What Are The Five Branches Of The United States Military
The military has always been an integral part of U.S. history. It dates back to 1775, even before the
Declaration of Independence. The United States Armed forces currently has five branches of service;
Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. This essay seeks to take a closer look at the United
States Army and the United States Navy, which are the two largest branches. A comparison of their
history, mission and the transition of its members back to civilian life will shed some light on how
similar but different these two branches are. Although the overall goal of all branches of the Armed
Forces is to protect the United States of America s borders and interests, each branch has a unique
history and specific mission in accomplishing this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today s Navy, according to the Navy s official website, navy.mil, consist of over 300,000 active duty
personnel, over 100,000 reserve personnel, 430 total ships and over 3700 aircrafts. According to the
Navy s New Recruit Handbook, The mission of the United States Navy is to protect and defend the
right of the United States and our allies to move freely on the oceans and to protect our country
against her enemies (29November2008). The U.S. Navy training manual states that the U.S. Armed
Forces mission is to prepare and conduct prompt and sustained combat operations in support of
national interest. As a part of that establishment, the U.S. Navy s function comprise of sea control,
projection of power and nuclear deterrence. (NAVEDTRA 14325 Feb2002 pp 20 7). To complete the
mission, the Navy relies on its enlisted ranks, which make up about 80 percent of the active duty
personnel. Enlisted sailors complete basic training and then move on to apprenticeship schools to
complete training in their individual job. Sailors then do their job on a day to day basis and have to
prove their skill level and level of responsibility through a series of Personal Qualification Standards
(PQS) and examinations. Because of this setup, a sailor is recognized not only by his rank, but more
so his job title. The primary mission of every individual sailor is to complete your job efficiently in
order for the overall mission to be successful. On the other hand, the U.S. Army s primary mission,
according to Section 3062 of Title 10 US Code, is to support national policies, implement national
objectives, overcome any nations aggressive acts that threaten the peace and security of the United
States and finally to preserve the peace and security and providing for the defense of the United
States,

Book Report Night By Elie Wiesel
In the book, Night, by Elie Wiesel, Eli is a young Jewish boy living in the small town of Sighet. He
faces the struggles of pursuing his dream of studying the Kabbalah, a religious text, against his father s
word. Moishe the Beadle, Eliezer s friend who he has a deep religious connection with, warns him
about the terrors that are to come to the Jews that do not escape. Eliezer s family as well as the rest of
the residents of Sighet do not believe Moishe. Later, the town learns of Adolf Hitler s evil plans,
however, much to the citizens fault, they do not head the warnings. The residents of Sighet are
eventually forced into cattle cars that were to take them to a location unknown to them. This location
was revealed to be Auschwitz Birkenau,

Maximilien Robespierre, Leader of the French Revolution
Europe cannot conceive of life without Kings and nobles; and we cannot conceive of it with them.
Europe is lavishing her blood to preserve her chains, whereas we are lavishing ours to destroy them
(Maximilien Robespierre). For centuries upon centuries, the monarchal system had dominated
European life. The very nature of this method of rule incited rebellious feelings, as a definite
imbalance of power was present. Understandably, people under this system had risen against authority.
The glorious nation of France was no exception. The eighteenth century brought about a great deal of
economic and social turmoil. By the end of this one hundred year period, rebellion had been talked
about by many citizens for quite some time. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The personal rebellions of Maximilien Robespierre took many forms, as did those of the French
Revolution, but no specific act of rebellion is perhaps best remembered by history or best associated
with his hand than the execution of the oppressive Monarchy itself. The main problem in France at the
time of the French Revolution was money management. The monarchy was wasting funds on
exorbitant palaces and individual pleasures. They also invested a ton of money into the American
Revolution, money that they had not yet gotten back. These managerial mishaps of the Monarchy
manifested themselves in such forms as utter and widespread destitution among the people, and
starvation among the least fortunate of the country s inhabitants. In some cases, the repair of the
economy would have been trusted to the ruling classes to fix, but Robespierre, along with many
others, realized that nothing would change unless a change in leadership accompanied it. The feelings
of many were embodied by this conclusion delivered by Robespierre in the National Assembly: It is
with regret that I pronounce a fatal truth: Louis ought to perish rather than a hundred thousand
virtuous citizens; Louis must die that the country may live (Maximilien Robespierre). It so passed that

The Natural Born Citizen Clause
I The NATURAL BORN CITIZEN CLAUSE AS ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD IN EARLY
AMERICAN AND BRITISH COMMON LAW WOULD REFUTE SENATOR CRUZ S CASE THAT
HE IS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN WITHOUT CORRESPONDING STATUTES MAKING AN
EXCEPTION.
The modern conventional wisdom of the phrase natural born citizen in the presidential eligibility
clause referred to anyone who was a U.S. citizen at birth either by a U.S. statute or via the
Constitution. The Constitution has no definition section, and subsequently the Supreme Court has
stated that when the Constitution is silent the law must be interpreted in the light of the common law,
the principles and history of which were familiarly known to the framers of the Constitution. My
argument is simple, it is reasonable to assume that the framers, most of whom were well trained
lawyers, purposely did not define the term natural born citizen believing that the controlling common
law principle was Jus Soli, and that Congress would pass corresponding statutes to accommodate any
exceptions to this principle similar to the practice that occurred in England with Parliament.
A. The Common Law Meaning of the Natural Born Clause at the Time of Its Adoption in the
Constitution Most Likely Meant the Strict Approach of Jus Soli with the addition of Naturalization
Statutes.
According to one of the most famous English jurists of all time, Sir William Blackstone, the definition
natural born was best understood as a division of people into aliens and

An Effective And Mind Blowing Discovery
In 2014, a group of scientists; including Nichola C. Garbett, Michael L. Merchant, C. William Helm,
Alfred B. Jenson, Jon B. Klein and Jonathan B. Chaires, discovered an effective and mind blowing
discovery to use a heat profile from a person s blood, known as a plasma thermogram and the use of
calorimetry and heat formation to identify whether an individual is suffering from symptoms of
cervical cancer, determined through the shape of their heat profile graph. Each of these scientists are
actively involved in Medicine and Health Studies, also obtaining a background in Chemistry and
Biology as a result of these pathway choices. Scientists; Nichola C. Garbett, Jonathan B. Chaires and
Alfred B. Jenson are co inventors on patent applications describing the DSC plasma thermogram
technology for which Louisville Bioscience, Inc. The Louisville Bioscience, Inc holds an exclusive
license from the University of Louisville. Jonathan B. Chaires and Alfred B. Jenson are founders and
shareholders of the Louisville Bioscience, Inc; likewise, Nichola C. Garbett is a founder, shareholder

The Value Of The Balance Sheet
The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets =
Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting
transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes, and
what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to
assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are primarily
focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheet of our company, we will explain
each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts.
To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the assets.
In the cash and cash equivalent, we have seen that the cash in hand decreased in 2013 from $3,931 to
$3,421 in 2014. This shall shows that the company may have spent cash on inventories and other
goods for the benefit of the company. In the receivables aspect, the amount of receivables has begun to
increase from 2013 to 2014 with an increase rate of 11.6%. In other terms, it increased from $6,967 in
2013 to $7,822 in 2014. This was an infinitesimal increase and it shows that the company had a lot of
companies owing them for the purchase of the Walt Disney Products and land usage. Another way of
saying is that other companies may be purchasing land from Disney to sell their products and expand
their companies to wider

Muslims Are Not Terrorists
Muslims are not Terrorists
There should be a total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the United States. ~Donald
Trump.

and false. Muslims are being attacked and accused with allegations that they are responsible for all
extremist attacks throughout the world. The real truth being that this is not the actions of what Islam
leads Muslims to act upon. How many people in American society really know the truth about Islam?

