Influence of Cultures on The Thousand and One Nights Essay...
Stories like Sindbad, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and other popular stories are very common
today in the western culture. Animated movies were also made for the entertainment of kids on
these popular stories. One might wonder that where these stories originated and how it came down
and made place in the western culture. Although these stories are very popular in both the western
culture and the eastern culture but the original literary work is not so popular in common people.
Theses stories are some of the stories from the Arabic work The Thousand and One Nights. The

The same is claimed by Goitein as he says that the first element in the tile of popular book:

The Different Differences Between Eastern And Western Culture
The perspective of culture, however, might be quite relative. Since culture can be learned, obtained,
adapted, and even transmitted from one society to another. Throughout the development of human
race, culture may also rely on many variables, including knowledge, religion, customs, and habits.
Therefore, Eastern and Western cultures mentioned below are relatively right in most
circumstances, not all of them. It is widely believed that parent s own heritage can have a powerful
impact on parenting style. Many people argue that the concept of individualism and collectivism is
the primary difference between Eastern and Western culture(Nisbett, R. E., 2003). A list of 18 pairs
of Eastern and Western cultural differences adapted by Rev. Tran

For example, kids above 12 years old would love to cuddle and have more attention from their
parents. Conversely, teenagers may require more personal space where they can freely express
their own traits, and perhaps, keep some of their own secrets. At this stage in life, Eastern parents
may frequently emphasize on family unit since young adolescents gradually reveal the need of
expressing their own image, making decisions by themselves rather than depending on family.
Furthermore, at both stages given above, kids are expected to obey any sayings from the authority.
There may be endless discussions about so many differences between the two cultures. Thus, this
report will merely mention five pairs of different values between Eastern and Western culture
drawn from the observations and some previous works. This is to further analyze the norms given
by parents when bringing up their children. The pairs of values comprise of: passiveness versus
assertiveness, hierarchy versus equality, restraint versus expressiveness, collectivism versus
individualism, and the gift of family versus the gift of work (in retirement

Educational Literacy in the Context of Environmental...
Educational Literacy in the Context of Environmental Ethics
ABSTRACT: I explore the concept of literacy and the role it might play in environmental ethics.
One of the goals of environmental ethics is to describe and contribute to the creation of an
ecologically responsible culture. The creation of such a culture requires the development of
knowledge and abilities that will help sustain such a culture. Since education is one of the key
institutions for instilling values and world views, it is important for environmental philosophers to
think about the institutionalization of environmental theories in terms of their implications for the
environmentally literate person. I argue that attention to literacy is significant for two reasons. ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the utopian goal of many philosophers interested in environmental ethics is the creation of an
environmentally responsible and just culture, it is incumbent upon us to think critically about how
various environmental ethical positions might be integrated with and institutionalized within the
existing societies we know and experience.
In so far as we frame one goal of environmental ethics to be the nurturing of an ecological culture,
we must begin to ask how such a culture can be brought about. Clearly, environmental values and
priorities must be institutionalized within a responsible society. But this suggests that
environmental philosophy needs to examine the role to be played by education and educational
institutions in the development of an environmentally responsible society. Education plays a major
role in fostering the abilities and values of citizens. We should, therefore, ask how environmental
aspirations ought to affect the goals of education.
I shall use the concept of literacy quite broadly to refer to the goals of the educational process.
Environmental philosophers need to think through an image of the environmentally literate person
as an integral part of doing environmental ethics. There are two reasons for saying this. First,
environmental values must become an intimate part of the beliefs and aspirations of individual
citizens if environmental responsibility is to grow in democratic soil and not from the imposition

Garveyism and Rastafarianism Essay
Garveyism and Rastafarianism
I. Introduction
In the twentieth century, two movements have emerged out of Jamaica in protest of black
oppression and slavery, both mental and physical. The first to evolve was Garveyism, founded by
Marcus Garvey, and was born in the aftermath of the First World War.
Rastafarianism was the second movement to emerge, lead by Leonard Howell during the
depression years of the 1930 s. Garveyism and Rastafarianism are both resistance movements based
on the same ideal: consciousness and essentialism of Africa and its descendants. The founding
brethren of the Rastafari movement were Garveyites themselves, although not members of the
Universal Negro Improvement Asscioation (UNIA), they agreed with and defended ... Show more

Garvey s aim was to recontextualize particular aspects of seeming irreconcilable systems of
Marxism/Leninism, monarchism, and even of National Socialism for the African of Africa
American experience (Zips, 224). Garvey did not feel restricted by established political ideologies,
instead he felt free to pick out the best attributes of every government. Ultimately, Garveyism hoped
to develop the African continent into a modern network of nations, modeling it after the United
States and Western Europe (Lewis, 146).
Garvey established the UNIA in Jamaica in the year 1914, two years later he left for the United
States in order to gain more momentum for his movement and spread the African unity he had
started in Jamaica. Before leaving Jamaica, Garvey made a prophecy of sorts to his followers:
Look into Africa for the crowning of a black king. He shall be the Redeemer (Barrett, 67). From
this prediction stems most of the discrepancy between Garveyites and Rastafarians, something I
will discuss later in this paper.
The four main themes that the Garvey movement was built upon were 1) Africa for Africans at
home and abroad, 2) unity, 3) self reliance, and 4) retaining their black pride in the presence of
whites (Chevannes, 95). Garvey brought this ideology with him to the United States where he
founded an American branch of the UNIA in 1917 and furthered his initiatives

The Themes Of Paranoia And Fear In The Atomic Age
The question of whether paranoia and fear were the prevailing mood in America after 1945 is not
one that can be answered in a black or white approach. We, as students of the present world, are
fortunate enough to be able to take on a zoomed out perspective on this issue; but the same could
not be done by Americans who lived through the beginning of the Atomic Age. They had far too
little knowledge about an issue that had such overreaching implications; and whatever little
knowledge they had were mostly incomplete or distorted. A recurring theme of the film was the
mismatch between what the Americans were told by the government, and the actual gravity of the
situation. The movie highlights these two extremes by alternating between scenes that... Show more

