The New City Of New York
It was not easy for Johnny to move into a new city. It was very problematic for him to move into a
new city because he knew no one, and he had no friends. The new city that Johnny moved into was
New York. It is also known as The Big Apple. That city has a population of 8.6 million people. New
York has many attractions. Examples of them are: Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty and Time
Square. Johnny always had a dream to go to New York and see these attractions, but he did not picture
it like this. He did not imagine himself living with his family all bored. He imagined himself partying
all night, having friends and having fun. This did not happen. Johnny had multiple problems when he
came into New York. Moving in was not his only one. He also had to face the troubles of going to a
new middle school. The new school that Johnny had transferred to was Cornwall Collegiate
Vocational School. It was a very big school, but very old. The school was old because it was built in
the year 1806. Johnny had a hard time fitting in because he was getting bullied by a kid in his class.
His name is Jack Foster. Jack was not an average kid. He was much bigger and stronger than any
regular kid. Jack is a 7 foot 3 humanoid . He weighs 197 pounds and is very tall. Jack is the most
muscular kid in his class. Some words that will describe Jack s character are the following: strong,
selfish, greedy, uncaring and cruel. Jack has one very big interest, and that is bullying kids. Jack

Recidivism of Sex Offenders Essay example
Sex offenders have been a serious problem for our legal system at all levels, not to mention those who
have been their victims. There are 43,000 inmates in prison for sexual offenses while each year in this
country over 510,000 children are sexually assaulted(Oakes 99). The latter statistic, in its context,
does not convey the severity of the situation. Each year 510,000 children have their childhood s
destroyed, possibly on more than one occasion, and are faced with dealing with the assault for the rest
of their lives. Sadly, many of those assaults are perpetrated by people who have already been through
the correctional system only to victimize again. Sex offenders, as a class of criminals, are nine times

Barbaree looked at 224 sex offenders. Of those men, 33 committed a new offense of some kind for a
general recidivism rate of 14.7 percent. Even more interesting was the study did not support the idea
that good treatment behavior, as in positive or appropriate behavior in group sessions, good homework
assignments, and positive ratings of motivation, could be associated with a less of a chance for
recidivism. They gave two possible reasons for this finding. Sex offenders, by the very nature of their
criminal behavior, are masters of manipulation and exploitation. These individuals can exhibit
behavior that contributes to favorable assessments. The second possible reason is these skills are
learned, or enhanced, in the treatment setting. Data from a program evaluation by Quinsey et al in
1998 is consistent with this interpretation. They hypothesized that it was due to exposure to sexually
deviant material or by learning about others modi operandi. A more recent study, published in the
same journal, by Looman et al in 2000 suggests the opposite. Of the released sex offenders they
studied they found a 23.6 percent recidivism rate for those treated while a 51.7 percent rate for the
untreated group. They also conducted an analysis separately on the outcome for men who had
previous sexual convictions. Those with no previous sexual offense convictions had a 20.9 percent
recidivism rate of the treated men compared to 42.9 percent of the untreated men. Of

Coffee Commodity Chain And Its Effects On The Global South
Through out this essay I will discuss the coffee commodity chain and its effects on the Global South.
This essay will also, illustrate the impact coffee has on boosting developing countries economies
while, looking into Fairtrade and its links to the commodity chain.
The world in terms of development is divided in two, which is known as the North South divide this
shows a separation between developed and developing countries. This separation is caused by
economic, social and environmental factors, economy being the clearest and most prominent
influence. For many countries in the Global South coffee is their main income, and as a result is
highly important to their economy. For instance if coffee decreases in price then farmers will not earn
enough surplus to keep their farms and what follows is a life of poverty. The following are the world s
top exporters in coffee (as of July 2016, in thousands 60kg bags): 1. Brazil with 1,926 2. Vietnam with
1,650 3. Columbia with 489 4. India with 412 5. Honduras with 403
This is a clear indication that even though these are developing countries they still remain the highest
exporters, which signals they re not entirely benefiting from their produce or in fact receiving enough
money for them. World exportation of coffee grew by 9.5% in August 2016, compared to August 2015
(ICO 2016). This displays an increase in demand for coffee therefore in retrospect farmers should be
able to increase their prices to

Thesis On Honesty
Honesty can be defined as a facet of the moral character that conveys virtuous and positive attributes
including truthfulness, integrity, and straightforwardness of the conduct. The word honesty also refers
to the absence of cheating, theft, and lying. It also means to be sincere, fair and loyal to others.
Overall, it can be stated that honesty is a positive characteristic and attribute of an individual that
affects other in a positive manner. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the word honesty. This paper
will also discuss different perspectives of this word. This paper will also discuss my personal opinion
about the word honesty.

Almost all religions of the world promote and encourage honesty. Since the purpose of this paper is
not to discuss this paper with regard to religious types, therefore, it is just to mention here that all
religions of the world encourage honesty in all affairs of life. If one person behaves and acts in an
honest manner, then he will ultimately be rewarded either in a direct way or some indirect way. The
individual will get benefit by adopting the characteristic of honesty.
If one person is not honest, then he may have to speak several lies throughout his life. He will have to
speak lies in order to hide other lies. As a result, the chain of lies will continue that will ultimately
result in personal as well as a religious loss for the individual. Similarly, if an individual speaks the
truth and does not lie with others, then he will be rewarded in either way. Therefore, it can be said that
the people should not lie with others.
One part of honesty means to act in a certain way towards other. However, another part of the
definition of honesty means to treat others in a way you expect others to treat you. Similarly, this
definition of honesty means to be honest with yourself. If you consider yourself in a situation while
treating other, then it is more likely to be treated in a more lively, ethical and honest

Adopt a long tail strategy to your business. What number of employees do you have now? What sort

you ought to consider if more get away days could be a decent advantage to empower maintenance.

employees crosswise over seas, social standards, and national occasions. At the point when their
Italian colleague is no place to be seen for the time of August, some U.S. employees may feel rubbed.
As a pioneer, your occupation is to guarantee that you follow particular nation laws and offer what s
suitable, at any rate. For instance, Lululemon, a Canadian organization, offers all employees a leave
approach that is viewed as standard in Canada. For some worldwide employees, this implies getting
additional time off, yet never less. You could consider approaches to make things more adjusted by
giving American employees a couple of additional days. Once more, do what works for your
organization s way of life.
Shouldn t something be said about wiped out leave?
Most managers still offer separate wiped out and get away leave, yet you do have a couple of
alternatives with regards to considering wiped out leave into your paid time off approach. On the off

Purpose Of Child Discipline
Everyone knows the purpose of child discipline. Parents need to set boundaries for their children and
punish them when they cross the line. Children who do not have these boundaries set for them grow
up with no respect for authority, and likely little to no respect for God. That s why discipline is
important. Proverbs 13:24, He who spares the rod Hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to
discipline him. The Bible clearly says that if someone loves their child they will discipline them.
Hebrews 12:11, For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the
peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. The Bible says that discipline is
painful in the moment but good things will come from it. God is quick to discipline us and he loves us
more that anyone in this world. So, showing good discipline isn t an action of hate (as some people
think today) it is an action of love. Proverbs 23:13 14, Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you
strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol.
The Bible says here that discipline will not kill a child but will save the child s soul. Proverbs 22:6,
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Here the
Bible says that if you train and discipline a child early is life they will remember is forever. Whether
someone is a Christian or not, they can agree that the