Almost in every religion worldwide there are those who choose to disobey the true meaning of a
religion and mis use it for their own interpretation. People begin to confuse what the religion is really
teaching and certain people or groups manipulate it for their own ideas. These extremists, that carry
out these mass murders of innocent people are not Muslims whatsoever but conduct these attacks in
the name of their own interpretation of Islam. One way to understand this, is that the majority of the
people who are killed are Muslims, and so those true Muslims are suffering just as much as anyone
else in this world who wants to end terrorism. This is what needs to be understood, the line between
the true definition of a religion and the fabricated one made by individuals and groups, as well as the
role our media is playing in regards to this important distinction.
Like most of us know, there are a lot of ignorant people out there who build their beliefs based on
anger, fear, and what others tell them. People commonly collect and build their image of Muslim
people from corrupted sources, one being what media outlets portray as Muslims. Another being what
people tell each other on social media. The most powerful tool is the internet and how often do we

Heroic Qualities Of Odysseus
Homer s epic poem The Odyssey begins by painting Odysseus as a brave and powerful leader and an
impulsive decision maker who over time becomes more intelligent; Homer develops these relatable
and heroic characteristics through detailed imagery and word choice as well as through symbols and
homeric similes which amplify the representation of Odysseus as a normal person as well as a heroic
figure. Odysseus s tendency to succumb to impulsive strokes of curiosity enables readers to relate with
his inner character. The protagonist gives into the natural human curiosity to find and fix one s
weakness. Circe tells him of the sirens who know the secrets of Odysseus s weakness, she also tells
him that listening to their knowledge is unwise and he along with his crew should close their ears.
However, in his impulsivity, Odysseus actually tells his crew to force him to listen while they cover
their ears. Odysseus also shows his impulses in regards to thirst for knowledge when he sends two
scouts to explore the land of the Lotus Eaters, knowing full well that their chance of return is unlikely.
This quest for knowledge could have been in a slower, but more logical and effective way. This shows
how Odysseus can easily succumb to less logical ideas if it is a question of his power or knowledge.
Another constant in his early story is his portrayal as a daring and fearless figure, often taking control
and triumphing over potential threats. Odysseus witnesses two of his shipmates be

Coastal Ecosystems In Florida
Florida s coastal ecosystems are one of the greatest assets that Florida has today. An ecosystem is an
interacting and interdependent community made up of both living and non living parts. Ecosystems
include the air, water, soil, and sunlight as well as all the living organisms present, from the simplest
amoeba to the plants and more complex animals that are all a part of the system. There is no size
limitation for ecosystems, the entire earth can be considered as a one ecosystem. And so with more
coastline than any other state in the contiguous United States, it is a source of economic,
environmental and recreational benefits. People come from all over the world to visit the beautiful
Florida beaches.1 Coastal uplands are composed of substrate and vegetation influenced primarily by
coastal maritime processes such as erosion, deposition, salt spray, and storms with storm surges.
Coastal uplands also consist of mesic or xeric communities restricted to barrier islands and near shore
with woody or herbaceous vegetation. Other communities that can be found with in south Florida s
coastal upland environments include beach dunes, coastal berms, coastal grasslands, coastal rock

Nursing Self Regulation Essay
A profession can be defined as a prestigious occupation with a high degree of identification among its
member that requires a length and rigorous education in an intellectually demanding and theoretically
based course of study; that engages in rigorous self regulation and control; that holds authority over
clients; and that puts service to society above simple self interest (Schwirian, 1998, p. 6). Nursing is
just that, and with its specific body of knowledge, standards, and codes of ethics, it is only fitting that
it be self regulated (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2012). The College of Nurses works with registered
nurses, registered practical nurses, and nurse practioners to determine whether or not standards and
best practices are met and that the public s safety is protected.
Specific Knowledge
Self regulation is the idea of a professional group entering an agreement with the government to
regulate their activities of their members (Canadian Nurses Association, 2007). This allows the
government to have a small role in the control over the practice of the profession and the services that
the members provide, but they do not have to gain in depth expertise to regulate the profession that
would be needed if it were under direct regulation. Self regulation acknowledges that the profession is
able to regulate its members because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Louis Pasteur s How To Vaccinate Against Infectious Disease
Louis Pasteur discovered how to vaccinate against infectious disease, but it was a long process before
he got to that point. He first studied the process of fermentation, which is when sugars are turned into
alcohol. When a vinegar manufacturer wanted to know why his vinegar was spoiling, Pasteur found
that it was because yeast (a microscopic fungus) had come in contact with the juice. He found that by
heating the beet juice to a controlled temperature, the yeast was killed, and the fermentation process
was stopped. Today this process is known as pasteurization, and it is applied to all kinds of food such
as milk and cheese. He took what he had learned and eventually isolated the organism that was
causing silk worm eggs to be infected with disease and developed a method to prevent the eggs from
becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This saved the silk industry. Eventually, he applied his knowledge to the medical industry by asking
doctors to sterilize their medical instruments by heating them to prevent the spread of germs. After
two of his children died of typhoid fever, Pasteur wanted to know if there was a way to protect the
body from germs. When an anthrax epidemic broke out among animals, he discovered that the anthrax
bacillus was the carrier of the disease. By using the heating method he used to kill the yeast in food,
Pasteur heated the bacillus enough to weaken it, and then he injected it into the animals to allow their
bodies to build up a resistance against the bacteria. It worked, and Pasteur eventually developed a
vaccine for rabies and other infectious diseases like cholera and smallpox. Pasteur had many questions
that motivated his discoveries. Where are the micro organisms coming from that cause fermentation?
Can the fermentation process be stopped? If fermentation can be stopped in food, can that same
concept be applied to protect the body from infectious disease? Then there was the motivation
initiated through the

A Brief Note On Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy ( Dnp )
Diabetic Foot Problems Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DNP), also know as Neuropathy nerve
damage. Diabetes can impair blood flow to your feet and cause nerve damage (Castro 180). High
blood sugar can injure nerve fibers throughout your body, but diabetic neuropathy most often damages
nerves in legs and feet. Enigmatically, recent reports have described that long term tight glycemic
control may be major risk factor for the development of diabetic neuropathy (Zhang, et al. 1). Diabetic
neuropathy can also affects the eyes, retinopathy, increasing the risk for glaucoma and blindness.
Physicians recommend eye exams every six months to one year. The eyes must be checked often as
vision can deteriorate quickly in patients with diabetes. A person with diabetes may not be aware of a
wound or injury to their foot due to a decreased sensation in their feet, a condition called diabetic
neuropathy. Therefore, great care must be taken to inspect the feet everyday. Neuropathy is a chronic
condition, which will get worst over the time. Been diagnosed with neuropathy can change a patients
life; this can turn into a chronic disease that will be treated with adequate medication, maintaining low
blood sugars, doing self examinations of the feet to prevent any further complications and visiting the
physician as directed to do routine check ups.
Diabetic neuropathy begins as a generalized asymptomatic dysfunction of sensorimotor or autonomic
peripheral nerve fibers and is by far the

