During The Romantic Era, Civil Rights Movements Began To
During the Romantic Era, civil rights movements began to gain strength. Through various methods,
advocates of such causes garnered support and brought attention to perceived problems in the
status of various peoples. Poetry was one of these methods, but the specifics of its implementation,
from appeals to literary devices, varied. Washing Day by Anna Lutita Barbauld used emotions and
imagery to support women s rights, but The Negro s Complaint, an abolitionist poem by Cowper,
focused on ethics to sway its readers.
The purpose of Washing Day is evident by the first stanza; Barbauld indicates that the poem focuses
on the struggles wives face during washing day with the lines Come, Muse, and sing the dreaded
washing day/ Ye who beneath... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same manner as the rain, the husbands are portrayed as major inconveniences worsening an
already miserable day. The narrator describes the women s apprehension of their husbands coming
with more demands such as sewing their stockings to accomplish this (Barbauld 33 40). With these
descriptions, Barbauld paints the men as one of the causes of the wives sadness.
In the later stanzas of the poem, the narrator switches to her own perspective as a child watching
the women go through the motions of washing day. Her naivety and ignorance strengthen
Barbauld s emotional appeal by providing a contrast to earlier descriptions of the wives view,
but this perspective s odd similarity to the men s own makes the strongest impact on the reader.
As the women worked, the narrator sought affection and food as she would on any other day;
she didn t understand why her mother and the other women brushed her aside in favor of
working (Barbauld 58 65). Since she was a child, to her, the day was the same as any other. As
she listened to her mother urge haste in the chores, she wondered as to the purpose of washing
day (Barbauld 74 79). The ending lines capture the purpose of these stanzas: The sports of
children and the toils of men/ Earth, air, and sky, and ocean, hath its bubbles/ And verse is one of
them this most of all (Barbauld 84 86). Per these lines, everything from the works of men to the
play of children seems to have value, but the labor of women doesn t in the

How The Family Is Problematic From The Historical Perspective
Explain and discuss why the definition of the family is problematic from the historical perspective.
The family form I am going to be defining is the nuclear and with reference to the historical
perspective I will attempt to explain why this definition is problematic. Within this discussion I will
also explore whether the nuclear family is a natural family form or whether it is a socially
constructed one. According to Munice et al (1995; 10) the nuclear family is a small unit produced
from the conjugal heterosexual couple and their biological children. The nuclear family unit share a
common residence and are united by their ties of affection, common identity and support.
Historical research has shown that there have been many different family forms in the past that did
not necessarily fit the nuclear definition of the family. There are four main approaches to consider
when talking about the history of the family. These approaches help show the significant changes
that have occurred in the family . The four approaches are the: demographic, economic, sentiments
and the legal and institutional approaches. The demographic approach measures the statistical
patterns of the family . Statistics taken from parish records and censuses enable us to see how
family households have changed over time. The average household size has been relatively stable
and stayed at 4.75 persons per household between the sixteenth century and the end of the
nineteenth century. These households

The independent Center for Immigration Studies said, in January 2000 there were 7 million illegal
aliens living in the United States and the center estimated that number to grow by half a million a

from, undocumented immigrants, Drug Dealers, illegal weapons and contraband entering the
United States, they collaborate with U.S. Customs and Law enforcement to protect the boarder.
The U.S. Customs and Law enforcement who is within the Department of Homeland Security is

combat any illegal entries or alien smuggling at the border. Their focus is to protect the U.S. border,
which has been in place by Department of Homeland Security ever since September 11, terrorist

illegal entries of illegal aliens into the United States they to work together with the other

Social Disorganization Theory Of Crime In Urban Area
Jack Mort did not have a good relationship with his parents and grew up in a poor neighborhood.
This can help explain why he became a criminal. Social disorganization theory concludes that those
who come from impoverished neighborhoods are more likely to commit crime. The social bond
theory states that those with low levels of commitment, attachment, involvement, and beliefs are
more likely to commit crime. Social disorganization theoryhas mostly been used to explain crime
in urban areas. Roh (2008) wanted to see if this theorycan be used to explain crime in suburban
areas. This study hypothesizes that suburban areas will be the same as urban areas when it comes
to crime indicators. The indicators tested in this theory are poverty, heterogeneity, residential
mobility and family disruption. In this study, they used calls to the police by citizens as their
measure of crime. They analyzed the calls for service of four different cities in Texas that were
broken up into 55 separate block groups. Poverty, heterogeneity, and family disruption all had a
positive correlation with the amount of crime in these suburban blocks. Poverty had the strongest
correlation. Residential mobility was the only factor that did not correctly predict crime. Their
findings, except for their results on residential mobility, support the social disorganization theory s
assumptions. Barton (2010) tested the social disorganization theory on college campuses. The study

