The New Frontier For Our Modernized World
Seafare, the new frontier for our modernized world. Cunard Line shipbuilding franchise. Back the
1800 s, the main goal for shipbuilding companies around Europe, was the crossing of the great
Atlantic Ocean. These competitions would rowel up the people of Europe, giving them more
reason to believe that mankind can perform anything. The Atlantic voyages, were the space race
of the 1800 s, each company tried to make the biggest ship, and the fastest ship, to make it across
the Atlantic in record time. However, even in this golden age of Atlantic travel, many problems
slowly brewed across Europe. Even in the races, captains were blinded by their intent to finish first,
the lives of the passengers lied at stake. In this time, many ships sunk... Show more content on

However, the explosion will remain a mystery, since no recognition of a sub was found.
After the wreck of the Britannic, the rival company of white star line, Cunard line, create a marvel
just as great as the Titanic. That was the Lusitania, this ship was a grand liner, with huge
ballrooms and dining halls, for the wealthy first class. However, underneath all of this leisure
and happiness, lied a dirty secret. Underneath the hull of the Lusitania, held hundreds of pounds
of gunpowder and weapons for the fighting in World War Two. The ship was then dispatched off
the coast of England, to deliver the cargo and passengers to the Norwegian front. However, off
the coast of a picnic gathering on the coast of Ireland, a family spotted the beautiful ship gliding
across the blue water, but something they saw would change the kids and their lives forever. In
the distance, the family saw a large puff of thick black smoke rise from the bottom or the ship, the
sound then echoed through the empty pasture of grass, they could do nothing, but watch the scene
in horror. Meanwhile, on the ship, lifeboats were being launched only half full, and many did not
make it in the water. Then suddenly a large fire spewed up from the bottom of the ship, and blasted
six lifeboats, people were jumping in the water hoping to survive, then something far worse
happened. From underneath the ship, a huge fire

Analysis Of Normal Life By Dean Spade
Dean Spade and Critical Trans Politics
Activist and professor Dean Spade, in his book Normal Life: Administrative Violence, Critical
Trans Politics, and the Limits of Law, condemns current law policies surrounding discrimination
and hate crimes against transgender and gender non conforming populations. Spade proposes a
critical trans politics that is superior to the equal rights efforts of gay and lesbian activists up to this
point in United States history. Instead of desiring to be included in a law enforcement system that
oppresses the people it claims to protect, proponents of Spade s critical trans politics argue that the
entire system, along with all related systems of policing and regulation, need to be either

This drastically reduces the life chances of poor people, queer and trans people, immigrants, and
people of color. In practice, every law system and mainstream law reform effort has attempted to
assign people and groups of people into two categories: who is worthy of a chance at a good life,
and who is not. Spade s proposal of a critical trans politics creates a system in which life chances are
redistributed in a way that gives marginalized groups the opportunity to survive and succeed. Within
the United States government en masse, there are many legal systems that contribute to the uneven
distribution of life chances and thus require dismantling and radical reconstruction. These include
the criminal justice system, the education system, the prison system (also called the prison industrial
complex), the social welfare system, the immigration system, the housing system, the healthcare
system, and the U.S. military. Each of these legal and political systems in some way targets a
specific population within the United States, very often transgender and gender variant people, and
directly reduces that population s life chances. This is the issue that Spade seeks to amend when he
proposes the move toward a critical trans politics.
Changing how large governmental structures function is neither an easy task nor a quick one; it
will require the undoing and unlearning of a very tightly held political and economic system by all
parties involved. At the center of Spade s call for

Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up
This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show,
Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show
three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances
were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday,
December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the
high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited
little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an
open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one
moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed
names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there
was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking
up. Despite all the distractions coming from the audience, the performers did a great job staying in

There were definitely fewer people at the Saturday showing and the atmosphere seemed different
than it did the day before. I believe this was the case because there was a larger number of adults
which probably made the kids feel less free to show their bubbly enthusiasm. My fellow clowns
and I also felt a bit more awkward because there were fewer kids to entertain and there were a few
preteens and teenagers who most likely thought we looked really stupid. The performers didn t let
the lack of involvement slow them down and put on an incredible

Avatar Imperialism
Money, military, death or subordinance, these are the main elements of imperialism. Imperialism,
the practice of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military force, is
often thought of as negative because of the use of military force. The age of imperialism lasted
from 1870 1914. One example of imperialismfrom this time period is when the countries Britain,
France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Spain all took control over different parts of Africa. One
movie that accurately portrays this ideal negatively is Avatar, a movie directed by James Cameron
and released on December 18, 2009. Avatar is about a group of ex military soldiers that travel to

The Nature Of Evil In The Lottery And A Good Man Is Hard...
While there are many natures of evil throughout the world, the reoccurrence of social injustice
throughout previous generations have laid the foundation for many writers in the early twentieth
century. Authors Flannery O Connor and Shirley Jackson grew up in the thick of racial diversity
that America was enduring. The Lotteryand A Good Man is Hard to Findhelp exemplify the
importance of moral and natural eviland its effects on the world by using traditional and
untraditional forms of these immoral actions.
In A Good Man is Hard to Find there are two main characters who fit the description of evil.
Whether it is the pretentious grandmother or the unlawful Misfit, O Connor touches upon the
violence and grotesque that she witnessed in her youth (O Connor). The grandmother is a
woman who grew up during the times when racial diversity was more prevalent and clearly was
brought up by a successful family. A little sympathy could be shown towards the grandmother
since most of the narrative is through her eyes, but like The Misfit she has cruel intentions. The
sophisticated lifestyle she lived isolated her from all the harshness in the world and led to her to
believe that her way is always right. This is until The Misfit approaches her and his acquaintance
takes the remaining family to the woods to be murdered. The Misfit has his own internal logic
leading him to believe he is killing because that is what makes him happy, not because he is blood
thirsty. In fact, he is

Emirates Airline: Connecting the Unconnected
Introduction
Late afternoon was fading to dusk as Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, gazed out at the
large crowds mingling outside at the 2013 Dubai Airshow. Front and center at the event was the
official program launch of the Boeing 777X, a massive new hit thanks to Emirates record order of
150 new planes. Valued at $76 billion at list prices, this was the largest airplane deal ever inked.
Letting his thoughts drift, he noted, he imagined with pride these planes joining the collection of
widebodied Emirates planes assembled on the tarmac of Dubai International Airport, ready to ferry
passengers from Europe, Asia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the sunset reflected its dying rays on the aircraft on display, he pushed these thoughts to the back
of his mind and returned to the event at hand.
Aviation in the Middle East
The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier
backed by the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several
European carriers serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high
market share. The majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle
East, South
Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network.
As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled
Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family
commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to
charter the service they named Emirates. Divisional Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate
Communications, Marketing Brand Boutros Boutros remarked, Locals or expats, management all
had the same outlook and shared mentality, which ultimately helped build a successful and
cohesive executive team. 6 Armed with only two planes and $10 million in seed capital provided
by the
Government of Dubai, the airline initially developed a regional focus to connect underserved
markets. Emirates

Avoid Revving A Diesel Engine
Some people enjoy having a diesel engine in their car because it provides more horsepower
compared to a standard fuel engine. It gives them the ability to tow things that are very heavy
such as trailers and boats, and can be fuel efficient as well. Here are a few things to consider that
will keep your car s diesel engineworking great.
Avoid Revving A Cold Engine
Since diesel engines are powerful, you may be tempted to rev your engine to warm it up before
heading out onto the road. Doing this when the engine is cold can actually be very bad for it.
When fuel is cold the fluid can be much thicker than normal, and it won t flow smoothly like it
does when it is warm. This will cause unnecessary wear on a diesel engine.

