The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM
Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst
other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within
Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years.
Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it
does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can
be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc.
Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that
informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent.
Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder.
Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a
deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in
Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always
possible.
Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the
Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated
time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times.
There are different schools of

The Importance Of Traditional Family Values
Traditional family values comprise a number of different values and beliefs held in high esteem
regarding family life. Chief among the values is an emphasis on a loving, lifelong marriage, with the
male as the breadwinner and the wife as the mother and homemaker. Traditionally, members who
follow these values oppose premarital sex, easy access to contraceptive information, and abortions, as
most of these in some way or another are viewed as sins. Prior to the 1970s, traditional family values
didn t play a large role in American politics, and instead mainly influenced family life. Beginning in
the 1970s, however, this changed as these values became a catchphrase and political platform of the
American right. From Ronald Reagan to Pat Robertson, Conservatives couldn t comment on the
decline of the family enough. How, then, did these values become such an integral part of of political
life, as opposed to remaining private matters? The answer lies in the 1960s. From the 1940s to the
early 1960s, after both World War II and The Great Depression, Americans were more eager than ever
to establish families. Following traditional family values, these couples set a trend for earlier
marriages with a greater number of kids than those of Europe during the same time period.
Consequently, divorce rates dipped as many families found stability, peace, and love within these
marriages. The heterosexual man of the relationship was typically the breadwinner, working during
the day to provide

Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes
Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in
our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every negotiation
involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem solving. In the
book Getting to Yes , the authors have not only identified the key issues in the traditional negotiation
process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually acceptable agreements.
The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize that
the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over their
opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of the
participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective
negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have clearly
highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be efficient and
should not damage the existing relationship. A positional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As negotiators we should try to address the core concern behind emotions (autonomy, appreciation,
affiliation, role and status are some of the major concerns) and should ensure we do not knowingly or
unknowingly threaten the self image of the other person. The authors mention that instead of hiding
the emotions, it s wise to share them as both the parties may then jointly work to address those
emotions. This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may sometimes lead
to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. These emotional issues can however be
handled with simple gestures like an apology or a sympathy

First Grade Music Program Analysis
Today was like any other day, but today we was a first grade music program that night. Before the
program started I was get ready to go and about 1 hour or so me and my brother and some friends

the house when my brother skated down a big hill. When my brother went down, another one of my

Essay On Earthquakes And Earthquakes
Where are earthquakes and volcanoes found? Volcanoes and earthquakes have been known to man for
thousands of years, but until fairly recently their distribution on the globe was thought of as totally
haphazard with each event an isolated phenomenon. Yet, if the positioning of the world s volcanoes is
considered, it can be seen that most volcanoes are situated within several hundred kilometres of the
sea, and moreover, that the regions of volcanic activity are concentrated into several girdles or bands
circling the Earth. Most notable amongst these are the so called Ring of Fire surrounding the Pacific
Ocean (see figure 1), and the more tenuous and disjointed line running down the centre of the Atlantic
Ocean. Throughout geological history, igneous activity has been restricted in the same way, as studies
of ancient igneous rocks show. Similarly, earthquakes do not occur randomly over the whole surface
of the Earth. Their epicentres also fall into welldefined bands girdling the planet, and in fact, seismic
and volcanic activity are well correlated so that bands of concentration for each coincide (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Map of the world showing the location of tectonic plate boundaries, volcanoes, hot spots,
and earthquake zones. Note how the majority of seismic and volcanic events are concentrated on plate
boundaries. Tectonic plates and their boundaries These concentrations of geological activity actually

Portrayal Of Female Heroines From Disney s Cartoon Heroines
Not many companies can influence the childhood development of many Americans like the Walt
Disney Company. Disney, named after their founder, began as just an animation studio called The
Walt Disney Studios, which the company describes as the foundation on which The Walt Disney
Company was built . Today, Disney produces various items targeted at children like toys, clothing, and
animation ( Company ). In the paper, Images of Animated Others: The Orientalization of Disney s
Cartoon Heroines From The Little Mermaid To The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Celeste Lacroix of the
College of Charleston assesses the portrayal of female heroines from Disney animated films that
depicts human main characters, examining the sexualization of non European or the exotic others, and
brings to light Disney s strategy to instill an attitude of consumerism in children. Despite my
memorable sentiment with Disney animations as a child, I agree with Lacroix s assertion that Disney
impose consumerism onto children, especially with DVD commercials, tie in products and apps on
smartphones and tablets.
Starting off her paper, Lacroix begins with an anecdote of her visit to a theater s premier of The Lion
King. Within her anecdote, Lacroix remarks that a toddler...began shouting with glee for the character
Timon from The Lion King, which Lacroix found concerning as the toddler was all too aware even
before the movie started playing (213 214). Lacroix directs attention to the repeated exposure of

The Quick Service Food Industry
Americans love efficiency, and they love to eat, thus, the reason for the quick service food industry
(QSR). The restaurant industry has been slightly unstable as the economy climbs out of recession, and
families slowly gain income to allow for a night to dine out. As a whole, the restaurant industry
everything from full service to fast food accounts for 47% of this year s food dollar share, while
supermarkets claim the majority, accounting for 53%. Within the restaurant industry, fast food
restaurants were the only sub industry to show positive guest traffic in the first quarter with a .8%
increase, as compared to 2013.
Because QSR is an oligarchy industry a few companies dominate the market: McDonald s, Chick fil a,
Burger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the companies that have experimented with this concept, they have found success in frequently
changing the deals offered. Moreover, these deals offered by the restaurants encourage the consumer
to purchase more while at the store; same store sales in fast food restaurants increased 1.6% in January
of 2014, and 3.2% by April. Still, the industry is experiencing pressure from lack of sales, and to
counteract this, McDonalds CEO, Donald Thompson, and CFO, Peter Bensen, announced in April
2014 that the company will be cutting costs in factors of production, but no specifics were released.
Yum! Brand doesn t feel the heat with their worldwide sales growth of 4% in the 1st quarter of 2014;
their brands include KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizzahut. Other chains are searching for alternatives to
expand their companies and increase profit. Panera Bread and Chipotle have ventured into the catering
industry, which at the fast food level has few competitors. They now offer their products in large
quantities for events, and Chipotle even offers a customizable option no salsa on your burrito, no
problem. Chipotle implemented this idea in January of 2013; as of May 2014 they ve seen comparable
sales grow 13.4%. Some chains took an alternative approach to increase sales by selling branded
goods; for example, Dunkin Donuts sells their brand of coffee, as does Starbucks.
Many companies are still healing from the blow of the 2008 recession.

Separtion of Church and State Essay
The Constitution of the United States was written to give citizens certain privileges and rights in the
way of free thought and freedom. The Establishment Clause was one way that civilians were
protecting religious liberty by the separation of church and state. Within our political and school
systems there have been a number of controversial issues to include religious holidays, school prayer,
teaching evolution and aid to church based schools. The Supreme Court has ruled in many cases in
regards to these religious controversial issues. The First Amendment states Congress shall make no

Blacks questioned the state s interest in expeditiously and safely getting the kids to the schools
needed. In the end it was ruled to get the kids to school safely. Often in parochial schools parents are
given vouchers to help pay for private schools. Some say this is an issue regarding the Establishment
clause. In 1973 Committee for Public Education v. Nyquist, the high court invalidated a New York
state program that provided tuition reimbursements to poor parents whose children attended private
schools, 85% of which were religious (Leaming, n.d.). The courts ruled that New York had a primary
effect of advancing religion. Since Nyquist the voucher programs are one step closer to being
recognized as constitutional through the Supreme Court. The Constitution permits vouchers to be
available for both religious and private schools through the government. School vouchers also raised
arguments from opponents and proponents. Opponents raised concern that talented students were
pulled from public schools which lowered their quality of learning while the proponents claimed their
children would receive a much better education. In 1962 Engel Et Al v. Vitale Et Al case were Prayer