Colonizing a whole continent is a huge job and a lot of work. You have to go through the native
people there and the whole process of industrializing , rebuilding and bring humanitarian aid
especially since they been through war. In the mid 1800 s is when Europeans colonized the continent
of Africa. It is now 2030 and North America is deciding whether or not to colonize South America.
North America should colonize South America because they will provide them with their necessary
needs and guide the natives in a positive way by parenting them.
North America should colonize South America because they will guide them in a positive direction. In
the article The Independence In Congo (Doc. 3) it says they want to teach the native races to conduct

Feral Pigs Are Destroying the State of Texas
Imagine waking up in the middle of a warm Texas night to the thundering sound of fences being
annihilated by a cluster of swine, weighing in at a hefty 300 pounds each and armed with razor sharp
tusks. Within minutes, the rowdy pigs turn a beautifully manicured lawn into a scene fitting of the
apocalypse, a yard with numerous piles of de rooted sod, broken fence posts and mangled bushes. In
the state of Texas, feral pigs are considered one of the most destructive species of animals ever
introduced to America. The amount of destruction feral pigs produce on a yearly basis in Texas is
alarming; almost half a billion dollars in damages to property and crops are estimated every year as a
result of the pigs actions. Feral pigs are responsible for causing widespread agricultural damage,
spreading diseases in the food supply, and harming the state s ability to feed needy people with their
meat.
Agricultural ranchers in the state of Texas have to deal with feral pigs on a daily basis in order to keep
them from tearing up the food produced by their crops. One of the problems that are causing this to
happen is poorly designed fencing systems used to keep the pigs out of the crop area. In most cases,
the pigs will figure out ways to exploit weakened parts of the fencing systems and gain access to a
feast of forbidden fruits and vegetables. Some ranchers might create traps littered with food bait in
order to capture the wild hogs and have them processed for food. The issue with this

The Industrial Revolution of Great Britain
The Industrial Revolution of Great Britain
The Industrial Revolution was a period from the 18th to the 19th century where major changes in
agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and technology had a tremendous effect on the social
economic and cultural conditions starting in the Great Britain, then subsequently spreading throughout
Europe, North America, and eventually the world. Reasons The Industrial Revolution, one of the most
vital periods of change in Great Britain, occurred because of the stable economic, social, and political
stance of the country, as well as brought lasting effects in Britain in each of these areas. With its fast

Process The First Industrial Revolution began in the textile industry and was marked by a series of
inventions. They were the Spinning Jenny, the water frame, the power loom and the steam engine.
These inventions completed the mechanization of the textile industry and prepared the way for a new
system of production: large scale industry. With these developments came a need for a cheap means of
transportation. To meet it, entrepreneurs invested in digging canals to ship goods to market. In 1814,
the steam locomotive was invented. The first railway was completed in 1825. By 1850, Great Britain
had established a railroad system encompassing over 10,000 kilometers of track. Meanwhile, it had
also built a large merchant fleet, which carried British manufactured goods to all parts of the world.
By the middle of the 19th century, The Industrial Revolution was accomplished in Great Britain. The
First Industrial Revolution had forever changed Great Britain, and later the world. After 1871,
however, Europe was experiencing tremendous material growth produced by the Second Industrial
Revolution, also known as the Technological Revolution. The Second Industrial Revolution gave rise
to new inventions and products, markets and larger factories, and a new leader in the competitive
industry. In this period, Great Britain

Two Things That Play An Important Role In Jane s Life
Reactions: Throughout this episode I felt stressed for Jane. Choosing between two things that play an
important role in the life of someone is extremely hard to do. She is faced with the overwhelming
pressures of impressing her father or pursuing what will help her get by in life. She is constantly
pressured by Rogelio more than anyone, considering he wants her to be apart of his life on television.
While this is happening, Michael (Jane s ex fiance), is working with his partner to crack down on their

Rafael is Sin Rostro, but it is partly due to Michael s hatred towards Rafael. Meanwhile, Rafael is

I am constantly faced with the decision of choosing between my friends, working, and the sport I play,
but it always works out in the end. I am glad that I do not have to make such a life altering decision

Beautiful writing: But Jane, this is a tough business. You can t look to others to validate you. If you
choose to make a living in the financial arts, you must believe in yourself. Rogelio speaking with Jane.
I chose this quote because Rogelio does a good job of putting emphasis in what will really play a role
in how her life will be with the career she is choosing. What he says is true; no one but yourself is able
to motivate you and make you successful. Having belief in yourself is more important than anything
else when it comes to success.
Main argument: The main argument of this episode is that no matter what kind of pressures someone
might be facing, it is important that he or she chooses what feels right to them.
One character: This episode definitely shows a lot of character change in Rafael; it is shown that he is
concerned with impressing/winning over Xiomara. It shows how much his character has changed with
Jane. Before Jane, he would not even have considered to be concerned with the mother s approval of
the girl he is trying to

Effects of Strip Mining on the Appalachian Environment Essay
Coal mining, in particular, strip mining has become the latest casualty of the growing green movement
in the United States. What is strip mining? Encyclopædia Britannica Online defines strip mining as the
removal of vegetation, soil, and rock above a layer of coal, followed by the removal of the coal itself (
strip ). Most Americans don t realize the impact this material of biological origin that can be used as a
source of energy ( fossil ), or fossil fuel, has on their everyday lives or the nation s economy.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the mining industry directly employs some

conducting studies in the fields of biology, environmental studies, and renewable sources. According
to Harper, the change in mineral content of land affected by surface mining prohibits growth of
indigenous plant life and allows foreign plant life to invade, changing the areas ecosystem (Harper).
Water contamination is the next major concern of environmental groups. The Environmental

environmental policy, states its concerns in a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2009
(United). Specifically addressing mines in West Virginia and Kentucky, the EPA expressed serious
concerns over water pollution from strip mining ( EPA ). The rupture of an ash dike at the Tennessee

credibility to the EPA s concerns. In an article published by in Environmental Health Perspectives,

Maximum security prisons and particularly super maximum security prisons such as Pelican Bay State
Prison in California are designed to exert psychological control over violent inmates. The concept of
psychological control was pioneered by an 18th century philosopher name Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy
Bentham s method instilled self control over the incarcerated; however, it also caused numerous
inmates to fall into severe depression, rage, anxiety, hallucination, and even suicide (Clear et al.,
2013). Inmates who are placed in solitary confinement are considered as violent and dangerous;
however, in the mix of these convicted offenders are mentally ill prisoners who require crisis care or
psychiatric hospitalization (Metzner Fellner, 2010). Solitary confinement will affect any inmate
whether they are diagnosed with mental disorders or not. Bentham s philosophy of psychological
control has been criticized by critics of incarceration because it violates human life and dignity (Zara,
2013). A high profile serial killer such as Charles Manson may be sentenced in a super maximum
security facility, but he is still entitled to basic human rights and dignity afforded to him under the
Eighth Amendment. The United States ideology of maximum security prisons is completely different
from the Europeans. The objective of U.S maximum security prisons is custody and discipline;

Using The Group Membership Method Resemble Those Found By...
Results in the present study produced using the group membership method resemble those found by
Lusseau et al. (2003) in which the Doubtful Sound population could be divided into three sub groups.
The composition of groups however is somewhat different. This is in part due to different individuals
being present / alive during their study than in the current study. Where all individuals present in both
studies are placed across all three defined groups in Lusseau et al. s (2003) study, all but Kringel fall
into the same single group in the present study. This suggests that, while the overall sub group
structure may have been maintained over time, there is a degree of fluidity among members of sub
groups. This is the very nature of a fission fusion society, where group composition is dynamic over
time (Grellier et al. 2003). The three sub groups may be an apparently permanent feature of the
population when using the group membership method, with the fission fusion nature of bottlenose
dolphins defining the composition of each group through time. It must be noted however that Lusseau
et al. s (2003) study was over a period of seven years, where 546 days were spent on the water. Due to
the immense differences in field effort, direct comparisons are made with caution. Previous pilot
work, which spanned only 6 days, also yielded similar results using the group membership method.