Gold Rush Women
Assessments of the California Gold Rush often apply to a romantic gloss, suggesting that the
colorful Days of 49 were a brief , exciting interlude in an otherwise orderly narrative. The Gold
Rush was romantic, brief, and exciting, but it was much more than that. During the 19th century
California seemed like a paradise for both men and women looking to escape the East coast in
search of a new life and opportunity. Many men and women took the opportunity to escape from
the west coast to start a new life at the booming industry in California. Many of these travelers were
successful in their new adventure while others were not, however it was different for women from
different ethnic backgrounds who suffered a inhumane fortune due to the imbalanced gender
difference present in California. The culture found in California during the gold rush provides
different perspective on the treatment of women and how the standards of sexuality were less
important in the United States.
To begin with, while the Native women and Chinese women were being mistreated, in contrary, the
White women of higher class were often considered the most complimentary for marriage. These
women were chosen by many men, they received numerous gifts and pleasant treatment. However,
on the other hand, Minority women were particularly Indian and Chinese, they had a much different
unfortunate experiences during the gold rush. Native Americans and Chinese women were often
forced into prostitution around the gold

Architecture Based On Functionalist Concepts
An example that demonstrates that architecture based on functionalist concepts can be creative,
sensitive, but still efficient, economically viable and standardized is the Sarah Network headed by
architect Filgueiras Lima, also known as LelГ©. The Sarah Network is a group of rehabilitation
hospitals, conceived in the late 1959. The first rehabilitation center was built in the following year,
in the new capital of the country, BrasГlia, during the government of Juscelino Kubscheck. In 1992
was created the CTRS Network Technology Center Sarah, where all components have been
developed, fittings, joining elements, furniture, in short, all the pieces that make up the
constructive system of buildings. Then in 1993 it was built the first hospital in the industrial
system, in SГЈo LuГs, MaranhГЈo. After this, were created eight hospitals under the same system.
It is important to point out that the main elements of the system employed in this network of
hospitals are prefabricated reinforced mortar and steel (for the base structure and to cover). The
mortar was chosen because of the architect and his team s experience, which had already developed
elements with this material for large scale and quality of finish, whereas the steel was chosen by the
domain of the working team on the various processes involved (casting, lamination, mounting,
welding etc.) and also by the lightness, ease of transportation, since some units were distant from
the center of technology, and ease of handling,

Human Trafficking And Its Effects On Human Rights
Human trafficking is an assault on human rights and a violation of one s dignity by means of
forced labor, sex trafficking, bonded labor, and/or domestic servitude. It remains to be both a local
and global issue, occurring in nearly every country, and its networks are vast and formidable to
investigate (Jesionka 2012). Despite government, activist groups and other organization s methods
of intervention, human traffickingis still a major concern with more individuals enslaved now than
ever before. Traffickers are able to coerce, deceive, threaten, and obtain complete control over
their victims. Many of whom are poor, illegal immigrants in search of a job to help support and
provide for their families. In their poverty and desperation, they willingly fall victim to the trade
and end up abused, overworked, underpaid, and most often unable to return home.
Throughout this class we have examined multiple different countries in which human trafficking
still remains an unsolved issue. Such as, Afghanistan s opium brides, Bangladesh s factory
workers, Thailand s child prostitutes, agricultural slaves in the United States, and baby trafficking
in China. How do so many individuals end up trafficked? Why does this still remain such a large
problem in the 21st century? Is it something that is forever ingrained in our society? I chose to
explore these couple of questions and more in hopes of answering the last one. Maybe slavery is
part of our culture and something that will never be

Human Trafficking And The United States Essay
Human trafficking doesn t happen in third world countries only. It doesn t just happen to poor
people and it certainly doesn t solely happen to women. It is present here in the USA but it is
hidden, and even worse, so are their victims. They are everywhere yet invisible. They are silently
crying for our help through their eyes and smiles. According to Polaris, ...the prevalence of sex
trafficking in the United States is still unknown, we do know that women, children, and men are
being sold for sex against their will in cities and towns in all 50 states . Human traffickingcan
happen to anyone even to Theresa Flores, the author of The slave across the street ( Sex
trafficking 2015). An average 15 year old American girl, coming from a privileged background and
a respected family became a victim of sex trafficking and through her book, she convinces us that
human trafficking doesn t have a specific demographic.
Theresa was a good catholic girl. Her faith was important to her. She went to mass on Sundays,
her mom was very involved in the community and her dad had a very important job. Her family
was the normal American family. Her dad s job required them to move around a lot and because of
that she never had true friendships. One day her family moved to Birmingham and her life changed
dramatically.
In her new school, Theresa had a crush on an older Chaldean boy named Daniel, little did she know
that that this innocent crush will turn her life into nightmare. Chaldeans had a

Important Elements Of The Professional Life
Important elements of the professional life
Social sustainability, culture influences and business ethics are always related to our daily life as
well as our career life. In this paper, I will handle three different reflective pieces which are why a
business ought to be concerned about social sustainability, how the lack of cultural understanding
might impede a professional career and the relevance of ethics in my professional life.
Why a business ought to be concerned about social sustainability
Social sustainability is the maintenance of the external and internal factors of the business. Quite
some firms have been found guilty of neglecting this aspect of social sustainability. This factor is
important in the growth of an all around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Culture is a way of life of a people. Cultural factors include the belief and meaning, gender and
generations, inquiry and learning, recreation and creativity as well as health and well being
(Desjardins McCall, 2014).
Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen developed the social sustainability framework which is a basic
structure that is laid out by the company in order to enable it to achieve its goals and social
sustainability. Moreover, this framework has four dimensions that include equity, diversity,
maturity, governance and democracy, social/interconnected cohesions as well as the quality of life.
When the four dimensions are implemented in the business, it is able to achieve a high social
sustainability (Shaw, 2016).
An example of a sustainable business is the forest stewardship council which is a company that
was founded in 1933 in Bony in the country of Germany. Its primary focus is to provide a global
sustainable forestry. This company has worked smart over the years to give education to the
citizens regarding the benefits of maintaining the forests and some of the benefits include clean
water and air. Besides, this company also discourages deforestation, global warming, and illegal
logging. This business strives to maintain the environment and incorporates the principles of
sustainability in its decisions. Therefore, it has been able to meet the needs of the

