The Importance Of The Post Office
The United States Post Office was established by the Second Continental Congress in 1775. The Post
Office has been part of American society for almost two centuries and through the years it has been
changing with America. It was an important method for people to communicate in the past, however,
is it relevant in today s society? The issue of eliminating or keeping the Post Office resulted in a
controversy among the United States. The Post Office should be eliminated due to the debt the post
office is facing each year, more usage of technology, and slow modifications.
Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution offers the Congress its powers and limits. According to Article I,
Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, which is known as the Postal Clause, empowers
Congress To establish Post Offices and post Roads. The Postal Clause has been interpreted to provide
Congress the authority to appoint post offices and mail routes. Therefore, Congress has the power to
carry, deliver, and regulate the mails of the United States as a whole.
The first issue the Post Office has been struggling with is accumulated debt. For the past ten years, the
United States Postal Service documented annual losses around $15 billion. (usatoday) Furthermore, in
2012 the Post Office was unable to pay out their retiree health benefits of $11 billion. In 2013, the Post
Service tried to address the issues they have been facing in the past, they proposed lowering future

Essay On Pompeii
How does Pompeii relate to the wider Roman world?
The ancient Roman city of Pompeii was located near modern day Naples, in the Italian region of
Campania. Destroyed and buried under 20ft of ash and pumice with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in
79 AD, at the height of its glory and grandeur ... Pompeii was one of the largest cities in the empire
with a population totalling 20,000 . This paper will look at the socio economic structure in both
Pompeii and the wider Roman world. Pompeii was a typical Roman city, imitating the capital city of
Rome. Life was dependent on economic status: commerce and agriculture contributed to the economy,
while the Roman baths and amphitheatre provided leisure to the citizens of the Roman Empire.
Pompeii s ruins give an unparalleled glimpse into the daily life of city dwellers. During the first
century AD, Pompeii prospered as a commercial and farming centre ... with commodities including
wool, flowers and perfume, and garum . In order to enhance its status within the Roman world,
Pompeii s buildings emulated the magnificent public buildings that were found in the capital city,
Rome .

... The arena accommodated all social classes, demonstrating the universal popularity of the games .
The official title for the amphitheatre was the Latin word Spectacula . This reflects the fact that the
gladiatorial events and venationes staged in the arena evolved during the Roman Republic, and later
the Roman Empire. Gladiatorial combat involved highly trained and expensive professionals . The
gladiators followed rules in order to entertain spectators and encourage displays of martial excellence:
a demonstration of bravery in the face of death, and of discipline and skill with arms . In both Pompeii
and the wider Roman world, most gladiators would have been slaves, enemy soldier prisoners or paid
volunteers; some emperors would also fight in the arena, but risks to themselves were

Mmr Vaccine To Autism
There have been several studies linking the MMR vaccine to Autism. From what I have read, it seems
that the MMR vaccine has not had anything to do with Autism. The major study that we are writing
about is what Andrew Wakefield and his twelve colleagues published in the journal, Lancet. During
this study, Andrew Wakefield and the 12 co authors suggest that the MMR vaccine may predispose to
behavioral regression and pervasive developmental disorder in children (NCBI, 2011). Because of
Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues, the MMR vaccine numbers began to plummet. They started to
plummet because parents were concerned about their children and did not want this vaccination to
cause their children to develop Autism. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder of children,
characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional detachment: now
considered one of the autism spectrum disorders (Dictionary.com). And MMR Vaccine is the
immunization vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella or also known as a German measles.
Many people thought that the MMR vaccine leads to autism because, the MMR vaccine is given to
children early on in their childhood, and so is the diagnosis of Autism. This made people think that the
two were related somehow.
After the study by Andrew Wakefield, epidemiological studies were conducted and published, stating
the opposite of what Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues stated. During the time this paper was
written, about 90 percent of children in England received MMR vaccine (Children s Hospital of
Philadelphia, 2014). Children are given the MMR vaccine around the same time that they are
diagnosed with Autism, and Doctor Wakefield used that to his advantage. It was also stated, it would
be expected that most children with autism would have received an MMR vaccine (Children s
Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Doctor Wakefield and his twelve colleagues picked what information
they chose to use. They also chose information that would also falsify facts to their benefit as well
(NCBI, 2011). Their study was one sided, which made their paper seem correct and influenced parents
to withhold their children from getting vaccinated. The study that Doctor Wakefield and his

Formal And Substantive Theory Of The Rule Of Law
The statement above said by Lord Bingham, from The Rule of Law (2007) 66 (1) Cambridge Law
Journal 67 85, p. 76. The statement references that the rule of law is not abided by if the state does not
provide human protection. This statement can be looked upon, agreed and disagreed with after
reviewing the two theories in the rule of law. This will be made possible, as I compare Joseph Raz s
formal theory and Lord Bingham s Substantive Theory on the rule of law. But firstly, I will address
what the Rule of Law is; Rule of Law definition from Oxford dictionary The supremacy of Law is a
feature attributed to the UK constitution by Professor Dicey (Law of Constitution, 1885). We can t
write off the rule of law as irrelevant rhetoric: it has been recognised as an important constitutional
principle in an Act of Parliament: Constitutional Reform Act 2005 1. The rule of Law; This act does
not adversely affect (a) the existing constitutional principle of the rule of law, and is routinely cited as
a constitutional principle by the courts. Very vaguely, the rule of law is: the name commonly given to
the state of affairs in which a legal system is legally in good shape. J. Finnis, Natural Law and Natural
Rights (OUP 1980), p. 270 Formal and Substantive definitions of the rule of law Within the rule of