Methods of Observation. Level 3 Diploma in Children and...
METHODS OF OBSERVATION
Narrative/free description/written record or running record
A running record is a very detailed description of the behaviour of a child over a short period of
time, often less than five minutes. The observer watches a child or group of children and note
down everything he sees, which gives the portrait of the child and his activity during this particular
period of time.
The observer sits quietly and tries not to draw attention to him as his interaction may affect the
behaviour of the child. It helps to avoid eye contact!
These observations usually cover a short period of time are written in the present tense because you
record things as they happen. Sticky note could be use to jot down the information.

The aggressive behaviour might include hitting, biting, scratching, and verbal abuse or temper
tantrum.
The advantages of event sample are very important, they give us very precise data, when the data
has been collected the data is very accessible. One very important advantage is that it can reveal
unexpected patterns and behaviour.
The disadvantages of event sample are that when the child is observed it is very difficult not to be
noticed this by the child this is turn may give false results. Another main disadvantage is observing
a child may be very difficult at times, the observer may lose concentration therefore not able to log
all the details.
Anecdotal
Narrative of descriptive paragraph recorded after the behaviour occurs.
An anecdote is a story. In reality when the child is being observed its like telling a story when
and what happens. It is a very difficult thing to do but the data collected is very important to child
psychologists, all the data collected is normally in the past the When used for observing; it is a
story about a child s behaviour.
Anecdotes are the most commonly used tool in gathering information about children.
One of the main reasons for this is because they are quick to record. It is a good idea to carry a
notebook and pen with you at all times. Quickly jot down some brief notes to jog your memory.

The Four Evangelists
Out of the four Evangelists, I find Mark to be the most intriguing. Not because he had the first
gospel to be composed, but his drive and affection for Jesus. I will be discussing the play
Everyman and how Mark s purpose to encourage a group undergoing difficult trials and
persecutions correlates with the play both philosophically and aesthetically. Everyman summarizes
that every person will be asked about their sins and good deeds. Mark on the other hand (also
Matthew), both say the same thing about Jesus when he s resurrected. My God, my God, why have
you forsaken me? (Just). This shows that Mark was very big on salvation. He wanted people who
committed sins in his community to be rectified by Christ. This is why he says those seven... Show

His first words correlates yet contradicts in what Everyman says because it s like a moral
allegory (Fiero, pg. 3). Everyman basically wants all Christian souls to be petrified of
resurrection, but they want them to repent while Mark looks at it in a much more optimistic
way. He not only wants them to repent, but wants them to be ready for the return of Christ.
Persevere in faith despite suffering; follow Jesus on the way to the cross; be ready for his return
(Just). Although Mark showed lots of love and devotion towards Christ, he s the only evangelist
to describe his agony and tragic death. He viewed Jesus as Gods persecuted one because of him
dying and feeling abandoned (PBS). The lion with wings symbolizes the Evangelical Mark. This
not only shows his bravery, but why he would fit inevitably in Everyman. It s only for strong
Christian believers like Mark, but, of course, there are many more strong believers. Throughout
Everyman you see the Christians repeat the same thing which is repenting to God for their sins.
Mark although who encourages people to repent doesn t say it as often, but often mentions people
committing good sins. They re very similar it s just that Everyman believes more in repenting to
God and Mark believes more into doing good deeds for

Uniform style helps us scan articles quickly for key points and findings. Rules of style in scientific
writing encourage full disclosure of essential information and allow us to dispense with minor
distractions.
Style helps us: * express the key elements of quantitative results, * choose the graphic form that
will best suit our analyses, * report critical details of our research protocol, and * Describe
individuals with accuracy and respect.
When we use an editorial style, we remove the distraction of puzzling over the correct punctuation
for a reference or the proper form for numbers in text. Those elements are codified in the rules we
follow for clear communication, allowing us to focus our intellectual energy on the substance of
our research (Foreword, Public Manual of American Psychological Association 6th ed., p. xiii).
An author writing for a publication must follow the rules established by the publisher to avoid
inconsistencies among journal articles or book chapters. For example, without rules of style, three
different manuscripts might use sub test, subtest, and Subtest in one issue of a journal or book.