At Seminary one morning, I walk in (sleepy as always), sat down, and listened to the lesson, and
around the end of class he, the teacher, shared a memorable experience. After being in the MTC
(Missionary Training Center), Michael Labarge went to France to serve a two year mission
sharing the gospel. He said to me, when you go on a mission, you are going to have some
missionaries that you just can not stand. LDS, Latter Day Saints, Missionaries do not pick
companions, they are assigned one. (I am not certain what the Elders name is, so I will refer to
him as Elder Mans.) Michael was assigned Elder Mans. Elder Mans was a very negative, lazy,
abrasive, and Judging person, and when the two of them had to be with each all the time, Elder
Labarge would have to endure his companion all day. The Elder had an amazing ability to be
able to complain about anything, for example, weather, food, schedule. Also at times, he would
be lazy and not went to go teach anyone that day, but then he would get on Michael case if some
little thing went wrong. For example, If Michael forgot to start a lesson with a prayer, Elder Mans
would talk to Michael for hours about what he did wrong. Michael also shared with the class that
Elder Mans once followed him into the bathroom because he thought that he had to be in eye sight
of him all the time, but he pushed Elder Mans out of the bathroom. Many times he would argue
and fight with Elder Mans, but it only made the situation worse. One day, Michael visited the
missionary president to ask him what he should do about his companion. The missionary
president s advice was to serve his companion. Reluctantly, he tried to serve his odd companion.
He would make his companion breakfast, make his bed, help carry his backpack, and ect. Soon, he
saw a change in the relationship with Elder Mans. Elder Mans started to do some

Therapeutic Recreational Types Of Therapeutic Recreation
What does therapeutic recreation mean to me? Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes
recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of disorder, mentally, physically
or emotionally. My personal belief is that recreation can be used to help anyone become happier or
more comfortable than they already are. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a

According To Any Of The Labeling Theories
Final Exam
Short Answer
1.What is meant by the concept of a societal reaction? According to any of the labeling theories,
describe two ways that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant.
@According to labeling theory, the societal reaction refers to the responses of formal and informal
agencies of social control towards deviances, no behavior is inherently deviant on its own, instead it
is this reaction to the behavior that determines what is considered to be deviant.
@One way that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant involves
the concept of vigilantism, to some people they see vigilantes as heroes and thus they advocate to
legalize their actions while to others they see vigilantes as deviant as they are no better than the
crooks that they are trying to catch and thus they advocate to criminalize their actions
@Another way that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant
involves the discussion of police killings to some people they see the police as heroes and thus they
argue that sometimes dangerous situations call for extreme actions while to others they see police
killings as horrid and reckless and thus they argue that they should focus more on subduing their
suspects rather than shooting them so advocate to criminalize their actions.
2.What are two of the primary contributions of feminist criminology/feminist theory?

By the looks of it, both of the men got to know each other quickly since they had the same
interest in finding new ways of making money after all they did not have much of it. Curtins
was tired of living that hard life. As luck would have it they met an old timer named Howard
who claims to know how to find gold in a Mexican Mountain. Dobbs and Howard accompany
him considering the fact that he was old and would not be able to do much heavy lifting. As
long as everyone came along with the agreement that they would split the money equally. Both
of the men, Dobbs and Curtin, had a realization as they were heading into the mountains that
they have a great deal in learning how to find the gold. Over the span of a couple of months,
they accumulated thousands of dollars worth of gold. One day Curtin went into town for
supplies and met a fellow American from Texas named Cody. Cody was suspicious of Curtin
because of the possibility of gold in the mountains. Without Curtin knowing, Cody followed him
back to the campsite where he discovered that gold did exist on the mountain. All three of the
men, Howard, Dobbs and Curtin, got selfish and wanted the gold for themselves. They talked
privately and agreement to murder Cody in order to keep the gold as a secret from the world.

The Pros And Cons Of Tanning
Tanning has become increasingly popular over years. The question is it beneficial or a bad
business deal to start. The truth is tanning is convenient method utilized by many individuals to
gain skin tone and color, builds self esteem and promote relaxation. It can be beneficial in many
aspects of our lives as well as an alternative to more harmful exposure but there are always risks at
everything you do. Dermatologists today are against it for the simple fact that they believe it
causes skin cancer. According to NCI (National Cancer Institute) exposure to UV radiation whether
from the sun or from artificial sources such as sunlamps utilized in tanning beds increases of
developing skin cancer. IRAC (International Agency for Research on... Show more content on

Being capable of doing this would be beneficial to some people because it doesn t take as long and
sitting out in the sun. There is a controlled dosage of the ultraviolet rays to reassure the consumer
does not receive a large amount of UV ray, these dosages should be spread out over several
sessions. A great aspect of tanning is clients get privacy in their own booth. Weight, being too
white, tan lines and uncomfortable bathing suits are not an issue with the tanning beds. Another
advantage to tanning is it is all year round. It doesn t matter if it is snowing or raining outside you
can still get the benefit of a captivating skin color.
Indoor tanning beds can have a negative impact on your skin. It can cause premature wrinkles,
rashes, and can cause cancer. Tanning is like a slow cooker that can slowly affect your skin and
your aging process. When tanning it is suggested to ask the salon staff the recommended exposure
limits for your skin type. Always precautious when you decide to tan for example if you do not
wear goggles then it can damage your ocular perceivers such as losing your vision. Wearing indoor
sunscreen would be a good precaution for your skin and you should consider your medical history
for going tanning. Secondly, knowing the type of bulbs when tanning is very important. The
tanning lamps release ultraviolet rays your body can tan. They contain: inert gasses, a little
mercury, and phosphorus coating.

Abstract: Utility management systems (UMSs) have become more common for government
agencies, and their use has recently been advocated by AASHTO on a statewide basis. By
identifying current utility locations and correlating utility related information between ongoing and
upcoming projects, UMSs can reduce the occurrence of unexpected delays and cost overruns
resulting from unforeseen utility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is defined as a set of
web based methods of facilitating both internal utility related communications and necessary
communications between the state
DOT, municipalities, and utility companies as projects are planned and constructed (AASHTO
2014).
Even though this study is mainly focused on the use of UMSs for utility relocation activities as a
requirement for the completion of transportation construction projects, the authors recognize that
the potential capability of these systems may involve virtually all utility related procedures required
by transportation agencies.
Therefore, and for the purposes of this paper, a UMS is defined as a set of policies and information
technology resources aimed to improve utility related procedures and activities by facilitating
coordination and communication within the agency and, in some cases, among stakeholders (e.g.,
public agencies, utility owners, contractors, and the community). The principal goal of UMSs is the
reduction of time and cost by expediting processes, identifying potential utility conflicts in a timely
manner, and optimizing decision making procedures. The range of features of the system may vary
depending on the specific preferences, capabilities, and requirements of each agency. For instance,
at the state level, while the UMSs

Dr Caligari Expressionism
Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist films, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
(1920) remains one of the most influential films of both German cinema and the silent film era.
The iconic visual style of Caligari embodies the element of revolt that is accepted to be the basis
of Expressionism, which is defined as a total revolt against the existing order both in terms of style
and idea, society and the individual, art and ethics (Barlow 18). Caligari makes use of the mise en
scГЁne in order to overcome the restrictions of black and white film. In this way, the expressionist
stage, the startling zigzags, the swirling arabesques and the outrageously exaggerated furniture that
compose each shot all contribute to the portrayal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caligari set the standard of the movement in film, fulfilling a number of expectations theorists had
for this transition of mediums; the set represents an emotional landscape, a projection of the
intense feelings of the main character, exaggerated acting with an extreme degree of emotional
intensity serves as a silent visual replacement of the outcry and exclamation of expressionistic
poetry and theater, and, to replace the vibrant colors of Expressionist art, there are considerable
contrasts between light and shadow (Barlow 25). All of these visual aspects made Caligari the
most noteworthy of German Expressionist films, and was more than likely the inspiration for the
film noir style that emerged several decades later. The limitations of sound and color do not detract
from Caligari s ability to visually express common themes of Weimar Germany, most prominently
those of authority, insanity, and duality. Such themes are expressed so prominently that it has led
many to interpret the film as a close examination of society in the Weimar Republic and the
implications the film had for Germany s future. Nevertheless, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligaricertainly
influenced the revival of the Expressionist movement through film, and its influence stands the test