Building A Working Environment For A Small Coffee Shop Essay
Scenario
A property developer is converting an old railway station into retail and office accommodation. The
client is keen to make the working environment for the staff as comfortable as possible. As a
consultant, explain how this can be done by addressing the relevant grading criteria.
Introduction
I am hoping to convert this railway station into an office with a small coffee shop also in the building.
The railway station is very old and hard to heat, so there will have to be a large amount of work done
to make the building a nice place for people to work. There also isn t any lighting in the surrounding
area so I will have to think about that when I am contracting the building proposal. The three factors
that will have to be considered are Heat, Lighting and Acoustics, these are the main things that will
ensure comfort within the offices and corner shop if they are at the optimum level. I will now work
through the assignment and always think of the changes required to transform the railway station into
an office.
Task 1
Task A:
Identify and describe the basic factors that will influence human comfort in the retail office
accommodation in thermal, acoustic and visual terms.
There are three main factors that influence human comfort in the office setting, these are: Thermal
terms, Acoustic Terms and Visual terms. Thermal terms include the clothing of an employee or the air
temperature in the workplace. Air temperature is arguably the most important factor that

Physical Differences InCathedral, By Raymond Carver
In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the
story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences.
Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing
that the main character s connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the
importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages
emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how they
can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people.
The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked at
them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking is the
shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and gives the
impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object. The narrator
never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me. My idea of
blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed (Carver
102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic counterparts. He did
not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their appearance, and the
narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the beginning of the story
and gave the reader a taste of the connection between
Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection
with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked.
The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this
ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is
exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to look at
the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by his actions:
I reached to draw her robe back

market share, making it the strong player in the market. Secondly, as the company is able to acquire its
competitors (Flexcar US, Streetcar Ltd UK), they can reduce the competitors as well as gain those
market shares and customer bases from those 2 companies. Thirdly, Zipcar s customer friendly and
disruptive business model is what makes it unique. They leverages accessibility, make it available

In consequent, they have limit cash to pay for daily operating costs that get higher every day and they

lots for its vehicles especially in densely populated cities such as New York and London. A start up
business may find it difficult to anticipate cost of parking. Moreover, there are different preferences of
car in different markets. It is hard for a start up company to meet every need of the consumers. Finally,
the limitation of technology makes it hard for a start up company to catch up with the big players in
the market. It s probably because of the limited capital and inability to access to such innovation. With
advanced technology, the big players can easily operate their businesses and provides much
convenience more than a start up company, which results in a great distance between them to catch up

How creativity has been applied to a business idea or problem
To make a business grow and achieve productive and efficient results you need to invoke creativity
which has always been an essential business skill. Since long time creativity has been applied to a
business world as companies seek to use it in all parts of the organization to make it gain more profits
and to be exceptional from others. A business person has to find unique solutions every day and he has
to know how to react to situation creatively. Richard Florida (2002) stated human creativity is the

Companies have started to use personality tests in the past five years so that they can find a potential
employee s strengths and weaknesses. If questions and answers are quite accurate and test is done
properly it can help an employer to find more about person s advantages and disadvantages. It is very
important to know because one of the most important points is that most of personality tests help to
recognize unqualified candidates. Although experts warn that many personality assessments don t
deliver what they promise, legitimate scientifically validated tests are helping employers evaluate job
candidates to select those best suited for particular positions. Other tests are designed to measure
intelligence, honesty, management aptitude and other qualities.
Napoleon Hill stated ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes. When you have a great business
idea it is not enough just have it somewhere in your brain, the second thing to do is to realize it in
other words it is called idea feasibility. Same as this American author stated by having a successful
idea you can open doors to new opportunities and attract fortune. The idea is like a new product which
can be applied to a new business. The more successful the product is the better results it will give in

Culture Awareness In Nigeria
Culture is defined as the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or
social group. according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average individual?
When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You
can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing
place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly the same. It is always
interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture compares to others.
For example, Nigeria (when compared to the United States) is a very different place which could be a
vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or society. Nigeria is
relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average
age is only 17.9 years old where the United States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old.
Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live can make one very successful
when they find themselves in a foreign environment.
Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in
the world. Despite its size Nigeria has a population of 190,632,261, according to The World Factbook
(2017), which is the seventh largest in the world. The President of Nigeria is Muhammadu Buhari who

Comparing Articles on the September 11th Attack in Two...
In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able
to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a
gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have
chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on
looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because
both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must
be described in great detail. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the
reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of
devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people.
The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir
Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures
and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The
placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping
over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a
tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably
over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the
picture of the child was put in because it is moving. At the bottom of the page there are pictures of Sir
Rudy Guiliani, Robert de Niro and George Bush. These pictures are

Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and...
Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130
In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and
transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another
subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic
of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level
of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is
the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is
of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she
is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is
far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the
original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as
any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind
of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to
the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor
John Kerrigan concludes:
Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you
alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with .
This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of
emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that
trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither.
The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge
stereotype than an actual real life woman,

General Mcauliffe s Defeat In The Battle Of Bastogne
In the midst of Battle of the Bulge, the Germans needed to establish one last major offensive attack in
order to seize the Belgian town of Bastogne and to push the Allied front line west of France. However,
the United States and Allied Forces were already making efforts in retaining key intersections of
Bastogne that provided the only means of mounted maneuver through the dense and mountainous
Ardennes Forest. In an attempt to prevent casualties of war, General Heinrich Freiherr, commander of
the German forces, sent an ultimatum to the American commander of the 101st Airborne Division,
Brigadier General Anthony C. McAuliffe. The written demand ordered to surrender in two hours or
U.S. troops would face total annihilation from six battalions of armor and artillery. The U.S. general
replied with one word that became the most memorable replies in history, NUTS! The general s reply