Sodium Hypochlorite
Description
When our favorite white T shirt gets badly stained, we reach for our favorite laundry detergent that
contains bleach. The bleaching agent present in the detergent is a chemical called sodium
hypochlorite, which is the focus of our discussion in this lesson.
!!!What is Sodium Hypochlorite?
When our favorite articles of clothing get stained, and when we need to clean our bathrooms, we
reach for our laundry detergent household cleaners that contain bleach.
Bleach
The main constituent of household bleach is a chemical called sodium hypochlorite. __Sodium
hypochlorite__ in liquid form is greenish or yellowish in color and is commonly referred to as
bleach because it is the active ingredient in bleach. Its chemical formula is __NaClO__, composed
of one sodium (Na) atom, one chlorine (Cl) atom and one oxygen (O) atom. Its chemical structure
shows that hypochlorite ion (ClO ) has an ionic bond with sodium (Na+) ion.
Sodium Hypochlorite Chemical Structure
Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) is produced by a process known as the __Hooker process__,
which is the method used for a large scale production of NaClO. In the Hooker process, sodium
hydroxide (NaOH) is exposed to chlorine gas (Cl2). Along with sodium hypochlorite, the reaction
between these two substances produces sodium chloride (NaCl), water (H2O):

vapors. Inhalation of sodium hypochlorite can irritate the lungs, so if this happens seek fresh air

high concentrations on our skin can cause burns and irritation. Sodium hypochlorite is also an eye
irritant. If skin and eyes come into contact with sodium hypochlorite, flush with water immediately

Why Should College Athletes Get Paid
Year after year fans enjoy nail biting moments produced by the NCAA basketball tournament and
football season. Many would argue that the NCAA provides a product that matches up with the
professionals both competitively and financially. The only difference is that professionals get
paid for the revenue that they bring in while NCAA athletes do not. It is time for change, college
athletes should be monetarily compensated because they are the ones who have made the NCAA
profitable for many years. The idea of college athletes getting paid has been at the center of the
sports world because there are a variety of opinions surrounding this topic. Raymond G. Schneider

Those alone can make enough money to pay college athletes. For instance college football is a
money maker when December arrives, teams are guaranteed to see an increase in numbers because
that is when championships are settled. There are at least twenty bowl games during that month
ending with the national title game which is seen by millions around the world. The title game
alone can generate an enormous amount of revenue because of all the advertising that the NCAA
does prior to the game.
When it comes to college basketball, it is basically the same thing. This sport alone generates large
amounts of money because it is a popular sport in the United States. The real money is made in
the month of March when the most anticipated college basketball tournament is played. Multiple
businesses work with the NCAA to have their commercials shown during nationally televised
games, the deals are made between them for large amounts of cash. According to an article from
the NPR website Our athletic program at the University of Miami is subsidized by the university
millions of dollars, in fact and I would argue that most of the programs in this country are in the
same situation she says ( Staff ). When all of these factors are put together it is very possible to
pay college athletes since it is proven that the NCAA and universities make millions of dollars with
ease.

Persuasive Essay On Aerophobia
Aggravating Aerophobia
Huge fires burning up the runway, thousands of people screaming and running for their lives, but
most of all the fear that you could have been one of them. Why would you not be afraid of
flying, also known as aerophobia, when 583 people died in a single plane crash? On March
27,1977, plenty of us changed our minds about flying in planes and helicopters when the biggest
plane crash in history occurred on the Los Rodeos Airport runway. Aerophobia affects umpteem
people and could hold you back from life s many adventures. If you are one of the millions of
sufferers of aerophobia, it may be helpful to know the origin, the causes of it, symptoms, and how
to overcome it.
Not the entire population knows what causes aerophobia, or even the origin of it, which could
be terribly unhelpful if you are trying to overcome it. Actually, aerophobia could be from a
countless number of other fears, either all combined together or just a single one. These can
include the fears of combined spaces and heights. It can also be connected to any crashes, havoc,
and other experiences you have heard of or been involved in. One other cause may be if you
have a certain sickness, which would probably just embarrass you. Even if we can agree on what
causes it, the origin is not very clear. According to sources, the actual word was first recorded
from about 1765 1775. Later in time, near 1911, came the first known use of aerophobia. All in all,
the causes of aerophobia vary

Heteroglossia
Heteroglossia Langue and linguistic variation
Bakhtin developed the notion in contrast with the structuralist account of language, which was
centered in the notion of langue, that is, the systematic set of rules determining the well formedness
of an expression or utterance. This concept, introduced by Saussure, emphasised the notion that the
code conformed by the linguistic norms must be common to all speakers for communication to be
possible. This was seen as a dangerous simplification by Bakhtin, who asserted that languages are
internally divided, not simply into regional dialects, but also into many different strata,
corresponding to all possible axes of social division; he thus posited a minutely nuanced variety of
class , ethnia , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He defines heteroglossia as another s speech in another s language, serving to express authorial
intentions but in a refracted way. Bakhtin identifies the direct narrative of the author, rather than
dialogue between characters, as the primary location of this conflict.
Languages as points of view
Bakhtin viewed the modern novel as a literary form best suited for the exploitation of
heteroglossia, in direct contrast to epic poetry (and, in a lesser degree, poetry in general). The
linguistic energy of the novel was seen in its expression of the conflict between voices through their
adscription to different elements in the novel s discourse.
Any language, in Bakhtin s view, stratifies into many voices: social dialects, characteristic group
behavior, professional jargons, generic languages, languages of generations and age groups,
tendentious languages, languages of the authorities, of various circles and of passing fashions. This
diversity of voice is, Bakhtin asserts, the defining characteristic of the novel as a genre.
Traditional stylistics, like epic poetry, do not share the trait of heteroglossia. In Bakhtin s words,
poetry depersonalizes days in language, while prose, as we shall see, often deliberately intensifies
difference between them...

