Benefits Of Being Vegetarianism
Why should humans be vegetarian?
More and more, some good quality meat is becoming very expensive. Since a can of chickpeas is less
expensive and easier to cook, a lot of Quebec College students decide to take the meat out of their
diet. Everyone should do like those people and be vegetarian for the benefits that it as for society and
the environment. This diet is good for the human health, it helps save the planet and it helps save the
animals.
First, there are many health benefits that comes with being vegetarian. In the Harvard Health
Publishing, the searchers describe the way that vegetarianism can help your body. Compared with
meat eaters, vegetarians tend to consume less saturated fat and cholesterol and more vitamins C and E,
dietary fiber, folic acid, potassium, magnesium, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals), such as
carotenoids and flavonoids. As a result, they re likely to have lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol,
lower blood pressure, and lower body mass index (BMI), all of which are associated with longevity
and a reduced risk for many chronic diseases. The major diseases that vegetarianism can prevent are
heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes. In fact, vegetarians are 25% less likely to die from a heart
disease than meat eaters. This means that a lot of people could be saved with this diet. Personally, if I
could do anything to live longer and healthier, I would do it. Nowadays, we eat a lot of junk food, and
more and more people are dying because

Document Analysis Of The Articles Of Capitulation

History 1700
Document Analysis
Articles of Capitulation The Articles Of Capitulation was written on July 3rd, 1754 at 8pm, in an area
in present day Western Pennsylvania. This area was known at the time as the Ohio Valley and was an
area that was in dispute by the French and English. French Canadian military Captain, Louis Coulon
de Villers, composed the Articles Of Capitulation. This document was written in the aftermath of a
short one day battle, in which Coulon had surrounded Washington s Fort Necessity, and subsequently
asked for the surrender of the Virginian troops led by George Washington. Although Washington
agreed to the terms of this peaceful surrender, the document was written in French and ... Show more

Jacob Van Braam and Robert Stobo, both Captains shall be delivered to us as hostages until the arrival
our French and Canadians, the two officers who promise us our French in two months and a half at the
latest. While Robert Stobo, a captain in the Virginia militia was a captive in Fort Duquesne, he drew a
scale map of the Fort and wrote a letter on the back a letter saying, When we engaged to serve the
country, then he said, it was expected we were to do it with our lives. Let them not be disappointed.
Consider the good of the expedition without the least regard to us. For my part, I would die ten
thousand deaths to have the pleasure of possessing this fort but one day, they are so vain of their
success at [Fort Necessity], tis worse than death to hear them. (Stobo) The letter eventually made it to
the English forces. He was later convicted of spying after this paper fell into French hands and later
the French cited it as evidence of British aggression towards them in the Ohio Valley. He sentenced to
a death in Quebec, but then escaped and re joined the English forces. (Alberts)

Fordham University Application Essay Sample
From a young age, my interest in the world around me was apparent in my love for history. I could
never get bored of learning about the formation of the United States government or either of the World
Wars. Unlike most children, my love for history was nourished each summer with travels to countries
like Germany and Italy. I still remember running around at eleven years old with an informational
headset in the Coliseum in Rome acting as a guide to my family. As an American with German and
Italian roots, Europe has always held a special place in my heart. It was this love of history that led me
to my interest in politics. In my junior year of high school I attended my first Model United Nations

An Overview Of United Technologies s Code Of Ethics Of...
What kind of privacy do Engineers and Scientists have in the workplace? One might be surprised, that
the basic rights we take for granted are not protected in the workplace. Employers have a legitimate
interest in monitoring their employees to assure security, efficiency and productivity, however,
sometimes employee monitoring goes well beyond legitimate concerns and becomes simply an
invasion of privacy. The debate of employee monitoring continues on; whether it is legal, moral, or
ethical. Corporations believe it is necessary to maintain security, limit their liability and to discourage
dishonest activity, while employees experience a negative effect of emotional and physical stress, and
lack of trust and motivation.
Two immediate questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two obvious moral issues exist: The ethics of employee monitoring and the ethics of certain employee
behavior. Employers In its broadest sense, taking a utilitarian approach in addressing moral problems
requires us to focus on the idea of bringing about the greatest good for the greatest number (Harris
38). For employees legal liability and moral responsibility is usually associated with negligently
causing harm. Unlike recklessness, where an element of deliberateness or intent is involved (such as a
decision to drive fast), in negligent behavior the person may simply overlook something or not even
be aware of the factors that could cause harm. Furthermore, there may not be any direct causal
component. The person is responsible because she has failed to exercise due care, which is the care
that would be expected of a reasonable person in the circumstances. In law, a successful charge of
negligence must meet four

Behind The Great Emancipator Analysis
Behind the great emancipator s created public persona lies the real Abraham Lincoln, a man who not
only used his political standing on slavery to get into presidency by consistently changing his opinion
on them, but actually had an ulterior motive to free the slaves with a questionable document, the
emancipation proclamation. While some historians like Eric Foner in The Fiery Trial: Abraham
Lincoln and American Slavery and Richard Striner s Father Abraham: Lincoln s Relentless Struggle
To End Slavery would agree that this change can be described as growth, others like James Oakes
essay Freedom National: The Destruction of Slavery in the United States, 1861 1865 would say that it
was all part of his initial plan to free the slaves. James M. McPherson would complement Lincoln on
his character, but other more daring historians would challenge the idea that Lincoln had actually freed
the slaves with the emancipation proclamation, something Henry Louis Gates s Lincoln on Race ...

