The Myth Of The Atlantis
Atlantis , one of the most fascinating enigmas of the past, has never ceased to fascinate and make
the world dream. 2400 years after this myth was built by the Greek philosopher Plato, researchers
revived the ancient legend of this lost paradise myth. The origin of the myth goes back of course to
Platowho describes the Atlantis as a civilization barbaric, greedy luxury and whose decadence
provoked the anger of the gods who, punishment, caused a cataclysm that engulfs the city. But,
researchers and scientists evidence prove that Atlantis is only a myth.

Plato the Myth Maker . He called on the history, mythology and language back to the origin of the
Greek concept of physis and to describe its evolution. Usually translated by nature ( natura from

Ecclesiastes Death Equalizer
Death being the great equalizer has been a popular phrase for a very long time. In Ecclesiastes,
It is explained what death being the great equalizer means. Ecclesiastes 9 1 2 (NLT) reads This,
too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God s hands,
no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone,
whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious.
Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are
treated like people who don t. What these verses are saying is no matter who you are or what you
do, deathis something we all share and it s something we re all going to meet eventually. So there s
a question to be asked, why be righteous and follow God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Continuing with Ecclesiastes 9, it goes on to say one should enjoy their lives and live then to
the fullest because the lives we live in the living world is meaningless. Ecclesiates 9 7 8 (NIV)
reads Whatever they did in their lifetime loving, hating, envying is all long gone. They no longer
play a part in anything here on earth. 7 So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine
with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!?
Although many times in Ecclesiastes it says what we do in life is meaningless, it still
encourages people to be wise and the characteristics of the wise person and the fool are still the
same as they are in Proverbs and other wisdom literature in the Bible. What s different about
Ecclesiastes is it tells you not to be over wise and destroy yourself and it also says the same thing
about wickedness. It tells you to basically stay as neutral as you can and avoid extremes because
falling more into one side than the other will cause your own destruction. It says this in Ecclesiastes

Essay On Sleep Apnea
One of the most common types of sleep disorders that a person may suffer from is sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea is when a person suffers from uncontrolled stops in breathing. People with this
disorder usually stop breathing while asleep. This disorder is caused from blockage in the airway.
When a person is asleep, the airway may become tight because the muscles that keep it open are
relaxed. One form of sleep apneais obstructive sleep apnea. In obstructive sleep apnea, blockage
in the airway may be caused from clotted tissue or fat. Snoring can be caused from any air that
gets through the blockage. When the snoring is stopped and the airway is completely blocked, a
person may stop breathing for about ten to twenty seconds or until the brain recognizes the apnea.

Daytime sleepiness is considered to be the most common symptom that a person with sleep
apnea suffers from. Although a person is not aware of the problem that they have, they are aware
of the symptoms because the sleep that they are getting is not good quality sleep. As a result of
the symptoms they are having, the person with sleep apnea will experience a full day of feeling
tired (Davis w.p.). In order to treat sleep apnea, a sleep test called a polysomnography is performed
on the patient. According to Dr. Vince Berger, This test records the patient s brain waves,
heartbeat, and breathing during an entire night. Treatments are available to patients who are
diagnosed with sleep apnea. Some cases of sleep apnea can be treated by advising the patient to
lose weight and to stop sleeping on his or her back. More extreme cases of sleep apnea may
require the patient to have surgery in order to fix the blockage that prevents a person from
breathing. The most common type of treatment that is recommended is a specialized device called a

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Spanish Civil War
The twentieth century saw more proxy wars than any time in human history; great powers would
flex their martial muscles in smaller theatres of conflict in order to test their own strengths and
weaknesses without risking their international reputation as an aggressive nation. The Spanish Civil
War served as a significant proxy for the totalitarian European powers in the interwar period;
Fascist Italy and Nazi Germanywould support the right wing nationalists while the Soviet Union
and various International Brigades would back the alliance of the Republican government and
Anarcho communist organizations. Spainwould serve as a testing ground for the armed forces of
the European totalitarian states in which major military and ideological support would be given to
the Spanish belligerents. In spite of initial setbacks in the initial military coup, Francisco Franco
would eventually crush the Republican Anarchist opposition and maintain authoritarian control of
Spain for decades. His success was due in large part to the interests of Hitler and Mussolini in
creating a friendly state in the Iberian Peninsula. Through contributions of manpower, military
advisors and materiel from the Nazis and Fascists, Nationalist Spain was able to take advantage of
the less organized and squabbling Republican government forces. La Guerra Civil was the
culmination of a century of turmoil in Spain. The Spanish monarchy would be abolished in 18XX,
with its Savoyard King famously declaring the

In The Woman in the Zoot Suit: Gender, Nationalism, and the Cultural Politics of Memory,
Catherine Ramirez discuses the invisibility of the Chicana women in Chicano movement. For
instance in 500 Years of Chicana Womens History, Elizabeth Sutherland MartГ

example of how important Chicanas were to not only the Chicanomovement, but to the United
StatesMilitary as well. The largest number were in the Women s Army Corps (WAC) (MartГ

nearly dead in Commerce, California on August 2, 1942. Even though his death is still an

suspects in prison by the Los Angeles police department without bail and on murder charges.
Jude Charles W. Fricke sentenced nine of the seventeen defendants of second degree murder, on
January 13, 1943. Those sentenced served time in San Quentin Prison, the rest were charged
with minor offenses and served time in Los Angeles County Jail. What was interesting to me
about Luis Valdez s movie Zoot Suit, is that we see for our eyes how much the Sleepy Lagoon
case broke out the zoot suit riots all around Los Angeles, and near by cities. Similarly to Blood in
Blood out and American Me, after being released from Prison, Henry is shown as having three
different path ways in life, the first is going back to jail, second is joining the Army, and the last
is making a family of his own. Henry is being presented with a fresh start to life, he has chance to
pick his own fate. Similarly Blood in Blood out (1993) focuses on vicious crime that occurs in
Chicano communities. The characters in Blood in Blood out also spent the majority of their time in

The Vaccine Of Autism Connection
The Vaccine to Autism Connection
It is amazing how much Americans trust doctors and more shocking, vaccines. Vaccines are
injections we receive from the moment we are born and throughout our lives that are meant to
keep our bodies from contracting various. A baby born in a hospital today can be given up to six
shots before the mother is even in a place where she can conciously tell the doctor whether she is
okay with that or not. It can take years to become aware of, but the early exposure to the unnatural
substances that make up vaccines can lead to a disorder called autism. While many
Americans view vaccines positively for their adequate ability to prevent illness, the rise of autism
in the nation and its link to vaccines is reason enough to try to change our tactics for trying to stay
healthy.
Autism is a developmental disorder with symptoms including defects in coordination and motor
skills, visual disturbances, and immune suppression. What researchers like Larry Trivieri
Jr. have realized over the last decade is these symptoms are extremely similar to the effects of
mercury poisoning. Mercury makes up 50% of Thimersal, a preservative found in vaccines; The
increases in the occurrence of autism are closely linked to the widespread use of
thimersalcontaining vaccines, says Trivieri. While the possible link between autism and vaccines is
clear, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claim there is no link but have yet to
thoroughly investigate the issue

John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi and William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream
women react to authority in significantly different ways. The authors focus both on women
showing acceptance to power and women who shy away from it.
In the plays, the Duchess and Hermia defy the abuse of power, while Helena and Cariola submit
to it. In John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi, Webster uses the Duchess to signify courage and
Cariola to signify faintheartedness throughout the play. The Duchess has recently lost her husband,

Helena while she begs him to take her back, and they take matters into their own hands and use a

use the magic flower on Lysander causing him to fall in love with Helena; then, the fairies try to
fix their mistake by using the flower on Demetrius to make him fall in love with Helena. This
sturs fights between the men with their love for Helena. Finally, the fairies fix their mistake and
remove Lysander s love for Helena and restore his love for Hermia. In the end, Theseus comes
upon the four lovers in the woods and lifts the burden off of Hermia allowing the lovers to fall be

she defies her brothers and gets married immediately. Shall this move me? If all my royal kindred