All testing done for this study was characterized as a formal assessment. They were as follows: The
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Revised, Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, and Test of
Problem Solving skills. For speech and language evaluation specifically, the Clinical Evaluation of
Language Fundamentals Revised was given. (Ghaziuddin, Bolyard, Alessi, 1994) Wilson and Dyson
(1982) targeted speech and language characteristics of children with Noonan Syndrome. They used the
following assessments to evaluate the speech and language development of children: The Vocabulary
Comprehension Scale, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, and an Oral Mechanism Exam. A language
sample was also taken and used to analyze pragmatic skills, semantic relationships, and phonological
processes. (Wilson Dyson, 1982) Lee, Portnoy, Hill, and Patton (2005) studied the psychological
aspect of children with Noonan Syndrome. All of the assessments were conducted in the child s most
natural environment, which was their home setting. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children
Revised was used to test the children s overall intelligence. This test is often used in many of these
studies to obtain a type of baseline for each child. This is helpful, because then children from multiple

Black Of Black And Black Americans
One aspect of life for black people in the United States of America that has always remained
consistent is white racial hostility. A history of slavery, segregation, unequal protection of the law, and
second class citizenship inflicted by a white power structure that dominates on a national level has
created a harmful reality for black people. Every aspect of black public life must either be under the
control of or in opposition to white supremacy. Every state sanctioned institution works to use black
bodies as tools for the production of capital in any form, yet simultaneously exploits and maltreats
black people so that they cannot fully participate in and benefit from the systems which they are
indoctrinated to invest in. White America leverages its money, comfort, and tyranny on Black
America. It is for this reason that separate spaces are not merely essential to the viability of black
counter publics but inherent to their existence, since black involvement in white spaces and systems
typically leads to black assimilation or marginalization. Within these black counter publics, hip hop
and mass connection through new media forms direct attention and allow for personal expression
which shapes black worldview and public opinion, but this simply makes black people more
comfortable with their oppression and less involved in politics.
Black counter publics first emerged at the end of the Civil War during Reconstruction, a time period
when black agency and involvement in

Healthy Eating and Its Importance
To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art Francois de La Rochefoucauld (1613 1680).
Eating is necessary in order to live; but to eat with knowledge is a talent in it self. Unhealthy eating is
one of the fastest growing health risks today. Obesity is a contributing factor which leads to many
deadly illnesses and is spreading throughout the nation. There is a way to stop this killer and healthy
eating is the cure. Healthful Eating will help one to live longer and give one the confidence needed in
knowing that body is at its best. Making small changes in every day eating habits will enable people to

For example, a baked potato is noted on the food pyramid as being a healthy food choice. Once
cheese, bacon, sour cream, and butter are added, one begins pushing the limits of healthy eating. The
key for most people is to listen to what their conscience is saying. One of the first questions to
consider is; is there a feeling of hunger? If the answer happens to be no, then individuals should focus
their mind on other activities such as reading, walking, or bicycling. One should take advantage of
physical activities he or she and his or her acquaintances enjoy doing together (Eating Healthy, 2006).
When friends join each other in making healthy eating choices and keeping fit, the success rate for
accomplishing set goals becomes much greater. The possibilities of achieving and maintaining good
health is influenced by the company someone chooses to keep. One should inform friends and family
about new dieting goals and encourage them to eat healthy as well. Doing so will develop a support
system and encourage all to develop healthy lifestyles. There are steps that people can take to begin
making the change to a healthier life. First, eat in modesty by portioning out correct serving sizes.
During the first week, begin shopping for healthier foods. One should learn his or her likes and

Environmental Problems Of Global Warming
Introduction
Along with the rapid economic development in the past several decades, environmental problems
come to the public s attention recently. People from different countries all around the world start to
pay more attention to the environmental issues. One of the most concerned issues is global warming
which is mostly caused by the greenhouse gases emissions. Global warming will lead to long lasting
changes in our climate and may threaten people s health and welfare for current and future
generations. [1] United States Environmental Protection Agency finds that in 2012, the electric power
sector accounted for 32% of U.S. total greenhouse gas emissions. [1] Power plants are the largest
source of U.S. CO2 emissions. [1] Since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All over the world, sea levels will rise, perhaps by as much as 20 to 40 cm, by the beginning of the
next century. Higher sea levels will threaten the low lying coastal areas of the world, such as the
Netherlands and Bangladesh. Consequently, millions of people will have to leave their homes and
large areas of farmland will be ruined because of floods.
Besides, the changes in the weather will do the damages to the various kinds of crops grown in
different parts of the world. Many plants, such as maize and sugarcane, do not grow in higher
temperature. Changes in the amount of rainfall will also harm many plants grow. This will lead to
some countries not having enough food. Brazil, parts of Africa, south east Asia, and China will be
affected the most and many people could suffer from hunger.

Since its first commercial use in powering the industrial era during the 1700s, coal has been the

States employed over 500,000 miners and removed over a billion short tons of coal from the earth [1]
[2]. In recent years, these numbers have dropped to employing 80,396 people and mining 984.8

Impact Of Stereotypes On Society
The Impact of Stereotypes on Society I live by this quote about stereotypes, I don t believe in
stereotypes. I prefer to hate people on a more personal basis (I don t believe in stereotypes). This
shows that you shouldn t hate on someone for the way they look, their background. You should judge
them by their personal qualities. People judge others way too quickly by the way they look.
Stereotypes are labels that are unfairly placed on people, and they affect all of us. Stereotypes can be
defined as a picture of how people see others because of the way they look and have acted, and they
impact our society in many ways (Stereotypes). For example, in an interview with Guy Raz from
NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that, I m forced to speak a certain way and denounce the other ways of
navigating language that come from the cultural and racial spaces in my life (Raz, Jamila). This
defines the stereotype definition because people think she cannot talk well because of her background
of where she grew up. This negatively impacts society because the society thinks all black people talk
different from where they grew up at and how they look. In another interview with Guy Raz, Maz
Jabrani says that I know all my Middle Eastern and Muslim friends in the states were watching TV
going, please don t be Middle Eastern, don t Hassen, don t be Hussein. And the name came out Jack. I

Evolution Chapter 22

Chapter 22: Descent with Modification: A Darwinian View of Life
As you study this chapter, read several paragraphs at a time to catch the flow of ideas and understand
the reasoning that is being described. In some places, the text describes a narrative or story of events
that led to
Darwin s theory of evolution. Therefore, first read the narrative to absorb the big picture and then
return to answer the few questions that accompany this material.
Overview
1.
Define evolution broadly and then give a narrower definition, as discussed in the overview.
Evolution: Descent with modification; the idea that living species are descendants of ancestral species
that were different from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
inheritance of acquired characteristics: This idea states that an organism could pass these
modifications of use and disuse to its offspring.
8.
Although Lamarck s mechanism of evolution does not explain the changes in species over time, his
thinking has been influential. What is considered to be the great importance of his ideas? Lamarck
recognized that the match of organisms to their environments can be explained by gradual
evolutionary change rather than special creation.
Concept 22.2 Descent with modification by natural selection explains the adaptations of organisms
and the unity and diversity of life
9.
Charles Darwin proposed that the mechanism of evolution is natural selection and that it explains how
adaptations arise. What are adaptations? Give two examples of adaptations.
Adaptations are inherited characteristics of organisms that enhance their survival and reproduction in
specific environments. Possible examples include the mottled coloration of a fawn that allows it to
blend with its environment, or the sharp talons and beaks of birds of prey so well suited for predation.
10.
Explain the process of natural selection.
In the process of natural selection, individuals that have certain inherited traits tend to survive and
reproduce at higher rates than other individuals because of those traits.

