placed in the interior a
large and furnished room; the woman appears to be slightly hunched over

both the practitioner and the theorist are most interested in whether an intervention or sanction has an
effect on criminality or not. Determining the rate of recidivism is one way to measure this effect.
Although the recidivism cannot accurately be measured just by using arrest data because not all crime
is discovered, it can be measured in different ways. One of them is interviewing offenders to
determine whether they have committed crimes since entering or exiting a program or sanction.
Another one is analyzing officially recorded criminal justice events like arrests, convictions, and

Color Purple Archetypes
Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, portrays the main character Celie as an introverted butterfly
who has yet to come out of her cocoon, hiding away from confrontation and actions that could cause
negative reactions. As the story progresses, she blossoms before the reader, becoming more present in
her world where she would otherwise be shuttered in. Her character development is due to the
introduction of two very empowering and independent women, acting as female archetypes
throughout the novel. Shug, a woman with a fiery personality that ignites inspiration in Celie to
further herself as a woman, is the main focal point of the female archetype in this novel. Celie wants
to change herself; not to fit into the mold in which Shug has pushed herself into, but to better her life.
Shug s personality was able to rid Celie of the internal dark cloud living inside her. Shug is clearly
identified as a female archetype throughout the novel; an empowering woman who stands against the
odds she has been faced with. Another female archetype in the novel is Sofia, Mr._____ s (Celie s
husband) daughter in law. Sofia shares many qualities when compared to Shug; however, in a more

becoming a caregiver of sorts. She can also be seen as possessing the hero archetype because Celie
admires Shug and aspires to be similar to her, not in her behavior but her confident personality. Celie
sees how easily it is for Shug to stand up for herself and to act confident around higher male figures,
both are things she has never managed to

Unmatched Socks
Before I officially start I m giving you a chance to see who is wearing unmatched socks. I prefer if
you looked now instead of in the middle of my speech. Hey, my name is Hannah and my speech is
about unmatched socks. It isn t unusual to find me wearing unmatched socks. I have probably been
doing this since the time I started to dress myself. I m positive there are adults, seniors, kids, and other
teens who do this too. My speech includes tips to keep socks together, time spent matching socks,
where to find single socks, and sock trends. One reason why we wear mismatched socks is due to lost
socks. There isn t a need to throw out a perfectly good sock, so when we lose one sock in a pair we
save the other one. Often this lonely sock is matched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No, there isn t. Missing socks are usually hiding around the house. The common places to find
missing socks are under beds, sofas, and lounge chairs. While moving your wet clothes to the dryer, in
between the tub and drum of your washing machine. Socks can also be found behind or near your
washer and dryer. For all those people who match their socks let s find out how much time you spend
altogether matching socks. If one person matches 7 pairs of socks each week for 71 years. In one week
they would spend 40 seconds matching socks. Not that big of a deal right? Over 71 years that is 41
hours wasted matching socks. To me that is a waste of time. Those 41 hours could ve been spent doing
something on your bucket list. Maybe spending outside on beautiful days. Worried your mismatch
socks might look out of place. Well, you shouldn t. Mismatch socks are totally in style. You can even

make a statement, and are a good conversation starter. Try to use your socks to piece your outfit
together. Do this by making them the most colourful article of your outfit. For now I recommend
keeping your socks the same length. To me wearing one ankle sock and one knee high sock seems
odd. But who knows if sometime soon the fashion world may accept two different lengths of

European Court of Justice
Introduction:
We have chosen to write this assignment on the European Court of Justice (ECJ), looking into its role
in the European integration process, and how its rulings and judgments have affected the business
framework. We will also be looking into the effects of its rulings on state sovereignty, and how in
some cases its rulings have limited states power over certain policy areas and handed them to the
European Union. We will start by looking at the radical jurisprudence of the European court of justice,
and what political reactions have arisen to that, and how that has changed/affected the integration
process. To get a better understanding, we will incorporate the use of neo functionalism and rational

The main reason behind the spillover effect is increased effectiveness. Two important spillovers here
are functional and political. This allows institutions to expand their activities to areas not under their
jurisdiction/mandate so they can function more effectively. In cases regarding free trade there is bound
to be an increasing amount of spillover, due to the wide ranging nature of the economic issues,
especially on issues such as trade barriers and tariffs. This has been evident from the verdict in the
case of Cassis de Dijon which we will return to later on. Based on various rulings the ECJ could be
seen as an active promoter of the spillover effect.
In the Maastricht treaty the principle of subsidiarity was incorporated into the treaty, which the British
government pushed for. The reason for this was to limit the transfer of power from the member states
to the EU institutions. The decisions should be taken at the lowest possible level, closest to the citizen.
However, the concept of subsidiarity remains to be defined clearly, and thus holds immense ambiguity.
As a consequence, subsidiarity can be used as an argument both by those who desire greater autonomy
for member states and by those who want the EU to become a federation.
Neofunctionalism argues that actors, whether

Erin May Be Liable For Tort Of Negligence
Going by the scenario of incident given in the pleasure boat mishap, Erin may be liable for tort of
negligence where a person s conduct falls below a reasonable standard and harms another.
However, in order for there to be a successful claim against Erin in the court, the following elements
of tort of negligence has to be established; that she owe a duty of care to any potential claimant, that
she has breached that duty of care, that her breached of the duty of care caused the harm suffered by
the claimant, and that the damage was not legally too remote.
The court will also consider whether Erin foresaw the harm and whether the parties acted in a
reasonable way.
There is the possibility that Erin might be liable to several parties which includes; each of the
holidaymakers on board the pleasure boat at the time of the accident (subsequently referred to as

breakdown victims).
We will take each potential claimant case one by one.