Qualitative Research Study And Action Research Essay
Introduction
Qualitative research plays an important role in evidenced based practice. Qualitative research often lay
down the platform for added official quantitative studies or a follow up to a broad quantitative study.
Qualitative research is a subjective design that investigates exceptional life concepts in a naturalistic
setting using narrative descriptions as the findings (Polit Beck, 2017). There are six general types of
qualitative research designs, namely phenomenological, ethnographic, historical, grounded theory,
case study and action research, each one of these research design studies distinct human experiences
phenomena (Polit Beck, 2017). The phenomenological research design studies the human
understanding or knowledge base through descriptions that are afforded from lived experiences while
the ethnographic design comprises data collection and analysis related to cultural groups (Polit Beck,
2017). Qualitative research is opposite of quantitative research, quantitative research counts on
numerical and measurable with scales, tools, and intervention, it focuses on tightly controlled
variables in a structured setting to provide explanation of laws and qualitative design is more flexible
with variables and wants to understand the participants behaviors (Polit Beck, 2017).
Validity in Qualitative Research Designs
Qualitative research validity relates to the dependability and trustworthiness of data, events, and
activities as indicated from research

Decisions, Decisions
We all have seen how in the movies, the main characters decide to take on the situation presented in

These actions can be defined through the term Utilitarianism. In detail, on Utilitarianism, it is a theory
in which it is a concern action that will result the utmost amount of pleasure, or happiness, to the vast

The Discovery And Consumption Of Coffee Essay
Imagine waking up Saturday morning. It s a chilly day while the sun is barely rising and you re tug in

history that you have never wondered or asked yourself like many of us. Most of us drink coffee for
many reason, but not many know the history behind the discovery of coffee. It might not be in the

greater view of its early discovery and consumption. I drink coffee at least every morning to wake me

coffee in the early years. Coffee is not just a typical drink it has a long history behind it and it shapes

Attempting to understand poetry is not something that I am able to do, but I ll attempt to figure out
what they mean. The first poem that I will attempt to analyze is Shakespeare 18 sonnet. The sonnet is
something that I have read in my years in school, but it s not something I ve tried to analyze. The
poem is part of Shakespeare midsummers dream, and it s one of the first parts of the play. While
reading the 18th sonnet I recognized quite a bit of metaphors used to create imagery and draw the
reader in. The entire sonnet is a comparison of a lover to a summers day. Shakespeare writes Thou art
more lovely and more temperate , to say that the lover is calmer and more enjoyable than a summers
day. He also writes but thy eternal summer shall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passionate Shepard is being read as if it s being spoken by a shepherd who s talking to the love of
his life. Knowing that the speaker in the poem is a shepherd already gives me an imaginary in my
head, but it s enhanced by the visual descriptions given in the poem. Without the use of words, such as
we will all the pleasure prove that valleys, groves, hills and field woods, or steep mountain yield, I
wouldn t have such a clear image about where the shepherd is. The use of language and imagery and
knowing who the speaker is does help me to understand the poem better, because now I understand
why to show his passion he is offering her posies, a gown of wool, and valleys. Marlowe s The
Passionate Shepherd to His Love was a bit easier to read aloud because the words flowed easier for
me. I that s because it had an easier rhyme scheme than Shakespeare 18th sonnet, which I had to read
three times so it didn t sound as foreign to me. The tone of the poem isn t forceful, but it s also not
light, there is a fever to the way he is trying to convince the women to become his lover. The things he
promises her in the beginning of the poem sound light and sweet, but toward the end the tone becomes
more passionate. The tone and rhyme scheme are important to the poem because they help set the
mood for the reader and help the reader understand what the poem means or is attempting to say. The

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Animal Farm
Two visions; Different Results
In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm he asserts that following blindly , will lead to government
abuse and corruption. Orwell s assertion brings life to the philosophy that a utopian atmosphere can
never exist. Orwell s purpose is to deliver the idea of communism not being successful and to make
the audience reading not want to get into communism. George Orwell informs the young audience of
the danger with communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal
Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr. and the character,
Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality between the two figures is they both had a
vision or dream of inspiring the masses of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of
people. Despite having so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well.
Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were being overworked
by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the other side, the blacks, during the
Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks
had restrictions to their rights in the idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the
whites did.
The historical figure Martin Luther King Jr. had many similarities and differences with the character in
Animal Farm, Old Major. Both individuals had visions of rebellion but Martin Luther had the
mentality of peaceful rebellion, while olf major wanted violence. The significant events between
Martin Luther King Jr. and Old Major was the Beasts of England speech and the I have a Dream
speech. Old Major used Beasts of England to show the animals his vision or dream for the farm. Also,
Martin Luther King Jr. used I have a Dream to bring light to the idea of black rights. Old Major and
Martin Luther King Jr. both had both a goal in their mind for what they want there atmosphere to be.

The Importance Of Word Superiority On Word Recognition
The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the effects of word frequency and superiority on word
recognition when considering three models of lexical access with these being the logogen, frequency
ordered bin search (FOBS) and TRACE models. Included in this analysis empirical proof from
research studies will be considered. It is vital to understand the relevance of the word frequency and
superiority effects before contemplating their role in the models of lexical access. Word frequency is
often associated with Balota and Chumbley (1984) as their research, comprising of three experiments
using 20 participants, demonstrates that the time taken to respond to a high frequency, commonly
occurring words was shorter than that of a low frequency when recognising words. Contrasting this,
Mosell, Doyle and Haggard (1989) observed this effect on a lexical decision and then a semantic
categorisation task. Their findings demonstrate that word frequency and response time are equally
related in all tasks involving word identification. Balota and Chumbley (1990) responded to the
criticism as they remain confident in their own findings supporting the view that word frequency
demonstrates that words we encounter on a daily basis require a shorter response time. The purpose of
the word superiority effect is explored in Reicher s (1969) study which used 9 female students. After
being extensively tested via forced choice letter recognition on ability to recognise varying stimuli (4

Essay On Why The Voting Age Should Be Abolished
Sweet 16 in North America, it marks the point of transition into adulthood, and it is much the same in
Australia. While 18 is considered the legal age in Australia, 16 year olds have been given many legal
rights, such as learning to drive, being employed, and even being able to leave school. So what about
being able to vote at elections? Following federal Labor leader, Bill Shorten s stance on lowering the
voting age in Australia to 16, I too feel for the need to allow more of the younger population of
Australia to participate in elections, and as Australians, so should you.
Here are the reasons why.
The current minimum voting age, 18, also marks the year of chaos and pressure for many young
Australians. 18 is the time when many complete high school and continue to embark on university,
TAFE or even full time employment. It s the time when many leave home and move to new and
unfamiliar environments, and it is certainly the time when waves of stress that accompany the
beginning of adulthood come crashing in for the first time. With all of the changes occurring in an 18
year old s life, having to adjust with the new responsibility of voting at elections ... Show more

This can certainly be true for some people in this age group, but definitely not all, and the problem of
having little knowledge about how the government works is far from being limited to this specific age
group. In fact, there is no doubt that people of all age groups in Australia, even those who have been
voting at elections for years on end, have a lack of political knowledge and show disinterest in this
field. With the rise of political discussion amongst social media, it can even be said that some 16 year
olds are much more involved in political issues, of which is evident in their complex and heated
debates about the government on social

Foreign Aid For Economic And Humanitarian Development...
Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian
development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the initiation
of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an improvement in the
economic standing in the region from both the international community and majority of the
Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied Gaza Strip and West
Bank has in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo Accords. Although there
have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been far more long term and
complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United States, were not able to
effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian economy. The inability of
the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian development within Palestine is the
result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and blockades, the unintentional
implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and political patronage.
Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian assistance
to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military occupation and
blockades in the occupied West Bank. Palestine has been allocated approximately $5 billion in U.S.
bilateral economic assistance post the Oslo