Essay on A Continuation of To Kill a Mockingbird
The day after my twelfth birthday, the money had almost completely burned a hole in my pocket.
Scout and I started to town in the early afternoon to purchase a steam engine for me and a twirling
baton for her. We took our normal path, right by Miss Dubose s house and unfortunately, she was
out on the porch.
Where are you going at this time of day? she shouted. Playing hooky, I suppose. I ll just call the
principal and tell him! She looked like the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Oh, did I ever hate her.
Aw, it s Saturday, Mrs. Dubose, I said.
It makes no difference, she screamed.

me with a confused, horrified look on her face. I kept on moving.
We got to town and I bought the steam engine I had been wanting. I did not really care, just tossed
it in my pocket like a gum wrapper. We went by Elmore s for Scout s baton that she had been
longing for. I could not think of anything. I was not mentally there. I don t think any part of me was

As we were passing Mrs. Dubose s empty porch and gate, I lost it. With as much force as I could I
yanked Scout s baton from her and ran wildly up the wicked lady s steps into her yard forgetting
everything I knew. There was not a thought in my mind about what Atticus had taught me about
being a gentleman, or the kind of pistol Mrs. Dubose carried in her shawl.
I did not stop until I had cut the top off every sickeningly beautiful camellia bush the old hag
owned. As the ground collected green buds and leaves, I bent and cracked Scout s baton in half
on my knee. She was wailing after that, so like the mad man I was being I grabbed her by the hair
and told her if she did not shut up I would pull it all out of her head. She did not cease, so I kicked

Embedded Systems Programming Steps
Six Steps to Start Learning Embedded Systems Programming
When it comes to improving your applications, embedded programming is a fantastic tool to use.
But just like with a lot of programming tools, learning it can be tricky especially in knowing how
and where to start. To help you find the whole thing just slightly less daunting, here are some tips
for you to get started.
These are not, of course, the only way to go about learning embedded systems programming.
However, if you are new to the concept, these steps might make it easier to get started and help
you focus on the things that actually matter. Indeed, these six steps are designed to make learning
embedded systems more effective and faster. So, let s look at the steps.
Step #1: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before that, you do need to sort out your equipment. You will need physical equipment since
embedded systems programming is all about the physical world.
What are the things you need? You will need to purchase at least the following items to get started:
A microcontroller
Soldering iron
Digital multi meter (DMM)
A hardware debugger or JTAG adapter
Logic analyser
Finding these items online won t be difficult or costly. To cut down the price of electronics, you
should check which retailers are available through the OZCodes.com.au website. The vouchers can
help you find all the starting tools without paying yourself sick.
You can find the items as individual components or in some instances, shop for them as a starting
kit for embedded systems programming. The key is to just compare reviews of the different tools
and shop around for prices.
Step #4: Choose the microcontroller
You then need to select the microcontroller you want to use in order to get your embedded systems
running. There are plenty of different options to go with. The one you choose should be something
suited for your skill level and budget. Here are a few ideas to keep in mind when selecting the
microcontroller:
STM discovery kit is a good option for those starting out. They are cheap and accessible in terms of
use.
ARM tend to be the most commonly used option for embedded programming

special status given to achievement, researchers in education have been tempted to investigate
factors affecting it. Therefore the researcher believes that shedding light on some of these factors
may help in finding a solution to this problem and in upgrading the level of students achievement.
Ebel (1972) claims that the variables most directly related to students achievement are Socio

the current CEO. Hence, this part of the chapter 4 will display five main topics of the research
collected from the interview as well as providing some direct quotes of the CEO.
4.4.1.Company Overview
It is essential for the researcher to gain insights into the operation and development of BigChange.
The CEO responded with meticulous answers about current situation and growth strategies. To
illustrate, the CEO believes his company is in the early phase of growth. Though they have just
offered their services and products for 2 years, their performances in the market are remarkable with
the annual revenue of ₤2 million. Moreover, he estimates the market share that the company has
gained after two years working is from 0.5% to 1% and he confirms that the UK telematics is one
of the biggest markets in Europe. Thus it seems to take BigChange more time and efforts to achieve
its ambition as a market leader.
When asking about the current strategy of BigChange, the CEO demonstrated that they are
providing services and products to specified industries in the UK by creating different industry
sites. Then they introduce sites and services to a customer coming from those industries, it will be

Stigma and cultural norms, along with poor diagnosis or medical infrastructure, could be
undermining prevalence rates, masking the amount of children that have autism in developing

According to the DSM 5 Autism is define as neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by
impaired social interaction, verbal and non verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive
behavior. Although we have yet to talk about autism in class I did write about it in my previous
assignment. Autism effects the processing of the brain, which tends to delay development and
language. Around cultures autism is widely known.
In the U.S. Children with ASD can grow and can learn, however it s at a different development
rate than other healthy children. Many professionals studying the field of autism can agree that
developing an appropriate community based education and treatment program for an individual
with ASD at an early age is a very important step to ensuring that the child will reach his or her
potential. Not saying that older children or adults cannot learn or develop, it just may take longer
or children may do it quicker.
Autism is considered a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first
three years of a child s life. The result of this neurological disorder affects the functioning of the
brain by slowing the development of language and cognitive processing autism and its associated
behaviors have been estimated to occur

Intellectual Property ( Ip ) Essay
Intellectual Property (IP) can be broadly described as using human intellect to create something
new or original, and it is collectively comprised of four categories: Trade secrets, trademarks,
copyrights, and patents. Intellectual property is a valuable asset that must be protected and
strategically managed. To fully foster innovation, intellectual propertyprotection is crucial. If
protection is lacking, than businesses and individual would not fully benefit from their inventions
and could possibly refrain from research and development. Intellectual property drives economic
growth and competitiveness. The direct and indirect economic impacts of innovation are
overwhelming, accounting for more than 40% of U.S. economic growth and employment (GIPC,
2015, para. 3). Intellectual property contributes tremendously to our national and state economies.
IP accounts for 74% of all US exports, which amounts to nearly $1 trillion. It is also important for
consumers. Solid IP rights assist consumers in making choices about the safety, effectiveness and
reliability in their purchases.
Many industries count on sufficient enforcement of their IP, by means of trade secrets, trademarks,
copyrights, and patents. According to the USPTO (2015) In the United States patents are available
to any person who invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or
composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof (para.6). There are three types

Students should quickly recognize that an overall measure of capacity for the facility isn t much

member were homogeneous, such as a cafeteria or airline flight, then an overall measure of

With these issues in mind, the students can develop capacity estimates similar to the following:
1.Aerobics
*Assumption: Aerobics classes begin on the hour and last for 50 minutes.
*Capacity: 1 class per hour for 35 members
2.Cardiovascular
*Assumption: During peak demand times, each piece of equipment is limited to 30 minutes per
member.
*Capacity: With 29 pieces of C V equipment, 58 members per hour peak capacity
3.Nautilus
*Assumptions: Each member takes 1 minute to complete each exercise. The machines are set up so
members flow through in a sequential manner.
*Capacity: Maximum capacity at a steady state; cycle time 1 minute. 60 members per hour
Over the three hour peak demand period, the Nautilus area may only process 156 members because
it will take 24 minutes for the first member to complete the entire 24 machine cycle.
These three areas of the club are the major areas of concern due to customer complaints, and they