Death rituals are an important part of concluding a person s life in nearly all faiths, so the person can

Terence Lovat s theory of the five step approach can be delivered in a Islamic death ritual through the
series of events in the lead up and post of the funeral. The preparation of the funeral happens before
the death of the person. When the Muslim is dying, someone must firmly but gently prompt the person
dying to say the holy declaration prayer, this is called the Shahaada. People can then offer their
condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased, this in Islam is an important act of kindness.
The next important factor is the physical cleansing of the body. The bathing of the corpse is an
important part of Sunnah the Prophet , this is a part of the Islamic Shari ah. The method, the style and
the accessories that are used may vary from time to time and from place to place. After the body has
been cleansed, the corpse is then wrapped in a plain simple cloth, this cloth is called Kafan and the
process called Takfeen . The main factor while wrapping the body is to respectfully cover the private
part, so they aren t visible to others. Islam traditions state that the cloth must be a material must be a

Cecilia is without any doubt one of the main characters of Atonement written by Ian McEwan. He is
able to show the reader her passionate, pensive and passive state through her behaviour and attitude in
various scenes. Her character is not as deep as Briony s or Robbie s as the reader does not get many
chapters in which one can hear her thoughts and feelings. Nevertheless Cecilia s actions say a lot
about her; how she took of her her clothes to get to vase manifests her stubborness and well. More
over her character is further developed through her interactions with Robbie from the letters she sends
him. The reader feels that Cecilia is idle at the start of the novel. She goes to her home however she is

However Robbie does so out of concern for Polly who was cleainig the floor. Furthermore when the
incident of the vase occurs, she does not acknowledge that it is their attraction which makes them
nervous, so she links it to class difference again. Her undressing near the fountain and plunging in the
fountain suggests that Cecilia views herself as one of the Furies or Erinyes, the merciless Goddesses
of vengeance in Greek and Roman mythology. She thinks that if the drowns, it will be Robbie s
punishment, drowning would be his punishment . This reminds the reader of Cecilia s over
dramatisation. Cecilia s thought about how she cannot smoke in her father s presence and how she
disobeys this rule makes the reader think that she believes that since she went to University and spent
three years amongst the most sophistacated, she is now indipendent. The lector witnesses Cecilia s
preparations in the dressing for dinner. She is unsettled and changes her dress twice before she is
satisfied with her appearance. It seems that she wants to impress someone, maybe Robbie. This idea
commences when Cecilia goes infront of the mirror before going out to fill the vase with water, ...she
wondered about going out to Robbie. It would save her from running upstairs. But she felt
uncomfortable and hot, and would have like to check her appearance in the large gilt mirror above

Eyewitness Testimony Essay
The Accuracy of Eyewitness Testimony is a major topic in our society. Eyewitness Testimony is often
used during crime scene investigations. Although a Testimony by a bystander or a victim regarding an
incident is a great tool for further investigation, testimonies are often times false and can lead to false
accusations. The research question, how accurate is eyewitness testimony, will be studied. The
purpose for this project is to determine the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. The hypothesis, High
school students tested for selective attention and accuracy of eyewitness testimony will demonstrate
no more than 25% accuracy in their recall of the events, will be tested. There is an abundant amount of

It is very important to address the topic of eyewitness testimony. There have been many cases in the
past where people were falsely accused because the only evidence used was eyewitness testimony.
The very first exoneration in the United States took place on August 14, 1989, on that day DNA
evidence freed Gary Dotson from his wrongful rape conviction. It is very important also to make the
public aware that eyewitness testimonies are often times incorrect meaning more biological tests need
to be conducted to accurately convict someone. The Innocence Project has proved many times that
conviction solely based on eyewitness testimony is not ideal. In a research conducted by Stenzel C it
was stated that Today, the leading cause of wrongful convictions is eyewitness misidentification . This
is the main reason why the accuracy of eyewitness testimony needs to be further addressed, so there
are no wrongful convictions in the future. There were not many solutions available in the past over the
issues of eyewitness testimony. This caused many individuals to be falsely accused; however, in 1981
professors from Princeton published a paper regarding how people remember information. The
remembrance of past event is of huge importance to eyewitness testimony because witnesses are
questioned based on what took place during the scene of a

September 11, 2001 is a date that has been etched into our nation s history. On that date, four airplanes
were hijacked by men from the terrorist group, al Qaeda, and were used as weapons of an act of
terrorism. In the span of about three hours, the four planes that ve been hijacked crashed into New
York City s World Trade Center, the Pentagon just outside of Washington DC, and onto a field in
Pennsylvania. On this date, approximately three thousand americans were killed that morning. In

The term enhanced interrogation techniques is constantly being used in lieu of the word torture. This
may be due to the fact that the form of torture is illegal in the United States.
However, with torture being illegal on United States soil, there is a loophole in the situation. Places
like Guantanamo Bay for example, are military prisons or detention camps containing prisoners being
put through abuse and torture. Rayman s article for Time magazine, Guantanamo Bay Detainee

Inspector Dupin s The Murders In The Rue Morgue
Mystery novels have been an intriguing subject to a lot of readers. A famous mystery novel writer,
Edgar Allan Poe, had explained meaningful life lessons within his words, in his story, The Murders in
the Rue Morgue. His story contains a strenuous case to investigate and the character, Inspector Dupin,
is the only key to figuring it out. The outcome of the turning point had an immense influence to
several things in the story. The discovery of the broken nail is significant because of its effects on how
the killer got in and out, how carefully Dupin analyzed his clues, and proving even the smallest clues
have a big impact. The damaged nail has been a significant piece of evidence to finding out who the
killer is and how they could ve escaped. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

place in juxta position (Poe 3 4). Dupin inspects every inch of the room and building until he is
satisfied; showing that he knows it takes full carefulness and alertness to find a clue. As Dupin
continues, he explains his logical inferences with great honesty, considering that lying is not a usage

must have misunderstood the nature of the inductions. To use a sporting phrase, I had not been once at