As Lerone Bennett Jr. quotes in his book, when the emancipation is taken at face value, the legal
shackles from four million black slaves are removed but not the physical shackles that tie them to their
owners. It is this fact that makes the efficiency of the Emancipation Proclamation questionable. In
McPherson s review of Cox s book, he mentions Vincent Harding who makes the point that Lincoln
did not free the slaves, they freed themselves by escaping from their master to Union lines. Gates,
Bennett and Lincoln himself also makes the observation that only 200,000 slaves were actually freed
because of the Emancipation Proclamation. It was actually the thirteenth amendment that had actually
freed the slaves on January 1st,

(0.5 0.9 10_3 mm2/s) for malignant lesion in comparison with that of benign lesions (1.7 2.7 10_3

Out of 10 patients with malignant lesion of our study 6 patients showed restricted diffusion and out of
21 patients with benign breast lesions 19 patients showed non restricted diffusion.
In our study we found significant difference between
ADC values of malignant and benign breast lesions, assuming a threshold of 1.2 10_3 mm2/s.
Similarly an 2014 by Nogeria et al. (23) study, proved DWI with complementary ADC values to be
useful for the detection and characterization of breast lesion where mean ADCs of 1.99 ± 0.27 10_3
mm2/s,
1.08± 0.25 10_3 mm2/s, and 1.74± 0.35 10_3 mm2/s, were obtained for normal tissue, malignant, and
benign lesion respectively. Our study reported a raised specificity from 81% to 90.5% and a slightly
improved PPV from 75% to 77.8% after combining DWI to DCE MRI without any improvement in
sensitivity (53.8%). NPV was 76% and accuracy was 76.5%.
These results agreed with Kul et al. (19) who reported an improved specificity (86.5%), sensitivity
(91.5%), PPV
(89.6%), NPV (88.9%) and accuracy (89.3%). An older study by Sonmez (24) shared nearly the same

Intelligence Between Intelligence And Psychometric Tests
Intelligence is one of the most heritable traits thus, people differ in intelligence ranges. Heritability
estimates range from 25% to 40% in early childhood to 80% in adulthood. These ranges may be in
specific domains but those who do well in one domain often do well in others, leading towards general
intelligence. In order to measure and evaluate differences in intelligence, psychometric tests are used
to cover cognitive domains. These cognitive domains are reasoning, processing speeds, executive
function, memory, and spatial ability. A definition of intelligence that is prominently used by
researchers is: Intelligence is a very general capability that, among other things, involves the ability to
reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn
from experience. It is not merely book learning, a narrow academic skill, or test‑taking smarts. Rather,
it reflects a broader and deeper capability for comprehending our surroundings catching on , making
sense of things, or figuring out what to do. Intelligence, so defined, can be measured, and intelligence
tests measure it well. Investigation of the presence of genetic influences on general intelligence dates
back to the nineteenth century, when Francis Galton published two papers concluding that mental
abilities were transmitted by heredity from one generation to another15. Despite an intermittently
hostile political reception, many studies since then based principally on

Analysis Of Genesis, And Andromache
In the contexts of their own time periods, both Sarah, in Genesis, and Andromache, in the Iliad, have
similar roles in that they are both confined to the duties within the household. Despite these societal
constrictions, both women find ways to exert some power and influence within their designated roles
in society, but the degree of power they have varies. Sarah holds more power because God will bless
her and will make her a part of his plan for Abraham, so she can manipulate events in the context of
this plan, whereas Andromache is restricted by her husband s moira because the society values the
lives and honor of men to determine the status for women (Gen. 17.16). Both women are also able to

6.451 452). Her life is centered around Hector because without him there will be nothing left...only
pain (Il. 6.434 435). Without him she has no meaning to her life, as well as no one to take care of her
because males are the heads of household in Athenian society. Her desire to keep him alive causes her
to display power and try to convince him to change his fate. Although in the end she is powerless to
change her husband s destiny because not even the God s can change a person s fate the very act of her
trying to appeal to him to change his beliefs demonstrates the tremendous amount of power and value
that her opinion can hold when it comes to events centered around her husband s life. If she did not
have this power and her opinion was not valued at all, she would have stayed silent and let Hector s
actions do the talking. With her voicing her opinion, it conveys how although women are subordinate
to men, they can still have an impact on them, even though they might not be able to change their fate.
While Sarah has power like Andromache, it manifests in a different form. Andromache only has
limited powers to try to persuade her husband, while Sarah holds the power to influence the plot line
and to make her husband s covenant with god come to fruition. Initially,