Free Speech On The Internet
It is about time we have some filters or establish and enforce legal ramifications on the use of the
internet when hate speech is identified in all 50 states. These legal ramifications should be
extended to people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates.
The internet has radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a
place to express free speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users
in a negative way. This paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users
misuse the idea of free speech on the internet and why we need to filter hate speechand introduce
legal ramifications for these actions.
Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over things they posted
on the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their private time. In America, students are
not supposed to lose their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students
rights to free speech and privacy in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide
both valuable education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to
demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years, educators have
repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and administrators.

the following. Business to business relationship, this includes relationship with suppliers,

Another benefit is the increase in customer revenues. CRM helps the company increase its revenue
to a great extent. By using the collected data, the company will be able to popularize marketing
campaigns in an effective way. This software ensures that product promotions reach different and
new set of customers and it will increase company s customer revenue effectively. The third benefit
is that CRM helps the company in maximizing up selling and cross selling. This system gives the
customers premium products which fall in same category of their purchase. It also facilitates cross
selling on the basis of their previous purchases. This is done through interaction with customers and
getting ideas concerning their needs, wants and patterns of their purchase. The obtained details are
stored in a central database that is accessible to all company executives. The executives can promote
their products to the customers when an opportunity is spotted, hence maximizing cross selling and
up selling (Mauri 2003). . The fifth benefit is better internal communication. If this strategy is
followed, it helps in building better communication within the company. Sharing of customer
information between different departments will enable the whole company work as a team hence
enabling better service to the customers and hence an increase in company s profitability. The forth

Shakespeare Poetry Analysis
Poets and authors alike evoke emotion and pictures from one single word. The imagery and
thoughts put into the readers heads by these different writers are the base of one s creativity and
imagination while reading the author s work of art. William Shakespeare is one of the most well
known poets of all time that is able to elicit these emotions from the reader to allow the reader to
fully understand what Shakespeare is trying to accomplish with his poems. Shakespeare keeps his
audience entertained with a whopping 154 sonnets, each having a different meaning and imagery
associated with it. Sonnet18, [Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day] , and Sonnet 55, [Not
Marble, nor the Gilded Monuments] , are both one of Shakespeare s most famous works.
Shakespeare uses these sonnets to explore the powerful relationship between humanity, art, and
time.
Humanity is a common topic in Shakespeare s sonnets. In [Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s
Day] , humanity is first referred to as a complexion. And often is his gold complexion dimmed is
referring to how a person s beauty is sometimes not shown ( Sonnet 18 6). According to Ray, a
writer for the Explicator, complexion should be interpreted to mean the total disposition of the
person... both external and internal features (Ray). Shakespeare proves this point, for the word
complexion is used to portray that although the person s beauty is not shown, it is still immortal.
Another piece of humanity in the poem is immortality.

The Theory Of Knowledge Year

Theory of Knowledge Year 1
22 January 2016
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence . Do you agree?
Evidence is typically described something that tends to prove or disprove something, or are used
as the grounds for a belief or ideal. It can be assumed that all ideals have some sort of basis, even
if that basis includes no evidence to back its claim. It is a claim with the basis of verbal word.
And yet, Hitchens claims that through having no evidence is just as good as having a claim to
back it. He sees it as a way of approaching the unknown, as we do on a normal basis. But, evidence
cannot be gathered by logic on its own. There are many factors that contribute to finding proof, ...

These are considered the highest form, and yet, when it comes to the natural sciences, an
eyewitness account is seen as one of the lowest forms of evidence. Why would the same idea be
considered good for one but not for another? It comes down to the fact that some evidence can
just be disregarded. An example of the power of eyewitness testimony and how reliable it can be
being that in cases like Michael Brown, many saw what the police officer did, thus leading to the
conclusion it was an act of police brutality, leading to an uproar and many taking it for the truth
(Witnesses to the Michael Brown Shooting). And yet, when it comes to science, if a scientist were to
go up to a group of scientists and claim that he had just defied the law of gravity, many would
disregard his claims, calling it a lie and pushing him away. These demonstrate how the use of
evidence differs between areas of knowledge. But does language not play a vital rule in the natural
sciences? Absolutely not. For evidence to have merit in the natural sciences, scientist must use the
scientific method. Through this method, claims can be asserted through extensive ranges of
evidence and proof, or what is considered evidence and proof in

My Position Of A Career After College
Networking Event Assignment When I went through the list of companies I narrowed down my
choices based on my personal interest for a full time positions. Some of the companies were not
currently looking for full time positions so I was able to immediately cross them off the list. My
main preference for a career after college is to be in a project management role in the
construction field. This preference caused me to lean towards talking to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, U.S. Navy, Messer Construction, and Whittenberg Construction. I was able to get to all
of the employers and speak with them for a brief amount of time to discuss the company. I was

The Age Of African American Literature
Wheatley was the first African American to have her work published and is known as the
mother of African American literature. Wheatley was brought into slavery and she was very
fortunate to have masters that allowed her to learn to read and write. In the 18th century, it was
very rare to find an African American who was educated and with Whitley being a female it was
even more surprising. Her vernacular was very broad and she was not timid about letting her
voice be heard. In fact, you can imagine the type of women she was by reading His Excellency
General Washington. Whitley s poems mostly consist of themes that revolved around
Christianity, slavery and abstract ideas which were based on her personal beliefs, experiences,
and ideas. The belief that the power of poetry is immeasurable was her inspiration while writing.
After reading a few poems by Whitley I realized her work is still relevant and by break down
each piece of work I can find inspiration. Throughout this paper I am going to analyze Wheatley
works and also find was to see how her work relates to modern times. The poem To S.M., a
Young African Painter on Seeing His Work is one Wheatley less popular pieces of work even
though it contain a very inspiring message. The way she used detailed and descriptive words in
such an angelic ways was breath taking. Upon viewing the artist s work, Wheatley was inspired and
therefore wrote a poem about what she saw. The amount of enlightenment that she absorbed is

Sleep Personal Statement
I have always been enchanted by the idea of sleep. As a child, I laid in bed attempting to
understand why I was unable to fall asleep. I knew I wasn t the only one, but the snoring of my
family convinced me otherwise. Biology taught me to understand genetics and environmental
cues, but they were unable to explain to me how my sleep pattern was different. Unable to figure
the cause of my sleep problems, I delved into self treatments instead. Curiosity for knowledge in
sleep therapy prompted my interest in understanding sleep consequences and health. Not many
courses introduce the idea of sleep, so it had only been a side interest. I was unaware of the
seriousness of the problem and only wanted to understand sleep disorders because I ve dealt with
insomnia myself. Not until college did it occur to me that sleep was serious enough that studying
sleep was a profession. However, school has only taught me the minimal basics of sleep. I wanted
to understand the mechanism, the consequences, and the treatments for sleep. Unable to get a
better idea of sleep, I aimed to learn more about sleep research. Eventually through graduate
research, I would like to focus on understanding sleep and its application in improving health....