Immanuel Kant And Karl Marx
In an effort to understand progress and its goal in humanity, philosophers Immanuel Kant and Karl
Marx each present their theories with Kant believing progress is made through the reform brought on
by antagonism and social instability in humanity which will ultimately lead to perpetual peace, while
Marx argues progress comes in the form of a worker s revolution and the adoption of true communism
that will lead to utopia. These German thinkers seek to define the guiding the force beneath humanity
s constant state of evolution to understand where it is headed and advise towards a goal they find ideal
for humanity.
Through an analysis of human characteristics, Immanuel Kant concludes progress is driven by
humanity s innate behavior of contempt for one another, which he refers to as antagonism. In Kant s
essay On Universal History , his fourth thesis states, The means employed by Nature to bring about
the development of all the capacities of men is their antagonism in society, so far as this is, in the end,
the cause of a lawful order among men. By this, Kant means that man finds himself in mutual
opposition with his peers, but this opposition, as deemed by nature, is the force driving mankind s
development. According to Kant, man has a conflicting, natural tendency to both associate and isolate
himself from others. The former because society gives him the ability to feel he is more developed
than his individual capacities allow for, and the latter is a consequence of his

had been decorated for his service in the Union Army during the Civil War. His Mom s brothers

Argumentative Essay On US Draft
U.S. Draft Essay
The United States of America has always been a country based on the protection of its citizens
freedom. Due to this long held principle, which comprises the country s core values, the concept of
universal national service (more commonly known as the draft) is quite controversial. Advocates for
the draft argue that the drafting of eligible Americans is necessary to preserve a strong military that is
capable of protecting the U.S. from possible attacks, as well as instilling a sense of national pride in its
youth. While the draft could potentially strengthen the military in theory, the draft could also be quite
counterintuitive in reality. Furthermore, the U.S. Draft, in some ways, could be infringing on citizens
human rights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned above, military officials see the draft as unnecessary. In addition to these officials,
public opposition to the draft is growing. According to a survey, 80 percent of Americans opposed the
draft in 2007 (Text 5, graphic). If the majority of the country opposes something that would directly
affect its youth, then that something should not be reinstituted. Public opinion on the reinstitution of
the draft reflects the opposition that would be present if it were reinstituted. Draft eligible Americans
would most certainly try to find a way out of military service, as draftees have done in the past. But
because the public opinion on the draft has shifted dramatically since 1980, where 59 percent of
Americans were in favor of the draft, the resentment associated with serving would most likely be
higher (Text 5, graphic). This resentment is almost inevitable, especially with pro draft arguments
claiming the need to serve in the military in exchange for citizenship rights (Text 1, line 61). Rights
granted by citizenship should not have requirements in order to make use of them; that is why one is
granted these rights with U.S. citizenship and not after serving in the military. Not only are citizens
rights at stake, but also the right to education. Bill Maxwell argues that serving in the military should
be a requirement in order to attend college (Text 3, line 45). Military service as a requirement for
college would definitely

Negative Effects Of Working On Teenagers
Work! Work! Work! Work! In today s society, teenagers are seeking jobs to earn money even though
they have school. Sometimes they are forced to get a job because they need to help their parents for
their financial problems. It is very common to teenagers to get a job at a young age. It did not really
change back then about children s working at such a young age when they should be focusing on their
education. Getting a job is everyone s dream because they can earn money and get experiences. Avery
Neumark quote says that, Never too early to start. Anything can happen any time, this quote relates to
teenagers because they need the head start to do something in life. Sometimes the job that they have
pushes teenagers to do their best. Working early has both positive and negative impact to young
adults. However, that is their only way to survive in this world is to get a part time job to at least help
them. Having a job help teenagers to be on time to avoid consequences, expansion of knowledge, and
realize the reality of life. A job that is common to teenagers is working at McDonalds. This is common
because it is an entry level job and a good way to start. Working at McDonalds help teenagers be more
attentive in listening because they need to get the customer s order right before the customer gets mad.
In every job, they need to be on time because if they are on time, they have consequence. As an

The Battle Of The War Essay
IV. Essay On December twenty third of the year 1776, Thomas Paine wrote the renowned words,
These are the times that try men s souls. Never had truer words been written. Not only was the
revolution trying for the men of the colonial army, but for the British army, and all those who had
something riding on the outcome of the war. Though they were subjected to different sides of the war,
George Washington, King George III of England and William Howe all experienced the hardships and
trying times of the year 1776. General George Washington knew that he lacked experience with
almost all aspects of the war. He had retired from military life fifteen years before the revolution, and
had never led an army in battle, commanded anything more than a regiment or directed a siege. He
accepted the command of the army on June 16, 1775 where he warned Congress, [should] some
unlucky event happen unfavorable to my reputation...may it be remembered by every gentleman in the
room that I this day declared with the utmost sincerity, I do not think myself equal to the command I
am honored with. (McCullough Pg. 49) Washington knew his limits, but what he did not know was the
state of disarray that the army was in. Washington arrived in Boston the first week of July, 1775. No
head count had been taken, and when an official count was taken, Washington learned that instead of
the twenty thousand men he had been informed he had, he had sixteen thousand with only fourteen
thousand fit for duty.

