Speech On Molecular Gastronomy
I What is molecular gastronomy?
A Definition
Ice sphere cocktails, grenadine sirop caviar and disappearing transparent raviolis are all examples
of Molecular gastronomy. This discipline is a mixture of physics and chemistry and is used to
transform the taste and the texture of food. We commonly use the term Molecular Gastronomy in
order to describe a new style of cuisine. Chefs now use tools from the science laboratory, and
unusual ingredients from the food industry to expend their culinary possibilities. Officially, it is the
scientific discipline that explains the chemical and physical transformations and mechanisms that
occur while cooking. It also studies the social, artistic and technical side of gastronomy.

Cole Stryker What Is Wrong With Public Shaming
What s wrong with public shaming? An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (Hammurabi). Now
in this day and age most might say this is excessive, but when it comes to public shaming, far too
many are not quite as hesitant. In Cole Stryker s excerpt The Problem with Public Shaming, he
makes it quite clear that there are better ways to punish an individual rather than ruining their lives
by publicly humiliating them. Cole states public shaming is a thing of the past and should find
new ways to treat criminals, that to dox (digging up of a target s personal information) an
individual is harmful to both parties, and stating that public shaming is counterproductive. An eye

It is human nature for people to get even with whomever does them wrong. Hollywood the
movie industry has made and is going to make countless moves on people getting their revenge.
This human reaction not only distances oneself from the right to logic, but leaves no room for
the chance of forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is resentment towards a certain person or
a multitude of people. Cole gives many examples of the counterproductive ways that deal with
public shaming. For example, when someone is effected by a crime and they look for help from
local police forces, but are rejected from such task force. This rejection now casts an ideology
that all police officers do not care, in return leaving a disdainful image of all police officers. Now
with the case Black Lives Matter, this organization preaches to the masses that police officers
are patrolling the streets look for young black men to kill. This movement stemmed from no
justice being brought forward to the accused criminal. There has been multiple incidents like the
one previously stated which is why such a hatred has been casted upon all police forces in
America. Rather than jailing the person responsible, a mere slap on the wrist is all that happens.
Police officers all over America are scared to do their job, living in the shadows trying to keep
themselves on the right side of the ledger. Trying to keep as much distance as possible away from
groups trying to inflict

Beowulf Values
Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, is an oral story about a Norse hero. Beowulf is a pagan
story with Christian influences. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and
Sweden. The basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are
values that are displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include
being prudent (19), and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a
person s status in a kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary
Norse traditions are funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of
respect and peace. In several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these
cases, a glorious hero saves the day. Beowulfis this hero. Beowulf arrives in Heorot hall to
maintain order, in order to gain glory, and save the Danes. However, these heroes do not last
forever. Beowulf s downfall occurs because he did not listen to Hrothgar s advice, he was a good
king; but his followers did not come to his aid, and his actions, attitudes and beliefs. Hrothgar s
advice is composed of two different aspects: one being mindful of the fragility of live, and the
second being mindful of the dangers in power. No life is immune to danger; Hrothgar s experience
proves this. Hrothgar states I ruled the Ring Danes country for fifty years, defending them in
wartime (1769 1770) until Grendel

Linda De Pauw s contribution of Land of the Unfree: Legal Limitations on Liberty in Revolutionary
America , written in a gender method discusses the slavery issue that was carefully overlooked
during the time that the Declaration of Independence was composed by Thomas Jefferson. De
Pauw discusses the irony of the colonists as they fought for their independence at the same time
maintaining the enslavement of the majority of the colonies population. Her article dared to voice
the unspoken notion that previous historians carefully avoided the issues of slavery. During this
time there was enslavements of both blacks and whites, however, there was different legal
restrictions for each classification of color.
De Pauw, discusses the majority and minority statistics, reflecting the gender history of the
population of the thirteen colonies during this time. Statistics shows the majority of the population
were indeed the less fortunate enslaved blacks, indentured white males and all females. Ironically
the minority numbers were the actual white males that pursued the liberty of this nation. De Pauw
proceeds to analyze the psychological legal ramifications of the majority of the population. She
discusses the legal status, traditions and practices that failed to provide the same liberties to all

Nursing Home Abuse And Neglect
Nursing home residents are often subject to abuse and neglect. But the biggest problem is that
nursing home neglect is often not easy to detect. Part of the problem is that a large majority of
nursing home residents are very old. Some can hardly speak while others may be suffering from
dementia or maybe just too afraid to speak up.
In many cases, nursing home abuse and neglect may not even be evident in any physical form.
We all know that emotional abuse often has no physical scars but can leave massive scars on the
inside. There may be situations where the behavior of the nursing home resident changes but even
this can be overlooked by family and friends as they may dismiss such change to old age or
diseases like dementia or Alzheimer s.
For families of nursing home residents in Middleburg, Florida, it is important to be aware of some
warning signs that your loved one may be a victim of nursing home abuse or neglect. These
warning signs include:
Continued loss of body weight
Frequent skin infections
Bed Sores
Sudden change in personality, fearful, scared, or crying
Withdrawn and not socially interactive
Pressure ulcer
Recurrent falls
Worsening of personal hygiene
Environment not safe like slippery floors, poor lighting, broken furniture, unclean bathroom
If you observe any of these warning signs and are fairly certain that your loved one is being
abused or neglected, call a Middleburg nursing home abuse lawyer as soon as possible. Today

2. 1 Describe The Theory Of How Individuals Interact In...
2.1 Explain theories of how individuals interact in groups in relation to the types of teams that work
in health and social care. The most famous theory of group working is Tuckman s (1965) model.
Tuckman (1965) divided the team s interaction into four different phases; forming, storming,
norming and performing. The first step, forming, is where all members are learning about the
opportunities and challenges facing the team. Whereas the second step storming, is where different
ideas to tackle problems or issues are developed. The third step, norming, is where the team
members fall into agreement over the solutions for their team. In this step, the team members are
able to talk openly about their opinions and have the ability to adjust their behaviour to avoid
conflict. The final step, performing, is where the team fully understands, co operates and supports
one another, thereby working as a single unit rather than individuals. Teams that have reached this
step display high levels of motivation, knowledge, competence and autonomy (Armstrong, 2006).
Dr Meredith Belbinstated that for a team to be effective, it has to have the following nine
characteristics: resource investigator, team worker, coordinator, plant, monitor evaluator, specialist,
shaper, implementer, completer finisher. This does not mean that every team requires nine people.
Most people will have two or three Team Roles that they are most comfortable with. There are no
good or bad Team Roles. Each Team Role has

Advantages Of Sacrificial Anode
Engineering Chemistry (CHY1001)
Digital Assignment 1
Ans1. a) Sacrificial anodic protection:
Sacrificial anodes are exceptionally active metals used to prevent less active metal surfaces from
eroding. They are constructed from a metal alloy having a higher negative electrode potential
than the metal surface it will be used to safeguard. The sacrificial anode will get depleted in place
of the metal it is protecting. This is why it is referred to as sacrificial anode.
The materials used for making a sacrificial anode are either comparatively pure active metals such
as Zinc and Magnesium, or alloys of Magnesium or Aluminium precisely developed to be used as a
sacrificial anode.
They are used to protect water heaters, pipelines, underground tanks, hulls of ships, etc. (Sacrificial
anode used for cathodic protection.)