Third Wave Feminism
Have you ever seen a slut walk? I mean women walk around naked saying that they are not asking for
attention. Feminism originated in New York, 1848. The first wave of feminism in the United States
began with the Seneca Falls Convention, the first women s rights convention, held at the Wesleyan
Chapel in Seneca Falls, New York, on July 19 and 20, 1848. (Encyclopedia of Women and Religion in
North America:) Third Wave Feminism started in the mid 90 s. ( Four Waves of Feminism. ) More
women hate third wave feminism than men. Third Wave Feminism claims that North America is a
rape culture, that women are always right, and that all men are the same. We have no need for Third
Wave Feminism. Although people may claim that we need Third Wave Feminism in the United States
there are many reasons to prove that we indeed do not need this cancer in our country. Feminism is
Cancer Milo Yiannopoulos. Rape Culture is a term that was coined by feminists in the United States in
the 1970 s. It was designed to show the ways in which society blamed victims of sexual assault and
normalized male sexual violence. ( What is Rape Culture? ) We re told that 1 in 5 women will be

Meridian, by Alice Walker
The women of the late sixties, although some are older than others, in Alice Walker s fiction that
exhibit the qualities of the developing, emergent model are greatly influenced through the era of the
Civil Rights Movement. Motherhood is a major theme in modern women s literature, which examines
as a sacred, powerful, and spiritual component of the woman s life. Alice Walker does not choose
Southern black women to be her major protagonists only because she is one, but because she had
discovered in the tradition and history they collectively experience an understanding of oppression
that has been drawn from them a willingness to reject the principle and to hold what is difficult.
Walker s most developed character, Meridian, is a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meridian s quest for wholeness and her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement is initiated by her
feelings of failure in living up to the standards of black motherhood. Meridian gives up her son
because she believes she will destroy his growth with guilt and she has her tubes tied after a painful
abortion (pg. 133). Walker investigated the idea of an African American structure of motherhood, as
she develops the protagonist, Meridian, who at first believes she cannot properly fulfill the
responsibility.
The author entered the conflict about the value of motherhood in which American feminists were then,
as they are now, engaged. Motherhood is also seen as a moral transformation, as a woman comes to
terms with being different in that she ceases to be an independent individual because she is one way or
the other attached to another her baby (FPS). Barbara Christian writes that Walker combines the forces
of traditional and feminist perspectives on motherhood, attempting a compromise that would allow the
protagonist to survive:
As many radical feminists blamed motherhood for the waste in women s lives and saw it as a dead end
for a woman, Walker insisted on a deeper analysis: She did not present motherhood itself as
restrictive. It is so because of the little value society places on children, especially black children, on
mothers, especially black mothers, on life itself. In the novel, Walker acknowledged that a mother in
this society is often buried

The And Estuaries During The Gulf Coast Essay
The marshlands and estuaries located throughout the Gulf Coast provide important breeding grounds
and nurseries for the fishing and shrimping industries. In 2008, according to the National Marine
Fisheries Service, the commercial fish and shellfish harvest from the five U.S. Gulf states was
estimated to be 1.3 billion pounds valued at $661 million. Oil spills are extremely harmful to marine
life when they occur and often for years or even decades later, said Jacqueline Savitz, a marine
scientist and climate campaign director at Oceana, an environmental group. She said spills could coat
sea birds and limit their flying ability and damage fisheries by injuring marine organism s systems
related to respiration, vision and reproduction. Savitz said that the Gulf of Mexico is host to four
species of endangered sea turtles and bluefin tuna, snapper and grouper. Each of these can be affected,
she said. Turtles have to come to the surface to breathe and can be coated with oil or may swallow it.
And, she added, the Gulf is one of only two nurseries for bluefin tuna, more than 90 percent of which
return to their place of birth to spawn.

need of it, and overall it is the reason why animals started becoming in endangered. Real fur is no
longer needed in today s society, and we should move past this phase. Some of the most popular and
expensive products uses real fur and/or animals skins to manufacture their products. Most people don t

Angelman syndrome can be diagnosed within the first year of the life if the abnormalities are noticed
and investigated, but the disorder is more often diagnosed between 1 and 4 years of age as the child s
abnormalities become more clinically apparent (Bevinetto). In order to confirm the diagnosis, a blood
test must be done to look at the child s genetics (Angelman). Then, a combination of genetic test can
reveal the chromosome defects. There are three different defect tests may reveal: parental DNA
pattern, missing chromosome, or gene mutation. Parental DNA pattern test screens for three of the
four genetic defaults that cause this syndrome. To find out if the chromosome is missing either a
fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) test or a comparative genomic hybridization test (CGH) can
show if portions of chromosomes are missing. It is rare if Angelman syndrome occurs with only a
gene mutation. This happens when the UBE3A gene is present and active, but mutated. A UBE3A
gene sequencing test is used to look for maternal mutation (Mayo). After the diagnosis is complete,
treatments are discussed with the patient and their

Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization
Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to
operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many
countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their countries.
According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately 35.6% of all
clothing and shoes sold in the United States were actually manufactured in China, compared to just
3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the globalization of the economy
for not only domestic economic growth, but also international economic growth. Some people think
globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy among people and nations. However, it
creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First of all, even though globalization has made
the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer, the globalization of the economy can
influence many people positively. Through international trade, people can acquire cheaper goods and
services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour are cheaper in developing countries,
businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if they were made domestically. As a result,
we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies which produce cell phones, televisions, and
other electronic devices built factories in China and Vietnam to manufacture their products. In
addition to obtaining cheap goods and services, globalization can contribute to more job opportunities
overseas. Increased globalization influences the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people
can get new jobs which were not popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific
jobs, such as market research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1
million people because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows
people to have the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own
country because of world trade. Some countries do not have the ability to create certain goods
domestically, such as mangoes, avocados, bananas, papayas, etc.

How The Gap Between Healthcare And Technology And Help The...
ABSTRACT
Healthcare sector is facing plethora of challenges ranging from poor infrastructure to population
explosions, large masses of population shifting from rural to urban area etc. Traditional facilities
makes user confined thus restricts user movement especially elderly people. Our goal is to increase
medical efficiency and reduce burden on healthcare infrastructure. We intend to create a prototype of a
self sufficient health monitoring system which requires low investment for development and provide
quality healthcare at the same time. For proposed system, Arduino Mega 2560 processor is used along
with various sensors and data transmission system. Sensors used are accelerometer, body temperature,
heart rate and Electrocardiogram which gives basic patient monitoring data. Attached LCD displays
various health related parameters. Interactive mobile app is developed on android platform which
displays parameters. Received data can be transmitted remotely for further analysis also help doctors
monitor overall health of their patient remotely while transmission system ensures safety during
critical times. Through our project, we want to bridge the gap between healthcare and technology and
help the masses stay fit and healthy.
INTRODUCTION
Current methods of providing medical assistance are based on person physically present in the
hospital and constantly monitor physiological parameters. Lack of number of doctors is the major
problem in most of the hospitals especially in

Summary Of Maggie Stiefvater s Shiver
The book I chose to read was Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.
The story is set in the cold months of October and December, with flashbacks to summertime. It is set
in modern day America on the border of Canada and the fictional town of Mercy falls, Minnesota. The
book mostly surrounds Boundary Woods, were the wolf pack lives; the Crooked Shelf, a bookstore;
and Duluth, another busy town bordering Mercy Falls.
The story is set in present day, probably in early 2000s because there are no smart phones and not all
teens have a phone like most people today.
The story is narrated by two teenagers: Grace and Sam.
The story s protagonists are Grace Brisbane, a seventeen year old girl, and Sam Roth, an eighteen year
old boy. Grace was bitten by wolves when she was eleven but she does not fear them. In fact, for the
past six years, she has had an infatuation with one wolf who visits her most days during the winter.
This wolf has yellow eyes and turns out to be Sam. Sam was bitten by a wolf at the age of seven and
becomes a wolf when it turns cold outside. He is not a werewolf, but he is not a human or a wolf. He
refers to himself as just Sam because he feels he is not wolf or human. Even though Grace was bitten,

Herbert Spencer was born in England, he is best known for developing and applying the
evolutionary theory to philosophy and psychology. The evolutionary theory states that societies

they are.