The Nature Of Rome s Relationship
On the Nature of Rome s Relationship to the Individual and the Collective Livy s history tells in detail
the events that sum up to the life of Rome, from its inception to Augustus rule. Not a modern
historian, his writing is a milieu of transcribed cultural memory, creative narrative and more legitimate
historical writing. While there are undoubtedly moments of falsehood, it is equally true that Livy
captured many authentic historical facts in his work. In addition, this text became immensely popular
after its publishing, and so the vast audience the book enjoyed may have transformed literary fallacy
into accepted truth. What is certainly true is that Livy was writing in one of the most tumultuous
moments in Roman history; for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Livy s History portrays in early Rome the superior power of individuals over the collective in shaping
the world, their ability to enact change they themselves desire correlating to their consideration of the
collective s interest. Opposition to such a claim might make the correct observation that, over time,
power appears to dilute, slowly acquired by more and more of the populus romanus. kings make way
for consuls, patricians lose political monopolies to the plebs, etc. While the number of people with real
political power does in fact increase, collective action is almost never the impetus for any action in
Livy s writings. To start at the beginning, it is a series of kings transform an empty land to a sizeable
city state. After much warring, Numa established treaties and tempered the overly aggressive Roman
with religion (The Rise of Rome 24). Servius Tullius created the census, perhaps the greatest tool of
Roman governance (The Rise of Rome 50). But there was king Tarquinius Superbus. Not only did he

Beloved Violence
The introduction of Beloved in her corporeal form constructs another interesting facet to this theme of
violence as resistance. As she spends more time on Bluestone Road, her behaviour becomes
increasingly frightening. However, she does not represent a character that is capable of violence in
itself: she merely mirrors Sethe s own disjointed internal state: with the loss of Paul D, Sethe becomes
progressively more psychologically dependent on Beloved, who she finally recognises as her
daughter. Morrison presents Sethe s descent into the overwhelming guilt and madness of her past
through the avid use of surrealism and stream of consciousness to display just how fragmented Sethe s
psyche becomes. She loses her job because she has the need to reclaim the relationship she never had
the chance to develop. This becomes a paradoxical conflict for Sethe, as by attempting to reclaim a
relationship with her dead daughter, she is merely reinforcing her own guilt. ... Show more content on

These rememories serve as a platform of resistance, as they involve neither memory nor forgetting,
but memory combined with (the threat of) repetition (Hirsh, 1994: 96). Sethe s often violent
rememories of her killing her daughter is why Beloved manifests as such a menacing character, one
who [takes] the best of everything first (Morrison, 2007: 241). Beloved s violence is thus not violence
in the true sense of the word: it is a material masochistic reflection of Sethe s own internal guilt that
ate up [Sethe s life], took it, swelled up with it, and grew taller on it (Morrison, 2007: 250). Beloved

Van Gogh And His Works
Van Gogh moved to Arles in 1888, where he wanted to start a colony of artists who would all live and
create together (Department of European Paintings). This community did not actually come together
because no one went to work with van Gogh. However, Vincent s hero Paul Gauguin did visit and
work with him. When van Gogh heard of this news, he became excited and optimistic. In preparation
for Gauguin s visit, he created a series of bright yellow sunflower paintings. It was his intention to
decorate Gauguin s room in the Yellow House which he had rented with the paintings (Sooke;
Wiggins). The blue lines separating the different shades of yellow in the painting might be a reference
to Gauguin s work as this is similar to a technique he sometimes used (Sooke). Gauguin did stay and
work with van Gogh for several months (Wiggins). He loved the paintings of sunflowers. These works
impressed him and even asked Vincent if he could keep one (Van Gogh Museum). However, the two
did not work well together, nor did they get along. Gauguin worked from his imagination and tried to
convince van Gogh to paint this way too. However, van Gogh needed a reference to base his works off
of and could not simply use his imagination. Van Gogh made paintings of sunflowers in vases in total,
though three are copies of his own work (Wiggins). Of the four original paintings, one is in the Neue

Climate Change Is The Effect On The Planet
Climate Change Who would have ever believed that it has come to this? The Columbia Encyclopedia
(2006) has indicated that Planetary Climate Change is the gradual increase of the temperature of the
earth s atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the time of the Industrial
Revolution. now, obviously there are some issues with this, and more than a few theories pertaining to
it; all of which relate to the primary culprits of the gases. Things like the burning of fossil fuels, as an
example. Other things like global deforestation, the clearing of huge swaths of Amazon Basin, and
even cattle! Unfortunately, there are a number of conflicting opinions as to whether or not any or all of
these are contributing factors of climate change. One of the major concerns pertaining to climate
change is the effects on the planet. As we, all know, along with the increase in atmospheric surface
temperatures on the earth, the weather begins to alter its patterns and change. This results in some
rather unusual events. The United Nations panel on Climate Change (2007) actually released some
rather disturbing findings. It reported that overall, there has been a considerable increase in the power
of global hurricanes ever since the 1970 s. The Poles are losing more and more of their ice in the
summer months, the North Pole loses almost all of it, glaciers are receding globally, and there is a
noticeable increase in the rising of the oceans...that s only the beginning! Each

eventually decide to give speeches on love. The men all take turns giving their various speeches on
Love, each attacking the idea of Love in a different way. Phaedrus talks about Love s origins and how
Love encourages people to be virtuous, Pausanias makes the distinction between Common Love (love
of body) and Celestial Love (love of mind), Eryximachus talks about how Love promotes balance,
Aristophanes talks about how Love is about people continually searching for their other half (quite
literally), but how people can never find this other half, so people will never be whole, and finally
Agathon talks about Love s beauty and Love s desire for beauty. When Socrates speaks, he starts off
by saying that he will give the truth about Love, which he claims no one else did. He proves this by
questioning Agathon s speech, asking how Love can both be beautiful and desire beauty when people
do not desire what they already have. Furthermore, Socrates recounts a conversation about Love with
Diotima, whose view of Love combines parts of all the other speeches into one truth about love. True
love is passing on one s ideas through celestial love in order to live forever. The clearest part of
Diotima s argument about love is that people use love to make themselves immortal. After Diotima
has finished incorporating the ideas of every speech about Love into one giant truth about love, she

What is loyalty to you? Is it keeping a secret that could possibly destroy a relationship? In
William Shakespeare s Hamlet, there are many different ideas as to what loyalty is interpreted.