If these metals are put in contact (or otherwise electrically connected), this potential difference
yields electron flow amidst them. Corrosion of the less corrosion resistant metal is usually
elevated and attack to the more resistant material is decreased, as compared to the behaviour of
these metals when they are not in contact. The less resistant metal becomes anode and the more
resistant metal becomes the cathode. Usually the cathodic metal corrodes very less or not at all in
this form of couple. Due to the electric currents and dissimilar metals involved, this type of
corrosion is called galvanic or two metal corrosion. It is an electrochemical

Selecting A Health Care Provider Summary
Chapter One
Selecting a Health Care Provider
At no time should a patient feel uneasy with the treatment they receive, or the overall environment
of the facility they are visiting. All staff should address concerns with a professional approach.
According to Issidoros Sarinopoulos, Ph.D., a professor of radiology at Michigan State University,
Patients should pay attention to how their doctor makes them feel and recognize empathy as a
desirable characteristic in a physician.
A Good Healthcare Provider Does the Following:
Treats all questions and concerns with respect
Responds in a timely manner
Reserves judgement
Asks permission before any testing is performed
Approaches office visits with an unrushed setting

At no time should you feel unable to maintain your own well being due to judgement from medical
providers. Today s medical school graduates have had more training on sexual health than their
more established counterparts, but it is still possible to encounter a doctor who lacks a thorough
approach to patient sexual health.
Chapter 2
Preventative Sexual Health Services
Preventative services include vaccines, screenings for transmitted diseases and infections and
counseling to assist in making health minded decisions. Regardless of one s ability to pay for
preventative services, they have a right to these services through community organizations.
However, not all communities offer comprehensive preventative sexual health services at no cost or
low cost. Research what is available in your area, starting with your local Planned Parenthood
office.
Males should be aware that Planned Parenthood offers reproductive services, general health care,
sexual health services and cancer screenings for men. The company is widely known for their
female sexual health services, but Planned Parenthood also assists males in the following gender
specific areas:
Erectile dysfunction exam, education, treatment and referrals
Male sterilization (vasectomy)
Jock itch exam and treatment

Italian Immigrants in America Essay
Italian Immigrants in America
Ever since the United States was founded, immigrants have been arriving on its soil. The first white
inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for many reasons, such as
religion and opportunity. As the country grew and became more prosperous, it became more
enticing to foreigners looking for opportunity. This continued into the 20th century and finally
during the 1920 s, the United States began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country,
mostly for cultural and economic reasons. Even the immigrants that were allowed in during the 20
s faced many hardships such as religious persecution, racism, and xenia phobia. One of the major
groups of immigrants during that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The old stock Americans weren t used to the immigrants and for this reason they thought less of
them and oppressed them. The Italians and other immigrants were blamed for many of the nations
problems. For example, the government led raids on immigrants houses because they feared the
immigrants were communists. This was evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two
Italian immigrants were convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial
evidence. They were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs
also brought the immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and most of the
Italians were catholic. The immigrants and Italians also helped to bring on prohibition. The
Americans didn t approve of their drinking habits; therefore the prohibition amendment was made
for this and other reasons. Job competition was also a major reason for the racist feelings of the
Americans. Native white workers saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt
they should have. A good example of this competition was birds of passage. These were Italian
workers who came to work in the U.S. but later returned to Italy with the money they earned in the
U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to the United States, but 2.1 million left to return to

Literary Essay on A Story of an Hour
The Story of An Hour focuses on sixty minutes in the life of a young nineteenth century woman,
Mrs. Mallard. Upon learning of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard experiences an epiphany about
her future without a husband. Her life, due to heart problems, suddenly ends after she unexpectedly
finds out her husband is actually alive. Mrs. Mallard s actions cause the reader to cogitate a hidden
meaning weaved into Kate s short story. Chopin had an ideathat women felt confined in their
marriages, and the idea is brought out through the protagonist s initial reaction, excessive joy, and
new perspective of the world following the upsetting news. The first example of the theme arises
when the protagonist wept at once, with sudden, wild... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mallard s unexpected bout of joy also supports the theme; if she was not feeling confined, her
feelings of grief would not have been replaced by excessive joy. Time moves along, and she
continues to whisper free! Body and soul free! (Chopin 2). It is further understood that the character
was released from a constricted marriage because the words willingly slip roll off her tongue.
The last example occurs during and after Mrs. Mallard watches the tops of trees that were all
aquiver with the new spring life (Chopin 1). This shows that the character s image of the world
is already changed since she was informed of her husband s death. In the twelfth paragraph,
Chopin uses her character s new perspective of the world to exemplify the confinement women
felt. The character understood she had no one to live for during those coming years; she would
live for herself (Chopin 2). Mrs. Mallard s thoughts revolve around her limitations during
marriage. She soon realizes that she would have no powerful will bending hers (Chopin 2). Mrs.
Mallard was likely controlled her entire marriage; and now she is released from her husband s
dominance. Before opening the door for her sister, she was thinking about all sorts of days that
would be her own (Chopin 2). The character looked forward to her new life ahead of her because
of the new freedom she has gained; she thought about the future that involved her freedom from
marriage. Mrs. Mallard eventually says a prayer to herself

Then on a spontaneous occurrence, racial exclusion and divide began to change as the 1970 s

conflict increased between gangs. From the novella Can t Stop Won t Stop, Jeff Chang
describes that gangs would compete through lyrics and song, The song climaxed with a
promise: We are gonna take you higher with Ghetto Brother Power! (Chang, 106). This was vital
to the establishment of hip hop culture as this conflict between gangs influenced a yearning for
competition, thus allowing for hip hop to be explored and practiced. While these gangs may
have been a battleground for turf wars and anarchy, hip hop was bringing peace and unity
amongst the Bronx population. John Surico, a writer for Vice News, interviews the director

peace over violence... That was not the norm of the day (Surico, 2015). It can be seen that hip hop
changed the view of gang members which is surprising despite the fact that revenge in the Bronx
was highly common. On the contrary, the gangs were redirecting their violent

Interpretation Of Genesis
The Bible is the world s most widely read book. It contains multiple holy books that reveal who
God is and account for His many works for humankind. These books describe the story of God
from creation, to the fall, to redemption, and lastly to the new creation known as revelation. The big
picture of the Bibleis to tell the story of God s works from creation of the world, which was
Genesis, to the end, which is revelation. It is important to familiarize oneself with these passages
and texts because they serve the purpose to teach important lessons to help humankind live in
God s image. As stated in the ESV Study Guide, The Bible contains 66 books, written in three
languages over 1,500 years by dozens of authors writing in numerous genres for diverse
audiences. For this reason, the meaning of the texts of the Bible are left to each reader s
interpretations and requires technical skill and spiritual receptivity. This assignment will
demonstrate my knowledge and interpretation of the Bible and its big picture. Graeme
Goldsworthy s work on biblical theology, outlines the story of the bible as God s people in God s
place under God s rule, meaning God is the creator of everything (Shaw). The bible begins with the
book of Genesis. Genesis comes from the Greek word of origin . It is the book of the origin of
the world and the beginning of Creation, as God is the creator of all things, include people. The

Rothko was well accepted in the New York art community, but experienced limited success
during this time. Needing to add to his income he took a position at the Center Academy
instructing sculpture and painting and maintained this position from 1929 to 1952. As Rothko
advanced in his painting style he began to metamorphose from using imagery and symbolism to
using colour fields. Typically his paintings feature large rectangular expanses of colour arranged
parallel to each other, usually in a vertical arrangement. The edges of these shapes are softly
uneven, giving them a hazy, pulsating quality, and they seem to gently hover or float over the
canvas. The paintings are often very large and the effect they produce is generally one of
calmness and contemplation, but in spite of their tranquility, they cost Rothko enormous
emotional effort: I m not an abstract artist...I m not interested in the relationship of colour or

