Odysseus Hero Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Odysseus Hero" is no small feat. The topic itself is a vast
terrain, brimming with literary, philosophical, and historical dimensions. Exploring the character
of Odysseus as a hero entails delving into ancient Greek literature, dissecting the nuances of his
personality as depicted in Homer's epic poem, "The Odyssey," and engaging with various
interpretations and analyses put forth by scholars over centuries.
The challenge lies not only in navigating the labyrinth of Odysseus' adventures but also in
unraveling the complex layers of heroism as perceived in different cultural contexts. One must
grapple with questions of heroism versus hubris, the archetype of the epic hero, and the moral
ambiguities inherent in Odysseus' actions.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling essay on this topic demands meticulous research, critical
thinking, and the ability to synthesize disparate sources into a coherent narrative. One must sift
through a plethora of secondary literature, ranging from academic journals to critical essays, to
construct a well-rounded argument that sheds light on Odysseus' heroism from multiple angles.
Moreover, the task is not merely to summarize the adventures of Odysseus but to analyze and
interpret his actions, motivations, and character development throughout the epic. This requires a
deep understanding of the cultural and historical context in which "The Odyssey" was
composed, as well as a keen awareness of the enduring significance of Odysseus as a literary
figure.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Odysseus Hero" demands intellectual rigor,
literary acumen, and a nuanced understanding of the complexities inherent in the concept of
heroism. It is a formidable undertaking that requires careful thought and meticulous research to
do justice to the rich tapestry of themes woven into the character of Odysseus.

The Importance Of Uniqueness In Society
Society should not be sensitive about others opinions on how they look. Everyone
is unique, and ever has a different body type such as; short and thicker, tall and
skinny, brown hair or black hair, blue or brown eyes, whatever the case maybe just
know everyone is beautiful in their own way. The opinions of the media should not
defy or bring everyone down. Imagine humans were all built the same it would be
boring and repetitious. Uniqueness in physical appearance is what makes society so
special as human beings. Society should not compare themselves to the person next
to them. Society should be happy in their own skin and love every flaw an
individual has because in all actuality no one sees those flaws except that individual.
So, advice to any individual out there, love the uniqueness that they have, it will make
an individual feel much better.Approximately 91 percent of women are not happy
with their appearance and turn to dieting to achieve what they consider the ideal body
shape. (Gale Cengage Reading). This study continued to show about 58 percent of
college aged girls feel they need to be a certain weight to be considered attractive.
Remember these key points to an ideal body: Treat your body with respect, give it
enough rest, fuel it with a variety of foods (no crazy diets), and exercise moderately
(National Eating Disorder Association). Doing all those things will make individuals
feel better about themselves regardless of size. Stay away from the pressure to

ABSTRACT
Churn Prediction has been major research problem with the growth of market
development as customers asset more valuable persons for growth of company. The
occurrence of churn customers is one of the crucial problems for the growth of a
company, as it acquires higher costs. The task of churn predictionis to identify the
customers who are pretending to shift from one company to another. As in the
competitive environment, it becomes necessary to focus on retaining churn
customers as well as attracting new customers. Various algorithms of Data Mining
have been used for making distinguish between customers into loyal and churn, so
that appropriate steps can be taken into consideration in order to retain the churn
customers to the company as customers are more valuable to the survival and
development of the company. The proposed Hybrid approach is an integration of two
techniques named J48 and LogitBoost that have feature of PSO (Particle Swarm
Optimization), provides better and accurate results in the prediction of churn
customers. PSO is used to search the best solution with two best values named pbst
and gbst by using iteration with initial velocity and positions. The experiment results
reveal good distinction of churn and loyal customers from the
Beowulf Epic Hero Essay
An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great
achievements or affected by grand events. In the story Beowulf ,the main character
is a prime example of an epic hero. Beowulf being the main character of the story
Beowulf, depicts the characteristics of an epic hero because he is filled with
supernatural abilities such as strength, he values honor, glory, and fame, and he is
courageous and brave.
Throughout the story Beowulf shows many supernatural abilities that help point us
toward the fact that he is an epic hero. Some of these abilities include strength and
endurance. Beowulf has supernatural strength. This can be seen throughout this story
but predominantly in the fight with the monster Grendel. That shepherd of evil,
guardian of crime [Grendel] knew at once that nowhere on earth had he met a man
whose hands were harder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shows his courage in every battle he is in. one place in particular is when
Beowulf is old and he has become king. He hears news of a dragon and with his
boastful heart he takes the challenge to kill him. Even through this boastful nature
he is very courageous in the things he does. He does things alone, he asked his men
to stay behind. Men at arms, remain here on the barrow safe in your armor, to see
which one of us is better in the end at bearing wounds in a deadly fray. This fight is
not yours, nor is it up to any man except me to measure his strength against the
monster or to prove his worth (679). He is courageous and brave in the fact that he
wanted to fight alone. He didn t want to put any of his fellow men in any danger;
he knew he had to do this alone. His men honored his bravery and he lived on far
longer than his death. They extolled his heroic nature and exploits and give thanks
for his greatness: which was the proper thing (833). These acts of bravery can lead
us to the point that Beowulf is in fact an epic
Auditing Case Study Essay
Electronically maintain BMV computer servers are handled by an outside agency
called Indiana Office of Technology (IOT). We currently do not have a contract
with the right to audit and there is significant pressure not to audit other agencies
as it has been indicated outside our jurisdiction. A meeting was held to determine if
any of the process was handled by the BMV which would create internal risk or if
all risks belong to IOT thus are not auditable by the BMV internal audit. It was
determined that all the risks belong to IOT. The primary function of IOT is the set
up servers and provide maintenance to those servers (updates to windows and etc.).
Currently, over 300 servers are provided to the BMV by IOT (many of these are
virtual servers).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The BMV is one of only two state agencies that has IOT staff designated within the
BMV. All other agencies call there help desk and people are dispatched or they
remote access the computer. There was some concern expressed that this
arrangement may cause backlogs in service that would otherwise exist.
Furthermore, it was questioned if some of the responsibility given to IOT really do
not belong to BMV Internal IT department. Examples include upgrading software
(Internet Explorer) on Autotest devices. Another example is that to grant access to
STARS IOT must enter the computer name into a STARS table. Why granting
access to STARS is not completed by Internal IT Security is questionable and
should be reviewed during the maintain employee access to systems. Furthermore,
IT request can go to our internal help desk before being rerouted to IOT helpdesk
which is then rerouted to our internal IOT helpdesk which can result in items being
lost. This process ineffectiveness needs to be reviewed while auditing ITD Help
Desk (Branch Support). All the items require to maintain STARS will be reviewed
during the Maintenance of STARS system. Evaluation of what IOT does versus
internal IT needs to be considered. Some of these items may need to be handled

Persuasive Essay On Sea Otters
Endangered: Sea Otters You may know Sea Otters as just cute and cuddly animals
that float on their backs all the time, but they are definitely more than just that... Did
you know that Sea Otters are a keystone species! They eat sea urchins and
invertebrates, and those sea urchins would just eat up all kelp forests if their
populations were all over the place. You may think that kelp forests aren t that
important, but they are, they support hundreds of speciesfrom sea stars to sharks. Sea
otters also help restore carbon fighting water plants. The Friends of the Sea Otter, is a
foundation that wants to help out all the sea otters in the world and save them. What
they are trying to accomplish is to protect and conserve sea otterpopulations and their
habitats. Their plan is to conserve their habitat through education, research, and
policy decisions, and they believe they will give them long term survival. I think
what we could do is start recycling more and clean up our environment. This issue is
happening mostly on the North Pacific Coastline, because that is where they are
located. Hunters and fisherman kill the Sea Otters for their fur and because they are

we would save them. But at the moment, we would not be able to save them

otters are cute, cuddly, and innocent animals. They help hundreds of underwater
species. They don t deserve to be treated badly when they haven t done anything

them because of how cute they were, but as i researched i learned about all of the
things they do, so i wanted to write about how they have helped us and how they don