Specialty Chemicals From Pyrolysis of Waste Tire Rubber: A Business Risk Assessment Professional

company. Amiare, LLC, through a patented pyrolysis technology, produces a universal paraffin
dispersant which is utilized in the oil and gas industry for enhanced oil recovery and tank bottom
cleaning. The overall objective of the internship with Amiare, LLC was to conduct qualitative
research, document, and present findings regarding the competitive landscape for a new entrant in the
product and service market for chemical treatment of oilfields with reduced or minimal productivity
due to the presence and buildup of paraffins and asphaltenes. The rise in crude oil production drives
demand for asphaltene and paraffin inhibitors while creating risks identifiable with market entries into
the Enhanced Oil Recovery industry. I suggest some qualitative elements from the work of Bruce
Merrifield* to help guide my preliminary risk assessment to determine the merit for further
quantitative investigation. Introduction Crude oil extractions have been growing continuously
worldwide over the years. The challenges for crude oil producers in controlling asphaltene and
paraffin deposition in reservoir storage and processing are parallel with the ever increasing rise in

Let There Be Light And There Is Light
And God said, Let there be light, and there was light (Genesis 1:3). This sentence can be the most
famous sentence that has ever been written. When the light was created, the faith of the universe, earth
and humanity were completely redesigned. The control of our universe was given to its owner, light.
We were born into a universe that light governs us. However, we couldn t realize it in a short span of
time. After that moment, the perception of humanity towards light, a mysterious phenomenon, has
altered a lot; nevertheless, light has never lost its meaning of being fundamental for anything related to
human, conversely, we discovered beyond what we knew about it.
Light exhibited its significance since the existence of early humans. Thousands of years ago, humans,

Sean Vander Meulen remarks, Light is one of the fundamental forces. It is one part of the council that
governs our universe. (Vander Meulen). We learned that light is in this council after scientific
discoveries. Before these discoveries about light, we knew that light was important for sight and art;
however, scientific perspective provided much more information about light. Other than technological
developments, we learned the role of light in the universe. According to scientific discoveries of
Albert Einstein, speed of light is the speed limit in our universe, and there is nothing that can move
faster than light or reach it. This is not about how big the energy needed is, or the friction force. Even
if we will be able to provide too much energy to a spaceship someday, it won t be able to reach the
speed of light. That is a law in our universe, and it is an unbreakable one. With this new discovery, our
understanding of light completely changed again; hence, it became the fundamental limit in our
universe, from just a tool for our technological

U.s. Government Budget Deficit And Debt
There are many original and ingenious opinions and analysis related to a topic on U.S. government
budget deficit and government obligations and liabilities. As a result of the economic circumstances
and current consequences of budget deficit in the United States there have been many controversial
hypotheses of what future may bring to the American people. Therefore, I would like to face deeply
inquire in to of how our countries government deficit and outstanding debt will affect its citizens and I
also assume there are new challenges taking place as the consequence of rising government debt.
To provide evidence to the current U.S. government budget deficit and government external debt
situation we should take a closer look at the government budget deficit, national and personal debt in
the country. First, I am going to start with a definition of U.S government deficit: It is essentially the
difference between what the U.S government spends in any fiscal year and the revenues it takes in.
Any time the spending exceeds the revenues, the federal government runs a deficit. As many may
already know the United States must increase its revenue or reduce expenses during the next decade in
order to farther debt and loss of creditability in the world financial markets. There are several ways to
balance the U.S government without giving up the nation s increase of collective productivity and
growing economy. Government can reduce expenditures by finding more cost

Critique of Tyler and Wiggins
In his book Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction, Ralph Tyler outlines four critical
components of curriculum that may serve as a guide to the creation of curriculum as well as a tool for
the analysis and interpretation of curriculum. The four basic components consist of educational
purposes (or objectives), educational experiences (or learning activities), organization, and evaluation
(Tyler, 1949, p. 1). While Tyler does speak to each of these four components, nearly half of the book is
devoted to the section on objectives. For Tyler, the objectives are the starting point in the development
of the curriculum and the cornerstone upon which the rest of the curriculum is shaped. Given the shifts
that have occurred in education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My critique, based on time and resources, of Tyler s objectives, leads directly into my next critique of
this particular section. Let s assume that it is possible to conduct all of the research and studies that
Tyler suggests. I then wonder, is this information more appropriately used for the development of
objectives, as Tyler suggests, or for the development of learning activities and enrichments? Tyler
speaks frequently of student interests. He suggests that children s interests must be identified so that
they can serve as the focus of educational attention (Tyler, 1949, p.10). I agree with Tyler on this
point, yet I think that this information is better used in the development of learning activities than it is
for the creation of objectives. Take, for example, Tyler s example of the sixty percent of boys in a
ninth grade class that only read comic strips outside of school. With this information, I think it is more
likely that a teacher will create a learning activity that reigns in this interest than it is that the objective
will be changed. This ninth grade class made up of mostly boys interested in comic strips may still
have the same objective as the ninth grade class made up of mostly girls who enjoy reading
CosmoGirl magazine, but the teachers could do different activities to accomplish the same objectives.
The first class may create

The Tell Tale Heart Mood
This poem is about the murder of an old man. In The Tell Tale Heart, Edgar Allen Poe uses dark
details, diction, and imagery to convey a haunting mood. The murderer expresses how he killed the

haunted by the murderer stalking him. In the Tell Tale Heart the author uses dark details to show a
scary and spooky mood. The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them . This
illustrates that he is using negative and dark scary words to show spooky details about the old mans
disease. When I had made an end of these labors, it was four o clock still dark as midnight . This

to a certain category to the extent that it is similar to a typical case from that category is the definition
of representativeness heuristic (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini 78). The correct answer to question 30,
which is a definition, is correspondent inference theory. Franklin dislikes the Rush Limbaugh radio

The norm of reciprocity requires that we repay others with the form of behavior they have given us

causing her and others to run away to safety from the factions. Fear, identity, values and family can all
be identified as major themes within the text. Through these settings, characters, storylines and themes
countless differences and similarities can be found between both The Giver and Divergent.
Various similarities are highlighted between The Giver and Divergent through their settings,
characters, storyline and major themes throughout the texts. Numerous amounts of similarities can be
identified in The Giver s setting and Divergent s setting. Such things as both settings are seen to be set
in the future some time and both texts have elements of sameness throughout them like having the
same house within the community and in the factions of Divergent. The two texts also show a main

