The Benefits Of Peaceful Protests
With the recent election and the noticeable division in our country today, it is worth noting the benefits
of a peaceful protest compared the most violent of protests. Does even the strongest person have any
control over a government if they cannot exhibit their self control? Is a government going to listen to a
bunch of violent citizens or a group of young people standing against a law with signs? Throughout
history it is shown that positive resistance to laws positively impacts a free society by promoting a
peaceful community of citizens and increases the chance of a government listening to its people and
their concerns. Through the use of peaceful protests, a country can unite under one belief in a positive
way, inspiring each other to continue fighting for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the increased violence, more laws and restrictions will be set in place to take charge of the
people. If a government is too focused on enforcing laws to stop violence, then the free society that
the people are living in soon turns to be more controlling. Keeping a free society relies on the
government focusing on the needs of the people not the needs of the government; if violence were to
be the people s solution, government would not be able to focus on the needs of the people, but the
need to fix the destruction being caused. Martin Luther King Jr. states that creative tension needs to be
implemented in order for a community that has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront
the issue. The ideas of Martin Luther King Jr. and his peaceful resistance is the creative part of it all.
Turn resistance into something positive, and the government will have to respond with care and
diligence to mimic its people. Having the government confront the problem with a concerned yet calm
attitude will ultimately leave the people with as much, or more freedom than they originally

Witches Wear 60s Clothing
The reason that I chose the witches to wear 60s attire is because I am fond of the style and era of the
60s. I designed the outfits that I thought would fit the theme of Macbeth and the witches. I chose to
stick to the colors of red and black because they are common colors that are used in 60s costumes.
One of theses costumes was inspired from the movie, Grease, in the last scene during the song, You re
the One that I Want. I based this costume on the outfit that Sandy , or Olivia Newton John, is wearing.
The Polka dot dress was inspired by a dance costume that I have worn. I wanted to incorporate the
black and white theme with the fun patterns of the 60s as well as a halter top to add personality.
The last costume was inspired by

History Of The Cherokee Indians
`The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully blended
into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the American way,
translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for the Cherokee nation
seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land. Gold was discovered in
Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they would have more gold. The
Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester v. Georgia (1832), which
followed a similar case from the ear before, Cherokee, Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled that the
Cherokee nation was a sovereign nation and that the state of Georgia

Duality In The Scarlet Letter
Paradoxical Neutrality in Humanity Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter introduces adultery
between Hester and Dimmesdale to oppose Puritanism, which believes in absolute goodness or
wickedness. These two sinners mutual crime and yearning for redemption indicate the dualism in
humanity. The conflicted irony between their inner selves and outward characters heightens the
tension in the novel, which dissolves with the unity of private and public selves. Hawthorne s use of
contrast in The Scarlet Letter reveals duality in Hester and Dimmesdale s identities to criticize
Puritanism s inflexible judgment of people and to promote tolerance within humanity, which resolves
with the acceptance of one s unchanging identity at the end.
Hawthorne evokes the ironic darkness behind Dimmesdale s pure, public mask to indicate sin s
existence in all humans, including the elects. Dimmesdale fails to overcome his past honourable
public image and to reveal the truth about his sin because the townspeople ... Show more content on

The letter A symbolizes the drastic transformation of the Puritan s community s opinion about Hester.
As the meaning changes from scorn and bitterness to awe and reverence , the original isolating symbol
becomes symbol for people to accept. The ending represents Hawthorne s vision of the Puritan s
evolving tolerance towards humanity. At least through Dimmesdale and Hester s journey in this novel,
their two polar positivity and negativity eventually blends into a paradoxical shade of grey, which
constructs one s authentic identity and leads them to

Corruption Of Power In The Hunger Games
One theme that is present in almost all dystopian fiction is corrupted power. Often time, authors merge
away from utopia and use a dysfunctional society that only benefit those in charge, to work around
how corrupted power is established and held using social enforcement. Divergent and The Hunger
Games are both modern futuristic novels about revolution written by 21st century authors, Veronica
Roth and Suzanne Collins, which explore how corrupted power is achieved and upheld by: 1. The
separation of the populations into hierarchies, and 2. Distractions from the reality of their lives, and
withholding information through totalitarian governments. Although the two universes share the
common trait of gaining and keeping power through violence, ... Show more content on

The Games put physical and psychological suffrage upon the men, women, and children. The parents
are overwhelmed by the fact that they send their children out to die so they can bring some money
back for survival, which takes a great toll on their conscious and creates feelings of guilt which makes
them unlikely to rebel as they are having internal conflicts. The Games also make people prone and
desensitized to violence; this allows there to be peacekeepers and makes the games enjoyable!
Moreover, the Hunger Games are widely attended as a pleasurable entertainment, as Gale points out to
Katniss: Since that year half of them died of cold. Not much entertainment in that. It s true. We spent
one Hunger Games watching the players freeze to death at night. You could hardly see them because
they were just huddled in balls and had no wood for fires or torches or anything. It was considered
very anti climactic in the Capitol, all those quiet bloodless deaths (Collins 39). The emphasis is on the
entertainment of the watchers instead of the suffrage the tributes go through. The people of every
district and the Capitol spend a lot of time watching the opponents while making bets, sending help or
just praying for their safety therefore the general public is so focused on the

Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC). The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and The Age
Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that govern age discrimination.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older workers were finding
themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases companies were setting age limits
regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
provides information concerning the needs and abilities of older workers. These studies found that
long term unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill. The EEOC
sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational programs. The ADEA
prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom work with businesses and workers alike to
solve problems that arise (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967).
There are strict prohibitions of age discrimination.
An employer cannot refuse to hire or discharge an employee due to age. Employers cannot deprive
any individual of employment because of their age. It is unlawful to reduce the wage rate because of
age. Employment agencies cannot withhold

What Characters Do We Meet in The First Four Chapters of Jane Eyre And What Are They Like?
First, we meet Jane, she is a smart, quick witted girl who seems to be on a journey of becoming a
strong willed young woman. She lives with her aunt and cousins who spend their time oppressing
Jane. Aunt Reed seems to see Jane more as a nuisance that has been laid on her by her late husband.
John Reed seems to be one of the main oppressors along with his mother, he both physically harms
Jane and verbally abuses her. Georgiana and Eliza seem in the background of these first chapters, they
do not seem to like Jane either. While Jane is being abused by their brother they do not take Jane s
side but instead John Reed s.
Bessie seems to be the only kind one to Jane singing her songs and stories and showing her love.
Bessie is the maid at Gateshead along with Abbott who is not very kind to Jane. Mr. Lloyd is Janes
doctor after she faints from being in the red room, he is kind and listens to Jane and suggest that she
goes to school. finally, we meet Mr. Brocklehurst who is the head master at Lowood who seems to be
a cruel man who suggests that Jane is a bad child with barely even eyeing her.
What Are the Living Conditions Like at Lowood?
Lowood is very close to not survivable, when the food is edible, which isn t often it is lacking in

Production Credits And Financing Incentives
Investments by large chemical companies are focused on biobased facilities, but production credits
and financing incentives are needed to create U.S. based facilities. After a somewhat rocky start
following the expiration of funding from the 2008 Farm Bill, the biobased products programs had a
good level of support in the 2014 Farm Bill. The administrative regulatory rules are well developed,
particularly for the Biorefinery Assistance program. Previously, this rule was strictly for advanced
biofuels, whereas the current iteration expanded the sector to include biobased products and renewable
chemicals. This has led to the development of a framework for assessing the biobased economy.
However, this framework also requires that we make the public and private sectors be made aware of
the fact that biobased products are not in stand alone facilities; rather, they are part of a large supply
chain that begins with biorefineries. In the past, if a biorefinery produced anything other than biofuels,
it did not qualify for Farm Bill benefits, but this has changed. The Biomass Crop Assistance Program
(BCAP) is an extremely important part of the Farm Bill. For members of the farming community to
grow cellulosic, non food crops, they need assurance that they can make money by doing so. Some
biomass crops require a planting lead time of 1 to 5 years, and this program now provides an assured
market with mandatory funding. The BCAP is also an emerging program. Cellulosic

A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer
A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer? Often referred to as the architect of the modern short
story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his elderly
roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe s style,
with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story written
with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a first person
point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his plan of this
murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt, and murder,
but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability, paranoia, and ironic
dissemblance.
In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack of
certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw details of
the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it leads to
some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details of his crime
to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for his confession
at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The Tell Tale Heart, is
whether the main character actually

Sephora Essay
Sephora is a retail chain of cosmetics and perfume stores founded in 1969 by Dominique
Mandonnaud. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was
revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell setting
where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organization of the
products in the store was by type, not by brand as in every other store.
In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and merged
them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were then
rebranded to what is known today as Sephora.
Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as Monaco
and Luxembourg, after Sephora was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997, it
started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the world, Sephora maintains
similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic decision is made by the higher
management at the headquarters.
Its first international store was in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand in the
European market starting with Italy. However, not every country was hospitable to Sephora s
expansion such as the United Kingdom, Spain and Japan, where the company struggled.
Nowadays, the Sephora brand is available in 31 countries in 2,000 points of sale and features

Car Vs SUV Essay
Technology has brought many luxuries to people. The invention of the automobile has brought
convenience to everyday living. People use their vehicles to commute to work, school, home, and
other events. Some people cannot even imagine living life without the use of an automobile. People
have different tastes in the type of automobile that they drive; the automotive industry has made
several different ways to commute. The car and the sports utility vehicle seem to be the most common
types. The sports utility vehicle is inferior to the car.