Essay on Danny Boyle s Slumdog Millionaire
Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle There seems to be en everlasting conflict
between science, and between faith. Man has always chosen between the two,
giving the world great leaders of science, and great leaders of faith. In Slumdog

destiny versus coincidence. A young man who has made it onto the popular game

When Latika is introduced to Jamal and Salim, the audience is shown an image of
her, standing in the rain, all alone. The use of water in that scene seems to be a
symbolic reawakening of sorts, and in that reawakening, the viewer is shown the
harshness and severeness of these children s situation. There s no pity, or a simple
discarding of their issues. Jamal, Latika, and Salim all have to fight for their lives,
for their freedom, and more importantly to achieve their one true destiny, which in
the end, varies vastly in the final act of the film. Throughout the story, the viewers
are shown an abundance of shots of bare feet. For instance, in the opening scene,
where Jamal is being tortured by the police, the viewer is shown a quick shot of
Jamal s feet, as he dangles helplessly from the ceiling, his arms tied above his head.
Another shot involving characters feet is when Salim is shown stealing shoes for
the first time. The viewer is momentarily shown Salim s feet as they slip into the
pair of sneakers. One last usage of feet is when Salim, now much older, begins to
pray before he goes to commit his hit . When praying in India, many of their
religions involve the removing of shoes, and while they pray, they are known to do
so in bare feet. A barefoot itself is symbolic. It is symbolic of birth, and it is symbolic
of a cleanse. Salim cleanses his soul before he goes to complete his
The Adopt-A-Rock Project
THE GAME OF STONES: KYANITE QUARTZITE

part of the United States. The largest kyanite mine on Earth is hosted at Willis

through this region (Owens and Pasek, 2009). Kyanite quartz deposits are the biggest
and most plentiful of the group of high alumina quartzose deposits in the Southeast

are the deposits of kyanite quartzite at Willis Mountain and Woods Mountain in
Buckingham County, at Leigh and Baker Mountains in Prince Edward County

As well as being an exquisite metamorphic rock, Kyanite Quartzites do have a
particular economic value to the world also (MГјller, et al, 2007). Low

Phillips V. Alvarado Case Summary
On November 21, 1968, plaintiff Nga Li was driving northbound on Alvarado St. in
Los Angeles. She was in the inside lane, and before reaching the Third Street
intersection she stopped to make a left turn across three lanes of Alvarado, intending
to enter a driveway. At this time defendant Robert Phillips, an employee of defendant
Yellow Cab Company, was driving a company owned taxicab southbound on
Alvarado. He passed through the intersection, and collided with the plaintiff s car,
resulting in personal injuries to the plaintiff, and damage to the car.
The trial court, sitting without a jury, found that defendant Phillips was traveling at a
speed that was unsafe under the conditions, and that the traffic light for his lane was
yellow at the time. It also found, however, that plaintiff s left turn across the
southbound lanes of Alvarado constituted an immediate hazard. The trial court held

ISSUE: Should contributory negligence be a complete bar to recovery?
RULING: No. Judgment was reversed.
RATIONALE: The court held that the all or nothing rule of contributory negligence
ought to be superseded by a rule which assesses liability in proportion to fault, since
the doctrine is inequitable for failing to distribute responsibility in a proportional
manner.
The court noted that to date 25 states had eliminated the all or nothing rule of
contributory negligence and had instead enacted general apportionment statutes
calculated to assess liability in proportion to fault. In 1973 these states were joined
by Florida, which reached the same result by judicial decision. [Hoffman v. Jones
(Fla. 1973) 280 So.2d 431.] The court was convinced that logic and justice argued
against the retention of the contributory negligence doctrine, and that it should be
replaced by a system under which liability for negligence is assessed in direct
proportion to respective
Examples Of Film Techniques In Shutter Island
Shutter Island, a psychological thriller, directed by Martin Scorsese incorporates
techniques throughout the film to reveal the truth in Shutter Island. The film is based
on a missing patient investigation, but the truth shows it is a psychological
experiment on Andrew to bring him back to sanity. By analysing certain scenes,
including the opening scene, Teddy and Chuck are addressing Dr Cawley, and whist
Teddy and Chuck are interviewing the patients. These three scenes assist in displaying
Shutter Island through film techniquessuch as camera angle and mise en scene.
The opening scene uses camera angle techniques and symbolism to expose that
Teddy is a prisoner on Shutter Island. A medium shot of Teddy violently throwing
up in the bathroom is followed by a close up shot to observe Teddy at the window
saying, that s a lot of water. The audience can see that Teddy is scared of the water.
Water symbolises the truth and is continuously exposed throughout the film. When
the real facts are shown, the viewer Andrew Laediss is said to not be able to live
with his trauma and guilt hence creating a second personality (Teddy) to escape it. A
medium shot is used as Teddy is seen walking through chains and shackles clanging
together. This gives the audience a prison consistant sense, this is later linked to ...

Mexican American War Manifest Destiny
During the late 1840s the Mexican American War took place. The war started with
the U.S annexation of Republic of Texas and was the result of a dispute over where
the Mexican American border should be. President James K. Polk, who believed the
United States had manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific
Ocean, ordered U.S. troops into an area between the Nueces River and the Rio
Grande, a region that was claimed by both Mexicoand Texas, openly antagonizing
Mexico. The purpose of this paper is to provide a general overview and analysis of
how the Mexican American War contributed to Manifest Destiny. The region of
Texas, which was originally a part of Mexico, declared independence as a nation in
the year 1836. Mexico was primarily a territory of Spain, and the American settlers
sought permission from Spain to develop land within the region of Texas. When
Mexico became independent from Spain, the arrangements were conducted with the
government of Mexico; however, this quickly caused a serious conflict, as the
Americans in the region of Texas began to outnumber the native Mexicans in the
region. When the number of Mexican immigrants increased, the situation escalated
into military conflicts causing the famous Battle of Alamo, which the U.S claimed
victory. Two major figures involved in this conflict included Stephen F. Austin, a
young immigrant from Missouri, and Sam Houston, after whom major cities within
present day Texas are named
Three Times The Trouble In Macbeth
Three Times the Trouble In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the number three is
used numerous amounts of times. In the 17th century, when Shakespeare wrote
Macbeth, there was a lot of superstitious beliefs about the number three. The number
three is believed to be an unlucky number . That s exactly the case in Macbeth, events
following objects associated with the number three are just simply unlucky. The
readers of Macbeth will find out that objects associated with the number three, such
as: three witches, three murders, and three ghostly apparitions eventually cause the
downfall of Macbeth. The three witches appear to Macbeth in act one, bringing
prophecies to him. They exclaim, Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through the fog

Those of which were Duncan, Banquo, and Lady Macduff. Those three murders
are what merely caused the downfall of Macbeth. Why is it necessary for there to
be three of them? This all goes back to the metaphysical beliefs of the time period
in which Shakespeare was writing Macbeth. As a consequence of Duncan s
murder it causes Macbeth to have a guilty conscience. He claims that he has
murdered sleep. In Act 2, Scene 2, right after the murder of King Duncan he cries,
Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep (Shakespeare 330). Banquo s death
caused great disturbance among Macbeth. One of the murders told Macbeth My
lord, his throat is cut; that I did for him (Shakespeare 350). While at a banquet the
ghost of Banquo appears and causes Macbeth to be quite demented. His ghost
represents the guilt that is felt after the murder of Banquo. After the order to kill
Lady Macduff a huge red target is now on Macbeth. This just goes to show how evil
that he has become. The unsteadiness doesn t stop