The Reproduction of Inequality
Definitions In relation to the topic, MacLeod explains social reproduction as the theory that explains
how societal institutions perpetuate or reproduce the social relationships and attitudes needed to
sustain the existing relations of production in a capitalist society. (MacLeod 9) In this definition, the
societal institutions are places like, government offices, and schools. These institutions according to
him help continue to maintain the status quo by preserving the existing barriers between classes. To
investigate this there are two main ways to analyze the situation, one can use the advocate
deterministic model or the model that focuses more on the autonomy of the individual. The
deterministic model takes into account the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final form of capital referenced is the cultural kind. This primarily deals with, from the section
entitled Cultural Capital and Habitus: Bourdieu s Theory of Reproduction, the general cultural
background, knowledge, disposition, and skills that are passed form one generation to the next.
(MacLeod 12) One term related to this premise is habitus, in the same article, Macleod referenced
Bourdieu in relation to this topic. Bourdieu s habitus is composed of the attitudes, beliefs, and
experiences of those inhabiting one s social world (MacLeod 13) and this combination results in
profoundly internalized beliefs and values that influence an individuals reactions toward various
aspects of life, most notable in this situation, education. What is most notable about this is how the
educational system reacts to these ideas of capital. In the article, Bourdieu comments, among all the
solutions put forward throughout history to the problem of the transmission of power and privileges ...
[the] solution which the educational system provides by contributing to the reproduction of the
structure of class relations and by concealing ... the fact that it fills this function. (Bourdieu 72) He
says this because the belief is that schools hold a neutral attitude when it comes to the ideas of capital.
It is this exact form of political correctness is continuing the cycle of the reproduction of inequalities.
An example demonstrating this is when one fills out the

Assess The Difference Between Globalisation And...
Deindustrialisation in London Over the past 50 years, the UK s employment structure has changed in
line with the Clark Fisher Model. 50 years ago, the UK s secondary sector was of fairly high
importance with 38% of people employed in it, but since 1960, it has been in decline with the UK
experiencing deindustrialisation. In 2010, only 18% of of people were employed in the secondary
sector while 80% of people were employed in the tertiary sector. The main reason for this is
globalisation. Since goods can now be transported a lot easier, many companies prefer to hold their
manufacturing units offshore in LEDCs such as China, India, Bangladesh etc. Land and labour in
these countries are a lot cheaper, allowing more goods to be manufactured ... Show more content on

This would result in the government needing to spend more on social security for these workers.
Additionally most of these people would need to be re trained and re skilled to perform other tasks.
This would again require a large amount of funds to do so.Sheffield used to be UK s steel industry
until the 1980s when the industry declined dramatically with deindustrialization. As a result of
industrialisation 120,000 people lost their jobs between 1971 2008, a 74% loss. On the other hand the
deindustrialisation of Sheffield has improved the water and air quality in the area. During the
industrial period the factories would expel large amounts of industrial waste and exhaust fumes. Since
these industries have shut down no waste is being dumped into the waters and the air quality has
improved as there are no exhaust fumes being released. In addition old industrial sites are now
available for regeneration to be made into apartments or shopping centres. These are known as
brownfield sites. In conclusion deindustrialisation in UK has both its positive and negative effects.
The movement toward the tertiary and quaternary sector has allowed the country s economy to grow
drastically over the last few year. It has also allowed the carbon emissions to reduce and water quality
to increase. Due to these factors the quality of life and standard of living for many people has also
risen in the last few

My Brief Time in a Wheelchair
My Brief Time in a Wheelchair
Why didn t she smile at me? Why did he avoid eye contact with me? I smiled, I said hello. Ah, yes.
The wheelchair. For a split second, I forgot that I was sitting in a wheelchair as the young couple
scurried by me. It seemed so natural for me to smile and greet someone as they pass, and it hurt that a
similar greeting was not returned.
This was not the only hurtful reaction I received as I learned to operate a wheelchair around a K Mart.
And, it was not easy to maneuver myself around the store. At one point I knocked down a pile of
blankets on a shelf and in the clothing section, I caught my wheelchair on a rack of shirts.
The point of my experiment in a wheelchair was to note ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was another distinctive reaction I received. For the same reason adults looked away from me,
children stared. I was an adult who was at their level, height wise in reality, but maybe seen as an
equal to themselves. They stared and I imagine they wondered about me with love and concern only a
child can give unconditionally to anyone. They ask themselves why is this person in a wheelchair and
how is that fair? It is the child s parent who teaches them not to care by hustling their child out of
sight, as if my looking at the child is a cancerous wish upon them to receive my disabled fate.
Subpart B, General Requirements, Section 36.201 of the Americans with Disabilities Act, passed in
1990, says the following: Prohibition of discrimination. No individual shall be discriminated against
on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges,
advantages, or accommodations of any place of public accommodation by any private entity who
owns, leases (or leases to), or operates a place of public accommodation.
The ADA makes any discrimination against disabled people just as illegal as the 19th Amendment for
Women s Suffrage made it illegal to discriminate against women. Disabled people are afforded the
same opportunities as anyone else, but as I have learned, prohibition

I decided to write about the Network Flow Case Study. In this paper I will provide examples from the
text and provide the theories that fall behind the problems. After explaining the examples I will
provide some real world application and some references on them.
Example 1:
You are needing a new A/C in your home and you are looking to save money on the work and on your
bill/bills. The A/C technician explains he can save you some money by using some material that was
left over from other jobs. As seen in the picture below: Would this work for this application? This
would work. The A/C technician is required to know some type of algebra ... Show more content on