As the two characters both show their loyalty to those around them. Hamlet s close friend Horatio
shows his loyalty to the young prince. Throughout the play Horatio is the only one that stayed true to
Hamlet while others betrayed him. As readers our perspective of Hamlet is he is insane, bitter and
immature. However the character of Horatio expresses that whatever the situation may be he will be
always present for his friend. In Act V Scene 2, the character of Hamlet is slain by
Laertes. In this scene Horatio says Never believe it. I am more an antique Roman than a Dane.
Here s yet some liquor left. (V.2. 336 338) In this scene, Horatio sees Hamlet wounded with the
poison sword and Horatio offers to the prince that he too will commit suicide. However,
Hamlet shows his loyalty to Horatio as he tells him that he should live and tell his story. Hamlet shows
his gratitude to his beloved friend by leaving him the task of finding words to clear his name.
Therefore both Horatio and Hamlet demonstrate loyalty to each other. In addition
Laertes shows loyalty to Hamlets family but not to him as an individual. Laertes is loyal

The Use Of Glycerol Residue
ABSTRACT: The use of glycerol residue, a palm oil waste from Oleochemical industries as a raw
material for the production of succinic acid with immobilized cell fermentation process was
investigated. In this work, the raw material, immobilized cells to produced succinic acid were
characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope
instruments. Based on the results, the functional group appearing for treated and commercial glycerol
is the hydroxyl, aromatic methoxyl, alkenes, soap, carbonyl and alcohol group. The hydroxyl group
which is O H appeared at a spectra value of 3394.2700 cm 1for the treated glycerol and 3299.9600 cm

majority of pores fall within range and the shapes was ellipsoid and a thick skin around strains was
detectable, therefore indicating that immobilized cell prepared for fermnatation process is an attractive

Post Colonial Mexico Essay
The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio Diaz,
Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in classification of the
revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions advocated for the overthrow
of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or economical revolution. A social
revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic aspects of society, encompassing
the political structure, economically distribution, and social hierarchy. These men set forth some major
objectives to revive Mexico that led to the Mexico Revolution of 1910 1916 and the Constitution of
1917.

The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow the
dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together under the
leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a number of revolts
and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911, Madero and his men attached
the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s federals. Madero and his men continued
attacking other cities and they were warned not to get too close to the U.S. border because it might
hurt Americans in the process of them fighting within their own country. However, his generals,
Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders,
and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz
agreed to resign and to go into exile. On November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new
President of Mexico in almost 30 years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to
challenge Diaz, but he did not want to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to
which his family belonged. He kept most of the power structure created by Diaz intact, much to the
dismay of those who had hoped for significant change. Very quickly, Madero alienated his former
allies, Pascal Orozco and Emiliano Zapata. Emiliano Zapata was born in

The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations Essay
The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations
No novel is complete without a good ending. Although the introductory and middle portions are
important as well, the conclusion is what the reader tends to remember most. When Charles Dickens
wrote Great Expectations, he crafted a work that is truly excellent the whole way through. From the
moment Pip is introduced until he and Estella walk out of the garden in the final chapter, this book
exhibits an uncanny ability to keep the reader wanting more. There is, however, some debate
regarding the final portion of the novel. The ending that Dickens originally wrote for Great
Expectations is noticeably different than the one that was subsequently published. It seems ... Show

Although no mention of past events is made, Pip can tell that Estella had been through misery more
intense than that which he himself had gone through almost ten years prior. This misery, Pip believes,
has enabled Estella to understand the suffering that he had once felt.
Through the years, a number of individuals have argued that this is the best way for the novel to
conclude. These people tend to believe that this ending is more true to the overall tone of the novel
than the revised finale. Great Expectations never exists as a typically happy story. Its plot is marked by
constant disappointment and suffering, which would therefore make the application of a happy,
romantic ending seem rather unnatural. By the end of the story, Pip has learned a great deal about
himself and reached a new level of maturity. He has come to recognize the mistakes that he had made
as a young man and is able to appreciate the importance of family. No longer is he consumed by a
selfish desire for wealth and social status. Pip s primary motivation for attaining such a gentlemanly
status had been his desire to marry Estella. By the end of the novel, however, Pip s character has been
redeemed. He has progressed beyond the point in his life that was represented by his love for Estella.
This deliverance would then seem to make it impossible for Pip to continue loving Estella. She was a
part of his youth; Pip, however, has become a man.

The Religion of Buddhism is Based on Edifications of...
Buddhism is a religion predicated on the edifications of Siddhartha Gautama, who lived about 25
centuries ago in what is now Nepal and northeastern India. He came to be called the Buddha, which
betokens aroused one, after he experienced a profound realization of the nature of life, death and
subsistence. In English, the Buddha was verbalized to be enlightened, albeit in Sanskrit it is bodhi,

Buddha s edifications. To ken who we are, we require to understand that we have two natures. One is
called our mundane nature, which is composed of unpleasant feelings such as fear, vexation, and
jealousy. The other is our true nature, the component of us that is pristine, sagacious, and perfect. In
Buddhism, it is called the Buddha nature. The only distinguishment between us and the Buddha is that
we have not aroused to our true nature. Buddhists do not believe in a single, omniscient God. The
Buddhist understanding of the universe includes the apperception that there are an abundance of
aspects of this universe; this authenticity, that we don t understand. Through analytical rumination and
other practices we can understand the deeper truths about this authenticity; truths that is
indecipherable with our everyday minds. When we reach enlightenment we will understand it, and
until then there is no reason to believe that there either is or isn t a Deity. Buddhists aren t