Can we follow the art of Courtly Love today?
De Amore, written by Andreas Capellanus is a treatise about the art of courtly love. Douglas Kelly, in
his article mentions that, This disconcerting treatise provides us with the only true art of courtly love
that we possess, but it also contains a very harsh attack against love. The antithetical attitude towards
love is all the more astonishing because Andreas, although a churchman, devoted far more space to the
instruction on how to love and the praise of love than to the attack on it (Kelly, 1968, p.119).

Therefore, I believe that blind people are better at love than us because they know the true value of
being in love. A lot of times, we take love for granted and feel that it s not hard to find. But we never
understand how hard it is for some people, specially the ones with impairments and how much one
needs to struggle to have someone in their lives who loves them unconditionally.
I completely disagree with the limitations of age to love. I think someone can fall in love when they
are fifty and also when they are fifteen. For example, my aunt was unmarried till she was fifty two.
She just never found someone who she loved deeply but she continued to look for love. But at the age
of fifty two, she met her husband and they fell in love. So, I do not think that age should be a factor in
love. I think a person can fall in love at any time in their lives.
And as far as excess of passion is concerned, I feel that for some people, one woman/man is never
enough and they still might continue to love more than one person. I think it is okay for a person to
constantly shift lovers as long as they find someone who they can love forever and then spend the rest
of their life with that person.

The Consumer Price Index ( Cpi ) Essay
Chapter 7 and 8 from A Guide to Everyday Economic Statistics explains the value of prices, money,
and interest rates alongside the value of stock prices and international trade. As a result, we will be
able to grasp the concept of how the Consumer Price Index (CPI), how to use an estimate the inflation
from the CPI, Producer Price Index (PPI), prime rate and how to measure the Dow Jones Industrial
Average (DJIA) and international value of the dollar in the stock market.
Introduction
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of the U.S. Department of releases the statistics of every part of
that consist of prices, money and interest rates. The BLS produces a cost or living index on a monthly
bases with the understanding of what CPI would produce. Therefore, BLS publicizes the measure the
change between the producer and the first producer of the purchaser by the PPI. Although, BLS
release statistic on CPI and PPI, DJIA measure the stock market performances. The international value
of the dollar referred to the issue of purchase power in terms of other currencies.
Application
Consumer Price Index. A measure used for estimation of price changes in the market basket of goods
and services representative of consumption expenditure, CPI is not part of the cost of living index,
however, it is based on prices of food, clothing, shelter, fuels, transportation fares, charges for
services, drugs, and other goods and services that people buy for day to day living. Consumer Price

The Evil Characters Of Macbeth And Julius Caesar
Shakespeare writes in many unique styles to express different issues. he uses evil characters to
illustrate the depravity in his writing, and how evil characters affect the outcome of the play
Shakespeare s evil writing is mostly prominently evident in his plays, Macbeth and Julius Caesar ..
Shakespeare expresses the evil characteristics of Macbeth and Julius Caesar by showing their greed,
ambition, and their hubris characters
In the plays, Macbeth and Cassius are expressed as greedy people. In both ways, Macbeth, and
Cassius use weapons and other people get to their goals. Macbeth does whatever is in his mind and
doesn t consider the outcome. No son of mine succeeding if t be so, for Banquo s issue have I filled
my mind (Macbeth, III, ii, 65 67). Macbeth in This quote is expressing how he has no son and how he
murdering the king means that after he dies the new king will become Banquo s son. Macbeth is
greatly upset by this as he wants the throne to stay within his family due to his lust for power. In the
same manner, Cassius that relates to Macbeth, Alas, it cried, give me some drink, titanium , as a sick
girt ye Gods, it doth amaze me a man of such feeble temper should so get the start of the majestic
world and bear the palm alone (Julius Caesar, I, ii, 128 132). Cassius dislikes Caesar because of his
reactions and what is being done to the city. Later, Caesar began acting weird by whining and asking
the people to provide him a drink. Cassius asked how that man be our king. A strong wish to have
more money, things, or power than you need ( Ambitions ). This quote relates to both Macbeth and
Cassius because it is saying when people get what they want and succeed with it they always want
more so they can continue to do what they were doing. In This case, both Macbeth and Cassius have a
similar trait among them since they both are trying to become the bigger person in their countries,
while by trying to get rid of the current people that are in their way. continuing, ambition further
exhibits Macbeth and Cassius evil character, which leads them to power. They both are self obsessed
with themselves that they do whatever it takes to make themselves happy. For example, for mine own

If the microkernel has networking capabilities, there is also no principal objection in placing those
servers on remote machines (which run the same microkernel). 13. Q: Explain the principal operation
of a page based distributed shared memory system. A: Page based DSM makes use of the virtual
memory capabilities of an operating system. Whenever an application addresses a memory location
that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault occurs, giving the
operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred page, transfer its content
over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the application can continue.
PROBLEM SOLUTIONS FOR CHAPTER 1 3 14. Q: What is the reason for developing distributed
shared memory systems? What do you see as the main problem hindering efficient implementations?
A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed programs based on message passing
primitives is much harder than being able to use shared memory for communication. Efficiency of
DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what you do, page transfers across the network need
to take place. If pages are shared by different processors, it is quite easy to get into a state similar to
thrashing in virtual memory systems. In the end, DSM systems can never be faster than message
passing solutions, and will generally be

Symbolism In A Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne creates a story based around real events that took place during the seventeenth
century. Goodman Brown is exposed to the real world and what may be the true identity of the people
around him. After seeing the truth, Goodman Brown does not know who he can truly trust. Although
Brown loves his wife and is strong in his faith, he begins to question himself and everything around
him. This story is written with foreshadowing, symbolism, and point of view. In the story, A Young
Goodman Brown , Nathanial Hawthorne uses true events to portray how life can sometimes be
confusing and a lie.
Nathanial Hawthorn was born on July 4th 1804 and he died on May 19th 1864. His home life helped
him create this great story. His father died and left him and his siblings with his stepmother. Nathanial
took life events and created a beautiful story making people question do you really know a person.
This story really never tells if the vision Goodman Brown has is true or just a nightmare.
Many of the characters have small roles that are very significant to the end of the story. Nathanial s
characters are flat, with little to no detail. The information given about the characters was not a great
amount. Faith is one of the first characters shown in the short story. She is a very important key to the
story because Goodman Brown loves her so. Hawthorne based A Young Goodman Brown on many