Earthquakes occur daily as plates of lithosphere travel on asthenosphere; however, some
earthquakes are larger and cause more damage than others. Major earthquake zones include the

Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could
see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a
poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to
symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title
may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but
some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind.
The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath
(Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to
remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may
have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major
role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy
dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel
lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made
him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. However,
even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely, But I hung on like death (3)
implying he was so scared all he could do was hang on to his father. His father s

Comparing The Book Of Ruth And 1 Kings 1-11
In this threaded discussion board you will use your analytical skills to compare and contrast the
book of Ruth to the end of Solomon s reign found in 1 Kings 1 11. It is important to look at these
two sections of scripture as bookends . Then, use your interpretative skills to explain the
significance of these two sections of scripture
A big difference in the book of Ruth and 1 Kings is the origin of the main characters. Ruth is a
Moabite woman from outside the Promised Land. Her upbringing most likely did not involve
learning or following the covenants of God. Her exposure to God most likely came from
Naomi, Naomi s husband and Naomi s son. But considering this family initially left the Promised
Land for a different life we can only speculate how faithful to God this family may have been.
Solomon was King David s son raised in the knowledge of God and his covenants. Solomon may
have even had first hand experience with his father praying to God.
A similarity between the two characters is their uncommon placement into their situation. Ruth was
a foreigner to Israel, brought to Israel by her devotion to her mother in law and God s divine
intervention. Had she not met this family in Moab, she would have never ... Show more content on

the story ends with happiness and blessings. Ruth represents a kind, caring and hardworking
individual. Because she had a devotion to her mother in law and followed her instructions

and devotion and blesses her. Boaz is also named as a man faithful to God (Duvall, Hayes, 2012).
Boaz is also blessed with the land of his kin, a marriage to Ruth who it appears he had fallen in

The Green Children Of Woolpit
The Green Children of Woolpit is a twelfth century mystery that has been around for centuries.
Many people have speculated and formed theories on where these children had come from. No
theory has been proven true, but the theories range from malnutrition to something such as
extraterrestrial visitors. This strange phenomenon can be explained. These children that visited
England, are aliens from a different world. The evidence that the children give the people from
England describes a land that is not on planet Earth. The Green Children of Woolpit is a twelfth
century mystery that started in Suffolk, England. During this time, this area was the most
agriculturally productive in all of rural England. The village of Suffolk had belonged to the
powerful Abbey of Bury St. Edmunds. In Suffolk, two green skinned children were found at the
mouth of an old wolf pit where the final wolf had been rumored to perish. The two children were
found by reapers working at a nearby farm. They spoke in an unfamiliar language and wore
strange clothing that was unknown to the people of England. The children were soon accepted
into the household Sir Richard de Caine at Wilks. After a while both children became ill and
things looked bleak for the both of the strange children. The boy had eventually passed, while the
girl soon miraculously recovered. The girl s skin even turned back to a normal color. After the

Many states had conflicting criminal laws due to the debate on whether life begins at conception
or at some other point in utero. These debates were based on religious belief systems, state laws,
and common law practices. There was no definitive line to be drawn upon when the fetus should be
considered a person with rights. Then, in 1973, the Supreme Court of the United Statesruled in the
decision Roe v. Wadethat abortions in all states were generally legal and allowed pregnant mothers

Wade, the legal reasoning of right to privacy was further reviewed and solidified. The method
used in this form of legal reasoning was reasoning from precedent , as it follows from the standard
of the right to privacy set in Griswold. In the case, the Texas statute in question made it a crime to
obtain an abortion unless the purpose was to save the life of the mother. A single, unmarried woman
Norma McCorvey wished to terminate her pregnancy under with a licensed physician under safe,

Jane Roe that the Texas laws were unconstitutionally vague and that they abridged her right of
personal privacy, protected by the First, Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments. On the
merits, the District Court held that the fundamental right of single women and married persons to

constituted an overbroad infringement of the plaintiffs Ninth Amendment rights (314 F. Supp 1217,

properties of rapid sedation (Goodwin Jamison, 2007). Another medication that is used is IM
olanzapine to calm acute manic agitation (Goodwin Jamison, 2007). When the patient has
extreme hyperactivity, typical antipsychotics are used to relieve symtoms of dehydration and

American Family Dynamics
American Family Dynamics
The make up and concept of what was once considered a traditional nuclear family is quickly
disappearing (Timmerman, 2013). According to Jojic, Raj, Wilkins, Treadwell, Caussade
Rodriguez, Blum (2012), Traditional family roles have changed, and the conception of what
Americans consider a family has likewise shifted with differing societal views regarding gender,
gender roles, race, and ethnicity (p. 128). To accompany the changes being made to the customary
view of family dynamics, the family environment has become an influential psychological aspect of
this change (Kwiatkowski, 2010). As evidence continues to expand regarding all of the changes that
have occurred, exact reasons regarding the changes are as abundant as the explanations described in
the data.
As the proof increases concerning the reasons for the downfall and declination of the traditional
family structure within the United States of America; new indications arise as to the reason for the
fall of the nuclear family. Various studies indicate various reasons for the changes. Social,
economical, and moral changes have taken place within the United States of America over the past
few decades. These changes have altered the traditional family concept and have historicalized the
nuclear family.

Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical
Karl Marx and His Radical Views
Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers
who expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human
person is part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power
to have an immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the
Industrial Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success
as a species. Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in
nature.

Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx
says that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only
have time to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man
becomes alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived
day by day, by day and he has nothing else to really live for.
Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the
organization. In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal
and all property would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is
inevitable. Marx believed the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism
was the only option[iv]. Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists,
entrepreneurs, and existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v].
Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels,
Fredriech Engels[vi]
who was also Marx s best friend. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet written on the eve of
the German Revolution in 1848. In his essay, Marx explains his radical theories on politics and
history. Marx and Engels also examined the positive aspects of capitalism in The Communist
Manifesto. They thought the bourgeoisie had

that it was a fair where people made products and technology. My dad stated, I wouldn t ask you
if I didn t think you would like it. I was sure whether to say yes or no. It sounded cool because I

After exploring for a while, my parents and I moved on to the next section. One of the most

Love In Romeo And Juliet
Love is a powerful thing and can be viewed in many different ways. This is expressed in the
tragedy of Romeo of Juliet written by William Shakespeare. This is the tragedy of two lovers
who struggle to find ease in their life as they are in two opposing families. In the play Romeo
and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, the major characters have very different views of love that
they use to their advantage. Lord Capulet sets Juliet up with Paris for marriage which shows that
he has trouble understanding what love is. He even told his wife that unworthy as she is, that
we have wrought so worthy a gentleman to be her bride? (3.5.149 150). Lord Capulet expresses
a lot of anger here because Juliet won t accept what he set er up with. This shows that Lord
Capulet doesn t understand true love and that it is just about social status and looks. He is so
fed up with Juliet that he even insults her saying that she should hang thee, young baggage,
disobedient wretch (3.5.166). He is continually angry that Juliet can t accept her fate that is
being with Paris as her husband. He may not know about Romeo and Juliet being together but he
still doesn t give her a choice. Lord Capulet s finite view of how love works are not right and he
uses it as a tool to build the family that he wants. Kersten 2 Romeo s view of love in the story is
very different from what Lord Capulet thinks of it. In the beginning of the book, he asks himself Is

Definition Essay On UGA HERO
Hero (n.): a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their brave deeds and noble
qualities; someone who fights for a cause; a large sandwich made of a long crusty roll split
lengthwise and filled with meats and cheese
The definitions of a hero are endless ranging from dignified to downright tasty. Still, with all these
interpretations it makes me wonder. What defines a true hero? I found my answer when I joined
UGA HEROs.
When I stepped foot onto UGA s campus I knew I wanted to get involved. To me, trying out a
volunteer organization was an obvious start. It was safe. It was volunteering. No one could make
me do it or stay if I didn t want to and while I was at it I could rack up some good karma points. I
quickly learned that there was basically the big three (among several other awesomely worthy
organizations) when it came to volunteer organizations on campus Relay, Miracle, and HEROs.
HEROs stood out to me for three reasons:
1.They were the most in my face and consistently passionate at organization fairs.
2.I didn t really know much about HIV/AIDS so I thought it could be a good learning experience.
3.The name. I mean it just sounded cool (and not to mention red is definitely my color) ... Show

I joined, but I wasn t really that involved. I went to the required meetings, raised more money than
I had to, but I wasn t really sure if I was feeling it. I applied to Freshman Council and wasn t
accepted so I was a bit discouraged and I wasn t making any friends (sometimes it s tough being an
introvert). However, for my efforts I was allowed to be on a committee, but I didn t really know
what was going on since I came in halfway through. I just felt kind of lost and out of place. Still, I
decided I would go to our biggest event of the year to see what all the hype was about HEROs
Olympics. That day I realized what being a hero really

West Egg, East Egg And The Valley Of Ashes
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, setting plays a very important role. The
novel is set in New York City and in Long Island in 1922, yet in the novel there are three different
locations described in great detail as well as the people who reside in each area. The locations
are West Egg, East Egg, and The Valley of Ashes. Each one of these areas represent a different
type of personality or way of living from every person that stay there. Each characters background,

Greek Women And Roman Women
Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves: Women in Classical Antiquity by Sarah B. Pomeroy
The title of this book, Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves is written in order of the ranking
of women. In classical antiquity, in some aspects, a whore had more freedom and rights than a
married upper class woman. This alone is evidence of the degree that women in classical
antiquity were oppressed. Classical Greek Athenian women and Roman women had similarities in
their life styles and expectations to become wives and mothers, but Roman women developed
minor freedoms throughout the duration of the empire that Greek Athenian women did not
possess. The only known exception to this are the women of Sparta, who had a unique level of
freedom in the Greek world. Roman and Greek women were both under the protection of men,
with their primary life goal being motherhood. (62, line 15. Find Roman citation here!) Greek
women s marriageability was dependent on their dowry, and a woman was obliged to marry the
men selected by her guardian. (64,line 4) However, in Roman society the women had more say in
whom they married. If the woman deemed the potential husband to be morally unfit, she could deny
the marriage. After their father and potential guardians passed away, a Roman women could even
select her own husband. (157,line 26). Throughout the duration of marriage, Athenian women were
expected to stay within the home, taking care of the children and spinning her wheel. This

President Roosevelt s National Parks And Preservation...
As President Mckinley condition stabilized, post being shot, Vice President Theodore Roosevelt
embarked to view the vastness of nature in the less developed west. His trip was cut short, as he
got word that Mckinley s condition had turned for the worse. Mckinley was pronounced dead
September 14, 1901; subsequently, Roosevelt was sworn into the presidency, along with his
progressive views. Although this was not the start of the conservation and preservation movements,
extended from the late 19th through the early 20th century, it was a major step for the movement as
Roosevelt had empathy for activists and nature. The combination of a movement and a president
who was willing to move resulted in five national parks and 18 national monuments being
established by the end of Roosevelt s presidency. After the establishment of these parks, the lands
were to be preserved by federal government, but the political and economical agendas of those
opposed to the conservation and preservation movements still endangered the pristine land. The fact
that it took a president to get assassinated, before any serious legislative help came to aid the
conservation and preservation movements. If the movement came in a more populated group,
which could agree on how save the environment around us, then it wouldn t have taken this mishap
to get the ball rolling. The battle for Hetch Hetchy highlighted the different views within the
movement, all in favor of environmental protection. Years later

Churches of Cherokee Essay
There are many challenges to ministry in today s world and having a vital and relevant ministry is
even harder. Churches across all denominations face drastic declines in both attendees and financial
giving. With this as the background, it is imperative that vital ministries seek out opportunities to
grow and engage groups and communities that have previously been overlooked, missed or not
involved for other reasons including some theological reasons. With this idea and goal in mind, this
essay sets out to examine and design a process by which the Churches of Cherokee, Oklahoma can
successfully connect with and minster to the new Hispanic communityin Cherokee. Using the
pastoral cycle method, a process will be designed in this essay to... Show more content on