In this example the table shows where an employer was asked to hire more employees in order to
cover 100 departments with 30 different areas. Each new employee would work in areas 1, 2, and 3.
The area assigned to the employee would be determined by the employer him/herself. The table above
givens an example of how it will go. Then the overall question would be how the assigned areas
would be split up.
When it comes to converting the table above into a graph to the answer, I am at a little bit of a loss.
The employee numbers 1, 2, and 3 would then be converted into vertices D1, D2, and D3 and the
different areas into A1, A2, and A3 which is shown in the diagram below: In the diagram you have to
replace the S s with D s and the C s with the A s.
I believe the assigned areas would be given to the employees by the employer. An employer would be
assign to an employee by random. The employee would follow the employer s number through the
graph. This would start in area 1 and continue on through 3. If you have 100 employers and 30
employees they would be assigned in areas as 34, 33, and 33 this would allow all areas to be covered
and the jobs completed in

slept in sitting rooms or dining rooms, creating an inability to care adequately for sick household
members (Baker, et al 2000; Altman, 1975).
WHO (2008, p. 425) refers overcrowding as a situation in which more people were living within a
single dwelling than there was space for, this type of living creates no privacy, hygienic ways
impossible, rest and sleep difficult. The people in Armall do not enjoy their sleep they were always

Mark Twain Research Papers
Samuel Langhorne Clemens, or better known as Mark Twain, had a much more difficult life than most
of us realize. He went through some tough trials through out his years. Mark Twain has admitted to his
childhood influencing his novels. I believe our trials lead us to to do great things. Difficult roads often
lead to beautiful destinations. Melchor Lim Samuel Langhorne Clemens, 6th child of John and Jane
Clemens was born on November 30, 1885 in Florida, Missouri. In 1839, when Samuel was 4 years
old, his father picked up and moved the family to Hannibal, Missouri in search of employment so he
would be able to support the family. He stayed here until he was 17 years old. This was the town that
influenced him to later write Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Samuel was exposed to violence at a

Everyone close to Mark seems to be leaving him behind. In 1902 His wife Livy becomes extremely
ill. In 1904, Livy, Mark s wife of 34 years, that he loved so greatly passes away due to syncope. In
1906 Jean is committed to institution. His youngest daughter, Jean is diagnosed with severe epilepsy.
In 1909 Jean (age 29) dies of a heart attack. Mark Twain s last year s were very dark and depressing
due to all of his trials and loved ones he has lost. Much of the last decade he lived in hell. Hamlin Hill.
Mark underwent a lot of trails and tragedies, but I believe that is what made him such a great writer,