Lean On Me By Norman Twain
Lean On Me (Norman Twain Productions, 1989)
The movie Lean on Me was published in 1989. The movie depicts a time period when drug use
/ abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson
New Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the
students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately
African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups
with low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race,
and social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only
touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine
was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of
families that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and
support systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which
included finding the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as:
food, clothing, and shelter. That alone opened the door to negative influences like drugdealing, drug
use, drug abuse, and violence. Many of the students at Eastside HS were more focus on everyday
survival, then the importance of having an education and the growth that it would bring them. The

Introduction
Web applications are nowadays serving as a company s public face to the internet. This has created
the need to identify threats and attacks directed to data servers and web applications. Hackers
exploit vulnerabilities in input validation and authentication affecting the web application in order
to gain illegal access and disclose sensitive data or manipulate it to their benefits.
Common threats to data systems
Data systems such as the web application and data servers are faced by a number of threats, some
of these threats are discussed below:

Denial of Service Attack: The server denial of service attack is the most risky, causing the server
to crash or degrade ungracefully due to the malicious SOAP calls.
Human error: Errors caused by people who get into contact with the web application or data servers
either as operators or users include; accidental deletion of data, destruction of software programs,
configuration or hardware error. Vulnerabilities left by the software developers in software, is
another major error. This can include authentication which can be bypassed, failure to validate input
and output data, incorrect implementation of encryption, escalation of privileges, and failure to
handle errors correctly can be used to attack web application leading to exposure of sensitive data
such as customer s financial data. This can be used to cause fraud to the customer s bank or credit
card.
Malfunction: software malfunction is mostly caused by poor development practices where security
has not been built in the software development life cycle but rather incorporated at a latter phase
when the software is already fully developed. By doing this, most of the vulnerabilities won t be
handled which latter leads to either crash or malfunctioning of the software, whereby the attacker
has an easy time breaking into the system and causing damage or customer s data disclosure.
The greatest area of vulnerability and potential for damage or data loss of web applications and

Expert Eyewitness
Court standards, rules, and regulations should be the same across the United States. This is a
question that can easily be answered, or at least it should be easy to answer. In order to find what
the basis and function of an expert witness are, it is imperative to check the standards of each state.
The legal system has created the expertwitness role. However, the Rules of Evidence which consist
of consulting and testimonial evidence would not exist without the restatement of Federal Rules
701 through 706. This federal rule states that a qualified expert witness may give his/her expert
opinion to help the courts understand some of the evidence, or to recognized a fact in issue.

Employee Paid Case Study
For a company to pay employees equally, it is important to have someone regulate equal pay
more. It has improved throughout the year, but it could be regulated more than it is. It started
with the Equal Pay Act of 1963. You see cases like Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire Rubber Co., Inc.
Ledbetter was paid a lower salary than some of the malemanagers due to her genderand was given
low rankings and lower raises. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 mandates that women and men who do
equal work must receive equal pay (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2013). The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay
Act of 2009 was signed by President Obama and the act states longstanding position that each
paycheck that contains discriminatory compensation is a separate violation regardless of when the
discriminationbegan (Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, n.d.).
The only way anyone should be paid differently that holds the same position is if they are doing
extra work outside of their job description, such as taking on more responsibility when another
employee is out. I do not think this is regulated enough by most companies. To strengthen this
law, I would also add that each Human Resource team within every organization have an annual
audit of all evaluations for each employee. This would insure each gender is paid equally and if
someone was given a lower ranking, they would have to have documentation to back up the reason
for the low ranking. This could be proof of their low performance compared to the rest of the
employees with the same job description. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Character is Called to be a Hero in Charles Portis novel...
Umberto Eco once stated in his essay Why Are They Laughing in Those Cages? The real hero is
always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everyone else. Mattie Ross
does not become a hero just because she wants to become a hero, she has a call. That call creates
a goal she wants to achieve and she becomes the hero of this novel because of this. She will not
have a goal if her call to adventure does not occur. A queststory always contains a hero, a wise old
man, and a guide. In Charles Portis novel True Grit, he demonstrates exactly that. Mattie Ross
comes forth as the hero of his novel. Rooster Cogburn assists her by taking on the role of the wise
old man. LaBoeuf appears in this novel as the guide. Mattie, Rooster and LaBouef all fit into the
roles of these characters in a quest story.
Mattie Ross clearly portrays the hero of a quest novel. To begin, a hero gets a call that leads them
into their journey. The call happens as the basis for the task they wish to achieve. They tend to get
the call which bases their entire adventure, and allows the character to become a hero. Mattie
receives a call for adventure when hearing the news that Tom Chaney killed her father, Frank Ross.
After hearing about her father s death, Mattie will stop at nothing to get revenge on his killer. Not

Michel Rolle Research Paper
Michel Rolle Michel Rolle was born on April 21, 1652, into a struggling family in Ambert,
Basse Auvergne (a province in France at the time). Rolle s father was a lowly shopkeeper and
couldn t support his family by himself. For this reason, Rolle left his educational aspirations
shortly after elementary school and began to help support his family. He began working as a
transcriber for a notary and then worked as an assistant to several attorneys in the district around
his home town. He did this while self educating himself in order to work towards a better life for
himself and his family. Rolle moved to Paris in 1675 and worked as a scribe and arithmetical
expert, which led to Rolle teaching himself higher level mathematics. Rolle wasted no time in
starting a family and ended up getting married and having kids shortly after moving to Paris

was still in dire need for a stable job to support his growing family. Shortly after, he accepted a
job requiring him to tutor François Michel le Tellier s, the French Secretary of State for War,
fourth son. Rolle went above and beyond in this job and resulted in him being offered an
administrative post in the Ministry of War, but Rolle disliked the work and soon resigned. In

The sectional details of the parts are shown in fig 3 in which the machine shaft is supported by
radial and thrust bearings. Radial bearings support the dead load on the shaft, while thrust
bearings support the axial load due to compression of saw dust by screw. One end of the shaft is
connected to the gear drive. In the other end of the shaft screwis inserted. Starting section of screw
placed inside barrel conveys the material into the mould. Mould is made in two sections, first in
which the cross section gradually reduced to the final shape of briquette(called forming mould or

International Adoption In Haiti
The second country researched was Haiti. For several years, particularly during and after the
harsh earthquake in Haiti, adoption agencies such as CCAI take huge roles in supporting
orphans and abandoned children in Haiti through international adoption. According to the recent
Haitian adoption law put into place in November 2013, parents who want to adopt must follow
certain guidelines. Unlike other countries, single women are able to adopt, if they are United States

year old boy with a form of autism named Christopher Boone. It is about his search for order and
stability in his life and how he copes with situations that lack this. At the beginning of the story,
Christopher discovers that his neighbour s dog, named Wellington, has been murdered. He
decides to get to the bottom of this and solve the mystery of Wellington s murderer while writing
a murder mystery novel about it. As he begins to investigate the neighbourhood, Christopher s
dad discovers the book and confiscates it. While looking for his book, Christopher stumbles
upon a box in his fathers closet containing his book as well as 43 letters. They are all from his
mother and addressed to him. The letters are dated after her supposed death and reveal that she is
living with Mr. Shears, the man she had an affair with, in London. Christopher is shocked and his
father confesses that he lied about his mothers death and goes a step further by revealing that he
was the culprit behind Wellington s murder. Christopher leaves his father that night and embarks on
his journey to London to live with his mother. He overcomes many obstacles, but is eventually

The Fight Organized Crime Regime
Since the beginning of the 21st century, organized crime has grown in complexity. With this new
era, law enforcement has been made to change and improve the ways in which they try and fight
organized crime. With the use of technology, the new organized crime regime have used
technology to its advantage and are seen as a very real threat to US law enforcement.
Most members of law enforcement, anti mafia NGOs and academic and journalistic analysts insist
upon the fact that from the mid 1990 s on up, the anti mafia fight dramatically slowed down and
weakened.(Paoli) The consequence of recent law enforcement accomplishments is that Italian mafia
organizations, and particularly Cosa Nostra, are experiencing their most serious crisis since the ...