Finally, action is the last step in the process before the process begins again. Action is the
considered response from the organization to answer the need or experience that was discovered
during the experience portion of the cycle. While on the surface this appears to be a simple four
step process, however, when used to the fullest extent the cycle of examination never really stops,
the ministry is always at one point or the other within the cycle. (1)
The context chosen for this essay is the intercultural needs of Cherokee, Oklahoma. The
community of Cherokee is primarily a rural agricultural and ranching community. This community
was settled during the Oklahoma land run of 1893 primarily by immigrants of German decent. (2)
However, in the past two years the community has seen a population explosion due to the new oil
production method called fracking. With this discovery more than three thousand oil field workers
have moved into and around Alfalfa County and the city of Cherokee. While many of these
workers return to homes on the weekend a large portion of those workers have moved their
families into Cherokee and the surrounding communities. One of the primary ethnic groups
represented in this group are Hispanic. One of the key issues facing the churches, social services
and schools of Cherokee is language as this ethnic group is primarily Spanish speaking. Other issues

Undertale Essay
Game Analysis: Undertale (2015)
In Undertale the combat system is very unique in comparison to other games by being a mix of
a Shoot em up game and a turn based RPG. Once a player enters combat through a random
encounter in the overworld they are greeted with a screen showing the enemies sprite and at the
bottom of the screen 4 different options for them to pick; fight, act, item and mercy. Once it is
the enemy s turn to attack the player A box will appear with a player controlled heart symbol in
the centre, then different things will appear in the box that the player must avoid or they will take
damage. If the player chooses the fight command they will be shown a bar at the bottom of the
screen with a bar moving across the screen. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The game has a simple pixel art style which works quite well as it is meant to resemble a game
that would be for the NES or SNES. The characters in battle are always in black and white with a
simple black background which as a design choice works quite well as it doesn t distract the player
from dodging the enemies attacks and makes sure there s no way they can mistake any background
element for an attack they must dodge.
The enemy designs in the game are very unique and interesting, often representing some kind of
character trope, for example there is an enemy in the game named Aaron that is a horse with a
mermaid s tail that is obsessed with his muscles. When Aaron attacks the player, the player must
move out of the way from 2 arms on the side of the box that come up from the bottom. Every
monster in the game has specialised attacks like this, for example there is an enemy that has an
obsession with cleaning and his attack is water droplets flowing out from the middle of the screen
that the player has to avoid. This is a good design decision as it adds depth and intrigue to the
characters in an extremely simple way which will make the player interested to see what other

The Painted Bird By Jerzy Kosinski
Born as Josek Lewinkopf in June of 1933 in Lodz, Poland, the author of the novel The Painted
Bird was known as Jerzy Kosinski who had many celebrated novels. Before searching for a new
home and way of life in the United States of America, Kosinski had to live through the
treacherous events of World War Two as a young boy who was raised by Jewish parents. At the age
of six in 1939, the war had started and Kosinski was sent away to eastern Polandfor a good amount
of money. Kosinski was left on his own to learn and make choices in the middle of a world crisis
and the time of the Nazi s reign. Finally, when reunited with his parents, Kosinski was found in an
orphanage and could not speak from the stress and hostile peasants during the time of the war. He
then studied with his father who was a philologist and Jerzy completed all basic and formal
education in about a year. Kosinski received immense degrees in history and political science at the
University of Lodz in Poland. During his time at Lodz, Kosinski was a top of the Polish sociology
student in the 1950 s and traveled throughout the Soviet Union interviewing civilians about how
they lived under the communist government. Kosinski feared his opposition of communism, during
the time Poland was a country with a collectivized society and a part of the Iron Curtain, would
get him executed so he had to find a way out. According to Norman Lavers in his article Jerzy
Kosinski, Kosinski invented a series of sponsors of highly

When a person goes beyond their first line supervisor they rob that person of ever having a
chance at solving the problem at their level. Supervisors a higher levels have their own task they
have to tend to usually dealing with strategic matters and planning operations. Most are not
prepared to deal with simple issues that could ve been handled by the soldiers supervisor. It also
may take the time away from more important issues within that echelon. Reporting problems to
the supervisor at the lowest level is more effective for the organization. This structure is usually
used to establish control in larger organizations. If everyone in the ranks were able to report to
whom ever they wanted. It would be chaotic. Nothing would get done. This also leaves too for
subordinates complain about senseless inquiries. Using the proper chain is just for the
organization but for the individual as well. When the proper Chanel s are used. This is a good

Addison s Huge
Whether people mean to or not, at some point in their life they have made fun of someone. Some
people would say that it s better to make fun of people who do bad things rather than the ones
who are trying to accomplish great things. Joseph Addison states If the talent of ridicule were
employed to laugh men out of vice and folly, it might be of some use to the world; but instead of
this, we find that it is generally made use of to laugh at men out of virtue and good sense, by
attacking everything that is solemn and serious, decent and praiseworthy in human life. I partially
agree with Addison s statement because ridiculing someone for their positive actions can persuade
them to stop doing them and become insecure. I disagree with this statement because making fun of
jerks and bullies won t make them stop, and intelligent peoples with good ideas should be
determined no matter what.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it has swayed them towards the back of the crowd instead of leading it and being a good example.

Who Is The Character Of Saboteur
In the novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, King Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu
are in authority in France, each struggling to gain absolute power. As a result conflicts emerge that
will lead to the progress of France. France was constantly in external conflicts with England and in
internal conflicts with the Huguenots that provoked war against the Catholics and even the King,
but never against the Cardinal (Dumas, 1). Queen Anne s romance to the Duke of Buckingham,
who at the time was an enemy of France, was not unknown to the Cardinal, like nothing else that
escaped him from knowing it. The story s protagonist, D Artagnan faces the most dangerous spy of
the Cardinal, Lady de Winter. This lady is the one entrusted with the... Show more content on

The most public party was the royalists, consisting of those who favored the king in rule and most
importantly the company of the king s musketeers. The other was the Cardinalists which consisted
of those who supported Cardinal Richelieu, the Cardinal s guardsmen and his spies that covered
every part of the land. The king was only a figurehead during his early reign. The Cardinal was
one of the most powerful diplomats of his time. He is viewed more powerful than any other figure
including King Louis XIII himself. Musketeers, who belong to the king and nobody but the king,
are the natural enemies of the Guardsmen, who belong to the cardinal. (Dumas, 72) The rivalry is
also expressed between the Musketeers and the Cardinals guardsmen in their constant fights and
hatred between the two groups. As this conflict develops, the Cardinal gains more authority and the
power of the king gradually decrease even though the musketeers defeat the guardsmen. Instead of
the king having absolute control the Cardinal takes that favor.
The Siege of La Rochelle was one of the great political events of the reign of Louis XIII, and one
of the great military enterprises of the Cardinal (Dumas, 420). This was a battle or more of a war
between France and England. The Ruler of the English military was Duke of Buckingham, who
ruled England the same way that the Cardinal ruled France, and military strategist of