Food Shortages And Its Effects On Eating Habits Essay
Introduction
In America, we are constantly surrounded by abundance. Food is a prevalent waste
item in the United States. Most people do not think about the resources it took to
produce, transport, and prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not
actually just trash; it is the key to human survival. Ordinary consumers can change
the future with one small action: to stop wasting food. Actions at the individual level
can decrease food waste and feed those in need. Twenty five percent of purchased
food is thrown away. (TED) Often this is because food has spoiled, but it can be for
other reasons such as oversupply, misread labels, or individual consumer shopping
and eating habits. http://www.fao.org/docrep/018/i3347e/i3347e.pdf
Food insecurity can be defined as the inability to acquire an adequate quality or
sufficient quantity of food in socially acceptable ways or the uncertainty that one
will be able to do so. One in six Americans are food insecure. There are five
components of food security, including quantity, quality, suitability, psychological,
and social factors. Food insecurity can occur for a variety of reasons, the main one
being poverty. Decreasing the amount of food wasted has the ability to feed millions
of these Americans.
Food loss refers to a decrease in mass, nutritional value, or quality of food that was
originally intended for human consumption. These losses are caused by shrinkage
from cooking, loss from mold, pests, or inadequate
Primary Characteristics Of A Learning Centered College
Objective Two: Program Redesign
One of the four primary characteristics of a learning centered college is that the
college assesses its effectiveness in relation to student learning (the Learning centered
Center College Camosun College, n.d.). Currently Blue Community College has 12
special programs that aid in the process of ensuring the college is learning centered.
The variations of these programs are beneficial to the needs and interest of all
students. It is important to identify and assess if these programs are current and
relevant to the average student. Through my consultation, I have identified that in
order for the college to adopt the characteristics needed to become learning centered,
the primary focus has to be assessing student learning. Learning outcome assessments
will provide Blue Community College with accountability and transparency to ensure
that the institution is providing all measures to guarantee student success. The
assessments can also provide insight into the opportunities and challenges that are
unique to each student and identify the relevancy of these programs. Blue
Community College currently utilizes a program map for its students called a
Student Plan. The student plan allows students to select their own course schedule;
however, it provides an outline of the course sequence. It is imperative to ensure that
the needs of the students are considered when creating an educational map. A through
Imperialism, Nationalism, And Racism
Although relationships between imperialism, nationalism, and racism have
contributed to changes in racism in both Europe and North America from the 1750s
to present day, there are several areas in which they have stayed the same.
Early in the 1750s, relationships between imperialism, nationalism, and racism were
poised for rapid future change. Initially, the only reason why Europeans bothered
with Africa was for trade purposes, which is what the few European colonies in
Africa were for: ports and trading posts. The main reason why Europe traded in
Africa was for slaves and natural resources. Europeans as the first to industrialize
and the first to colonize in far areas of the world, considered themselves superior to
other races, but didn t quite act on it. Nationalistic movements hadn t started to
really begin, but Europeans felt particular fondness for their countries, as to be
expected. Jews and blacks were generally disliked and considered inferior. This
dislike had been going on for quite some time, especially with Jews, who had been
the scapegoat for many various disasters, especially much earlier than the 1750s.
Blacks were considered inferior because they were still in slavery. Early in the 1750s,
North America was still under European control, and Euro Americans hadn t
necessarily begun any imperialistic moves of their own (but a spark of North
American nationalism later broke North America from European control and formed
the United States of America). As for North
Astrology Signs
The astrology signs go in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo,
Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. You ve probably heard
about fire signs, earth signs, air signs, and water signs. These are the four
elements. Twelve signs divided by four elements equals 3 signs per element. If you
start with Aries as the first fire sign, then just skip to every 4th sign, you ll see that
the fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagitarrius. Taurus is the first earth sign, then Virgo
and Capricorn. Gemini is the first air sign, then Libra and Aquarius. Cancer is the
first water sign, then Scorpio and Pisces.
So what does a fire sign mean? These signs tend to burn hard and fast. They start
strong and then can flame out just as quickly as they began. Do you know a person
with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius Sun? Then you may notice that these people are a
little more intensely emotional, whether that be in happiness or anger. They may
likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take action quickly
and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person

The Jesuits and Marianist have many similarities and differences among their
communities. In the Marianist community they too are very much involved in

the Jesuits are focused on diversity, so are the Marinist. The Marianist community
consisted of Priest and Brothers which eventually spread to the Sisters, while the
Jesuits are mainly made up of just Priests and Brothers. The mission of the
Marianist is to seek the gospel through service and the lives of others. With the
guidance of Mary, the Marianist work together to find faith to help serve others for
their dignity, liberation, and justice. The Marianist look at Mary as a model of faith
and guidance to help carry out God s plan to serve others. Mary is their model of
faith, just as Jesus is the Jesuits model of faith. Marianist put the presence of Jesus
among not only themselves but for others. Both Jesuits and Marianists value living,
praying, and supporting the community which strengthens the world, mainly those in
poverty. The Marianists has a similar mission statement to the Jesuits as they both
live in a community as equals. The difference between each of the mission statements
are that the Marianists minister with the youth and solidarity of the poor. Both
religious orders contribute to today s society by making Cleveland a better place

When Looking At A Primary Source, The Analyzer Must
Take
When looking at a primary source, the analyzer must take into consideration several
components that can help him or her narrow down their inferences about the source.
The first thing to analyze in depth is the Authorship. This means to look specifically
at the topics addressed and the natural biases that are relevant in the work. The tone in
the subject matteris also important to see how strongly the source may show content
or resent towards a specific topic. Even certain writing styles can help decipher an
era, culture or even an individual. The specific word syntax leads to how an
analyzer would discover the purpose or rationale for the primary source. Purpose and
rationale are huge parts of understanding a source and the time period... Show more

Obviously looking at this, the topic is based around religion or its roots are based in
religion. Naturally there is a desire to find out which religion. Now previously there
are references to God and Christ, so the author must be some denomination of
Catholicism but in the fourth article the author says rights should be exercised in a
Christian and brotherly fashion . The author is very religious and now there is
clear evidence that he is a Christian. This along with all of the authors religious
vocabulary helps define the author as a very religious human. The author uses the
nature of religion to mediate the issue at hand. The issue is not religion because in
the third article the author exclaims Christ has delivered and redeemed us all .
Although religion is strongly talked about it is not the dissenting issue because the
author sees that who the author is dissenting from is still the son of the same God.
The issue lies in a power struggle, mainly an economic one. In the same article the
author says it is consistent with Scripture that we should be free and wish to be so.
Not that we would wish to be absolutely free and under no authority . The Author is
using religion to back the ideology of freedom. The Author clearly is talking about
authority overstepping its boundaries. The author constantly uses the term poor man
and when to referring to the poor man the author uses words such

Congress, and their supporters, the patriots, they were not submissive to the Britain
tyrannical reigning. However, there are many online article, books, and credible
websites that support the idea of America remaining with the British for commercial
and military purposes. But the delegates in the Second Continental Congress, for
example, John Dickson, George read, and many other colony representatives, gained
an opening in seceding from the British Crown. Since the American RevolutionWar
already began before the Second Continental Congress met, delegates wanted to raise
a stronger army and weapon to counter the Crown forces. Additionally, an English...

These arrangements from the Crown evoked in American political pundits and the
American people into calling for separation, made the colonies aggravated and
invigorated into revolting against the Crown. One example of the British ruler
harsh engagements was from King George the Third who fired artillery at the one
of the colonies which was Boston and its people because of the many political
activist groups who refuse to abide into paying direct taxes for British tea, and some
members of the Son of Liberty invoking threats towards British officials input in the
colonies for tax collecting. Overall, there are many advantages for the colonies to
fight for individuality, in many aspects colonies who separate from the Britain have
many upcoming reimbursements and advantage by leaving British control. America s
autonomy has many issues, but one of the problems has been solved by colonist that
Britain cloud not solve very well like religious toleration and separation from church
and state. In the mid 1600 century, Europe was subjugated by Christian principles.
The colonies, mainly people in Massachusetts, were refugees escaping Britain s
persecution, which were the Puritan. The Puritans and their government system
believe that the religion and political area should be separated. However, as time
went on, it was clear that Puritans did not distinct civil
Frank s Immigration Narrative
On April 3rd, 2017, I called my neighbor, Frank, to talk about the story of his
family s immigration. Frank had ancestors who moved to the United States from
Germany more than 100 years ago that kept a journal that has been with his family
ever since it was recorded. He told me that a long time ago, George and Jean, both
residents of Germany, fell in love and got married to each other. After spending some
time together in Germany, they decided that they were going to immigrate to the
United States. Living in the United States to them meant all that freedom implied. A
land where they found a home where they could raise their children in a land of the
free and the brave.