Due to increase police enforcement, some mafia families are now bankrupt. There has also been a
sizeable increase in mafia members become state s witnesses. This is due to the implementation of
legislation allowing them sanctioning and penitentiary benefits and establishing a state protection
program in 1991. (Paoli) Since many of the most influential criminal families has left, there are
open spaces for an assortment of middle sized and small crime groups that often fight each other for
control of the local territory. The achievements of law enforcement over the past ten years have
been accomplished within a stable legislative and institutional policy framework.
The DIA mission is to ensure the implementation, in a coordinated manner, of intelligence activities
targeting organized crime and to conduct investigations exclusively concerning mafia or mafia
related offences . (Paoli)
The second major legislative innovation of the early 1990s was a true emergency measure, which
was a bill that was finally converted into law in August 1992. The passing of this bill, gave the
DIA and judiciary police added responsibilities that enabled them to search, question and wiretap
suspected criminal activity; introduced new offences for anti mafia trials, and documented as

Economic Globalization And Its Impact On Society
Economic globalization has progressed significantly around the globe. First world republics have
evolved due to economics, while possessing economical supremacy over the poor. Developing
technologies, social interactions and the exchange of ideas knowledge promote the expansion of
economical impacts on societies. With growing competition between nations, the world of
economicsis seen at every corner. Sources of economic globalization, such as market economies,
control every aspect of a consumer s life, including their wants and needs. Production occurring in
industrialized factories determine the needs and survival of consumers. The growing impact
westernization has on demand, heavily influences the day to day consumer and their investments.
Historically, industrial revolution was one of the major factors which drove economic globalization.
From Britain being the first nation to industrialize, countries around the globe began to discern the
economic benefits and opportunities it brought. So, began the era of industrialization and a new
chapter of economies. In roughly early 1900s, Canada began to encounter economic evolution.
Changes in technology and agriculture enabled the productizing of large scale farming and mass
manufacturing, which resulted in new means of transportation like the railway and canals. One of
the most important invention was the steam engine which was used to power transportation such as
railways, ships, and factory machinery. As industrialization

Star Patterns
Stars come in a variety of sizes, luminosities, surface temperatures and masses. Through these
different characteristics, it is found that there is a pattern (with some special cases). This pattern
was first recognized by Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung and American astronomer Henry
Norris Russel during the first decade of the 20th century. They plotted various stars luminosities
on one axis and spectral types on the other. This showed the pattern. These patterns are shown on
graphs and are referred to as Hertzsprung Russel (H R) diagrams. These types of diagrams are
used today still as they are important tools in astronomical research. To plot a staron the H R
diagram, all that is needed is the star s spectral type and its luminosity. On the diagram, the
horizontal axis shows the surface temperatureof the star, which directly corresponds with its spectral
type. Because Hertzsprung and Russel based their diagrams on the spectral sequence OABFGKM
(color and surface temperature), temperature decreases from left to right. The vertical axis shows its
luminosity, in units of the Suns luminosity (Lsun). For example, our Sun, falls right on the point
of 1Lsun and G2 because its luminosity is that of 1 Sun and its spectral type is G2. Typical

The Ballet Of The Italian Renaissance Essay
Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century and later developed into a
concert dance form in France and Russia. Barre is French for bar, and a barre has been used in
ballet training as a support to help with balance while practicing traditional ballet technique.
Modern barre techniques can be traced back to Lotte Berk who, like Joseph Pilates, fled
Germany because of the Nazis. (Lotte Berk fled to the UK in 1938 because she was Jewish, while
Pilates fled to New York City supposedly because the Nazis wanted to recruit him to train the uber
German body).
Lotte Berk developed a fitness regime in the UK that incorporated barre and other dance related
and core strengthening exercises. Her technique was popular in the sixties and seventies in New
York city and other cities around the world. Since then other individuals and companies have
developed barre programs that use a ballet barre and incorporate different fitness concepts. Now
there are many fitness franchises in the US that incorporate the ballet barre.
How is Ellie Herman s Brooklyn Barre different from other Barre Methods?
While many of the current barre methods do exercises that may make your legs and tummy look
good, they ultimately can damage the knee joints and lumbar spine.
Neutral Pelvis v. Flat Back
Like classical Pilates and the Lotte Berk method, many of the current barre franchise regimes place
the pelvis in a poster pelvic tilt instead of a neutral pelvis. Why is this

Ancient Greece had many contributions that were important, but Art and Architecture is the area
the Greeks made the biggest contribution. The first reason that art and architecture is the biggest
contribution is that there were different kinds of pillars in Ancient Greece that are here today.
There were three types of pillars Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian All these pillars were used in Ancient
Greece. Doric pillars were the most simple pillars they were the least decorated pillars of the three.
The Ionic pillars were more detailed and decorated than the Doric pillars. Ionic pillars were also
more thin and tall. The top of the pillars there was decorated and looked like scrolls or curls.
Unlike the Ionic and Doric pillars, Corinthian pillars were Super decorative. These pillars looked a

The Cause For Increasing Fire Activity Is Climate Change
One leading cause for increasing fire activity is climate change. Over the past several hundred
years, average temperatures across the globe have increased. Warming temperatures have
shortened winter and spring by melting snow packs and drying out areas prematurely. They have
also staved off the chilling temperatures of fall. Altogether, summer and the firefighting season is
78 days longer than it was, even in the last several decades. As a result, burnable fuels are
exposed to extreme temperatures for a longer period of time. Prolonged exposure to such
temperatures drives the moisture out of the fuels. Additionally, fuel moisture directly relates to fuel
flammability. With high fuel moistures, fuels like trees and shrubs will have a difficult time being
ignited. Not coincidentally, fires under these conditions tend to be creeping in nature and unable to
rapidly devour land. However, when fuel moistures low, percentages in the teens or single digits,
fire can spread very rapidly and run across the landscape. So, climatechange does directly affect
fire behavior and increasing fire behavior. But, that is not all. Increasing fire behavior and
increasing temperatures due to climate change is a cycle. Warm temperatures enable fuel moistures
decline and fires are able to take off and engulf millions of acres a year in fire. In turn, fires, more
specifically large ones, emit enormous amounts of exhaust. In a study conducted by the United
States Department of Agriculture, the

The Problem Of The Internet
The problem that is ever increasing in size and complexity is the Internet being a danger to people.
The Internet problem is something that is caused by many things like Malware, Spoofing, Viruses
and ransomware. Some of the effects of the problem are loss of finances and personal information.
Another few are victims losing their identity to others and damage to their property. With the
amount of danger the causes make the solution to the problem should be clear and easy to think
and make. Yet sadly the problem with making the solution is people have come up with only small
patches that minimize the damage and lower the chances of being the victimof it but none have
solved the problem in it s entirety. Many of the partial solutions either protect from the problem
by fighting it or by avoiding it altogether. An example of avoiding the danger is by having
programs that have a list of known malicious programs and doesn t let any of those onto the
device. A true solution to this problem would need to either make the problem disappear altogether
or to make the problem not be able to affect people and their devices.
Internet safety has been getting more and more difficult to keep even at the level it is now. This
problem is spreading not just to small businesses, but also to major companies as well with this

What Influenced The American Revolution
Throughout the years of 1750 1914, an age of revolutions broke out, causing a global change in
politics. The Enlightenment Ideals influenced this worldwide change, from the social contract,
separation of power, and natural rights. The social contract influenced the revolutions when all
middle/lower class people wanted equality in their country. Natural rights take place in the
worldwide revolutions because everyone wants to live with life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. Some documents that influence these revolutions are the Declaration of Independence,
U.S. Constitution, and The Saint Domingue Constitution of 1801. Natural rights influenced the
French and Latin American Revolutions because the citizens of these areas were yearning for
change and needed a government that would influence equality, and create a constitution to drop
the hierarchy of citizens, and fabricate a civil, utopian society that the citizens actually would
appreciate a lifestyle that acknowledges political and social freedom. As John Lockestates, The end
of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of