Tennis:12 members/hour for singles 24 members/hour for doubles
Racquetball:16 members/hour for singles 32 members/hour for doubles

The Doctrine Of The Trinity Essay
Doctrine of the Trinity The Trinity is a hard concept for the human minds to fully comprehend.
Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one.
Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus
coming out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of Goddescending like a
dove and a voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit, clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinityinterpreted in the
Bible is Genesis 1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God
is having a discussion with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many
references throughout the New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The
Godhead is three in one, therefore each one has a different role, yet the same person. The Father
sends and directs; The Father sent the Son (1 John 4:10), the Son came down from heaven
through the virgin Mary, not to complete his will but the will of the Father. The Son was sent as
human form to be a living sacrifice to save us from all sin. The Holy Spirit resides in and
sanctifies the church. The Holy Spirit is there with us, guiding us in every step. He is renewing us
and convicts us; He is omnipresent. To show the

SO2, as a pollutant with high reactivity, attracts attention of many scientists due to its property to

which can cause serious damage to the environment [1,2]. The acid rain issue, whose pH value is
under 5,6, occurs in 40% of the territory in China [3]. European most endangered regions are the
Netherlands, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic [4]. Apart from the primary pollutants such
as SO2, NO2, CO2, CO and soot particles, one can also find heavy metal particles in the air which

Seasons when people are exposed to hazardous effects of pollutants have a considerable effect on
health of people [16]. SO2 from the atmosphere impacts increase of blood pressure during the
winter, while there is no such effect during the summer [17]. However, the impact of pollutants on
blood pressure is not quite clear, which is confirmed by the results of investigation which are
contradictory. Pollutants do not have a big influence on the increase of death cases of people over
65. With growing old the impact of pollutants increases [18]. The conncetion between pollutants and
death of children younger than 5 is not statisctically important. Investigations show that pollutants
do have an impact on the health of people of all age, not only on elderly people [19]. Weather
conditions have a major role in the interaction between pollutants, thus, there is certain difference in
the obtained results of investigations conducted at different locations [18]. Pollutants that appear in
the air can act separately, however interactions between them can frequently occur and then they
have a more negative impact on environment and the living world [20]. It is hard to specify the

Legal Drinking Age Essay
For many of the generations living today, the legal drinking age has always been set at twenty
one. In the 1980 s, it rose from eighteen to twenty one in an attempt to reduce the amount of
underage drunk driving accidents. The number of traffic fatalities has significantly declined over
the past few decades. However, many would argue that the law has spawned many new problems
as well, such as an increase in alcohol poisoning deaths and binge drinking.
As previously stated, the primary reason for adjustment to the legal drinking age was to address the
preposterous number of drunk driving accidents. The United States has experienced a decline in
all age groups over the last 25 years and for that, the law has been a success. Although these
statistics are encouraging, one must also wonder if more has contributed to this decline than the
law itself. 1984 was a completely different time period. Since then, airbags have become a
mandatory component of every car, and laws requiring that a seat belt must be worn are enforced
in most states, reducing the impact if one was to ever be involved in a crash. In addition to the

From nature preservationists to ancient ruins advocates the subject has been heated and intense. On
the other hand, those who support Lake Powell are just as avid and active in their defense of the
reservoir. One of the former, Edward Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf

Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was dammed up.

These effects are perfectly normal when working with a reservoir and as he points out are not
permanent. Sodden garbage strewn about, dead trees, sunken boats, the skeletons of long
forgotten, decomposing water skiers; (147) These are all attempts to bring the reservoir in a
negative light but these do not come from the reservoir but from careless patrons and the
inevitable accidents. If the number of people who visited Lake Powell visited the former Glen
Canyon area, the garbage and deaths and other negative aspects would be at the same ratio because
some humans are simply careless and draining a reservoir is not going to change that.
Often times Abbey tries to appeal to our emotions through connotation and metaphors by creating
a picture perfect image of what Glen Canyons used to be like with its varied flora and fauna and
beautiful landscape. Unfortunately this attempt is flawed because anyone who has ever been to
Lake Powell or seen pictures knows that it is equally as beautiful as and maybe even more so than
the common river and surrounding landscape scene.
Abbey employs a great use of sentence structure and connotations when refuting the claim that Lake
Powell is the most beautiful reservoir in the world. Certainly it has a photogenic backdrop of buttes
and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of stagnant waters where the speedboats,
houseboats and cabin cruisers play. But

Reuven Friendship
Unbreakable Friendship in The Chosen Friendship is one of the most valuable components in
life. Friendship has the ability to change lives in a positive way. Friendship changes people s
views on life to a more positive outlook. True friendship is when someone knows you better than
yourself and takes a position in your best interests in a crisis. Friendship goes beyond sharing
time together, and it is long lasting. (Friends.com). As we spend a lot of time with our friends,
friendship opens our minds to different ways of viewing the world. Unfortunately, sometimes
strong barriers may be placed by those who see two people s friendship as a threat; since people
are influenced by their friends, friendship could make people question what... Show more content on

Reuven and Danny are enrolled in the same college and are forced to break their friendship
because of the differences between their fathers. The slaughter of over six million jews during
the holocaust leads to the demand to form a Jewish state. David Malter wants a more secular
Jewish republic. Six million of our people have been slaughtered we can not wait for God.
(David Malter 277). But Reb Saunders wants a more religious republic focusing on the Torah. If
Reb Saunders even once heard of Danny being anywhere in my presence, he would remove him
immediately from the college and send him to an out of town yeshiva for his rabbinic
ordination. (Reuven Malter 331). When the United Nations officially declares the creation of
Israel as a Jewish State, Reb Saunders is relieved and allows Danny to revive his friendship with
Reuven. Reuven and Danny resume their friendship and the influence they have had on each
other makes Reuven choose to become a rabbi while Danny chooses to become a psychologist.
Friendship opens our minds to different views and perspectives and change our perceptions. It
has the power to change people s views on life in a positive way. True friends will do anything to
keep their friendship alive, no matter the barriers. Potok proves through the friendship of Danny
and Reuven that friendship can be achieved no matter the barriers. He proves that friendship is a
key value to life through his motif

Fair Value
Case analysis: Classification of instruments in fair value hierarchy
Instrumental 1
In the case, there was a significant decrease in the volume and activity for the instrument because
of (1) significant widening of the bid ask spreads in the markets and the widening continued
throughout Q4 2012 (2) a significant decrease in the volume of trades comparing with historical
level in Q4 (3) no recent transactions. According to 820 10 35 54 c, it was reasonable to determine
that market is not active. Because the adjustments were based on management s assumption, FFC
didn t used level 1 inputs in the income approach valuation technique (present value technique). In
addition, significant adjustment inputs includes credit adjustment (level 3 ... Show more content on

Then, FFC changed its valuation technique from market approach to income approach (discounted
cash flow model). Most relevant inputs in this model were level 3 inputs, because they were
estimations and assumptions that were not market based. In other words, such inputs were not
observable. So, FFC should classify the ARSs into level 3 of the fair value hierarchy in the fourth
quarter.
Instrument 4
There were no quoted prices available for X stock, so the measurement did not belong to level 1
of the Fair Value Hierarchy. In addition, because Most of X s competitors are either privately
held or subsidiaries of larger publicly traded clothing retailers and the shares of the two similar
two companies are thinly traded in an observable market, the market is inactive. FFC also needed
some significant assumptions to forecast its cash flows. These assumptions were level 3 inputs in
accordance with ASC 820 10 55 e. In the case, FFC should use the multiple techniques and weight
more market approach than income approach, because (1) general valuation principle is
maximizing the use of relevant observable inputs and minimizing the use of unobservable inputs
(2) sufficient data could be used to support both the approaches (3) market participants used
multiple techniques to invest similar stock. So, under ASC 820 10 35 37A, FFC should category
the investment into level 3 of the fair value hierarchy, in which the lowest level significant inputs
are.