Essay on Measuring Organizational Safety Culture
Measuring Organizational Safety Culture Introduction How does an organization assess safety
culture? Before we tackle that question lets define safety culture. There are many definitions of
safety culture but for the purpose of this discussion we will define safety culture as a Collective
values and norms an organization has regarding safety , Terry Miller, National Safety Council.
Most safety professionals would agree to adequately assess an organization s safety culture you
must first develop a series of indicators to gauge performance. Those indicators should be a

One must caution reliance solely on lagging indicators such as injury and illness data as they are
after the fact measurements focusing on past performance. Lagging indicators may tell you where
incidents have occurred in the past but they will not tell you where incidents are likely to occur in
the future. A second safety indicator often used to gauge organizational safety culture is near miss
reporting. Near miss reporting is categorized as an unplanned event not resulting in an undesirable
consequence, however; having the potential to do so. Recognizing and reporting near miss
incidents can have a positive impact on organizational safety performance. Near miss reporting not
only provides valuable information to prevent future incidents it also provides an excellent
opportunity for employees to actively participate in an organizations safety system. Near miss
reporting also increases communication between management and hourly personnel creating a
culture of teamwork leading to a safer work environment. Another leading safety indicator often
used to gauge safety culture is behavioral safety observations. An integral component of most
behavioral safety programs the number of field observations and percent of at risk behavior of a
particular target will often be tracked. Safety observation and feedback can improve safety

Insomnia With Short Sleep Duration And Mortality Essay

results stemming from the study. We will focus on the study itself and of its participants. We will

Tattooing in Samoa
Introduction: why does this matter? Origin story and meaning The Samoans are an ethnic group
that reside in Oceania, on the islands of Samoa, in an area of Polynesia. Samoa has been
occupied by these indigenous people for about 3000 years, when they came from the west,
occupying the islands of Fiji and Tonga around the same time (Barnes and Hunt 2005, 243). They
carry many traditions with their culture, however, I will be discussing their tradition of tattooing.
Tattooing is the process of inserting ink pigment into someone s skin to create a permanent design
on them. For Samoans, tattoos are much more significant than just a pretty piece of artwork, they
are, according to Ryman (2004), a right of passage. I will be reviewing the importance of cultural
tattoos, the process of being tattooed, and the varying origin stories of how tattooing first came to
Samoa. Samoan tattooing matters because it is a cultural tradition that has been practiced in Samoa
for over 3000 years (Ellis 2006, 698).
Demographics:
Samoa is divided into two, separate nations, The Independent State of Samoa (referred to as
Samoa) and Territory of American Samoa(referred to as American Samoa). Samoa, formerly known
as Western Samoa, is an independent nation based on a unitary parliamentary democracy, which
consists of a legislative, executive, and judiciary branch (Government of Samoa). Samoa is made

argues that less parental instruction is needed on campuses today. Johnson appeals to college
boards, educators, professors, and parents alike to help remake policy on campus. Johnson s
purpose in writing this article comes from the rise in complexity that college life has become. He
emphasizes that parents should be involved in their son s/daughter s college life, but suggests ways
to help eliminate academic bureaucracy, which would streamline parental involvement. Johnson
claims that parents are busy enough without having to traverse the difficulties of introductory
college processes with their sons/daughters and gives arguments to support these ideas. Although
there are flaws in his writing, over all Johnson writes convincingly, using plain speech with well
thought out word choice and rhetorical strategies which give him credibility in the eyes of the
reader about his ideas and arguments. Johnson does an excellent job of starting off his argumentby
appealing to the readers emotions. He provides a glimpse into his first impressions of college. He
shows that although his parents didn t help him register for college and were not there in person
holding his hand, they were supportive, loving, and he didn t turn out worse for wear. Johnson s

What Is The Similarities Between Pride And Prejudice And...
Interrelationships in Joe Wright s Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Atonement (2007)
Joe Wright (London, 1972 ) is an internationally acclaimed English film director. He is particularly
famous for the cinematic adaptations of two major works within English Literature; that is, Jane
Austen s Pride and Prejudice (1813) and Ian McEwan s Atonement (2001). In the following essay, I
shall discuss the interrelationships that can be found between the two, with a special focus on the
central motifs, the audio visuals, the cast and crew and lastly, the angle taken by Wright himself on
his own cinematic production.
Pride and Prejudice and Atonement s central motifs are to some extent alike. In Pride and
Prejudice, the couple has to hurdle both Darcy s pride and Elizabeth s derisive prejudice towards
him so that they fulfil their love. In Atonement, love is also an important theme, yet Cecilia and
Robbie s relationship is portrayed quite differently. In Pride and Prejudice, love and desire are
portrayed in a more sentimental and chaste manner whereas in Atonement the portrait is much more
troublesome and passionate. The historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As regards soundtrack, both films share composer Dario Marianelli. Concerning camerawork,
the steadicam tracking shot should be highlighted. It is used in both films, in Pride and Prejudice
for example, it is used at the beginning of the narrative when Elizabeth goes through the laundry
and we enter to the house for the first time, and it is also used at one of the balls. In Atonement,
this shot is used to portray a clear image of the war. The use of these shots give the viewer a sense
of being inside the story; they engage viewers in the narrative. Besides, when Wright was asked at
the Toronto Film Festival whether such shots excited him when he is watching a film, he

Ruby Moon By Matt Cameron
Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron
The Artslink Queensland production of Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron can be described as an
example of the Australian Gothic dramatic style. Ruby Moon, set in picture perfect Flaming Tree
Grove, is about the tragic dilemma of a couple, Ray and Sylvie, trying to cope with the earlier
disappearance of their young daughter, Ruby, while on the way to visit her grandmother at the end
of the cul de sac (Queensland Education, 2014).
Matt Cameron s, Ruby Moon, is an award winning contemporary Australian playwright and
screenwriter based in Melbourne which depicts a uniquely Australian landscape; employing the
conventions of the Australian Gothic Theatrical style (Queensland TheatreCompany, 2009). In the
production of Ruby Moon, the stage setting creates dramatic meaning and purpose. Ruby Moon
is set in an Australian suburban town in picture perfect Flaming Tree Grove where Ray and
Sylvie s daughter, Ruby, disappears on her way to visit her grandma at the end of the cul de sac
(HCS, 2014). The intimacy and secrecy of the Flaming Tree Grove community and its lack of
safety adds to the supernatural and paranormal intrusions of Australian Gothic Theatre. The Ruby
Moon production was fuelled and inspired by fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Snow
White, Hansel and Gretel, and Alice in Wonderland, and also newspaper headings and stories about
families and their missing children scattered around the world. Matt Cameron s purpose of the
production

Storming Team Development
Leadership and followership are worthless when a strong foundation for a team is absent. Few
teams quickly begin operating and succeeding without taking time to progress through the stages of
team development, which reinforces the necessity of educating students on these four stages:
Forming, storming, norming and performing (Day). The forming stage is simple, as it is a group
of individuals joining together to form a team. Most people can accomplish this task without any
knowledge or training, but those who partake in a team building course gain knowledge to form a
stronger team from its inception. Such knowledge allows team members to break through the

While they recently emerged from the storming stage with higher levels of motivation and
increased knowledge, one variable can send them tumbling back into the storming stage (Norming).
Such variables include new challenges obstructing a team s physical progress to their goal, as well
as interpersonal issues that linger after the team s exit from the storming state; the former issue is
easily resolved once the latter is effectively dealt with. If individuals are unaware of the correct
methods of improving their interpersonal issues, which include, Issues of strengthening
relationships, open communication, and positive/constructive feedback the team will ultimately
bear the burdens of team members ineffectively settling persistent issues (Norming). While a team
building course attempts to disrupt a team during this stage, it also nurtures an environment for
teams to work through any remaining differences and begin to form a tighter bond within its ranks.
Individuals gain greater proficiency with their interpersonal relations, enabling themselves to
collaborate with and place greater trust in their teammates. Through partaking in a team building