Essay about How the Media Uses an Ideal Victim in...
In recent years, the subject of crime has become an increasingly important theme of political,
academic, and public debate. In particular, the media today is more focused on victims than it has ever
been before. Through media representations of the ideal victim , this essay will subsequently show
how the media are able to construct and re affirm pre existing traditional ideologies within the public
realm. In effect, this assignment will critically assess the concept of an ideal victim and show how the
media have used this when describing crime. In reference to the media s role, they have been
highlighted for playing a part in maintaining these views by portraying victims in a certain way
according to the newsworthiness of each story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims could
be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is gendered, it is
biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and weak also
coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes preferred,
particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the experience
with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate crime such as
racism or homophobia.
In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that would
easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless, some
clichéd views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986) describes the
idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of being a victim.
Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable and worthy of help,
sympathy and attention. Walklate (2005) used the fairytale of little red riding hood to illustrate the
ideal victim ; young, innocent, female out doing good deeds only to be attacked by

Oulston. Due to the agricultural nature of the valley, ploughed fields and crops are likely; therefore

The village stands on the steep, southern slopes of Castle Hill and its name derives from the Celtic

Ecgfrith, King of Northumbria gave Crayke, together with all the land within a three mile radius, to St
Cuthbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne. Shortly afterwards, St Cuthbert established a monastery, adjacent to

people can post and a lot of the users are not happy. The big problem is that social media companies
have too much power with censoring what people say and read, which is limiting people s freedom of
speech and I don t believe that companies should censor a lot of the things people post in social media
unless is something bad that can harm someone. Companies find ways to censor people s media post
either because they believe it can hurt a country s image or they believe others wouldn t like it.
When it comes to social media everyone believes they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People only think that this mostly happens in the United states but it happens all around the world
such as Venezuela, Hungary, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, etc. In Venezuela they are super strict with the
censorship that The government has passed legislation limiting press freedom, restricted access to
public information, levied fines and taxes on media companies... The government had gotten so strict
that they would use violence to those who posted bad things about the country or do something else
that could stop the user from posting. In 2014, Venezuela had a problem where a violent clash between
the police and protesters burst, where the protesters were standing up because a crime on a provincial
campus had happened, but it ended up causing a lot of violence. People started posting pictures of
dead and wounded people in twitter but twitter had blocked all the images. This shows that the
government is trying to cover up the problems that was occurring in Venezuela because it can hurt
how they look as a country and people can start to think this it is an unsafe place to live in. In the
article Censorship in the social media it states, Diaz had posted to Facebook a short docudrama by a
Venezuelan artist about the conditions of political prisoners.. But she notices soon after uploading the
video had disappeared. She tried to re upload it, she got a message that the action was disallowed, but
was given no further explanation. Censorship has gone far to the point that companies are just deleting
the post with no explanation. That s a big problem because we need reasons to why they re getting rid
of our post. If the companies are taking away the people s right of speech, meaning they can say
whatever they feel like it, then they deserve at least an explanation to why it wasn t

Pearl Harbor Inaccuracies
Pearl Harbor is a love story film set in Pearl Harbor during World War II, but many inaccuracies are
found throughout the film concerning the war. The film s depiction of the events and chronology of
World War II are inaccurate. Details and the behaviors of characters during the war are also
inaccurately portrayed, and certain emotions and messages are wanted to be conveyed by the director
of the film, Michael Bay. Pearl Harbor inaccurately depicts the true chronology and events of World
War II. For starters, the crop duster biplane shown in the beginning shot was not commercially
available until the late 30 s, and crop dusting was not a profession until after the end of the war.
Events in the movie are presented realistically in the sense that Japan does attack Pearl Harbor;
however, it is what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the movie shows the B 25 s only bombing Tokyo during the Doolittle Raid when in
reality, three major industrial cities were bombed. When the movie showed the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor the nurses could be seen wearing casual clothing. These nurses, being naval employees,
would have been required to wear their uniforms at all times in real life. Buildings are also shown
accurately, as proven when the White House in the movie is shown to have air conditioners on its roof.
Overall, the look of the film inaccurately reflects the war, be it because of the character s modern
haircuts or the fact that the Marlboro cigarettes shown in various scenes were not manufactured until
much later. The film s overall look at the war is further brought down by the awkward love triangle
between Rafe, Danny, and Evelyn. So far, the film s illustration of events, details, and overall look at
the war have been inaccurate; even more inaccuracies can be found when the characters themselves

Analysis Of To Kill A Mockingbird And The Death Of Innocence
In both the novels To Kill a Mockingbird, by Lee Harper, and The Death of Innocence, by Mamie Till
Mobley, a parallel is evident between the themes of the works, as well as, their courageous characters.
The fictional character Atticus Finch describes fortitude with stating It s when you know you re licked
before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what ( Lee 112). His ideals
and fearless persona show similarities to that of Mamie Till Mobley, who, in The Death of Innocence,
fights for the civil rights movement after her son is murdered. Mr.Finch s definition of bravery fits that
of the figure Mamie Till.
The unfortunate manslaughter of Emmett Till was the spark that ignited an inferno of civil rights
ideals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deceit is no shade of the rainbow, is is a facet of human life. Affirming this fact audibly is brash, like
his choice to give Tom the best defense possible. The lawyer s gallant defense of Tom Robinson
displayed his progressive convictions regarding a colorless courtroom. Mr.Finch is entirely aware of
the prejudice environment surrounding him, and the disgrace his choice to defend Tom has brought
upon his children from their peers. His campaigning attempt for Tom is long and difficult, and based
on the quote above, he is aware victory will not result. His reasoning is explained when he says, The
one place where a man ought to get a square deal is in a courtroom, be he any color of the rainbow,
but people have a way of carrying their resentments right into a jury box. ( Lee 295 ) Atticus s
occupation revolves around the belief that fair trial is mandatory, and a racially biased jury should not
be able to destroy this. Mr. Finch chooses to make his lifestyle revolve around this idea, and
consequently is active in enforcing it in his community. This aspect of life is similarly mirrored in the
way Mamie Till Mobley approached living after the death of her son. Mamie traveled to various
conferences,

Searching A Pupil S Locker Without Probable Cause Is A
Searching a pupil s locker without probable cause is a violation of trust and the Fourth Amendment.
Probable cause is legally defined as Apparent facts discovered through logical inquiry that would lead
a reasonably intelligent and prudent person to believe that an accused person has committed a crime,
thereby warranting his or her prosecution, or that a Cause of Action has accrued, justifying a civil
lawsuit or the search of the person or premises by the free dictionary (Probable Cause). Locker
searches have always been a risky and delicate precaution taken by schools that have occasionally lead
to lawsuits, one instance of legal action being taken as a result of the search of a student is the
notorious 1980 s New Jersey v. T.L.O ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though a fair amount of time and money towards searches there is still an alarming amount of theft
and assault on school property. As technology has advanced over the years schools have gotten
electronic gadgets and techniques to keep students out of trouble. As the amount of technology and
precautions taken to avoid students getting in trouble the amount of students breaking rule increases
with it. Though schools take many steps to protect students, pupils still report that drugs are made
accessible to them on school property, schools combine document that nearly 2 million crimes were
reported to them, and many students still feel unsafe (violence in U.S. public schools). These reports
show that millions of dollars provided by taxes go towards school security and it has done less than
intended. When schools search lockers and students without probable cause they become vulnerable to
many legal issues. In the last decade students have lost much of their fourth amendment rights,
students are losing their rights because the U.S. supreme court continues to give schools more and
more leeway to ensure a safer and more disciplined (Ascd. School right to search students) school.
The fourth amendment states that in order for someone to be searched and arrested he would need to