Case Study Sick Leave
Sick Leave In case study 8 Sick Leave, and the cross culture communication is a dilemma because of
the differences in work ethics between an employee from the United States working in Japan, and
what is expected by the supervisor in Japan. The difference is the fact that Kelly, the Canadian
employee, is highly educated in the field of management, and wants to follow employment rules and
regulations to the best of her ability, within both her norm as well as what is written in her current
employment.. On the other hand, the Supervisor in Japan, Mr. Higashi, he wishes to hold to the loyalty

rules and regulations. With this scenario the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higashi and Kelly. With Mr. Higashi the intangible factor would be his work and cultural ethics when
it comes to work. The Japanese are hardworking and very loyal as they tend to stay with one employer
for long time and choose not to use their earned vacation time no matter what employment regulations
state. Additionally, when a Japanese employee is sick, they use paid time off rather than sick leave,
and this has become the norm broadly across the culture.
With Kelly, the tangible factor is the fact that she became ill and appropriately notified her supervisor,
then expected and wanted to use sick time, as employee regulations clearly outline. This falls within
her norm as she learned in the U.S./Canadian as she received her management degree from the
Canadian University.
When dealing with tangible or intangible factors such as in this scenario, while both are important the
tangible factors are more important because such as Kelly working through the JET program, written
regulations and employment laws are very important to follow. If they are not, the program may be
doomed to fail over time because is regulations are not followed, there could be a strong decline of

Neil Shubin Your Inner Fish Summary
The book Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin is a journey into 3.5 billion year history of the human body.
The book is an entertaining and useful novel that demonstrates the evolution of some of our major
structures through time. By analyzing fossils and DNA, the author shows us that our hands truly
resemble fish fins, our head is organized like that of a long extinct jawless fish, and that major parts of
our genome look and function like those of worms and bacteria. The book takes us on a remarkable
expedition in which it will show us our inner fish, reptile and monkey. The author of Your Inner Fish,
Neil Shubin, discovered a missing link , a fossil he called Tiktaalik. Tiktaalik shows features that
connect the evolutionary gap between fishes and land living animals. Shubin demonstrates in the first
four chapters how different branches of science prove that many organs within numerous creatures,
ancient or living, are deeply related. For the following chapters he discusses the resemblances between
the designs of bodies, skulls, hands, eyes and ears belonging to most of the beings of the animal
kingdom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oral Piercings And Tattoos Have Become A Form Of Self...
Oral piercings are any piercings of the tongue, lips, or cheek. In recent years, oral piercings and tattoos
have become a form of self expression. Oral piercings and tattoos may look cool, but they can be
dangerous to your health. Many people are not aware of the potential side effects of oral piercings.
Some of these include infection, prolonged bleeding, pain and swelling, chipped or cracked teeth,
injury to the gums, interference with normal oral function, blood borne diseases, and endocarditis.
These side effects occur because the mouth contains millions of bacteria, which makes it easy for
infection and swelling to occur with mouth piercings. If one were to pierce their tongue, lips, cheek or

Oral piercings also cause dental appointment difficulties. The jewelry can get in the way of dental care
by blocking x rays. If one were to experience any of these side effects caused by an oral piercing, the
best thing for them to do is contact their dentist or physician immediately. Following that, as with oral
piercings, tattoos have also become popular in today s society and are viewed as a form of self
expression. Although tattoos are very creative and beautiful, they also pose many risks. One of these
risks can be an allergic reaction. Tattoo ink contains several ingredients and chemicals that a person
may be allergic to. An allergy to any of the substances included in the ink can cause an allergic
reaction once the ink gets into the skin. A tattoo allergy can take a number of different forms, one of
these forms is known as an Acute Inflammatory allergic reaction. This means the skin becomes red,
slightly swollen, and irritated at the site of the tattoo. Many people who get tattoos can experience this
form of reaction. This form is generally not serious and subsides within about two to three weeks.
Another form of allergic reaction is Photosensitivity. This means tattoos that are exposed to the sun
may result in an allergic reaction, particularly those that contain Cadmium Sulfide which can cause an
allergic reaction to the sun. Granulomas are small bumps that can also appear as a result of an allergic
reaction as well. These bumps