Essay about Violence, Corruption, and Wealth in American...
Today s society is no stranger to violence and corruption. We see it in our streets, on our
television and movie screens, and we hear it in music. However, a clearer connection is being
made between this corruption and wealth. Our culture is beginning to associate dishonesty and
criminal acts with money and material goods. Images of wealth and fame through murder and
mayhem are pounded into Americans heads through a the story lines of Mafia movies and the
lyrics of popular music idols. Producers are thriving on our two biggest cravings: money and
violence. In the novel The Great Gatsby, corruption is a main theme and is used as a gateway to
wealth and fame. As the plot unfolds, the main characters get caught in a tangled web of adulterous

Darcy And Collins Proposal Essay
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be
in want of a wife, this quote is the first line of Pride and Prejudice, which also stands as a
summary for the entire plot of the story: marriage. This plot involves many key events, two of the
most important being Darcy s proposal to Elizabeth and Collins proposal to Elizabeth.
Within both proposals, Darcy and Collins are confident that Elizabeth will accept. Mr. Collins is
Elizabeth s cousin who is next in line to receive the Bennet estate. This reason, with the fact that
his patroness, Lady Catherine, wants him to pursue a wife, is why he proposed to Elizabeth, and
with the estate circumstances, why he assumed she would say yes. Darcy s proposal is similar in
the way that he takes into account how the marriage would be of benefit to Elizabeth and her
family, financially and socially. Both Collins and Darcy speak in a way that comes across as
arrogance. They both take it upon themselves to emphasize the benefits marriage to ... Show more

Elizabeth s sister, Jane, as well as her family. Collin s takes the initiative to state why he is in

My First 12 Step Meeting
For posterity s sake, I tried to recall my first 12 step meeting and have concluded that it was most
likely the year 1996, it was cold in the little town of Altoona. The clubhouse was strange, dark,
smelled of coffee, and full of smoke there, the people were all so different, but all of them
seemed to know some secret code, plus they seemed to talk as if reading bumper stickers. As I
kept coming back, I began to feel more comfortable, understand what was going on, and want what
these people had. People at these meetingswere open, appeared comfortable in their own skins, and
had such, dramatic, fascinating stories that were dark, yet somehow uplifting. Since that time, I
have been to a plethora of various types of meetings at various locations, but there is a theme
throughout of trust, and a bond of acceptance that makes one feel welcome wherever one goes to a
meeting. Therefore, I had a plan to go to Allentown with my fiancГ©e to an NA meeting he used
to go to on Saturday night, however, as things sometimes happens, this did not go as planned.
Not to worry, I have learned long ago that alternative meetings can work just as well, or better. In
fact, for all the meetings I have attended, I have never regretted going, or not gotten something
out of it. Ending up going to one of my favorite meeting places, all worked out for the best, as I
felt it would. The Sunday Morning Speakers Group D 33 at the Muhlenberg Recreation Center on

The issue of race representation which becomes even more serious and cause for concern at the

Analysis of Capital Market Efificiency and the Efficient...
Capital market efficiency is concerned with assessing the movements of security prices over
different time horizons. In this paper, I will briefly discuss capital market efficiency and then finish
with an extensive discussion of the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), which is a leading theory
in explaining some of the major reasons for fluctuations in security prices. From this perspective,
we will examine the three forms of efficiency, supporting and opposing arguments of the EMH,
alternative theories, and potential modifications to the model.
Capital Market Efficiency
The subject of market efficiency is a rich one. Some contend that it is a subject with many
conflicting views about how financial markets react. Others contend that the ... Show more content

The answers to these questions are the building blocks of the EMH.
The Efficient Market Hypothesis
The EMH is a theory developed by Eugene Fama. The main premise of the theory is that, at any
moment, financial securities reflect all available information. The market implication for this belief
is that it s almost impossible to beat the market, based on information alone. In a paper titled, Stock
Market Price Behavior, Fama asserts that security prices are an accurate reflection of all available
information. He also labels markets that reflect all available information as efficient. In addition to
the labeling of financial markets as efficient, Fama also puts forth different degrees of efficiency.
Three forms of efficiency
The efficient market hypothesis exists in three forms, weak, semi strong, and strong form. The first
form is considered weak because it assumes the stock s price is a reflection of its historical
relevance, which includes accounting data (financial statements) and other publicly available
information. At this level, such information is considered immaterial in causing the price of a stock
to change. The second form is semi strong, and it s concerned with market adjustments. In other
words, how do the markets react to all available information? At this level, all accessible
information is assumed be reflected in the stock s price, which can range from historical to future
oriented information made available through public

The Aeneid By Virgil, The Oresteia, And Sappho By Sappho
Rationality affects the way we behave, but emotions change our behavior and drive us to behave
the way we do. People are driven by emotions, yet we can not allow them to be the only thing that
controls our actions and behaviors. Rationality helps control our emotions and prevents them from
getting too out of hand. There are three texts from seminar that demonstrate this idea of emotional
power: The Aeneidby Virgil, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, and Sappho by Sappho. In The Aeneid,
the text discusses Aeneas journey to Italy and the many encounters he had. It was in this text that
the females displayed emotional power. The Oresteia is a play about murder, revenge, and justice

Dido attempts to rid herself of her emotions by burning every trace of Aeneas, yet her emotions
eventually take over. With her heart torn apart, Dido commits suicide. Dido s sister on the other
hand is hurt but still emotionally stable. Anna is stunned, grieving, and hurt by the actions of her

seemingly weird Japanese obsession of a preference for an imperfect smile, and study the possible

numerous prominent Japanese celebrities proudly displaying their Yaeba, with the phrase cute ,
ubiquitous in the descriptions . Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in
pursuit of cute beauty, I posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to
conclusion. After all, a social trend highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I
question if the Yaeba fascination points out to an underlying female subordination trend, where
women are simply keen to please men. It has been suggested in various accounts that Japanese
men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus, 2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like
feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority of men as protectors and evokes a
desire for men to protect women. Such an unhealthy obsession with women possessing child like
appearance also seems to be sexualising women (Considine, 2011) into symbols of possession, and
belittling women as a weaker sex that is dependent on men for

Septic System Research Paper
There a number of myths surrounding things you can add to your septic system, additives that
will supposedly allow you to go longer between pump outs, or inspections. While some of these
may help slightly, none should take the place of a regular inspection by a certified septic service.
Fact of the matter is, most of these additives and quick fixes do little to help your septic system and
some actually can make matters worse. Here are three of the most common myths and why you
should avoid using them.
Extra Bacteria

some bacteria will feed on the yeast, it does nothing to promote good bacteria in your septic tank.
Think about how adding one cup of salt to the ocean would make the water saltier. This is about
the same analogy as adding the recommended amount of yeast to your sewer system. So, Adding
yeast to your septic tank is basically a waste of your time, effort and money.
Baking Soda
The usefulness of baking soda added to homemade cleaning solutions is another one of the septic
tank myths that has ballooned out of proportion. True enough, mixing a little baking soda in
chlorine based cleaners can help reduce the adverse affects these harsh chemicals have on the good
bacteria in your septic tank, but simply adding baking soda all by itself, will do absolutely nothing.