Money was always scarce. They had to consider each decision they made with
their money. When the family was moving to another farm, they had to cross the
Mississippi River. There was a toll bridge that needed to be crossed in order to get
to the other side, but George did not want to cross the bridge because that would
mean that they would have to give up some of their money. So, instead of paying
to cross the toll bridge, the family decided to cross over the ice. The day after they
had crossed the ice, there was another group of people who crossed it but the ice
had broken and resulted in all of the people to drown. George s family found out
about this quite a bit later because it took a long time for new to get spread
Homework Is Learning Assignments Practiced Or
Completed...
Homework Homework is learning assignments practiced or completed outside of
school hours. The majority of schools in the United States homework is assigned to
students as work to be completed at home, outside of the classroom, and returned to
the teacher for credit.
However, only about 35% of school districts have an actual homework policy set in
place
(Roderique, Polloway, Cumblad, Epstein, Bursuck, 1994, p. 483). Without a
homework policy teachers are left on their own to determine how to meet the
homework needs of their students. This leads to inconsistent expectations for both
families and students from year to year. Clear classroom, school and district
homework policies provide the student with healthy long term learning habits. Three
aspects of homework that entail costs and or produce benefits for home and school
contexts are time, homework design, and family involvement (Van Voorhis, 2011).
Time
After school schedules of students vary greatly. Many students are involved in sports
and other activities, making lengthy homework assignments challenging. Clear
expectations and directions for homework will help students and families build a
homework habit that is easy to follow and convenient to return. Many schools have
adopted the 10 minute rule as a general guide for developmentally appropriate time
on homework; for example, students in the elementary and middle grades should be
assigned roughly 10 minutes multiplied by the grade level (i.e., 30 minutes for a

Financial Analysis of Hershey and Tootsie Roll
Introduction
Tootsie Roll and Hershey are two similar companies with a similar product offering,
but they operate on entirely different scales. In an effort to determine the better
investment of the two companies we will utilize multiple financial analysis ratios to
gauge the health of the respective companies in terms of liquidity (the ability to pay
short term liabilities and respond to opportunities), solvency (the long term viability
of the company) and profitability (the efficiency at which the can turn it s resources
into profits). However, the snapshot picture of ... Show more content on

(Harrison Jr., Horngen, Tomas, 2013) Even though the cost of goods sold consumes
$0.52 of each sale, The Hershey Company managed to generate a profit of $0.48 for
each dollar of sales.
Profit Margin Ratio
The profit margin ratio demonstrates the ability of a company to increase the
percentage of net income earned for every dollar of sales. For example: this ratio
shows the percentage of each sales dollar earned as net income . (Harrison Jr.,
Horngen, Tomas, 2013) The Hershey Company was able to increase the profit
margin ratio from 10 percent in 2012 to 11 percent in 2013. The increase in profit
margin from the previous year 2012 shows that the performance of the company is
increasing which means that revenue is increasing or expenses are decreasing.
Furthermore, The Hershey Company is managing their performance efficiently and
this is directly reflected in profit margin ratio.
Return on Assets
The return on assets (ROA) ratio helps measure how profitable a company is in
relation to its total assets. In the case of Tootsie Roll, the company had an ROA of
.06 in 2012 and an ROA of .07 in 2013. This is an increase of close to 16.7 percent
year over year. Hershey, on the other hand had an ROA of .14 in 2012 and .16 in
2013. Hershey s rising ROA is comparable at 14.3 percent. With change 16.7 percent
and 14.3 percent being so similar, we favor Hershey s ROA at the higher rate of .16
in 2013 as opposed to Tootsie

Consumer Market (audience)
Direct and potential target audience (Demographics; psychographics; Geographic)
Lipton ice tea is targeting people who like having fun and enjoy sitting with friends
and sharing lovely moments together. It s actually targeting everyone who likes tea
and curious to try different flavors. Lipton always concentrates on the details and the
flavors to deliver the feel of freshness and power at the same time.
Demographics:
1 Men and women between the age of 18 and 28 .
2 No matter where they live or in which country they were born.
Psychographics:
It is affordable for medium and high classes, although it is considered inexpensive in
some regions and countries.

Unlike Nestea, Snapple has an edge of offering a wide variety of flavors and
initially, it did come up as a strong competitor for Lipton. However, the relatively
smaller size of Snapple and its failure to position itself properly in the market resulted
in the loss of major market share to Lipton. Although the weaknesses of its
competitors have always kept Lipton ahead of them, however, the threat is always
there and in order to maintain its position in the market, Lipton has to ensure constant
innovation and improvement of its product.
2 Competitors Strategy:
They are all active on social media such as Facebook, twitter and Instagram. They
all have accounts or pages but I have noticed that Lipton ice tea do not have a fast
search engine like Pepsi and Coca cola. Thus, when the costumers search for websites
or contacts of Pepsi or Coke, they immediately find the information and results.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Research Paper
Gastroesophageal reflux What is Gastroesophageal reflux? Gastroesophageal reflux is
a medical condition characterized by reflux of acidic juices into the esophagus,
resulting in symptoms of regurgitation (sour taste in mouth) and reflux (burning in
the chest). This is an extremely common condition in the United States. Factors such
as obesity, alcohol use, tobacco use, certain medications, and various diets and
lifestyle decisions increase your risk of developing gastroesophageal reflux. Long
term disease can lead to a precancerous condition called Barrett esophagus. Other
serious complications include esophageal adhesions, constrictions, and cancer. Some
patients may ultimately develop difficulty swallowing and weight loss which may...

How common is gastroesophageal reflux? What are the symptoms and signs of
gastroesophageal reflux? How is gastroesophageal reflux diagnosed? How is
gastroesophageal reflux treated? What causes Gastroesophageal reflux?
Gastroesophageal reflux is caused by the reflux of acidic juices from the stomach
into the esophagus. This results in irritation of the esophageal lining leading to chest
burning and discomfort. Acid can also reach the throat resulting in the sensation of a
sour taste in the mouth (regurgitation). Symptoms often occur after meals and may
be associated other features of dyspepsia such as bloating and mild abdominal
discomfort. Long term inflammation in the lower esophagus can lead to cellular
changes that are precancerous if the problem is not corrected or reversed Barrett
esophagus. Eventually chronic irritation can lead to adenocarcinoma of the lower
esophagus. Conditions that lead to acid reflux generally occur as a result of abnormal
anatomic or pathophysiologic processes. Often times it is causes by increased
intraabdominal pressure, which facilitates acid backflow from the stomach to the
esophagus. Some of these can include: Obesity Pregnancy Abdominal
How Did Cyrus Followed His Religion
As the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, Cyrus first priority was to gain power
over the Mediterranean coast and secure Asia Minor. Many kingdoms including
Babylon, Egypt and other kingdoms joined together trying to stop Cyrus from
taking over their kingdoms. In many cities to the east of what he already was king
of, he built forts in these cities to help protect the kingdom area that he just took
over and did not want to loose by someone else who wants to conquer it. The
conquest that Cyrus had to the east is not really known to people, that extended
close to modern day Pakistan. After all of his conquests in the east he turned his
attention to the west and to Babylon. It is said that Cyrus overtook Babylon
without spilling any drop of blood, only a few days after of the king of Babylon
had died Cyrus entered into the city of Babylon. Cyrus religion is pretty much not
known, but Xenophon reports that Cyrus followed the guidance of the Magians at
his court. This thought though about Cyrus is not universally agreed upon, some
believe that Cyrus followed the religion of his people more than the religions of
other people. There were many altars and other things in his main city that some
people believe show that he followed the religion of his people but still respected the
religions of other people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Development Of Domino Cmos Technology For The Design