Spencer compared societies by categorizing race and culture, which he viewed at one
term. Spencer felt race and culture were not different enough to be classified as two different
terms. Spencer believed that every race that belonged to a society is the same as the next, but some are
more evolved then others. A simple society developed into a complex society through prospective
steps. A society
can go only from simple to complex. The only time a society could go from complex to simple
was if a national disaster occurred, but he explained that the most evolved society would develop
back at a faster rate. Boaz was a Jewish German American anthropologist and ethnologist. His theory
on
social evolution stated that no truly pure race existed and no race is innately superior to any
other. He confirmed the differences in peoples were the result of historical, social and
geographic conditions and all people had equally developed cultures. Boaz was objective. He lived
within different societies around the world while collecting
data on everything he saw, from language, customs and history. He concluded that a society can
survive through corporation just as well as a society can through competition. How a society
survives depends on it s psychological conditions, what satisfies their human needs. No matter

One societal theme that this film emphasizes is the insufficiency of adulthood. While most of us like
to believe that becoming an adult gives us all the answers, it doesn t. Even in adulthood, many of us

were in their childhood. Take Auntie Em as an example. She can t do anything to prevent Toto from

Social Disorganization Theory Of Crime
Crimes are offensive acts committed by individuals or organizations that are unlawful and punishable
in accordance to a state s laws (Gehring, 2017). Acts of crime in most countries around the world
including the United States have caused more injuries, loss of property, and death as compared to a
collection of other events such as natural disasters. The social disorganization theory is a notable
example of concept that explains why different places experience different levels and cases of crime.
This essay will explore the theory s tenets, summarize an empirical test that supports it, and identify
its various strengths and weaknesses. It will also describe the assumed notions of the policy behind the
theory.
The theory was introduced by Clifford Shaw and Henry D. McKay in the year 1942. The two while
utilizing spatial maps in examining the residential location from where the cities different juveniles
resided discovered Chicago s crime rate was highly concentrated in specific regions of the town. The
rate of crime in different parts of the city remained stable for a long time despite the changes in
population over time. They realized that factors such as the race of a population did not majorly
influence crime. Shaw and McKay claimed that crime rates of different regions were a credited to

Puppy Mill California Essay
CALIFORNIA BECOMES THE FIRST STATE TO BAN PUPPY
MILLS.
California becomes the first state in the US to put an end to puppy mills.
According to the new laws, pet stores have to work with NGOs, animal shelters or rescue operations
in order to sell a dog, cat or rabbit.
Puppy mills or puppy farms are places where the animals are bred for sale and profit. Every year
thousands of animals are born in unhygienic and filthy conditions in puppy mills which further causes
diseases and death of the animal. Puppy mills have always been criticized as they only work for profit
and do not keep animal welfare in mind. The animals are often excessively bred and kept in over
crowded dog farms. Sometimes the animal has often developed certain diseases or ailments ... Show

Matt Bershadker, president and CEO of the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said: This landmark law breaks the puppy mill supply chain that
pushes puppies into California pet stores and has allowed unscrupulous breeders to profit from
abusive practices.
Governor Jerry Brown who passed this considerate law has currently passed no comment on his
verdict.
In February this year, it was also made illegal to sell puppies below eight weeks old as this is a very
crucial time for both the mother and kids and it is for the best of the pups stay with the mother during
this crucial time.
Anyone selling a litter of three or more pups would also have to apply for a formal license to go ahead
for the practice. This ensures proper and humane treatment of the animals. Often breeder abuse
animals for their profit and are bred imprudently even when their bodies can not handle pregnancy.
Most of them are also bred at an early age only for the sole purpose of more than desired profit and
human greed.
Although the decision did not go without any criticism as some of the breeders felt strongly against it
and showed their unhappiness

Birth order and personality traits
Birth order and personality traits
Birth order and personality traits are very negotiable because the past and present life situation have a
big role in how an individual will turn out, but if it s an average Joe family then I wouldn t be
surprised if they were like what has been studied and concluded for obvious reasons. All of the traits
one can have are unlimited depending on the type of parents, environment, and there intelect. These
things can either be good or bad, still depending on the person and their thought process.

way) which makes it easy to blend in with my surroundings and just roll with it ( words from Birth

So making the peace is all right with me.
Suppresion of feelings was a big issue in the past because I would just bottle it up and explode, just
completely freak out. It was intense, but like I said your traits really depend on the situation because I
no longer have that problem. Since I no longer supress everything I can just chill and stay calm, care
free, and roll with it
My agreements with the list of personality traits was moderatly accurate but still missing vital traits
that I am excelled in. So this is my dissagrees and whatever else may be in here.
I am Super creative with a capital s because I have a huge list of creative things I do and I will list all
of them: I make lots music in all kinds of genres clear from techno to punk rock and I have many
contacts that I work with and we make magic happen. I also am an artist and I find that I am excelling
in this profession daily and not only that but I make all my art with a little aid and the rest with pure
imagination. I can write pretty well, for example, what I m doing now is pretty awesome if I do say so
myself.
From what almost all of the experts say I should feel left out in my family, but it s the exact opposite
because I get an equal amount of attention as everyone else and I don t like much attention anyway so
that may be a factor as well. My little brother does get a lot of attention... in the wrong way. So I guess

Prelude To A Kiss
Prelude to a Kiss by Craig Lucas, is about a newly married couple that experiences a supernatural
event that will test their love and commitment towards each other. This play was a very interesting and
comedic read. Prelude to a kiss is a play any audience would enjoy and get something out of it .
Therefore, UNI ought to produce Prelude to a Kiss next year or at least soon. It is a great romantic
comedy for the audience to see and will leave the audience appreciating their life more. Prelude to a
Kiss is set in the modern times, probably around the 1990 s for it has some modern elements but some
of the jokes they give or things they talk about seem dated. The time span of the play is the time it
takes to perform it, but it usually has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author Craig Lucas never gave an explanation on why there was a supernatural element just there
was one and it made the conflict. Beside the supernatural aspect there was some spirituality in the
play. Craig Lucas never mentioned in the play that they were religious but they had a christian
wedding so there must have a spiritual element in there beside the supernatural. The language of the
play was very modern, but when Rita and the Old Man changed bodies, the Old Man would say many
oldish sayings or just many things that didn t fit with how Rita and Peter talked. Also, many times
when one of the characters were speaking, other characters speak over them so they did a lot of
overlapping. At times it was kind of confusing and chaotic but it just added a human element. The way
they spoke made them seem nervous and willing to fill up empty void as to not have awkward
silence. The nature of the play was very evident in the script. Peter was the only one who ever
acknowledged the audiences, in fact he spoke directly to the audience in several different occasions.
So this play has a presentational contract with a non realistic vibe due to having a supernatural
occurrence happen on stage. Craig