My Interest Of Law Is Most Commonly Seen From Old And...
Law is most commonly seen in old and modern day tv shows with criminal being thrown behind bars
or perhaps in the news with the difficult legal system that no one adheres to anymore,, said lawyer
John Adkins in an interview. My interest in law began when I was a young girl. I would check out
books whose subjects ranged from law in general to actual criminal cases both solved and unsolved.
My mind would drink in all the details from the evidence, to the trial, and finally to the conviction of
the accused. One day, I was allowed to check out a DVD of a solved case in which the defendant was
found not guilty of the sudden and mysterious death of his wife. I was intrigued by hearing and
arguments of both sides. Convinced of the mans guilt, I set out on my own little investigation which
yielded little more than the awakening of my interest then and there. Unable to disguise my growing
interest, I told my mom of my dream to become a lawyer. She advised me to carefully think of all the
schooling required to achieve such a career. Past studies indicate the bare minimum requirements
include a high school diploma, any or all classes involving government, social studies, and economics,
speech courses, technology or computer classes. After high school, four years of basic college work is
required. College classes would have to cover: liberal arts track, english, history, economics, social
studies, logic, public speaking, as well as agriculture and political science. Law school

The Effect Of Acid Concentration On Plant Plants And...
Introduction
Gibberellic Acid is a naturally occurring plant growth hormone that belongs to the gibberellin group
(Gupta and Chakrabarty, 2013). Gibberellins are responsible for stem growth in plants and regulate the
synthesis of proteins. Gibberellic acid is a by product of the Gibberella Fujikuroi fungi which has the
effect of causing developing rice plants stems to grow in such an expeditious manner that the plant
collapses (John M. Riley, 1987).
The experiment s variables include the independent variable, which is the concentration of gibberellic
acid that is used to soak the seeds, and the time period of germination, as well as the dependant
variable, which is the number of seeds that germinate. The control used to compare seed germination
and in this situation is the sample with a gibberellic acid concentration of 0 ppm. Constants in the
experiment include factors affecting seed germination such as constant temperatures where each
sample receives the same temperature and in the case of variation the same amount of variation,
quantity of moisture where the same amount of gibberellic acid is added to each bag corresponding to
the concentration, the samples should also receive the same conditions of light, have the same sowing
density, and number of seeds per square centimetre.
The aim of this practical is to investigate the effects of gibberellic acid on the germination rates of two
plant species. It was hypothesised from the above information that higher

The Positive Aspects Of Bureaucracy
1. One of the positive aspects of bureaucracy that covers so many scenarios is it fosters impartiality.
The structure in bureaucracy commands responsibility by all and that structure also provides security
in many situations for those within the bureaucratic system as well as those impacted by that system.
2. A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has
immerged within a group of students. That person doesn t even realize she is considered the leader but
many of the true leaders realize it and are attempting to use her leadership to help solve the crisis. The
crisis began on the second week of school when a number of teachers were displaced from their
assignment at this particular school. This displacement caused a lot of emotional pushback by other
teachers, parents and most definitely students. One particular student moved quickly in an attempt to
rally the students to support the displaced teachers. Though she was only able to get two other
students to participate with her and speak that night at the school board meeting, their bravery stood
out to members of the school board as well as administration within the school. The video of their
moving speeches has been shared over and over on social media. The situation did contribute to the
emergence of the leader as she was directly impacted by the displacement of teachers though it did not
necessarily demand it. When she attended

Similarities Between Bordeaux And Burgundy From The Same...
Introduction This paper will zero in on compare and contrast two different regions which are
Bordeaux and Burgundy in the same field: location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes. Discuss the early
history of the development of each region, including the specific examples. Then review the location,
Climate and Terroir, and Grapes that rank the wines as among the best in the world. To conclude, look
into the future of each region to analyze prospects for continued success.
The history of Bordeaux Wine The history of the Bordeaux wine region dates back to the ancient
Romans who were the first people to cultivate, plant vineyards and produce Bordeaux wine. The
Romans took over the area in about 60 BC, and it was starting to earn fame for its wines as far back as
in 1152 when Henry of England wed Eleanor of Aquitaine, who controlled the region. The Bordeaux
appellation was perfect for cultivating grapes for wine. It offered the unique combination of the right
soil for growing grapes used in the production of wine coupled with easy access to the Garonne river,

Shakespeare s Use of the Idea of Disguise in As You Like It
Shakespeare uses the idea of disguise in many of his plays. It is used as an escape from the characters
personalities and sometimes for comic effect. In As You Like it, the disguise becomes very comical as
in the time it was written only men could act on stage. This could lead to much confusion and comedy
in the roles of those in disguise. Disguise can give the freedom to a character to act how they like and
a chance for them to show their views. It was in the 16th Century that there became an increased sense
of self consciousness and identity. This led to people creating an image for themselves. If one can
create a self, they can create many different versions of themselves each showing a different aspect of
that person. This links in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As she is disguised as Ganymede, this is possible. She would not have been able to do this as a
woman. When she is disguised as a man, more people listen to Ganymede. Although it is the same
person, she can have much more say about her views and opinions when she is disguised as
Ganymede. However, simply because her personality is not accepted as a woman, it does not mean
that she is not presenting it. By showing that she enjoys watching the wrestling, she is revealing her
true personality. She does not have to be disguised as a boy to do this. The disguise may show other
aspects of the character s personality but it is still shown through their everyday person.
Another point to make on this matter would be that the character of Rosalind would have been played
by a male and the audience would know this. This could mean that the reason Shakespeare included
Rosalind s enjoyment of manly sports was because Rosalind is actually a man in the attire of a
woman. There is a large confusion of the gender of Rosalind throughout the play. By confusing the
gender, Shakespeare is focusing more on the personality of Rosalind than her appearance. The
question of gender is continued at the very end of the play. In many of his plays, Shakespeare ends
with an epilogue read by a male character. In As You Like it, the epilogue is performed by Rosalind.
The epilogue seems to be outside the play as if the actor was talking but Rosalind is still in character.

Analysis Of The Book The Boy s The Striped Pajamas
In this Literary analysis report, of the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas , I will be breaking down
the story. Starting with the beginning introducing the main protagonist and antagonist of the movie.
Then introducing the main conflict and how the protagonist tried to fix this problem, and how it was
solved. The final paragraph will break down the movie even further by explaining symbols, showing
what they mean, and how this movie depicted the real world. To start off, The movie The boy in the
striped pajamas was directed by Mark Herman. The Story starts off in Berlin during World War II. The
boy s father is a soldier and is commander of a concentration camp. So in order to do his job he has to
move his whole family closer to the camp. The rest of the story takes place in Auschwitz were the
concentration camp is located at. The protagonist of this story is a little boy named Bruno. He is an 8
year old German boy. Bruno doesn t know what really is going on in the war. He is still innocent,
during this time, all that he knows about the war is that his father is trying to make the world a better
place. The antagonist in this story is Bruno s dad. He is a very high official of the German army. He
takes his job very seriously and says that by winning the war the world would become a better place
for his son. Although the protagonist is being taught to hate Jewish people, he still becomes friends
with a Jewish kid his age. This is the main conflict of the story, and why

Supply and Demand and United States
CHAPTER 2
THE BASICS OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND
1. Consider a competitive market for which the quantities demanded and supplied (per year) at various
prices are given as follows:

80 20 16
100 18 18

6. In 1998, Americans smoked 470 billion cigarettes. The average retail price was $2 per pack.
Statistical studies have shown that the price elasticity of demand is 0.4, and the price elasticity of
supply is 0.5. Using this information, derive linear demand and supply curves for the cigarette market.
7. In Example 2.7 we examined the effect of a 20 percent decline in copper demand on the price of
copper, using the linear supply and demand curves developed in Section 2.6.
Suppose the long run price elasticity of copper demand were 0.4 instead of 0.8.
a. Assuming, as before, that the equilibrium price and quantity are P* = 75 cents per pound and Q* =
7.5 million metric tons per year, derive the linear demand curve consistent with the smaller elasticity.
b. Using this demand curve, recalculate the effect of a 20 percent decline in copper demand on the
price of copper.
8. Example 2.8 analyzes the world oil market. Using the data given in that example,
a. Show that the short run demand and competitive supply curves are indeed given by
D = 24.08 0.06P
SC = 11.74 + 0.07P.
b. Show that the long run demand and competitive supply curves are indeed given by
D = 32.18 0.51P
SC = 7.78 + 0.29P.