Abstract This Paper includes the development of domino CMOS technology for
the design of XOR gate. Low power dissipation is one of the main design
considerations for high level performance circuits. The leakage power dissipation is
controlled by the factor gate oxide leakage and threshold leakage and thus the overall
leakage of domino XOR circuits. To show the efficiency of the proposed model, a

The third source of power dissipation is leakage power dissipation. In the
MOSFET, the leakage current comprised of six short channel mechanisms.
Reverse bias PN junction leakage, sub threshold leakage, gate oxide leakage, gate

are reversed biased PN junction current and sub threshold current . Dynamic power
P=CLV2DDfc Leakage power Pleakage=VDDllarge Lowering the supply voltage is
the most effective way to achieve low power performance VDD is directly
proportional to the leakage power. If the supply voltage reduced and keeping the
constant threshold voltage at its original value results in drastic degrading in
speed because as the supply voltage is reduced the gate drive voltage (VDD VT)
reduces and thus the delay increases since propagation delay in a CMOS.To
overcome the delay degradation threshold voltage (VT) is to be reduced. Reduction
in threshold voltage causes an exponential increase in sub threshold leakage current.
As one continues to scale down supply voltage and threshold voltage . In this paper,
a low leakage domino XOR circuit is proposed. Proposed circuit employed mixed N

Same Sex Marriage: The Problems with DOMA and the Pursuit for Equality
Believe it or not, same sex marriage has been around since ancient times. At least two
Roman Emperors, Nero and Elagabalus, were in gay unions. It wasn t until the
advent of Christianity that the practice of same sex marriage was out lawed by the
emperors Constantius II and Constans in 342 AD and has continued to be through out
most of the world until the twenty first century (Boswell 83). With the advent of gay
rights movement in many industrialized countries, same sex marriage has become
more accepted. A prime example of this is what lawmakers in the state of New York

The events leading up to the Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln
There are men who want to take my life. And I have no doubt they will do it. . . If it
is to be done, it is impossible to prevent it. This quote can closely be related to
Abraham Lincoln and his assassination. This shows that President Lincoln was
committed to his beliefs and traditions. When Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, it
was because his killer was an anti abolitionist, and he did not agree with Lincoln s
ways. He was a strong and intellectual way and was often frowned upon for his
thinking. He died for what he believed in and he did not want it any other way.

When none of his attempts were successful, he set a new plan, one not quite like the
others, this one an assassination. According to Booth s former friend Louis
Weichmann, Booth set out this plan after hearing Lincoln deliver a speech about
Negro Suffrage.
Abraham Lincoln s death was a horrible situation. About ten days before his
assassination he had a premonition of his death while he was sleeping. In his dream
he heard strong sobs coming from somewhere in the White House. He was walking
from room to room without seeing anyone. Eventually he came upon the East
Room, and he entered. He saw a coffin with soldiers around it, acting as guards. He
remembers asking Who is dead in the White House? and the soldier replied with The
President, he was killed by assassin! He recalled a woman shrieking and then the next
thing he knew, he was awake. This is one of the most investigated situations
surrounding President Abraham Lincoln s assassination because no one understands
how such a thing could have happened.
On April 14th, 1865 the President and the First Lady decided to go to a showing of
Our American Cousin, at Ford s Theatre. A policeman was positioned outside of the
balcony door that evening. It is said that he left the theatre during intermission and
went to the saloon next door for a drink, leaving Lincoln exposed. Just then, at 10:15
p.m., Booth slipped into the box and shot President Lincoln in the back of the head,
Lab Report On Insulin
Introduction
Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by the ОІ cells of the pancreas. It is secreted in
response to glucose and secretion occurs in a biphasic pattern. Insulin testing is
commonly indicated in the investigation of insulinomas, hypoglycaemia, diabetes,
polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as a number of other conditions. The analysis of
insulin is often restricted by strict pre analytical recommendations.
The Chemical Pathology Laboratory at Groote Schuur Hospital Laboratory receives
blood samples from a number of external hospitals and laboratories for insulin
analysis. Not all samples can be analysed immediately and some may not even be

Civil Rights in Colored People by Henry Louis Gates
Henry Louis Gates admiration and following of great civil rights movement leaders,
including his mother, seems to show that he has an optimistic position on history and
social change in his book Colored People . Throughout the beginning chapters he is
shown growing up noticing the contract between his mother s view and the rest of the
Colemans. She would stand up to white people. He admired her spark and vitality,
whished to grow up in a world where he can see his mother treated with the respect
she deserves. Freedom from the chains of segregation was his goal, most notably
his adventures during his college years. He was dating a white girl and was also
going to extreme lengths to make sure Piedmont becomes unsegregated. Growing up
he sees the flame within his mother diminishing. This occurrence doesn t phase his
determination, the contrary; he decides to resurrect his mother s passion. He
attempts that by helping his father buy her a house, since she always wanted to own
property. He seems to also believe that the arc of history curves, no matter how many
curves it takes it, towards justice. He at least did throughout his adolescence years.
However, in the big scheme of history, it seems that his view is not as one
dimensional as readers would expect. Gate s book reveals to us how history can be
ironic in the form of a shocking change of tone in the concluding chapters. He doesn t
imply that history is approaching its doom because of our actions, it is simply pointing
Tone Of Howl By Allen Ginsberg
Allen Ginsberg in his work, Howl tries to present a social commentary and a
revolution. Allen presents the struggle of the time when social pressures were
quickly building up, and a revolution was necessary which would free people from
all forms of oppression. Allen presents his experiences which is an encounter with
his friend whom he met in a mental institution. Allen uses several literary
techniques to present the insanities in life and how people continue to struggle
with it in life which ends up in tragedies and cries. Throughout the poem, Allen
uses an elegiac tone which is a tone of mourning. From the very first line, the
reader is prepared for what will follow in the subsequent lines and stanzas. In the
first line, Allen says he is outraged, and that is why is crying out to the world to
stop the destruction of a generation. In general, Allen is crying about the
oppression and subjugation in the society. The speaker in the poem appears to be
smart. The speaker s words do not come out in a proper order which makes the
reader imagine that he was from a long sleep and he has been awakened by the
reality of things and he wants us to join him through his lane and tell us what he
saw. The speaker does not use proper English, and there is a lot of syntax in the
verses which help the reader in understanding that the person speaking is drugged or
has some mental illness. For Allen, he embodies the mental illness of his friend he is
dedicating the poem too in a mental
Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own
Existence
According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein.
Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with,
as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our
being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of
Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More
specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things,
and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply
experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People
would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings
behind their existence.
Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are
constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original
selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the
nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it
back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are
constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something
that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the
want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care
because one of its purposes is
White Noise Delillo
In the book, White Noise by Don DeLillo, Jack Gladney is a small town college
professor of Hitler Studies at the College on the Hill. Throughout the book, Jack
obsesses over the fear of death that makes him contemplate his life and the elements
that come with it. The element that he continues to question is technology.
Technology is a large aspect of humans and how we function. DeLillo shows his
audience how technology is a major element in this book. The author highlights this
when Jack is told by the computer that the airborne toxin has infected his
bloodstream. Also, the daughters of Jack and Babette feel the symptoms of the
airborne toxin consecutively after the radio informs them of the effects the aura of
authority has towards technology.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Airborne Toxic Eventcaused by the train detachment enabled the toxic chemical,
Nyodene Derivative, to spread into the atmosphere. Scientists perform tests on this
chemical with new technology, but can never completely tell what the symptoms are
if exposed to the chemical. This initiated such a problem and it elicits the fear of how
new technology, in a catastrophic event like this, could potentially go horribly
wrong. The fear of these new technology advancements are seen in all the
characters, but specifically Babette and Jack. Babette states, I feel they re working
on the superstitious part of my nature. Every advance is worse than the one before
because it makes me more scared . Jack says, The greater the scientific advance, the
more primitive the fear (DeLillo 161). Jack and Babette strongly show how they are
feeling about technology and DeLillo shows his audience how mistrust of technology
is a problem. Also, another example of mistrust is when Jack is checked for radiation
of the chemical in his bloodstream. Jack questions the simulated evacuation
technician and the technology he is using. What about the computers? Is that real
data you re running through the system or is it just practice stuff (DeLillo 139). The
SIMUVAC technician tests Jack by plugging details into a computer that tell him that
his death is imminent. Jack trusts what the computer says, rather than trusting
himself, and Jack becomes completely dependent on the computer. DeLillo
demonstrates how mistrust is being used by Jack and compares it to society and
how technology has become so mistrusted and depended on. After Jack is told by
the computer he is going to die, DeLillo continues to emphasize the trust issues. I
think I felt as I would if a doctor had held a
Ancient Mesopotamia Geography
The geographical location was an important factor in many of the ancient
civilizations. Where the people settled determined whether they would have success
at surviving. Both Mesopotamia and Egypt were ancient civilizations founded in
roughly the same longitude and latitude area of the world. Hot dry areas full of
dessert. What drew early civilizations to settle on these locations was the same for
both places, land near water that was good for planting. What is different about each
location is what makes these two early civilizations vastly different yet extremely
important to our world today, the natural resources and the way the early settlers
utilized them. Both Mesopotamiaand Egypt were founded near large rivers. To be a