Unraveling The Meaning Of `` Kill The Indian, Save The Man...
Unraveling the meaning of Kill the Indian, Save the Man
There are so many different definitions of the word racism, but how does each peron define it?
One individual, Richard Henry Pratt, clearly knew how to thoroughly define the word,
Segregating any class or race of people apart from the rest of the people kills the progress of the
segregated people or makes their growth very slow (Howard 2016). Unfortunately, we are still
living in the repercussion of Pratt s word. The United States history is full of examples that have led
to the ethnocentric development of the country. One of the most remote examples of this
ethnocentric belief is displayed with the construction of off reservation boarding schools for Native
Americans first started in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, by former general, Richard Henry Pratt. The
purpose of the schools was to strip Native Americans of their cultural traditions and teach them the
skills necessary to function in American Society. Pratt keyed this belief with the saying Kill the
Indian, save the man, in order to justify his reasons to assimilate the Indians to the white culture.
However, were the American Indians really forced to assimilate because society wanted to help
them, or because they wanted America to be solely made of true Americans with American culture?
How was the assimilation of the Indians satisfactory when it created cultural genocide? Having
assimilated the Indian man did not save him, it merely replaced him.

Do you think it is ethical to design and conceive a child that meets specific genetic requirements?
o If so, is PGD ethical in all cases? (prevent miscarriages, prevent inheritable genetic diseases, sex
selection for social reasons, etc). o If not, do you believe there should be specific exceptions
such as saving another person s life or is this just a slippery slope ? PGD is known as pre
implantation genetic diagnosing. I do not think it is ethical to design and conceive a child that
meets specific genetic requirements. I do not feel that this is an ethical reason to conceive a
child. Rather, I believe all children should be seen as blessings or gifts, not sacrificial genetic
progeny. However, in cases where PGD is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If rejecting an undesired embryo means preventing the genetic inheritance of a seriously
debilitating disease, then maybe some benefit can be achieved for the greater good of human
kind. However, I do not feel there is any benefit in screening embryos for desired traits, and
rejecting the undesired embryos for superficial or cosmetic reasons. For example, I would not
agree with a person screening embryos to create their epiphany of a beautiful baby. How does
the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate affect Anna s and Kate s perceptions of
themselves, and their relationship with each other? For instance, you might consider the
following: o Will Kate feel guilty knowing that Anna was created to save her life? o What if
Anna can t save Kate? Will Anna face lifelong psychological damage? Does Anna feel objectified
as a spare parts baby ? Does Kate feel objectified as a sick person? I do believe the knowledge
that Anna was conceived to save Kate affects both Anna s and Kate s perceptions of themselves.
This, however, does not affect their relationship with each other. In Kate s case, I feel the
knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate did make Kate feel guilty. She felt like she
was responsible for Anna s pain because as portrayed in the movie, Kate felt like she let her
parents hurt her sister. If Anna cannot save Kate, I do not think she will face lifelong psychological
damage because Anna did everything in her power

Concepts Of Authority In Mohawk Interruptus By Audra Simpson
Authority is important for any leader or government, because that is how decisions are accepted as
right. Sovereignty is the recognition by other states that one government has the authority to control
a certain territory. As well as the acceptance of rule by the people One major reading that contests
this idea of sovereigntyis the book Mohawk Interruptus by Audra Simpson, which discusses the
trials of Native American populations and their efforts to reclaim their own sovereignty. Within
Mohawk Interruptus, the people of the KahnawГЎ:ke tribe struggle against the colonial idea of
American or Canadian sovereignty lorded over them, and through refusal of such gifts regain their
sovereignty. ... Kahnawa kehrГі:non had refused the authority of the stateat almost every turn and in
so doing reinstated a different political authority (Simpson, 2014, 106). Through these rejections,
the people of KahnawГЎ:ke and Kahnawa kehrГі:non established that the current system of
sovereignty does not work for them, as it is colonially based to oppress the Native American
communities. Simpson uses these examples to make a larger point on the Western systems of
governance and understandings of authority. Though this idea of sovereignty, Simpson argues, was
a way to appropriate land and incorporate or destroy opposing cultures. Through the research of
Hannah Ardent, it is considered that sovereignty has been used to forcefully assimilate minority
populations of nations. Within her paper on the

The Test Narrative
I can t fail this test. I have to do well on this test. I have too.
My day had been off to a rough start. In the morning, I was late to the first period. I fell twice
during that period, and once during passing period. It was only second period, and I could not
stop thinking about how I had to take the ACT test tomorrow morning at 8. I was shaking and
sweating all day. I really wanted to do well on the ACTs. I was pretty sure I was qualified to take
the test. However, I was not prepared to take this test. Honestly, I shouldn t even take this test.
Everyone says I m not sharp enough to take this test. They say there are better options out there
than me. They re always saying how I m always too dull and don t really have a point here.