Customs And Courtesies Of The Air Force
Customs and courtesies go back all the way to the to the beginning of the Air Force and well
beyond. Customs and courtesies are how people show respect to others as well as objects such as
the American flag. Through out Detachment 630 s cadet wing we show customs and courtesies in
many ways. Some examples of these include: saluting higher ranking cadets and also the cadre
members, reporting in while going to a meeting with cadre members, and calling POC, cadre, and
others that work in the detachment sir or ma am. Although we do preform some customs and
courtesies in the wing overall I believe they still need improvement. There are many things we don

When Did Scotland Become Independent Essay
Since 1970 Scotland has held two referendums which have each time given them a little more
independence and/or power. On September 18th 2014 they had a third hoping this time to break
away from Great Britain and become its own country. Anyone who is a Scottish citizen living in
Scotland 16 and older could vote to make Scotlanda free country. Originally Scotland had a very
weak economy around 20 years ago but it has slowly strengthened every year since then. This has
made people who are anti independence and the UK admit that Scotland could survive on its own
now with its improved economy (ASCHERSON, 2014). The economy is just one reason Scotland
wants to break away. Englandlately has been making laws and policies that Scotland disagrees
with. Also Scotland doesn t feel as united with England and the rest of the UK as it once did.
Slowly Scotland has been becoming more focused on their own country and not England or Great
Britain as a whole.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part it was projected that Scotland would not vote for independence but it was very
close. Close to election time yes overtook no a few times but people still thought Scotland would
stay with the UK (theweek.co.uk, 2014). That s what some people thought but in reality everyone
figured they would have to wait until the vote. Each side was very passionate over their opinion
over what should be the outcome.
People voting for independence had their reasons for doing so. They believed that now that
Scotland s economy was strong enough now that they could survive on their own. Also if they
broke away they might get rid of the monarchy because a good percentage of Scotts are republican
and want democracy (theweek.co.uk, 2014). If Scotland were to become independent and didn t get
rid of the monarchy then the queen would become the head of state. This has already occurred in

Comparing The Uffizi In Florence And Liverpool s Town Hall
The two building I decided to compare were The Uffizi in Florence and Liverpool s Town Hall.
The Uffizi, built by Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti in 1580 in a pre industrial Florence,
was primarily built to house the offices of thirteen Florentine magistrates and guilds in one place ,
and from this position they would have had authority over the entire Republic of Florence. Whereas
the Town Hall built from 1749 1754, during the industrial revolution, was designed by John
Wood , but was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century, adding a dome and south facing portico
to the existing building. It served a variety of functions, including the Mayor s Courtroom and a
customs warehouse. Since 1952 it has been a grade 1 listed building , referred to as one of the
finest surviving 18th century town halls . Unlike the Uffizi, the Town Hall, only had authority
over the local area and people. However this allowed them to have more control over people s daily
lives. The Uffizi, Florence (2016) Liverpool Town Hall (2016)

Cultural Impact Of The Beatles And Frank Zappa
In my thesis I would like to discuss both the Beatles and Frank Zappa and their cultural and
political impact on the Anglosphere. What the Beatles and Frank Zappa have meant for the people
during their musical career? What was their cultural legacy?
The Beatles are generally considered to be the best band in the history of popular music. This is
mainly due to the influence they had on other bands and musicians all over the world such as Billy
Joel, Nirvana, Oasis and many other. Songs with a similar style and sounding became known as
beatlesque.

Do you feel the color and heat of a blush coming on when a significant other gently whispers in
your ear, or perhaps you associate it with shame or displeasant of those of the past? The real
question that should be asked is why do you blush. Considering that you are reading this you are
probably of the human race. In animals this trait is hard to find even in our close primate like
cousins. Through research it can be suggested that humans adapted the act of blushing for
several reasons, and it may also appear to be a side effect of something bigger. Of these possible
reasons are to cue a point or alert others of a social experience that had just occurred, be due to
extreme pressure during exercise, or even sadly a side effect of being... Show more content on

We all know that we blush in our faces, but we also blush through several other parts of our
body. Following what was said earlier in the above paragraph blood vessels when we encounter
strong emotions and prepare to do something tedious. However, there is a distinct difference
difference between the blush that occurs when exercising and experiencing the blush which
comes with psychological issues. When you exercise, you are obviously going to exert your
body for an extended period of time. Humans have been able to change the flow of blood which
may very well help them be more effective in their current activity. We take the blood that was
flowing to organs such as the stomach and so on and move them to the muscles that we are
currently using. We appear a brighter color of red due to the increase of blood flow to the
muscles that are receiving blood closer to the surface of the skin. This may happen around our
arms, legs, torso, neck, and especially our face. Moving on to the possible side of our
psychological blushing, it happens for two main reasons. We enter into a mode that was
programed into us since the day we were born. It is the fight or flight theory. Similar to
exercising but more to the extreme. This is the idea that when we are under extreme stress that
we either confront (fight) the point of our stress, or move away (run) from it. We enter a state
like earlier explained when we move blood from our organs to our muscles. The reason there is a
difference between the two is how far it could possibly go on. We humans obviously know when
to stop exercising even when we get rushes of adrenaline. When we go into the fight or flight mode
we have such a large amount of adrenaline that we tend to forget the huge amount of stress our
organs are under going. While we do show signs of high amounts of blushing, it isn t all beauty.
With the huge amount of stress you