A Statistical Test Essay
We live in a scientific world were the results of published research findings can dictate our very
existence. Yet, there is an increasing body of evidence that suggest that most publish research findings
are false (Ioannidis, 2005 page 0696). How can this be true? Part1: According to Ioannidis (2005), the
pre study probability of a relationship being true is R/ (R + 1). Where R is the ratio of the number of
true relationships to no relationships among those tested in the field (page 0696). The Null Hypothesis
(Ho) is what you want to disprove, what you want to prove to be not true. The Alternative hypothesis
(HA) on the other hand is what you want to prove to be true. Thus, in scientific research we are
looking to prove that relationships are true or to prove that they are not true. The power of a statistical
test is defined as the ability of the test to lead to a conclusion to accept the HA when in fact, the HA is
true (Wirtz, 2013). Also, since the probability of a statistical study depends on the prior probability,
statistical power, and the level of the observed P value, it means that the probability of a study finding
a true relationship is the power of 1 β (one type two error (Ioannidis, 2005 page 0696). Also, type 1
error is the probability of incorrectly rejecting a null hypothesis that should not be rejected (Wirtz,
2013). Factors that negatively affect the probability of true relationships are small studies, smaller
effect sizes, in a scientific field,

Comparing Richard Cory and Miniver Cheevy Essays
In Edwin Arlington Robinson s poems, Richard Cory and Miniver Cheevy the main characters are
portrayed as outcasts. Both are shunned from society neither having any real friends. Though these
characters have some similarities, the way in which Robinson portrays them is very different. Richard
Cory is admired by his peers, where as, Miniver Cheevy is opposite; people look down on him. One
man appearing to have everything takes his own life, while the other appearing to have nothing
accepts his misery.
For Richard Cory, the saying money can t buy happiness, could not be more appropriate. He is,
according to the people of the town, the man with everything. Everyone wished they could be more
like him, he had everything to make us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tried to speak to the people on the pavement however he fluttered pulses when he said Good
Morning . The people on the pavement put Richard Cory on a pedestal and therefore could not speak
to him. They envied him and hated him they wanted his life so easy, so simple, and so happy. They
continued to work and hope that one day they too could be as rich and as happy as Richard Cory,
hating him even more everyday they went without meat . Then Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
went home and put a bullet through his head . One calm summer night implies there was nothing
special or unusual about that particular night, it was the same as any other and yet the town s
god/outcast, commits suicide, for apparently no reason. Robinson gives no insight into Cory s mind,
we can only assume he was so miserable that he could not bear to go another day, with the people on
the pavement looking at him and hating him more and more. The tone of Richard Cory is upbeat until
the unexpected end; in contrast Miniver Cheevy has a negative tone from the first line, Miniver
Cheevy, child of scorn . Scorn implies hatred, disdain contempt and misery. He assailed the seasons

Essay On Option Pricing
Option Pricing
Paper trading really helps you grasp the fundamentals, However, when buying and selling options in
the open marketplace with real money, things change quite a bit. During your simulations I bet you
wondered about option pricing. If you wanted to geek out, you could use a complicated formula like
the infamous Black and Scholes equations. Instead of eating aspirin by the hand full, let s just focus on
the basics. An option is a derivative, which means that it is based on the value of another asset. Thus,
the stock price or underlying asset is an important feature in determining the pricing. When you want
to buy a stock, you want to buy it for a cheap as possible, this works the same way for options. Here
are the factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You make money with an option if there is a favorable change in price of the underlying asset, but this
must happen before expiration. Therefore, the longer the lifetime of the option, the better chance there
is for that opportunity. Generally, the more time remaining on an option makes it worth more
However, there is also more time for the stock to move in an unfavorable direction as well.
TYPE OF OPTION:
The type of option (put or call) is also highly relevant to pricing. Calls are expected to increase in
value as the price of the underlying asset increases. While puts are expected to increase in value as the
underlying asset s price decreases. The other factors discussed can also affect the option. Options for
stocks that pay a dividend are often worth less because the dividend is priced into the option.
VOLATILITY: Some would argue that volatility is the greatest factor in determining the price of an
option in the marketplace. Realistically, all of the other factors, strike price, type, interest rates,
dividend, are known, where volatility isn t. Since options are derivatives, stocks and options are
interconnected. For either investment, volatility is one of the most important elements to consider. As
an option buyer, you can use historical movements in price to make some projections. However,
option prices are based on IV implied volatility. Implied volatility, most often

Shiba Inu Essay
Shiba Inu
Shiba Inu is a dog breed that originates from Japan and is one of the distinct spitz types of breeds. It is
the smallest of the original spitz breeds and breeder who originally bred it wanted to have a good
hunting dog hence it is bred for hunting especially in Japans thick forests and mountain areas. The
Shiba Inu is also known as the Japanese Shiba Inu or the Shiba Ken but it is at easy to confuse with
the Akita Inu and the Hokkaido which are also Japanese dog breeds. The Shiba is generally smaller
compared to other dog breeds that originate from Japan and it has a different temperament.
Being a hunting dog, the Shiba is a small but strong and agile dog that has powerful well developed
muscles. Males are slightly larger than females ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The white Shiba Inu remains a beautiful dog and some dog owners will prefer the white one compared
to colored Shiba Inus.
Black Shiba Inu
This is a Shiba Inu that has a black coat. Rarely do you find an entirely black Shiba Inu, but rather
they are usually black and tan. Black Shiba Inu is more popular compared to the white Shiba Inu due
to the fact that for the black one, the Urajiro is visible and this is considered to be a mark of beauty for
the dog. Born black, the parts of the dog where the Urajiro is will continuously fade until it is
completely visible.
The Urajiro appears on the side of its jaws, under the jaw itself, on the neck and chest as well as the
stomach and the underside of the dog. It is also visible on the fore chest and goes down to the shoulder
joints. The different parts of the coat that have different colors usually have a high contrast to each
other making the black Shiba Inu look amazing and this is why most breeders will insist that it is
standard for a Shiba Inu to have the Urajiro present so as to be allowed to take part in a dog

Investigating The Combined Heat Transfer
I. Abstract:
The main objectives of this experiment are to determine the combined heat transfer (Qr + Qc) from a
horizontal cylinder in natural convection over a wide range of power inputs and surface temperature.
Also to compare between convection and radiation heat transfer and between Hc and Hr. Moreover, to
determine the effect of forced convection and to show the relation between air velocity and surface
temperature for forced convection. And demonstrate that the local heat transfer coefficient varies
around the circumference of a horizontal cylinder when subjected to forced convection.
In Exp # 1, the voltage was continuously changing until the heater temperature (T10) reach the steady
state condition and at this time, T10 was recorded to get Qr and Qc. In Exp # 2, the voltage was kept
constant while the air velocity was changing continuously and T10 was recorded at the state condition
to determine Qf and Qr. In Exp # 3, the angular position and air velocity were changing continuously
and T10 was recorded at the state condition. The error percentage in Experiment #1 between Qc
experimental and Qc theoretical ranges is between 0.95% and 10.7% while the error in Qr
experimental and Qr theoretical ranges from 7.9% to 21.5%. Finally, the error percentage in
Experiment #2 between Qtot theoretical and Qtot experimental ranges from 5.6% to 6.22%, while the
error in Qt theoretical and Qin ranges from 50.5% to 80.5%.

