The Problem With 24 Hour News
Dustin Wisby English II Ms. Stewart 9 21 2014 The Problem with 24 Hour News biasness of each
During any breaking news segment on any 24 hour news coverage channel there seems to always be
problems and mistakes that are made by reporters for not having the correct information on the story.
Also when there is no significant stories to report on there seems to be a cycle of information that each
news channel tries to throw at you. Examples of this would be presidential stories, repeating stories
over and over, and so on. Just imagine if one had to have something to say constantly about anything
and everything they could find. Would that not get annoying listening to one person speak all day
every day about anything they could find. So why do we have these problems and is it even good for
the people of the United States to have twenty four hour news channels? At the beginning of television
news an arrangement existed between television journalists and the public. It was look at as that in
modern times promotion journalism was normal. The United States was the modern, broadminded
leader of the free world. When Walter Cronkite reported on the daily count of deaths of American
soldiers in Vietnam, in lead to the antiwar disapprovals of the 1960s. One man changed how the
United States look at the war with his power and influence to change people opinions. (Mann) With
rise of CNN, the first 24 Hour News, in the early 1980s continued practice of promotion journalism.

Dr. Phil Mcgraw s Relationship Rescue
Relationship Rescue
In Dr. Phil McGraw s Relationship Rescue , Dr. Phil uses a combination of personal advice,
experience and reader participation to provide help to those who feel their relationship is failing.
Throughout the book, Dr. Phil strongly encourages the reader to actively engage by writing down their
feelings, answering very personal questions about themselves and their significant other, and to put
motion into your emotion. Meaning take action, and if you re emotionally unhappy, it is time to
physically do something about it. The author is eager to successfully help couples put their
relationships back together and allow it to thrive in new ways. Throughout the book, Dr. Phil McGraw
proves that even though he sometimes prompted difficult and uncomfortable conversations,
communication was and always will be one of the most important elements of a relationship.
In the first and second chapter of Relationship Rescue, Dr. Phil s main focus is you (the reader) then
moving forward to the relationship. He claims that Rescuing your relationship means rescuing you.
The point here is to help the reader understand that in order to be happy in their relationship, they need
to be happy with themselves first. He explains that if you get yourself straight you re creating a
happier lifestyle, and by doing this your partner will be seriously affected. Explaining that even
though you cannot change your partner, your actions could potentially inspire them. Dr. Phil

Patriotism and Its Meaning Essay
Patriotism and Its Meaning
In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States we are seeing many
forms of Patriotism. I was suprised to find when I researched this word that it had a negative feeling
associated with it. I believe that patriotism is actively showing your support for your country, standing
up for what you believe in, and fighting for our individual free will and independence.
I am proud of my country and I am not ashamed to fly the American Flag. Many men and women
have died to give me the freedoms that I take for granted. I applaud their patriotism, and I thank them
for giving me my way of life. I will support them in protecting my country. I will try to elect officials

I hope that you, as an American citizen will learn about your government and actively support it, by
voting, writing your congressmen, and making a difference for peace.
In standing up for what I believe in, I will not be ignorant of other people. I can be assertive in my
beliefs without trying to impose them on my fellow citizens. America stands for diversity and to have
patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do
not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little
spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some
particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings
inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill
and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for
fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do.
We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people
would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early
Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would
do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. When I am deciding what I think of

Essay on Partisan elections
Partisan Elections
In the following essay I will be talking about the disadvantages and advantages of partisan elections
for state politics. I will also examine the last couple year s election results and costs. Finally, I will
discuss if partisanship made a difference in the vote, as well as if a judge should be decided by
partisan vote. In the next couple paragraphs I will talk more specifically about these topics.
First, let s talk about the advantages of partisan elections compared to nonpartisan elections. It makes
voting a lot faster because the people can just go to either democrat, republican or independent
column. They do not have to go through a big list of candidates ... Show more content on