Five Characteristics Of A Civilization
What is a Civilization; Final Essay Civilization. What exactly is a civilization? Well, I know one thing
that we can agree on; A civilization is made up of five characteristics. Those five characteristics
include Complex Institutions, Advanced Cities, Record Keeping, Advanced Technology, and
Specialized workers. Due to those five characteristics, a civilization is a place of safety for a certain
religious or ethnic group of people. Not only is it usually safe because of those five characteristics, it
is also a secure living area with its own form of government. Why do so many of us believe this? Take
a look around. There are many places and were many places that, for the most part, stuck together
with a singular ethnicity or religion. Within the next few paragraphs, I am going to explicate how
certain civilizations, or how civilizations in general, are impacted in growth and development by
geography, how the human rights are defined in certain civilizations, and what the effects of human
interaction over time both positively and negatively affect a civilization. The geography within an area
impacts both the development and growth of a civilization positively and negatively. For example,
there is the Nile, in Egypt. When the Nile s floodwaters were just a few feet lower than normal, the
amount of fresh silt was greatly reduced. Thousands of people starved. (Africa packet, pg. 36) As the
text states, thousands of people died due to the surrounding geography. This;

Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence.
Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence
Abstract
Domestic terrorism is like cancer that eats away at the very values and beliefs of the American people.
Instead of combining efforts to peacefully and legally enact change, domestic terrorists take the law
and actions into their own hands. Groups such as eco terrorists use firebombing to make their point
that the Earth will be protected at all costs. That cost even meant human lives. Militia groups feel the
same way. Their goal is not about saving the Earth but rather to change the government. They see it as
too weak to handle the needs of the America people. These individuals use modified firearms,
explosives, and survival tactics. Law abiding citizens are not defenseless, the FBI and NCIRC work
together to help keep America safe.

Viral Respiratory Tract Infections ( Vrtis )
Introduction
Viral respiratory tract infections (VRTIs) are the most common illness in humans according to
Fendrick (2004). Acute respiratory infections kill approximately 4 million people per year.
Approximately half of these respiratory infections are due to viruses. Respiratory infections are one of
the top causes of mortality throughout the world. In many developing nations they are the major cause
of death in young children (WHO 2013). Often referred to as the common cold, the term upper
respiratory tract infection (URTI) is used to describe acute viral infections involving upper airway
structures including the nose, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea and bronchi. Viruses cause

Because URTIs are primarily viral use of antibiotics is not recommended.
According to Fendrick (2004) there are 110 million physician visits and 23.2 million physician
telephone calls in the United States yearly regarding VRTI and an estimated 6 million emergency
department visits for the cold occur annually. 69% of those with colds will self medicate with an over
the counter (OTC) product, they receive an estimated 41 million unnecessary prescriptions for
antibiotics at a cost of 1.1 billion dollars annually and spend 400 million on prescriptions for
symptomatic therapies annually. Additionally Americans spend almost 3 billion annually on OTC
medications for relief of symptoms related to URIs.
According to WHO (2010) up to 60% of people with viral upper respiratory tract infections receive
antibiotics inappropriately and the overuse of antibiotics increases antimicrobial resistance.
Antimicrobial resistance may extend illnesses and also increase the length of stay and number of
hospital admissions. The associated costs of this resistance is estimated to be approximately 4 to 5
billion dollars in the United States each year and approximately 9 billion euros per year in Europe.
Peterson (2007) states that one possible reason for continued high rates of antibiotic prescribing for
viral illness is patient expectation of receiving a prescription for antibiotics and fears that
complications will

Importance Of Ethics On Accounting And Business At Large
The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Zachary J. Blake ACCT 302 B01 LUO 06OCT14 The
Importance of Ethics in Accounting Abstract: Ethics are of the utmost concern within accounting and
business at large. Ethics are the standard by which we make moral choices and decisions in our lives.
In business and accounting, ethics give external users such as stakeholders, venture capitalists, and
others a measure by which they can weigh financial statements and information to see if they are
accurately portrayed. There are many different standards which govern the ethics of the accounting
profession such as United States GAAP and European IFRS. Legislation, such as the Sarbanes Oxley

of the accounting profession and are a subject of utmost importance within the field of business.
Ethics within the accounting profession ensure that financial information is presented truthfully.
Accounting ethics deals with specific questions on whether a given business practices is acceptable or
not. To this end, many standards, principles and agencies such as FASB, GAAP, IASB, IFRS, and the
Securities and Exchange Commission have been formed to codify and enforce these ethics. There has
also been an increasing desire within the general public for transparency within publically held firms
largely due to recent corporate scandals and the general power large corporations wield over society