In addition, the stopping distance is longer considering the weight factor of the vehicle. Both these
issues make this automobile very dangerous to the driver, passengers, other motorist, pedestrians, and
small furry animals. On the other hand, the lower center of gravity that the car has to offer makes this
vehicle less likely to roll over. There is also a shorter stopping distance for the car considering the
weight of the car is much lighter.
Sports utility vehicles take up more room compared to the car. There have been several infamous
people with sports utility vehicles who park in the compact parking spaces specifically designed for
compact cars. Other notorious sport utility drivers have been spotted taking up two parking spaces.
These enormous machines make it difficult for other conventional people to get in and out of their
automobiles. Conversely, cars take up less space to park. This allows more people to park in the area.
Sports utility vehicles block the vision of the cars behind them. This does not allow drivers in the cars
to be able to look ahead of the road. This can be very dangerous. For example, an owner of a sports
utility vehicle is driving on the high way. When all of a sudden, an endangered chimpanzee pops out
on to the road. The sports utility vehicle swerves out the way avoiding it. Nevertheless, the driver of
the car was not able to see ahead of

What Role Did The Art Of Sculpture Play In Romanesque Church
The name Hagia Sophia actually means Holy Wisdom . Hagia Sophia was built in Istanbul which was
formerly known as Constantinople. Hagia Sophia was built over 1400 years ago in 537 BC by
Emperor Justinian I. Hagia Sophia was built to replace the old church that was torched and burned
down. Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Church. The church incorporates Christian beliefs with
murals of Jesus Christs but also hanging from the ceiling are Islamic writings. The way the structural
lighting of church was designed, it creates a halo type effect giving a heavenly feel. The sunlight
reflects off of glass and gold which lightens the famous Hagia Sophia dome. Hagia Sophia remained a
church until 1453 when the Turks converted the church into a mosque. 2. What role did the art of

In the sense that Romanesque churches lacked light, the gothic style churches required much more
lighting where it would feel as if the lighting was coming from the heavens above. In addition to, the
gothic style incorporated less heavy walls but instead, the use of lighter fly buttresses used to support
church or cathedral walls. The flying buttresses were of double use. They provided structural support
but incorporated another form art found amongst a lot of gothic style cathedrals. Gothic style also
replaced the hefty walls of the Romanesque art by using columns that were much thinner. Gothic style
also introduced the Rose Windows as seen on many gothic cathedrals. Rose windows were just stain
classes that form massive, colorful windows seen in the front of many gothic cathedrals and churches.
The gothic style often had many more naturalistic sculptures in comparison to the Romanesque art
style. The sculptures decorated the walls of cathedrals in massive numbers. The idea of the gothic

The Disguise And Trickery Dionysus In Euripides
This play written by Euripides has several little main ideas throughout but one of the main ones that I
am going to focus on is the disguise and trickery Dionysus is able to perform to get what he wants.
Throughout the play Dionysus never got the respect that he felt that he deserved from the other gods.
The reason that Dionysus received no respect is because he is mortal; his mother who was a mortal
gave birth to him by a god, so in the world they are living in this makes him equal to the humans not
the gods. Because Dionysus was both Greek and Asiatic, along with being part god and part human
this made him a very diverse being. Dionysus soon realized though that he could use this to his own
advantage, he could easily be disguised as a

Serving in Florida Barbara Ehrenreich is a best selling author, who wrote the descriptive narrative
essay titled, Serving in Florida . In this writing, Ehrenreich tells the readers about her experiment into
seeing if it was truly possible to live off of minimum wage, in a low wage community located in
Florida. Ehrenreich initially published this writing in her novel called Nickled and Dimed, but since

How Does Randall Jarrell Use the Imagery in Durer’s...
How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the devil and death to
symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic devices?
The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the engraving by German
artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback treading along the path of life. A path beset
on all sides by many obstacles, and the dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. Created in
1513, Durer s engraving s key characters include a Knight in armour, riding along a narrow road with
the grinning devil at one end and on the other, a figure of death in the form of deceased knight. Jarrell

Companioned so, the Knight moves through this world
Thus protected he is able to
He listens in assurance, has no glance
To spare for them, but look s past steadily
The fourth and final stanza portrays externalizations of our feelings for Death and the Devil thus
making them allegorical figures.
Death of his own flesh, set up outside him
The flesh of his own soul, set up outside him
Jarrell uses repetition as a device in the final stanza to emphasize the importance and allegory of these
figures towards the Knight.
His being accuses him yet his face is firm
The alliteration of face and firm exaggerates the strength of the Knight, to reinforce the meaning of his
power in the reader s mind.
In resolution, in absolute persistence
The folds of smiling do for steadiness
The face is its own fate a man does what he must
And the body underneath it says I am.
Randall Jarrell includes another allegory to explain how the Knight kept a steady state of mind to
strengthen the body to not display his real feelings in his soul. His look completed him, and
determining his own fate by forcing a straight face.
Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. Jarrell is using imagery in a similar way to
reinforce and decorate the poem in a profound way by contrasting the robust and valiant figure of the
Knight onto everything that we come

Tobago Essay
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has decided to construct a new school at the beginning of the
year 2016. This is due as the island is ranked sixty fourth (64th) in the Global Education Index (United
Nations Development Programme 2013) and there is a drive to increase the island s global ranked by
the Education Ministry of Trinidad and Tobago. As a result, they have authorized a formal report to
determine potential sites that the school can be built on in which official bodies will investigate
further. To accomplish this goal, applications of Geographic Information Systems were utilized to
assess land suitability in Trinidad with several criteria provided by the Government along with
relevant data sources. Several areas throughout the western coast of Trinidad with potential/ideal sites
were discovered.
Introduction
According to the World Bank, the twin island s population is 1.354 million in 2014 and is increasing
by 0.3% per year. As a result of slow population increase there are several issues which would arise
such as food security and environmental degradation. The Education sector of a country is important
and plays a vital role in the development the general population. Investing in the island s education
system is essential for reducing inequality and poverty. Thus, the government of Trinidad and Tobago