Romanticism And Realism In The Boarded Window By Ambrose...
The beautiful iridescent blue Morpho butterfly has survived in the deep tropical forest due to its
underside resembling the big eyes of a predator. Blue Morphos appear to have a supernatural
ability to portray themselves as something they are not. Their indistinguishable differences trick
the senses of the enemy. Close examination of their large brown scary predator eyes show they
are ordinary simple butterflies. There is also a similar misunderstanding in the short story by
Ambrose Bierce. When looking close the story becomes clear. After considering both the slice
of the life of Realism and the supernatural of Romanticism movement, the short story The
Boarded Window by Ambrose Bierce is an example of Realism because it shows a life of a
uneducated ordinary man. Realism comes closer to understanding the life of an uneducated
ordinary man because it shows a slice of what real life was like on the frontier. Murlock lived in
a simple log house made with one door and one window. The latter, however, was boarded up
nobody could remember a time when it was not. Very few people knew the secret of the window,
or the particulars of the burden the man bore. The grandfather had lived nearby and relayed the
story firsthand of the story behind the uneducated ordinary man s life. Bierce portrays this actual
life of this ordinary man that shows life as it is, with Murlock s ups and downs, that sometimes he
had to shut out the things that could harm him. Suddenly the table shook beneath his arms, and at
the same moment he heard, or fancied that he heard, a light soft step another sounds as of bare

laid her onto the table to attempted to prepare her her body for burial. He methodically dad what he
thought was the order of natural laws. He performed the finishing touches adjusting her hair.
Exhausted, he laid his head on the table and drifted. The author presents this authentic real situation
of a unschooled man that had to face typical fearful days out in the wilderness. Although some

Cognitive Stage Of Middle Childhood Development
Family Dynamics Anthony Darey Argosy University Cognitive Stage of Middle Childhood The
1970 s was my era of middle childhood development. This was still a time of turmoil and racial
inequality. Being a black child gave me few advantages growing up during this time. I attended
decent schools, lived in a middle class neighborhood, and was socially active. I was a nerd, but
not in the best sense of the word. I was smart but I was lazy. School was boring to me. I knew the
work, but I did not want to do the work. This fact was related back to my parents via my teachers
( grades 6th 8th). My nickname was Tony but I was pinned as the Professor by my family. Like I
said, I knew the work I just did not do the work. The nickname made me feel good and bad at the
same time. I liked the acknowledgement that I was being recognized for being smart but I hated
the fact that I was also expected to live up to the nickname. This was also the beginning of a state
of confusion and asserting my independence. Discovering just who I was and in what direction
my life was going. (Erikson, 1968) Today I don t consider myself the same way. I pat myself on
the back when I do a good job, but when I do poorly I kick myself in the butt. The difference now
is I care one way or the other about the outcome. I was brought up in an authoritative environment,

Rock †N Roll And Its Impact On Society. Music Is Ever...
Rock n Roll and Its Impact On Society
Music is ever changing. It moves at such a rapid pace people may not want to catch up to. The
one genre that seems to have changed the most is Rock and Roll . In a world of classical opuses,
big bands, and vocal jazz, rock was a huge shock to the world. It was revolutionary, but sometimes
unwanted. No matter, rock and roll has played a substantial part in defining our modern culture,
influencing things like individual music taste, political views, and personal expression.
A History of Rock n Roll Rock s deep influence over people is greatly affected by its intriguing
history. The rock movement itself, has been embraced and criticized since it began. From its roots

Artists like Chuck Berry (including Muddy Waters, Little Richard, and Fats Domino) were more
accepted once rock and roll was welcomed by growing audiences. This gave talented artists of
different races a greater chance of having their voices and music heard (America Rocks, 2016).
The 1950 s. As this new form of music started moving into mainstream media in the 1950 s, Elvis
Presley entered the scene. Before Elvis, young women weren t often caught listening to rock and
roll, but once they heard his voice and saw his shaking hips, he was all they listened to. Because
of Elvis, the rock and roll industry boomed (Wallace, 2012). He paved the way for other artist to

Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, and The Who graced the American nation and sent
shocks throughout the world, Britain owned the sixties (Puterbaugh, 1988), in what is called The

rhythm and blues, sixties rock was packed with raw emotion and controversial subject matter. It

Essay about Progressivism
Progressivism implies a philosophy which welcomes innovations and reforms in the political,
economic, and social order. The Progressive movement, 1901 to 1917, was ultimately the triumph
of conservatism rather than a victory for liberalism. In a general sense, the conservative goals of
this period justified the Liberal reforms enacted by
Progressive leaders. Deviating from the traditional definition of conservatism (a resistance to
change and a disposition of hostility to innovations in the political, social, and economic order), the
Conservatist triumph was in the sense that there was an effort to maintain basic social and
economic relations vital to a capitalist society. The
Progressive leaders essentially wanted to perpetuate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1902, the United Mine Workers were willing to submit to arbitration, but the coal operators
adamantly opposed any recognition of the union. Thus, the union members decided to strike over
wages, safety conditions, and union recognition. The Anthracite Coal Strike of 1902 ended with the
appointment by Roosevelt of an arbitration commission to rule on the issues. Business men did not
regard politics (government regulation) as a necessary evil, but as an important part of their
position in society. Roosevelt did not see big business as evil, but a permanent development that
was necessary in a modern economy. Roosevelt couldn t rely on the courts to distinguish between
good or bad trusts. The only solution was for the executive to assume that responsibility.
Roosevelt s ingenious square dealings and gentlemen s agreements controlled many firms. In 1903,
a new cabinet position was created to address the concerns of business and labor (Department of
Commerce and Labor).
Within the department, the Bureau of Corporations was empowered to investigate and report on
illegal activities of corporations. The abuse of economic power by railroads proposed another
problem for Roosevelt. However, in 1903, the Elkins Act empowered the ICC (Interstate Commerce
Commission, first American federal regulatory agency) to act against

Cultural Relations Are Historically Filled With Conflict
Intra cultural relations are historically filled with conflict; and to deal with this conflict: Gloria
Anzaldua s concepts of opposing cultures and language barriers, John Locke s Equality theory, and
Kwame Anthony Appiah s global citizenship theory explores the issue and works towards better
relations. According to Anzaldua, people are not of one culture, but in several cases, several
clashing, distinct cultures. Anzaldua argues that language is part of our identity, and it is a barrier
between cultures, sometimes even our own. While Locke argues, we are all created equal, we may
not be treated equal. Once society can deal with these problems, it can move forward towards
Kwame Anthony Appiahs global citizenship theory. I do not fit in one box on a federal checklist,
I am of several cultures. My experience of listening to my Grandmother s stories made me
acutely aware of this fact. I am not just an American, I am a Mexican American. Living in the
Rio Grande Valley, I am part of this third country that Anzaldua calls the borderland (Anzaldua
Borderlands 1987, 3). In this third country where the third world grates against the first and
bleeds , the spilt blood creates a new country; an uneasy fusion of both cultures (Anzaldua
Borderlands 1987, 3). In my case I was born to a father from Mexicoand a mother from America, I

Themes In Inheritance Of Loss
Inheritance of loss, is a moving novel by Indian writer Kiran Desai, whereby we see the effect of
colonialism and post colonialism and the consequence that comes with it. Many critical themes are
explored, Leach lists them as colonialism, a revolution, multi ethnic nationhood and illegal
immigration in the US, where political allegiance impacts on love affairs, and where the reality of
life in a grubby New York basement reshapes the American Dream (2007). Desai mentions many of
these historical events in her novel that give us and insight view as to what was happening in the
inside, within the people of India, as opposed to only seeing the surface and elections going on.
Desai looks at the younger generation as being mainly affected by losing their identity to the
suppression of the Europeanized world. The novel is set in primarily in the 1980 s, but makes
mention of earlier times when the Congress Party was sparking up as well. These were crucial times

What Is The Implementation Of MFO To Solve Multi-Area...
In this thesis implementation of MFO to solve multi area economic dispatch problems is
presented. The practical nonlinear generator constrained like VPL and POZ along with tie lines
power flow constraints are also considered in this study. The results obtained by MFO are
compared with recently reported results to validate and to show superior performance for the
solution of MAED problems with different dimensions and complexity levels. It was established
that the MFO algorithm provides good solution in terms of convergence rate and optimum costwith
less number of control parameters. The MFO is found to be a promising approach for real world