Yellowtone Extremophies
Yellowstone National Park is a truly unique place. Few places in the world contain such amazing
biodiversity, and such a wide variety of species in such a condensed area. While many scientists have
been interested in studying the various plants and animals that inhabit Yellowstone, a group of
microorganisms that has been of special interest in the past few years are Yellowstone s extremophiles
the microorganisms that inhabit Yellowstone s thermal springs. Extremophiles have opened the eyes of
science to the possibilities of life in extreme conditions, helping us to understand how they adapt to
such seemingly inhospitable environments. They have also helped us to make several important
advances in the fields of medicine and biotechnology. Before the discovery of extremophiles in
Yellowstone, it was widely believed that life simply could not survive at extremely high temperatures,
as extremely high temperatures quickly denature proteins in cells. Although most organisms are
unable to survive in such extreme climates, the microorganisms that inhabit Yellowstone s thermal
vents are able to thrive in them. Before the discovery of many microorganisms in thermal areas, it was
believed that the hottest temperature at which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which more easily adapt to extreme temperatures than eukaryotes. They use salts such as potassium

to protect the proteins in their DNA from being degraded in high temperatures. One adaptation that
thermophilic archaea have that helps them to survive high temperatures is ether bonds in their cell

Comparing John Stuart Mill s The Subjection of Women and Florence Nightingale s Cassandra
For thousands of years, women have struggled under the domination of men. In a great many societies
around the world, men hold the power and women have to fight for their roles as equals in these
patriarchal societies. Florence Nightingale wrote about such a society in her piece, Cassandra, and
John Stuart Mill wrote further on the subject in his essay The Subjection of Women. These two pieces
explore the same basic idea, but there are differences as well. While they both recognize its presence,
Mill blames the subjection of women on custom, and Nightingale blames it on society. These appear
to be different arguments, but they may be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He feels that because women have been in this position for so many years, it would feel irregular to
deviate from it. The subjection of women to men being a universal custom, any departure from it quite
naturally appears unnatural (Mill 1157). As he continues, he reveals his thoughts on the matter to the
reader: this relic of the past is discordant with the future, and must necessarily disappear (Mill 1159).
Mill explores many aspects of the issue. He attempts to uncover the differences between the sexes to
provide maybe another solution to the problem, but to no avail, nothing final can be known (Mill
1162); nothing is as strongly stated as when he places the blame on custom. Later in his essay, while
exploring the systems of past societies, he comes to the same conclusion as earlier. Only this time, he
states that there has been some improvement in the system as time went by; however, equality has not
yet been reached. He believes that the small increase in power over time is enough to suggest that
equality is the solution: Through all...human history, the condition of women has been approaching
nearer to equality with men. This does not itself prove that the assimilation must go on to complete
equality; but it assuredly affords some presumption that such is the case (Mill 1160). This quote is yet
another contribution to the blame of custom. In the past, societies lacked equality

Trebuchet History
The first records of counterweight trebuchets began appearing in the 12th century. Proving to be an
excellent siege weapon, many militaries began using this. Though stone throwing artillery had been
employed by both the Greeks and Romans, they were usually powered by torsion or tension; the
trebuchet was the first war machine to use gravity and leverage to fire projectiles. They were used
widely during the Crusades, in which the European militaries, especially the French, used the
trebuchet to lay siege to Muslim cities in the hopes of capturing the holy land.
The word trebuchet comes from the Middle French verb trebuch which means tumble or fall over,
which was the intent of what the throwing arm did when it was released. The average mass of
projectiles used in medieval times were around 50 100 kilograms, with a range of about 300 metres.
They were extremely effective against castle walls; in fact, they were so effective that architects began
to design new castles to be able to withstand the raw power and force of the trebuchet. Sometimes,
corpses and carcasses were launched with trebuchets over castle walls as an early form of biological
warfare. For example, in 1422 during the Hussite Wars, Prince Korybut shot men and manure into
Karlstejn Castle and was apparently successful in spreading disease within the walls. ... Show more

Although Anita makes a great effort to ignore the victimization that she faces throughout the story, it is
impossible for the audience not to pick up on the words, symbols, and characters used to blatantly
victimize her. Right off the bat Anita is attempting to enjoy the peace and quiet of her backyard to
spend some time alone to just read and relax, however her thoughts are intruded by the reminder of
her friends calling her selfish. Anita recalls being called selfish by her friends for finding happiness in
her successes such as having ownership of her own house, a car, and a satisfying way of life in
general. This brings down the value of her success and leaves Anita a victim, because her friends are
just trying to take away from the caliber of her accomplishments, and try to give her a reason to feel
guilty about what s she s done for herself. Next, Anita s thoughts are overtaken by a memory of a boy
she had once been very fond of. That is, until he suggested that she drop her scholarship at university,
marry him, and put him through law school because, Being male, he had more right to an education
than she had. Now while this truly selfish boyfriend of Anita s didn t have the chance to turn her into a

PV ARRAY
An interconnected system of PV modules that function as a single electricity producing unit. In
smaller systems, an array can consist of a single module. The PV array produces DC electricity. It
flows through wires to the inverter, which converts the DC electricity to AC electricity.
Multiple Solar PV modules can be wired together to form a Solar PV array. Solar PV modules and
arrays produce direct current (DC) electricity. They can be connected in both series and parallel to