Madyson to go to his apartment which was in the same complex as Madyson. In the Apartment,
Adrian raped Madyson then killed her and hid the corpse in the recycling bin of the complex. So who

Everyone should be responsible for their own actions, right? Since the dawn of time, Civilizations
have held everybody culpable for their own actions. Also, Major religions have made it part of their
law that everyone is accountable for their own actions. From my experiences of different religions, I

because they share the same root (Abraham pbuh). For Example, It is a belief shared among all

Management Planning – Boeing Corporation
Management Planning Boeing Corporation
Management: Theory, Practice and Application/MGT330
Management Planning Boeing Corporation
Management planning is the first basic process in a series of four fundamental management functions.
The planning function is a vital for any company because it is a process of formulating goals, provides
focus to achieve those goals, and gives direction in the attainment of the goals. Boeing is a large,
global corporation and many internal and external factors effect its business. Boeing must adhere to
certain regulations, such as those instituted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The
organization designs, builds, and supports commercial and military aircraft in the United States and ...

The last step of the planning process is controlling and monitoring and is ongoing. All levels of
managers are involved in this process using controls that measure the performance and progress of the
plan. This step also allows adjustments to the plan because changes sometimes occur or the plan was
executed improperly. The strategic, tactical, and operational planning must be aligned in order for a
plan to succeed.
Legal Issues, Ethics, and Corporate Responsibility
Many internal and external factors influence planning management. Legal issues can destroy a
businesses reputation and affect its profitability. In the 1998, Boeing settled a gender discrimination
case and agreed to pay $75 million dollars to the accusers. Women employees accused Boeing of
paying them significantly less wages than employees who were men. According to BLR.com (2010),
Boeing admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to change its hiring, pay, promotion, and complaint
investigation procedures (HR and Employment Law News, para. 2). As a result of the lawsuit, Boeing
used the planning function in the human resources management. Other issues influence Boeing s
planning function.
Boeing and its managers are not innocent from unethical behavior. A CEO of Boeing was fired in
March 2005 for participating in an extramarital affair (Holmes, 2005). This was a violation of Boeing
s ethics code that the CEO expected

Video Game Effects On Children
Video Game Effects on Children
The effects of video games on children has been widely debated on multiple occasions. Most homes
contain at least one video game system. There are plenty of companies involved in the rapidly
growing gaming industry. These companies ensure a wide variety of types and genres of video games
exist in the world today, and most people, including adults, will have very little difficulty identifying
precisely which game is their favourite. The fact of the matter is, nearly every child has easy access to
video games; playing these games has to have some impact on the children. Not all of the effects from
playing video games are definitively positive or negative. Children happen to be the intended audience
for many video games. Companies create these games to be kid friendly, and kids are able to learn
from the content of the games. There is much that can be learned from and skills that can be improved
by playing video games. There are many positive outcomes of playing video games; children should
be allowed the opportunity to learn both skills and knowledge from video games.
Children exposed to video games may socialize differently than those without access to games. Firstly,
many communicational skills can be developed from playing video games. We heard boys describe
facile ways of dividing up leadership and recognizing one another s expertise in the most collaborative
and generative of ways which also happens to be the key to a

Second Hand Smoke Speech
Second hand Smoke He has his father s eyes and his mother s lungs. this is the message run by a
recent anti smoking campaign. To accompany the words, there is an image of a boy who can t be more
than ten years old. What s the message here? This child is being affected by his mother s poor choices
by her second hand smoke. By this age, most of us are very aware of the dangers of smoke, be it
second hand or not. Maybe we have family members or friends who are intimate with the addiction
and can see the symptoms all too well. We have all walked by someone who has just smoked, or is
smoking. If you ve inhaled the smoke, you likely have experienced coughing, dizziness and possibly
irritation of the eyes and nose.
By now, most of us should also be conscious of the dangers spiritual second hand smoke poses. We
may be made in our father s image, but what do our metaphorical lungs our spirits, look like? Do we
continue to breathe in the second hand smoke that surrounds us? Even more thought provoking, are
we the ones smoking? Do others have to deal with our smoke? ... Show more content on

Linda Loman Strengths And Weaknesses
Kenna K.

Honors Lang./Lit. 5
February 1, 2016
Linda Loman: The Embodiment of Strength Behind every great man, there is a great woman. What
about men who are not great and never will be; what about men who are unsuccessful in every aspect
of their lives? What about men like Willy Loman, who can work for all their lives but will still never
accomplish their dreams? What type of woman is behind a man whose life has consisted of only
failure after failure? The answer to that question is simple: a great one. Arthur Miller s Death of a
Salesman, portrays the character of Linda Loman, the wife Willy Loman, a salesman with all the
wrong dreams. At first glance, she is often perceived to be over submissive, weak willed, and passive,