Every year, millions of students take long standardized tests, but do they improve the education of

Analysis Of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide
The characters between the two adaptations are portrayed in contrasting ways due to the diverse cast.
In the 1981 s adaption of For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Enuf
the characters are all their own entity keeping each story separate. While the actors and actresses
remain the same through the entire film, the characters come from a variety of backgrounds including
half Latino women to a young woman receiving an abortion. These stories are cohesive only through
the actions and lives of African American women, not through a plot which interconnects these stories.
This way of expressing the different types of women and what they stand for creates the cohesion that
is necessary for this form of literature.
In the 2010 s For Colored Girls, Tyler Perry attempted to create a cohesive narrative through
connecting each of the monologues with the characters. Each woman is given a role from the novel
but has added on story elements outside of the original play. For example, the play has a part that
states, this note is attached to a plant i ve been waterin since the day i met you you may water it yr
damn self . In the 1981 play, the woman is speaking to herself in the mirror as if trying to get the nerve
to express herself to her lover. In Tyler Perry s version, the woman is stating all of this in front of the
door of her ex lover. This scene creates an umbrella in which you are greeted with the rest of the cast

The Importance Of Personal Liberty
Personal liberty means a bundle of rights, essential for the existence of human life. In Maneka Gandhi
v. Union of India, the Supreme Court pointed out that the expression personal liberty does not mean
only liberty of the persons but also liberty or rights attached to the person (Jus personam). A division
bench of the Delhi High Court observed in AV Chardel v. Delhi University that the expression life and
personal liberty includes a variety of rights, which though not enumerated in Part III of the
Constitution, can be included in various aspects of liberty provided they are necessary for the full
development of human personality. Further in Francis Coralie v. Union Territory of Delhi, Justices PN
Bhagwati, Fazal Ali, Murtaza, while stressing the quality of life and its enjoyment within the purview
of Article 21 have rightly said: the right to life enshrined in Article 21 cannot be restricted to mere
animal existence. It means something much more than just physical survival. The right to life includes
the right to live with human dignity and all that goes along with it.
Along these lines the articulation individual freedom isn t restricted to the assurance of appendage and
workforce however incorporates everything basic for the happiness regarding existence with all
human respect.
A vital inquiry how far the infringement of freedoms fundamental forever caused by the ecological
contamination exists in the extent of Article 21 has been examined by the High Court

How Slums Are Constructed And Complex Economic, Social And...
Across the world, whether it be in a first or a third world country, there are populations which tend to
be segregated into communities and form part of the low socioeconomic status. These groups, usually
termed slums , are heavily ostracised and are usually sought to be removed and stopped in their
growth. Drawing from different locations as examples, I will firstly discuss how slums are established
and the many complex economic, social and political issues which keep the slum alive in this modern
age. There is also the matter of highlighting the way in which we define a slum and the people living
within it and how this may affect slum growth. Lastly, I will make an allusion to measures that try and
stop the advance of slums and their effectiveness.
The origins and development of a slum are varied and complex. As there are a myriad of possible
scenarios and variations, to avoid over complexity, there are a few key political, economic and social
factors that are a running theme within the majority of slums. Most of these aspects transpire
concurrently and are inextricably linked. One of the main causes of a slum s creation is due to rapid
urbanisation in a city that is unable to keep up with the growing demands. The rapid influx of people
to cities could be for several reasons: moving from rural areas to find work in bigger cities or
migrating from a war torn country. Upon moving to these larger towns, they are unable to afford
housing due to lower incomes in the

Thade Research Paper
Terminal High Altitude Air Defense System
North Korea s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile defense program is a serious threat to the United
States. A fully developed North Korean Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) could reach the
continental United States. (Jack Kim) If North Korea conducts a test launch of ICBM that threatens
the U.S. or its allies, the U.S. will have to rely on their Terminal High Altitude Air Defense System
(THAAD) to shoot the missile down with an interceptive (Jae Soon). The THAAD is an anti ballistic
missile system developed by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) that uses kinetic energy from its
impact with a ballistic missile that can destroy the missile and minimize the damages of an exploding
warhead.
The THAAD was originally created in 1991 exclusively for the United States Army. The United States
Army hired the MDA during the Gulf war to develop a system that could counter scud missiles that
were launched against U.S. troops in Iraq. (Panda) The MDA awarded Lockheed a contract making
the corporation the primary contractor in charge of designing the system. Per the Lockheed Martin
website, the THAAD is one of the most advanced missile systems in the world today. (Lockheed

The Tell-Tale Heart Irony
Edgar Allan Poe s, The Tell Tale Heart, is a short murder mystery, which conveys the story of the
narrator s necessity to murder for pleasure. The narrator is a conflicted man who wants to kill an old
man for no clear reason. The narrator describes his love for the old man, as the following quote
portrays, I loved the old man. He had never wronged me, yet the narrator still wants to take the old
man s life. At the beginning of the story he mentions that he had a disease, from which the readers can
infer that he is possibly mentally instable, as it is stated, The disease had sharpened my senses not
destroyed not dulled them. Poe describes the story in a really vivid manner which allows the reader to
visualize the story. Hence, I decided to depict the story in the form of a book cover, to help visualize
the story in a single image, from which the readers can have an idea of the overall plot. The book
cover has a single eye ball in the middle of the cover, with all the attention focused on it, because it is
the main reason of the murder plot. This can be seen through the following quote, He had the eye of a
vulture a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran ... Show more

once once only. In an instant I dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him. The
narrator tackles the old man and at the end buries him under his own bed, this shows that a place that
symbolizes safety, carries another meaning in this story. Consequently, the setting of the story is

Essay on Evolution Embedded in Symbols
Evolution Embedded in Symbols
Two billion years ago two prokaryotes bumped into each other and formed the first multi cellular
organism. 65 million years ago an asteroid hit the earth and dinosaurs became extinct. Three days ago,
in your notebook you drew a mess of squiggles which to you represented Jackson Pollock s painting,
Number 1, 1948. You wrote the word entropy on the upper left hand corner of the page. On the bottom
right hand side you wrote, Creativity is based on randomness and chance.