The Black Plague And World Trade Center
Introduction
Historical tragedies have shaped our society, behaviour, and relationships. Historical tragedies
are the reason we are where we are as a community and country today. They completely alter our
thinking and open us up to realizations we had not thought possible. For example, The
Holocaust, The Black Plague, and World War I to name a few. However, This is most evident in
the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that happened in the United States of America. Due to
films being a representation of society itself, this tragedy has unsurprisingly had a profound
impact on the filmmaking industry. This event was the basis for numerous stereotypes, new
political themes, and racial discrimination that we see in films today. Surprisingly, there are not
many films based on this event however, as stated in the chapter, there were still some films made
based on this tragedy. Most notably, Paul Greengrass s United 93 which was released in 2006 and
Oliver Stone s World Trade Centerwhich was interestingly also released in 2006. Due to them
being released at the same time and the fact that these are 2 of the most prominent feature films
based on 9/11 has led scholars, critics, and others to compare and contrast both of them. Eleftheria
seeks to go against the norm and look at similarities between these two films instead of differences
and she wants to read these films next to each other and not against each other. Eleftheria argues
that these two cases offer a more nuanced

Forgiveness In The Sunflower Analysis
Forgiveness There is an abundance of ways that one might interpret forgiveness. Psychologists
might explain it as a conscious decision to pardon the actions of those who ve done wrong.
Religious people might identify it as an attribute that we should all have. Though there are many
ways in which forgiveness is seen, they all conclude that it leads people towards happiness and
peace. In Simon Wiesenthals book The Sunflower, forgivenessis an important concept. Forgiveness
is shown as an important concept to the story as it makes the reader questionthe forgiver s role, the
importance of forgiveness, and the reason people ask for forgiveness. In The Sunflower by Simon
Wiesenthal, he shares his story of when a dying Nazi soldier asked him for forgiveness. After that
incident, Wiesenthal goes on a journey through life trying to figure out if his actions were right in

Going about life with a forgiving attitude tends to make us happier and more at peace. In The
Sunflower, forgiveness is the main and most important concept. Karl asks for forgiveness from
Simon on his actions and Simon goes through the rest of his life pondering whether or not what
he did was right and if he should try and forgive himself for what he did. After talking to Bolek,
Simon states, I became less and less certain as to whether I had acted rightly (Wiesenthal 83). This
statement shows how Simon does not know whether what he did was right and how every person
he talked to about his situation impacted his opinions. Forgiveness is such an important concept
that it makes Wiesenthal ponder about his actions and ask for input from multiple different people.
He felt as if he cannot be at peace until he comes to terms with his actions. This shows that
forgiveness is an extremely important concept in both life and The Sunflower as it can lead us onto
different paths and make us question our views and

Persuasive Essay On Discipline Or Abuse
Discipline or Abuse Some people say that parenting is the most difficult job in the world. Parents
always face difficult choices when it comes to raising their children. Choices like education,
nutrition, and child care are among those choices, but one of the most important choices a parent
must face, is how will they discipline their children. Which method is the most effective to raise
well behaved children, thus well behave adults. By definition, the word discipline means the
practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct
disobedience (oxford dictionary). Parents can implement several methods of discipline, and most
commonly than not, one those methods chosen by parents include corporal punishment, which can
include hitting, smacking, slapping, striking a child with your hand or with an object. The method
used to discipline is completely a parent s choice, but the question remains, is hitting, spanking, or
striking a child in favor of discipline, an effective way to discipline, or is it just a pure act of child
abuse? Any method of discipline a parents chooses will attempt to reach the same goal, to teach
children that there will be consequences for their bad behavior, and that good behavior is expected.
However, by choosing corporal punishment, some experts argue that it has a negative effect on
children that can be carried with them throughout their adulthood. This disciplinary methods alters

Instead, the ENIAC was put to use performing calculations for the hydrogen bomb, weather
predictions, cosmic ray analysis, thermal ignition, random number generation and wind tunnel
design ( Computing 28). The ENIAC was the first multi use computer that inspired thousands to
think of new ways to invent and use these electric behemoths. Operating the ENIAC was no easy
feat either! In order for the ENIAC to run all these tasks, it had to be programmed to do so. Input
was made possible from an IBM card reader, where punched cards would be fed into the reader
and the machine would interpret the data and get to work ( Computering 28). Once that data
entered the ENIAC, there was no interface or software to interact with like today s computers
have, all it had was wiring and switches (Sobel 28). So in order to get answers to many complex
calculations, six operators configured the 18,000 vacuum tubes and 3,000 switches to program the
device so that they may compute the correct answer (Sobel 28). Without these programmers
operating the ENIAC, not a single calculation would have occurred. Also from Eckert and
Mauchly came the first commercially used computer, the Universal Automatic Computer, or the
UNIVAC for short. Invented in 1951, the UNIVAC was still huge when compared to today s
standard for computers. It had 5,000 vacuum tubes and took up about a 25 by 50 ft. room (Betts
20). The key difference between the UNIVAC and the ENIAC is that the UNIVAC was

Essay about Comparison of Maupassant s Short Stories
Comparison of Maupassant s Short Stories A Vendetta is a short story written by Guy de
Maupassant pre 1914. It is set in Bonifacio, Corsica and is about Antoine Saverini who was
savagely murdered and his mother who swore over his dead body that she would seek revenge.
After an argument, Nicolas Ravolati murders Antoine Saverini by stabbing him in the back.
When his mother sees her son s dead body for the first time, brought to her house by passers by,
she sheds no tears however, she swears she will avenge him. The old woman knows that she is
too old and weak to avenge his death herself. One night while Frisky the dog howled she was
suddenly inspired. For three months she trained Frisky to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He crams A Vendetta full of descriptive writing giving the reader a better understanding of
where the story is set and the characters that are in the story. The first two paragraphs only
describe Bonifacio, where A Vendetta is set. Maupassant gives a very negative image to
Bonifacio, describing its ramparts and its bristling reefs . It is a dangerous channel into which
few ships venture . By using dramatic imagery he manages to give the impression that Bonifacio
is a very dangerous and unwelcoming place. I like Maupassant s use of similes especially They
look like the nests of wild birds clinging to the rock looking down on this dangerous channel .
This helps the reader to visualise the pebble dashed cottages literally clinging onto the
mountainside. Throughout the story Maupassant uses imagery in a very dramatic way.
Maupassant makes clever use of personification, The wind harasses the sea remorselessly giving
the impression of a turbulent storm, it is as if the sea has got a life of its own. Maupassant s use
of the word harasses is very powerful and it conjures up an atmosphere of storms, thunder and
lightning, again portraying that Bonifacio is a dangerous place. He describes Saverini s house as
clinging to the very edge of the cliff once again using personification to describe Bonifacio. The
two main characters in A Vendetta are the old woman and Frisky.

My Dream As An Immigrant Essay
I have a dream? No everybody has a dreams! But Reaching a personal dream as an immigrant isn t
easy when many have to face poverty, no education, and judgment from others.
First Poverty, reason why personal dreams aren t easy to reach. When many people, like my
parents, have to start working with their mother and father because it requires every single family
member to support their needs. My parents had no option, but give their hard earned money to
feed their sisters and brothers. On the other hand, like most people, my parents personal dream was
to have children. As a result of poverty, not being able to sleep on a comfortable bed, skipping
meals and working out in hot fields, my mother lost her first child at eighteen years old.
Heartbroken after the loss of my parents first child, they eventually changed their mind to leave
their home land. My parents decided to immigrate to the United States where there are ... Show

As a result of not getting their education my parents had tough time finding jobs they enjoyed.
My parents moved from Columbus Ohio to Madison Nebraska. Beside not finding good jobs my
parents did not learn to speak English. Luckily, in Madison I ve met teachers who taught, care, and
help change my life by their great advices. No education a barrier that stands in their way of their
dreams to find a good job, and continue pushing me to get my education
Last, a personal dream isn t easy to reach when facing judgments from others. I have had my time
where I called my friends stupid and retarded. But I felt irritated when Donald Trump, said that all
Mexicans are rapists and criminals. Because many immigrants like my family have to endure
hateful comments and stares it is hard to keep pushing for a goal. But, I looked past the judgement
from others and kept moving forward. On the contrary, being judged affects people, which causes
them to not reach their own personal