Egypt also had Oasis s, where natural water can be found in the middle of the
desert. Some settlers settled around the Oasis because of the fresh supply of water.
The nomadic travelers moved their herds of animals through the desert did so
from Oasis to Oasis. Another key geographical feature of Egypt is the Sinai
Peninsula which is in the northernmost portion of Egypt that it connects that main
area to the Red Sea. The ancient Egyptians referred to the fertile area along the
Nile river bank as the black land and the desert as the red land. Egypt has flooding
from the Nile that brings the silt which is black to the riverbanks making the land
extremely fertile and very easy to plant in. This afforded Egyptians the opportunity
to plant many farms with crops as well as provide the necessary nutrients to have
farms with animals. What is a major difference between the Egyptian and
Mesopotamia civilizations is the difference in the natural resources. Mesopotamia
had a limited resources, Egypt had best amounts of resources, such as minerals,
limestone, gold and other very valuable precious metals and stones. These resources
the provided the Egyptian people with many things to trade and it helped set the
course for the type of life that the Egyptian lived. Mesopotamia peoples had to make
do with what the land provided. These abundant Egyptian

The Culture Of The Thule Culture
The Netsilik are an indigenous community that are descendants of the Thule culture,
they reside North of Hudson Bay, just above the Arctic circle. They call themselves
the Netsilik or people of the seal because of their unusual diet (Young, 1970). In his
video Young states that, The winter months for the Netsilik people starts in
September and last right up until June, during these months the temperatures can
range anywhere from 30 50 degrees below 0 (1970). During the 2 3 months of
warmer weather, the summer tundra remains wet, since permafrost not far below the
surface prevents drainage (Netsilik, n.d). This causes the Netsilik to migrate
frequently.
Their first encounter of non natives was in 1890, a meeting that was brief but would
provoke further meetings until the twentieth century. Interaction with other
civilizations would only prove to advance their own, for neighboring communities
like the Iglulik introduced them to more advanced weaponry like the rifle which
eventually replaced their standard harpoon; thus making hunting much easier. Later
on in 1920, trading posts were established, this completely changed their economy, for
instead of white fox fur trapping and trade, the Netsilik now would trade for
additional items made by non natives, including woolen clothing, tobacco, steel traps,
fishing nets, canoes, tea, and canvas tents (Netsilik, n.d). Adding these trading posts
not only shows how adaptive the Netsilik are to other cultures, but it allowed them
Walt Whitman s The Things They Carried
Mankind has always been fascinated with literature throughout history, writing
stories of history and of fantasy. Authors don t start out famous and are sometimes
forced to witness mankind s most abhorred creation, war. Some authors are just
journalists who are sent to cover the carnage and some are not yet authors, but will
become authors later in history. It is well known many people change after
witnessing or experiencing war, but if could this influence or change their writing
style? Walt Whitman started journalism in 1841. He founded a weekly newspaper
called the Long Islander. In 1865, Whitman published his second edition of Leaves
of Grass (poets.org). After the start of the Civil War had started, Whitman went to
Washington because he read his brother s name (George Whitman) on a casualty
list from the battle of Fredericksburg. He arrived in time to find his brother with a
small cut on his face and while there he noticed how terrible the sick and wounded
were being treated. He decided that he will do what he can to help and stayed. After

Description about the Sensors in the Network
. PROBLEM STATEMENT PROPOSED SCHEME
This section gives the description about the sensors, respective public and private
key pair model and event generation in the network. This is followed by the threat
model of the network and the kind of adversaries which pose threat to the network.
The design goals of the proposed scheme are also listed.
Figure 1. Network model with attack scenario
1 System Model
We consider the sensors S={S1,S2, S3, .....Sx} are deployed where x is the
population of the deployed sensors. Nodes are assumed to be deployed in uniform
random distribution. Prior to deployment, each sensor is assumed to be loaded
with a public /private keypair (pi; si), for i = 1; 2; 3; 4;.....x. Among the public key
cryptosystems available, we assume to used ID based public key cryptography.
The event generation in the network, is considered to be random. Event is sensed by
the neighboring sensor nodes where the event has occurred. These neighboring nodes
will try to report the event occurred to the sink or base station through anonymous
authentication, maintaining the privacy of the event as well as privacy of the nodes
in terms of location and identity. So the neighboring nodes of the occurred event
will form a ring signature groups addressing other selective nodes in the network.
The size of the rings will depend on the number of neighboring nodes when the event
has occurred. The payload of the messages will depend on the number of nodes in the
anonymity set of

relief and also to release her new music video. It was a crisp fall night, as dozens
gathered on the roof to attend the benefit concert. It was $5 a person to get into the
concert, and all the money went directly to the Red Cross to help the hurricane
victims from Texas to Florida to Puerto Rico. By the end of the night more than
$1300 were raised for the Red Cross.
Coats is a 19 year old marketing full time student at the University of Alabama while
pursuing a career in the music industry at the same time. According to Coats she
has been singing since she was a toddler and has fully been in the music industry
for about six years. Music has always been my passion and it is the one thing in my
life that I know without a doubt that the Lord called me to do, she said. She ... Show

It was also the public release of her new music video for her single American Girl .
Anna Slawson, an attendee and one of Coats sorority sisters said, It was really
cool to see my pledge sister performing at such a popular bar in Tuscaloosa and
doing what she loves . Another concertgoer Tara Henderson said, I think because
Bailey sang a lot covers of songs that people already knew it really let the crowd
engage and sing along with her which made it more fun and entertaining. Coats
closed out the night with her rendition of Sweet Home Alabama saying that she
couldn t leave the stage without paying homage to the state that means so much to
her. Overall Coats felt that, The concert went better than I could ve ever expected.
The turnout was truly remarkable, and the show was put on in a whole new manner
than I have ever done before. It was incredible to share my new performance with
my college peers and more importantly make a difference by giving back to such a

The Living Dead Sociology
Socialization plays a huge role in zombie narratives and has evolved tremendously
within films. It refers to the lasting process of inheriting and circulating norms,
customs and principles, providing an individual with the skills and habits required for
partaking within his or her own society. In Night of the Living Dead Romero s
monsters are mainly othered creatures, having virtually no subjective, human abilities
and promising almost no emotional suture with the viewers. Although, it is noticeable
that the zombies in this filmaren t shown as bloody figures with limbs falling off,
they do look like regular people. This explains why Barbra does not hesitate to run
towards her zombiebrother. The zombies aren t social isolates they have a preference