These types of systems may be powered by a PV array only, or may use wind, an engine generator or
utility power as an auxiliary power source in what is called a PV hybrid system. The simplest type of
stand alone PV system is a direct coupled system, where the DC output of a PV module or array is
directly connected to a DC load .
Since there is no electrical energy storage in direct coupled systems, the load only operates during
sunlight hours, making these designs suitable for common applications such as ventilation fans, water
pumps, and small circulation pumps for solar thermal water heating systems. Matching the impedance
of the electrical load to the maximum power output of the PV array is a critical part of designing well
performing direct coupled system.
For certain loads such as positive displacement water pumps, a type of electronic DC DC converter,
called a maximum power point tracker, is used between the array and load to help better utilize the
available array maximum power

Literary Analysis: The Verdict
People delegate important personal aspects of their lives to professionals, but not without the risks of
unethical behaviors. The word Professional makes one think of wealth and power, which can result in
corruption; winning by any means necessary. In the movie The Verdict, Frank Galvin plays a lawyer
who has reduced himself to being a drunken ambulance chaser (Brown, Harris, Zanuck, amp; Lumet,
1982). He is given an opportunity by his good friend, Mickey Morrisey, to morally redeem himself;
not only as a lawyer, but most importantly a person.

He was compelled to make their wrong right and did so by taking the case to trial. He viewed this as a
way to turn his life and career around by doing what was right, but he discovers quickly that Ed
Concannon was always one step ahead and through many corrosive acts almost derails Frank s case.
The Prince of Darkness Ed Concannon is a distinguished and deceitful lawyer defending the hospital
and doctors Towler and Marks. There would be no one to stand in his way of another victory; he pays
off witnesses and hired Laura Fischer, who sought out Frank romantically to get insight into his
strategies. Laura fell hard for Frank and her deceitful actions became more than she could handle. She
let Ed Concannon know and he said to her:
I m going to tell you something that I learned when I was your age. I had prepared a case and old man
White asked me, How did you do? I said, I did my best. He said, You re not paid to do your best; you
re paid to win! (Mamet, 1982, p. 59)
Ed Concannon viewed his client s as fomites that he could manipulate for profit rather than do what is
right. His approach to law was unethical both morally and professionally, but the most contentious
view of Concannon s ethical behavior was his callous views of justice.

##taire, Candide, And Nicolas Toussaints, The Noailles...
Before the French Revolution began, people were openly expressing their dissatisfaction with French
society through written means. The discontent comes from many areas, but a large focus comes from
the nobility. Voltaire, Candide, or Optimism, Isabelle de Charrière, The Nobleman (1763), and Nicolas
Toussaint le Moyne des Essarts, The Noailles Affair (1786), gives a clear representation of how the
nobility is viewed in the second half of the eighteenth century. Writers represented most of French
nobility as mainly being only concerned about their family heritage and luxurious privileges, which
greatly corresponds with reality as can be seen in William Doyle s The Oxford History of the French
Revolution. Heritage, or family lineage, for a French nobleman or woman was very important to him
or her, due to the fact that only a person born from a noble could be of noble rank. A satirical
viewpoint of this belief can be perceived in the work of Candide, or Optimism by Voltaire. Voltaire
wrote of how the Baron s sister would not marry a man because he could only ever give proof of
seventy one [quartering s], the rest of his genealogical tree having been lost through the ravages of
time (3). The satire of this statement is in the amount of quarterings, history of nobility in a family,
that he would have had to show. Seventy one quartering s is possibly as far back as to the very
creation of France as a nation, virtually impossible to show. Due to this attention towards ancient

The change process was quite long and has totally affected the organizational behaviour of the

and negotiation with the employees in order to reduce the resistance because the change was not
without some resistance of the employees. Unfreezing activity took three years because Oticon took
its time to prepare the employees to the transformation in adopting a planned change. Then occurred

when the new patterns stabilize or become institutionalised like the implement of a reward system in

internet rules, which states that the internet should be transparent and the access to it should be

providers to provide their content to all the users without unnecessary blocking by the ISPs. This

On the open internet, people can communicate freely with others, transmit and receive information of
their choice, and develop and use applications of their own choice. This is sometimes, also referred to
as Net Neutrality or Network Neutrality .
b) FCC s idea of open internet.
On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4]. This
Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line providers and
wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband providers as compared
to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from carrying out unlawful practices
in blocking the access to the content.
This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules
1. Transparency:
FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate
information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and
conditions of their broadband services. The disclosure should contain all the information necessary for
the consumers to make suitable choices for buying content, service and application [5]. However, the
service provider does not need to disclose any security information or competitively sensitive
information [5].
2. Blocking:
FCC suggests that fixed broadband providers should not block consumer from accessing any lawful
content, services, applications or non harmful devices. It also suggests