Romanticism In Oliver Twist
Introduction:
In mid 19th century England, realistic literature came as a response to the preceding romantic period.
The romantic period was known to emphasize the experiences of the individual and was regarded as a
highly aesthetic period. It was related with the movement of sensibility or sentimentalism, which
stressed the importance of emotions and feelings of sympathy (Kitson 328 329). Contrarily, realism
during the Victorian age aimed to address economic and social issues in society by depicting the
struggles in the developing society as accurately as possible (Redd). Consequently, in the 1830s, when
Charles Dickens was writing Oliver Twist, it is justifiable that elements of both realism and
sentimentalism can be found in the novel. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most notably, Dickens depiction of London (in particular the workhouses and other social institutions)
and his criminal characters have a very prominent realistic effect. However before going into detail
about the realistic setting and characters, it would be beneficial to take a look at Dickens preface for
Oliver Twist. In his preface for Oliver Twist, Dickens justifies his reasons for writing about the
criminals of London; he had the impression that real thieves and pickpockets were not portrayed
correctly in literature during that time. For that reason, he felt that it was necessary to show these
crooks as they really were, for ever skulking uneasily through the dirtiest paths of life (7). He also
believed that doing this would be a service to society , and that he did it as best as [he] could . He
explains that he won t be writing about appealing and pleasant situations; ...no merry makings in the
snuggest of all possibly caverns, none of the attractions of dress, no embroidery, no lace... (8). In
essence, this preface foreshadows the realistic elements in the novel by telling the readers where to
look. Clearly the characters and setting will be portrayed as honestly and truthfully as possible,
without overlooking even one hole in the Dodger s coat, or one scrap of curl paper in Nancy s
dishevelled hair (9) and describing the cold wet shelterless midnight streets of London; the foul and
frowsy dens, where vice is closely packed and lacks the room to turn [...]