Secondly, I will now talk about the disadvantages of having a partisan election. First, partisan
elections cost a lot more money than nonpartisan elections, because in nonpartisan elections you do
not have to campaign. The voters must do their own research on the candidates and makes the voter
actually think and know why they are going to vote. A bad thing about this though would be time. Not
everybody has time to go out and do research on candidates, because most people work eight or more
hour shifts at work and then they do not want to go out and do research. Another disadvantage would
be I think there is too much information out there for the candidates, which ends up confusing the
voter instead of benefiting. This makes it harder when coming to vote, so many people will just mark
anything because they do not care. These would be one the biggest disadvantages of partisan elections
to me in state politics.
I will now examine some of last election year s results. Voter turnout has decreased in the past years.
There are two main factors that have been coming up in the past years. First, many citizens say that
who is elected in office is not as important as it once was. Secondly, younger Americans are more
cynical and disconnected from politics than ever. I think there is too much information out there and
another thing that might be the reason this is happening is

Apocryphal Gospels Research Paper
Apocryphal Gospels ...are those which the Church did not accept as part of the genuine apostolic
tradition, even though they themselves claim to have been written by one of the apostles ( What Are
the Canonical and the Apocryphal Gospels? How Many Are There? ). The word apocryphal originally
was translated to mean secret and would later become to mean heretical . Apocryphal writings started
very early in the history of the church with their main purpose serving to fill in the early details of
Jesus life that had not been provided in the other gospels. While there is no exact number for how
many Apocryphal Gospels exist, it is known that the number possibly exceeds fifty ( What Are the

it was definitely a real learning experience. As nurse and future BSN, we find it is imperative to
educate the audience in the community by using a poster board with normal and abnormal values for
cholesterol, blood pressure, body ideal mass index, diabetes and associate risk. We had the opportunity

My Experience And The Otpf
Considering my experience and the OTPF, I believe that all occupations are affected to an extent.
Depending on the person and the mental illness some areas of concern is, ADL s, IADL s, work,
leisure, social participations and sleep. The mental illness population will struggle with social
participation, withdrawing from their family, friends and their peers. They will experience difficulty
functioning at school or work, leading to them dropping out of school or losing their job, possibly due
to problems with memory and thinking. I think for some, if not most of the population they start
feeling disconnected from reality. I think other areas of concern are sleep, eating, and hygiene habits,
for example, they may struggle with gathering necessary supplies for bathing and washing their hair.
One of the things I witnessed at ETBH is the amount of clients admitted with drug or alcohol abuse,
which can lead to a continuous pattern because it makes them feel better and the symptoms dissipate
for a short time. Which can also lead to mood changes and thoughts of suicide. The mental illness
population can struggle in any one of these occupations or multiple areas, maybe due to a lack of
motivation or lack of structure in their everyday lives. People with mental illness struggle with how
they may think, feel, mood swings, and their behavior. It affects their ability to relate to others and
function in daily occupations. From what I have witnessed, what is important and has meaning to

Research Paper On Jack The Ripper
Over a hundred and twenty five years later Jack the Ripper, a murderer from the East End of London,
who has yet to be found and more than likely to be dead by now, still rings bells of interest as well as
terror all over the world. His case is known as The Whitechapel Murders, and has yet to be solved.
During the era in which Ripper was active, there were eleven murders committed in London; however,
the Ripper is only believed to be directly responsible for five of these victims ( The Whitechapel
Murder Victims ). Although his well known name has rung bells for over a century, many still
question how he has remained so famous in the first place. Understandably so, since unquestionably
there have been more massive serial killers since Rippers era, being that Rippers accreditation is only
to five victims killed within a twelve or so week period. On the other hand, to understand why Ripper
is still so famous, it is essential to understand his killings beyond the surface. It is not just how many
he murdered, but where he killed, the name for which he became known as, and the simple fact that
people still want answers.
Understanding where the Ripper killed and why it plays such an important role in his case is the first
part of going beyond the surface. Many know that Jack the Ripper is a murderer from the East End of
London, who killed near Whitechapel Road, that as valid as it is, remains only a simple fact. People
fail to realize there is more to the story than that.