Theme Of Discrimination In Native Son
Discrimination: Past and Present In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever
since our ancestors came to the United States from England, we search only for differences in each
other. These differences can be anything from the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of
his or her gender, even political beliefs. Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due
to characteristics that they have lack control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate treatment
of this kind for so long, and the subject will eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate
due to poor treatment, there is no thought given into why they did so. Several characters from Native
Son experience this mistreatment which people are still experiencing today. In Richard Wright s novel
Native Son, the characters are treated unjustly. Due to his skin color and socioeconomic status, Bigger
Thomas misses countless opportunities in life. Almost every minority during this era is born with
some disadvantages, identical to Bigger s. For example, Bigger wants to attend aviation school and fly
an airplane, but cannot because of the color of his skin. Bigger says: I wanted to be an aviator once.
But they wouldn t let me go to the school where I was suppose to learn it. They kept all of the colored
boys out (Wright 353). Moreover, Bigger not only misses getting a proper education to have

wrenching change that exist in the microcosm of Lurie s mind, but also the parallel themes that
underlie the social, political, and ethical systems that are the reality of present day South Africa. As
David Lurie interacts with people and creatures outside his normal milieu, the fault lines between his
myopic view of the world and reality begin to crystallize with a disconcerting clarity.

He doesn t care if it s good or bad, he just does it (33). All pretense gone, the committee chair states
the obvious; the shame requested of Lurie is but a fig leaf for appearance s sake. What goes on in your
soul is dark to us, as members of... a secular tribunal if not as fellow human beings (58). This open
acknowledgment that no one cares about the content or purity of Lurie s soul isolates him within
society as well as from his own notion of self. Readers, if not Lurie himself, may begin to realize that
they too are ignorant of what lies within their own souls and that this is the kernel of alienation.
Professed ignorance of the content of the soul of others is something often relied upon in societal
relations between one group and another. The relationship between Lurie and his daughter Lucy s
neighbor, Petrus, is quite symbolic of this. Petrus is a native Afrikaner who speaks in enigmatic,
inflectionless fragments. Lurie is confronted with his presence and initially thinks he is willing to be
friends, but finds the divide too great. Petrus intent is inscrutable, his soul is initially dark to Lurie,
and, though there was a time when he thought he might become friends with Petrus... now he detests
him (152). This is the state of affairs between the races in general, so eager to find their differences
irreconcilable, each so burdened with the weight of history, each perhaps unwilling to search their own
soul.