In her book, On Beauty and Being Just, Elaine Scarry states that beauty incites replication (4). Like a
history of evolution, a history of human symbolic representation is heavily dependent on the act of
reproduction. This reproduction has manifested itself quite literally. For example, when a painter finds
something in nature to be beautiful, she can reproduce it on the canvas and when a writer finds a
moment to be inspiring, she can transcribe the moment into a set of instructions [i.e. words] about how
[a reader] can imagine or construct [that moment] (Dreaming by the Book, Scarry, 6). Like sexual
reproduction which allows organisms to share their genetic material in order to continue species and to
create new organisms, pictures and words help with a lateral transfer of cultural information, its
continuance and recombination. To create a symbol of something with a string of words or with an art
material is to perpetuate that which is beautiful for future generations.
According to Dennett, before there were words, there were no word meanings, even if there were
other sorts of meanings. (402) Dennett s hypothesis reminds us, at the most basic level that symbols
mean something. To say that there are only a couple of meanings behind all artwork and writing would
be to deny the complexity of the human symbol making and

Discussion Of Virtue In Plato s Meno
During this week s intro to Plato s Meno and the idea of inputting a portion of the first few pages to
improve life I stumbled across an interesting topic. This was what I call differences in species and
matter or like Sacrates described it by asking, ... you think it is only in the case of virtue that there is
one for a man, another for a woman and so on. (2). There, we can see that he wants to make sure that
Meno knows that virtue is no different for man than for a female than for a child. Therefore, this
becomes the first anti racial argument that was established. They talk about how bees have different
attributes, this being my state of matter, from one another, yet because they are all bees, the same
specie, we call them and categorize them as bees and nothing else. If that is the case, we are all

The series setting in the cartel marijuana jungle is a very unique location. It provides for an original
hook.
The tone is dark and gritty. The series offers an ensemble cast of characters. There are solid themes
about revenge, redemption, and second chances. The series also appears to explore lust, anger, and
greed, as well as justice.
While there strengths to this pilot, overall the pilot would benefit from more development. The areas
to discuss include the structure, the pace, clarification, and tension, as well as further character
development.
In general, the main concern about this proposed series is that by the end of the pilot, the audience
really has no clear idea of what this series is truly about and what future episodes will look like. The
main objective of any pilot is to convey what the series will look like and to convince a producer that
this can be a long term series. By the end of this pilot, the audience doesn t feel that this objective has
been achieved yet. Granted, it s Luke vs. Isabella, and there s an implication that Isabella is looking

The Whale Rider by Niki Caro is a film about a young girl, Paikea s journey to acceptance from her

conflicts explored throughout this film is the conflict between Nanny Flowers and Koro, Paikea s

The film Whale Rider is based around a family living on the East Coast of New Zealand, in

Nanny Flowers didn t like this gesture and after Koro had said goodbye made him hold her. Here, hold

this was wrong and stood by Paikea for she was only an innocent child and Koro was being a blinded
man. He was looking for something that didn t exist, a prophet, a new leader who was going to lead
their family to great heights. During this scene, Niki Caro used some clever camera movement and
shot compositions to enhance the message she was trying to get across. When we see Koro saying
goodbye to Pai s brother the shot we see is from behind a glass wall, behind Nanny Flowers shoulders.
This was effective because the shot was made out to be from Nanny Flowers perspective. Caro also
used the wall as a barrier showing that there is separation between the characters. This was clever of
Caro because this event was the beginning of the conflict between Nanny Flowers and Koro.
Throughout the film the conflict between these characters builds until the very end of the film when,
the conflict reaches its peak. At the end of the film one of the last events is helping a whole pod of
beached whales, back into the sea. After a long night s struggle Paikea gets onto the biggest

Graph Theory Concepts and Strategies with Ticket to Ride...
Ticket to Ride is a board game created by Alan R. Moon that has been growing in popularity since its
first release in 2004 by Days of Wonder. The game components include a map with cities and defined
train routes, sets of 45 colored, plastic train car tokens for up to five players, destination tickets, and
colored train cards. The premise of the game involves collecting enough of the colored train cards to
claim or build train routes to connect various major cities in the United States and southern Canada to
earn points as well as completing routes designated on the destination tickets. The game itself is not
only a fun way to spend hours playing but it is also a good tool to showcase various concepts in graph

tickets not kept by a player are returned to draw pile for later in the game. Note that some versions of
the game remove any discarded tickets from play for the rest of the game. An example of a destination
ticket is shown in Figure 3.
On a player s turn, he/she chooses one of three options: Build a train connecting two adjacent cities
using sets of colored train cards to earn points immediately, draw up to two additional colored train
cards to be used later to build a train, or draw three additional destination tickets keeping a minimum
of one to earn points at the end of the game. Play continues in this fashion for each player until one
player has two or fewer train tokens left and then everyone still has one more turn.
The points earned from building a train connecting two adjacent cities are based on the length of the
route with the longer routes earning more points per train token. Routes of length one and two earn
only one point per token while a route of length three earns a total of four

They both had huge ideas that to some people would have seemed impossible and the desire to
achieve them. The only difference was which side of the humanistic scale they were on. Essentially,
the tactics hidden underneath of the facades were exactly the same: Burnham s dream being the fair,
and Holmes s dream being a hotel which he could successfully lure women into and kill them without
suspicion. Throughout the novel there are many examples of buildings and projects that Burnham had
to complete. During the process of building each one there were always challenges that he had to
overcome. Before the fair, Burnham and his partner Root were commissioned to build the Montauk.
This building had to face a common problem for Chicago: the foundation. There was already a
common solution for the problem; however, this building did not have a usual design and required a
basement that could not be filled with stone pyramids as the usual design would have made it. Instead,
he came up with a better solution that involved a floating foundation, and seemed to fulfill its purpose.
The Montauk became the first building to be called a skyscraper. Since Holmes was not building a

The Beauty Standards Set For African American Women
The beauty standards set for African American women has shifted drastically in the past decades due
to the change in popularized stereotypical images portrayed through the explicit lyrics of hip hop and
rap music. How African American women are portrayed in the music industry has had a profound
impact on how black women view themselves as well as other races, it promotes unrealistic body
sizes/images, and colorism in the black community because of how the new age rap and hip hop
stigmatizes and sexualize the Black woman s body as a whole. Not only are males rap artist
contributing to the exploitation of African woman but also the women of rap as well are adding to the
derogatory and disrespectful image that is perceived by society.
Music has always served as a channel for African American men to eloquent the issues they have
living as an oppressed entity. But because of how rap artist portray African American women in their
songs and music videos, they have stigmatized black women as non intelligent sexual entities. In
Dionne Stephens and April Few s article, they examine the eight sexual images of African American
woman in today s society which originated from Stephens and Philips study in 2003. The widely
accepted images are the Diva, the Gold digger, the Freak, the Dyke, the Gangster Bitch, the Sister
Savior, the Earth Mother, and the Baby Mama and they are portrayed in the hip hop music industry
and culture. (Stephens and Few) These categories that society places the

A comparative Critique of Maria Tatar s An Introduction to Fairy Tales and Bruno Bettelheim s Fairy
Tales and Modern Stories . Fairy tales always have a way of making the reader feel really connected to
the protagonist through the use of hardship. Readers get attached to the protagonist by using their own
life s problem to replace with the protagonist s problem and the journey of the protagonist overcoming
their problems gives the reader sense of hope to look forward to in their own lives and maybe they can
solve their own problems. Fairy tales give people hope in tough times because when they can not

Little girl recalled how fairy tales showed her that if her attitude changes and stays positive that her
chances of succeeding is higher. This teaches the little girl that she does not need anything else, but
the conviction belief that she can accomplish this task. According to the Bettelheim, children use
modern stories to escape reality and go into a fantasy world that gives them temporary relief. Since the
story was not a fairytale, it left the girl off with no hope for getting better in the future. Not only do
fairy tales help children develop, but it also gives them hope. Bettelheim demonstrates through
another scenario how fairytale gave a little girl hope in sense of her difficult situation. The little girl
used Rapunzel as a way to relate her situation with the main character. While reading she figures out
that her prince in real life will eventually save her like it happened in the story, giving her hope to
keep going according to Bettelheim. That story of hope was sustained until that little girl grew up and
got married eventually not needing it anymore, but she was using it more as a safety blanket. She
would only use the fairytale in time of need. Maria Tatar points out how these stories help shape
individuals at a young age. She explores how children reading these stories and using imagination can
uncover fears and desires they have. But these fairy tales do not only have a good influence on
children, but also