In Night of the Living Dead the human drive is the engine that drives the infinite
number of undead corpses constantly evolving. Romero portrays sex, death, and
revolution instincts as dangerous forces that are threatening to human life.
Civilizations key job is to overcome the hostile forces of nature, since the needs of
human survival are not in normal abundance. Necessities are easier to obtain when
individuals work as a group. Each person develops a role and contributes, working
to create a civilization. Basically, work means sacrifice and a lot of unfulfilling
hard work, but it is crucial. When considering the idea of a civilized order,
psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud s theories are important. Specifically, how primary
instincts reject social order and demand endless pleasure, civilization is unable to
grant what the instincts crave, and the two forces fall into direct conflict with each
other (Clark, 198). Deep down, there is a part of the individual s mind that still
desires instinctual pleasure, even if it s forbidden. Romero s zombies in this film
become nothing less than a visual metaphor for the return of the repressed, the idea
that the unlawful desires boil up within the social order and become the shady basis
of civilization. In Night of the Living Dead individual s superego and sense of
slavery to a higher authority is surpassed by a hostile and unlawful mission for
power. Mr. Cooper is constantly undercut by
Advantages Of A Small Dining Room
Of all the dining room tips available, the following ideas for a small dining room
are probably the most useful to most people. Few people have large separate dining
rooms, such facilities either comprising part of the kitchen or the living room, or are
small rooms with limited floor area.
1. Use Light Colors
Light colors tend to open out a room while dark shades tend to make it look smaller.
However, light need not mean drab, and whites and pastels can be accented with a
bright contrasting color. This is particularly effective when color is use to draw
attention to specific decorative elements.
Don t overuse color, though. You can have one colorful wall with others in white or a
neutral shade, or use brightly colored dining chairs with light ... Show more content

5. Small Dining Room Acoustics
One of the more useful dining room tips that you do not often find is to deaden the
acoustics in the room. A small room with plain walls and woodblock flooring will
reflect sound waves, so that conversation will appear to boom and reverberate,
particularly as the evening goes on and the wine starts to take effect!
While a highly polished or even rustic wood table looks nice, it is more practical to
use a tablecloth. This not only protects the table from scratches and dropped food,
but also absorbs sound waves. Fabric wall coverings also look good while
wallpaper is better that paint or paneling. Each of these helps to deaden sound so that
you can hear what people are saying without the booming and reflection of their
voices.

Everyone is unique, and ever has a different body type such as; short and thicker, tall and skinny, brown hair or black hair, blue or brown eyes, whatever the case maybe just know everyone is beautiful in their own way. The opinions of the media should not defy or bring everyone down. Imagine humans were all built the same it would be boring and repetitious. Uniqueness in physical appearance is what makes society so special as human beings. Society should not compare themselves to the person next to them. Society should be happy in their own skin and love every flaw an individual has because in all actuality no one sees those flaws except that individual. So, advice to any individual out there, love the uniqueness that they have, it will make an individual feel much better.Approximately 91 percent of women are not happy with their appearance and turn to dieting to achieve what they consider the ideal body shape. He does things alone, he asked his men to stay behind. Men at arms, remain here on the barrow safe in your armor, to see which one of us is better in the end at bearing wounds in a deadly fray. Furthermore, it was questioned if some of the responsibility given to IOT really do not belong to BMV Internal IT department. Examples include upgrading software (Internet Explorer) on Autotest devices. Another example is that to grant access to STARS IOT must enter the computer name into a STARS table. She was in the inside lane, and before reaching the Third Street intersection she stopped to make a left turn across three lanes of Alvarado, intending to enter a driveway. At this time defendant Robert Phillips, an employee of defendant Yellow Cab Company, was driving a company owned taxicab southbound on Alvarado. The court noted that to date 25 states had eliminated the all or nothing rule of contributory negligence and had instead enacted general apportionment statutes calculated to assess liability in proportion to fault. In 1973 these states were joined by Florida, which reached the same result by judicial decision. [Hoffman v. The war started with the U.S annexation of Republic of Texas and was the result of a dispute over where the Mexican American border should be. President James K. Polk, who believed the United States had manifest destiny to spread across the continent to the Pacific Ocean, ordered U.S. troops into an area between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande, a region that was claimed by both Mexicoand Texas, openly antagonizing Mexico. The purpose of this paper is to provide a general overview and analysis of how the Mexican American War contributed to Manifest Destiny. The region of Texas, which was originally a part of Mexico, declared independence as a nation in the year 1836. Mexico was primarily a territory of Spain, and the American settlers sought permission from Spain to develop land within the region of Texas. When Mexico became independent from Spain, the arrangements were conducted with the government of Mexico; however, this quickly caused a serious conflict, as the Americans in the region of Texas began to outnumber the native Mexicans in the region. When the number of Mexican immigrants increased, the situation escalated into military conflicts causing the famous Battle of Alamo, which the U.S claimed victory. Two major figures involved in this conflict included Stephen F. Austin, a young immigrant from Missouri, and Sam Houston, after whom major cities within present day Texas are named

Most people do not think about the resources it took to produce, transport, and prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not actually just trash; it is the key to human survival. Ordinary consumers can change the future with one small action: to stop wasting food. Actions at the individual level can decrease food waste and feed those in need. Twenty five percent of purchased food is thrown away. Currently Blue Community College has 12 special programs that aid in the process of ensuring the college is learning centered. The variations of these programs are beneficial to the needs and interest of all students. It is important to identify and assess if these programs are current and relevant to the average student. Through my consultation, I have identified that in order for the college to adopt the characteristics needed to become learning centered, the primary focus has to be assessing student learning. Learning outcome assessments will provide Blue Community College with accountability and transparency to ensure that the institution is providing all measures to guarantee student success. The assessments can also provide insight into the opportunities and challenges that are unique to each student and identify the relevancy of these programs. Blue Community College currently utilizes a program map for its students called a Student Plan. The student plan allows students to select their own course schedule; however, it provides an outline of the course sequence. It is imperative to ensure that the needs of the students are considered when creating an educational map. A through

Early in the 1750s, relationships between imperialism, nationalism, and racism were poised for rapid future change. Initially, the only reason why Europeans bothered with Africa was for trade purposes, which is what the few European colonies in Africa were for: ports and trading posts. The main reason why Europe traded in Africa was for slaves and natural resources. Europeans as the first to industrialize and the first to colonize in far areas of the world, considered themselves superior to other races, but didn t quite act on it. Nationalistic movements hadn t started to really begin, but Europeans felt particular fondness for their countries, as to be expected. Jews and blacks were generally disliked and considered inferior. This dislike had been going on for quite some time, especially with Jews, who had been the scapegoat for many various disasters, especially much earlier than the 1750s. Blacks were considered inferior because they were still in slavery. Early in the 1750s, North America was still under European control, and Euro Americans hadn t necessarily begun any imperialistic moves of their own (but a spark of North American nationalism later broke North America from European control and formed the United States of America). The majority of schools in the United States homework is assigned to students as work to be completed at home, outside of the classroom, and returned to the teacher for credit. However, only about 35% of school districts have an actual homework policy set in place (Roderique, Polloway, Cumblad, Epstein, Bursuck, 1994, p. 483). Without a homework policy teachers are left on their own to determine how to meet the homework needs of their students. This leads to inconsistent expectations for both families and students from year to year. • 25. Gastroesophageal Reflux Research Paper Gastroesophageal reflux What is Gastroesophageal reflux? Gastroesophageal reflux is a medical condition characterized by reflux of acidic juices into the esophagus, resulting in symptoms of regurgitation (sour taste in mouth) and reflux (burning in the chest). This is an extremely common condition in the United States. Factors such as obesity, alcohol use, tobacco use, certain medications, and various diets and lifestyle decisions increase your risk of developing gastroesophageal reflux. Long term disease can lead to a precancerous condition called Barrett esophagus. Other serious complications include esophageal adhesions, constrictions, and cancer. What are the symptoms and signs of gastroesophageal reflux? How is gastroesophageal reflux diagnosed? How is gastroesophageal reflux treated? What causes Gastroesophageal reflux? Gastroesophageal reflux is caused by the reflux of acidic juices from the stomach into the esophagus. This results in irritation of the esophageal lining leading to chest burning and discomfort. Acid can also reach the throat resulting in the sensation of a sour taste in the mouth (regurgitation). Symptoms often occur after meals and may be associated other features of dyspepsia such as bloating and mild abdominal discomfort. Long term inflammation in the lower esophagus can lead to cellular changes that are precancerous if the problem is not corrected or reversed Barrett esophagus. Eventually chronic irritation can lead to adenocarcinoma of the lower esophagus. Conditions that lead to acid reflux generally occur as a result of abnormal anatomic or pathophysiologic processes. Often times it is causes by increased intraabdominal pressure, which facilitates acid backflow from the stomach to the esophagus. Some of these can include: Obesity Pregnancy Abdominal