The analyses of mixture were to distinguish and identify homogeneous mixture by using the
techniques of decantation and sublimation. By performing these techniques, we examined our
solutions such as SiO2 (sand), NH4Cl (ammonium chloride), and NaCl (sodium chloride) and
mixed H2O (water) with each solution after being heated. After examining our solutions, we made
calculations by finding the percent mass of each solution once the experiment was completed. In

II. Methods
A. Preliminary Steps
1. Obtain a sample of the mixture. The mixture you will separate contains three components: NaCl,
NH4Cl, and SiO2. Their separation will be accomplished by heating the mixture to sub lime the
NH4Cl, extracting the NaCl with water, and drying the remaining SiO2.
2. Obtain an evaporating dish and carefully weigh it to the nearest 0.01g on top of the loading
scale and record its mass on the data sheet.
3. Place about 3g of the mixture into the evaporating dish and carefully weigh it to the nearest
0.01g with the top loading scale and record its mass on the data sheet.
4. Determine the mass of the mixture by subtracting the mass of the empty evaporating dish from
the mass of the evaporating dish containing the mixture and record the calculated mass onto the
data sheet.
B. Sublimation Steps
1. Place the beaker containing the mixture on the hot plate and heat until the white fumes no longer

The Horror Film Genre
Horror films have been around for over 100 years, petrifying people and bringing their worst
fears to life but still they can t get enough of this sick and gory genre that is unbelievably
entertaining and captivating to the audience. Horror comes with many sub genres from your
bloody slashers like Friday the 13th to your Supernatural Horrors like The Exorcist, but in the end
they all seem to do their job by scaring you and leaving you with nightmares for weeks on end.
Usually Horror s films have the same character stereotypes such as the nerd, the jock, the slut, the
virgin, the junky, the tough hero, the unlikely hero and last but not least the masked murderer, but
yet they all play their own part in the making of these horrors movies whether it is the extremely
slow walk the killer does but almost always catches the victim, or the unwise decision to split up
and investigate where the unusual noise is coming from.
Every film uses pro filmic codes, despite of what genre it is. Location, lighting styles, props,
costumes and compositions are all used. In horrors location is a very big factor to the plot, as it
contributes to the storyline and without a certain location the viewer would get quite confused as
to where it s set, some locations that are frequently used are places like the woods, summer camps
and just normal homes. Props used can vary from many different items whether it is from the killer

Beginners Film Techniques
The movie Beginners was a comical yet gloomy movie drama. Comical and depressed doesn t

the beginning the audience would know what was going to happen. There are various elements that
made this film an interesting disheartening comedydrama. Throughout the filmthe shot (lighting,
costume, and set design) set the whole experience. To some the shot and camerawork and the
number one priority but lack the action and dialogue and the proper actors, but beginners seemed
to have a balance, much like other films. The lighting throughout the film seemed to fit the mood
for example, during some scenes the shot looked smoky or cloudy, but never dark and in scenes
with Hal the sun seemed to shine every time he was in the shot, and when he was happy. Another
important element in the shot is costume, and it plays a major role because the way someone is
dressed helps people understand them better. The costumes fit each character, and although the
costumes were simple they played a role in understating the character. Lastly the set design in the
film was remarkable. The director... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the variation may be beneficial. This may provide them with opportunities to save money when it
comes to paying for their policy holder s care, however this large variation may also be detrimental

The second category is preference (Kongstvedt, 2007). When the term preference is used, what it
means in this sense is that there is more than one way to cure the patient. This means that the
patient has a choice to make between the specific treatments. The patient s preference to certain
treatments defines how utilization management works. Patients in the same region may prefer a
single treatment to another or patients of a specific age demographic may opt out of surgery
when a younger crowd may see it as the only option (Kongstvedt, 2007). The third and final
category of unwarranted care is supply. The term does not refer to supplies as in the usage of
equipment or tools needed to perform a job. The word supply is referring to the treatment that is
most available is the most often used in regards to a patient s care. For instance, in a state that the

expanding and often strongest motivation in American higher education is now money (as quoted
in Bean, 2007, page 240). For instance, budget cuts have been administered nearly all over the
country but how does it affect the institutions within that state. When states are unable to provide
aid to school districts due to budget cuts in our economy it in turn takes away needed courses that
educate students that can be an economic contributor later in life, Carter (2011). The United States
Census Bureau (2013) conducted a statistical analysis which analyzed the debt for each states
school system finances, and the analysis showed the annual debt for the state of Alabama school
system was $5 million dollars by the end of the fiscal school year. This will continue to increase
with budget cuts increasing every year for education across the United States and will be

The Cost Of Capital Is Calculated For Midland On A Firm...
Executive Summary The cost of capital is calculated for Midland on a firm wide and divisional

Why Girls Are Dumb
Why Girls Are Dumb Girls are dumb for a million reasons. What causes girls to become selfish,
fake, annoying bitches? Well, the world may never know. Why are girls so different from boys?
They are not that different are They? Girls are dumb because instead of confronting people to
their face, girls hide behind anything they can. Girls are also dumb because they choose to see
the bad in everyone instead of the good and they also have a habit of being afraid to admit when
we are wrong. They make bullies out of themselves, sometimes not knowing it. Girls always tend to
hide behind anything they can so they do not have to actually go and talk about their problems to
another girlface to face. Talking to girls face to face is a whole lot better than messaging them via
text, email, snapchat, facebook messenger, or even calling them. Nothing is the same as face to
face because when you are with a person face to face you can see their reaction, their facial
expressions, and tears. Straying away from the main point, but, why are girls so scared of those
reactions? That is what makes us human. Having emotions is what makes us who we are. Who
would we be without emotions? We would not be human. God created us with emotions with
emotions for a reason. Back on track, girls that do not confront people face to face are scared and
insecure of them own selves, so they try to make others insecure about themselves by talking crap
about other people but being too scared to talk to them face to face. Sometimes, girls think they are
doing the right thing by confronting someone through via phone texting or calling, because
confronting them through phone is better than not confronting them at all, but in reality, it does
not help anything at all. Confronting them through phone is almost as bad as not confronting
anyone at all. Facetime is still not the same as face to face. Another reasons why girls are so
dumb is because they choose to see the bad in everyone instead of the good. Yes, people make bad
decisions sometimes, sometimes they do things they regret, and, again, it is what makes us human.
Nobody became who they are today without making any mistakes. Mistakes can mold people into a
better, smarter and wiser person if

World War 2 Movie Analysis
There is a movie made in 2002 called Windtalkers that was about the Navajo code talkers. This
was the first time a lot of people had ever heard of the bravery and sacrifice of the American
Indians during World War 2. Of course this is a Hollywood so liberties are taken for dramatic
purposes but it served its purpose of exposing the masses to the invaluable contribution to the war
effort. The government by this time had, had a long track record of horrible abuse to the American
Indians, but that did not stop them from enlisted and making the same sacrifices as everyone else.
Sadly the treatment of the American Indians would still be the same as far as the government was
concerned. The treatment from the government and other soldiers as well as the contributions to
the war effort became a turning point for both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
White America thought the war finished integrating the American Indian into normal America.
American Indians also got to see white America up close. They were both attracted and repelled
(Morgan). The thought of a better income, higher standard of living, and higher education were
very attractive to them, but they feared that lessening of tribal influence and the threat of forfeiting
the security of the reservation. Indians did not want equality with whites at the price of losing
group identification. It was a tremendously difficult adjustment; more than for white America,
which had known modem war and mobilization before. But in the process, Native Americans
became Indian Americans, not just American Indians (Morgan). In traditional American nature you
will only be considered American once you prove yourself to their standards, and do something for
them. Nonetheless the effects of World War 2 cannot be understated. These effects are still being
felt today and forever changed the American Indian Experience in