The Consumer Federation Of America
Americans resoundingly reject non driving characteristics in determining auto insurance rates.
If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto insurance than other
citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address. Those are the findings of the Consumer
Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday.
Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums
The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five
of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average
of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower
economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception.
Insurance is regulated at the state level.
Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA
s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner. Insurance companies are
penalizing good drivers by hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic
and social status, and the end result is that the poor pay more, much more.
Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for consumers. They
are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status, ownership of a car during prior six months,
and marital status.
The CFA found that drivers with the same driving

Chromium-6 Research Paper
56% of our population in The United States uses tap water on a daily basis. We shower in it, drink it,
cook with it, and water out plants with it. How can we know that our water is safe? Well, yearly
groundwater tests should be taken. Even if they are expensive; it is better to pay the small amount
now, than having to pay millions of dollars for the health expenses of people later. There is a huge
chance that chromium could be in our water; chromium is a chemical that is used extensively by
different industries. For example, it is used to prevent corrosion in pipes (PG E), leather tanning and
electroplating. Electroplating is the process of changing the surface of a metal to prevent the surface
from wearing out; this is widely used on cars, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The EPA issued that the limit for Chromium in drinking water is 100 parts per billion. But there are
yet to be limits on the amount of Chromium 6 in our drinking water. There is currently no federal
testing mandate, so labs aren t capable of testing local waters. But, not to worry, because Chromium at
certain concentrations could actually be a nutrient. Chromium 6 (Hexavalent Chromium) in our water
is a dangerous to have, but if it is reduced to Chromium 3, it becomes a nutrient. Research in the 1980
s and early 1990 s has been done in making this reduction of Chromium 6 to Chromium 3. However, it
was also a very expensive process and it was at times ineffective. This is done by installing a series of
pumping wells, extract the water from the aquifer, and treat it with techniques previously developed
for surface waters, this was the pump and treat method. There is a lot of intervention with the clean
water and the contaminated whatever, so the process of cleaning the contaminated water isn t carried
out thoroughly. There are other ways of cleaning the water; one is letting the aquifers naturally take
care of the

For years I passed up a billboard on a busy highway in my town that read Want to teach?.... When can
you start? I never thought anything of it, and it didn t really register that the billboard was speaking to
me until one day it did. I had what I have come to know as a come to the carpet moment with myself. I
realized that in my current job I could help a few, but in becoming an educator I could pour kindness
into others that I would like to see more of in our current trying times. Of course there is a lot to be
done, and it is my deepest desire that I join the forces of dedicated individuals who become masters of
education such as the teacher I will write to you about today. I began my rounds of observations on

appeared to be a little confused, however she quickly refreshed the definition of what parallel lines are
and was able to help the students to better identify which lines in the shapes were parallel thus making
a certain shape a parallelogram. This piece of the lesson also included a mini quiz which the class also