Back the 1800 s, the main goal for shipbuilding companies around Europe, was the crossing of the great Atlantic Ocean. These competitions would rowel up the people of Europe, giving them more reason to believe that mankind can perform anything. The Atlantic voyages, were the space race of the 1800 s, each company tried to make the biggest ship, and the fastest ship, to make it across the Atlantic in record time. However, even in this golden age of Atlantic travel, many problems slowly brewed across Europe. Even in the races, captains were blinded by their intent to finish first, the lives of the passengers lied at stake. In this time, many ships sunk... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the wreck of the Britannic, the rival company of white star line, Cunard line, create a marvel just as great as the Titanic. That was the Lusitania, this ship was a grand liner, with huge ballrooms and dining halls, for the wealthy first class. However, underneath all of this leisure and happiness, lied a dirty secret. Underneath the hull of the Lusitania, held hundreds of pounds of gunpowder and weapons for the fighting in World War Two. The ship was then dispatched off the coast of England, to deliver the cargo and passengers to the Norwegian front. However, off the coast of a picnic gathering on the coast of Ireland, a family spotted the beautiful ship gliding across the blue water, but something they saw would change the kids and their lives forever. In the distance, the family saw a large puff of thick black smoke rise from the bottom or the ship, the sound then echoed through the empty pasture of grass, they could do nothing, but watch the scene in horror. Meanwhile, on the ship, lifeboats were being launched only half full, and many did not make it in the water. Then suddenly a large fire spewed up from the bottom of the ship, and blasted six lifeboats, people were jumping in the water hoping to survive, then something far worse happened. • 3. Analysis Of Normal Life By Dean Spade Dean Spade and Critical Trans Politics Activist and professor Dean Spade, in his book Normal Life: Administrative Violence, Critical Trans Politics, and the Limits of Law, condemns current law policies surrounding discrimination and hate crimes against transgender and gender non conforming populations. Spade proposes a critical trans politics that is superior to the equal rights efforts of gay and lesbian activists up to this point in United States history. Instead of desiring to be included in a law enforcement system that oppresses the people it claims to protect, proponents of Spade s critical trans politics argue that the entire system, along with all related systems of policing and regulation, need to be either fundamentally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This drastically reduces the life chances of poor people, queer and trans people, immigrants, and people of color. In practice, every law system and mainstream law reform effort has attempted to assign people and groups of people into two categories: who is worthy of a chance at a good life, and who is not. Spade s proposal of a critical trans politics creates a system in which life chances are redistributed in a way that gives marginalized groups the opportunity to survive and succeed. Within the United States government en masse, there are many legal systems that contribute to the uneven distribution of life chances and thus require dismantling and radical reconstruction. These include the criminal justice system, the education system, the prison system (also called the prison industrial complex), the social welfare system, the immigration system, the housing system, the healthcare system, and the U.S. military. Each of these legal and political systems in some way targets a specific population within the United States, very often transgender and gender variant people, and directly reduces that population s life chances. This is the issue that Spade seeks to amend when he proposes the move toward a critical trans politics. Changing how large governmental structures function is neither an easy task nor a quick one; it will require the undoing and unlearning of a very tightly held political and economic system by all parties involved. Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show, Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday, December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking up. Imperialism, the practice of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or military force, is often thought of as negative because of the use of military force. While there are many natures of evil throughout the world, the reoccurrence of social injustice throughout previous generations have laid the foundation for many writers in the early twentieth century. Authors Flannery O Connor and Shirley Jackson grew up in the thick of racial diversity that America was enduring. The Lotteryand A Good Man is Hard to Findhelp exemplify the importance of moral and natural eviland its effects on the world by using traditional and untraditional forms of these immoral actions. In A Good Man is Hard to Find there are two main characters who fit the description of evil. Whether it is the pretentious grandmother or the unlawful Misfit, O Connor touches upon the violence and grotesque that she witnessed in her youth (O Connor). The grandmother is a woman who grew up during the times when racial diversity was more prevalent and clearly was brought up by a successful family. A little sympathy could be shown towards the grandmother since most of the narrative is through her eyes, but like The Misfit she has cruel intentions. The sophisticated lifestyle she lived isolated her from all the harshness in the world and led to her to believe that her way is always right. This is until The Misfit approaches her and his acquaintance takes the remaining family to the woods to be murdered. The Misfit has his own internal logic leading him to believe he is killing because that is what makes him happy, not because he is blood thirsty. In fact, he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aviation in the Middle East The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier backed by the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several European carriers serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high market share. The majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network. As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to charter the service they named Emirates. Divisional Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate Communications, Marketing Brand Boutros Boutros remarked, Locals or expats, management all had the same outlook and shared mentality, which ultimately helped build a successful and cohesive executive team. 6 Armed with only two planes and $10 million in seed capital provided by the Government of Dubai, the airline initially developed a regional focus to connect underserved markets. The Gold Rush was romantic, brief, and exciting, but it was much more than that. During the 19th century California seemed like a paradise for both men and women looking to escape the East coast in search of a new life and opportunity. Many men and women took the opportunity to escape from the west coast to start a new life at the booming industry in California. Many of these travelers were successful in their new adventure while others were not, however it was different for women from different ethnic backgrounds who suffered a inhumane fortune due to the imbalanced gender difference present in California. The culture found in California during the gold rush provides different perspective on the treatment of women and how the standards of sexuality were less important in the United States. To begin with, while the Native women and Chinese women were being mistreated, in contrary, the White women of higher class were often considered the most complimentary for marriage. These women were chosen by many men, they received numerous gifts and pleasant treatment. The first rehabilitation center was built in the following year, in the new capital of the country, BrasГlia, during the government of Juscelino Kubscheck. In 1992 was created the CTRS Network Technology Center Sarah, where all components have been developed, fittings, joining elements, furniture, in short, all the pieces that make up the constructive system of buildings. Then in 1993 it was built the first hospital in the industrial system, in SГЈo LuГs, MaranhГЈo. After this, were created eight hospitals under the same system. It is important to point out that the main elements of the system employed in this network of hospitals are prefabricated reinforced mortar and steel (for the base structure and to cover). The mortar was chosen because of the architect and his team s experience, which had already developed elements with this material for large scale and quality of finish, whereas the steel was chosen by the domain of the working team on the various processes involved (casting, lamination, mounting, welding etc.) and also by the lightness, ease of transportation, since some units were distant from the center of technology, and ease of handling, ... It remains to be both a local and global issue, occurring in nearly every country, and its networks are vast and formidable to investigate (Jesionka 2012). Despite government, activist groups and other organization s methods of intervention, human traffickingis still a major concern with more individuals enslaved now than ever before. Traffickers are able to coerce, deceive, threaten, and obtain complete control over their victims. Many of whom are poor, illegal immigrants in search of a job to help support and provide for their families. In their poverty and desperation, they willingly fall victim to the trade and end up abused, overworked, underpaid, and most often unable to return home. Throughout this class we have examined multiple different countries in which human trafficking still remains an unsolved issue. Such as, Afghanistan s opium brides, Bangladesh s factory workers, Thailand s child prostitutes, agricultural slaves in the United States, and baby trafficking in China. How do so many individuals end up trafficked? Why does this still remain such a large problem in the 21st century? Is it something that is forever ingrained in our society? Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of disorder, mentally, physically or emotionally. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a very organized way to help people, no matter the circumstance, without prejudices, or discrimination, and judgments. According to any of the labeling theories, describe two ways that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant. @According to labeling theory, the societal reaction refers to the responses of formal and informal agencies of social control towards deviances, no behavior is inherently deviant on its own, instead it is this reaction to the behavior that determines what is considered to be deviant. @One way that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant involves the concept of vigilantism, to some people they see vigilantes as heroes and thus they advocate to legalize their actions while to others they see vigilantes as deviant as they are no better than the crooks that they are trying to catch and thus they advocate to criminalize their actions @Another way that the reactions of others might affect a person being defined as a deviant involves the discussion of police killings to some people they see the police as heroes and thus they argue that sometimes dangerous situations call for extreme actions while to others they see police killings as horrid and reckless and thus they argue that they should focus more on subduing their suspects rather than shooting them so advocate to criminalize their actions. 