Many kingdoms including Babylon, Egypt and other kingdoms joined together trying to stop Cyrus from taking over their kingdoms. In many cities to the east of what he already was king of, he built forts in these cities to help protect the kingdom area that he just took over and did not want to loose by someone else who wants to conquer it. The conquest that Cyrus had to the east is not really known to people, that extended close to modern day Pakistan. After all of his conquests in the east he turned his attention to the west and to Babylon. It is said that Cyrus overtook Babylon without spilling any drop of blood, only a few days after of the king of Babylon had died Cyrus entered into the city of Babylon. Low power dissipation is one of the main design considerations for high level performance circuits. The leakage power dissipation is controlled by the factor gate oxide leakage and threshold leakage and thus the overall leakage of domino XOR circuits. If the supply voltage reduced and keeping the constant threshold voltage at its original value results in drastic degrading in speed because as the supply voltage is reduced the gate drive voltage (VDD VT) reduces and thus the delay increases since propagation delay in a CMOS.To overcome the delay degradation threshold voltage (VT) is to be reduced. Reduction in threshold voltage causes an exponential increase in sub threshold leakage current. As one continues to scale down supply voltage and threshold voltage . When none of his attempts were successful, he set a new plan, one not quite like the others, this one an assassination. According to Booth s former friend Louis Weichmann, Booth set out this plan after hearing Lincoln deliver a speech about Negro Suffrage. Abraham Lincoln s death was a horrible situation. About ten days before his assassination he had a premonition of his death while he was sleeping. In his dream he heard strong sobs coming from somewhere in the White House. He was walking from room to room without seeing anyone. Eventually he came upon the East Room, and he entered. He saw a coffin with soldiers around it, acting as guards. He remembers asking Who is dead in the White House? and the soldier replied with The President, he was killed by assassin! He recalled a woman shrieking and then the next thing he knew, he was awake. This is one of the most investigated situations surrounding President Abraham Lincoln s assassination because no one understands how such a thing could have happened. On April 14th, 1865 the President and the First Lady decided to go to a showing of Our American Cousin, at Ford s Theatre. A policeman was positioned outside of the balcony door that evening. Civil Rights in Colored People by Henry Louis Gates Henry Louis Gates admiration and following of great civil rights movement leaders, including his mother, seems to show that he has an optimistic position on history and social change in his book Colored People . Throughout the beginning chapters he is shown growing up noticing the contract between his mother s view and the rest of the Colemans. She would stand up to white people. He admired her spark and vitality, whished to grow up in a world where he can see his mother treated with the respect she deserves. Freedom from the chains of segregation was his goal, most notably his adventures during his college years. He was dating a white girl and was also going to extreme lengths to make sure Piedmont becomes unsegregated. Growing up he sees the flame within his mother diminishing. This occurrence doesn t phase his determination, the contrary; he decides to resurrect his mother s passion. He attempts that by helping his father buy her a house, since she always wanted to own property. He seems to also believe that the arc of history curves, no matter how many curves it takes it, towards justice. He at least did throughout his adolescence years. However, in the big scheme of history, it seems that his view is not as one dimensional as readers would expect. Gate s book reveals to us how history can be ironic in the form of a shocking change of tone in the concluding chapters. He doesn t imply that history is approaching its doom because of our actions, it is simply pointing

Allen presents the struggle of the time when social pressures were quickly building up, and a revolution was necessary which would free people from all forms of oppression. Allen presents his experiences which is an encounter with his friend whom he met in a mental institution. Allen uses several literary techniques to present the insanities in life and how people continue to struggle with it in life which ends up in tragedies and cries. Throughout the poem, Allen uses an elegiac tone which is a tone of mourning. From the very first line, the reader is prepared for what will follow in the subsequent lines and stanzas. In the first line, Allen says he is outraged, and that is why is crying out to the world to stop the destruction of a generation. In general, Allen is crying about the oppression and subjugation in the society. The speaker in the poem appears to be smart. The speaker s words do not come out in a proper order which makes the reader imagine that he was from a long sleep and he has been awakened by the reality of things and he wants us to join him through his lane and tell us what he saw. The speaker does not use proper English, and there is a lot of syntax in the verses which help the reader in understanding that the person speaking is drugged or has some mental illness. For Allen, he embodies the mental illness of his friend he is dedicating the poem too in a mental
  • 33. Care, An Aspect Of Life And Existence Of Our Own Existence According to Heidegger, there is an aspect of what he refers to as care in Dasein. Care is what makes us concerned with things in the world in which we interact with, as well as the care of interacting with them. It is something that is fundamental to our being in the word because its foundation it is overall something that underlines all of Dasein. Care is what causes it to be apprehensive about our own existence. More specifically, care is what creates the concern for life and existence of everyday things, and what is behind those things that we interact with. Without care, we would simply experience the world passively without any knowing of anything around us. People would go about their days not worrying about their lives and the deeper meanings behind their existence. Care is also something that is correlated with Heidegger s idea that we, beings, are constantly trying to get towards being. We are trying to get towards our original selves, because that it what we used to be. We were born with knowing of the nature of being, but we lost knowledge of it and we are constantly trying to gain it back. Heidegger claimed that it is care that is responsible for the reason that we are constantly trying to gain the knowledge that we have lost, because it is something that we care deeply about. Care is additionally responsible for taking action on the want by pursuing it. For instance, reading philosophy is an action motivated by care because one of its purposes is

Scientists perform tests on this chemical with new technology, but can never completely tell what the symptoms are if exposed to the chemical. This initiated such a problem and it elicits the fear of how new technology, in a catastrophic event like this, could potentially go horribly wrong. The fear of these new technology advancements are seen in all the characters, but specifically Babette and Jack. Babette states, I feel they re working on the superstitious part of my nature. Every advance is worse than the one before because it makes me more scared . Jack says, The greater the scientific advance, the more primitive the fear (DeLillo 161). Jack and Babette strongly show how they are feeling about technology and DeLillo shows his audience how mistrust of technology is a problem. Also, another example of mistrust is when Jack is checked for radiation of the chemical in his bloodstream. Jack questions the simulated evacuation technician and the technology he is using. What about the computers? Is that real data you re running through the system or is it just practice stuff (DeLillo 139). The SIMUVAC technician tests Jack by plugging details into a computer that tell him that his death is imminent. Jack trusts what the computer says, rather than trusting himself, and Jack becomes completely dependent on the computer. DeLillo demonstrates how mistrust is being used by Jack and compares it to society and how technology has become so mistrusted and depended on. After Jack is told by the computer he is going to die, DeLillo continues to emphasize the trust issues. I think I felt as I would if a doctor had held a

Later on in 1920, trading posts were established, this completely changed their economy, for instead of white fox fur trapping and trade, the Netsilik now would trade for additional items made by non natives, including woolen clothing, tobacco, steel traps, fishing nets, canoes, tea, and canvas tents (Netsilik, n.d).