AMI Implementation Plan
William Azzoli from the AMI team provided a brief overview of the AMI initiative the company
is taking. The new AMI meters will be replacing all existing meters throughout Con Edison and
Orange Rockland. The benefit of AMI meters will provide better outage and network
management and will allow customers to better manage their energy usage. In order to
communicate with the meters, a wireless mesh network is to be established using access points
and relays from Silver Spring Network. Approximately 11,500 APs and relays will be installed
starting January 2017 with the rollout beginning in Staten Island. The APs will be installed 21ft
high and will be located in the primary and secondary zone of overhead poles. In order to meet
the adequate clearances to install the APs and relays B 187 and drawing 365506 needs to be
updated. AMI and EH S preformed calculations which demonstrated no employee distance or time
restrictions when working in proximity to the AP or relay. To further validate the mathematical
tests, AMI and EH S commissioned Daytona T. Brown an independent laboratory to validated the
RF strength calculations. Test results yielded that the RF emissions were well below the public
limits established by AICGH and the IEEE.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B 187 was updated to incorporate AMI equipment and it states that no working clearance or time
exposure limit is necessary for the equipment. Prakash Kothari from EH S further assured the

there was an EPRI study conducted to further demonstrate that the safety of the

Chesapeake Colonies Differences
The English Civil War created economic disputes and religious turmoil which forced a large
number of humans to acknowledge the New World as a source of protection from the conflict
within their home country. Currently, many of the early colonists fled to geographical areas that
were constructed by a culture of the first colonists. Due to extended motivations for voyaging the
New World, isolating individual reasons for the two contrasting Chesapeake and New English
cultures was very challenging. The settled land shaped the development of the contrasting cultures
because of the different environments encountered by the colonists. Nonetheless, while the New
Englandand Chesapeake colonies established identical governments, the economies and cultures
evolved to fit their religion.
Both settlements legislatures were isolated to a specific governor and assembly of the people. ...

An example would be the Puritan and Irish ideas of life in New England connected within a single
civilization. Also, the Anglicans, Quakers and aristocrats of the Chesapeake merged their routines
together. Evidently, both colonies depict similarities and differences which advise religion as the
main reason behind the diversity.
The main difference was the religion of both areas. The British colonies in New England were
very religious based, and claimed to believe in God more than other colonists. Religion was
family based and with extreme devotion. In contrast, religion was less relentless in the
Chesapeake. The religious emphasis was small, and numerous people did not participate within
the Church. Both colonies practiced religion at their own pace and based it upon their society at
their own rate. The New England colonies had developed into a religion and family based society
comprised of mostly middle class

PROSTITUTION: VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AGAINST WOMEN Prostitution is
considered as a control of taking part in sexual exercises with somebody for cash. In Canada, it is
lawful to offer sexual administrations yet it is considered as a wrongdoing to purchase sexual
administrations from others. When we talk about prostitution it is important to consider that which
type of women is engaging in sexual activities for money. It is considered that the more than half
of the women doing sex work is due to the sexual abuse during their childhood. Some of them are

role of sex industry in creating a global sex market in the bodies of women and children. Instead we
hear much about making prostitution in to a better job for women through regulation and
legalizing, through unions of so called sex workers and campaigns which provide condoms to
women in prostitution but cannot provide them with to prostitution. We hear much about how to
keep women in prostitution but very little about how to help women get out from this. So women s
and children s need campaigns to increase the awareness to stop prostitution and make better

what the sex business is advancing in light of the fact that it will give the business greater security
and lawful dependability if these qualifications can be used to authorize prostitution, pimping and
whorehouses. Ladies who bring charges against pimps and culprits will bear the weight of
demonstrating that they were constrained. How will underestimated ladies ever have the capacity
to demonstrate intimidation?

Rotavirus Vaccination
This journal article reports about rotavirus vaccination in terms of kinds of it and its performances.
There are many types of childhood disease. One of them is rotavirus. The reason why children
suffer from this disease rather than adults is that they have weaker immune systems. Rotavirus is
transmitted through various ways such as unclean hands or impure water. Before rotavirus
vaccination, many infants used to die from this. However, this is one of the most common causes
of preventable childhood disease these days so it is important to know this vaccine.
Rotavirus vaccination did not prevent its virus perfectly at first though it is easy to protect from it
now. The vaccine can be classified in two groups according to basis of its development,