The Realm Of Organizational Change And Development Essay
In the realm of organizational change and development there is a standard model that is considered
among most organizational development professionals to be the basic format for planned changed
known as the General Model of planned Change. Essentially what organizational development
professionals are dealing with is almost exclusively centered around planned change. That same type
of planned change was present within the Sunflower Incorporated Company which started their
planned change initiative in early 1989. The technology that the company was looking to change was
the financial reporting system in order to have a new system that is able to compare sales, cost, and
profit margins on a regional basis. The company decided to open a new position that was specifically
targeted at maximizing the performance of the companies financial goals and they hired a new pricing
manager by the name of Agnes Albanese who was in charge of conducting the internal price
management initiative. While her ideas were perceived positively among the internal executive groups
as a whole there was some pushback on the new pricing format. In Mrs. Albanese attempt to make the
financial department more efficient and decided that all pricing and purchasing decisions should be
made on standardized across all regions of the organization. Secondly, she mandated that all local
price increases higher than 3 percent must also be approved through her and any contracts of local

Theories of Ageing The Disengagement Theory: This theory claims that it is natural and normal for
the elder to detach from personal relationships and society as they age and withdraw from the roles

The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program
On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that effectively discontinued the
film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will keep the Michigan Film Office for the time
being, this is a major hit to a budding film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to
attract the production of Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was
intact include Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Transformers franchise. In a news release
concerning the new legislation, Governor Snyder noted that the while the program will no be active,
Michigan still has much to offer to the film industry. The states film office will continue to assist those

He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the
discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many
beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may
view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs
support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based
system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in
response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One
filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as
artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was
right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states
key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any
state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. The entertainment
industry, is one of the key ways to do so. In the reading The Great Convention Center Bailout, this is
exampled. The author states It s no surprise then that cities compete so fiercely for business. The

Marva Collins Case Study
Educators require just books, a board, and a couple of legs that will last the day, Marva Collins told
Dan Hurley in 50 Plus magazine. These three things were basically all that Collins had when she

a long time, Collins chose to leave and open a school that would welcome understudies who had been

number of kids go through an insufficient educational system in which they were given indifferent
instructors, some of whom came to class artificially debilitated.

Parents Lying to Their Children About Fictional Characters
Parents give constant reminders to their children about how lying is misbehaving and unacceptable,
but parents have been lying or have lied to them for a long period of time. In a 2009 study of
American parents, 78 percent of parents admitted to lying to their children. Another study, executed by
Gail Heyman of the University of California San Diego and her colleagues, found that 84 percent of
the 114 American parents they chose admitted to telling their children lies to promote behavioral
obedience (Smith Is It Okay for Parents to Lie to Their Kids? China s Parents Say Yes 2013). These
behavioral lies, along with tradition, bring about fictional characters to convince the children that if
they comply, they will be rewarded; for example, children must behave year round or Santa will not

ridiculous lies about fictional characters existing to their children.

The Growth Of A Entrepreneur

entrepreneur is someone who is willing to take risks or opportunities to launch their own business

China, a continent with around 1.4 billion people have other countries looking because of their
economy. Currently, China s economy is known to be one of the largest manufacturers, merchandise
exporter and importer, but also a holder of foreign exchange (CIA,2016). The success happened
through gradual economic reforms, opening up new businesses, continuously improving their
economic structures, but also being able to invest in a lot of corporate companies (Yang,2016).
However this wasn t the only thing that made China successful there has been a long history in which
China was able to achieve this title today. From the early 1970 s, China s economy was solely based
on cheap labor, agriculture, but also rural industries (CIA,2016). This market strategy allowed China s
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to raise in double figures, and due to the rise in GDP figures the
national poverty rate decreased by 679 million people (Yang,2016). Rural industries have been the
main contributor to the advancement of the Chinese economy which has allowed entrepreneurs to start