Yet, she continues to be the glue holding the Loman household together. Her roles as a mother and a
wife are of extreme value to her, and she fulfills both without hesitance. Unlike Willy, Linda attempts
to instill good morals, values, and a work ethic in Biff. During one of Willy s flashbacks, when
Bernard is encouraging Biff to study for math, Linda agrees with him, and even brings up more
problematic actions that Biff has made a habit of: stealing, being rough with girls, and driving without
a license all things that Willy has previously turned a blind eye to. [Bernard]: If he doesn t buckle
down, he ll flunk math! [He goes off]. [Linda]: He s right, Willy, you ve gotta [Willy]: [exploding at
her]: There s nothing the matter with him! You want him to be a worm like Bernard? He s got spirit,
personality... (Miller 27). Linda wants to make an effort toward getting Biff to quit his lousy habits, in
contrast to Willy who either refuses to acknowledge or encourages his son s actions. She wants to be a
good parent to her eldest

Halsey V. Milton Keynes General NHS Trust
The significance of this Article refers to the court ordering or referring individuals to use ADR
methods instead of litigation to resolve disputes. Article 6(1) makes it clear that the court can not
compel any individual to use ADR to resolve disputes as everyone has the right to a fair and public
hearing. The court can only encourage individuals to use ADR methods to resolve disputes and if the
parties to agree to use an ADR process, they can not be complete to reach a settlement in that process.
This can be seen in the case of Halsey v Milton Keynes General NHS Trust where Dyson LJ stated
that compelling parties to use ADR would not be accepted as it would violate the rights set out in
Article 6 of the ECHR. Using alternative methods to resolve disputes can be argued to be the better
option in resolving most civil issues but no party can be constrained to settle with whichever method
being used. Furthermore, if parties do agree to mediate or use any ADR processes, the option to
continue with the process is entirely voluntary, and if a party does decide to discontinue, this
discontinuation however, can not be challenged in the court due to confidentially rules. ... Show more

Mexico s Social Class System
There are a plethora of factors that shape a social class system within a specific community. The
bigger the area, like the country of Mexico for example, there are more factors that come into play
when looking at the structure of the social institutions. The main factor I focused my research on was
development in Mexico. Was there a correlation between the development of the country s economy
and social inequalities in Mexico? To understand the links between the economy and the social sector
of Mexico, one has to look at the history of development. It is necessary to analyze how the
underdeveloped economies were linked historically to the world market and how international social
groups defined the relations implicit to underdevelopment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grasp of colonial as widespread as it was held a firm grip on Mexico. Mexico was one of the
many jewels in the crown of Spain. It was founded by the Conqueror to serve the conqueror (Frank 5).
Mexico was a large exporter of silver for the mother country. It was a heavy contributor for Spain s
demand for luxury items as aforementioned in the previous paragraphs. Mexico s people faced the
same oppression and exploitation that most of the third world faced. Right after the end of colonialism
the Mexican economy stagnated and even declined (Cardoso, Faletto 39). Silver production was half
that of the colonial period. This led to the search of loans (40). However, none of the money borrowed
covered the full amount of the expenditures. Great Britain and the U.S. lent money to Mexico. The
lender countries competed for control of the economy in Mexico. This split Mexico between the
liberals (U.S.) and conservatives (Britain). The implications of the split on the social institutes are

Tensions Of The Antebellum Period Essay
Ethan Bagdasarian Professor Gregor History 111 November 8, 2017 The Tensions of the Antebellum
Period America has fought in numerous wars, two world wars even, but the deadliest one was the war
against itself. America s first and only civil war was a brutal campaign of Americans versus
Americans, brothers versus brothers, and resulted in over 600,000 deaths (White). Looking past at
America s history this war was seemingly inevitable. Some say the start of the civil war was when
Confederate troops attacked Union soldiers at Fort Sumter. While this officially started the war, what
is more important are the events causing the tension that lead up to this breaking point. One reason for
the civil war was because the North and the South had strikingly different cultures, cultures that
clashed against each other. The North was a more liberal, abolitionist, industrial culture while the
south was a conservative agrarian based area. The second reason for the outbreak of civil war was due
to the increasing political tension within the union. Southern states who feared the removal of slavery
threatened to secede if the republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln. was elected. Although there were
many events that contributed to the civil war, the differing cultures of the North and South, and the
political tension between the North and the South, were the two main events that caused the deadliest
conflict in American history. The North industrialized much quicker than the less

A Report On The Technical Letter
The technical letter was sent to EU to inquire whether 37% efficiency is in line with the EU standards.
The answer was that 37% efficiency completely satisfies the EU requirements. Mr. Baker thinks that
37% efficiency is economically feasible. It never was just about building the power plant. They looked
at all the renewable options, possibility of Zhur, etc. During their analyses, they took the triple price of
carbon from the 2012 study, to make sure it is still economically viable.
Regarding their opinion on Vice president of ECA Ms. Laura Tuck and ECA Managing Director Ms.
Ellen Goldstein, Mr. Baker said that their position is very clear and straightforward, if they see any
problems with this project, they will not proceed with it, and they have no career advancement issues
to satisfy. Ellen Goldstein has cancelled a $1.3 billion project in Bangladesh over the corruption issue.
Mr. Peters mentioned that Contour Global will only manage this project and it doesn t have the
expertise to build it. For the EPC contract, they have to have a competitive bidder.
Contour Global as an investor will provide the equity and the rest will come from the debt financing.
On 25% IRR: At this point, they don t have a strong opinion, but Bank will give it a serious look. If
this looks like a very unbalanced deal, they will not finance it. This is a problem of Kosovo
government to agree to put such a high tariff on people. This is the other side of the request for higher