  • 2. Speech On Molecular Gastronomy I What is molecular gastronomy? A Definition Ice sphere cocktails, grenadine sirop caviar and disappearing transparent raviolis are all examples of Molecular gastronomy. This discipline is a mixture of physics and chemistry and is used to transform the taste and the texture of food. We commonly use the term Molecular Gastronomy in order to describe a new style of cuisine. Chefs now use tools from the science laboratory, and unusual ingredients from the food industry to expend their culinary possibilities. Officially, it is the scientific discipline that explains the chemical and physical transformations and mechanisms that occur while cooking. It also studies the social, artistic and technical side of gastronomy. B History In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (Hammurabi). Now in this day and age most might say this is excessive, but when it comes to public shaming, far too many are not quite as hesitant. In Cole Stryker s excerpt The Problem with Public Shaming, he makes it quite clear that there are better ways to punish an individual rather than ruining their lives by publicly humiliating them. Cole states public shaming is a thing of the past and should find new ways to treat criminals, that to dox (digging up of a target s personal information) an individual is harmful to both parties, and stating that public shaming is counterproductive. Hollywood the movie industry has made and is going to make countless moves on people getting their revenge. This human reaction not only distances oneself from the right to logic, but leaves no room for the chance of forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is resentment towards a certain person or a multitude of people. Cole gives many examples of the counterproductive ways that deal with public shaming. For example, when someone is effected by a crime and they look for help from local police forces, but are rejected from such task force. This rejection now casts an ideology that all police officers do not care, in return leaving a disdainful image of all police officers. Now with the case Black Lives Matter, this organization preaches to the masses that police officers are patrolling the streets look for young black men to kill. This movement stemmed from no justice being brought forward to the accused criminal. There has been multiple incidents like the one previously stated which is why such a hatred has been casted upon all police forces in America. Rather than jailing the person responsible, a mere slap on the wrist is all that happens. Police officers all over America are scared to do their job, living in the shadows trying to keep themselves on the right side of the ledger. • 4. Beowulf Values Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, is an oral story about a Norse hero. Beowulf is a pagan story with Christian influences. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and Sweden. The basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are values that are displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include being prudent (19), and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a person s status in a kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary Norse traditions are funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of respect and peace. In several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these cases, a glorious hero saves the day. Beowulfis this hero. Beowulf arrives in Heorot hall to maintain order, in order to gain glory, and save the Danes. However, these heroes do not last forever. Beowulf s downfall occurs because he did not listen to Hrothgar s advice, he was a good king; but his followers did not come to his aid, and his actions, attitudes and beliefs. Hrothgar s advice is composed of two different aspects: one being mindful of the fragility of live, and the second being mindful of the dangers in power. No life is immune to danger; Hrothgar s experience proves this. Hrothgar states I ruled the Ring Danes country for fifty years, defending them in wartime (1769 1770) until Grendel ... Linda De Pauw s contribution of Land of the Unfree: Legal Limitations on Liberty in Revolutionary America , written in a gender method discusses the slavery issue that was carefully overlooked during the time that the Declaration of Independence was composed by Thomas Jefferson. De Pauw discusses the irony of the colonists as they fought for their independence at the same time maintaining the enslavement of the majority of the colonies population. Her article dared to voice the unspoken notion that previous historians carefully avoided the issues of slavery. During this time there was enslavements of both blacks and whites, however, there was different legal restrictions for each classification of color. De Pauw, discusses the majority and minority statistics, reflecting the gender history of the population of the thirteen colonies during this time. Statistics shows the majority of the population were indeed the less fortunate enslaved blacks, indentured white males and all females. Ironically the minority numbers were the actual white males that pursued the liberty of this nation. De Pauw proceeds to analyze the psychological legal ramifications of the majority of the population. She discusses the legal status, traditions and practices that failed to provide the same liberties to all whether black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Part of the problem is that a large majority of nursing home residents are very old. Some can hardly speak while others may be suffering from dementia or maybe just too afraid to speak up. In many cases, nursing home abuse and neglect may not even be evident in any physical form. We all know that emotional abuse often has no physical scars but can leave massive scars on the inside. There may be situations where the behavior of the nursing home resident changes but even this can be overlooked by family and friends as they may dismiss such change to old age or diseases like dementia or Alzheimer s. For families of nursing home residents in Middleburg, Florida, it is important to be aware of some warning signs that your loved one may be a victim of nursing home abuse or neglect. • 7. 2. 1 Describe The Theory Of How Individuals Interact In... 2.1 Explain theories of how individuals interact in groups in relation to the types of teams that work in health and social care. The most famous theory of group working is Tuckman s (1965) model. Tuckman (1965) divided the team s interaction into four different phases; forming, storming, norming and performing. The first step, forming, is where all members are learning about the opportunities and challenges facing the team. Whereas the second step storming, is where different ideas to tackle problems or issues are developed. The third step, norming, is where the team members fall into agreement over the solutions for their team. In this step, the team members are able to talk openly about their opinions and have the ability to adjust their behaviour to avoid conflict. The final step, performing, is where the team fully understands, co operates and supports one another, thereby working as a single unit rather than individuals. Teams that have reached this step display high levels of motivation, knowledge, competence and autonomy (Armstrong, 2006). Dr Meredith Belbinstated that for a team to be effective, it has to have the following nine characteristics: resource investigator, team worker, coordinator, plant, monitor evaluator, specialist, shaper, implementer, completer finisher. This does not mean that every team requires nine people. Most people will have two or three Team Roles that they are most comfortable with. There are no good or bad Team Roles. Each Team Role has ... Advantages Of Sacrificial Anode Engineering Chemistry (CHY1001) Digital Assignment 1 Ans1. a) Sacrificial anodic protection: Sacrificial anodes are exceptionally active metals used to prevent less active metal surfaces from eroding. They are constructed from a metal alloy having a higher negative electrode potential than the metal surface it will be used to safeguard. The sacrificial anode will get depleted in place of the metal it is protecting. This is why it is referred to as sacrificial anode. The materials used for making a sacrificial anode are either comparatively pure active metals such as Zinc and Magnesium, or alloys of Magnesium or Aluminium precisely developed to be used as a sacrificial anode. They are used to protect water heaters, pipelines, underground tanks, hulls of ships, etc. (Sacrificial anode used for cathodic protection.) b) Corrosion inhibitors: A corrosion inhibitor is a chemical compound which when added to a gas or liquid, reduces the rate of corrosion of a material (which is mostly a metal or an ... The first white inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for many reasons, such as religion and opportunity. As the country grew and became more prosperous, it became more enticing to foreigners looking for opportunity. This continued into the 20th century and finally during the 1920 s, the United States began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country, mostly for cultural and economic reasons. Even the immigrants that were allowed in during the 20 s faced many hardships such as religious persecution, racism, and xenia phobia. One of the major groups of immigrants during that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The old stock Americans weren t used to the immigrants and for this reason they thought less of them and oppressed them. The Italians and other immigrants were blamed for many of the nations problems. For example, the government led raids on immigrants houses because they feared the immigrants were communists. This was evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two Italian immigrants were convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial evidence. They were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs also brought the immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and most of the Italians were catholic. The immigrants and Italians also helped to bring on prohibition. The Americans didn t approve of their drinking habits; therefore the prohibition amendment was made for this and other reasons. Job competition was also a major reason for the racist feelings of the Americans. Native white workers saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt they should have. A good example of this competition was birds of passage. These were Italian workers who came to work in the U.S. but later returned to Italy with the money they earned in the U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to the United States, but 2.1 million left to return to Italy during the same ... Upon learning of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard experiences an epiphany about her future without a husband. Her life, due to heart problems, suddenly ends after she unexpectedly finds out her husband is actually alive. Mrs. Mallard s actions cause the reader to cogitate a hidden meaning weaved into Kate s short story. Mallard s unexpected bout of joy also supports the theme; if she was not feeling confined, her feelings of grief would not have been replaced by excessive joy. Time moves along, and she continues to whisper free! Body and soul free! (Chopin 2). It is further understood that the character was released from a constricted marriage because the words willingly slip roll off her tongue. The last example occurs during and after Mrs. Mallard watches the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life (Chopin 1). This shows that the character s image of the world is already changed since she was informed of her husband s death. In the twelfth paragraph, Chopin uses her character s new perspective of the world to exemplify the confinement women felt. The character understood she had no one to live for during those coming years; she would live for herself (Chopin 2). Mrs. Mallard s thoughts revolve around her limitations during marriage. She soon realizes that she would have no powerful will bending hers (Chopin 2). Mrs. Mallard was likely controlled her entire marriage; and now she is released from her husband s dominance. Before opening the door for her sister, she was thinking about all sorts of days that would be her own (Chopin 2). The character looked forward to her new life ahead of her because of the new freedom she has gained; she thought about the future that involved her freedom from marriage. Then on a spontaneous occurrence, racial exclusion and divide began to change as the 1970 s hit. Hip hop emerged on the East Coast in the Bronx in the early 1970 s and gained popularity as conflict increased between gangs. From the novella Can t Stop Won t Stop, Jeff Chang describes that gangs would compete through lyrics and song, The song climaxed with a promise: We are gonna take you higher with Ghetto Brother