The Beatles Fashion Analysis
The Beatles and Fashion In the 1960 s four young men, John, George, Paul and Ringo, emerged on the
British music scene as a newly founded group, the Beatles. When they first became popular in
Liverpool, England, little did they know they would make such an impact on Britain s fashion scene.
The Beatles were able to transform Britain s fashion through their clothing style and their look. The
most influential year for the Beatles was 1963 due to their impact on fashion.
Background
The fashion scene of London in the 1960 s before the emergence of the Beatles was already vibrant
and thriving. Time Magazine dubbed London Swinging London , due to its hip feeling . The idea of
Swinging London emerged after the post war boom, and the 60 s were a time of change. According to
David Gilbert, London [metamorphosed] from a gloomy, grimy post War capital into a bright, shining
epicentre of style. Within Swinging London , there was a youth subculture called the Mods , which
stemmed from modernist, a term used in the 1950s to describe modern jazz musicians and fans. Being
Mod , meant that they were he people of the future , and ahead of their times. The mod s represented
one of the everyday youth counter cultures . The emergence of new clothing during the 1960 s
drastically affected the style and color of the clothing wore in London, Liverpool and as well as other
areas of Britian. Before this fashion revolution, London was a dull area, where everyone wore the
same colors, and there was not much variation in clothing style. According to Marissa Klein, In the
1940 s, England had no use for bright fashion. There was no need for bright fashion, because England
was at war. This revolution got rid of the Teddy boy look, which consisted of; Edwardian style suits,
sideburns and a collarless white t shirt. The other fashionable style was Beat style, and people that
wore the style were called Beatniks. Beatniks were people that dressed up like poets and wore all
black. The Beatles fashion was picked up by a subculture of the Swinging London movement, the
Mod s. As Lennon explained, Changing a lifestyle and the appearance of youth did not just happen.

Don’t Discriminate the Breed
How would you react if you became next to or close to a stray dog? Would you respond by running,
yelling, or even kicking or hitting the animal? Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even
walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn t make it aggressive. Aggression is such a broad term
and it s not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial
aggression, fear motivated aggression, and pain induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a
mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called protective
aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is
when you dog chases up and down the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their
own safety. That is known as fear motivated aggression. This often occurs most then a dog is stuck or
cornered. Pain induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do
that it is to try and help their selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are
approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say aggression is random but it
s not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. It is also always response to something in the dog s
environment whether it is an action of a human or the appearance/attitude of another dog. Cesar

Legal Status of Early Year Framework for Child Development
Legal status of early year framework
Developed countries has made early year framework for child development with respect to their needs
and some of them has made it mandatory in their countries. For example, early year framework is part
of the council of Australian Government s reform agenda and is a major part of the Australian
Government s National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care. Similarly, some
parts of America have its own early year framework for the child development, as Victoria has its own

Persuasive Essay On Music Education
Music Education Despite the vast number of children who learn musical instruments, many people
still do not fully understand all the benefits of music education. When budget cuts and low funding
threaten course elimination, music is often one of the first to go. This should not be the case, however,
because learning to play an instrument can build self esteem, increase various social and academic
skills and can help them become a well rounded person (Montgomery). Music education is incredibly
valuable, especially for children. The benefits that children can gain from learning music will make
lasting impacts on them. Playing musical instruments has copious benefits on a child s intellect, and
social skills, and personal growth. Learning music has incredible benefits on children s cognitive
development and intelligence. Children gain many skills through music, and a child learning about
music has to tap into multiple skill sets, often simultaneously (Brown). Learning music substantially
helps children grow in other areas of learning. In a study by E. Glenn Schellenberg, six year olds were
given voice and piano lessons and their IQ s were compared to six year olds without music lessons. At
the end of the experiment, ...the children who were given music lessons over the school year tested on
average three IQ points higher than the other groups (Brown). When children are involved in music,
they are increasing their intellectual capacity. The ability to play or sing music can help children in
math, english, and and problem solving. There have been countless studies and research that show
higher test scores and grades in musical students when compared to non musical students. In fact, a
research team exploring the link between music and intelligence reported that music training is far
superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children s abstract reasoning skills, the
skills necessary for learning math and science (Shankar Mahadevan Academy). Music is an artistic
area of study, but clearly has a strong impact on important core subjects for students. Through
understanding rhythm and scales, as well as beats per measure, children can learn about fractions and
other math skills. Reading the

19 December 2016 COMPARATIVE ESSAY ON THE MARTIAN AND MINORITY REPORT A
comparison between the movies Minority report and The Martian demonstrates how both movies
differ and what makes it significant on its own. Minority report is a movie that is based on the year
2054. It is mainly about a special unit of the police department called Precrime. Precrime is a
department that arrests murderers before they can commit the actual crime. The heart and brain of
precrime was based on the visions of the three precogs who were used to stop murder before it
happens and whose prophesies about the future events are never wrong. In the martian, after the great
storm attack the team leader, Lewis thinking that one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the martian, Mark said I m not gonna die here...None of these matter if I don t get to NASA . Mark
though he would die in mars but he changed his own fate. He changed it by making plans for his life
in mars and preparing ahead. In the minority report, one of the major question that was asked was
whether the future is accurate or whether free will could alter the future. We don t choose the things
we believe in; they choose us (Minority report, Burgess). This free will does exist because when the
murderers control their actions then, the precogs visions are but the facts that occurred from their
choice of action. John tried to change his destiny but since there was no minority report which means
there was no alternative fate for John, the only way he could change his future was by his choice of
action. The only similarity that can be found in their fate and destiny was that they were both
supposed to die but in the end, both changed their