Gothic Cinema And The Movie The Conjuring
In life, some people prefer to watch movies, and some people prefer to read books. Then there are
some who love both movies and books. However, when one genre is portrayed in cinema and in
literature, it is easy to compare the two. Are they complementary or are they in opposition to each
other? In terms of gothic cinema and literature, they are both complementary to one another. In the
two movies, The Conjuring and The Skeleton Key, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand with the
style of textual gothic and they both show to have a strong aesthetic force. In the pieces of gothic
literature, The Falls, The Book of Blood, and Amityville Horror, they are all very strong gothic pieces
which all have a strong aesthetic force. In the movie, The Conjuring, gothic cinema proves to go hand
in hand with the style of textual gothic and it has a strong aesthetic force. In this movie, it portrays
many aspects of traditional gothic literature. For example, the element of the supernatural is the main
part of this movie. By making the center of this movie about supernatural occurrences, it goes hand in
hand with textual gothic. In textual gothic, there is almost always some type of supernatural element,
even if it is as small as in The Castle of Otranto. However, instead of having a small supernatural
element, The Conjuring provides the audience with extremely terrifying and real supernatural
components. For example, one terrifying moment in this movie is when the daughter, Nancy,

Reflective Essay For College
I believe that one of my greatest strengths is my diversity of backgrounds. In college, my contrasting
majors of Political Science and Theatre gave me the opportunity to explore topics both analytical and
creative in nature. I was heavily involved in our university s Theatre program, yet at the same time
was able to pursue internships with a political campaign and with the House of Representatives, as
well as remain active in the school s Music and Digital Media Arts departments. I graduated cum
laude and would go on to participate in both the political and Theatre communities of the Twin Cities
on both an amateur and professional level. This background gives me a perspective that is relatively
unique, compared to those who may have studied specifically in Business or Human Resources
programs for their secondary education.