A Thousand Splendid Suns Feminist Analysis
In Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam and Laila were brought together due to
circumstances they could not control. Although they were both oppressed wives of a cruel and violent
husband, Rasheed, they were eventually able to regain power over their own lives. The two women
supported and learned from each other, finding strength in their relationship. Their relationship was an
alliance of sorts and was essential to their ability to regain power over their lives. Once Mariam and
Laila befriended each other, they each started to gain courage and hope and began to take more control
over their lives in separate, small acts of courage and rebellion that eventually led to significant events
which cemented their newly regained power. The developing of power did not come without
obstacles, but Mariam and Laila were able to persevere and continue to stand up for themselves
against both Rasheed and their societal constraints. Finding strength and motivation from each other
and from other loved ones essential to their efforts, Mariam and Laila were able to take power over
their own lives by standing up to and retaliating against oppressors in a series of events which led to
the pivotal moment when Mariam kills Rasheed, finally setting both women free and giving them both
complete power over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the first instances of such rebellion was when Rasheed, the greatest obstacle to the women s
regaining of power over their lives, was preparing to beat Mariam with his belt. Laila was not willing
to succumb to the power Rasheed exerted upon them with violence, so she lunged at Rasheed herself,
preventing him from harming Mariam. This small victory against Rasheed was the beginning of
several events that marked the women s attaining of power. Another example of how Laila rebelled
against Rasheed s possessive, controlling nature is when

The reason for the popularity of outsourcing is that it allows many companies to reduce the overall
service costs, particularly the labour costs, be close some of their customers together with the
combination of environmental pressure, efficiency and competitive pressure (Tate et al. 2009;
Frattochi et al 2014; Hutzel and Lippert 2014). As a consequence, when these advantages are no more
exist, many manufacturing firms in developed countries have started to shift their business strategies
from offshoring and outsourcing and reshoring. 2.1.3. Reshoring Reshoring is can be simply
understood a location decision to bring manufacturing back home from a current location into the
country of origin (Gray et al. 2013). In another way, Cottrill (2013) describes reshoring as a
manufacturing location decision that is a change in policy from a previous decision to locate
manufacturing offshore from the firm s home location. Reshoring includes both in sourced production
and outsourced activities (IECD 2015). It can range from the tiny to the enormous firms and can be
applied to industries besides manufacturing and varies in terms of scale (Tazmin Booth). As Van den
Bosseche et al (2014) argues, a number of macroeconomic factors have tipped the balance of
reshoring in its favour such as the appreciation of China s currency versus western countries, the
wages in China, low energy costs