Analysis Of Sal Castro And Maria Tula s Hear My Testimony
Blowout!, by Sal Castro and Maria Tula s Hear my Testimony are both testimonios, meaning that they
are told in the first person narrative. They provide an accurate representation of the attitude and
ideology of not only their own, but others at that time period as well. In both books, the testimonio
helped tell a fuller story because it provided a deeper first hand view of socially significant scenes and
demonstrated, through their own voice, first hand how characters identities were developed. These
individuals were transformed because they faced realizations of larger political pictures. Cesar Chavez
was a civil rights activist who organized the earliest Chicano movements. In an essay by Jorge
Mariscal, Chavez s political ideology is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains an encounter where a teacher told him, Sit in the encounter until you learn English
(Garcia Castro, Blowout! pg32). This quote shows that even in the first grade Castro realized that
racism was alive and present, and it was wrong. He believed that it was wrong for the school to be
treating him a certain way (badly), simply because of his culture. Through the testimonio, these early
encounters show us how Castro s identity and core values were shaped. Furthermore, Castro s
testimonio allows him to tell a fuller story of social activism. For example, Castro vividly recalls the
Watts Riot that took place in Los Angeles. The Watts Riot was the result of the community reacting to
allegations of police brutality against an African American motorcyclist. Castros explains, If you lived
or worked anywhere near Watts, located south of the downtown area, you saw and smelled the smoke
from the burning cars and buildings. (Garcia Castro, Blowout! pg131). This demonstrates how the
testimonio gave us a different view of social activism that was occurring during the time period. It is
portrayed to us through a personal response of someone who experience it first hand. As the Blowouts
progressed the Chicano students attitudes changed. A student explains after the movement, were the
first time that we began to develop consciousness...It was very affirmative. Thats where you began to
have an identity (Garcia Castro, Blowout! pg 322). The Chicano

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman.
In the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman, the central thesis that he
tries to point out is that emotional intelligence may be more important than I.Q. in
determining a person s well being and success in life. At first I didn t know what
Goleman was talking about when he said emotional intelligence, but after reading the
book I have to say that I agree completely with Goleman. One reason for my acceptance
of Goleman s theory is that academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life. To
me, emotions can be just as intelligent as your I.Q. In this book report I hope to provide
sufficient evidence to show why I agree with Goleman s thesis on emotional intelligence.

are ambitious, productive, and uneasy with sexual and sensual experience. That high
I.Q. people are the caricature of the intellectual, adept in the realm of mind but inept in
the personal world. And all of this is just for the men. Goleman states, The profiles
differ slightly for men and women. High I.Q. women have intellectual confidence, are
fluent in expressing their thoughts and have a wide range of intellectual and aesthetic
interests. Goleman also does point out that these are extremes and that everyone mixes
I.Q. and emotional intelligence in varying degrees. But this does give us an instructive
look at what each of these dimensions adds to a person s qualities.
In the book, Emotional Intelligence , Goleman talks about two psychologists
(Sternberg and Salovey) who have taken a wider view on intelligence and give terms of
what they think it takes to lead a successful life. They mention five domains they think
lead up to high emotional intelligence. These domains are: knowing one s emotions,
managing emotions, motivating oneself, recognizing emotions of others, and handling
relationships. If you think about it, these domains are big keys to life. I mean if you
don t have any self awareness, you are missing a key element of emotional intelligence.
How would you be able to ever know what another person is feeling if you can t even
recognize your own feelings. Being able to manage your own emotions

TERM RESEARCH PAPER ON ATTENTION DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER
Introduction Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD ) is a common childhood disorder that
represents developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and overactivity. It occurs
in 3% to 5% of the school age population as stated by (Craighead, Craighead, Kazdin Mahoney,
1994). Another author (Barkley, 1981) stated that ADHD occurs in at least one child in every
classroom. As a result of these statistics, ADHD has become one of the most commonly referred and
heavily studied psychological disorders of childhood. Studies show that about 50 60% of children with
ADHD in the age range of five to seven years are hostile and defiant. By the ... Show more content on

Some major causal variables that have been identified are categorised as neurological factors, toxic
reactions, genetic linkages and environmental factors. However, most of the available evidence found,
points to neurological factors, which are imbalances of neurotransmitters in the brain, and genetic
variables as the primary causes of ADHD. The environmental factors and toxic reactions (such as lead
exposure and food additives) are considered very minimal causes of ADHD. The search for causes of
ADHD continues. There are many variables which are biological or thought to have an affect on
biological functioning. Assessment of ADHD An evaluation of a child with ADHD includes multiple
assessment techniques. The main goals of the assessment are: 1. to gather information about the
developmental deviance of ADHD symptoms or other behavioural problems. 2. to rule out other
psychiatric, learning or emotional problems that may be causing inattention, impulsivity, and/or
overactivity. 3. to determine the degree of consistency between the sources and across situations with
respect to reports of behaviours associated with ADHD. 4. to identify and prioritise targets for
intervention. Conducting interviews with parents, teachers and the child. To determine the four factors
just mentioned, the following methods are used: 1. Interviews to be conducted with parents, teachers
and the child 2. Rating Scales to compare the child s