  • 2. The Benefits Of Peaceful Protests With the recent election and the noticeable division in our country today, it is worth noting the benefits of a peaceful protest compared the most violent of protests. Does even the strongest person have any control over a government if they cannot exhibit their self control? Is a government going to listen to a bunch of violent citizens or a group of young people standing against a law with signs? Throughout history it is shown that positive resistance to laws positively impacts a free society by promoting a peaceful community of citizens and increases the chance of a government listening to its people and their concerns. Through the use of peaceful protests, a country can unite under one belief in a positive way, inspiring each other to continue fighting for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the increased violence, more laws and restrictions will be set in place to take charge of the people. If a government is too focused on enforcing laws to stop violence, then the free society that the people are living in soon turns to be more controlling. Keeping a free society relies on the government focusing on the needs of the people not the needs of the government; if violence were to be the people s solution, government would not be able to focus on the needs of the people, but the need to fix the destruction being caused. Martin Luther King Jr. states that creative tension needs to be implemented in order for a community that has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. The ideas of Martin Luther King Jr. and his peaceful resistance is the creative part of it all. Turn resistance into something positive, and the government will have to respond with care and diligence to mimic its people. Having the government confront the problem with a concerned yet calm attitude will ultimately leave the people with as much, or more freedom than they originally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Witches Wear 60s Clothing The reason that I chose the witches to wear 60s attire is because I am fond of the style and era of the 60s. I designed the outfits that I thought would fit the theme of Macbeth and the witches. I chose to stick to the colors of red and black because they are common colors that are used in 60s costumes. One of theses costumes was inspired from the movie, Grease, in the last scene during the song, You re the One that I Want. I based this costume on the outfit that Sandy , or Olivia Newton John, is wearing. The Polka dot dress was inspired by a dance costume that I have worn. I wanted to incorporate the black and white theme with the fun patterns of the 60s as well as a halter top to add personality. The last costume was inspired by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. History Of The Cherokee Indians `The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully blended into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the American way, translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for the Cherokee nation seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land. Gold was discovered in Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they would have more gold. The Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester v. Georgia (1832), which followed a similar case from the ear before, Cherokee, Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled that the Cherokee nation was a sovereign nation and that the state of Georgia ... • 5. Duality In The Scarlet Letter Paradoxical Neutrality in Humanity Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter introduces adultery between Hester and Dimmesdale to oppose Puritanism, which believes in absolute goodness or wickedness. These two sinners mutual crime and yearning for redemption indicate the dualism in humanity. The conflicted irony between their inner selves and outward characters heightens the tension in the novel, which dissolves with the unity of private and public selves. Hawthorne s use of contrast in The Scarlet Letter reveals duality in Hester and Dimmesdale s identities to criticize Puritanism s inflexible judgment of people and to promote tolerance within humanity, which resolves with the acceptance of one s unchanging identity at the end. Hawthorne evokes the ironic darkness behind Dimmesdale s pure, public mask to indicate sin s existence in all humans, including the elects. Dimmesdale fails to overcome his past honourable public image and to reveal the truth about his sin because the townspeople ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The letter A symbolizes the drastic transformation of the Puritan s community s opinion about Hester. As the meaning changes from scorn and bitterness to awe and reverence , the original isolating symbol becomes symbol for people to accept. The ending represents Hawthorne s vision of the Puritan s evolving tolerance towards humanity. At least through Dimmesdale and Hester s journey in this novel, their two polar positivity and negativity eventually blends into a paradoxical shade of grey, which constructs one s authentic identity and leads them to ... • 6. Corruption Of Power In The Hunger Games One theme that is present in almost all dystopian fiction is corrupted power. Often time, authors merge away from utopia and use a dysfunctional society that only benefit those in charge, to work around how corrupted power is established and held using social enforcement. Divergent and The Hunger Games are both modern futuristic novels about revolution written by 21st century authors, Veronica Roth and Suzanne Collins, which explore how corrupted power is achieved and upheld by: 1. The separation of the populations into hierarchies, and 2. Distractions from the reality of their lives, and withholding information through totalitarian governments. Although the two universes share the common trait of gaining and keeping power through violence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Games put physical and psychological suffrage upon the men, women, and children. The parents are overwhelmed by the fact that they send their children out to die so they can bring some money back for survival, which takes a great toll on their conscious and creates feelings of guilt which makes them unlikely to rebel as they are having internal conflicts. The Games also make people prone and desensitized to violence; this allows there to be peacekeepers and makes the games enjoyable! Moreover, the Hunger Games are widely attended as a pleasurable entertainment, as Gale points out to Katniss: Since that year half of them died of cold. Not much entertainment in that. It s true. We spent one Hunger Games watching the players freeze to death at night. You could hardly see them because they were just huddled in balls and had no wood for fires or torches or anything. It was considered very anti climactic in the Capitol, all those quiet bloodless deaths (Collins 39). The emphasis is on the entertainment of the watchers instead of the suffrage the tributes go through. The people of every district and the Capitol spend a lot of time watching the opponents while making bets, sending help or just praying for their safety therefore the general public is so focused on the ... AGE DISCRIMINATION LAWS Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that govern age discrimination. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older workers were finding themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases companies were setting age limits regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) provides information concerning the needs and abilities of older workers. These studies found that long term unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill. The EEOC sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational programs. The ADEA prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom work with businesses and workers alike to solve problems that arise (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967). • 11. Production Credits And Financing Incentives Investments by large chemical companies are focused on biobased facilities, but production credits and financing incentives are needed to create U.S. based facilities. After a somewhat rocky start following the expiration of funding from the 2008 Farm Bill, the biobased products programs had a good level of support in the 2014 Farm Bill. The administrative regulatory rules are well developed, particularly for the Biorefinery Assistance program. Previously, this rule was strictly for advanced biofuels, whereas the current iteration expanded the sector to include biobased products and renewable chemicals. This has led to the development of a framework for assessing the biobased economy. However, this framework also requires that we make the public and private sectors be made aware of the fact that biobased products are not in stand alone facilities; rather, they are part of a large supply chain that begins with biorefineries. In the past, if a biorefinery produced anything other than biofuels, it did not qualify for Farm Bill benefits, but this has changed. The Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP) is an extremely important part of the Farm Bill. For members of the farming community to grow cellulosic, non food crops, they need assurance that they can make money by doing so. Some biomass crops require a planting lead time of 1 to 5 years, and this program now provides an assured market with mandatory funding. The BCAP is also