  • 2. The New City Of New York It was not easy for Johnny to move into a new city. It was very problematic for him to move into a new city because he knew no one, and he had no friends. The new city that Johnny moved into was New York. It is also known as The Big Apple. That city has a population of 8.6 million people. New York has many attractions. Examples of them are: Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty and Time Square. Johnny always had a dream to go to New York and see these attractions, but he did not picture it like this. He did not imagine himself living with his family all bored. He imagined himself partying all night, having friends and having fun. This did not happen. Johnny had multiple problems when he came into New York. Moving in was not his only one. He also had to face the troubles of going to a new middle school. The new school that Johnny had transferred to was Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School. It was a very big school, but very old. The school was old because it was built in the year 1806. Johnny had a hard time fitting in because he was getting bullied by a kid in his class. His name is Jack Foster. Jack was not an average kid. He was much bigger and stronger than any regular kid. Jack is a 7 foot 3 humanoid . He weighs 197 pounds and is very tall. Jack is the most muscular kid in his class. Some words that will describe Jack s character are the following: strong, selfish, greedy, uncaring and cruel. Jack has one very big interest, and that is bullying kids. Jack would use ... • 4. Recidivism of Sex Offenders Essay example Sex offenders have been a serious problem for our legal system at all levels, not to mention those who have been their victims. There are 43,000 inmates in prison for sexual offenses while each year in this country over 510,000 children are sexually assaulted(Oakes 99). The latter statistic, in its context, does not convey the severity of the situation. Each year 510,000 children have their childhood s destroyed, possibly on more than one occasion, and are faced with dealing with the assault for the rest of their lives. Sadly, many of those assaults are perpetrated by people who have already been through the correctional system only to victimize again. Of those men, 33 committed a new offense of some kind for a general recidivism rate of 14.7 percent. Even more interesting was the study did not support the idea that good treatment behavior, as in positive or appropriate behavior in group sessions, good homework assignments, and positive ratings of motivation, could be associated with a less of a chance for recidivism. They gave two possible reasons for this finding. Sex offenders, by the very nature of their criminal behavior, are masters of manipulation and exploitation. These individuals can exhibit behavior that contributes to favorable assessments. The second possible reason is these skills are learned, or enhanced, in the treatment setting. Data from a program evaluation by Quinsey et al in 1998 is consistent with this interpretation. They hypothesized that it was due to exposure to sexually deviant material or by learning about others modi operandi. A more recent study, published in the same journal, by Looman et al in 2000 suggests the opposite. Of the released sex offenders they studied they found a 23.6 percent recidivism rate for those treated while a 51.7 percent rate for the untreated group. They also conducted an analysis separately on the outcome for men who had previous sexual convictions. Those with no previous sexual offense convictions had a 20.9 percent recidivism rate of the treated men compared to 42.9 percent of the untreated men. Of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Coffee Commodity Chain And Its Effects On The Global South Through out this essay I will discuss the coffee commodity chain and its effects on the Global South. This essay will also, illustrate the impact coffee has on boosting developing countries economies while, looking into Fairtrade and its links to the commodity chain. The world in terms of development is divided in two, which is known as the North South divide this shows a separation between developed and developing countries. This separation is caused by economic, social and environmental factors, economy being the clearest and most prominent influence. For many countries in the Global South coffee is their main income, and as a result is highly important to their economy. For instance if coffee decreases in price then farmers will not earn enough surplus to keep their farms and what follows is a life of poverty. The following are the world s top exporters in coffee (as of July 2016, in thousands 60kg bags): 1. Brazil with 1,926 2. Vietnam with 1,650 3. Columbia with 489 4. India with 412 5. Honduras with 403 This is a clear indication that even though these are developing countries they still remain the highest exporters, which signals they re not entirely benefiting from their produce or in fact receiving enough money for them. World exportation of coffee grew by 9.5% in August 2016, compared to August 2015 (ICO 2016). This displays an increase in demand for coffee therefore in retrospect farmers should be able to increase their prices to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Purpose Of Child Discipline Everyone knows the purpose of child discipline. Parents need to set boundaries for their children and punish them when they cross the line. Children who do not have these boundaries set for them grow up with no respect for authority, and likely little to no respect for God. That s why discipline is important. Proverbs 13:24, He who spares the rod Hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. The Bible clearly says that if someone loves their child they will discipline them. Hebrews 12:11, For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. The Bible says that discipline is painful in the moment but good things will come from it. God is quick to discipline us and he loves us more that anyone in this world. So, showing good discipline isn t an action of hate (as some people think today) it is an action of love. Proverbs 23:13 14, Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol. The Bible says here that discipline will not kill a child but will save the child s soul. Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Here the Bible says that if you train and discipline a child early is life they will remember is forever. Whether someone is a Christian or not, they can agree that the ... • 13. Feral Pigs Are Destroying the State of Texas Imagine waking up in the middle of a warm Texas night to the thundering sound of fences being annihilated by a cluster of swine, weighing in at a hefty 300 pounds each and armed with razor sharp tusks. Within minutes, the rowdy pigs turn a beautifully manicured lawn into a scene fitting of the apocalypse, a yard with numerous piles of de rooted sod, broken fence posts and mangled bushes. In the state of Texas, feral pigs are considered one of the most destructive species of animals ever introduced to America. The amount of destruction feral pigs produce on a yearly basis in Texas is alarming; almost half a billion dollars in damages to property and crops are estimated every year as a result of the pigs actions. Feral pigs are responsible for causing widespread agricultural damage, spreading diseases in the food supply, and harming the state s ability to feed needy people with their meat. Agricultural ranchers in the state of Texas have to deal with feral pigs on a daily basis in order to keep them from tearing up the food produced by their crops. One of the problems that are causing this to happen is poorly designed fencing systems used to keep the pigs out of the crop area. In most cases, the pigs will figure out ways to exploit weakened parts of the fencing systems and gain access to a feast of forbidden fruits and vegetables. Some ranchers might create traps littered with food bait in order to capture the wild hogs and have them processed for food. The issue with this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These inventions completed the mechanization of the textile industry and prepared the way for a new system of production: large scale industry. With these developments came a need for a cheap means of transportation. To meet it, entrepreneurs invested in digging canals to ship goods to market. In 1814, the steam locomotive was invented. The first railway was completed in 1825. By 1850, Great Britain had established a railroad system encompassing over 10,000 kilometers of track. Meanwhile, it had also built a large merchant fleet, which carried British manufactured goods to all parts of the world. By the middle of the 19th century, The Industrial Revolution was accomplished in Great Britain. The First Industrial Revolution had forever changed Great Britain, and later the world. Bentham s philosophy of psychological control has been criticized by critics of incarceration because it violates human life and dignity (Zara, 2013). A high profile serial killer such as Charles Manson may be sentenced in a super maximum security facility, but he is still entitled to basic human rights and dignity afforded to him under the Eighth Amendment. The United States ideology of maximum security prisons is completely different from the Europeans. The objective of U.S maximum security prisons is custody and discipline; whereas, European ... • 18. Using The Group Membership Method Resemble Those Found By... Results in the present study produced using the group membership method resemble those found by Lusseau et al. (2003) in which the Doubtful Sound population could be divided into three sub groups. The composition of groups however is somewhat different. This is in part due to different individuals being present / alive during their study than in the current study. Where all individuals present in both studies are placed across all three defined groups in Lusseau et al. s (2003) study, all but Kringel fall into the same single group in the present study. This suggests that, while the overall sub group structure may have been maintained over time, there is a degree of fluidity among members of sub groups. This is the very nature of a fission fusion society, where group composition is dynamic over time (Grellier et al. 2003). The three sub groups may be an apparently permanent feature of the population when using the group membership method, with the fission fusion nature of bottlenose dolphins defining the composition of each group through time. It must be noted however that Lusseau et al. s (2003) study was over a period of seven years, where 546 days were spent on the water. Due to the immense differences in field effort, direct comparisons are made with caution. Previous pilot work, which spanned only 6 days, also yielded similar results using the group membership method. All testing done for this study was characterized as a formal assessment. They were as follows: The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Revised, Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, and Test of Problem Solving skills. For speech and language evaluation specifically, the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals Revised was given. (Ghaziuddin, Bolyard, Alessi, 1994) Wilson and Dyson (1982) targeted speech and language characteristics of children with Noonan Syndrome. They used the following assessments to evaluate the speech and language development of children: The Vocabulary Comprehension Scale, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, and an Oral Mechanism Exam. A language sample was also taken and used to analyze pragmatic skills, semantic relationships, and phonological processes. (Wilson Dyson, 1982) Lee, Portnoy, Hill, and Patton (2005) studied the psychological aspect of children with Noonan Syndrome. All of the assessments were conducted in the child s most natural environment, which was their home setting. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Revised was used to test the children s overall intelligence. This test is often used in many of these studies to obtain a type of baseline for each child. This is helpful, because then children from multiple studies can be compared as opposed to children from just one particular study. This is due to the fact that the ... • 22. Black Of Black And Black Americans One aspect of life for black people in the United States of America that has always remained consistent is white racial hostility. A history of slavery, segregation, unequal protection of the law, and second class citizenship inflicted by a white power structure that dominates on a national level has created a harmful reality for black people. Every aspect of black public life must either be under the control of or in opposition to white supremacy. Every state sanctioned institution works to use black bodies as tools for the production of capital in any form, yet simultaneously exploits and maltreats black people so that they cannot fully participate in and benefit from the systems which they are indoctrinated to invest in. White America leverages its money, comfort, and tyranny on Black America. It is for this reason that separate spaces are not merely essential to the viability of black counter publics but inherent to their existence, since black involvement in white spaces and systems typically leads to black assimilation or marginalization. Within these black counter publics, hip hop and mass connection through new media forms direct attention and allow for personal expression which shapes black worldview and public opinion, but this simply makes black people more comfortable with their oppression and less involved in politics. Black counter publics first emerged at the end of the Civil War during Reconstruction, a time period when black agency and involvement in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the answer happens to be no, then individuals should focus their mind on other activities such as reading, walking, or bicycling. One should take advantage of physical activities he or she and his or her acquaintances enjoy doing together (Eating Healthy, 2006). • 25. Impact Of Stereotypes On Society The Impact of Stereotypes on Society I live by this quote about stereotypes, I don t believe in stereotypes. I prefer to hate people on a more personal basis (I don t believe in stereotypes). This shows that you shouldn t hate on someone for the way they look, their background. You should judge them by their personal qualities. People judge others way too quickly by the way they look. Stereotypes are labels that are unfairly placed on people, and they affect all of us. Stereotypes can be defined as a picture of how people see others because of the way they look and have acted, and they impact our society in many ways (Stereotypes). For example, in an interview with Guy Raz from NPR, Jamila Lyiscott says that, I m forced to speak a certain way and denounce the other ways of navigating language that come from the cultural and racial spaces in my life (Raz, Jamila). This defines the stereotype definition because people think she cannot talk well because of her background of where she grew up. This negatively impacts society because the society thinks all black people talk different from where they grew up at and how they look. In another interview with Guy Raz, Maz Jabrani says that I know all my Middle Eastern and Muslim friends in the states were watching TV going, please don t be Middle Eastern, don t Hassen, don t be Hussein. Although Lamarck s mechanism of evolution does not explain the changes in species over time, his thinking has been influential. What is considered to be the great importance of his ideas? Lamarck recognized that the match of organisms to their environments can be explained by gradual evolutionary change rather than special creation. Concept 22.2 Descent with modification by natural selection explains the adaptations of organisms and the unity and diversity of life 9. Charles Darwin proposed that the mechanism of evolution is natural selection and that it explains how adaptations arise. What are adaptations? Give two examples of adaptations. Adaptations are inherited characteristics of organisms that enhance their survival and reproduction in specific environments. Possible examples include the mottled coloration of a fawn that allows it to blend with its environment, or the sharp talons and beaks of birds of prey so well suited for predation. 10. In the process of natural selection, individuals that have certain inherited traits tend to survive and reproduce at higher rates than other individuals because of those traits.