Since the 1990 s, entrepreneurs have been the key driver of economic growth, which was apparent

In 1915 a failed attempt was made for a national health insurance program. Another attempt was made

Facilitate The Use Of Personal Information Essay
When working with children or young adults the practitioner needs to be aware of the current

Nozick s Notion Of Historical Entitlement
Nozick asserts that the state should not be able to prohibit capitalist transfers between consenting
adults. In this paper I will argue that this claim is true in all circumstances regardless of the resulting
inequality. I will begin my analysis by explaining why it is that Nozick makes this claim. This
explanation will focus on articulating his detailed description of just acquisition and transfer of
holdings. I will then move on to describe how Nozick s conclusion regarding just transfers results in
him forbidding state intervention restricting capitalist acts. The focus here will be on detailing how
Nozick s notion of historical entitlement combats the competing theories of justice in holdings,
namely theories composed of end state principles and patterned principles. Finally, I will address
common concerns and anticipate rebuttals to Nozick s claim and show how they are unsuccessful in
their attempts. Nozick believes that a state should not prohibit consensual transfers between fit
individuals due in part to the sacrifice of liberty that it entails. Nozick puts forth a theory of
entitlement that does not include such a sacrifice. It consists of two main components: the principle of
justice in acquisition and the principle of justice in transfer. The two principles together bring about a
state of justice in holdings. Justice in transfer is concerned with answering the question of how a
person may rightfully transfer a holding to another individual as well as

Thoughts and behavior
Thoughts are just electrochemical reactions to Stimuli. When we experience anything, we can react to

How Did The British Change Our Life
Have you ever considered about switching sides? Our lives matter. Do you really want to be controlled

Our lives would be better in taxes, trade, and political theory and I ll explain why. One area that our
lives could be changed for the better would be our trade. For example, Britain limits and controls who
we trade with. But when we have freedom to trade with whoever our economic growth could expand

Essay about Ethics in Nursing Research
Ethics of Nursing Research Conducting quality research requires the researcher to perform within both
ethical and legal guidelines. Ethics is the study of right and wrong (Houser, J., 2012, pg.50). Ethics
provide the avenue for decision making and are guided by the researcher s integrity. Legal guidelines
provide direction to the researcher by specifying what is required by law to conduct research. As a
nurse researcher, it is an ethical duty to advocate for patients when incompetent, unethical or illegal
practices are observed. There are three basic principles to consider when evaluating the ethics of a