The Emergence Of Gestalt Therapy In The 1940 s
All great therapies start out with one person or group of people who become discontent with the
status quo, and avidly work to prove that what is widely accepted as the only way to accomplish
things, may not at all be what is necessary in all circumstances. In the early 1930 s and 1940 s
psychoanalysis was the rage, anyone in the field of psychology who did not ascribe to this style
of psychology was a deviant, and in all likelihood would be shun from the psychological
community. Additionally, this was a time period globally where many Jews in Europe were
seeking to escape from the hands of Hitler, and the Second World War was being fought. Precisely
from this background comes the birth of Gestalt Therapy. This paper will explore the emergence,...

such internal dialogue exercises like the empty chair technique that aims at getting the individual

act in a way that is contrary to their usual style of behaving, the rehearsal exercise, exaggeration

A Mabel Dodge Speech
Kristina Anthony

Mabel Dodge Speech Good Evening my fellow neighbors. Most of you know me and for the
ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in Buffalo and had what
was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth century. Instead of going to college,
I got married, became a mother and soon, a widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a
Boston architect, Edwin Dodge who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced
him. I became bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy
that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe, had me
become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image poems. I reluctantly joined
Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come back to the United States. I settled in an
apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which most of you have been in for my evenings of
controversial debates. What will women do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you
would think. Women could create lives for themselves, become economically independent and
independent throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. There is a whole
other life outside the house. Yes, some women will have to learn to govern themselves but that is
only because they were never given the chance to in their lives before. I quote Walter Lippmann in,

Measure Success In Relation To An American Society
How do we measure success in relation to an American society? , The answer isn t really
definitive. I would say that the meaning of success varies depending on who you ask. To some,
success can simply mean, being the best at something. To others, success is measured on some
sort of accomplishment (for example: getting honours in school or receiving a promotion).
Everyday, we search through the web and news stations, looking to see who made it and set our
goals to either meet or go farther than them. We praise those who are successful and usually
disregard those who aren t. Our parents always want the best for us; they want us to one day be on
covers of magazines and news articles to show others how great their children are. Some parents

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn By Mark Twain Essay
A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding
changes in America itself. The book, at the center of American geography and consciousness,
asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and freedom, right and wrong, social
responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts those pre civil war days
when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states, disfigured the face of
America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and otherwise, the story
is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the Mississippi in
the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above, which is
the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost
conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of
age of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and
freedom, right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters
that would provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel
offers an excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although
this dialect may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. Although
the final chapters of the book seem rushed and rife with

My Design Of Sighting A Gun
I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into
compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls eye. Sighting in a gun
requires a long trial and error process that any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon.
As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it
descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for
the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is
a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. They support
their products being brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are just a few of the attributes
knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring
hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide selection of the best huntingoptics money can buy while at
the same time pushing the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter
(Nikon). The design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips
/sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit the motor for
the positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of us to discuss and perfect
the idea. II.The scope, Buck Slayer by Slade Mills and Nikon, will be about the same size as any

The Acknowledged of True Love in Marie de France’s lais
The admiration of courtly love is no more prevalent theme in Marie s lais than on Yonec and
Lanval . These two lais are showing very aristocratic views on socially states; love of nobility. A
love that cannot be explained by a commoner or peasant that cannot show status has nothing to
offer, for courtly lovebecause a peasant has no chivalry. This courtly loveis often secret in that a
knight and a lady are not married to one another but to a different partner making the story
adulterous. That secret at the end makes the story ecstatic and tragic; the adhesive of the story is
the passion of love that is displayed making the store ecstatic and the secret is the tragedy that love
cannot be acknowledged. The principal argument of this essay is to understand courtly love in
Marie de Frances lais. To illustrate Marie s view of aristocratic as a point of courtly love in her
lais she demonstrate her view in two different methods in the book Yonec she uses a spiritual
understanding to demonstrate aristocratic; on the contrary Lanval where she explains
aristocratic in the amount of human wealth. For instance, Marie resists in Yonec , that She didn
t know what it was. It flew into the chamber; its feet were banded; it looked like a hawk of five
or six moultings (1344). Marie uses a hawk as unhuman, this is not like a normal commoner but
more than that, he is a noble. She uses a hawk since it is as opposite to any other bird to be
interpreted as a knight for his

Entrepreneurial Education And Entrepreneurship Education
Although it is a given that many research findings demonstrate an overall agreement on
entrepreneurial education and that entrepreneurship can be learned and taught to a certain extent,
agreements around the entrepreneurship education curriculum such as teaching methods,
appropriateness of concepts and educational course content, are not quite in unison amongst
scholars (Robinson and Hayenes 1991; Kuratko 2005; Pittaway and Cope 2007; LiГ±ГЎn et al
2011). Therefore it can be assumed that entrepreneurial education can be a step forward in
impacting young individuals to develop their entrepreneurial intentions and propensity, but the
extent of such curriculum and its impact on nurturing effective entrepreneurs remains uncertain. 2.5

Recognising prior intentions can allow for a better comprehension of the intended behaviour.
Attitudes can motivate behaviours and the force of intentions. Above all, attitudes and intensions
are very much subjected to a person and his/her circumstance. Indeed, the intention of performing
entrepreneurial behaviours can be influenced by social influences (Dubini and Aldrich 2002) as
well as cognitive factors like beliefs, values and needs to name a few (Lee and Wong 2004). Two
intention models: Ajzen s theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and Shapero s model of the
entrepreneurial event (SEE) have profound ability in predicting a person s entrepreneurial
intentions. As entrepreneurship emphasises a thought process of assessing opportunities over
threats, when a person identifies an opportunity, it is justifiably an intentional process, which may
or may not lead to an entrepreneurial behaviour. Ajzen s model (1987; 1991) argues that planned
behaviours such as creating a start up company are completely intentional, and it depends on self
perceptions of social norms, feasibility and attractiveness. Previous research on cognitive factors
and an individual s intention to enter entrepreneurship were found to overlook personality traits and
take them into account when designing curriculums or training classes on entrepreneurship
(Zarafshani and Rajabi 2011). In fact, not much has been done to explore the association between
entrepreneurial intentions and personality traits.

Reflection Paper On Theology
Generally speaking this course led me to contrast the Wesleyan doctrine with specific questions
raised by opposing theological viewpoints. The real world scenarios presented in the weekly
assignments provided valuable context to the application of biblical interpretation to answer
questions concerning details of the hope Jesushas promised. These inquiries ranging from limits of
justification and gifts, to the biblical truth regarding the Church here and in the next life, will
continue to be of great value as I am utilized to make disciples of all people.
To begin, week one s position paper challenged me to dig at the underlying reason many would be
afraid they have committed the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I asserted the root
of the issue is not that one is a believer who is tormented by committing an unforgivable sin; it is
a lack of faith that Christ has forgiven all their sin. The scenario given was not unfamiliar to me
of a person who believes Jesus is Lord, but due to lack of knowledge cannot trust Jesus as their
Lord. Though the initial scenario dealt with salvation, I can apply the same lack of faith being
an issue in any area of my own life. I have recognized that areas of struggle in my own life have
persisted due to a lack of faith in the process, even though I had faith in salvation. Realizing that
until I stand in faith specifically for the situation at hand, many times I will not possess the
breakthrough I have prayed for. I was reminded through this assignment that often the stated issue
is only an effect of a deeper dilemma. The lack of trust situation, as well as the accompanying
scenario regarding spiritual gifts, was caused by Scripture received out of context. The stance as to
why someone would be scared they are beyond God s forgiveness due to blasphemy would be
based on translations of: Mark 3:29, Matthew 12:31, Luke 12:10 not taken in context with the rest
of scripture. I concluded the misunderstanding of the gifts of the Spirit, was a case of cherry
picking scriptures by the subject to substantiate his view point. I found applying Wesley s teachings
of contextual study of Scripture to such a real world situation of great practical value (Oden, 2012,