  • 5. The Different Differences Between Eastern And Western Culture The perspective of culture, however, might be quite relative. Since culture can be learned, obtained, adapted, and even transmitted from one society to another. Throughout the development of human race, culture may also rely on many variables, including knowledge, religion, customs, and habits. Therefore, Eastern and Western cultures mentioned below are relatively right in most circumstances, not all of them. It is widely believed that parent s own heritage can have a powerful impact on parenting style. Many people argue that the concept of individualism and collectivism is the primary difference between Eastern and Western culture(Nisbett, R. E., 2003). A list of 18 pairs of Eastern and Western cultural differences adapted by Rev. Tran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, kids above 12 years old would love to cuddle and have more attention from their parents. Conversely, teenagers may require more personal space where they can freely express their own traits, and perhaps, keep some of their own secrets. At this stage in life, Eastern parents may frequently emphasize on family unit since young adolescents gradually reveal the need of expressing their own image, making decisions by themselves rather than depending on family. Furthermore, at both stages given above, kids are expected to obey any sayings from the authority. There may be endless discussions about so many differences between the two cultures. Thus, this report will merely mention five pairs of different values between Eastern and Western culture drawn from the observations and some previous works. This is to further analyze the norms given by parents when bringing up their children. The pairs of values comprise of: passiveness versus assertiveness, hierarchy versus equality, restraint versus expressiveness, collectivism versus individualism, and the gift of family versus the gift of work (in retirement ... • 10. Educational Literacy in the Context of Environmental... Educational Literacy in the Context of Environmental Ethics ABSTRACT: I explore the concept of literacy and the role it might play in environmental ethics. One of the goals of environmental ethics is to describe and contribute to the creation of an ecologically responsible culture. The creation of such a culture requires the development of knowledge and abilities that will help sustain such a culture. Since education is one of the key institutions for instilling values and world views, it is important for environmental philosophers to think about the institutionalization of environmental theories in terms of their implications for the environmentally literate person. I argue that attention to literacy is significant for two reasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the utopian goal of many philosophers interested in environmental ethics is the creation of an environmentally responsible and just culture, it is incumbent upon us to think critically about how various environmental ethical positions might be integrated with and institutionalized within the existing societies we know and experience. In so far as we frame one goal of environmental ethics to be the nurturing of an ecological culture, we must begin to ask how such a culture can be brought about. Clearly, environmental values and priorities must be institutionalized within a responsible society. But this suggests that environmental philosophy needs to examine the role to be played by education and educational institutions in the development of an environmentally responsible society. Education plays a major role in fostering the abilities and values of citizens. We should, therefore, ask how environmental aspirations ought to affect the goals of education. I shall use the concept of literacy quite broadly to refer to the goals of the educational process. Environmental philosophers need to think through an image of the environmentally literate person as an integral part of doing environmental ethics. There are two reasons for saying this. First, environmental values must become an intimate part of the beliefs and aspirations of individual citizens if environmental responsibility is to grow in democratic soil and not from the imposition of what Andre Gorz ... • 11. Garveyism and Rastafarianism Essay Garveyism and Rastafarianism I. Introduction In the twentieth century, two movements have emerged out of Jamaica in protest of black oppression and slavery, both mental and physical. The first to evolve was Garveyism, founded by Marcus Garvey, and was born in the aftermath of the First World War. Rastafarianism was the second movement to emerge, lead by Leonard Howell during the depression years of the 1930 s. Garveyism and Rastafarianism are both resistance movements based on the same ideal: consciousness and essentialism of Africa and its descendants. The founding brethren of the Rastafari movement were Garveyites themselves, although not members of the Universal Negro Improvement Asscioation (UNIA), they agreed with and defended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Garvey s aim was to recontextualize particular aspects of seeming irreconcilable systems of Marxism/Leninism, monarchism, and even of National Socialism for the African of Africa American experience (Zips, 224). Garvey did not feel restricted by established political ideologies, instead he felt free to pick out the best attributes of every government. Ultimately, Garveyism hoped to develop the African continent into a modern network of nations, modeling it after the United States and Western Europe (Lewis, 146). Garvey established the UNIA in Jamaica in the year 1914, two years later he left for the United States in order to gain more momentum for his movement and spread the African unity he had started in Jamaica. Before leaving Jamaica, Garvey made a prophecy of sorts to his followers: Look into Africa for the crowning of a black king. He shall be the Redeemer (Barrett, 67). From this prediction stems most of the discrepancy between Garveyites and Rastafarians, something I will discuss later in this paper. The four main themes that the Garvey movement was built upon were 1) Africa for Africans at home and abroad, 2) unity, 3) self reliance, and 4) retaining their black pride in the presence of whites (Chevannes, 95). Garvey brought this ideology with him to the United States where he founded an American branch of the UNIA in 1917 and furthered his initiatives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We, as students of the present world, are fortunate enough to be able to take on a zoomed out perspective on this issue; but the same could not be done by Americans who lived through the beginning of the Atomic Age. They had far too little knowledge about an issue that had such overreaching implications; and whatever little knowledge they had were mostly incomplete or distorted. Many would argue that the NCAA provides a product that matches up with the professionals both competitively and financially. Persuasive Essay On Aerophobia Aggravating Aerophobia Huge fires burning up the runway, thousands of people screaming and running for their lives, but most of all the fear that you could have been one of them. Why would you not be afraid of flying, also known as aerophobia, when 583 people died in a single plane crash? On March 27,1977, plenty of us changed our minds about flying in planes and helicopters when the biggest plane crash in history occurred on the Los Rodeos Airport runway. Aerophobia affects umpteem people and could hold you back from life s many adventures. If you are one of the millions of sufferers of aerophobia, it may be helpful to know the origin, the causes of it, symptoms, and how to overcome it. Not the entire population knows what causes aerophobia, or even the origin of it, which could be terribly unhelpful if you are trying to overcome it. Actually, aerophobia could be from a countless number of other fears, either all combined together or just a single one. These can include the fears of combined spaces and heights. It can also be connected to any crashes, havoc, and other experiences you have heard of or been involved in. One other cause may be if you have a certain sickness, which would probably just embarrass you. Even if we can agree on what causes it, the origin is not very clear. According to sources, the actual word was first recorded from about 1765 1775. Later in time, near 1911, came the first known use of aerophobia. All in all, the causes of aerophobia vary ... Heteroglossia Heteroglossia Langue and linguistic variation Bakhtin developed the notion in contrast with the structuralist account of language, which was centered in the notion of langue, that is, the systematic set of rules determining the well formedness