  • 2. Stravinsky Influence On Society Stravinsky is undoubtedly now one of the most influential pioneers due to his musical innovations in new music at the beginning of the 20th Century. Stravinsky was born in 1882, into the privileged society of pre revolutionary Russia. In his early years, he was raised strictly under the faith of the Russian Orthodox Church, which is said to have led on to have a large impression on his compositional styles. At the tender age of 9, Stravinsky s talent in keyboard improvisation had become apparent at this stage being influence by composers like Glinka and Tchaikovsky. During his early 20 s, although studying law at university, he began private lessons in composition from Rimsky Korsakov. It was during this time that Stravinsky began some of his well known works, such as Fireworks and a symphony, in which the talented young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Subsequent to this Stravinsky s career took another turn, into the ballet. During this time some of his most famous ballet works produced The Firebird and Petrushka. These ballets began to demonstrate the immense skill in Stravinsky s bold and audacious orchestral writing. The Rite of Spring In 1913, Stravinsky premiered his arguably most famous and influential work The Rite of Spring. This ballet ended up to potentially be a very controversial work, pioneering new ideas in both the music and the choreography. This was Stravinsky s third ballet for Diaghilev s company, the Ballet Russes, who primarily performed Russian themes. • 3. The Issues Of The Refugee Crisis Introduction We dream of a united world but reality makes us question this concept throwing at us the stories of unfortunate people deprived of their basic human rights. Increase in Refugee flows is now the major concern of contemporary international relations. This essay will first briefly explain the refugee crisis. Secondly, discusses the different approaches adopted by different countries to address the issue. Third, the paper aims to discover the various ethical aspects and apply theories to evaluate and analyse the issue and finally put forward possible solutions. Background Refugees are by lawful definition, individuals asserting to have a very much grounded trepidation of abuse in their nation of source in light of their race, religion, national birthplace, political feeling, or participation in a specific social gathering (Schuck, 2008). There were roughly 1.5 million displaced people far and wide in 1951, when the United High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) was initially settled developing to 8.2 million by 1980. In 1997, the UNHCR assessed that there were more than thirteen million exiles universally, speaking to an expansion of 866 for each penny in 44 years (Loescher 1992; Dupont 1996; Stalker n.d.a). In 2001 and 2002 coinciding with the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, number of refugees intensified. 2005 to 2009 saw an increase in the number of Sri Lankan refugees, with the country ushering in a state of emergency, and the Government declaring victory in a ... • 4. The Causes Of Hate Crime The murder of Matthew Shepard in October of 1998 sparked a movement against the seemingly new gay hate crime. Before the crime there was all sorts of laws and bills that were being decided upon that affected the LGBTQ community, but the murder of Matthew Shepard really brought LGBTQ rights into the light. Hate crimes oriented towards LGBTQ persons are not new, and have not decreased in frequency in the recent years despite the inclusion of anti hate crime laws that were brought into place. Being educated on the topic and my role as a citizen in this country, I know that there is still a lot of growing that needs to take place in order to let the United States be one hundred percent accepting of the LGBTQ community and prevent more hate crimes from arising. There is a systematic denial of rights in the United States currently that reflects the time period surrounding Matthew Shepard s death. In order to successfully combat the denial of rights and the oppression the group faces that leads to murders like Shepard s, it is important to take a look at what exactly is the cause of this inherent hatred of difference and start from there. One of the best approaches I can think of is to look at the issue from the standpoint of a justice oriented citizen. As a justice oriented citizen, the response to this issue would be to look at the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community. LGBTQ discrimination can be considered a political issue, what with recent happenings like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is another packed night at the Comedy Cellar on Macdougal Street, siting in the audience is a group who has just walked in from the bustle of the big city. Naturally, the stress of daily life hangs like a tangible fog, and peoples spirits rise in hope to forget about their own problems and laugh their worry away. A grumpy, fat, balding, middle aged man saunters on stage and makes some witty remark about how life sucks. In many ways he is right, everyone laughs, people relate to his struggles. Life is hard, and when flaws get exaggerated, it s hilarious. This is what Shakespeare does in his comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by making extreme simplifications and drawing on human imperfections, it becomes easy to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where is the line defining how much trust you should have in another persons word? In the case of Beatrice and Benedict, their trust in the admonition of their peers led them to be manipulated and their thoughts were tainted. However, their deception turned out to catalyst true love. As soon as their love virus spread, the two witty, independent individuals completely dismissed the disdain that they so grudgingly held for one another. This satiric event exposes the idea that quite possibly one should spend a bit more time processing and questioning information handed to them. Beatrice and Benedict fell into the influence of the conspirators and all previous ideas of one another dissipated. In my personal opinion, I would have a bit more trouble than Beatrice when falling for a man who referred to her as Lady Disdain and who compared her intellectual, tenacious wit to a horse (pg. 12). So either the people of Shakespeare s time didn t hold grudges, or he is making fun of people who will give up all prior knowledge in the interest of love. (It s the second part, if you were confused.) The desperate will that all humans have for love is powerful, and Shakespeare is criticizing the ease that people have at shutting their third eye (knowledge) when blinded by ... In the past, only the extremely devoted fans would check on their teams online but now, the norm has changed. Now the devoted fans learn new information before anyone else, and even get rewarded for it. In the article The Passion of the Fan , by Stewart Feil, fans are being rewarded for posting about their favorite teams on social media. The reason this is possible is because mobile apps have greatly contributed to the way fans follow their teams. By doing this, as computer hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in general. • 12. The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (... The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as long as human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has. Naturally, with such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time and time again by new artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and meaning to timeless concepts, but to find new ways to approach them. While not every single creator and craftsman can make such a great impact on art or the world, their efforts have given birth to some truly magnificent and unique works. In an effort to create a more meaningful understanding, as well a deeper appreciation, of the nuances, techniques, and design choices employed in these attempts, a comparison will be made between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will be closely analyzed, compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual elements, and their use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist intended when creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with Vuillard s oil painting Interior With a Screen. Color Purple Archetypes Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, portrays the main character Celie as an introverted butterfly who has yet to come out of her cocoon, hiding away from confrontation and actions that could cause negative reactions. As the story progresses, she blossoms before the reader, becoming more present in her world where she would otherwise be shuttered in. Her character development is due to the introduction of two very empowering and independent women, acting as female archetypes throughout the novel. Shug, a woman with a fiery personality that ignites inspiration in Celie to further herself as a woman, is the main focal point of the female archetype in this novel. In cases regarding free trade there is bound to be an increasing amount of spillover, due to the wide ranging nature of the economic issues, especially on issues such as trade barriers and tariffs. This has been evident from the verdict in the case of Cassis de Dijon which we will return to later on. Based on various rulings the ECJ could be seen as an active promoter of the spillover effect. In the Maastricht treaty the principle of subsidiarity was incorporated into the treaty, which the British government pushed for. The reason for this was to limit the transfer of power from the member states to the EU institutions. The decisions should be taken at the lowest possible level, closest to the citizen. However, the concept of subsidiarity remains to be defined clearly, and thus holds immense ambiguity. As a consequence, subsidiarity can be used as an argument both by those who desire greater autonomy for member states and by those who want the EU to become a federation. Neofunctionalism argues that actors, whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in order for there to be a successful claim against Erin in the court, the following elements of tort of negligence has to be established; that she owe a duty of care to any potential claimant, that she has breached that duty of care, that her breached of the duty of care caused the harm suffered by the claimant, and that the damage was not legally