  • 2. The Myth Of The Atlantis Atlantis , one of the most fascinating enigmas of the past, has never ceased to fascinate and make the world dream. 2400 years after this myth was built by the Greek philosopher Plato, researchers revived the ancient legend of this lost paradise myth. The origin of the myth goes back of course to Platowho describes the Atlantis as a civilization barbaric, greedy luxury and whose decadence provoked the anger of the gods who, punishment, caused a cataclysm that engulfs the city. But, researchers and scientists evidence prove that Atlantis is only a myth. Naddaf, Gerard. The Atlantis Myth: An Introduction to Plato s Later Philosophyof History. Phoenix48.3 (1994): 189 209. Web. 15 July 2015. Gerard Naddaf, is a Canadian researcher and professor of Philosophy in York University, Toronto, specializing in the origin of Presocratic and Plato ancient Greek philosophy. In 1981, he received a diplomat of in depth studies in Philosophy at Paris IV La Sorbonne. In 1986, he earned his Doctorate in Philosophy at the same school. He is currently a member of the Classical Association Of Canada and Canadian Philosophical Association. One of his famous writings is Plato the Myth Maker . He called on the history, mythology and language back to the origin of the Greek concept of physis and to describe its evolution. Usually translated by nature ( natura from the Latin) , the term physis played a key role in the history of philosophy as well as his debut that in its further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ecclesiastes Death Equalizer Death being the great equalizer has been a popular phrase for a very long time. In Ecclesiastes, It is explained what death being the great equalizer means. Ecclesiastes 9 1 2 (NLT) reads This, too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God s hands, no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don t. What these verses are saying is no matter who you are or what you do, deathis something we all share and it s something we re all going to meet eventually. So there s a question to be asked, why be righteous and follow God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Continuing with Ecclesiastes 9, it goes on to say one should enjoy their lives and live then to the fullest because the lives we live in the living world is meaningless. Ecclesiates 9 7 8 (NIV) reads Whatever they did in their lifetime loving, hating, envying is all long gone. They no longer play a part in anything here on earth. 7 So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!? Although many times in Ecclesiastes it says what we do in life is meaningless, it still encourages people to be wise and the characteristics of the wise person and the fool are still the same as they are in Proverbs and other wisdom literature in the Bible. What s different about Ecclesiastes is it tells you not to be over wise and destroy yourself and it also says the same thing about wickedness. It tells you to basically stay as neutral as you can and avoid extremes because falling more into one side than the other will cause your own destruction. It says this in Ecclesiastes 7 ... • 4. Essay On Sleep Apnea One of the most common types of sleep disorders that a person may suffer from is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when a person suffers from uncontrolled stops in breathing. People with this disorder usually stop breathing while asleep. This disorder is caused from blockage in the airway. When a person is asleep, the airway may become tight because the muscles that keep it open are relaxed. One form of sleep apneais obstructive sleep apnea. In obstructive sleep apnea, blockage in the airway may be caused from clotted tissue or fat. Snoring can be caused from any air that gets through the blockage. When the snoring is stopped and the airway is completely blocked, a person may stop breathing for about ten to twenty seconds or until the brain recognizes the apnea. A less common form of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daytime sleepiness is considered to be the most common symptom that a person with sleep apnea suffers from. Although a person is not aware of the problem that they have, they are aware of the symptoms because the sleep that they are getting is not good quality sleep. As a result of the symptoms they are having, the person with sleep apnea will experience a full day of feeling tired (Davis w.p.). In order to treat sleep apnea, a sleep test called a polysomnography is performed on the patient. According to Dr. Vince Berger, This test records the patient s brain waves, heartbeat, and breathing during an entire night. Treatments are available to patients who are diagnosed with sleep apnea. Some cases of sleep apnea can be treated by advising the patient to lose weight and to stop sleeping on his or her back. More extreme cases of sleep apnea may require the patient to have surgery in order to fix the blockage that prevents a person from breathing. The most common type of treatment that is recommended is a specialized device called a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Spanish Civil War The twentieth century saw more proxy wars than any time in human history; great powers would flex their martial muscles in smaller theatres of conflict in order to test their own strengths and weaknesses without risking their international reputation as an aggressive nation. The Spanish Civil War served as a significant proxy for the totalitarian European powers in the interwar period; Fascist Italy and Nazi Germanywould support the right wing nationalists while the Soviet Union and various International Brigades would back the alliance of the Republican government and Anarcho communist organizations. Spainwould serve as a testing ground for the armed forces of the European totalitarian states in which major military and ideological support would be given to the Spanish belligerents. In spite of initial setbacks in the initial military coup, Francisco Franco would eventually crush the Republican Anarchist opposition and maintain authoritarian control of Spain for decades. His success was due in large part to the interests of Hitler and Mussolini in creating a friendly state in the Iberian Peninsula. Through contributions of manpower, military advisors and materiel from the Nazis and Fascists, Nationalist Spain was able to take advantage of the less organized and squabbling Republican government forces. La Guerra Civil was the culmination of a century of turmoil in Spain. The Spanish monarchy would be abolished in 18XX, with its Savoyard King famously declaring the ... In The Woman in the Zoot Suit: Gender, Nationalism, and the Cultural Politics of Memory, Catherine Ramirez discuses the invisibility of the Chicana women in Chicano movement. For instance in 500 Years of Chicana Womens History, Elizabeth Sutherland MartГ nez, gives us an example of how important Chicanas were to not only the Chicanomovement, but to the United StatesMilitary as well. The largest number were in the Women s Army Corps (WAC) (MartГ nez, 81). Even though his death is still an unknown until this day, Seventeen Mexican American youths were arrested and held as suspects in prison by the Los Angeles police department without bail and on murder charges. Jude Charles W. Fricke sentenced nine of the seventeen defendants of second degree murder, on January 13, 1943. Those sentenced served time in San Quentin Prison, the rest were charged with minor offenses and served time in Los Angeles County Jail. What was interesting to me about Luis Valdez s movie Zoot Suit, is that we see for our eyes how much the Sleepy Lagoon case broke out the zoot suit riots all around Los Angeles, and near by cities. Similarly to Blood in Blood out and American Me, after being released from Prison, Henry is shown as having three different path ways in life, the first is going back to jail, second is joining the Army, and the last is making a family of his own. Henry is being presented with a fresh start to life, he has chance to pick his own fate. Similarly Blood in Blood out (1993) focuses on vicious crime that occurs in Chicano communities. The characters in Blood in Blood out also spent the majority of their time in and out of San Quentin Prison, and once being released they too had chance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Vaccine Of Autism Connection The Vaccine to Autism Connection It is amazing how much Americans trust doctors and more shocking, vaccines. Vaccines are injections we receive from the moment we are born and throughout our lives that are meant to keep our bodies from contracting various. A baby born in a hospital today can be given up to six shots before the mother is even in a place where she can conciously tell the doctor whether she is okay with that or not. It can take years to become aware of, but the early exposure to the unnatural substances that make up vaccines can lead to a disorder called autism. While many Americans view vaccines positively for their adequate ability to prevent illness, the rise of autism in the nation and its link to vaccines is reason enough to try to change our tactics for trying to stay healthy. Autism is a developmental disorder with symptoms including defects in coordination and motor skills, visual disturbances, and immune suppression. What researchers like Larry Trivieri Jr. have realized over the last decade is these symptoms are extremely similar to the effects of mercury poisoning. Mercury makes up 50% of Thimersal, a preservative found in vaccines; The increases in the occurrence of autism are closely linked to the widespread use of thimersalcontaining vaccines, says Trivieri. While the possible link between autism and vaccines is clear, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claim there is no link but have yet to thoroughly investigate the issue ... • 10. Lean On Me By Norman Twain Lean On Me (Norman Twain Productions, 1989) The movie Lean on Me was published in 1989. The movie depicts a time period when drug use / abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson New Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups with low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race, and social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of families that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and support systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which included finding the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as: food, clothing, and shelter. That alone opened the door to negative influences like drugdealing, drug use, drug abuse, and violence. Many of the students at Eastside HS were more focus on everyday survival, then the importance of having an education and the growth that it would bring them. The movie ... In order to find what the basis and function of an expert witness are, it is imperative to check the standards of each state. The legal system has created the expertwitness role. However, the Rules of Evidence which consist of consulting and testimonial evidence would not exist without the restatement of Federal Rules 701 through 706. This federal rule states that a qualified expert witness may give his/her expert opinion to help the courts understand some of the evidence, or to recognized a fact in issue. • 14. Employee Paid Case Study For a company to pay employees equally, it is important to have someone regulate equal pay more. It has improved throughout the year, but it could be regulated more than it is. It started with the Equal Pay Act of 1963. You see cases like Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire Rubber Co., Inc. Ledbetter was paid a lower salary than some of the malemanagers due to her genderand was given low rankings and lower raises. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 mandates that women and men who do equal work must receive equal pay (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2013). The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 was signed by President Obama and the act states longstanding position that each paycheck that contains discriminatory compensation is a separate violation regardless of when the discriminationbegan (Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, n.d.). The only way anyone should be paid differently that holds the same position is if they are doing extra work outside of their job description, such as taking on more responsibility when another employee is out. I do not think this is regulated enough by most companies. To strengthen this law, I would also add that each Human Resource team within every organization have an annual audit of all evaluations for each employee. This would insure each gender is paid equally and if someone was given a lower ranking, they would have to have documentation to back up the reason for the low ranking. This could be proof of their low performance compared to the rest of the employees with the same job description. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (n.d.). • 15. Character is Called to be a Hero in Charles Portis novel... Umberto Eco once stated in his essay Why Are They Laughing in Those Cages? The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everyone else. Mattie Ross does not become a hero just because she wants to become a hero, she has a call. That call creates a goal she wants to achieve and she becomes the hero of this novel because of this. She will not have a goal if her call to adventure does not occur. A queststory always contains a hero, a wise old man, and a guide. In Charles Portis novel True Grit, he demonstrates exactly that. Mattie Ross comes forth as the hero of his novel. Rooster Cogburn assists her by taking on the role of the wise old man. LaBoeuf appears in this novel as the guide. Mattie, Rooster and LaBouef all fit into the roles of these characters in a quest story. Mattie Ross clearly portrays the hero of a quest novel. To begin, a hero gets a call that leads them into their journey. The call happens as the basis for the task they wish to achieve. They tend to get the call which bases their entire adventure, and allows the character to become a hero. Mattie receives a call for adventure when hearing the news that Tom Chaney killed her father, Frank Ross. After hearing about her father s death, Mattie will stop at nothing to get revenge on his killer. Through these different characteristics, it is found that there is a pattern (with some special cases). This pattern was first recognized by Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung and American astronomer Henry Norris Russel during the first decade of the 20th century. They plotted various stars luminosities on one axis and spectral types on the other. This showed the pattern. These patterns are shown on graphs and are referred to as Hertzsprung Russel (H R) diagrams. These types of diagrams are used today still as they are important tools in astronomical research. To plot a staron the H R diagram, all that is needed is the star s spectral type and its luminosity. On the diagram, the horizontal axis shows the surface temperatureof the star, which directly corresponds with its spectral type. Because Hertzsprung and Russel based their diagrams on the spectral sequence OABFGKM (color and surface temperature), temperature decreases from left to right. The vertical axis shows its luminosity, in units of the Suns luminosity (Lsun). For example, our Sun, falls right on the point of 1Lsun and G2 because its luminosity is that of 1 Sun and its spectral type is G2. Typical patterns of the H R diagram show... Barre is French for bar, and a barre has been used in ballet training as a support to help with balance while practicing traditional ballet technique. Modern barre techniques can be traced back to Lotte Berk who, like Joseph Pilates, fled Germany because of the Nazis. Lotte Berk developed a fitness regime in the UK that incorporated barre and other dance related and core strengthening exercises. Her technique was popular in the sixties and seventies in New York city and other cities around the world. • 31. The Cause For Increasing Fire Activity Is Climate Change One leading cause for increasing fire activity is climate change. Over the past several hundred years, average temperatures across the globe have increased. Warming temperatures have shortened winter and spring by melting snow packs and drying out areas prematurely. They have also staved off the chilling temperatures of fall. Altogether, summer and the firefighting season is 78 days longer than it was, even in the last several decades. As a result, burnable fuels are exposed to extreme temperatures for a longer period of time. Prolonged exposure to such temperatures drives the moisture out of the fuels. Additionally, fuel moisture directly relates to fuel flammability. With high fuel moistures, fuels like trees and shrubs will have a difficult time being ignited. Not coincidentally, fires under these conditions tend to be creeping in nature and unable to rapidly devour land. However, when fuel moistures low, percentages in the teens or single digits, fire can spread very rapidly and run across the landscape. So, climatechange does directly affect fire behavior and increasing fire behavior. But, that is not all. Increasing fire behavior and increasing temperatures due to climate change is a cycle. Warm temperatures enable fuel moistures decline and fires are able to take off and engulf millions of acres a year in fire. In turn, fires, more specifically large ones, emit enormous amounts of exhaust. In a study conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Enlightenment Ideals influenced this worldwide change, from the social contract, separation of power, and natural rights. The social contract influenced the revolutions when all middle/lower class people wanted equality in their country. Natural rights take place in the worldwide revolutions because everyone wants to live with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Some documents that influence these revolutions are the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and The Saint Domingue Constitution of 1801. Natural rights influenced the French and Latin American Revolutions because the citizens of these areas were yearning for change and needed a government that would influence equality, and create a constitution to drop the hierarchy of citizens, and fabricate a civil, utopian society that the citizens actually would appreciate a lifestyle that acknowledges political and social freedom. As John Lockestates, The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. • 38. The Black Plague And World Trade Center Introduction Historical tragedies have shaped our society, behaviour, and relationships. Historical tragedies are the reason we are where we are as a community and country today. They completely alter our thinking and open us up to realizations we had not thought possible. For example, The Holocaust, The Black Plague, and World War I to name a few. However, This is most evident in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that happened in the United States of America. Due to films being a representation of society itself, this tragedy has unsurprisingly had a profound impact on the filmmaking industry. This event was the basis for numerous stereotypes, new political themes, and racial discrimination that we see in films today. Surprisingly, there are not many films based on this event however, as stated in the chapter, there were still some films made based on this tragedy. Most notably, Paul Greengrass s United 93 which was released in 2006 and Oliver Stone s World Trade Centerwhich was interestingly also released in 2006. Due to them being released at the same time and the fact that these are 2 of the most prominent feature films based on 9/11 has led scholars, critics, and others to compare and contrast both of them. Eleftheria seeks to go against the norm and look at similarities between these two films instead of differences and she wants to read these films next to each other and not against each other. Eleftheria argues that these two cases offer a more nuanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Forgiveness In The Sunflower Analysis Forgiveness There is an abundance of ways that one might interpret forgiveness. Psychologists might explain it as a conscious decision to pardon the actions of those who ve done wrong. Religious people might identify it as an attribute that we should all have. Though there are many ways in which forgiveness is seen, they all conclude that it leads people towards happiness and peace. In Simon Wiesenthals book The Sunflower, forgivenessis an important concept. Forgiveness is shown as an important concept to the story as it makes the reader questionthe forgiver s role, the importance of forgiveness, and the reason people ask for forgiveness. In The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal, he shares his story of when a dying Nazi soldier asked him for forgiveness. After that incident, Wiesenthal goes on a journey through life trying to figure out if his actions were right in not forgiving the soldier.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going about life with a forgiving attitude tends to make us happier and more at peace. In The Sunflower, forgiveness is the main and most important concept. Karl asks for forgiveness from Simon on his actions and Simon goes through the rest of his life pondering whether or not what he did was right and if he should try and forgive himself for what he did. After talking to Bolek, Simon states, I became less and less certain as to whether I had acted rightly (Wiesenthal 83). This statement shows how Simon does not know whether what he did was right and how every person he talked to about his situation impacted his opinions. Forgiveness is such an important concept that it makes Wiesenthal ponder about his actions and ask for input from multiple different people. He felt as if he cannot be at peace until he comes to terms with his actions. This shows that forgiveness is an extremely important concept in both life and The Sunflower as it can lead us onto different paths and make us question our views and ... • 40. Persuasive Essay On Discipline Or Abuse Discipline or Abuse Some people say that parenting is the most difficult job in the world. Parents always face difficult choices when it comes to raising their children. Choices like education, nutrition, and child care are among those choices, but one of the most important choices a parent must face, is how will they discipline their children. Which method is the most effective to raise well behaved children, thus well behave adults. By definition, the word discipline means the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience (oxford dictionary). Parents can implement several methods of discipline, and most commonly than not, one those methods chosen by parents include corporal punishment, which can include hitting, smacking, slapping, striking a child with your hand or with an object. The method used to discipline is completely a parent s choice, but the question remains, is hitting, spanking, or striking a child in favor