In standing up for what I believe in, I will not be ignorant of other people. I can be assertive in my beliefs without trying to impose them on my fellow citizens. America stands for diversity and to have patriotism to her is to believe that all people have a right to believe in thier own system of values. I do not agree with Emma Goldman, who stated: Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent then the living beings inhabited by any other spot. It is therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others. On the contrary, patriotism stands for fighting for everyone to have the same freedom that I do. We did not ask for terrorist to attack our country, but it is our duty to defend her, not blindly as people would say we do, but earnestly keeping the good of all in mind. Richard Maybury, author of Early Warning Report, wrote: The only thing I would be willing to die for is my home and family; I would do what ever it takes to repel an invader, to protect my homeland. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, I will now talk about the disadvantages of having a partisan election. First, partisan elections cost a lot more money than nonpartisan elections, because in nonpartisan elections you do not have to campaign. The voters must do their own research on the candidates and makes the voter actually think and know why they are going to vote. A bad thing about this though would be time. Not everybody has time to go out and do research on candidates, because most people work eight or more hour shifts at work and then they do not want to go out and do research. Another disadvantage would be I think there is too much information out there for the candidates, which ends up confusing the voter instead of benefiting. This makes it harder when coming to vote, so many people will just mark anything because they do not care. These would be one the biggest disadvantages of partisan elections to me in state politics. I will now examine some of last election year s results. Voter turnout has decreased in the past years. There are two main factors that have been coming up in the past years. First, many citizens say that who is elected in office is not as important as it once was. Secondly, younger Americans are more cynical and disconnected from politics than ever. Contagion In MassShootings Study author Sherry Towers, research professor in the ASU Simon A. Levin Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center, explained, The hallmark of contagion is observing patterns of many events that are bunched in time, rather than occurring randomly in time. Her team examined databases on past high profile mass killings and school shootings in the U.S. and fit a contagion model to the data to determine if these tragedies inspired similar events in the near future. They determined that mass killings events with four or more deaths and school shootings create a period of contagion that lasts an average of 13 days. Nurses are supposed to ensure that they adhere to the highest standards as well as maintaining the trust they have from the public. Relevant and Meaningful Service Our group went to Broward County Library Miramar/Broward College during a health fair. At the health fair, there were several professors, staff, students from other classes, and some RN BSN students doing required community services. It was a great opportunity to test our knowledge about the impact of culture on health behaviors in health assessment findings and the significance of age and developmental stages. The presenter s nurses had some knowledge about culture on health behaviors and health assessment findings as well as on developmental age stages, but it was definitely a real learning experience. As nurse and future BSN, we find it is imperative to educate the audience in the community by using a poster board with normal and abnormal values for cholesterol, blood pressure, body ideal mass index, diabetes and associate risk. We had the opportunity to interact with a diverse multicultural audience. For instance, one person in the audience was a Hispanic adult man who only spoke Spanish, and the other person was a young adult African American male. Both of these clients were assisted with vital signs and had their questions answered regarding their health concerns. Also, there was a young African American woman who said, she never checks her blood pressure, thus she was willing to learn and allow us to check her blood pressure. Surprisingly, her blood pressure reading was 110/70. We showed her on the board the normal and abnormal level for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and how to calculate her body ideal mass. My Experience AndThe Otpf Considering my experience and the OTPF, I believe that all occupations are affected to an extent. Depending on the person and the mental illness some areas of concern is, ADL s, IADL s, work, leisure, social participations and sleep. The mental illness population will struggle with social participation, withdrawing from their family, friends and their peers. They will experience difficulty functioning at school or work, leading to them dropping out of school or losing their job, possibly due to problems with memory and thinking. I think for some, if not most of the population they start feeling disconnected from reality. I think other areas of concern are sleep, eating, and hygiene habits, for example, they may struggle with gathering necessary supplies for bathing and washing their hair. One of the things I witnessed at ETBH is the amount of clients admitted with drug or alcohol abuse, which can lead to a continuous pattern because it makes them feel better and the symptoms dissipate for a short time. Which can also lead to mood changes and thoughts of suicide. The mental illness population can struggle in any one of these occupations or multiple areas, maybe due to a lack of motivation or lack of structure in their everyday