too remote. The court will also consider whether Erin foresaw the harm and whether the parties acted in a reasonable way. When the Muslim is dying, someone must firmly but gently prompt the person dying to say the holy declaration prayer, this is called the Shahaada. The bathing of the corpse is an important part of Sunnah the Prophet , this is a part of the Islamic Shari ah. The method, the style and the accessories that are used may vary from time to time and from place to place. After the body has been cleansed, the corpse is then wrapped in a plain simple cloth, this cloth is called Kafan and the process called Takfeen . The main factor while wrapping the body is to respectfully cover the private part, so they aren t visible to others. These German thinkers seek to define the guiding the force beneath humanity s constant state of evolution to understand where it is headed and advise towards a goal they find ideal for humanity. Through an analysis of human characteristics, Immanuel Kant concludes progress is driven by humanity s innate behavior of contempt for one another, which he refers to as antagonism. By this, Kant means that man finds himself in mutual opposition with his peers, but this opposition, as deemed by nature, is the force driving mankind s development. Due to this long held principle, which comprises the country s core values, the concept of universal national service (more commonly known as the draft) is quite controversial. Advocates for the draft argue that the drafting of eligible Americans is necessary to preserve a strong military that is capable of protecting the U.S. from possible attacks, as well as instilling a sense of national pride in its youth. While the draft could potentially strengthen the military in theory, the draft could also be quite counterintuitive in reality. As mentioned above, military officials see the draft as unnecessary. In addition to these officials, public opposition to the draft is growing. According to a survey, 80 percent of Americans opposed the draft in 2007 (Text 5, graphic). If the majority of the country opposes something that would directly affect its youth, then that something should not be reinstituted. Public opinion on the reinstitution of the draft reflects the opposition that would be present if it were reinstituted. Draft eligible Americans would most certainly try to find a way out of military service, as draftees have done in the past. But because the public opinion on the draft has shifted dramatically since 1980, where 59 percent of Americans were in favor of the draft, the resentment associated with serving would most likely be higher (Text 5, graphic). This resentment is almost inevitable, especially with pro draft arguments claiming the need to serve in the military in exchange for citizenship rights (Text 1, line 61). Rights granted by citizenship should not have requirements in order to make use of them; that is why one is granted these rights with U.S. citizenship and not after serving in the military. Amiare, LLC, through a patented pyrolysis technology, produces a universal paraffin dispersant which is utilized in the oil and gas industry for enhanced oil recovery and tank bottom cleaning. The overall objective of the internship with Amiare, LLC was to conduct qualitative research, document, and present findings regarding the competitive landscape for a new entrant in the product and service market for chemical treatment of oilfields with reduced or minimal productivity due to the presence and buildup of paraffins and asphaltenes. The rise in crude oil production drives demand for asphaltene and paraffin inhibitors while creating risks identifiable with market entries into the Enhanced Oil Recovery industry. • 40. Mid-Term Examination In my social psychology class, there was a recent examination given to the class. It was the mid term examination. For the mid term examination, the class was instructed to read chapter s 1 6 in the text book. The class was also instructed to study for the exam by reviewing the lecture notes. In this paper I will focus on a few questions I answered incorrectly on my mid term examination. The exam contained 48 multiple choice questions and two true/false questions. Out of this 50 questions total, I answered 18 incorrectly. One of the questions I will focus on is located on the second page. The question reads, Nicole has just met some new people in her dorm. Another choice was the representativeness heuristic. A mental shortcut through which people classify something as belonging to a certain category to the extent that it is similar to a typical case from that category is the definition of representativeness heuristic (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini 78). The correct answer to question 30, which is a definition, is correspondent inference theory. Franklin dislikes the Rush Limbaugh radio talk show. At a party, Franklin meets Jefferson, who lavishly praises the Rush Limbaugh show. Franklin takes an instant dislike to Jefferson. Which of the following psychological theories would best predict Franklin s response to Jefferson (Huck) , was also one of the questions I missed on the mid term. This is question 46 which is located on the seventh page. For this question I answered reciprocity theory. I don t even know if there is a reciprocity theory but there is a norm of reciprocity. The norm of reciprocity requires that we repay others with the form of behavior they have given us (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini, 196). Franklin did not repay Jefferson with the same behavior so this is not the answer. The balance theory states that we all prefer to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Reproduction of Inequality Definitions In relation to the topic, MacLeod explains social reproduction as the theory that explains how societal institutions perpetuate or reproduce the social relationships and attitudes needed to sustain the existing relations of production in a capitalist society. (MacLeod 9) In this definition, the societal institutions are places like, government offices, and schools. These institutions according to him help continue to maintain the status quo by preserving the existing barriers between classes. To investigate this there are two main ways to analyze the situation, one can use the advocate deterministic model or the model that focuses more on the autonomy of the individual. (MacLeod 12) One term related to this premise is habitus, in the same article, Macleod referenced Bourdieu in relation to this topic. Bourdieu s habitus is composed of the attitudes, beliefs, and experiences of those inhabiting one s social world (MacLeod 13) and this combination results in profoundly internalized beliefs and values that influence an individuals reactions toward various aspects of life, most notable in this situation, education. What is most notable about this is how the educational system reacts to these ideas of capital. • 43. Assess The Difference Between Globalisation And... Deindustrialisation in London Over the past 50 years, the UK s employment structure has changed in line with the Clark Fisher Model. 50 years ago, the UK s secondary sector was of fairly high importance with 38% of people employed in it, but since 1960, it has been in decline with the UK experiencing deindustrialisation. In 2010, only 18% of of people were employed in the secondary sector while 80% of people were employed in the tertiary sector. The main reason for this is globalisation. Since goods can now be transported a lot easier, many companies prefer to hold their manufacturing units offshore in LEDCs such as China, India, Bangladesh etc. Land and labour in these countries are a lot cheaper, allowing more goods to be manufactured ... Additionally most of these people would need to be re trained and re skilled to perform other tasks. As a result of industrialisation 120,000 people lost their jobs between 1971 2008, a 74% loss. On the other hand the deindustrialisation of Sheffield has improved the water and air quality in the area. During the industrial period the factories would expel large amounts of industrial waste and exhaust fumes. Since these industries have shut down no waste is being dumped into the waters and the air quality has improved as there are no exhaust fumes being released. In addition old industrial sites are now available for regeneration to be made into apartments or shopping centres. These are known as brownfield sites. In conclusion deindustrialisation in UK has both its positive and negative effects. The movement toward the tertiary and quaternary sector has allowed the country s economy to grow drastically over the last few year. It has also allowed the carbon emissions to reduce and water quality to increase. Due to these factors the quality of life and standard of living for many people has also risen in the last few ... For a split second, I forgot that I was sitting in a wheelchair as the young couple scurried by me. It seemed so natural for me to smile and greet someone as they pass, and it hurt that a similar greeting was not returned. This was not the only hurtful reaction I received as I learned to operate a wheelchair around a K Mart. And, it was not easy to maneuver myself around the store. It is the child s parent who teaches them not to care by hustling their child out of sight, as if my looking at the child is a cancerous wish upon them to receive my disabled fate. Each new employee would work in areas 1, 2, and 3. The area assigned to the employee would be determined by the employer him/herself. The table above givens an example of how it will go. Then the overall question would be how the assigned areas would be split up. When it comes to converting the table above into a graph to the answer, I am at a little bit of a loss. The employee numbers 1, 2, and 3 would then be converted into vertices D1, D2, and D3 and the different areas into A1, A2, and A3 which is shown in the diagram below: In the diagram you have to replace the S s with D s and the C s with the A s. I believe the assigned areas would be given to the employees by the employer. An employer would be assign to an employee by random. The employee would follow the employer s number through the graph. This would start in area 1 and continue on through 3. If you have 100 employers and 30 employees they would be assigned in areas as 34, 33, and 33 this would allow all areas to be covered and the jobs completed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