  • 2. The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years. Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc. Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder. Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always possible. Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times. There are different schools of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Traditional Family Values Traditional family values comprise a number of different values and beliefs held in high esteem regarding family life. Chief among the values is an emphasis on a loving, lifelong marriage, with the male as the breadwinner and the wife as the mother and homemaker. Traditionally, members who follow these values oppose premarital sex, easy access to contraceptive information, and abortions, as most of these in some way or another are viewed as sins. Prior to the 1970s, traditional family values didn t play a large role in American politics, and instead mainly influenced family life. Beginning in the 1970s, however, this changed as these values became a catchphrase and political platform of the American right. From Ronald Reagan to Pat Robertson, Conservatives couldn t comment on the decline of the family enough. How, then, did these values become such an integral part of of political life, as opposed to remaining private matters? The answer lies in the 1960s. From the 1940s to the early 1960s, after both World War II and The Great Depression, Americans were more eager than ever to establish families. Following traditional family values, these couples set a trend for earlier marriages with a greater number of kids than those of Europe during the same time period. Consequently, divorce rates dipped as many families found stability, peace, and love within these marriages. The heterosexual man of the relationship was typically the breadwinner, working during the day to provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every negotiation involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem solving. In the book Getting to Yes , the authors have not only identified the key issues in the traditional negotiation process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually acceptable agreements. The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize that the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over their opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of the participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have clearly highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be efficient and should not damage the existing relationship. A positional ... As negotiators we should try to address the core concern behind emotions (autonomy, appreciation, affiliation, role and status are some of the major concerns) and should ensure we do not knowingly or unknowingly threaten the self image of the other person. The authors mention that instead of hiding the emotions, it s wise to share them as both the parties may then jointly work to address those emotions. This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may sometimes lead to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. These emotional issues can however be handled with simple gestures like an apology or a sympathy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay On Earthquakes And Earthquakes Where are earthquakes and volcanoes found? Volcanoes and earthquakes have been known to man for thousands of years, but until fairly recently their distribution on the globe was thought of as totally haphazard with each event an isolated phenomenon. Yet, if the positioning of the world s volcanoes is considered, it can be seen that most volcanoes are situated within several hundred kilometres of the sea, and moreover, that the regions of volcanic activity are concentrated into several girdles or bands circling the Earth. Most notable amongst these are the so called Ring of Fire surrounding the Pacific Ocean (see figure 1), and the more tenuous and disjointed line running down the centre of the Atlantic Ocean. Throughout geological history, igneous activity has been restricted in the same way, as studies of ancient igneous rocks show. Similarly, earthquakes do not occur randomly over the whole surface of the Earth. Their epicentres also fall into welldefined bands girdling the planet, and in fact, seismic and volcanic activity are well correlated so that bands of concentration for each coincide (Figure 1). Figure 1. Map of the world showing the location of tectonic plate boundaries, volcanoes, hot spots, and earthquake zones. Note how the majority of seismic and volcanic events are concentrated on plate boundaries. Tectonic plates and their boundaries These concentrations of geological activity actually define the boundaries of huge, rigid fragments of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disney, named after their founder, began as just an animation studio called The Walt Disney Studios, which the company describes as the foundation on which The Walt Disney Company was built . Today, Disney produces various items targeted at children like toys, clothing, and animation ( Company ). In the paper, Images of Animated Others: The Orientalization of Disney s Cartoon Heroines From The Little Mermaid To The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Celeste Lacroix of the College of Charleston assesses the portrayal of female heroines from Disney animated films that depicts human main characters, examining the sexualization of non European or the exotic others, and brings to light Disney s strategy to instill an attitude of consumerism in children. Despite my memorable sentiment with Disney animations as a child, I agree with Lacroix s assertion that Disney impose consumerism onto children, especially with DVD commercials, tie in products and apps on smartphones and tablets. Starting off her paper, Lacroix begins with an anecdote of her visit to a theater s premier of The Lion King. Within her anecdote, Lacroix remarks that a toddler...began shouting with glee for the character Timon from The Lion King, which Lacroix found concerning as the toddler was all too aware even before the movie started playing (213 214). The restaurant industry has been slightly unstable as the economy climbs out of recession, and families slowly gain income to allow for a night to dine out. As a whole, the restaurant industry everything from full service to fast food accounts for 47% of this year s food dollar share, while supermarkets claim the majority, accounting for 53%. Within the restaurant industry, fast food restaurants were the only sub industry to show positive guest traffic in the first quarter with a .8% increase, as compared to 2013. Moreover, these deals offered by the restaurants encourage the consumer to purchase more while at the store; same store sales in fast food restaurants increased 1.6% in January of 2014, and 3.2% by April. Still, the industry is experiencing pressure from lack of sales, and to counteract this, McDonalds CEO, Donald Thompson, and CFO, Peter Bensen, announced in April 2014 that the company will be cutting costs in factors of production, but no specifics were released. Yum! Brand doesn t feel the heat with their worldwide sales growth of 4% in the 1st quarter of 2014; their brands include KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizzahut. Other chains are searching for alternatives to expand their companies and increase profit. Panera Bread and Chipotle have ventured into the catering industry, which at the fast food level has few competitors. They now offer their products in large quantities for events, and Chipotle even offers a customizable option no salsa on your burrito, no problem. Chipotle implemented this idea in January of 2013; as of May 2014 they ve seen comparable sales grow 13.4%. In the end it was ruled to get the kids to school safely. Often in parochial schools parents are given vouchers to help pay for private schools. Some say this is an issue regarding the Establishment clause. In 1973 Committee for Public Education v. Nyquist, the high court invalidated a New York state program that provided tuition reimbursements to poor parents whose children attended private schools, 85% of which were religious (Leaming, n.d.). The courts ruled that New York had a primary effect of advancing religion. Since Nyquist the voucher programs are one step closer to being recognized as constitutional through the Supreme Court. The Constitution permits vouchers to be available for both religious and private schools through the government. School vouchers also raised arguments from opponents and proponents. Opponents raised concern that talented students were pulled from public schools which lowered their quality of learning while the proponents claimed their children would receive a much better education. • 11. Qualitative Research Study And Action Research Essay Introduction Qualitative research plays an important role in evidenced based practice. Qualitative research often lay down the platform for added official quantitative studies or a follow up to a broad quantitative study. Qualitative research is a subjective design that investigates exceptional life concepts in a naturalistic setting using narrative descriptions as the findings (Polit Beck, 2017). There are six general types of qualitative research designs, namely phenomenological, ethnographic, historical, grounded theory, case study and action research, each one of these research design studies distinct human experiences phenomena (Polit Beck, 2017). The phenomenological research design studies the human understanding or knowledge base through descriptions that are afforded from lived experiences while the ethnographic design comprises data collection and analysis related to cultural groups (Polit Beck, 2017). Qualitative research is opposite of quantitative research, quantitative research counts on numerical and measurable with scales, tools, and intervention, it focuses on tightly controlled variables in a structured setting to provide explanation of laws and qualitative design is more flexible with variables and wants to understand the participants behaviors (Polit Beck, 2017). The first poem that I will attempt to analyze is Shakespeare 18 sonnet. The sonnet is something that I have read in my years in school, but it s not something I ve tried to analyze. The poem is part of Shakespeare midsummers dream, and it s one of the first parts of the play. While reading the 18th sonnet I recognized quite a bit of metaphors used to create imagery and draw the reader in. The entire sonnet is a comparison of a lover to a summers day. Shakespeare writes Thou art more lovely and more temperate , to say that the lover is calmer and more enjoyable than a summers day. He also writes but thy eternal summer shall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passionate Shepard is being read as if it s being spoken by a shepherd who s talking to the love of his life. Knowing that the speaker in the poem is a shepherd already gives me an imaginary in my head, but it s enhanced by the visual descriptions given in the poem. Without the use of words, such as we will all the pleasure prove that valleys, groves, hills and field woods, or steep mountain yield, I wouldn t have such a clear image about where the shepherd is. The use of language and imagery and knowing who the speaker is does help me to understand the poem better, because now I understand why to show his passion he is offering her posies, a gown of wool, and valleys. Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love was a bit easier to read aloud because the words flowed easier for me. I that s because it had an easier rhyme scheme than Shakespeare 18th sonnet, which I had to read three times so it didn t sound as foreign to me. The tone of the poem isn t forceful, but it s also not light, there is a fever to the way he is trying to convince the women to become his lover. The things he promises her in the beginning of the poem sound light and sweet, but toward the end the tone becomes more passionate. The tone and rhyme scheme are important to the poem because they help set the mood for the reader and help the reader understand what the poem means or is attempting to say. The ... To me, being a team player is important because it creates synergy where the sum is ultimately greater than the parts, and this helps to support a more empowered way of working, removing constraints which may prevent someone doing their job properly. George Orwell informs the young audience of the danger with communism. Orwell was a very cynical individual when it came to writing Animal Farm . There were many similarities and differences between Martin Luther King Jr. and the character, Old Major in Animal Farm. One similar political equality between the two figures is they both had a vision or dream of inspiring the masses of people to dream of a better future. between two groups of people. Despite having so many similarities between the two there are also several differences as well. Such as, the animals had different rights to fight for, for example, the animals were being overworked by Mr. Jones and they were not receiving enough food. On the other side, the blacks, during the Martin Luther King Jr. time period, were not able to go in the same bathroom as whites. The Blacks had restrictions to their rights in the idea of not being able to pursue certain circumstances as the whites did. • 21. The Importance Of Word Superiority On Word Recognition The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the effects of word frequency and superiority on word recognition when considering three models of lexical access with these being the logogen, frequency ordered bin search (FOBS) and TRACE models. Included in this analysis empirical proof from research studies will be considered. It is vital to understand the relevance of the word frequency and superiority effects before contemplating their role in the models of lexical access. Word frequency is often associated with Balota and Chumbley (1984) as their research, comprising of three experiments using 20 participants, demonstrates that the time taken to respond to a high frequency, commonly occurring words was shorter than that of a low frequency when recognising words. Contrasting this, Mosell, Doyle and Haggard (1989) observed this effect on a lexical decision and then a semantic categorisation task. Their findings demonstrate that word frequency and response time are equally related in all tasks involving word identification. Balota and Chumbley (1990) responded to the criticism as they remain confident in their own findings supporting the view that word frequency demonstrates that words we encounter on a daily basis require a shorter response time. The purpose of the word superiority effect is explored in Reicher s (1969) study which used 9 female students. After being extensively tested via forced choice letter recognition on ability to recognise varying stimuli (4 letter words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While 18 is considered the legal age in Australia, 16 year olds have been given many legal rights, such as learning to drive, being employed, and even being able to leave school. So what about being able to vote at elections? Following federal Labor leader, Bill Shorten s stance on lowering the voting age in Australia to 16, I too feel for the need to allow more of the younger population of Australia to participate in elections, and as Australians, so should you. Here are the reasons why. The current minimum voting age, 18, also marks the year of chaos and pressure for many young Australians. 