  • 2. The Importance Of The Post Office The United States Post Office was established by the Second Continental Congress in 1775. The Post Office has been part of American society for almost two centuries and through the years it has been changing with America. It was an important method for people to communicate in the past, however, is it relevant in today s society? The issue of eliminating or keeping the Post Office resulted in a controversy among the United States. The Post Office should be eliminated due to the debt the post office is facing each year, more usage of technology, and slow modifications. Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution offers the Congress its powers and limits. According to Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, which is known as the Postal Clause, empowers Congress To establish Post Offices and post Roads. The Postal Clause has been interpreted to provide Congress the authority to appoint post offices and mail routes. Therefore, Congress has the power to carry, deliver, and regulate the mails of the United States as a whole. The first issue the Post Office has been struggling with is accumulated debt. For the past ten years, the United States Postal Service documented annual losses around $15 billion. (usatoday) Furthermore, in 2012 the Post Office was unable to pay out their retiree health benefits of $11 billion. In 2013, the Post Service tried to address the issues they have been facing in the past, they proposed lowering future Federal Employee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Destroyed and buried under 20ft of ash and pumice with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, at the height of its glory and grandeur ... Pompeii was one of the largest cities in the empire with a population totalling 20,000 . This paper will look at the socio economic structure in both Pompeii and the wider Roman world. Pompeii was a typical Roman city, imitating the capital city of Rome. Life was dependent on economic status: commerce and agriculture contributed to the economy, while the Roman baths and amphitheatre provided leisure to the citizens of the Roman Empire. Pompeii s ruins give an unparalleled glimpse into the daily life of city dwellers. The official title for the amphitheatre was the Latin word Spectacula . Gladiatorial combat involved highly trained and expensive professionals . The gladiators followed rules in order to entertain spectators and encourage displays of martial excellence: a demonstration of bravery in the face of death, and of discipline and skill with arms . • 4. Mmr Vaccine To Autism There have been several studies linking the MMR vaccine to Autism. From what I have read, it seems that the MMR vaccine has not had anything to do with Autism. The major study that we are writing about is what Andrew Wakefield and his twelve colleagues published in the journal, Lancet. During this study, Andrew Wakefield and the 12 co authors suggest that the MMR vaccine may predispose to behavioral regression and pervasive developmental disorder in children (NCBI, 2011). Because of Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues, the MMR vaccine numbers began to plummet. They started to plummet because parents were concerned about their children and did not want this vaccination to cause their children to develop Autism. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder of children, characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional detachment: now considered one of the autism spectrum disorders (Dictionary.com). And MMR Vaccine is the immunization vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella or also known as a German measles. Many people thought that the MMR vaccine leads to autism because, the MMR vaccine is given to children early on in their childhood, and so is the diagnosis of Autism. This made people think that the two were related somehow. After the study by Andrew Wakefield, epidemiological studies were conducted and published, stating the opposite of what Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues stated. During the time this paper was written, about 90 percent of children in England received MMR vaccine (Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Children are given the MMR vaccine around the same time that they are diagnosed with Autism, and Doctor Wakefield used that to his advantage. It was also stated, it would be expected that most children with autism would have received an MMR vaccine (Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Doctor Wakefield and his twelve colleagues picked what information they chose to use. They also chose information that would also falsify facts to their benefit as well (NCBI, 2011). Their study was one sided, which made their paper seem correct and influenced parents to withhold their children from getting vaccinated. The study that Doctor Wakefield and his ... • 5. Formal And Substantive Theory Of The Rule Of Law The statement above said by Lord Bingham, from The Rule of Law (2007) 66 (1) Cambridge Law Journal 67 85, p. 76. The statement references that the rule of law is not abided by if the state does not provide human protection. This statement can be looked upon, agreed and disagreed with after reviewing the two theories in the rule of law. This will be made possible, as I compare Joseph Raz s formal theory and Lord Bingham s Substantive Theory on the rule of law. But firstly, I will address what the Rule of Law is; Rule of Law definition from Oxford dictionary The supremacy of Law is a feature attributed to the UK constitution by Professor Dicey (Law of Constitution, 1885). We can t write off the rule of law as irrelevant rhetoric: it has been recognised as an important constitutional principle in an Act of Parliament: Constitutional Reform Act 2005 1. The rule of Law; This act does not adversely affect (a) the existing constitutional principle of the rule of law, and is routinely cited as a constitutional principle by the courts. Very vaguely, the rule of law is: the name commonly given to the state of affairs in which a legal system is legally in good shape. J. • 8. Physical Differences InCathedral, By Raymond Carver In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences. Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing that the main character s connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people. The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object. The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me. My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked. The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to look at the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by his actions: I reached to draw her robe back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What does this mean to the average individual? When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly the same. It is always interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture compares to others. For example, Nigeria (when compared to the United States) is a very different place which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old where the United States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live can make one very successful when they find themselves in a foreign environment. Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in the world. Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130 In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is the poetic voice s current mistress. The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor John Kerrigan concludes: Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with . This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither. The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge stereotype than an actual real life woman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As she spends more time on Bluestone Road, her behaviour becomes increasingly frightening. However, she does not represent a character that is capable of violence in itself: she merely mirrors Sethe s own disjointed internal state: with the loss of Paul D, Sethe becomes progressively more psychologically dependent on Beloved, who she finally recognises as her daughter. Morrison presents Sethe s descent into the overwhelming guilt and madness of her past through the avid use of surrealism and stream of consciousness to display just how fragmented Sethe s psyche becomes. She loses her job because she has the need to reclaim the relationship she never had the chance to develop. This community did not actually come together because no one went to work with van Gogh. However, Vincent s hero Paul Gauguin did visit and work with him. When van Gogh heard of this news, he became excited and optimistic. In preparation for Gauguin s visit, he created a series of bright yellow sunflower paintings. It was his intention to decorate Gauguin s room in the Yellow House which he had rented with the paintings (Sooke; Wiggins). The blue lines separating the different shades of yellow in the painting might be a reference to Gauguin s work as this is similar to a technique he sometimes used (Sooke). In Plato s Symposium, a group of philosophers all get together at a man named Agathon s house and eventually decide to give speeches on love. The men all take turns giving their various speeches on Love, each attacking the idea of Love in a different way. Phaedrus talks about Love s origins