of an expression or utterance. This concept, introduced by Saussure, emphasised the notion that the code conformed by the linguistic norms must be common to all speakers for communication to be possible. This was seen as a dangerous simplification by Bakhtin, who asserted that languages are internally divided, not simply into regional dialects, but also into many different strata, corresponding to all possible axes of social division; he thus posited a minutely nuanced variety of class , ethnia , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He defines heteroglossia as another s speech in another s language, serving to express authorial intentions but in a refracted way. Bakhtin identifies the direct narrative of the author, rather than dialogue between characters, as the primary location of this conflict. Languages as points of view Bakhtin viewed the modern novel as a literary form best suited for the exploitation of heteroglossia, in direct contrast to epic poetry (and, in a lesser degree, poetry in general). The linguistic energy of the novel was seen in its expression of the conflict between voices through their adscription to different elements in the novel s discourse. Any language, in Bakhtin s view, stratifies into many voices: social dialects, characteristic group behavior, professional jargons, generic languages, languages of generations and age groups, tendentious languages, languages of the authorities, of various circles and of passing fashions. This diversity of voice is, Bakhtin asserts, the defining characteristic of the novel as a genre. Traditional stylistics, like epic poetry, do not share the trait of heteroglossia. In Bakhtin s words, poetry depersonalizes days in language, while prose, as we shall see, often deliberately intensifies difference between them... Extending his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These legal ramifications should be extended to people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates. The internet has radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a place to express free speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users in a negative way. This paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users misuse the idea of free speech on the internet and why we need to filter hate speechand introduce legal ramifications for these actions. Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over things they posted on the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their private time. In America, students are not supposed to lose their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students rights to free speech and privacy in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide both valuable education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years, educators have repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and administrators. • 27. Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind. The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. Her exposure to God most likely came from Naomi, Naomi s husband and Naomi s son. But considering this family initially left the Promised Land for a different life we can only speculate how faithful to God this family may have been. Solomon was King David s son raised in the knowledge of God and his covenants. Solomon may have even had first hand experience with his father praying to God. • 37. Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical Karl Marx and His Radical Views Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers who expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human person is part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power to have an immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the Industrial Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success as a species. Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in nature. In order to understand why his views were considered radical, it is important to understand his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx says that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only have time to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man becomes alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived day by day, by day and he has nothing else to really live for. Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the organization. In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal and all property would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is inevitable. Marx believed the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism was the only option[iv]. Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists, entrepreneurs, and existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v]. Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels, Fredriech Engels[vi] who was also Marx s best friend. It all started when the same summer morning, when my dad asked, Hey Gavin, you want to go to the Makers Fair at Union Station? I didn t know what he was talking about, so I asked him a few questions about what the makers fair was. He told me that it was a fair where people made products and technology. My dad stated, I wouldn t ask you if I didn t think you would like it. I was sure whether to say yes or no. After exploring for a while, my parents and I moved on to the next section. One of the most interesting things we saw was a rover made by students from the University of Missouri Science and Technology. A rover is a remote controlled robot on wheels designed to help humans complete certain tasks. Rovers have many different designs. This rover had six black wheels that were very flimsy. Above the wheels was a rectangular compartment that held the computers and power supply. The was also a pole with a camera on top, not a typical camera, but a small rectangular cube with flat lenses. I also a robotic arm on the front of the rover used to pick up move objects. This is the tragedy of two lovers who struggle to find ease in their life as they are in two opposing families. In the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, the major characters have very different views of love that they use to their advantage. Lord Capulet sets Juliet up with Paris for marriage which shows that he has trouble understanding what love is. He even told his wife that unworthy as she is, that we have wrought so worthy a gentleman to be her bride? (3.5.149 150). Lord Capulet expresses a lot of anger here because Juliet won t accept what he set er up with. This shows that Lord Capulet doesn t understand true love and that it is just about social status and looks. He is so fed up with Juliet that he even insults her saying that she should hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch (3.5.166). He is continually angry that Juliet can t accept her fate that is being with Paris as her husband. He may not know about Romeo and Juliet being together but he still doesn t give her a choice. Lord Capulet s finite view of how love works are not right and he uses it as a tool to build the family that he wants. In classical antiquity, in some aspects, a whore had more freedom and rights than a married upper class woman. This alone is evidence of the degree that women in classical antiquity were oppressed. Classical Greek Athenian women and Roman women had similarities in their life styles and expectations to become wives and mothers, but Roman women developed minor freedoms throughout the duration of the empire that Greek Athenian women did not possess. The only known exception to this are the women of Sparta, who had a unique level of freedom in the Greek world. Roman and Greek women were both under the protection of men, with their primary life goal being motherhood. (62, line 15. Find Roman citation here!) Greek women s marriageability was dependent on their dowry, and a woman was obliged to marry the men selected by her guardian. His trip was cut short, as he got word that Mckinley s condition had turned for the worse. Mckinley was pronounced dead September 14, 1901; subsequently, Roosevelt was sworn into the presidency, along with his progressive views. Although this was not the start of the conservation and preservation movements, extended from the late 19th through the early 20th century, it was a major step for the movement as Roosevelt had empathy for activists and nature. The combination of a movement and a president who was willing to move resulted in five national parks and 18 national monuments being established by the end of Roosevelt s presidency. After the establishment of these parks, the lands were to be preserved by federal government, but the political and economical agendas of those opposed to the conservation and preservation movements still endangered the pristine land.