18 is the time when many complete high school and continue to embark on university, TAFE or even full time employment. It s the time when many leave home and move to new and unfamiliar environments, and it is certainly the time when waves of stress that accompany the beginning of adulthood come crashing in for the first time. • 23. Foreign Aid For Economic And Humanitarian Development... Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the initiation of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an improvement in the economic standing in the region from both the international community and majority of the Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank has in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo Accords. Although there have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been far more long term and complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United States, were not able to effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian economy. The inability of the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian development within Palestine is the result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and blockades, the unintentional implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and political patronage. Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian assistance to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military occupation and blockades in the occupied West Bank. Meridian, by Alice Walker The women of the late sixties, although some are older than others, in Alice Walker s fiction that exhibit the qualities of the developing, emergent model are greatly influenced through the era of the Civil Rights Movement. Motherhood is a major theme in modern women s literature, which examines as a sacred, powerful, and spiritual component of the woman s life. Alice Walker does not choose Southern black women to be her major protagonists only because she is one, but because she had discovered in the tradition and history they collectively experience an understanding of oppression that has been drawn from them a willingness to reject the principle and to hold what is difficult. Walker s most developed character, Meridian, is a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meridian s quest for wholeness and her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement is initiated by her feelings of failure in living up to the standards of black motherhood. Meridian gives up her son because she believes she will destroy his growth with guilt and she has her tubes tied after a painful abortion (pg. 133). Walker investigated the idea of an African American structure of motherhood, as she develops the protagonist, Meridian, who at first believes she cannot properly fulfill the responsibility. The author entered the conflict about the value of motherhood in which American feminists were then, as they are now, engaged. Motherhood is also seen as a moral transformation, as a woman comes to terms with being different in that she ceases to be an independent individual because she is one way or the other attached to another her baby (FPS). Barbara Christian writes that Walker combines the forces of traditional and feminist perspectives on motherhood, attempting a compromise that would allow the protagonist to survive: As many radical feminists blamed motherhood for the waste in women s lives and saw it as a dead end for a woman, Walker insisted on a deeper analysis: She did not present motherhood itself as restrictive. It is so because of the little value society places on children, especially black children, on mothers, especially black mothers, on life itself. In 2008, according to the National Marine Fisheries Service, the commercial fish and shellfish harvest from the five U.S. Gulf states was estimated to be 1.3 billion pounds valued at $661 million. Oil spills are extremely harmful to marine life when they occur and often for years or even decades later, said Jacqueline Savitz, a marine scientist and climate campaign director at Oceana, an environmental group. She said spills could coat sea birds and limit their flying ability and damage fisheries by injuring marine organism s systems related to respiration, vision and reproduction. Savitz said that the Gulf of Mexico is host to four species of endangered sea turtles and bluefin tuna, snapper and grouper. Each of these can be affected, she said. Turtles have to come to the surface to breathe and can be coated with oil or may swallow it. And, she added, the Gulf is one of only two nurseries for bluefin tuna, more than 90 percent of which return to their place of birth to spawn. • 32. Economic Disadvantages Of Globalization Oxford Dictionary defines globalization as the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally and largely, as a result of deregulation and improved communications. Many countries export their own products and import products that they cannot produce in their countries. According to a 2010 Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco report, approximately 35.6% of all clothing and shoes sold in the United States were actually manufactured in China, compared to just 3.4% made domestically (Kuepper, 2017). Many countries rely on the globalization of the economy for not only domestic economic growth, but also international economic growth. Some people think globalization tends to contribute to an unstabilized economy among people and nations. However, it creates several advantages for individuals and nations. First of all, even though globalization has made the wealthy richer while making the non wealthy poorer, the globalization of the economy can influence many people positively. Through international trade, people can acquire cheaper goods and services than in the past. Because raw materials and labour are cheaper in developing countries, businesses are able to manufacture products cheaper than if they were made domestically. As a result, we as a consumer pay less for the product. Companies which produce cell phones, televisions, and other electronic devices built factories in China and Vietnam to manufacture their products. In addition to obtaining cheap goods and services, globalization can contribute to more job opportunities overseas. Increased globalization influences the labor market and creates new jobs. Then, many people can get new jobs which were not popular in the past. Since 2012, many countries have created specific jobs, such as market research analysts, Interpreter translators, and cartographers for approximately 1 million people because globalization contributes to make new jobs (Sentz, 2016). Also, it allows people to have the opportunity to acquire goods from other countries that we don t have in own country because of world trade. Irving also advocated for writing as a legitimate career, and argued for stronger laws to protect writers from copyright infringement (Bio). Washington Irving exemplified the Romantic Era because he emphasized feelings, emotion, and imagination, and he valued individualism and uniqueness of each person. A simple society developed into a complex society through prospective steps. A society can go only from simple to complex. The only time a society could go from complex to simple was if a national disaster occurred, but he explained that the most evolved society would develop back at a faster rate. What s Surprising In The Wizard Of Oz In 1939, Kansan teenager Dorothy Gale (portrayed by Judy Garland) decides to run away from home to protect her little dog, Toto, from her heinous neighbor, Almira Gulch. Before getting very far, Dorothy sees the error in her ways and attempts to return home before being swept into a strange world of colorful characters by a tornado. Realizing that there is only one way to return home, she sets off with a group of her newfound friends on the adventure of a lifetime. While most of us like to believe that becoming an adult gives us all the answers, it doesn t. Even in adulthood, many of us fail tot live up to the expectations of others and ourselves. Many adults are just as powerless as they were in their childhood. Take Auntie Em as an example. She can t do anything to prevent Toto from being taken away. While Dorothy can t comprehend how she d let Toto be sent to slaughter, Auntie Em knows she doesn t have the power to protect him. As an adult, she realized she had to follow the rules of society. This happens again later on at the most crucial moment of the film. After defeating the Wicked Witch, we see that the great Wizard of Oz is a charlatan and just as helpless as teenaged Dorothy. • 40. Social Disorganization Theory Of Crime Crimes are offensive acts committed by individuals or organizations that are unlawful and punishable in accordance to a state s laws (Gehring, 2017). Acts of crime in most countries around the world including the United States have caused more injuries, loss of property, and death as compared to a collection of other events such as natural disasters. The social disorganization theory is a notable example of concept that explains why different places experience different levels and cases of crime. This essay will explore the theory s tenets, summarize an empirical test that supports it, and identify its various strengths and weaknesses. It will also describe the assumed notions of the policy behind the theory. The theory was introduced by Clifford Shaw and Henry D. McKay in the year 1942. The two while utilizing spatial maps in examining the residential location from where the cities different juveniles resided discovered Chicago s crime rate was highly concentrated in specific regions of the town. The rate of crime in different parts of the city remained stable for a long time despite the changes in population over time. They realized that factors such as the race of a population did not majorly influence crime. Shaw and McKay claimed that crime rates of different regions were a credited to neighborhood dynamics and not the functions of individuals living in the neighborhood (Bellair, 2017). This is because from their research they noticed that the rate of crime in locations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. A Statistical Test Essay We live in a scientific world were the results of published research findings can dictate our very existence. Yet, there is an increasing body of evidence that suggest that most publish research findings are false (Ioannidis, 2005 page 0696). How can this be true? Part1: According to Ioannidis (2005), the pre study probability of a relationship being true is R/ (R + 1). Where R is the ratio of the number of true relationships to no relationships among those tested in the field (page 0696). The Null Hypothesis (Ho) is what you want to disprove, what you want to prove to be not true. The Alternative hypothesis (HA) on the other hand is what you want to prove to be true. Thus, in scientific research we are looking to prove that relationships are true or to prove that they are not true. The power of a statistical test is defined as the ability of the test to lead to a conclusion to accept the HA when in fact, the HA is true (Wirtz, 2013). Also, since the probability of a statistical study depends on the prior probability, statistical power, and the level of the observed P value, it means that the probability of a study finding a true relationship is the power of 1 β (one type two error (Ioannidis, 2005 page 0696). Also, type 1 error is the probability of incorrectly rejecting a null hypothesis that should not be rejected (Wirtz, 2013). Factors that negatively affect the probability of true relationships are small studies, smaller effect sizes, in a scientific field, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During your simulations I bet you wondered about option pricing. If you wanted to geek out, you could use a complicated formula like the infamous Black and Scholes equations. Instead of eating aspirin by the hand full, let s just focus on the basics. An option is a derivative, which means that it is based on the value of another asset. Thus, the stock price or underlying asset is an important feature in determining the pricing. You make money with an option if there is a favorable change in price of the underlying asset, but this must happen before expiration. Therefore, the longer the lifetime of the option, the better chance there is for that opportunity. Generally, the more time remaining on an option makes it worth more However, there is also more time for the stock to move in an unfavorable direction as well. TYPE OF OPTION: The type of option (put or call) is also highly relevant to pricing. Calls are expected to increase in value as the price of the underlying asset increases. While puts are expected to increase in value as the underlying asset s price decreases. The other factors discussed can also affect the option. Options for stocks that pay a dividend are often worth less because the dividend is priced into the option. VOLATILITY: Some would argue that volatility is the greatest factor in determining the price of an option in the marketplace. Realistically, all of the other factors, strike price, type, interest rates, dividend, are known, where volatility isn t. Since options are derivatives, stocks and options are interconnected. Abstract: The main objectives of this experiment are to determine the combined heat transfer (Qr + Qc) from a horizontal cylinder in natural convection over a wide range of power inputs and surface temperature. Also to compare between convection and radiation heat transfer and between Hc and Hr. Moreover, to determine the effect of forced convection and to show the relation between air velocity and surface temperature for forced convection. And demonstrate that the local heat transfer coefficient varies around the circumference of a horizontal cylinder when subjected to forced convection. In Exp # 1, the voltage was continuously changing until the heater temperature (T10) reach the steady state condition and at this time, T10 was recorded to get Qr and Qc. In Exp # 2, the voltage was kept constant while the air velocity was changing continuously and T10 was recorded at the state condition to determine Qf and Qr. In Exp # 3, the angular position and air velocity were changing continuously and T10 was recorded at the state condition. The error percentage in Experiment #1 between Qc experimental and Qc theoretical ranges is between 0.95% and 10.7% while the error in Qr experimental and Qr theoretical ranges from 7.9% to 21.5%. The romantic period was known to emphasize the experiences of the individual and was regarded as a highly aesthetic period. It was related with the movement of sensibility or sentimentalism, which stressed the importance of emotions and feelings of sympathy (Kitson 328 329). Contrarily, realism during the Victorian age aimed to address economic and social issues in society by depicting the struggles in the developing society as accurately as possible (Redd). However before going into detail about the realistic setting and characters, it would be beneficial to take a look at Dickens preface for Oliver Twist. In his preface for Oliver Twist, Dickens justifies his reasons for writing about the criminals of London; he had the impression that real thieves and pickpockets were not portrayed correctly in literature during that time. For that reason, he felt that it was necessary to show these crooks as they really were, for ever skulking uneasily through the dirtiest paths of life (7).