of discipline, an effective way to discipline, or is it just a pure act of child abuse? Any method of discipline a parents chooses will attempt to reach the same goal, to teach children that there will be consequences for their bad behavior, and that good behavior is expected. However, by choosing corporal punishment, some experts argue that it has a negative effect on children that can be carried with them throughout their adulthood. This disciplinary methods alters the way a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Computers need to be quicker, phones need more features, pictures need more clarity, and calls need to be clearer. No matter what the subject, if technology is involved, someone always desires to reinvent it and make it better. This idea is true when it comes to all forms of technology. We constantly want to improve our devices so they may fulfill our needs with more efficiency. However, where did it all start? The ENIAC was the first multi use computer that inspired thousands to think of new ways to invent and use these electric behemoths. Operating the ENIAC was no easy feat either! In order for the ENIAC to run all these tasks, it had to be programmed to do so. Input was made possible from an IBM card reader, where punched cards would be fed into the reader and the machine would interpret the data and get to work ( Computering 28). Once that data entered the ENIAC, there was no interface or software to interact with like today s computers have, all it had was wiring and switches (Sobel 28). So in order to get answers to many complex calculations, six operators configured the 18,000 vacuum tubes and 3,000 switches to program the device so that they may compute the correct answer (Sobel 28). Without these programmers operating the ENIAC, not a single calculation would have occurred. Also from Eckert and Mauchly came the first commercially used computer, the Universal Automatic Computer, or the UNIVAC for short. Invented in 1951, the UNIVAC was still huge when compared to today s standard for computers. It had 5,000 vacuum tubes and took up about a 25 by 50 ft. room (Betts 20). It is set in Bonifacio, Corsica and is about Antoine Saverini who was savagely murdered and his mother who swore over his dead body that she would seek revenge. After an argument, Nicolas Ravolati murders Antoine Saverini by stabbing him in the back. The first two paragraphs only describe Bonifacio, where A Vendetta is set. Maupassant gives a very negative image to Bonifacio, describing its ramparts and its bristling reefs . It is a dangerous channel into which few ships venture . By using dramatic imagery he manages to give the impression that Bonifacio is a very dangerous and unwelcoming place. I like Maupassant s use of similes especially They look like the nests of wild birds clinging to the rock looking down on this dangerous channel . This helps the reader to visualise the pebble dashed cottages literally clinging onto the mountainside. Throughout the story Maupassant uses imagery in a very dramatic way. Maupassant makes clever use of personification, The wind harasses the sea remorselessly giving the impression of a turbulent storm, it is as if the sea has got a life of its own. Maupassant s use of the word harasses is very powerful and it conjures up an atmosphere of storms, thunder and lightning, again portraying that Bonifacio is a dangerous place. He describes Saverini s house as clinging to the very edge of the cliff once again using personification to describe Bonifacio. The two main characters in A Vendetta are the old woman and Frisky. ... Most of you know me and for the ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in Buffalo and had what was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth century. Instead of going to college, I got married, became a mother and soon, a widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a Boston architect, Edwin Dodge who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced him. I became bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe, had me become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image poems. I reluctantly joined Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come back to the United States. I settled in an apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which most of you have been in for my evenings of controversial debates. What will women do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you would think. Women could create lives for themselves, become economically independent and independent throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. There is a whole other life outside the house. Yes, some women will have to learn to govern themselves but that is only because they were never given the chance to in their lives before. • 47. The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn By Mark Twain Essay A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding changes in America itself. The book, at the center of American geography and consciousness, asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and freedom, right and wrong, social responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts those pre civil war days when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states, disfigured the face of America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and otherwise, the story is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the Mississippi in the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above, which is the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of age of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and freedom, right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters that would provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel offers an excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although this dialect may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. My Design Of Sighting A Gun I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. These two lais are showing very aristocratic views on socially states; love of nobility. A love that cannot be explained by a commoner or peasant that cannot show status has nothing to offer, for courtly lovebecause a peasant has no chivalry. This courtly loveis often secret in that a knight and a lady are not married to one another but to a different partner making the story adulterous. That secret at the end makes the story ecstatic and tragic; the adhesive of the story is the passion of love that is displayed making the store ecstatic and the secret is the tragedy that love cannot be acknowledged. The principal argument of this essay is to understand courtly love in Marie de Frances lais. To illustrate Marie s view of aristocratic as a point of courtly love in her lais she demonstrate her view in two different methods in the book Yonec she uses a spiritual understanding to demonstrate aristocratic; on the contrary Lanval where she explains aristocratic in the amount of human wealth. For instance, Marie resists in Yonec , that She didn t know what it was. It flew into the chamber; its feet were banded; it looked like a hawk of five or six moultings (1344). Entrepreneurial Education And Entrepreneurship Education Although it is a given that many research findings demonstrate an overall agreement on entrepreneurial education and that entrepreneurship can be learned and taught to a certain extent, agreements around the entrepreneurship education curriculum such as teaching methods, appropriateness of concepts and educational course content, are not quite in unison amongst scholars (Robinson and Hayenes 1991; Kuratko 2005; Pittaway and Cope 2007; LiГ±ГЎn et al 2011). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recognising prior intentions can allow for a better comprehension of the intended behaviour. Attitudes can motivate behaviours and the force of intentions. Above all, attitudes and intensions are very much subjected to a person and his/her circumstance. Indeed, the intention of performing entrepreneurial behaviours can be influenced by social influences (Dubini and Aldrich 2002) as well as cognitive factors like beliefs, values and needs to name a few (Lee and Wong 2004). Two intention models: Ajzen s theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and Shapero s model of the entrepreneurial event (SEE) have profound ability in predicting a person s entrepreneurial intentions. As entrepreneurship emphasises a thought process of assessing opportunities over threats, when a person identifies an opportunity, it is justifiably an intentional process, which may or may not lead to an entrepreneurial behaviour. Ajzen s model (1987; 1991) argues that planned behaviours such as creating a start up company are completely intentional, and it depends on self perceptions of social norms, feasibility and attractiveness. Previous research on cognitive factors and an individual s intention to enter entrepreneurship were found to overlook personality traits and take them into account when designing curriculums or training classes on entrepreneurship (Zarafshani and Rajabi 2011). In fact, not much has been done to explore the association between entrepreneurial intentions and personality traits. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Reflection Paper On Theology Generally speaking this course led me to contrast the Wesleyan doctrine with specific questions raised by opposing theological viewpoints. The real world scenarios presented in the weekly assignments provided valuable context to the application of biblical interpretation to answer questions concerning details of the hope Jesushas promised. These inquiries ranging from limits of justification and gifts, to the biblical truth regarding the Church here and in the next life, will continue to be of great value as I am utilized to make disciples of all people. To begin, week one s position paper challenged me to dig at the underlying reason many would be afraid they have committed the unforgivable sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I asserted the root of the issue is not that one is a believer who is tormented by committing an unforgivable sin; it is a lack of faith that Christ has forgiven all their sin. The scenario given was not unfamiliar to me of a person who believes Jesus is Lord, but due to lack of knowledge cannot trust Jesus as their Lord. Though the initial scenario dealt with salvation, I can apply the same lack of faith being an issue in any area of my own life. I have recognized that areas of struggle in my own life have persisted due to a lack of faith in the process, even though I had faith in salvation. Realizing that until I stand in faith specifically for the situation at hand, many times I will not possess the breakthrough I have prayed for. I was reminded through this assignment that often the stated issue is only an effect of a deeper dilemma. The lack of trust situation, as well as the accompanying scenario regarding spiritual gifts, was caused by Scripture received out of context. The stance as to why someone would be scared they are beyond God s forgiveness due to blasphemy would be based on translations of: Mark 3:29, Matthew 12:31, Luke 12:10 not taken in context with the rest of scripture. I concluded the misunderstanding of the gifts of the Spirit, was a case of cherry picking scriptures by the subject to substantiate his view point. I found applying Wesley s teachings of contextual study of Scripture to such a real world situation of great practical value (Oden, 2012, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