The thesis has presented a new procedure for solving the Multi Area Economic Dispatch problem
using MFO algorithm. The procedure is shown to be very fast, robust, and extensible to include a
large class of utility problems.
3.6SUGGETION FOR FUTURE WORK
The MAED problem is much complex due to the practical operational constraints such as valve
point loading effect(VPL) ,prohibited operating zones (POZ) along with tie line power flow limit
constraints, which make the system highly nonlinear. Therefore it requires a powerful optimization
approach to solve these types of problems.
The project successfully applied MFO for the solution of classical MAED problem with security
consideration and without security consideration. The aims of the project were to introduce
renewable energy to a classical MAED problem and minimize the production costs while taking into
consideration the transmission lines, tie lines and bus voltage constraints. The proposed algorithm
was successfully tested on a five area system. Introduction of security aspects to the classical
MAED problem resulted in an increase in the total production cost of power.
Moth Flame optimization (MFO) Algorithm, is applied for constrained optimization and
engineering design problems. A comparative analysis of MFO algorithm expresses the optimum
functional value in term of accuracy and standard deviation over rest of well known constraint

Accomplice Liability and Criminal Liability Accomplice liability consents the court to find a
person or persons criminally liable for actions committed by another person. Criminal liability is
when a person is commits the crime or act and that he or she intent to commit the crime at that
moment. Sergeant Cotton was acquitted of all criminal charges against him in the criminal side.
However, the Robert and Marian Tolan felt that the lower court s decision was not fair. I do agree
with the Tolans. I believe that courts did not take the evidence that was present to them
inconsideration that Cotton was guilty. Cotton carelessly made an error on typing in the car tag
number that Robert Tolan and his cousin was driving. Since, he made that mistake he is
responsible criminal and civil. He should have been since to prison time and he should be

was found responsible in civil court.

Book Thief Themes
In times of war everything gets destroyed, from countries to lives to culture. Nothing is off limits
when someone is willing to go to the extreme to get what they want, no matter who they step on
on the way. In Markus Zusak s The Book Thief, readers see the effects of war on the small,
fictional town of Molching, Germany during World War
II, specifically on that of young Liesel
Meminger and her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Through the eyes of Death one can
relate the themes of war and the censorship of an overrun country with those of extremist groups
today who, years later, utilize some of the same methods of control in order to gain power.
In late June of 1975, Elisabeth and Helmut Zusak welcomed Markus, their fourth (and last) child
into the world. At the time, they had been living in Sydney, Australia, however, both had
emigrated from other countries. Both Lisa s native country of Germany and Helmut s native
country of Austria were a part of World War II at the time of their living there, which led them to
acquire stories that would later on inspire their son to write what is arguably his most lucrative
novel, The Book Thief. I grew up in Sydney, but when my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

CRITICAL PATH METHOD (CPM) TECHNIQUE
Critical Path Method has been extensively used for planning and scheduling construction work for
decades. As mentioned earlier, the study conducted by Tavakoli and Riachi (1990) results from

The first steps in building the CPM technique is the activity list. Activity is defined as a task that
consumes time and other resources for completing a project. For example, design and construct a

and safety training, transport logistics, types, quantities, resource size and administrative
procedures such as approval of drawing layout. The critical path method (CPM) is a scheduling
technique determined by duration. The primary inputs are the project activities, their estimated

Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray
Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and
fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons
conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio.
Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama.
Instead of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise en scГЁne to visually fill up the
screen, Ray uses close ups, single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen
in two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses
less on clotheslining actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology
of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence
towards the end of film is of paramount importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and
derangement that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that
Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated,
sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular
techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them
all. Throughout the film, Ray used close ups to show Ed s mental state; in this sequence, Ray
largely abandons that technique Ed s state of mind

hit until both the headlights were out. Gary stat there in shock stunned by what just happened. The
moose had toteled his truck and he was left in the freezing cold with no place to go within 5 miles.
He had to stick it out in his truck until help came the next