2.What are two of the primary contributions of feminist criminology/feminist theory? @The first of the two of the general ... Therefore, and for the purposes of this paper, a UMS is defined as a set of policies and information technology resources aimed to improve utility related procedures and activities by facilitating coordination and communication within the agency and, in some cases, among stakeholders (e.g., public agencies, utility owners, contractors, and the community). The principal goal of UMSs is the reduction of time and cost by expediting processes, identifying potential utility conflicts in a timely manner, and optimizing decision making procedures. Dr Caligari Expressionism Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist films, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) remains one of the most influential films of both German cinema and the silent film era. The iconic visual style of Caligari embodies the element of revolt that is accepted to be the basis of Expressionism, which is defined as a total revolt against the existing order both in terms of style and idea, society and the individual, art and ethics (Barlow 18). Caligari makes use of the mise en scГЁne in order to overcome the restrictions of black and white film. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caligari set the standard of the movement in film, fulfilling a number of expectations theorists had for this transition of mediums; the set represents an emotional landscape, a projection of the intense feelings of the main character, exaggerated acting with an extreme degree of emotional intensity serves as a silent visual replacement of the outcry and exclamation of expressionistic poetry and theater, and, to replace the vibrant colors of Expressionist art, there are considerable contrasts between light and shadow (Barlow 25). All of these visual aspects made Caligari the most noteworthy of German Expressionist films, and was more than likely the inspiration for the film noir style that emerged several decades later. The limitations of sound and color do not detract from Caligari s ability to visually express common themes of Weimar Germany, most prominently those of authority, insanity, and duality. Such themes are expressed so prominently that it has led many to interpret the film as a close examination of society in the Weimar Republic and the implications the film had for Germany s future. Intellectual Property ( Ip ) Essay Intellectual Property (IP) can be broadly described as using human intellect to create something new or original, and it is collectively comprised of four categories: Trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Intellectual property is a valuable asset that must be protected and strategically managed. To fully foster innovation, intellectual propertyprotection is crucial. If protection is lacking, than businesses and individual would not fully benefit from their inventions and could possibly refrain from research and development. Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one. Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus coming out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of Goddescending like a dove and a voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinityinterpreted in the Bible is Genesis 1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God is having a discussion with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many references throughout the New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The Godhead is three in one, therefore each one has a different role, yet the same person. • 43. Fair Value Case analysis: Classification of instruments in fair value hierarchy Instrumental 1 In the case, there was a significant decrease in the volume and activity for the instrument because of (1) significant widening of the bid ask spreads in the markets and the widening continued throughout Q4 2012 (2) a significant decrease in the volume of trades comparing with historical level in Q4 (3) no recent transactions. According to 820 10 35 54 c, it was reasonable to determine that market is not active. Because the adjustments were based on management s assumption, FFC didn t used level 1 inputs in the income approach valuation technique (present value technique). In addition, significant adjustment inputs includes credit adjustment (level 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, FFC changed its valuation technique from market approach to income approach (discounted cash flow model). Most relevant inputs in this model were level 3 inputs, because they were estimations and assumptions that were not market based. In other words, such inputs were not observable. So, FFC should classify the ARSs into level 3 of the fair value hierarchy in the fourth quarter. Instrument 4 There were no quoted prices available for X stock, so the measurement did not belong to level 1 of the Fair Value Hierarchy. In addition, because Most of X s competitors are either privately held or subsidiaries of larger publicly traded clothing retailers and the shares of the two similar two companies are thinly traded in an observable market, the market is inactive. FFC also needed some significant assumptions to forecast its cash flows. These assumptions were level 3 inputs in accordance with ASC 820 10 55 e. In the case, FFC should use the multiple techniques and weight more market approach than income approach, because (1) general valuation principle is maximizing the use of relevant observable inputs and minimizing the use of unobservable inputs (2) sufficient data could be used to support both the approaches (3) market participants used multiple techniques to invest similar stock. So, under ASC 820 10 35 37A, FFC should category the investment into level 3 of the fair value hierarchy, in which the lowest level significant inputs are. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Unraveling The Meaning Of `` Kill The Indian, Save The Man... Unraveling the meaning of Kill the Indian, Save the Man There are so many different definitions of the word racism, but how does each peron define it? One individual, Richard Henry Pratt, clearly knew how to thoroughly define the word, Segregating any class or race of people apart from the rest of the people kills the progress of the segregated people or makes their growth very slow (Howard 2016). Unfortunately, we are still living in the repercussion of Pratt s word. The United States history is full of examples that have led to the ethnocentric development of the country. One of the most remote examples of this ethnocentric belief is displayed with the construction of off reservation boarding schools for Native Americans first started in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, by former general, Richard Henry Pratt. The purpose of the schools was to strip Native Americans of their cultural traditions and teach them the skills necessary to function in American Society. Pratt keyed this belief with the saying Kill the Indian, save the man, in order to justify his reasons to assimilate the Indians to the white culture. However, were the American Indians really forced to assimilate because society wanted to help them, or because they wanted America to be solely made of true Americans with American culture? How was the assimilation of the Indians satisfactory when it created cultural genocide? Having assimilated the Indian man did not save him, it merely replaced him. There is a ... • 45. My Sister s Keeper Essay Do you think it is ethical to design and conceive a child that meets specific genetic requirements? o If so, is PGD ethical in all cases? (prevent miscarriages, prevent inheritable genetic diseases, sex selection for social reasons, etc). o If not, do you believe there should be specific exceptions such as saving another person s life or is this just a slippery slope ? PGD is known as pre implantation genetic diagnosing. I do not think it is ethical to design and conceive a child that meets specific genetic requirements. I do not feel that this is an ethical reason to conceive a child. Rather, I believe all children should be seen as blessings or gifts, not sacrificial genetic progeny. However, in cases where PGD is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If rejecting an undesired embryo means preventing the genetic inheritance of a seriously debilitating disease, then maybe some benefit can be achieved for the greater good of human kind. However, I do not feel there is any benefit in screening embryos for desired traits, and rejecting the undesired embryos for superficial or cosmetic reasons. For example, I would not agree with a person screening embryos to create their epiphany of a beautiful baby. How does the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate affect Anna s and Kate s perceptions of themselves, and their relationship with each other? For instance, you might consider the following: o Will Kate feel guilty knowing that Anna was created to save her life? o What if Anna can t save Kate? Will Anna face lifelong psychological damage? Does Anna feel objectified as a spare parts baby ? Does Kate feel objectified as a sick person? I do believe the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate affects both Anna s and Kate s perceptions of themselves. This, however, does not affect their relationship with each other. In Kate s case, I feel the knowledge that Anna was conceived to save Kate did make Kate feel guilty. She felt like she was responsible for Anna s pain because as portrayed in the movie, Kate felt like she let her parents hurt her sister. If Anna cannot save Kate, I do not think she will face lifelong psychological damage because Anna did everything in her power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Concepts Of Authority In Mohawk Interruptus By Audra Simpson Authority is important for any leader or government, because that is how decisions are accepted as right. Sovereignty is the recognition by other states that one government has the authority to control a certain territory. As well as the acceptance of rule by the people One major reading that contests this idea of sovereigntyis the book Mohawk Interruptus by Audra Simpson, which discusses the trials of Native American populations and their efforts to reclaim their own sovereignty. Within Mohawk Interruptus, the people of the KahnawГЎ:ke tribe struggle against the colonial idea of American or Canadian sovereignty lorded over them, and through refusal of such gifts regain their sovereignty. ... Kahnawa kehrГі:non had refused the authority of the stateat almost every turn and in so doing reinstated a different political authority (Simpson, 2014, 106). Through these rejections, the people of KahnawГЎ:ke and Kahnawa kehrГі:non established that the current system of sovereignty does not work for them, as it is colonially based to oppress the Native American communities. Simpson uses these examples to make a larger point on the Western systems of governance and understandings of authority. Though this idea of sovereignty, Simpson argues, was a way to appropriate land and incorporate or destroy opposing cultures. Through the research of Hannah Ardent, it is considered that sovereignty has been used to forcefully assimilate minority populations of nations. Within her paper on the ...