an emerging program. Cellulosic ... • 12. A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer A Story of a Madman or a Paranoid Murderer? Often referred to as the architect of the modern short story, Edgar Allen Poe paints a vivid picture of a seemingly insane man murdering his elderly roommate in the short story, The Tell Tale Heart ( Biography ). It is a great example of Poe s style, with the major themes being insanity, paranoia, and murder. The Tell Tale Heart is a short story written with the intent of focusing on the psyche of the main character. Since it is told from a first person point of view, the audience is able to see what the protagonist is thinking and how his plan of this murder develops ( Biography ). This story might just seem like a tale of insanity, guilt, and murder, but upon further examination, it is a tale of moral deficiency, superhuman ability, paranoia, and ironic dissemblance. In The Tell Tale Heart , Poe s use of the unreliable narrator is very well executed, because the lack of certain details adds to the suspense of this grim story. The reader is able to focus on the raw details of the murderous plot and the events that follow, in addition by leaving out certain details, it leads to some interesting questions. Who is the narrator s audience that he is confessing the details of his crime to? What is the disease that he speaks of in the beginning? Is guilt the main reason for his confession at the end of the story? Perhaps the most obvious question raised after reading The Tell Tale Heart, is whether the main character actually ... • 13. Sephora Essay Sephora is a retail chain of cosmetics and perfume stores founded in 1969 by Dominique Mandonnaud. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell setting where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organization of the products in the store was by type, not by brand as in every other store. In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and merged them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were then rebranded to what is known today as Sephora. Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as Monaco and Luxembourg, after Sephora was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997, it started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the world, Sephora maintains similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic decision is made by the higher management at the headquarters. Its first international store was in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand in the European market starting with Italy. However, not every country was hospitable to Sephora s expansion such as the United Kingdom, Spain and Japan, where the company struggled. In addition, the stopping distance is longer considering the weight factor of the vehicle. Both these issues make this automobile very dangerous to the driver, passengers, other motorist, pedestrians, and small furry animals. On the other hand, the lower center of gravity that the car has to offer makes this vehicle less likely to roll over. There is also a shorter stopping distance for the car considering the weight of the car is much lighter. Sports utility vehicles take up more room compared to the car. There have been several infamous people with sports utility vehicles who park in the compact parking spaces specifically designed for compact cars. Other notorious sport utility drivers have been spotted taking up two parking spaces. These enormous machines make it difficult for other conventional people to get in and out of their automobiles. Conversely, cars take up less space to park. This allows more people to park in the area. Sports utility vehicles block the vision of the cars behind them. This does not allow drivers in the cars to be able to look ahead of the road. This can be very dangerous. For example, an owner of a sports utility vehicle is driving on the high way. • 15. What Role Did The Art Of Sculpture Play In Romanesque Church The name Hagia Sophia actually means Holy Wisdom . Hagia Sophia was built in Istanbul which was formerly known as Constantinople. Hagia Sophia was built over 1400 years ago in 537 BC by Emperor Justinian I. Hagia Sophia was built to replace the old church that was torched and burned down. Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Church. The church incorporates Christian beliefs with murals of Jesus Christs but also hanging from the ceiling are Islamic writings. The way the structural lighting of church was designed, it creates a halo type effect giving a heavenly feel. The sunlight reflects off of glass and gold which lightens the famous Hagia Sophia dome. The Disguise And Trickery Dionysus In Euripides This play written by Euripides has several little main ideas throughout but one of the main ones that I am going to focus on is the disguise and trickery Dionysus is able to perform to get what he wants. Throughout the play Dionysus never got the respect that he felt that he deserved from the other gods. The reason that Dionysus received no respect is because he is mortal; his mother who was a mortal gave birth to him by a god, so in the world they are living in this makes him equal to the humans not the gods. Because Dionysus was both Greek and Asiatic, along with being part god and part human this made him a very diverse being. Critical Analysis Of Serving In Florida By Barbara Ehrenreich Serving in Florida Barbara Ehrenreich is a best selling author, who wrote the descriptive narrative essay titled, Serving in Florida . In this writing, Ehrenreich tells the readers about her experiment into seeing if it was truly possible to live off of minimum wage, in a low wage community located in Florida. Ehrenreich initially published this writing in her novel called Nickled and Dimed, but since then, it has also been published in other books for students in school. In Serving in Florida , Ehrenreich finds a place to live for about $500 per month. While living there, she had a waitressing job, paying 2.13 per hour plus tips. Throughout the writing, Ehrenreich described the obstacles that made it almost impossible to live off of only minimum wage. Nowadays, everyone living on their own, hopes to have a good job that pays the bills and lets them live comfortably. How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the devil and death to symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic devices? The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the engraving by German artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback treading along the path of life. A path beset on all sides by many obstacles, and the dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. His look completed him, and determining his own fate by forcing a straight face. Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. • 30. Halsey V. Milton Keynes General NHS Trust The significance of this Article refers to the court ordering or referring individuals to use ADR methods instead of litigation to resolve disputes. Article 6(1) makes it clear that the court can not compel any individual to use ADR to resolve disputes as everyone has the right to a fair and public hearing. The court can only encourage individuals to use ADR methods to resolve disputes and if the parties to agree to use an ADR process, they can not be complete to reach a settlement in that process. This can be seen in the case of Halsey v Milton Keynes General NHS Trust where Dyson LJ stated that compelling parties to use ADR would not be accepted as it would violate the rights set out in Article 6 of the ECHR. Using alternative methods to resolve disputes can be argued to be the better option in resolving most civil issues but no party can be constrained to settle with whichever method being used. Furthermore, if parties do agree to mediate or use any ADR processes, the option to continue with the process is entirely voluntary, and if a party does decide to discontinue, this discontinuation however, can not be challenged in the court due to confidentially rules. ... • 32. Tensions Of The Antebellum Period Essay Ethan Bagdasarian Professor Gregor History 111 November 8, 2017 The Tensions of the Antebellum Period America has fought in numerous wars, two world wars even, but the deadliest one was the war against itself. America s first and only civil war was a brutal campaign of Americans versus Americans, brothers versus brothers, and resulted in over 600,000 deaths (White). Looking past at America s history this war was seemingly inevitable. Some say the start of the civil war was when Confederate troops attacked Union soldiers at Fort Sumter. While this officially started the war, what is more important are the events causing the tension that lead up to this breaking point. One reason for the civil war was because the North and the South had strikingly different cultures, cultures that clashed against each other. The North was a more liberal, abolitionist, industrial culture while the south was a conservative agrarian based area. The second reason for the outbreak of civil war was due to the increasing political tension within the union. Southern states who feared the removal of slavery threatened to secede if the republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln. was elected. Although there were many events that contributed to the civil war, the differing cultures of the North and South, and the political tension between the North and the South, were the two main events that caused the deadliest conflict in American history.