Power! (Chang, 106). This was vital to the establishment of hip hop culture as this conflict between gangs influenced a yearning for competition, thus allowing for hip hop to be explored and practiced. While these gangs may have been a battleground for turf wars and anarchy, hip hop was bringing peace and unity amongst the Bronx population. John Surico, a writer for Vice News, interviews the director (Shane Nicholson) of Rubble Kings (gang violence and birth of hip hop culture) and asks the director why he wanted to tell the story about gangs in the late 1900 s. Needing to add to his income he took a position at the Center Academy instructing sculpture and painting and maintained this position from 1929 to 1952. As Rothko advanced in his painting style he began to metamorphose from using imagery and symbolism to using colour fields. Typically his paintings feature large rectangular expanses of colour arranged parallel to each other, usually in a vertical arrangement. The edges of these shapes are softly uneven, giving them a hazy, pulsating quality, and they seem to gently hover or float over the canvas. The paintings are often very large and the effect they produce is generally one of calmness and contemplation, but in spite of their tranquility, they cost Rothko enormous emotional effort: I m not an abstract artist...I m not interested in the relationship of colour or form or anything else. Before we tackle that question lets define safety culture. There are many definitions of safety culture but for the purpose of this discussion we will define safety culture as a Collective values and norms an organization has regarding safety , Terry Miller, National Safety Council. Near miss reporting is categorized as an unplanned event not resulting in an undesirable consequence, however; having the potential to do so. Recognizing and reporting near miss incidents can have a positive impact on organizational safety performance. Origin story and meaning The Samoans are an ethnic group that reside in Oceania, on the islands of Samoa, in an area of Polynesia. Samoa has been occupied by these indigenous people for about 3000 years, when they came from the west, occupying the islands of Fiji and Tonga around the same time (Barnes and Hunt 2005, 243). They carry many traditions with their culture, however, I will be discussing their tradition of tattooing. Tattooing is the process of inserting ink pigment into someone s skin to create a permanent design on them. For Samoans, tattoos are much more significant than just a pretty piece of artwork, they are, according to Ryman (2004), a right of passage. I will be reviewing the importance of cultural tattoos, the process of being tattooed, and the varying origin stories of how tattooing first came to Samoa. Samoan tattooing matters because it is a cultural tradition that has been practiced in Samoa for over 3000 years (Ellis 2006, 698). Demographics: Samoa is divided into two, separate nations, The Independent State of Samoa (referred to as Samoa) and Territory of American Samoa(referred to as American Samoa). Eric Johnson Let Parents Be Parents Summary In Eric Johnson s article Let Parents Be Parents, published by the Chronicle of Higher Education February 5, 2017, he gives an overarching theme of simplifying the mechanics of college and argues that less parental instruction is needed on campuses today. Johnson appeals to college boards, educators, professors, and parents alike to help remake policy on campus. Johnson s purpose in writing this article comes from the rise in complexity that college life has become. He emphasizes that parents should be involved in their son s/daughter s college life, but suggests ways to help eliminate academic bureaucracy, which would streamline parental involvement. Johnson claims that parents are busy enough without having to traverse the difficulties of introductory college processes with their sons/daughters and gives arguments to support these ideas. Although there are flaws in his writing, over all Johnson writes convincingly, using plain speech with well thought out word choice and rhetorical strategies which give him credibility in the eyes of the reader about his ideas and arguments. Johnson does an excellent job of starting off his argumentby appealing to the readers emotions. He provides a glimpse into his first impressions of college. Interrelationships in Joe Wright s Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Atonement (2007) Joe Wright (London, 1972 ) is an internationally acclaimed English film director. He is particularly famous for the cinematic adaptations of two major works within English Literature; that is, Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice (1813) and Ian McEwan s Atonement (2001). In the following essay, I shall discuss the interrelationships that can be found between the two, with a special focus on the central motifs, the audio visuals, the cast and crew and lastly, the angle taken by Wright himself on his own cinematic production. Pride and Prejudice and Atonement s central motifs are to some extent alike. In Pride and Prejudice, the couple has to hurdle both Darcy s pride and Elizabeth s derisive prejudice towards him so that they fulfil their love. In Atonement, love is also an important theme, yet Cecilia and Robbie s relationship is portrayed quite differently. Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in pursuit of cute beauty, I posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to conclusion. After all, a social trend highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I question if the Yaeba fascination points out to an underlying female subordination trend, where women are simply keen to please men. It has been suggested in various accounts that Japanese men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus, 2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority of men as protectors and evokes a desire for men to protect women. This would fall into the category of management of utilization, if hospitals and managed careorganizations can control treatment utilization, they can control premium costs for both themselves and their customers (Rodwin 1996). When the term preference is used, what it means in this sense is that there is more than one way to cure the patient. This means that the patient has a choice to make between the specific treatments. The patient s preference to certain treatments defines how utilization management works. Patients in the same region may prefer a single treatment to another or patients of a specific age demographic may opt out of surgery when a younger crowd may see it as the only option (Kongstvedt, 2007). The third and final category of unwarranted care is supply. The term does not refer to supplies as in the usage of equipment or tools needed to perform a job. The word supply is referring to the treatment that is most available is the most often used in regards to a patient s care. For instance, in a state that the majority of the population is elderly patients, who use Medicare, will have higher per capita spending for Medicare patient s than the states that do not have a high population of elderly residence using Medicare services (Rodwin 1996). Different American educational policies and practices can be determined by multiple factors such as demographic considerations, budget concerns, economic impact and cultural values Shapiro (2013). American higher education is described by Engell and Dangerfield (2005) as The fastest expanding and often strongest motivation in American higher education is now money (as quoted in Bean, 2007, page 240). For instance, budget cuts have been administered nearly all over the country but how does it affect the institutions within that state. When states are unable to provide aid to school districts due to budget cuts in our economy it in turn takes away needed courses that educate students that can be an economic contributor later in life, Carter (2011). The United States Census Bureau (2013) conducted a statistical analysis which analyzed the debt for each states school system finances, and the analysis showed the annual debt for the state of Alabama school system was $5 million dollars by the end of the fiscal school year. • 43. Why Girls Are Dumb Why Girls Are Dumb Girls are dumb for a million reasons. What causes girls to become selfish, fake, annoying bitches? Well, the world may never know. Why are girls so different from boys? They are not that different are They? Girls are dumb because instead of confronting people to their face, girls hide behind anything they can. Girls are also dumb because they choose to see the bad in everyone instead of the good and they also have a habit of being afraid to admit when we are wrong. They make bullies out of themselves, sometimes not knowing it. Girls always tend to hide behind anything they can so they do not have to actually go and talk about their problems to another girlface to face. Talking to girls face to face is a whole lot better than messaging them via text, email, snapchat, facebook messenger, or even calling them. Nothing is the same as face to face because when you are with a person face to face you can see their reaction, their facial expressions, and tears. Straying away from the main point, but, why are girls so scared of those reactions? That is what makes us human. Having emotions is what makes us who we are. Who would we be without emotions? We would not be human. God created us with emotions with emotions for a reason. Back on track, girls that do not confront people face to face are scared and insecure of them own selves, so they try to make others insecure about themselves by talking crap about other people but being too scared to talk to them face to face. Sometimes, girls think they are doing the right thing by confronting someone through via phone texting or calling, because confronting them through phone is better than not confronting them at all, but in reality, it does not help anything at all. Confronting them through phone is almost as bad as not confronting anyone at all. Facetime is still not the same as face to face. Another reasons why girls are so dumb is because they choose to see the bad in everyone instead of the good. Yes, people make bad decisions sometimes, sometimes they do things they regret, and, again, it is what makes us human. Nobody became who they are today without making any mistakes. Mistakes can mold people into a better, smarter and wiser person if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the first time a lot of people had ever heard of the bravery and sacrifice of the American Indians during World War 2. Of course this is a Hollywood so liberties are taken for dramatic purposes but it served its purpose of exposing the masses to the invaluable contribution to the war effort. The government by this time had, had a long track record of horrible abuse to the American Indians, but that did not stop them from enlisted and making the same sacrifices as everyone else. Sadly the treatment of the American Indians would still be the same as far as the government was concerned. White America thought the war finished integrating the American Indian into normal America. American Indians also got to see white America up close. They were both attracted and repelled (Morgan). The thought of a better income, higher standard of living, and higher education were very attractive to them, but they feared that lessening of tribal influence and the threat of forfeiting the security of the reservation. Indians did not want equality with whites at the price of losing group identification. It was a tremendously difficult adjustment; more than for white America, which had known modem war and mobilization before. But in the process, Native Americans became Indian Americans, not just American Indians (Morgan). The new AMI meters will be replacing all existing meters throughout Con Edison and Orange Rockland. The benefit of AMI meters will provide better outage and network management and will allow customers to better manage their energy usage. In order to communicate with the meters, a wireless mesh network is to be established using access points and relays from Silver Spring Network. Approximately 11,500 APs and relays will be installed starting January 2017 with the rollout beginning in Staten Island. The APs will be installed 21ft high and will be located in the primary and secondary zone of overhead poles. In order to meet the adequate clearances to install the APs and relays B 187 and drawing 365506 needs to be updated. AMI and EH S preformed calculations which demonstrated no employee distance or time restrictions when working in proximity to the AP or relay. Currently, many of the early colonists fled to geographical areas that were constructed by a culture of the first colonists. Due to extended motivations for voyaging the New World, isolating individual reasons for the two contrasting Chesapeake and New English cultures was very challenging.