lives. People with mental illness struggle with how they may think, feel, mood swings, and their behavior. It affects their ability to relate to others and function in daily occupations. His case is known as The Whitechapel Murders, and has yet to be solved. During the era in which Ripper was active, there were eleven murders committed in London; however, the Ripper is only believed to be directly responsible for five of these victims ( The Whitechapel Murder Victims ). Although his well known name has rung bells for over a century, many still question how he has remained so famous in the first place. Understandably so, since unquestionably there have been more massive serial killers since Rippers era, being that Rippers accreditation is only to five victims killed within a twelve or so week period. On the other hand, to understand why Ripper is still so famous, it is essential to understand his killings beyond the surface. It is not just how many he murdered, but where he killed, the name for which he became known as, and the simple fact that people still want answers. Understanding where the Ripper killed and why it plays such an important role in his case is the first part of going beyond the surface. The Realm OfOrganizational Change And Development Essay In the realm of organizational change and development there is a standard model that is considered among most organizational development professionals to be the basic format for planned changed known as the General Model of planned Change. Essentially what organizational development professionals are dealing with is almost exclusively centered around planned change. That same type of planned change was present within the Sunflower Incorporated Company which started their planned change initiative in early 1989. The technology that the company was looking to change was the financial reporting system in order to have a new system that is able to compare sales, cost, and profit margins on a regional basis. The company decided to open a new position that was specifically targeted at maximizing the performance of the companies financial goals and they hired a new pricing manager by the name of Agnes Albanese who was in charge of conducting the internal price management initiative. He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. Nozick s NotionOf Historical Entitlement Nozick asserts that the state should not be able to prohibit capitalist transfers between consenting adults. In this paper I will argue that this claim is true in all circumstances regardless of the resulting inequality. I will begin my analysis by explaining why it is that Nozick makes this claim. This explanation will focus on articulating his detailed description of just acquisition and transfer of holdings. I will then move on to describe how Nozick s conclusion regarding just transfers results in him forbidding state intervention restricting capitalist acts. The focus here will be on detailing how Nozick s notion of historical entitlement combats the competing theories of justice in holdings, namely theories composed of end state principles and patterned principles. Finally, I will address common concerns and anticipate rebuttals to Nozick s claim and show how they are unsuccessful in their attempts. Nozick believes that a state should not prohibit consensual transfers between fit individuals due in part to the sacrifice of liberty that it entails. Nozick puts forth a theory of entitlement that does not include such a sacrifice. It consists of two main components: the principle of justice in acquisition and the principle of justice in transfer. Amy Goldwasser Whats The Matter With Kids In the essay What s the Matter with Kids? Amy Goldwasser addresses that the internet should be another educational tool to make the newer generation succeed their limits in our society. She first states that Common Core, National Endowment for the Arts, and a Nobel Prize winner think that young people today are weak in knowledge of history and literature. The reason they believe that is because the internet stores young people s trivia. Goldwasser offers insight that the older generation is not expecting that the internet is just a medium and that the generation is afraid that kids know things they don t. On the other hand, she says instead of going against the internet, go with it. She believes that internet turned teenagers into honest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the novel, Alice is unsure of what to expect with regard to her physical appearance and is constantly in a state of confusion over the dramatic changes in her body: ?How puzzling all these changes are! I?m never sure what I?m going to be, from one minute to another!? Alice is left disoriented as she undergoes physical changes in her body and wonders: ?if she was different from who she was before, who is she now??4 Alice?s experiences in Wonderland show how adolescents, mainly women, are forced to adjust to unexpected changes and adapt to fit into the real world.5 The theme with Alice growing and shrinking into different sizes is relatable to many young women as they experience the ups and downs of adolescence.6 As Alice learns throughout her journey in Wonderland, discovering her true self is not always easy and can sometimes be quite intimidating. Two particularly frightening moments for Alice in this struggle are her encounters with the Caterpillar and with the Pigeon. The Caterpillar demands to know, ?Who are you??, a question that both confuses and disturbs Alice because she does not even know the answer herself.7 Alice again shows uncertainty regarding her identity when asked by ... Essay about Ethicsin Nursing Research Ethics of Nursing Research Conducting quality research requires the researcher to perform within both ethical and legal guidelines. Ethics is the study of right and wrong (Houser, J., 2012, pg.50). Ethics provide the avenue for decision making and