I completely disagree with the limitations of age to love. I think someone can fall in love when they are fifty and also when they are fifteen. For example, my aunt was unmarried till she was fifty two. She just never found someone who she loved deeply but she continued to look for love. But at the age of fifty two, she met her husband and they fell in love. So, I do not think that age should be a factor in love. I think a person can fall in love at any time in their lives. Shakespeare expresses the evil characteristics of Macbeth and Julius Caesar by showing their greed, ambition, and their hubris characters In the plays, Macbeth and Cassius are expressed as greedy people. Macbeth is greatly upset by this as he wants the throne to stay within his family due to his lust for power. In the same manner, Cassius that relates to Macbeth, Alas, it cried, give me some drink, titanium , as a sick girt ye Gods, it doth amaze me a man of such feeble temper should so get the start of the majestic world and bear the palm alone (Julius Caesar, I, ii, 128 132). Cassius asked how that man be our king. A strong wish to have more money, things, or power than you need ( Ambitions ). Whenever an application addresses a memory location that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault occurs, giving the operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred page, transfer its content over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the application can continue. A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed programs based on message passing primitives is much harder than being able to use shared memory for communication. Efficiency of DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what you do, page transfers across the network need to take place. • 39. Symbolism In A Young Goodman Brown Nathaniel Hawthorne creates a story based around real events that took place during the seventeenth century. Goodman Brown is exposed to the real world and what may be the true identity of the people around him. After seeing the truth, Goodman Brown does not know who he can truly trust. Although Brown loves his wife and is strong in his faith, he begins to question himself and everything around him. This story is written with foreshadowing, symbolism, and point of view. In the story, A Young Goodman Brown , Nathanial Hawthorne uses true events to portray how life can sometimes be confusing and a lie. Nathanial Hawthorn was born on July 4th 1804 and he died on May 19th 1864. His home life helped him create this great story. His father died and left him and his siblings with his stepmother. Nathanial took life events and created a beautiful story making people question do you really know a person. This story really never tells if the vision Goodman Brown has is true or just a nightmare. Many of the characters have small roles that are very significant to the end of the story. Nathanial s characters are flat, with little to no detail. The information given about the characters was not a great amount. Faith is one of the first characters shown in the short story. • 40. Essay about How the Media Uses an Ideal Victim in... In recent years, the subject of crime has become an increasingly important theme of political, academic, and public debate. In particular, the media today is more focused on victims than it has ever been before. Through media representations of the ideal victim , this essay will subsequently show how the media are able to construct and re affirm pre existing traditional ideologies within the public realm. In effect, this assignment will critically assess the concept of an ideal victim and show how the media have used this when describing crime. In reference to the media s role, they have been highlighted for playing a part in maintaining these views by portraying victims in a certain way according to the newsworthiness of each story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims could be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate crime such as racism or homophobia. In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless, some clichéd views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986) describes the idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of being a victim. Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable and worthy of help, sympathy and attention. Walklate (2005) used the fairytale of little red riding hood to illustrate the ideal victim ; young, innocent, female out doing good deeds only to be attacked by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the agricultural nature of the valley, ploughed fields and crops are likely; therefore parts of the walk may be muddy. The village stands on the steep, southern slopes of Castle Hill and its name derives from the Celtic word creig meaning crag or rock. There has been a settlement here since at least AD 685, when Ecgfrith, King of Northumbria gave Crayke, together with all the land within a three mile radius, to St Cuthbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne. Shortly afterwards, St Cuthbert established a monastery, adjacent to the site of the present castle, which survived until Danish marauders destroyed it towards the end of the ninth century. ... • 42. Social Media Censorship In America Social media censorship has a big impact on American society where there s been a lot of control over what someone can post on the internet. The companies have created strict policies towards what people can post and a lot of the users are not happy. The big problem is that social media companies have too much power with censoring what people say and read, which is limiting people s freedom of speech and I don t believe that companies should censor a lot of the things people post in social media unless is something bad that can harm someone. Companies find ways to censor people s media post either because they believe it can hurt a country s image or they believe others wouldn t like it. When it comes to social media everyone believes they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People only think that this mostly happens in the United states but it happens all around the world such as Venezuela, Hungary, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, etc. In Venezuela they are super strict with the censorship that The government has passed legislation limiting press freedom, restricted access to public information, levied fines and taxes on media companies... The government had gotten so strict that they would use violence to those who posted bad things about the country or do something else that could stop the user from posting. In 2014, Venezuela had a problem where a violent clash between the police and protesters burst, where the protesters were standing up because a crime on a provincial campus had happened, but it ended up causing a lot of violence. People started posting pictures of dead and wounded people in twitter but twitter had blocked all the images. This shows that the government is trying to cover up the problems that was occurring in Venezuela because it can hurt how they look as a country and people can start to think this it is an unsafe place to live in. In the article Censorship in the social media it states, Diaz had posted to Facebook a short docudrama by a Venezuelan artist about the conditions of political prisoners.. But she notices soon after uploading the video had disappeared. She tried to re upload it, she got a message that the action was disallowed, but was given no further explanation. Censorship has gone far to the point that companies are just deleting the post with no explanation. That s a big problem because we need reasons to why they re getting rid of our post. If the companies are taking away the people s right of speech, meaning they can say whatever they feel like it, then they deserve at least an explanation to why it wasn t ... • 43. Pearl Harbor Inaccuracies Pearl Harbor is a love story film set in Pearl Harbor during World War II, but many inaccuracies are found throughout the film concerning the war. The film s depiction of the events and chronology of World War II are inaccurate. Details and the behaviors of characters during the war are also inaccurately portrayed, and certain emotions and messages are wanted to be conveyed by the director of the film, Michael Bay. Pearl Harbor inaccurately depicts the true chronology and events of World War II. For starters, the crop duster biplane shown in the beginning shot was not commercially available until the late 30 s, and crop dusting was not a profession until after the end of the war. Analysis Of To Kill A Mockingbird And The Death Of Innocence In both the novels To Kill a Mockingbird, by Lee Harper, and The Death of Innocence, by Mamie Till Mobley, a parallel is evident between the themes of the works, as well as, their courageous characters. The fictional character Atticus Finch describes fortitude with stating It s when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what ( Lee 112). His ideals and fearless persona show similarities to that of Mamie Till Mobley, who, in The Death of Innocence, fights for the civil rights movement after her son is murdered. If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto insurance than other citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address. Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday. Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance is regulated at the state level. Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner. Insurance companies are penalizing good drivers by hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic and social status, and the end result is that the poor pay more, much more. Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for consumers. They are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status, ownership of a car during prior six months, and marital status. The CFA found that drivers with the same driving ... How can we know that our water is safe? Well, yearly groundwater tests should be taken. Even if they are expensive; it is better to pay the small amount now, than having to pay millions of dollars for the health expenses of people later. There is a huge chance that chromium could be in our water; chromium is a chemical that is used extensively by different industries. Chromium 6 (Hexavalent Chromium) in our water is a dangerous to have, but if it is reduced to Chromium 3, it becomes a nutrient. Research in the 1980 s and early 1990 s has been done in making this reduction of Chromium 6 to Chromium 3. However, it was also a very expensive process and it was at times ineffective. This is done by installing a series of pumping wells, extract the water from the aquifer, and treat it with techniques previously developed for surface waters, this was the pump and treat method.