  • 2. During The Romantic Era, Civil Rights Movements Began To During the Romantic Era, civil rights movements began to gain strength. Through various methods, advocates of such causes garnered support and brought attention to perceived problems in the status of various peoples. Poetry was one of these methods, but the specifics of its implementation, from appeals to literary devices, varied. Washing Day by Anna Lutita Barbauld used emotions and imagery to support women s rights, but The Negro s Complaint, an abolitionist poem by Cowper, focused on ethics to sway its readers. The purpose of Washing Day is evident by the first stanza; Barbauld indicates that the poem focuses on the struggles wives face during washing day with the lines Come, Muse, and sing the dreaded washing day/ Ye who beneath... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the same manner as the rain, the husbands are portrayed as major inconveniences worsening an already miserable day. The narrator describes the women s apprehension of their husbands coming with more demands such as sewing their stockings to accomplish this (Barbauld 33 40). With these descriptions, Barbauld paints the men as one of the causes of the wives sadness. In the later stanzas of the poem, the narrator switches to her own perspective as a child watching the women go through the motions of washing day. Her naivety and ignorance strengthen Barbauld s emotional appeal by providing a contrast to earlier descriptions of the wives view, but this perspective s odd similarity to the men s own makes the strongest impact on the reader. As the women worked, the narrator sought affection and food as she would on any other day; she didn t understand why her mother and the other women brushed her aside in favor of working (Barbauld 58 65). Since she was a child, to her, the day was the same as any other. As she listened to her mother urge haste in the chores, she wondered as to the purpose of washing day (Barbauld 74 79). The ending lines capture the purpose of these stanzas: The sports of children and the toils of men/ Earth, air, and sky, and ocean, hath its bubbles/ And verse is one of them this most of all (Barbauld 84 86). Per these lines, everything from the works of men to the play of children seems to have value, but the labor of women doesn t in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How The Family Is Problematic From The Historical Perspective Explain and discuss why the definition of the family is problematic from the historical perspective. The family form I am going to be defining is the nuclear and with reference to the historical perspective I will attempt to explain why this definition is problematic. Within this discussion I will also explore whether the nuclear family is a natural family form or whether it is a socially constructed one. According to Munice et al (1995; 10) the nuclear family is a small unit produced from the conjugal heterosexual couple and their biological children. The nuclear family unit share a common residence and are united by their ties of affection, common identity and support. Historical research has shown that there have been many different family forms in the past that did not necessarily fit the nuclear definition of the family. There are four main approaches to consider when talking about the history of the family. These approaches help show the significant changes that have occurred in the family . The four approaches are the: demographic, economic, sentiments and the legal and institutional approaches. The demographic approach measures the statistical patterns of the family . Statistics taken from parish records and censuses enable us to see how family households have changed over time. The average household size has been relatively stable and stayed at 4.75 persons per household between the sixteenth century and the end of the nineteenth century. These households ... • 5. Social Disorganization Theory Of Crime In Urban Area Jack Mort did not have a good relationship with his parents and grew up in a poor neighborhood. This can help explain why he became a criminal. Social disorganization theory concludes that those who come from impoverished neighborhoods are more likely to commit crime. The social bond theory states that those with low levels of commitment, attachment, involvement, and beliefs are more likely to commit crime. Social disorganization theoryhas mostly been used to explain crime in urban areas. Roh (2008) wanted to see if this theorycan be used to explain crime in suburban areas. This study hypothesizes that suburban areas will be the same as urban areas when it comes to crime indicators. The indicators tested in this theory are poverty, heterogeneity, residential mobility and family disruption. In this study, they used calls to the police by citizens as their measure of crime. They analyzed the calls for service of four different cities in Texas that were broken up into 55 separate block groups. Poverty, heterogeneity, and family disruption all had a positive correlation with the amount of crime in these suburban blocks. Poverty had the strongest correlation. Residential mobility was the only factor that did not correctly predict crime. Their findings, except for their results on residential mobility, support the social disorganization theory s assumptions. Barton (2010) tested the social disorganization theory on college campuses. I will be discussing the play Everyman and how Mark s purpose to encourage a group undergoing difficult trials and persecutions correlates with the play both philosophically and aesthetically. Everyman summarizes that every person will be asked about their sins and good deeds. Mark on the other hand (also Matthew), both say the same thing about Jesus when he s resurrected. Anyone who is a Scottish citizen living in Scotland 16 and older could vote to make Scotlanda free country. The Uffizi, built by Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti in 1580 in a pre industrial Florence, was primarily built to house the offices of thirteen Florentine magistrates and guilds in one place , and from this position they would have had authority over the entire Republic of Florence. Whereas the Town Hall built from 1749 1754, during the industrial revolution, was designed by John Wood , but was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century, adding a dome and south facing portico to the existing building. It served a variety of functions, including the Mayor s Courtroom and a customs warehouse. Since 1952 it has been a grade 1 listed building , referred to as one of the finest surviving 18th century town halls . The real question that should be asked is why do you blush. Considering that you are reading this you are probably of the human race. In animals this trait is hard to find even in our close primate like cousins. Through research it can be suggested that humans adapted the act of blushing for