are guided by the researcher s integrity. Legal guidelines provide direction to the researcher by specifying what is required by law to conduct research. As a nurse researcher, it is an ethical duty to advocate for patients when incompetent, unethical or illegal practices are observed. There are three basic principles to consider when evaluating the ethics of a study: 1) respect for persons, 2) beneficence, and 3) justice (Houser, J., 2012, pg. 54 56). To apply these ... The subject should be willing to participate in the study with no reward offered for participation. The informed consent process begins with participant selection and ends with a signed document of agreement. In the case study regarding Mr. and Mrs. G, there were many questionable areas of concern regarding ethical practices and obtainment of an informed consent. As the nurse researcher, the duty to advocate for the patient is of primary concern. The first concern recognized through this case study is that of vague description of the study. As the nurse researcher, I would need to be made aware of the data collection process and the parameters upon which the research is based. Obtainment of data to be used in research must maintain patient confidentiality. Did the researchers use patient medical records, family member interviews, patient interviews or staff involvement in patient selection? Were there any HIPPA violations in the selection process? Were the subjects informed that they were being screened for participation? I would also need to assess the preliminary review of literature that is driving this particular study. What is the appropriate time to conduct a study such as this? Is the purpose of this study going to facilitate a change in patient outcomes? Being A SixthGrade Mean Girl On Being a Sixth Grade Mean Girl Squeals pierce my eardrums as little girls talk about loving their boyfriends. The overbearing scent of Axe radiates off of every arrogant schoolboy who gallivants across the grounds and stops at my locker. Gossip flutters around me, seducing me into its inescapable vice. Such was Memorial Middle School when I first debuted in August, 2011. Going into sixth grade, I was the most popular girl in school. Although I may have had ebony hair and bubblegum lips, there was no hiding the ugliness of who I was: the meanest girl in school. I hadn t always been that girl; for two years I was the opposite, a victim of excruciating cruelty. In third grade, I was placed into the Enrichment program, a group of five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I loved to read, so I was a nerd; I used words they couldn t understand, so I was a freak. Soon enough, I started to believe them; by the conclusion of fourth grade, I felt worthless. When I learned that I would be transferring schools, I saw redemption. That summer, I exchanged novels for magazines; I went on extreme diets to lose weight as if cutting pounds could cut the memories of abuse from my head. Going into fifth grade, I found myself googling How to be Normal in an attempt to abandon my identity; fifteen pounds and a miniskirt later, I had all but done so. By maintaining a facade of normalcy , I became instantly popular, and I gained influence that I had never thought possible. Girls looked to me for advice on everything from boys to hairstyles, and I reveled in my superiority . Thus, when sixth grade arrived, I was a bully; I became the people who had tormented me. I was deliberately vicious, ridiculing anyone who didn t fit the impossible standard I used to hide my insecurities. I slashed people down and used their broken pieces to repair myself. The girl I had been seemed permanently lost to the monster I had become until Julia. Julia was everything I secretly longed to be: beautiful, brilliant, and unapologetically compassionate. She was my first friend in Mentor, but I rapidly abandoned her upon realizing that she was unpopular . That is where our contact ended; simply ignoring her meant that no harm came to ... Fallen Bird ResearchPaper Fallen Bird Stiff and smooth sticking out between my aching toes, the grass flirts with my feet giving me the illusion that it knows who I am. I lift myself up from the ground and head straight, making sure my front sole feels the rough rubble that no one cares to pick up. My toes touch the fine cinder and I measure out two steps before I turn and start running. I count the steps in my head and feel the track slightly turn and follow the movement swiftly, conquering the track that I practiced so hard to master in order to compete in my cities annual track and field meet. My heart no longer beats as hard at it had 357 days ago, when Alistair first took me out to practice on the track. Holding my hand each step of the way, he guided me around the track until my bare feet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I clench my soft bed sheets and cry into them, releasing all my energy. Alistair informed me that the Annual Track and Field meet changed their track for this year s meet. I whimper knowing I only have myself to blame for thinking that someone like me could win a meet. I want to lie in bed and listen to the world pass me by but Alistair refuses to let me do so. He takes me to the track and tells me to listen and I obey him, and I swear it is as if those birds I envy so much are chanting my name, telling me to go on. The sun embraces me by wrapping its rays all over my visible skin and the wind tickles me as it passes by to say hello. I wait for the track meet to beginning, living off hope that I can feel the ground curves in order to win this meet. I stand in my position, next to a cold arm that has already started sweating and a man talking about his many years of experience. I hear mumbling from a lady with a microphone so far away from me it feels so surreal, and a loud bomb that rattles inside my chest. I speed off, my bare feet hitting the ground with a strong ...