and how Love encourages people to be virtuous, Pausanias makes the distinction between Common Love (love of body) and Celestial Love (love of mind), Eryximachus talks about how Love promotes balance, Aristophanes talks about how Love is about people continually searching for their other half (quite literally), but how people can never find this other half, so people will never be whole, and finally Agathon talks about Love s beauty and Love s desire for beauty. When Socrates speaks, he starts off by saying that he will give the truth about Love, which he claims no one else did. He proves this by questioning Agathon s speech, asking how Love can both be beautiful and desire beauty when people do not desire what they already have. Furthermore, Socrates recounts a conversation about Love with Diotima, whose view of Love combines parts of all the other speeches into one truth about love. The Use Of Glycerol Residue ABSTRACT: The use of glycerol residue, a palm oil waste from Oleochemical industries as a raw material for the production of succinic acid with immobilized cell fermentation process was investigated. In this work, the raw material, immobilized cells to produced succinic acid were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope instruments. Based on the results, the functional group appearing for treated and commercial glycerol is the hydroxyl, aromatic methoxyl, alkenes, soap, carbonyl and alcohol group. The hydroxyl group which is O H appeared at a spectra value of 3394.2700 cm 1for the treated glycerol and 3299.9600 cm 1 for the commercial group. Respectively. From the analysis of SEM for bead, it was found that majority of pores fall within range and the shapes was ellipsoid and a thick skin around strains was detectable, therefore indicating that immobilized cell prepared for fermnatation process is an attractive source for succinic acid applications. . Post Colonial Mexico Essay The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio Diaz, Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in classification of the revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions advocated for the overthrow of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or economical revolution. A social revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic aspects of society, encompassing the political structure, economically distribution, and social hierarchy. The countryside and city joined together under the leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a number of revolts and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911, Madero and his men attached the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s federals. Madero and his men continued attacking other cities and they were warned not to get too close to the U.S. border because it might hurt Americans in the process of them fighting within their own country. However, his generals, Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders, and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz agreed to resign and to go into exile. On November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new President of Mexico in almost 30 years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to challenge Diaz, but he did not want to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to which his family belonged. From the moment Pip is introduced until he and Estella walk out of the garden in the final chapter, this book exhibits an uncanny ability to keep the reader wanting more. Although no mention of past events is made, Pip can tell that Estella had been through misery more intense than that which he himself had gone through almost ten years prior. This misery, Pip believes, has enabled Estella to understand the suffering that he had once felt. Through the years, a number of individuals have argued that this is the best way for the novel to conclude. These people tend to believe that this ending is more true to the overall tone of the novel than the revised finale. Great Expectations never exists as a typically happy story. Its plot is marked by constant disappointment and suffering, which would therefore make the application of a happy, romantic ending seem rather unnatural. By the end of the story, Pip has learned a great deal about himself and reached a new level of maturity. He has come to recognize the mistakes that he had made as a young man and is able to appreciate the importance of family. No longer is he consumed by a selfish desire for wealth and social status. Pip s primary motivation for attaining such a gentlemanly status had been his desire to marry Estella. By the end of the novel, however, Pip s character has been redeemed. When they first became popular in Liverpool, England, little did they know they would make such an impact on Britain s fashion scene. The Beatles were able to transform Britain s fashion through their clothing style and their look. The most influential year for the Beatles was 1963 due to their impact on fashion. Background The fashion scene of London in the 1960 s before the emergence of the Beatles was already vibrant and thriving. Time Magazine dubbed London Swinging London , due to its hip feeling . The idea of Swinging London emerged after the post war boom, and the 60 s were a time of change. According to David Gilbert, London [metamorphosed] from a gloomy, grimy post War capital into a bright, shining epicentre of style. Within Swinging London , there was a youth subculture called the Mods , which stemmed from modernist, a term used in the 1950s to describe modern jazz musicians and fans. Being Mod , meant that they were he people of the future , and ahead of their times. The mod s represented one of the everyday youth counter cultures . The emergence of new clothing during the 1960 s drastically affected the style and color of the clothing wore in London, Liverpool and as well as other areas of Britian. Before this fashion revolution, London was a dull area, where everyone wore the same colors, and there was not much variation in clothing style. According to Marissa Klein, In the 1940 s, England had no use for bright fashion. There was no need for bright fashion, because England was at war. This revolution got rid of the Teddy boy look, which consisted of; Edwardian style suits, sideburns and a collarless white t shirt. The other fashionable style was Beat style, and people that wore the style were called Beatniks. Beatniks were people that dressed up like poets and wore all black. Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn t make it aggressive. Aggression is such a broad term and it s not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial aggression, fear motivated aggression, and pain induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called protective aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is when you dog chases up and down the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their own safety. That is known as fear motivated aggression. This often occurs most then a dog is stuck or cornered. Pain induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do that it is to try and help their selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say aggression is random but it s not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. It is also always response to something in the dog s environment whether it is an action of a human or the appearance/attitude of another dog. Cesar Millan says any breed can cause trouble. Persuasive Essay On Music Education Music Education Despite the vast number of children who learn musical instruments, many people still do not fully understand all the benefits of music education. When budget cuts and low funding threaten course elimination, music is often one of the first to go. This should not be the case, however, because learning to play an instrument can build self esteem, increase various social and academic skills and can help them become a well rounded person (Montgomery). Music education is incredibly valuable, especially for children. The benefits that children can gain from learning music will make lasting impacts on them. Playing musical instruments has copious benefits on a child s intellect, and social skills, and personal growth. Learning music has incredible benefits on children s cognitive development and intelligence. Children gain many skills through music, and a child learning about music has to tap into multiple skill sets, often simultaneously (Brown). Learning music substantially helps children grow in other areas of learning. In a study by E. Glenn Schellenberg, six year olds were given voice and piano lessons and their IQ s were compared to six year olds without music lessons. At the end of the experiment, ...the children who were given music lessons over the school year tested on average three IQ points higher than the other groups (Brown). When children are involved in music, they are increasing their intellectual capacity. The ability to play or sing music can help children in math, english, and and problem solving. There have been countless studies and research that show higher test scores and grades in musical students when compared to non musical students. In fact, a research team exploring the link between music and intelligence reported that music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children s abstract reasoning skills, the skills necessary for learning math and science (Shankar Mahadevan Academy).