  • 2. What Are The Five Branches Of The United States Military The military has always been an integral part of U.S. history. It dates back to 1775, even before the Declaration of Independence. The United States Armed forces currently has five branches of service; Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. This essay seeks to take a closer look at the United States Army and the United States Navy, which are the two largest branches. A comparison of their history, mission and the transition of its members back to civilian life will shed some light on how similar but different these two branches are. Although the overall goal of all branches of the Armed Forces is to protect the United States of America s borders and interests, each branch has a unique history and specific mission in accomplishing this. ... Today s Navy, according to the Navy s official website, navy.mil, consist of over 300,000 active duty personnel, over 100,000 reserve personnel, 430 total ships and over 3700 aircrafts. According to the Navy s New Recruit Handbook, The mission of the United States Navy is to protect and defend the right of the United States and our allies to move freely on the oceans and to protect our country against her enemies (29November2008). The U.S. Navy training manual states that the U.S. Armed Forces mission is to prepare and conduct prompt and sustained combat operations in support of national interest. As a part of that establishment, the U.S. Navy s function comprise of sea control, projection of power and nuclear deterrence. (NAVEDTRA 14325 Feb2002 pp 20 7). To complete the mission, the Navy relies on its enlisted ranks, which make up about 80 percent of the active duty personnel. Enlisted sailors complete basic training and then move on to apprenticeship schools to complete training in their individual job. Sailors then do their job on a day to day basis and have to prove their skill level and level of responsibility through a series of Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) and examinations. Because of this setup, a sailor is recognized not only by his rank, but more so his job title. The primary mission of every individual sailor is to complete your job efficiently in order for the overall mission to be successful. On the other hand, the U.S. Army s primary mission, according to Section 3062 of Title 10 US Code, is to support national policies, implement national objectives, overcome any nations aggressive acts that threaten the peace and security of the United States and finally to preserve the peace and security and providing for the defense of the United States, ... • 4. Maximilien Robespierre, Leader of the French Revolution Europe cannot conceive of life without Kings and nobles; and we cannot conceive of it with them. Europe is lavishing her blood to preserve her chains, whereas we are lavishing ours to destroy them (Maximilien Robespierre). For centuries upon centuries, the monarchal system had dominated European life. The very nature of this method of rule incited rebellious feelings, as a definite imbalance of power was present. Understandably, people under this system had risen against authority. The glorious nation of France was no exception. The eighteenth century brought about a great deal of economic and social turmoil. By the end of this one hundred year period, rebellion had been talked about by many citizens for quite some time. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The personal rebellions of Maximilien Robespierre took many forms, as did those of the French Revolution, but no specific act of rebellion is perhaps best remembered by history or best associated with his hand than the execution of the oppressive Monarchy itself. The main problem in France at the time of the French Revolution was money management. The monarchy was wasting funds on exorbitant palaces and individual pleasures. They also invested a ton of money into the American Revolution, money that they had not yet gotten back. These managerial mishaps of the Monarchy manifested themselves in such forms as utter and widespread destitution among the people, and starvation among the least fortunate of the country s inhabitants. In some cases, the repair of the economy would have been trusted to the ruling classes to fix, but Robespierre, along with many others, realized that nothing would change unless a change in leadership accompanied it. The feelings of many were embodied by this conclusion delivered by Robespierre in the National Assembly: It is with regret that I pronounce a fatal truth: Louis ought to perish rather than a hundred thousand virtuous citizens; Louis must die that the country may live (Maximilien Robespierre). It so passed that French (Mangan 4) citizen Louis Capet, (formerly known ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Natural Born Citizen Clause I The NATURAL BORN CITIZEN CLAUSE AS ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD IN EARLY AMERICAN AND BRITISH COMMON LAW WOULD REFUTE SENATOR CRUZ S CASE THAT HE IS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN WITHOUT CORRESPONDING STATUTES MAKING AN EXCEPTION. The modern conventional wisdom of the phrase natural born citizen in the presidential eligibility clause referred to anyone who was a U.S. citizen at birth either by a U.S. statute or via the Constitution. The Constitution has no definition section, and subsequently the Supreme Court has stated that when the Constitution is silent the law must be interpreted in the light of the common law, the principles and history of which were familiarly known to the framers of the Constitution. My argument is simple, it is reasonable to assume that the framers, most of whom were well trained lawyers, purposely did not define the term natural born citizen believing that the controlling common law principle was Jus Soli, and that Congress would pass corresponding statutes to accommodate any exceptions to this principle similar to the practice that occurred in England with Parliament. A. The Common Law Meaning of the Natural Born Clause at the Time of Its Adoption in the Constitution Most Likely Meant the Strict Approach of Jus Soli with the addition of Naturalization Statutes. According to one of the most famous English jurists of all time, Sir William Blackstone, the definition natural born was best understood as a division of people into aliens and ... • 7. The Value Of The Balance Sheet The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes, and what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are primarily focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheet of our company, we will explain each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts. To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the assets. In the cash and cash equivalent, we have seen that the cash in hand decreased in 2013 from $3,931 to $3,421 in 2014. This shall shows that the company may have spent cash on inventories and other goods for the benefit of the company. In the receivables aspect, the amount of receivables has begun to increase from 2013 to 2014 with an increase rate of 11.6%. In other terms, it increased from $6,967 in 2013 to $7,822 in 2014. This was an infinitesimal increase and it shows that the company had a lot of companies owing them for the purchase of the Walt Disney Products and land usage. One way to understand this, is that the majority of the people who are killed are Muslims, and so those true Muslims are suffering just as much as anyone else in this world who wants to end terrorism. This is what needs to be understood, the line between the true definition of a religion and the fabricated one made by individuals and groups, as well as the role our media is playing in regards to this important distinction. • 11. Heroic Qualities Of Odysseus Homer s epic poem The Odyssey begins by painting Odysseus as a brave and powerful leader and an impulsive decision maker who over time becomes more intelligent; Homer develops these relatable and heroic characteristics through detailed imagery and word choice as well as through symbols and homeric similes which amplify the representation of Odysseus as a normal person as well as a heroic figure. Odysseus s tendency to succumb to impulsive strokes of curiosity enables readers to relate with his inner character. The protagonist gives into the natural human curiosity to find and fix one s weakness. Circe tells him of the sirens who know the secrets of Odysseus s weakness, she also tells him that listening to their knowledge is unwise and he along with his crew should close their ears. However, in his impulsivity, Odysseus actually tells his crew to force him to listen while they cover their ears. Odysseus also shows his impulses in regards to thirst for knowledge when he sends two scouts to explore the land of the Lotus Eaters, knowing full well that their chance of return is unlikely. This quest for knowledge could have been in a slower, but more logical and effective way. This shows how Odysseus can easily succumb to less logical ideas if it is a question of his power or knowledge. Another constant in his early story is his portrayal as a daring and fearless figure, often taking control and triumphing over potential threats. Odysseus witnesses two of his shipmates be ... An ecosystem is an interacting and interdependent community made up of both living and non living parts. Ecosystems include the air, water, soil, and sunlight as well as all the living organisms present, from the simplest amoeba to the plants and more complex animals that are all a part of the system. Nursing Self Regulation Essay A profession can be defined as a prestigious occupation with a high degree of identification among its member that requires a length and rigorous education in an intellectually demanding and theoretically based course of study; that engages in rigorous self regulation and control; that holds authority over clients; and that puts service to society above simple self interest (Schwirian, 1998, p. 6). Nursing is just that, and with its specific body of knowledge, standards, and codes of ethics, it is only fitting that it be self regulated (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2012). The College of Nurses works with registered nurses, registered practical nurses, and nurse practioners to determine whether or not standards and best practices are met and that the public s safety is protected. Specific Knowledge Self regulation is the idea of a professional group entering an agreement with the government to regulate their activities of their members (Canadian Nurses Association, 2007). This allows the government to have a small role in the control over the practice of the profession and the services that the members provide, but they do not have to gain in depth expertise to regulate the profession that would be needed if it were under direct regulation. • 15. Louis Pasteur s How To Vaccinate Against Infectious Disease Louis Pasteur discovered how to vaccinate against infectious disease, but it was a long process before he got to that point. He first studied the process of fermentation, which is when sugars are turned into alcohol. When a vinegar manufacturer wanted to know why his vinegar was spoiling, Pasteur found that it was because yeast (a microscopic fungus) had come in contact with the juice. He found that by heating the beet juice to a controlled temperature, the yeast was killed, and the fermentation process was stopped. Today this process is known as pasteurization, and it is applied to all kinds of food such as milk and cheese. He took what he had learned and eventually isolated the organism that was causing silk worm eggs to be infected with disease and developed a method to prevent the eggs from becoming ... Eventually, he applied his knowledge to the medical industry by asking doctors to sterilize their medical instruments by heating them to prevent the spread of germs. When an anthrax epidemic broke out among animals, he discovered that the anthrax bacillus was the carrier of the disease. By using the heating method he used to kill the yeast in food, Pasteur heated the bacillus enough to weaken it, and then he injected it into the animals to allow their bodies to build up a resistance against the bacteria. It worked, and Pasteur eventually developed a vaccine for rabies and other infectious diseases like cholera and smallpox. Pasteur had many questions that motivated his discoveries. Where are the micro organisms coming from that cause fermentation? Can the fermentation process be stopped? If fermentation can be stopped in food, can that same concept be applied to protect the body from infectious disease? Then there was the motivation initiated through the ... Diabetes can impair blood flow to your feet and cause nerve damage (Castro 180). High blood sugar can injure nerve fibers throughout your body, but diabetic neuropathy most often damages nerves in legs and feet. Enigmatically, recent reports have described that long term tight glycemic control may be major risk factor for the development of diabetic neuropathy (Zhang, et al. 1). Diabetic neuropathy can also affects the eyes, retinopathy, increasing the risk for glaucoma and blindness. Physicians