several reasons, and it may also appear to be a side effect of something bigger. Of these possible reasons are to cue a point or alert others of a social experience that had just occurred, be due to extreme pressure during exercise, or even sadly a side effect of being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all know that we blush in our faces, but we also blush through several other parts of our body. Following what was said earlier in the above paragraph blood vessels when we encounter strong emotions and prepare to do something tedious. However, there is a distinct difference difference between the blush that occurs when exercising and experiencing the blush which comes with psychological issues. When you exercise, you are obviously going to exert your body for an extended period of time. Humans have been able to change the flow of blood which may very well help them be more effective in their current activity. We take the blood that was flowing to organs such as the stomach and so on and move them to the muscles that we are currently using. We appear a brighter color of red due to the increase of blood flow to the muscles that are receiving blood closer to the surface of the skin. This may happen around our arms, legs, torso, neck, and especially our face. Moving on to the possible side of our psychological blushing, it happens for two main reasons. We enter into a mode that was programed into us since the day we were born. It is the fight or flight theory. Similar to exercising but more to the extreme. This is the idea that when we are under extreme stress that we either confront (fight) the point of our stress, or move away (run) from it. We enter a state like earlier explained when we move blood from our organs to our muscles. The reason there is a difference between the two is how far it could possibly go on. We humans obviously know when to stop exercising even when we get rushes of adrenaline. When we go into the fight or flight mode we have such a large amount of adrenaline that we tend to forget the huge amount of stress our organs are under going. While we do show signs of high amounts of blushing, it isn t all beauty. With the huge amount of stress you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The beautiful iridescent blue Morpho butterfly has survived in the deep tropical forest due to its underside resembling the big eyes of a predator. Blue Morphos appear to have a supernatural ability to portray themselves as something they are not. Their indistinguishable differences trick the senses of the enemy. Close examination of their large brown scary predator eyes show they are ordinary simple butterflies. There is also a similar misunderstanding in the short story by Ambrose Bierce. When looking close the story becomes clear. After considering both the slice of the life of Realism and the supernatural of Romanticism movement, the short story The Boarded Window by Ambrose Bierce is an example of Realism because it shows a life of a uneducated ordinary man. Realism comes closer to understanding the life of an uneducated ordinary man because it shows a slice of what real life was like on the frontier. Murlock lived in a simple log house made with one door and one window. The latter, however, was boarded up nobody could remember a time when it was not. Very few people knew the secret of the window, or the particulars of the burden the man bore. The grandfather had lived nearby and relayed the story firsthand of the story behind the uneducated ordinary man s life. Many critical themes are explored, Leach lists them as colonialism, a revolution, multi ethnic nationhood and illegal immigration in the US, where political allegiance impacts on love affairs, and where the reality of life in a grubby New York basement reshapes the American Dream (2007). Desai mentions many of these historical events in her novel that give us and insight view as to what was happening in the inside, within the people of India, as opposed to only seeing the surface and elections going on. Desai looks at the younger generation as being mainly affected by losing their identity to the suppression of the Europeanized world. The novel is set in primarily in the 1980 s, but makes mention of earlier times when the Congress Party was sparking up as well. These were crucial times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thesis has presented a new procedure for solving the Multi Area Economic Dispatch problem using MFO algorithm. The procedure is shown to be very fast, robust, and extensible to include a large class of utility problems. 3.6SUGGETION FOR FUTURE WORK The MAED problem is much complex due to the practical operational constraints such as valve point loading effect(VPL) ,prohibited operating zones (POZ) along with tie line power flow limit constraints, which make the system highly nonlinear. Therefore it requires a powerful optimization approach to solve these types of problems. The project successfully applied MFO for the solution of classical MAED problem with security consideration and without security consideration. The aims of the project were to introduce renewable energy to a classical MAED problem and minimize the production costs while taking into consideration the transmission lines, tie lines and bus voltage constraints. The proposed algorithm was successfully tested on a five area system. Introduction of security aspects to the classical MAED problem resulted in an increase in the total production cost of power. Nothing is off limits when someone is willing to go to the extreme to get what they want, no matter who they step on on the way. In Markus Zusak s The Book Thief, readers see the effects of war on the small, fictional town of Molching, Germany during World War II, specifically on that of young Liesel Meminger and her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Through the eyes of Death one can relate the themes of war and the censorship of an overrun country with those of extremist groups today who, years later, utilize some of the same methods of control in order to gain power. In late June of 1975, Elisabeth and Helmut Zusak welcomed Markus, their fourth (and last) child into the world. At the time, they had been living in Sydney, Australia, however, both had emigrated from other countries. Both Lisa s native country of Germany and Helmut s native country of Austria were a part of World War II at the time of their living there, which led them to acquire stories that would later on inspire their son to write what is arguably his most lucrative novel, The Book Thief. • 39. Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise en scГЁne to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses close ups, single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on clotheslining actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of paramount importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them all.