Document Analysis Of The Articles Of Capitulation Brandt Garner Prof. Beurtheret History 1700 Document Analysis Articles of Capitulation The Articles Of Capitulation was written on July 3rd, 1754 at 8pm, in an area in present day Western Pennsylvania. This area was known at the time as the Ohio Valley and was an area that was in dispute by the French and English. French Canadian military Captain, Louis Coulon de Villers, composed the Articles Of Capitulation. This document was written in the aftermath of a short one day battle, in which Coulon had surrounded Washington s Fort Necessity, and subsequently asked for the surrender of the Virginian troops led by George Washington. Amongst those killed was M. de Jumonville, the commander. (Washington) Jacob Van Braam and Robert Stobo, both Captains shall be delivered to us as hostages until the arrival our French and Canadians, the two officers who promise us our French in two months and a half at the latest. While Robert Stobo, a captain in the Virginia militia was a captive in Fort Duquesne, he drew a scale map of the Fort and wrote a letter on the back a letter saying, When we engaged to serve the country, then he said, it was expected we were to do it with our lives. Let them not be disappointed. Consider the good of the expedition without the least regard to us. For my part, I would die ten thousand deaths to have the pleasure of possessing this fort but one day, they are so vain of their success at [Fort Necessity], tis worse than death to hear them. (Stobo) The letter eventually made it to the English forces. He was later convicted of spying after this paper fell into French hands and later the French cited it as evidence of British aggression towards them in the Ohio Valley. He sentenced to a death in Quebec, but then escaped and re joined the English forces. (Alberts) The French held Jacob Van Braam captive until September of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One might be surprised, that the basic rights we take for granted are not protected in the workplace. Employers have a legitimate interest in monitoring their employees to assure security, efficiency and productivity, however, sometimes employee monitoring goes well beyond legitimate concerns and becomes simply an invasion of privacy. The debate of employee monitoring continues on; whether it is legal, moral, or ethical. Corporations believe it is necessary to maintain security, limit their liability and to discourage dishonest activity, while employees experience a negative effect of emotional and physical stress, and lack of trust and motivation. Two immediate questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two obvious moral issues exist: The ethics of employee monitoring and the ethics of certain employee behavior. Behind The Great Emancipator Analysis Behind the great emancipator s created public persona lies the real Abraham Lincoln, a man who not only used his political standing on slavery to get into presidency by consistently changing his opinion on them, but actually had an ulterior motive to free the slaves with a questionable document, the emancipation proclamation. While some historians like Eric Foner in The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery and Richard Striner s Father Abraham: Lincoln s Relentless Struggle To End Slavery would agree that this change can be described as growth, others like James Oakes essay Freedom National: The Destruction of Slavery in the United States, 1861 1865 would say that it was all part of his initial plan to free the slaves. • 9. Intelligence Between Intelligence And Psychometric Tests Intelligence is one of the most heritable traits thus, people differ in intelligence ranges. Heritability estimates range from 25% to 40% in early childhood to 80% in adulthood. These ranges may be in specific domains but those who do well in one domain often do well in others, leading towards general intelligence. In order to measure and evaluate differences in intelligence, psychometric tests are used to cover cognitive domains. These cognitive domains are reasoning, processing speeds, executive function, memory, and spatial ability. A definition of intelligence that is prominently used by researchers is: Intelligence is a very general capability that, among other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience. It is not merely book learning, a narrow academic skill, or test‑taking smarts. Rather, it reflects a broader and deeper capability for comprehending our surroundings catching on , making sense of things, or figuring out what to do. Intelligence, so defined, can be measured, and intelligence tests measure it well. Investigation of the presence of genetic influences on general intelligence dates back to the nineteenth century, when Francis Galton published two papers concluding that mental abilities were transmitted by heredity from one generation to another15. • 32. ##taire, Candide, And Nicolas Toussaints, The Noailles... Before the French Revolution began, people were openly expressing their dissatisfaction with French society through written means. The discontent comes from many areas, but a large focus comes from the nobility. Voltaire, Candide, or Optimism, Isabelle de Charrière, The Nobleman (1763), and Nicolas Toussaint le Moyne des Essarts, The Noailles Affair (1786), gives a clear representation of how the nobility is viewed in the second half of the eighteenth century. Writers represented most of French nobility as mainly being only concerned about their family heritage and luxurious privileges, which greatly corresponds with reality as can be seen in William Doyle s The Oxford History of the French Revolution. Heritage, or family lineage, for a French nobleman or woman was very important to him or her, due to the fact that only a person born from a noble could be of noble rank. A satirical viewpoint of this belief can be perceived in the work of Candide, or Optimism by Voltaire. Voltaire wrote of how the Baron s sister would not marry a man because he could only ever give proof of seventy one [quartering s], the rest of his genealogical tree having been lost through the ravages of time (3). The satire of this statement is in the amount of quarterings, history of nobility in a family, that he would have had to show. Seventy one quartering s is possibly as far back as to the very creation of France as a nation, virtually impossible to show. Due to this attention towards ancient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4]. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content. This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules 1. Transparency: FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and conditions of their broadband services. • 38. Theme Of Discrimination In Native Son Discrimination: Past and Present In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever since our ancestors came to the United States from England, we search only for differences in each other. These differences can be anything from the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of his or her gender, even political beliefs. Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due to characteristics that they have lack control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate treatment of this kind for so long, and the subject will eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate due to poor treatment, there is no thought given into why they did so. • 39. Disgrace Fantasy vs. Reality in J. M. Coetzee s Disgrace J. M. Coetzee s novel Disgrace is, on the surface, the story of a wayward college professor, Dr. David Lurie, who is aging into a disrespectful decline. But this story tells of not only the strife and wrenching change that exist in the microcosm of Lurie s mind, but also the parallel themes that underlie the social, political, and ethical systems that are the reality of present day South Africa. As David Lurie interacts with people and creatures outside his normal milieu, the fault lines between his myopic view of the world and reality begin to crystallize with a disconcerting clarity. He doesn t care if it s good or bad, he just does it (33). All pretense gone, the committee chair states the obvious; the shame requested of Lurie is but a fig leaf for appearance s sake. What goes on in your soul is dark to us, as members of... a secular tribunal if not as fellow human beings (58). This open acknowledgment that no one cares about the content or purity of Lurie s soul isolates him within society as well as from his own notion of self. Readers, if not Lurie himself, may begin to realize that they too are ignorant of what lies within their own souls and that this is the kernel of alienation. Professed ignorance of the content of the soul of others is something often relied upon in societal relations between one group and another. The relationship between Lurie and his daughter Lucy s neighbor, Petrus, is quite symbolic of this. Petrus is a native Afrikaner who speaks in enigmatic, inflectionless fragments. Lurie is confronted with his presence and initially thinks he is willing to be friends, but finds the divide too great. Petrus intent is inscrutable, his soul is initially dark to Lurie, and, though there was a time when he thought he might become friends with Petrus... now he detests him (152). This is the state of affairs between the races in general, so eager to find their differences irreconcilable, each so burdened with the weight of history, each perhaps unwilling to search their own soul. ...