recommend eye exams every six months to one year. The eyes must be checked often as vision can deteriorate quickly in patients with diabetes. A person with diabetes may not be aware of a wound or injury to their foot due to a decreased sensation in their feet, a condition called diabetic neuropathy. Therefore, great care must be taken to inspect the feet everyday. Neuropathy is a chronic condition, which will get worst over the time. Been diagnosed with neuropathy can change a patients life; this can turn into a chronic disease that will be treated with adequate medication, maintaining low blood sugars, doing self examinations of the feet to prevent any further complications and visiting the physician as directed to do routine check ups. Law is most commonly seen in old and modern day tv shows with criminal being thrown behind bars or perhaps in the news with the difficult legal system that no one adheres to anymore,, said lawyer John Adkins in an interview. My interest in law began when I was a young girl. I would check out books whose subjects ranged from law in general to actual criminal cases both solved and unsolved. My mind would drink in all the details from the evidence, to the trial, and finally to the conviction of the accused. One day, I was allowed to check out a DVD of a solved case in which the defendant was found not guilty of the sudden and mysterious death of his wife. I was intrigued by hearing and arguments of both sides. Convinced of the mans guilt, I set out on my own little investigation which yielded little more than the awakening of my interest then and there. Unable to disguise my growing interest, I told my mom of my dream to become a lawyer. She advised me to carefully think of all the schooling required to achieve such a career. Past studies indicate the bare minimum requirements include a high school diploma, any or all classes involving government, social studies, and economics, speech courses, technology or computer classes. After high school, four years of basic college work is required. College classes would have to cover: liberal arts track, english, history, economics, social studies, logic, public speaking, as well as agriculture and political science. Law school ... • 18. The Effect Of Acid Concentration On Plant Plants And... Introduction Gibberellic Acid is a naturally occurring plant growth hormone that belongs to the gibberellin group (Gupta and Chakrabarty, 2013). Gibberellins are responsible for stem growth in plants and regulate the synthesis of proteins. Gibberellic acid is a by product of the Gibberella Fujikuroi fungi which has the effect of causing developing rice plants stems to grow in such an expeditious manner that the plant collapses (John M. Riley, 1987). The experiment s variables include the independent variable, which is the concentration of gibberellic acid that is used to soak the seeds, and the time period of germination, as well as the dependant variable, which is the number of seeds that germinate. The control used to compare seed germination and in this situation is the sample with a gibberellic acid concentration of 0 ppm. Constants in the experiment include factors affecting seed germination such as constant temperatures where each sample receives the same temperature and in the case of variation the same amount of variation, quantity of moisture where the same amount of gibberellic acid is added to each bag corresponding to the concentration, the samples should also receive the same conditions of light, have the same sowing density, and number of seeds per square centimetre. A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has immerged within a group of students. The crisis began on the second week of school when a number of teachers were displaced from their assignment at this particular school. This displacement caused a lot of emotional pushback by other teachers, parents and most definitely students. One particular student moved quickly in an attempt to rally the students to support the displaced teachers. Introduction This paper will zero in on compare and contrast two different regions which are Bordeaux and Burgundy in the same field: location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes. Discuss the early history of the development of each region, including the specific examples. Then review the location, Climate and Terroir, and Grapes that rank the wines as among the best in the world. To conclude, look into the future of each region to analyze prospects for continued success. The history of Bordeaux Wine The history of the Bordeaux wine region dates back to the ancient Romans who were the first people to cultivate, plant vineyards and produce Bordeaux wine. The Romans took over the area in about 60 BC, and it was starting to earn fame for its wines as far back as in 1152 when Henry of England wed Eleanor of Aquitaine, who controlled the region. The Bordeaux appellation was perfect for cultivating grapes for wine. It offered the unique combination of the right soil for growing grapes used in the production of wine coupled with easy access to the Garonne river, which was needed to help ship the wines. Because after a series of attacks on the city in 1206, greater freedom was granted, so it lead to the 12th century became the start of Bordeaux s golden age. • 23. Shakespeare s Use of the Idea of Disguise in As You Like It Shakespeare uses the idea of disguise in many of his plays. It is used as an escape from the characters personalities and sometimes for comic effect. In As You Like it, the disguise becomes very comical as in the time it was written only men could act on stage. This could lead to much confusion and comedy in the roles of those in disguise. Disguise can give the freedom to a character to act how they like and a chance for them to show their views. It was in the 16th Century that there became an increased sense of self consciousness and identity. This led to people creating an image for themselves. If one can create a self, they can create many different versions of themselves each showing a different aspect of that person. This links in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, simply because her personality is not accepted as a woman, it does not mean that she is not presenting it. By showing that she enjoys watching the wrestling, she is revealing her true personality. She does not have to be disguised as a boy to do this. The disguise may show other aspects of the character s personality but it is still shown through their everyday person. Another point to make on this matter would be that the character of Rosalind would have been played by a male and the audience would know this. This could mean that the reason Shakespeare included Rosalind s enjoyment of manly sports was because Rosalind is actually a man in the attire of a woman. There is a large confusion of the gender of Rosalind throughout the play. By confusing the gender, Shakespeare is focusing more on the personality of Rosalind than her appearance. The question of gender is continued at the very end of the play. In many of his plays, Shakespeare ends with an epilogue read by a male character. In As You Like it, the epilogue is performed by Rosalind. The epilogue seems to be outside the play as if the actor was talking but Rosalind is still in character. She says herself; It is ... Statistical studies have shown that the price elasticity of demand is 0.4, and the price elasticity of supply is 0.5. Using this information, derive linear demand and supply curves for the cigarette market. 7. In Example 2.7 we examined the effect of a 20 percent decline in copper demand on the price of copper, using the linear supply and demand curves developed in Section 2.6. Suppose the long run price elasticity of copper demand were 0.4 instead of 0.8. a. Assuming, as before, that the equilibrium price and quantity are P* = 75 cents per pound and Q* = 7.5 million metric tons per year, derive the linear demand curve consistent with the smaller elasticity. b. Using this demand curve, recalculate the effect of a 20 percent decline in copper demand on the price of copper. 8. Example 2.8 analyzes the world oil market. Using the data given in that example, a. • 27. Analysis Of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide The characters between the two adaptations are portrayed in contrasting ways due to the diverse cast. In the 1981 s adaption of For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Enuf the characters are all their own entity keeping each story separate. While the actors and actresses remain the same through the entire film, the characters come from a variety of backgrounds including half Latino women to a young woman receiving an abortion. These stories are cohesive only through the actions and lives of African American women, not through a plot which interconnects these stories. This way of expressing the different types of women and what they stand for creates the cohesion that is necessary for this form of literature. In the 2010 s For Colored Girls, Tyler Perry attempted to create a cohesive narrative through connecting each of the monologues with the characters. Each woman is given a role from the novel but has added on story elements outside of the original play. For example, the play has a part that states, this note is attached to a plant i ve been waterin since the day i met you you may water it yr damn self . In the 1981 play, the woman is speaking to herself in the mirror as if trying to get the nerve to express herself to her lover. Across the world, whether it be in a first or a third world country, there are populations which tend to be segregated into communities and form part of the low socioeconomic status. These groups, usually termed slums , are heavily ostracised and are usually sought to be removed and stopped in their growth. Drawing from different locations as examples, I will firstly discuss how slums are established and the many complex economic, social and political issues which keep the slum alive in this modern age. There is also the matter of highlighting the way in which we define a slum and the people living within it and how this may affect slum growth. Lastly, I will make an allusion to measures that try and stop the advance of slums and their effectiveness. The origins and development of a slum are varied and complex. As there are a myriad of possible scenarios and variations, to avoid over complexity, there are a few key political, economic and social factors that are a running theme within the majority of slums. Most of these aspects transpire concurrently and are inextricably linked. One of the main causes of a slum s creation is due to rapid urbanisation in a city that is unable to keep up with the growing demands. The rapid influx of people to cities could be for several reasons: moving from rural areas to find work in bigger cities or migrating from a war torn country. Upon moving to these larger towns, they are unable to afford housing due to lower incomes in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The narrator is a conflicted man who wants to kill an old man for no clear reason. The narrator describes his love for the old man, as the following quote portrays, I loved the old man. He had never wronged me, yet the narrator still wants to take the old man s life. At the beginning of the story he mentions that he had a disease, from which the readers can infer that he is possibly mentally instable, as it is stated, The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them. Poe describes the story in a really vivid manner which allows the reader to visualize the story. Hence, I decided to depict the story in the form of a book cover, to help visualize the story in a single image, from which the readers can have an idea of the overall plot. The book cover has a single eye ball in the middle of the cover, with all the attention focused on it, because it is the main reason of the murder plot. Like a history of evolution, a history of human symbolic representation is heavily dependent on the act of reproduction. This reproduction has manifested itself quite literally. For example, when a painter finds something in nature to be beautiful, she can reproduce it on the canvas and when a writer finds a moment to be inspiring, she can transcribe the moment into a set of instructions [i.e. words] about how [a reader] can imagine or construct [that moment] (Dreaming by the Book, Scarry, 6). Like sexual reproduction which allows organisms to share their genetic material in order to continue species and to create new organisms, pictures and words help with a lateral transfer of cultural information, its continuance and recombination. To create a symbol of something with a string of words or with an art material is to perpetuate that which is beautiful for future generations. According to Dennett, before there were words, there were no word meanings, even if there were other sorts of meanings. (402) Dennett s hypothesis reminds us, at the most basic level that symbols mean something. To say that there are only a couple of meanings behind all artwork and writing would be to deny the complexity of the human symbol making and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
